i saw this post the other day about annabeth and how she doesn't have a birth certificate because she was never technically born. and that raises so many interesting questions. like, does she even legally exist? does she have a fake ID? i don't need sleep. i need answers.

Hello, can I please request general headcanons for a (romantic) either Yandere Jason Grace x reader or Yandere Percy Jackson x reader? Thanks!
''I know I can be scary sometimes, but I want you to know that I would never hurt you.'' — Percy Jackson.
❝ 🌊 — lady l: I made it from Percy, because I already wrote a general headcanon with Jason, you can read it by clicking on one of the tags below. I changed the way the structure of the headcanons looks a bit, with a phrase above. What do you think? Hope you like it and good reading! Sorry for any mistakes. :)
❝tw: yandere themes, obsessive and possessive behavior, jealousy, mention of murder, implied torture, unhealthy relationships, mention of kidnapping and blood.
❝pairing: yandere!percy jackson x gender neutral!reader

Percy Jackson is your biggest admirer, your best friend and confidant. Everyone knows he's reliable and everyone sees them as a great friend, but maybe it's time to look a little closer look. If you take a closer look, maybe he's not what everyone says he is. The glares and hate-filled glares at anyone who comes near his darling is somewhat revealing in his behavior.
He knows that the feelings he has for you are wrong, that the morbid thoughts that come to his mind all the time are disturbing, but even so, even knowing all of this, Percy can't stay away from you. He ignores every warning he gives himself, he just can't stay away from you.
Percy wants to be your best friend, your lover and more and he will stop at nothing to make those wishes come true. It is very common to see him always at your side or with at least one eye on you. He fears for you. What if you get hurt? What if you get kidnapped? What if you get killed by a monster? He can't let any of that happen to you, so he'll make sure you're with him at all times.
He won't admit it to anyone, but Percy craves your approval and attention. The demigod lives for your compliments or your bright smiles, he doesn't care if he has to get hurt to get your attention back to him, all that matters in the end is you. And only you.
Percy is extremely loyal to his friends and family, it's nothing new that he would die and kill to protect them, but after meeting you, he'd get rid of them all if you asked. From the moment he laid eyes on you, you became the center of his world. They have become nothing compared to you. They are nothing compared to you.
To say he is overprotective of you is a huge understatement, Percy will go to extreme lengths when it comes to your safety. He goes crazy with worry when he sees a single scratch on your skin, a scratch he knows shouldn't be there. He doesn't care if you're a child of Ares, for example, he won't overlook even the smallest bruise made on your skin. First he will take care of that wound, he would make sure it heals properly and after he makes sure you are safe, he will go after whoever caused it. Jackson will not rest until the one who inflicted his scar is dead. He's your protector and he can't let anyone who hurts you get away with it.
Percy is known for his sarcasm and intelligence, sometimes even being a little moody which makes him a bit difficult to deal with at times, but when you combine these traits with his yandere side there's nothing good that will come out of it. He has difficulty dealing with anger and can become troublesome at times. He will quickly fly into a rage if he sees someone disrespecting you or if they have been staring at you longer than he deems necessary. He will go to the lengths of making personal threats and, if those threats don't work, he will have to take matters into his own hands. Percy doesn't mind getting blood on his hands for you.
He is very jealous, often becoming possessive of his darling. He tries, however, to be subtle about it. He doesn't like to be jealous, he knows he shouldn't be jealous after all he is Percy Jackson, a proud son of Poseidon and he knows he doesn't have to feel that way but he does because you are his whole world and he is very afraid of losing you. Something that not many people know is that he is quite insecure when it comes to relationships and he loves you very much, he cares for you more than he ever cared for anyone else and just the thought of you leaving him for someone else drives him insane with jealousy and when he feels this way, Percy will cling to you more than he ever has, becoming clingy and questioning you repeatedly if you really love him.
On quests, Percy will always accompany you, whether you like it or not. For him being extremely protective of you, this is something that both hinders and helps you, because you don't remember any monster being able to even touch a strand of your hair but also he is suffocating when it comes to your safety, going as far as point of being overbearing and being adamant about keeping you out of harm's way. He won't hesitate to send you away if the situation gets out of control, he knows you'll be mad at him but he won't care after seeing you safe and alive. All the possible curses you throw at him are ignored by him, since he's more focused on looking at you lovingly.
He is a very dedicated and attentive boyfriend, in every moment of your life, he will be present. In addition to being loyal and protective, Percy will always make you feel special because you are special and he won't make you feel anything less than the most loved person in the world. Expect to receive lots of treats from your demigod, from gifts that came from the sea to absurd things right away (but never ask him how he managed to buy them), he knows that you deserve the best and the best you will receive.
Percy is extremely insightful when he wants to be and he is with you. There is nothing that escapes his keen eyes when it comes to you, the son of Poseidon will always know where you are and who you are with at Camp Half-Blood. He is very popular and that has its advantages, everything you do will have his permission and double attention. If you complain to him about it, he will just tell you that: ''it's for your own safety''. His protective behavior is suffocating and the clingy way he acts towards you leaves you unsettled, even more so when he makes subtle threats to you about hurting your friends. He says he'll never hurt you, but you know that doesn't apply to other demigods.
Some say he is one of the greatest, if not the greatest, heroes that ever lived and they are right. Percy Jackson is courageous and possesses all the qualities that make him a hero and feats that may even be greater than Hercules ever did. He's fun, popular and protective, what's not to like about him? The most sensible answer would be: nothing. But you know that's not true, you know very well Percy's obsessive and possessive behavior towards you, the way he behaves when someone gets too close to you, his crazed jealousy and the threats he makes when he thinks no one is hearing this. You know all this but still find yourself unable to leave him, but even if you wanted to leave him, you couldn't, Percy would always find you.

Ok hear me out. Percy getting in a huge fight with his s/o for the first time, I don’t even know what the fight would be about I just want to get in my feelings🤧
Omg me too babe. For a better experience reading this, listen to "Things Fall Apart" by The Nude Party during!
"I don't get it, Percy!" You throw back at him and his nose wrinkles in distaste.
"Of course you don't get it! You've never gotten it, Y/n!" His hands fly up and shake as if he wants to say something more before they clench and land at his sides.
