just had A MIND BOGGLING REALIZATION i mean the parallels between not only the lyrics of you belong with me (taylor swift) and idwtw but also the music video??? i mean the 'popular' girl is brunette, cheerleader, and uses him for clout???? (i mean that's what it looks like??) and aelin's blonde, smart (she's reading in the music video so???) and rowan's not blonde but hes pretty close??? ive always imagined him as a white blondeish colored hair person (lol that probably didn't make any sense). yeah so i was rewatching the music video and just immediately thought of idwtw ahahah
Taylor and I just really get each other, you know?

I've done Samoa before on Traveling By Tastebuds, but just a hop, skip and a jump away is American Samoa-- the more Americanized version of the cookies!
Though we took over the southernmost islands to use the territory as a navel base in 1900, the Samoan culture is alive and well on those five volcanic islands. You can see that especially in these traditional half moon pies which are quite sweet and tropical.
One of the things I love about south Pacific cooking is the liberal use of fruits like coconut and pineapple, and pai fala delivers on theme. And they came out looking so adorable! I was so giddy at the aesthetics of the finished product I almost didn't want to eat them. Like cute little empanada pockets, all bursting full of warm fruity goodness.
Considering some of my favorite foods are hot pockets and pop tarts, I think I generally just like food that comes in it's own warm pouch. lol I wish I had used a little more pineapple though as my can was a little short of what the recipe called for originally, but perhaps I'll make these again at some future point.
thinking about jemima + solomon again, particularly solomon and like how i kinda wanna build him up as more than just scaffolding for jemima’s development.
like yes, he is kind and patient still, and won’t coerce or even push a single issue with jemima and her Issues. he can understand, in a guessing sort of way, why jemima backs away after committing, after wanting rhoda, their daughter. but it doesn’t mean he’s still a little bitter, at least, still somewhat in love with her and missing her and sometimes so angry that she could (seemingly) change her mind at the drop of a hat (he knows that’s not true, but it’s a feeling, you know?).
Chapter 2 of “Countdown” is out!
Here’s a little preview of Apple Pie:
Cocking an eyebrow, I watched Lei, who darted around the apartment in search of the last piece of their outfit. For a brief moment, they disappeared into their room, caused a few crashes, and then emerged with a tan blazer over their white mock neck.
"Goodness, we're just restocking on pie," I said, looking them up and down, "Not visiting the president."
"I will never visit the president," Lei said, "so I do not need to save my outfits for such a special occasion. Therefore, I should look glamorous at every opportunity." With their head held high, they strut out of the apartment.
When Lei first moved in, they introduced me to a bakery a few blocks down from our apartment. It was a family-owned shop, and most of its products were homemade.
As Lei studied the raisin bread sitting happily on display in the bright glass case, I counted the slices in my apple pie. It stared back at me from its cardboard confinement, oblivious to its inevitable doom.
"It's my turn to pay, right?" Lei said, appearing beside me with a fat loaf of bread.
The walk home took around 15 minutes, so Lei liked to fill the silence with questions. Sometimes, they reminded me a lot of my cousin, Gabriel. He lived with my aunt and uncle in London, where he worked for some private investigation place.
