hello!
this is an au created by @0vergrowngraveyard. idk if there’s any real plot to it yet. it started off as character design practice then became a kitesune!tails au then it spiraled into this so i’m still figuring shit out as i go lmao
feel free to ask questions to either myself or the characters! i’m not sure how often this will be updated but i sure will try
general story:
an accident involving the chaos emeralds sends sonic to an alternate dimension (it’s kinda like a shatterverse) where his friends (+eggman and sage) have very strong connections to the chaos emeralds and all dwell on an island called the emerald isle
the main island is split into 3 areas:
- flaming core zone
- whispering woods zone
- luminous ravines zone
each area has its own unique ecosystem and little villages where his friends are seen as great protectors
there’s also one tiny island that can be seen from the shorelines of the flaming core zone that appears to be home to very futuristic technology but it’s not a place that any of the inhabitants of the main island travel to. plus it’s usually covered by fog anyway there’s no need to worry about it, right? as they say: out of sight, out of mind
in order to get home, he needs to collect all 7 of the chaos emeralds but it’s proving to be a little challenging
unsurprisingly, these new versions of his friends are a tad bit protective over their power sources and none of them are trusting sonic nearly as quickly as he hoped they would. in fact, a lot of them seem to straight up dislike him! i guess that’s what happens when you ask someone to give up their power for a complete stranger
i’ll get more into the specifics in future posts but this is the basic idea of it
i hope you guys enjoy my ramblings about this silly little idea that’s been spinning in my head like a microwave 🩵

A fond look back at traipsing thru the Wicklow Mountains in Co Wicklow Ireland.
We were in Ireland late last year, and early on in our two weeks across the pond we had a chance to spend time with family down in County Wicklow just south of Dublin.
My wife and I spent a day exploring about the Wicklow Mountains between Glendalough and Lough Tay, and had a ton of fun out in nature doing so.
Let's go exploring, international edition.

#OTD in 1820 – Death of physician, poet, educator and political radical, William Drennan, one of the chief architects of the Society of United Irishmen.
William Drennan’s poetic output included some powerful and moving pieces. He is chiefly remembered today for “Erin” written in 1800, in which he penned the first reference in print to Ireland as “The Emerald Isle”: “Nor one feeling of vengeance presume to defile The cause, or the men, of the Emerald Isle.” Drennan came to national attention with the publication in 1784 and 1785 of his Letters of…

Céad Mhíle Fáilte agus Hello Friends
Welcome to my inaugural post here at @irishhistorynerd.
I thought, what better place to start this blog than with Ireland herself, and all of her other names. So indulge me as I show you all the etymology and meaning behind the wonderful names of Ireland.
Starting with the most known,
Ireland: Ireland is made of two parts, 'ire' and 'land.' Ire doesn't come from the english word ire, meaning anger, but the Irish name for the country being Éire (Air-ah). The last three letters were taken and land was added to the end, making Ireland.
But where does Éire come from? Well that'd be from the Old Irish word Ériu, the matron goddess of the land of Ireland.
Éirinn and Éireann are both grammatical forms of Éire.
Erin originates from Éirinn and is notable for being a common poetic way to refer to Ireland. They personified Ireland as a beautiful woman named Erin in their poetry and songs.
Hibernia is another name used for personifying Ireland. The name is the Latin word for Ireland. It comes from the Roman Historians's Tacitus' book 'Agricola.' While Hibernia isn't much used as a name for Ireland anymore, its compound form is more commonly used to mean Ireland or Irish, e.g. Hiberno-English means the Irish dialect of english.
The Emerlad Isle, a common epithet for Ireland, first shows up in print in the 1795 poem by William Drennan, 'When Erin First Rose.' It references the beautiful green fields of the Irish countryside.
The Land of Saints and Scholars is another common epithet. Which goes to show the magnitude of influence the catholic church had on ireland. One of the most famous saints in the world, Saint Patrick, is the patron saint of ireland and is mythologically responsible for converting a large nu,ber of people to catholicism and driving evil (the snakes) away from the land. Our scholars date back to the dark ages, where monks would work tirelessly to transcribe copies of text in an age where literacy was at a shocking low. Our tradition of scholars continued on for centuries, with the monks being replaced by great writers and poets such as Padraig Pearse, W. B. Yeats, and James Joyce.
So there we go! the most common names for Éire and her land. I hope you enjoyed! Feel free to follow for more fun Irish knowledge.
And of course I'm only human, if I made any many mistakes please let me know so I can fix them as soon as possible.

guardians and secondaries
before for i start talking about individual characters, im gonna talk about the two labels they fall under so things aren’t confusing 👍
intro
within each zone, 2 emeralds protect and preserve the land and various villages scattered throughout. the manifestations of the emeralds are called either a guardian or a secondary.
there are shrines dedicated to each emeralds hidden somewhere in the 3 zones that villagers bring gifts to and say their thanks to the manifestations for keeping them safe
(“but if there’s 7 emeralds, where’s the last one?” i hear you asking and to that i say be patient i’ll explain it in a later post)
if the emerald itself, which is located at the shrine, is removed: the manifestation will grow weaker the longer its out.
if the emerald is destroyed: the manifestation dies
guardians
the guardian is the primary protector of the zone, previously holding the power of two emeralds (the dominant emerald being the more powerful while the other is more like a back up)
They’re much stronger than their secondary and if their emerald breaks, they will reform alongside it once the gem is fully restored
secondaries
a secondary forms when a guardian willingly transfers some of their power into their non-dominant emerald, creating a new manifestation. secondaries are considered to be a guardian’s right hand and once they form, that’s when their shrine is created
while they may be magically weaker than their counterpart, their strengths lie more in how they assist their guardian and villagers (such as wisdom, optimism, courage, etc)
when a secondary’s emerald breaks, there is no way for them to be reformed and the power returns to the guardian
to sum it up in a few words
guardians are protectors
secondaries are helpers

The rolling green hills and countryside around the Ring of Kerry, as seen from high above Kenmare Bay, Ireland.
My wife and I have family that live in this area and last year they were gracious enough to invite us out to stay in their country house for a few days of R & R. It's such a spectacular area of the country, and we look forward to possible future opportunities to spend time in this gorgeous spot.