You sit down on his bed with a huff, a loud squeak screams through the silence as it shivers from your weight. "Then explain it to me. Tell me why you demand this responsibility?"
"So nobody else gets hurt." He says it like you're dumb and his tone burns. He's burning rapidly through the skin on your chest to get to your stupidly vulnerable heart.
"But what about-" Your voice cracks. You can't be selfish, you change course, "What about you? What about when you get hurt?"
"I can take it." He physically waves away your concern and his eyes roll like crashing waves, filled deep with the ocean's anger.
"No one else can? Just for once?"
His eyes find yours and he knows exactly what you're feeling. "Apparently not."
He's found your heart, your chest has a charred hole right down to it. He's got one hand wrapped around it and another holding a rusty nail, pressing it tight against the wiggly organ.
"That's not fair." Silence, you try again "Percy... I just don't understand-"
"Because you've never been important, Y/n!"
Air escapes your lungs in a wheeze, your torso caves like you've been sucker-punched. The nail is lodged firmly in your bleeding pulse. "W-what?"
Maybe he doesn't realize what he's said because there's nothing in his expression that wants your forgiveness. There's rage, annoyance but no guilt. His hand tightens around your weeping heartbeat and with the other, he raises a hammer.
"You don't have to deal with the issues I do, being a child of the Big Three! You've never saved the world, let alone a fruit fly. You've just never meant that much!"
The nail went all the way through. It pinned your heart to the inside of your back and stuck it's point out of it. Now your body to freezes up without a functioning life-force and your mouth stutters silently.
You stand up on shaky legs and turn around, the first tear falling where you'd been sitting as you grab your phone, your bag and your car keys. "Okay, Percy, okay. You win, go be a hero and fight everyone's battles. Focus on what's important."
You turn around and for a second, all you see in your boyfriend's face is exasperation. Then all-encompassing pupils trace the quiet river on your cheek and suddenly, it's completely gone and replaced with sad confusion. He reaches for you and you duck out of the way with a humorless chuckle.
"No, no, Percy. I said focus on the important things, you know, people who actually matter?" You grab your shoes that lay by his bedroom door and shrug it open without a glance back, "Call me when I'm one of them."

So I saw your post abt the opinion stuff and I would like to say that: Isolde is overrated af. Why? Because she fucking annoying and I hate hate HATEE female love interest who are obsessed with their male love interest. Like get off Tristans dick for crying out loud. Her obsession with him at this point is fucking weird, like she really wants him to take her V card? Like I get it he’s hella fine but to the point where you want to off yourself just because some other man stuck his head up your skirt? And it’s the fact that she doesn’t even know what she talking abt. For the first half of Seven deadly Sins I didn’t like Jericho and Elaine because of their obsession with Ban, but once they grew to be their own character I loved them. The same goes with Elizabeth. That’s why I love Percival and Nasiens so much cause they are their own separate person, yeah they love each other but not to the point where they are OBSESSED with one another. Anyway just my opinion ig, but it’s really just facts 🤷‍♀️
LMAOOOOO why was this so aggressive in the 😂😂😂 . I get not liking characters who are obsessed with their love interest but personally I don't think Isolde corresponds to that type of person ( not entirely anyway 💀💀 ) . Sure she's cray cray about Tristan and gets a bit... a lot when she's around him but she doesn't only care about him . We've seen Isolde have close relationships with other characters such as Chion, Jade and Anne..
And wanting to lose your virginity to the guy you like isn't that weird of a thought tbh, I think its perfectly normal to want ur first time to be with the person you love . Sure maybe she shouldn't yell about it but I think that's its more of a gag than a smth to take seriously.
And about the Percy skirt whole situation again I think you should take it as a joke about Isolde being ignorant about sex lmao, she clearly thought that the head under the skirt meant losing her virginity, so her thinking Percy took it from her, without her consent made her understandably upset .
Was it silly ? Yes.
But was it also a gag meant to be funny ? Yes as well .
If you found it funny or not thats you're opinion.
And at that time, virginity was a huge fucking deal so her being all emotional about it is again understandable .
And her not being properly informed is not on her but on her parents for not teachng her better.
But anyways if you like Isolde or not that's your opinion and I respect it 😁 but personally I think Isolde is a pretty decent character .
Sure her crush can be a lot but overall she's a very sweet, silly and funny girl who has AWESOME magic btw, like I am obsessed with the way they animated it 🥹.

Little background I'm childfree, so I have two relevant head-cannons. Feel free not to answer if you feel these are too political.
What is do you think Molly and Arthur's reaction be if one of their favored kids, say Bill or Ginny be if they decided not to have kids (ignoring the last part of DH).
Maybe Ginny knows there is no way she can be a pro Quiddich player if she gets pregnant or Bill decides he wants the married life but not kids. I imagine with the others while it would hurt the relationship, but it could be excused for any number of reasons.
Based on a common 'bingo' asked of childfree women, do you think it's possible that the bad with money Molly and Arthur assumed that their kids would take care of them when they are elderly. Which kid do you think got saddled with them?
Growing up I'd assume that Percy was the son chosen for that task especially when the older brothers yeeted upon graduation. I just get the feeling that Percy was initially chosen to be the one but after the fight, I'm not so sure.
I don't mind answering political questions at all. 😉
Oof. That is not going to go over well, and I don't think it matters much if it's a favored kid or not. Either way, Arthur doesn't really care, but Molly tries to guilt trip them constantly - crying, talking about how children give your life meaning, saying that she doesn't want them to miss out on such a precious gift, etc. It puts a definite strain on their relationship, and whoever it is gets tired of having to deal with it, so they don't come around much.
I highly doubt Charlie came back to visit often, because Molly kept setting him up with blind dates (i.e. inviting women over for dinner) no matter how many times he told her to stop. It would honestly be bad for any of them, but I imagine it's worse for Bill & Ginny because of their partners. Bill would have to constantly deal with Molly blaming Fleur, and Ginny would have to constantly deal with Molly's horrible comments about how she's depriving Harry of happiness and the family he never had growing up.
