"It's a bad idea, me and you..."
I watched Waitress back in December and haven't been able to stop listening to the songs since!! I had no idea what it was about and was pleasantly blown away. Call me slightly obsessed.
I really wanted to make a shoujo-manga style cover for it, so here it is!

Finally watched Waitress (thank you Fathom events proshot) and the whole time Dr. Pomatter was being awkward on screen I was just imagining Jenna being like "damn i can't not fuck him."

so i fell down a waitress rabbithole last week after i saw the original movie (which slaps btw) and then proceeded to listen to the cast album like five times and then watched like five different slime tutorials. anyway i’ve come to the conclusion that while sara bareilles’s jenna isn’t terrible, i just don’t think it’s the right part for her. she would, however, make a fantastic awkward lesbian pomatter.

seeing waitress live was genuinely the most amazing tingles down my spine
like in "what baking can do," i always overlooked the "every door we ever made, we never once walked out" line because i never had a visual cue of what the line meant in the context of the narrative
but seeing what the line means, that jenna and her mom both were trapped in DV situations and never walked out of the "doors" they "made," and its just such a powerful and heartwrenching way to depict the way cycles of violence women experience domestically by partners are so hard to break and make you feel powerless
just listening to the soundtrack conveyed how jenna feels trapped, but seeing the stage play made me literally cry when i realized it was truly about breaking cycles of abuse
sara bareilles really doin the lords work 😫💅🏻💅🏻
