#OTD in 1820 – Death of physician, poet, educator and political radical, William Drennan, one of the chief architects of the Society of United Irishmen.
William Drennan’s poetic output included some powerful and moving pieces. He is chiefly remembered today for “Erin” written in 1800, in which he penned the first reference in print to Ireland as “The Emerald Isle”: “Nor one feeling of vengeance presume to defile The cause, or the men, of the Emerald Isle.” Drennan came to national attention with the publication in 1784 and 1785 of his Letters of…

I have found that the biggest deterrent to assholes is asking "why?" Over and over.
"We can't have universal healthcare!"
Why?
"Because I don't wanna pay for a strangers health!"
Why?
"Because if they can't afford their own health care that isn't my problem!"
Why?
And so on and so on. Keep making them dig. Keep making them explain until they can't anymore and are faced with nothing but the ugly mask of bias and prejudice. Only then can they truly see that taking it off is an option. Whether they do or not is up to them. And that choice tells you whether they deserve more of your energy or not.
Trans kids can't be trans. Why? Why not? Why?
Free food is bad for ppl. Why? Why? Why? Why is feeding ppl bad?
Why?
Why is helping one another bad?
Why is doing what humans are genetically designed to do, to help and care for one another to ensure survival, bad?

it's "don't let yourself be radicalized" until you tell them to not support terrorist organisation or wish death onto people they see as evil.
if you think death threats are good when the person "deserves it", you're radicalized.
if you think supporting an organisation that have committed multiple crimes and is known for being terrorists, you're radicalized.
if you dehumanize the other side and believe they're evil/bloodthirsty/animals/brainwashed, you're radicalized.
if you think blind violence against regular people and small businesses is good when it's for the "right" cause, you're radicalized.
if you think children and minors are monsters for being born into a world that taught them to support the opposite side, you're radicalized.
even the most vile person on the planet is still human, if a movement tells you some people are less human because of their race, religion, gender, sexuality, or political beliefs:
YOU ARE BEING RADICALIZED.

This is actually hilarious because:
Wasps are not bees. They are both members of the Hymenoptera order, which also includes ants. You wouldn't say that an ant is a bee just because they're both members of the same order, so why would you argue that a wasp is a bee? Would you argue that a camel and a giraffe are the same species because they also share the same order (Artiodactyla)?
Out of the some 20,000 species of wasp, NONE produce honey. There is a genus called "Brachygasta" including 17 species that keep stores of nectar and honeydew in case of food shortages, but none produce honey. And certainly not from meat.
So yet again, you have a TRA blatantly lying in order to turn something into what it's not. "The wasp is right, and the bee relies on untrue myths to explain itself," is such bullshit.
Sadly, this post got something like 2,000 notes. People will blindly believe what a TRA says, especially if it's a lie constructed to undo a radfem point. So many logical fallacies.
Wasps are not bees. Men are not women.

why does it always gotta be "oh im a communist but not like those marxists leninists-" we had this debate. in the 1800s. in fact marx AND lenin wrote about it: you are either for some nebulous idea of communal living that gets you nowhere OR you realize that you have to start from the current material conditions, and organize, and the organization has to be centralized for it to work and you have to study a lot and also act in group because going to protests on your own is just perpetuating an individualist ideology. they were saying marx was outdated in 1915!! guess what happened two years later. like you can incorporate all you want from feminism and queer theory and even anarchy but at the end of it all. only one line of action can bring about revolution, has revolution as its objective and has in fact done so before. it's marxism leninism. you have just been conditioned to think it's outdated so you wouldn't use the only weapon that actually works! people cant afford to eat and the west's quest to maintain economic hegemony is pushing us into ww3 and you will not use the concepts of plusvalue, imperialism, and political party, why? because the ruling class told you identity politics are more modern?

Just found out that women have to borrow more to pay for college, and then take longer to pay back their loans. Parents save more money for their sons, because of the breadwinner gender role. Colleges avoid taking too many girls into their classes and give boys' applications a second look. Once in college, girls are more likely to send money back to their parents to help support them (the same parents who saved less for their college education, because sons are the breadwinners...). Lots of female dominated professions like nursing require degrees, but any field with 'too many women' pays less. Once they're in the field, even if it is male-dominated, women are again paid less than their male counterparts (women are more likely to be penalized for asking for raises etc, and more likely to be overlooked for promotions). If they become mothers, that sets them back even further.
But men still complain that there are special scholarships for women. Lol.

Heyyyy since there's talk of the Breezepelt Attacking Poppyfrost scene going around, I just wanna remind people that he explicitly does that because he was groomed by the Dark Forest. Jayfeather points it out on the page that Breezepelt's stated motivation doesn't make sense, because it's not actually a rational idea Breezy-P came up with. It's then shown that actual factual evil demons are exploiting the anger he has from being a victim of child abuse, to indoctrinate and manipulate him into radical violence
I wrote a little essay about this with citations and stuff. It wasn't "for no reason," and anyone who tries to use the scene as "evidence" of Breezepelt being Secretly Evil to justify the abuse he underwent as a kid either didn't read it, has bad reading comprehension skills, or is cherrypicking on purpose.
Crowfeather emotionally and physically abused his child, Breezepelt was socially alienated by WindClan as a result, which leads to this moment. That is what is on the page.

anyone who "identifies" as something else than what they are is mentally unwell one way or another - they are dissociating from their bodies. these people are then given strong synthetic hormones as a "treatment". this does not "change their gender" but most likely sterilizes them. this is branded as human rights movement for "trans people".
it's f*cking brilliant marketing. they sold you eugenics and you celebrate it and wave their flags and attack us who are against this.

A real-life law change in India provided a wonderful control experiment for researchers: in 1993, the Indian government passed a constitutional amendment to address the dearth of female leaders in local politics. In each five-year election cycle, one their of villages were randomly selected to appoint a female pradhan or chief.
The result? After two cycles of having a female pradhan in a village, perceptions of women in leadership improved among both male and female villagers. What is more, parents' aspirations for their daughters increased: they were 45 per cent more likely to want their girls to progress beyond secondary school than parents in villages that had never had a female leader. Meanwhile, the girls themselves had greater ambitions, did better at school and shared household chores more equally with their brothers.