To answer your second question, I do think Molly & Arthur assumed that one of their kids would take care of them when they got older (if necessary), just like Molly assumed she would take care of Aunt Muriel when the time came. It may not have been spoken about, but the expectation was always there.
I think it's (subconsciously) part of the reason they tried so hard for a girl - statistically speaking, daughters are far more likely to take care of ailing parents than sons (and that expectation is yet another way the Weasleys are misogynistic). So I think they originally hoped Ginny would do it, but that obviously didn't work. I'm not insulting Ginny at all, but I definitely don't think she would be the one to care for them.
Once they realized that, Bill was their next best hope. He's the oldest, cherished son, who does try to act responsibly when he's in town (letting Ron stay with him, distracting Molly when she gets upset about Percy, trying to keep the peace with her by being passive, etc.). That's partially why Molly hated his marriage to Fleur so much, because Fleur threw a huge wrench into that plan.
I do think Bill would help them financially - he has a decent job and makes enough money that he could manage, and I picture him as feeling a fiscal obligation to them. But if Molly & Arthur need physical help (such as moving in with him, needing help changing/bathing, etc.), then that's a giant no. Bill (and Fleur) are not doing it.
Similarly, I also think George, Ginny, and Ron would help financially (if possible), but that's about it, and to be honest, I doubt Charlie would even help in that way.
So that leaves Percy.
Percy and his spouse get stuck with the physical and emotional burden. I've said it before, and I'll say it again - Percy has Oldest Daughter Syndrome. His parents may not have originally expected him to be their caregiver, but when you think about it, it was pretty much inevitable the whole time. 😢
Thanks for the ask! 😊

Any angst HCs for crunchy moments as the quarter elves grow up? Close calls, or bad illness, or being lost, or assailants in Whitestone, or a parent scaring the kids, anything that'd give Vex and Percy nightmares? >:3c
Some of these are crunchy, some are just tasty, all are some flavour of angsty. Some definitely give Percy and Vex nightmares, some are just awful moments that stick with a person in a different way, a lasting underlying worry that persists afterwards while never being so much as to fully form a nightmare.
I hope you enjoy.
Vesper
So, you know I don't think that Vesper is actually an aasimar. I think she's planetouched, I just don't think she's a full aasimar. And... I think that gets to her as she's growing up? Because look. She has the white hair, she learned Celestial practically at her father's knee, she knows so much stuff about Pelor thanks to her mum but-
She's not angelborn. She's just a person. And I think there's a lot of people who try to put her on a pedestal because they want to believe that she's an aasimar, especially Whitestone natives. What better shows the healing of Whitestone from the depredations of necromancy and undeath and demons than an aasimar?
So I think she feels a lot of pressure growing up from this, from being put on a pedestal of expectations and belief and I think she struggles with that a lot! Who wouldn't! And she's her parents' firstborn and after so much loss as well just- that's a lot on this little girl's shoulders!
I think there's probably a total screaming, crying, sobbing meltdown at some point when she's about six or seven after some kid at a big diplomatic gathering says something to her about angels and she just finally breaks over it which I think is the point Percy and Vex intervene. I don't know that they'd necessarily noticed it before, especially because a lot of it would be small, or only directed directly at Vesper as she grows, or would be things easily passed off as, well, Vesper is the firstborn of the newly renewed de Rolo family.
I think this may also be why she ends up supporting Cass more as she grows, because Cass too knows what it's like to be faced with a huge amount of expectations and, moreover, to have to shoulder it, and so I think she understands Vesper's struggles better than most, and in turn, helps Vesper see what she can be regardless of others' beliefs and expectations. But yeah, I do think she gets treated quite gently for a bit after the melt because... well. I think she's very well behaved for the most part - partly due to her own nature and partly due to the expectations, kind of a hint of Gifted Kid Syndrome.
This said, I think this also means she understands Gwen and the difficulties Gwen is likely to face a great deal better than most except for like. Zahra and other actual tieflings, and I think Vesper is probably Gwen's favourite sibling for that exact reason.
Leona
Look. She didn't like glasses. She didn't. Yes they mean she can see but they're right there, dad! right at the end of her nose! All the time! I think she takes some time to get used to them and is never particularly pleased with the fact she needs them. I think she's also more than a bit jealous that clearly Vex's perceptiveness evened out to perfect eyesight for all her other siblings, hey mum, no fair!
I don't think she ever did something terribly reckless about it, like looking up spells supposed to help eyesight and trying to cast them... but I think she definitely looked them up. I think she also looked up an awful lot of hare-brained schemes and constantly gave her parents heart attacks over what new deranged idea she'd come up with.
But I think the worst is when she ran off into the woods after some kind of argument, likely with Wolfe, confident in what ranging she'd learned from Vex to keep her safe...
Only it was dark and she was upset and she got lost.
And then. It started to rain.
It was a very rough night out in the woods in those circumstances. Leona knew enough to climb into a tree, out of reach of most of the predators, and in hope of being able to perhaps spot a landmark in day, but it's hard to stay balanced while you're sleeping so she dozed but didn't really get much rest.
When she woke there was a Wolf at the bottom of the tree.
Not a Wolfe, to be clear. At that point, Wolfe would be welcome. But a Wolf, very much deserving of the capital letter because it was big, and it was watching up at her with very clever, aware eyes.
Oh no, Leona thinks. I'm going to get eaten.
But the Wolf doesn't try to jump up. There's no scuff marks on the trunk suggesting it might have. Indeed, there's a whole puddle of wolf footprints of various sizes around the foot of the tree, but only this one Wolf waiting.
Softly, the Wolf barks, and turns to point it's nose towards a slight gap between two bushes. When Leona looks in that direction, pushing branches out of her way-
She can see her father's clocktower.
Oh. Hadn't her mother said there was a giant wolf in the woods? Galdric, companion of the last Champion of the Raven Queen?
Well, she's always been down for a harebrained scheme. She clambers down the tree carefully, bit by bit, never entirely sure the Wolf wouldn't attack - she's harebrained at times but not stupid - but it never jumps, just occasionally whines a little until she plants both feet on the ground. Then it sniffs around her once, twice, and starts walking in the direction it had looked earlier. When it gets to the bushes it pauses, glancing back.
