On yesterday, I reposted a video discussing #perfectionism as a reminder that our peace should be our highest priority. The video uploaded with NO SOUND! I will try to re-upload soon. . . . Anywho, I shared about how comparing our daily #quarantine schedules, routines, and accomplishments with those of other moms - as well as “giving a care” about what others think of your modes of family survival right now is extremely unhealthy. . . . Here’s a prime example of what I mean: My husband was interviewed for a story on being a #GirlDad. “They” needed a photo. But “I” needed my sanity. So, after a day filled with homeschooling and back-to-back Zoom meetings, what did I do? I took and submitted THESE photos. On the surface, these photos appear acceptable (of which they are); however, the journey to snapping these shots involved a full-on state of “I don’t give a care,” partnered with “whatevers.” You see, my kids - and even my husband - are still in their “house clothes,” paired with pajamas. Little-to-no preparation was made before capturing these shots. No hair was done, no wardrobe selected, no thought put into it, and very little “standards.” It was “easy-peasy.” And yes, this article is public and will be shared with the WORLD. . . . I LOVE these photos, because they go to show me that love, light, and beauty CAN be achieved without the sacrifice, or the compromise, of my peace. . . . Be encouraged, Moms. I know I haven’t been lately, so here is an old sketch. At the moment, I am struggling with art. I despise everything that I make, so I want to get rid of all traces that has to have anything to do with art. I don’t like where I am skill wise, and it bothers me to no end. It’s hard being a perfectionist because of one line isn’t right then I destroy the whole drawing. I feel like I can’t get back into drawing at all, and it’s all I know. Just looking at a sketchbook stresses me out. Tutorials don’t even help me because I struggle to understand what I’m watching. Stories...don’t you love ‘em? I love to read, draw, and write them. Currently, I’m in a mode of improving what I have built up already. I drew this lovely Selkie inspired girl last year and this week I improved the piece by adding a background (swipe to see the original). 🎨 But since I aim so hard to improve, I struggle with perfectionism. I don’t know when to stop. I often don’t appreciate how far I’ve come. ⭐️ However I don’t want to stay that way. With this painting I can see areas I could keep working on. The last few weeks have been extremely hard and busy for me. I am in the middle of moving and packing up. This is my first attempt at writing.... I love Klance waaaaaay too much but am terrified of writing and at the same time want to write I probably have put more work into this than parts of my job. I have drafts of the next two chapters... no worries about an unfinished fic. ;)

(Seriously, I've been working on this for more than four months. I also want to write a longer, more structured Klance fic, but, well, #perfectionismsucks, so I decided to see if I could write something at all before tackling a larger project.)

Comments and feedback are welcome! I tend to be super critical of my work, so having someone else look at it is great (both to point out strengths and weaknesses)

Da bin ich ganz ehrlich! ;) Denn Veränderung fängt ja mit Erkenntnis an! Eines der goldgelben Elixiere, die ich gestern als Goodies für unsere „Yoga mit Freunden“-Teilnehmer vorbereitet habe, ist umgekippt. War klar. Typisch ich. Zu viel Luft. Zu wenig Erde. ~•~ Ich habe mich einen kurzen Moment darüber geärgert. Um mich gleich danach beim Universum für dieses Missgeschick zu bedanken! Denn ja, danke für den Reminder: Ich kann nicht immer alles kontrollieren und alles zu 150 % gut und richtig machen. Im Grunde, habe ich nämlich gar nichts unter Kontrolle. Alles im Leben ist Veränderung und nichts ist perfekt. Ich weiß gar nicht, ob ich die Öle überhaupt heil nach Portugal bringe. Ich weiß nicht mal, ob das Flugzeug überhaupt an der Algarve ankommt. ~•~ Früher habe ich übrigens immer einen Gangplatz weit vorne gewählt. Warum? Damit ich schnell zum Piloten komme, falls etwas aus dem Ruder läuft! Nein, ich hab keinen Pilotenschein, mein Verstand hat dennoch gemeint, er hätte dadurch alles unter Kontrolle. Kein Scherz! Seit ich mir bewusst gemacht habe, dass meine Flugangst auf diesem Kontrollzwang beruht & dass es außerhalb meines Einwirkens liegt, ob das Flugzeug abstürzt oder nicht, fliegt es sich entspannter! Am anderen Ende der Kontrolle steht das VERTRAUEN. Wahrscheinlich das wichtigste Wort für alle Kontrollfreaks & Perfektionisten unter uns! ;) ~•~ You live.
