There’s a place

Where the grass wraps around

Your ankles

And the trees make

A glade

Cigarettes wrap bubbles

Around our little brains

We’ll laugh there again

At the end

But for now…

Kiss off, little daisy

Jump out of cracks

And the space between leaves

With your smile

Your golden sun

Smoke curls

Wrapped around your face

In my torn up jacket

I pluck you from the ground

But when I shake you

Your roots always reach for home

Finally, when I pull at the grass

The trees lay naked

And my little daisy

Grows in molten rock

Tires break the bubbles

The road is hard and long

But where the grass is gone

My little daisy laughs away

I leave you far behind