It's different in a wolf's face than a bear's, but Leona recognises Trinket's "aren't you following?" look.
In a few hours, she's at the treeline. A few minutes after she's at the town wall, her hand buried in Galdric's fur - it has to be Galdric - as he walks her the last few steps to the gate. As soon as one of the Hunters runs up to her, he turns and heads back off to the woods.
(Leona cries when Vex runs up to her and wraps her in a hug. It's okay - Vex is crying too.)
Wolfe
I think he at one point had quite a nasty fall.
There's a lot of ravens in Whitestone, especially after Vax's passing, and some of these ravens I imagine end up getting very bold. Whether they're RQ ravens or regular ones, corvids are smart and I wouldn't be surprised if over the years they get bold enough to pull a seagull - stealing food, landing on people's heads, etc.. And... I imagine all of the children know about their mother's brother and the gaping hole it left in their family and they know the ravens are linked to that. I strongly believe that being visited by the ravens becomes something the children impute meaning into, whether or not there's any divine influence in play - see the next entry on this in a second - and that they see it as meaning they're on the right path, what fate intends, that they're being watched over by their uncle.
I also think that children are little shits and probably like to play stupid games with each other and even with animals. So... I can see them chasing around some of the bolder ravens, encouraging them close and playing something like tag with them. Ravens do play, and there's magic in whitestone which is in the mountains around the city and would seep into the plants and thus the wildlife - I would be unsurprised if there was a little magical hint in the local area making animals a little smarter or more magical.
So... Wolfe chasing one of the ravens for tag. Running around the gardens, climbing trees and up to a tower window and on to the ramparts...
Except. Ravens can fly.
Little boys can't.
Between Vex and Keyleth and Pike, I think Wolfe is fine, physically. I think he is very afraid of heights for a good long while after, if not his whole life, and I think there's times when, despite all that magical healing, he remembers how it hurt to impact the ground like that, and want to curl small, to protect all those raw edges.
I think that's why he tries to stand so tall otherwise. Not unlike his father with all his shielding layers, I think Wolfe tries to find ways to hide or obscure the hurts he wants to forget ever happened.
Vax'ildeux
Well, for a very simple one: I think Danny saw his brother fall. I think he was the one to get their parents, and I think the visual of his brother crumpled on the ground stuck with him for a good long while.
But I promised ravens and their imputed meanings for this one so: as some of you may know, I have a very firm headcanon that Vax2 is trans.
Now, him being trans isn't too much of an issue. Exandria is by and large all for gender rights, and his family is more than wealthy enough to enable him to transition to whatever degree he wants. I think it was a bit tricky for him figuring it out but once he had I think telling his family wasn't too much trouble.
I think the trouble came for him in picking a new name.
Looking at the various de Rolo siblings several are named after lost family members (Vesper Elaina, Wolfe, Gwen (Melanie)) and while we don't know for certain that Leona or Wolfe's middle "Kristoff" are lost family members for Percy I also wouldn't be surprised. I think, therefore, it is not unlikely that Vax2's deadname also referred to lost family members! And shedding it feels a bit disrespectful, and that's even before picking a name which feels right and appropriate - I think it took him a long time to settle.
I think he absolutely considered his dad's brothers for names - Julius, Oliver, Ludwig - but given none of the children are named for them, I'm almost inclined to say that Cass called dibs on getting to use their siblings' other names if she ever had children. And I imagine the kids love and respect their Auntie Cass, so those names were out unless he wanted to go begging to Auntie Cass - which he absolutely could do but I think he probably felt was a bit intimidating.
So... his dad's brothers' names were out... but what about his mother's brother's?
But he knows that name is a raw thing not just for his mum but for his dad and for his Auntie Keyleth, so could he, really? Could he take that name on? It's a heavy name too, one with meaning to a lot of people, and him taking it on would mean something, and of course he couldn't be Vax2, but-
It's a long name. "Danny" rolls easily enough off the tongue.
And the more he thinks about it, the more he likes it.
The more he thinks about it, the more he notices the ravens sitting at his window as he mulls it over, tries to think what name to go with it - not one of his father's brothers' names, obviously, but what about his grandfather? His father bears a piece of his father's name, so that's a name Percy has dibs on, not Cass, so.. Vax'ildan Frederick. That sounds right.
And the raven watching caws.
Well. That settles it.
The really really daunting thing is talking to his parents and to his Aunt Keyleth, to find out if they'd be okay with his new name. If it wouldn't be too much. If it wouldn't hurt them if he claimed it - it would help him to have a name that fit, yes, but he doesn't want that at the cost of hurting his loved ones.
Isn't it lucky, after all, that they think it fits as well?
Gwendolyn
I think the thing that prompted the family moving from the manor and into the castle, out of Vex's own personal home and to Percy's family home which holds so many bad memories for him, is that someone made an attempt on Gwen's life.
After all, she's a tiefling, how can that be right or true! Her mother is a divine champion, her father freed Whitestone (and made a demon deal AND a devil contract, but how many people know about that? None likely to share them, except for Scanlan, and Scanlan is capable of tact on a rare day) - obviously this is some awful joke that needs to be Fixed.
"Fixed" just happens to mean at the end of a bloodied knife to some.
So someone got into the manor and someone attacked Gwen and between Trinket and the other children and the Grey Hunt members in the manor at the time, the person does not make it out well or even possibly alive. Gwen is unscathed.
But Percy and Vex have the very difficult discussion of what to do. Stay at the manor and try to increase security? And the manor is ideal for Vex, for diplomatic jobs to Emon (tree teleport with Keyleth), generally leaving out the main road) or jobs in the Parchwood (just outside city limits) or dealing with Hunt business (it is Grey Hunt headquarters) and it's hers, it was given to her by Percy, it means, so much - but their children mean more. And after the Briarwoods, Cass (who knows all the castle's secret passages) has made it frighteningly secure. They cannot make the manor the same kind of secure.
(The other children, the older children, are having nightmares, terrified that they'll wake up and find Gwen gone, or wake up and find someone standing over them with a knife, terrified in their own home-)
So they move up to the castle.
Gwen is so young she barely remembers - she learns later through some comment made by one of her siblings - but the rest of them remember. The rest of them cannot forget.

Adventures of Chika Hanabusa: The Restoration of Earth
Disclaimer: This book follows the events of Percy Jackson and Heros of Olympus fanfic, This fanfic will not include Trails of Apollo, The Kane Chronicles, and Magnus Chase.
Chapter 1: School Attack
Chika PoV
The alarm clock was going off and I quickly got out of bed. Today was Friday so I put on my green and white cheer uniform. The cheer uniform is a white pleated skirt with a green trim line, and the top is white with green spelling that says Oakwood Senior High School. I also pick up my scythe, which can transform into a pencil. I walked downstairs and saw my dad making scumble eggs and getting ready to work on the farm. My father is a buff Japanese guy who has scars around his arms, and he has a ponytail and a beard. He is wearing a farmer hat, flannel shirt, and jeans. His name is Isshin Hanabusa, and he use to be part of the Japanese military, but he decided to move to America to become a farmer. He met my godly mother, Demeter, at an agricultural convention and both fell in love with each other.
"How is your sleep, my precious princess? By the way, did you pack your scythe?" he asks as he hugged and kissed me on the cheeks. I’m very lucky to have a good dad, he taught me how to deal with the stresses of life and how to deal with the mythological world.
I hugged him back and kissed him on the forehead, "I did put my scythe in my pencil pouch in pencil form. Hey Dad, I’m happy that we get to have the farm and take care of animals. Once the game is over, I might make dinner later on.” I say as I winked at him.
He smile a calm smile and say in a soft voice, "Don't worry about dinner, I was thinking that we can have some food from Quickway Hibachi. Have fun at the game and maybe find a nice girl at your school.”
I blushed like crazy and say “Maybe, well anyway I must get going.”
“Don’t forget your pompoms and be a kickass cheerleader as always.” As he laughs while he hands me the pompoms.
“I will forever be a badass as always dad, maybe I could save a princess or a queen from danger. I can be like a superhero who can control plants or even the Earth.” I chuckle as I say that. I’m glad that my father accepted me as a lesbian demigod, I truly love him and I hope I can make him proud someday. I wonder if I can spend some time with my mother Demeter. I know that she's a goddess that must look after the Earth and feed all living things, someday I hope I can lighten her burden. I remember Demeter gifted me a scythe and told me the truth about what I am and hugs me very tightly and says she loves me and doesn't want me to be part of her world. She is still traumatized by how Hades just kidnaps her daughter and Zeus lets it happen. Mother doesn't love her brothers for what they did to her, and she will gladly sock all three of them in the face. Mother does get along with her sisters and always says nice things about Hera and Hestia to me and how all three of the girls are best friends. Mother also told me how she lived in Grandad Cronus's stomach and how she and her siblings defeated him in combat. Mother is very anxious for my safety, and she comes over from time to time and helps train me in case I have a huge prophecy. I'm the only one in the last thousand years to have a huge destiny for her kids, I guess she makes sure that none of her kids must deal with the mythological world or be pawns of other gods. I'm so glad that Mother is honest with me and lets me in her thoughts at times, hopefully, she is like this with my half-siblings. I wonder if I ever going to Camp Half-Blood or even Camp Jupiter.
I left my house, and I went to the bus stop. I get on my bus and it’s full of loud kids, I share a seat with an overweight kid who is growing a beard, his name is Dean Arlovski. Dean is not a bad kid and is always nice to me. He could have a crush on me because I do catch him staring at me a lot but I’m not sure, I may have to get a shirt that says I’m gay.
“I guess that today is a football game, you look nice in your cheer uniform. I hope you slept well. I’m curious, are you dating a football player.” Dean says in a shy, bumbling tone.
“Just because I’m a cheerleader doesn’t mean I date football players, I rather date volleyball players because they are just so awesome and cute. No offense Dean but you watched way too many high school movies, people are just way more than what activities they do. I do think that we should stop with the high school stereotypes, for example, I do karate on Mondays and Tuesdays, and I’m part of the environmental club. But those are just fun activities I do, my goal in life is to help improve the earth's ecosystem, travel the world, and analyze some wildlife." I say to him with an upbeat tone and I have to catch my breath.
“Those are very cool goals; I didn’t know that you have scientific goals.” He say in a surprised tone and had an excited smile and looking at me as if he made a scientific discovery that cheerleaders are more than just football players girlfriends.
The bus stops in front of my school which is a wide two-story building and the bricks were covered with white and green painting. I got into the school building and was greeted by a fellow cheerleader named Aisha, a curvy black girl who has a well-toned arm, I find pretty attractive.
"How was your sleep? I can't wait to pass the finals" Aisha yawned as she say that, she must have not slept well.
“Luckily finals are two months ahead, I got to go to my first period which is biology," I say in a high voice, which causes others to look at me weirdly. Curse my loud voice.
“I wish I had your enthusiastic nature. Btw I saw a scary regal-looking Latina who is trying to find you. She shares the first period with you, and I guess the counselor put you in charge of helping” Aisha says in a low, quiet voice.
"Oh, right I did volunteer, ok thanks I will find her," I say in an anxious tone, and my hands start shaking, I don’t want the new student to hate me, Relax Chika that’s just your anxiety talking, Chika take calm breaths I say to myself.
Just as I was about to run, The new student came behind me and say, “I guess you are my guide, I need to talk to you privately. My name is Reyna and I’m here to recruit you to Camp Jupiter.” Reyna says in a loud authoritative voice. Reyna is so pretty with her long braided dark hair, her nice, tanned complexation, and her dark eyes. She somehow makes a purple shirt and jeans look hot. I swear she looks like a queen who has been to wars with her toned arms and her legs have a lot of muscles hiding behind jeans. I notice she has a small facial scar as well; she could be a half-blood like me.
“Nice to meet you, my name is Chika Hanabusa and I will be your guide. You didn't tell me your last name but I'm pretty sure it's not important." I say while sweat is coming down my forehead while Reyna looks at me with the fiercest glare, I bet Reyna could literally stare at monsters and they start peeing their pants and ran from her. Chika, you must keep your cool in front of the attractive new student.
“It’s fine, I’m not comfortable with people learning my last name. I guess you are already aware of the fact that you are a half-blood. We must go before they appear." As Reyna finished her sentence, a group of huge burly men with big noise appear as the school rings, signaling first period. I know what these monsters are, they are the Laistrygonian Giants. One tried to punch me, but I ducked under the punch and give the undercut to the throat which caused him to hold his throat in pain. While he held his throat in agony, I took out my pencil and it transformed into a celestial bronze scythe. I sliced the giant head with my scythe, and I saw Reyna take out some gold sword and proceed to kill half the giants left and right. She cut these huge monsters like they were nothing, they were just lambs in a slaughter. Reyna must have killed monsters when she was kid, she makes like so easy.
As I was busy admiring her, the other giant front kicked me in the chest, and I was sent to the locker room. Oww, that hurts, luckily my backbones are fine and not broken. I moved out of the way while the giant charged toward the lockers, and I sliced him in the back with the scythe while his head is stuck in the lockers. I should have stayed focused on the enemies; I proceeded to dodge the blows of the two other giants and sliced both of their arms off. They screeched in pain and tried to tackle me to the ground, but I moved backward, and I jumped in the air and kicked both in the face and I used my scythe to slice across their necks and watch them down to golden dust. Reyna thrust her golden sword into the giant chest, and he shrieks in pain while he's turning to dust on Reyna's blade. The last giant managed to knock the scythe out of my hand and managed to bear hug me.
“You killed my brothers’ puny demigod, watch as I crush you with my holds. I am the strongest of my brothers, my name is Fraciso.” He says in a thick French accent while he’s laughing like one of those cartoony villains. Luckily, I managed to use my plant abilities to make the roots grow under him and tie around his body. The roots strangle his body and he cries in pain while I managed to free myself from his bear hug.
"I can't break out of these cursed roots, the roots are too strong. I can't believe I will be killed by plant roots." Fraciso says while he's trying to crawl against the constantly growing roots that become branches. I decided to just behead him with my scythe.
“There will be more monsters that will be coming. We will have to leave now; I will take you to camp. Don’t worry your father told me where you are, and he knows that you will come to Camp Jupiter” Reyna says as she takes her breath while she finishes off the last giant.
"Camp Jupiter is for Roam demigods, why am I going to Camp Jupiter," I asked in confusion.
"Because it's the closest to where we are at. Camp Half-Blood and Camp Jupiter decide to work together to recruit more demigods and we are allowed to look for Greek demigods while Camp Half-Blood is allowed to find Roman demigods. Why you didn’t use your powers that much?” Reyna asked as she’s giving me a questioning look and analyzed what my response will be.
"I didn't want to use my powers that much because my powers are not suited for places like the school or the office. Had we been on the football field, I would have been spamming my plant powers to kill as many monsters as possible. Before we go to Camp Jupiter, I want to cheer in the football game and just finish up the school day." As I explained in a calm voice. My back still aches from the bear hug and the kick to the lockers.
“I’m afraid we can’t do that; you will put your mortal friends in danger. I got a Pegasus waiting outside for us. Your father already packed your clothes and other belongings” Reyna says in a regretful tone, her eyes look sympathetic at me, it’s like she’s saying that I’m sorry that your life is not normal anymore. I was preparing for the day to leave my regular life, but I wish I had more time, hurray now off to death quests. I didn’t bother to change out my cheer uniform and we just walked straight to the parking lot with a white stallion with wings and my dad just waiting on it.

Percy Jackson Series Review (Spoilers for Whole Season 1!)
I finally watched the finale for the Percy Jackson series and figured I'll write a review for the whole season. Overall I think it was a good season, there were some really great moments and I think the cast did a really good of capturing the characters and the relationships from the books. However for me there were a few issues with the first season. So before getting into it, these are my own thoughts and opinions and there is a spoiler warning in effect from here on out, you have been warned. I'm going to start with my critiques first to get them out of the way and because I think its better to end on a good note. If you are someone who loved the show, believe it could do no wrong and don't want to hear any criticisms, feel free to skip over this section. For me personally though my critiques were enough of an issue for me that it did effect my enjoyment of the show at times which is why I want to talk about them, this wouldn't be an honest review if I didn't. But don't worry as long as my critique may be, my list of things I loved is even longer.
Critiques
Ok I'm sorry but I hated how whenever the heroes would show up at a monsters lair, eg medusa, the lotus casino and crusty's, they would instantly announce whose lair it was and how they trap their victims. To me this was just boring. In the books part of the fun was that they wouldn't immediately know but there would be little clues as to who they were dealing with. It added suspense, a sense of stakes and danger to those scenes in the book because you knew it was likely connected to a greek monster and you were waiting for the reveal, if you were a reader who knew greek mythology it was also fun to try and guess who the monster was before the reveal as well. But none of that was transferred over to the show. I have seen the argument made that well Sally taught Percy Greek Mythology in the series and Annabeth knows about Greek Mythology from camp so it makes more sense that they would know instantly and yeah doesn't stop it from being boring, sorry. For me I would rather something be suspenseful and exciting and have build up and have to adopt a bit of suspension of disbelief than have something that is technically realistic and makes sense and be boring, for me the worst crime a show can commit is to bore me. Besides them knowing Greek Mythology would be what allows them to figure it out just in the nick of time. After all the whole point is that these monsters have disguised themselves within the real world so that they can trick demi-gods etc, what would show these kids skills is them figuring out and defeating the monster just before they fall victim to them unlike the monsters other casualties. I guess what I am saying is there was a better way of showing that these kids were myth savvy and smart whilst still keeping the suspense and sense of danger. The way they did it made me feel like the characters were just hitting pause on the scene then going hold on let me just give the audience the cliff notes of this particular greek myth and then we'll get back to our regular scheduled viewing. It felt out of place, the dialogue was awkward to me and it was just the epitome of telling and not showing. The first time it happened I was a little disappointed but I shrugged it off, but as the season went on and it kept happening over and over I just got more frustrated with it, to the point that when Percy walked into Crusty's and announced 'I know who you are' I just rolled my eyes.
So the next criticism I have is the whole Lotus Casino scene. This scene was just a huge disappointment to me because once again it was boring. It started with our usual cliff notes break down of who the lotus people are and how they trap people with food (lotus flower) and then it was just them walking through the casino. Again in the book this scene is fun, the whole point of the casino is that it is so fun, so intoxicating that it distracts our heroes from their quest. They get taken in by it all and just become twelve year old kids, like that moment in the finale where Annabeth talks about how her dad wants to take her to Disneyland and Percy replies 'just be a kid' well the casino was supposed to be disneyland ok. It was supposed to be the fun place that every kid dreams of going and the place where a kid can just lose themselves in the fun and the wonder of it all. Instead in the show it was just lacklustre and underwhelming. Don't get me worng the scene with Hermes was amazing and I will talk about it more later, and I get the whole idea they were going with by having Annabeth and Percy not forget each other because they were together but Grover does forget because he was alone, I love that idea, it was a nice sentiment and good lesson but again I feel like it could have been done in a more exciting way. Percy and Annabeth could still have been distracted from the mission and had fun at the casion but maintained their memory of each other because they were together, they could have broken out of the 'spell' because they weren't alone and they could have had it so Grover finds it harder to break out of it because he was alone. Same message but whilst still keeping that sense of child like fun and wonder and excitement. I know many will hate me bringing the movies into it but in my opinion the movies did the casino scene better and I do wish the show had kept that level energy and excitement that the movie had in that scene, I do wonder though if part of the reason why they didn't go the route of showing the heroes having fun was because they didn't want there to be any comparison to the movie scene, like they wanted it to be so different that you wouldn't be able to make any connection between the two, but that's just me speculating.
Another thing is the whole deadline already passing change. Now the change itself I'm not upset by, I don't need the show to be an exact copy of the book and it was clearly set up to have that scene where Poseidon surrenders to save Percy, which I am definitely talking about that scene later in the things I loved part because that scene was just amazing. But my issue was first off the reaction of Percy and Annabeth when they realise how long they've been in the casino and they later learn that the deadline has passed. There is no sense of urgency or panic, they announce it like they are announcing a weather update, like oh we've wasted a load of time, we've missed the deadline, bummer. I just wish they had put a little more energy and urgency into that scene. Though to be clear I don't think this was an issue with the acting, as I said before I think the entire cast did an amazing job, but I do think there was an issue with direction and writing somewhere. Another issue I had with the passed deadline change is that we don't see the effect it has on the world. What I mean by that is in the books and I'm pretty sure the movie as well, it is made very clear what a war between the gods would look like to the human world, its natural disasters, storms, earthquakes, fires, tsunamis, you name it. In the books and movie, even though the deadline hasn't passed yet we see the effect of the gods merely preparing for war, it shows the stormy seas, the thunderclouds etc. But in the show nada, not even a grey cloud in sight.
Ok so those were my major criticisms, I know its a little long so apologies. The only other critiques I had were much less of an issue, I am a bit disappointed that Percy never spoke to the Zebra. It was a bit odd seeing as they mentioned the Zebra in the title of the episode, so I am not sure why they didn't include it, who knows maybe now that the show is on disney they thought Percy talking to horses and sea creatures was a little too disney princess and decided to remove it, again that's just speculation on my part, but I hope they do include it in season 2 if we get one, let percy jackson be a disney princess and talk to the flying ponies and fishes ok.
I also did feel like the pacing was sometimes a little off in places, it sometimes felt a bit rushed and like they could have added a little more context to some scenes even if it was just a couple of lines of dialogue, but these are very minor issues.
All The Best Bits.
Ok so now the criticism is out of the way lets focus on the good bits because there were plenty of them. First I want to start with the Greek Gods themselves because I really do think the show nailed them. I do think they tried to make them a bit more sympathetic in the show than they were in the books, because in the books it was very easy to hate them and it took a bit to warm up to them, as they were very dismissive and detached. Whereas in the show I think they found the perfect balance between showing their flaws when it comes to their children and in general but also adding some nuance and showing that they do care and love their children and they do struggle with having to stay away from them but also in showing how their absence effects their children. So first lets talk about Hermes.
Hermes
The scene between Annabeth, Percy and Hermes I think was one of my favourites of the season. I loved how when we first meet Hermes there's this fun, laid back feeling to him, he's just chilling in the casino with not a care in the world, but his entire demeanour changes the moment Luke is mentioned and you see how much of an emotional effect it is having on Hermes. The actor played that moment so so well, it really was great.
There was so many layers to that conversation between the three that made it so interesting to me. First it gives us some backstory on Luke and how the last time he saw Hermes they got into a fight but also how Hermes was warned to stay away but didn't listen and in the end made it worse for those he loves, then you've got the reveal that Poseidon was the one that warned Hermes to stay away and the reason why was because its too hard to watch your child suffer and not be able to do anything to stop it, which brings in the whole even gods feel powerless and how hard that is for a god to accept, that even they can't protect the ones they love and how that leads to the struggles of parenting. I mean the whole conversation was just layered with interesting topics and themes that you could spend hours picking apart. It genuinely made me feel so sorry for Hermes, which was new for me, because you could see what he was feeling, you weren't just hearing him say it, you could see how much he loves Luke, you could see how much it hurt him that his son hates him, you could see that he felt helpless to protect Luke and his mum, you could see the guilt he felt that every time he tried to help someone get to the underworld it always ended in them dying and you could see the fear that if his friends died Luke would only hate Hermes more.
I also loved that despite deliberately delaying them and saying he wouldn't help, he still does ultimately help them. He knew that Annabeth had picked his pocket and instead of stopping them he lets them take the car and leaves them instructions. I just really loved what they did with Hermes character and how much they did with his character in such a short scene.
Ares
Ares was another fun character, like he was surprisingly comical, I couldn't help but laugh when he started a fight on twitter and when he's describing the coming war between his father and uncle and he's practically got tears of joy in his eyes, like he is legit giddy at the idea and honestly does seem very in character for a god of war. But despite having those comical moments he was still threatening and terrifying when he needed to be, you still knew that this was a powerful being and that our heroes needed to tread carefully around him and that when he does threaten our heroes that threat is real.
The growing antagonism between Ares and Percy was also interesting to see, its very clear that Percy isn't a fan of Ares and that mutual dislike very quickly grows into hate between them. I loved that scene at the end of ep 5 when Percy says 'You think you know who I am but you don't. And if you're not careful you're going to find out.' It takes alot of guts to stand up to the literal god of war and I think this scene says alot about Percy's character and how he has this defiance and fight in him but also alot of bravery. Also this scene could have come across very silly and cheesy, its very difficult to have a 12 year old threaten a god and not have it come across as a bit ridiculous but I actually think they pulled it off and to me Percy seemed believable and intimidating in the moment.
I also think this scene leads really well to the fight between them on the beach at the end of the season. When Percy first suggests single combat, first blood wins, its understandable that Ares laughs at him. I mean when you look at it from Ares' pov he's an all powerful god of war and percy is 12. Of course Ares thinks the notion that this 12 year old, new demi-god could possible beat him and make good on his earlier threat, is utterly ludicrous. So Ares wasn't careful and then he found out. Course if you choose to fight a son of Poseidon on a beach right next to the ocean you deserve what's coming to you. But I still loved that moment when you've got little Percy being towered over by Ares, this tall muscular god, and then that wave just builds and towers over them both before it takes out Ares, allowing Percy to draw first blood whilst Ares is trying to regain his bearings. That was some top notch imagery right there, 10 out of 10.
Of course Ares doesn't take the defeat humbly and instead announces that Percy has made an enemy of him which honestly not an ideal situation for Percy to be on the bad side of the god of war, I do hope that doesn't have any consequences later on down the road, nah I'm sure it'll be fine, right.
Hephaestus
Another scene I really enjoyed was the scene between Annabeth and Hephaestus in the water park. Don't get me wrong I really loved the original scene in the book, it was actually one of my favourite book scenes and I loved how when all the cameras started recording Percy took a bow and said he hoped they (the gods) enjoyed the show. But I also really love this change they made with the golden chair. Not only did it add more greek mythology to the story it created that scene between Annabeth and Hephaestus. Like the scene with Hermes this scene told us alot about the gods and the kind of rules of that world. Annabeth says in her speech that its eat or be eaten, power and glory and nothing else matters. With just that one line we are painted a picture of a family and a world who backstab each and who only seem to care about how much power they can claim and how much glory they can gain. This ideology is also pushed onto the demigod children. You want your parent's attention well then you have to gain power and glory to get it and if you have to push others down or out of your way to do it then that's just the way it is and the way its meant to be.
You could see that Annabeth's speech really got to Hephaestus. When you think about his backstory, how he was thrown from mount Olympus by his own mother, how his wife is having an affair with his brother and they flaunt it in his face, how he tells Annabeth that despite what his brother may have said he is not a push over, its not surprising that Annabeth's words had an impact on him, he in particular has, quite literally, been injured by his own family and their ways, so it makes sense that he has sympathy for Annabeth. I think you can see this sympathy when he admits that he thought Athena had gone too far in her anger at Annabeth, I think he relates to Annabeth because he has seen her be rejected by her mother the same way he was rejected by his own mother. I also think the fact that he does show sympathy to Annabeth, that he does openly admit that some of the gods, himself included, don't like to be that way and the fact that he lets Percy go when Annabeth tells him that Percy is different, that he's better than that, all tells us alot about Hephaestus and makes him a sympathetic character. I am hoping to see more of him in future seasons and see where they take his character.
Hades
Hades was another one that was fun to watch. I mean you've got to admit he's a great host, he was very welcoming, he offered them snacks and beverages even threw in a few jokes to lighten the mood. He even waits politely for Percy to finish talking about how Hades and Ares stole the bolt before correcting him. I also found he was very relatable when he said that he wanted nothing to do with Zeus and Poseidon's drama over the bolt, my siblings also often get into dramas that I want no part in, Hades just wants to make an honest deal with Percy to get his helm back and then he'll happily return his mum.
What is really interesting though is that shift when he learns that Kronos is on the rise again. He becomes so afraid that he changes tact immediately and now feels like he needs the bolt to protect himself from Kronos. I feel like all these conversations the heroes have with each of the gods adds another layer to the gods. With Ares we learn that the gods like to backstab each other and claim power no matter what. With Hephaestus this is reinforced but we learn that not all of them want to be that way, with Hermes we learn that the gods can feel powerless, especially when it comes to watching their children struggle and with Hades we learn that even gods can fear. It also helps establish just how terrifying Kronos is that even the god of death is afraid of him.
But yeah, Hades was fun to watch, I think he often gets a bad rep in alot of modern media as being this evil villain but actually he's not in most greek myths, so its good that they show him here in a more nuanced light than just a villain, he just wants his helm back and when he does get it back he makes good on his promise and returns Sally. He's another character that I can't wait to see more of in future seasons.
Poseidon
They really teased us with Poseidon's character throughout the season, like we learned alot about him through other characters before we ever met him and it was interesting how Percy and his father's relationship grew even before they meet for the first time. To start with Percy is very understandably angry at his father, angry at his absence and believes that his father doesn't care about him or his mother. Despite that as we see from the way he is so determined to do well at capture the flag and win enough glory to get his father's attention that some part of him is still desperate for his father's approval and attention despite his anger at him. Things shift for Percy though after he falls from the arc and his father saves him and he has that conversation with the nymph or naiad where she relays a message from his father telling him he's there with him and that he's proud, that everything is going to be ok. Also this happens at a big moment for Percy because its the first time he realises that he can breath underwater. At the start of that underwater scene you can see how panicked he is and how he's desperately trying to pull his foot free, the fact that they paired that imagery with the voiceover saying how hard it is for his father to watch him struggle was really impactful, but this moment really shows the audience that Poseidon was not the uncaring and absent father we thought he was, he does care about his son, and in this moment when it wasn't possible to come himself he sent someone to speak for him, to reassure Percy that he was ok that he just needed to breath. For Percy this was the turning point for his relationship with his father and I think that was not just because his father saved him but because his father asked him to trust him and when Percy did he really was ok, he realised he could breathe underwater and was then able to get himself out of the water safely.
I think the fact that his father does care and is looking out for him and that it is hard for him to see Percy struggle is then further solidified when he speaks to Hermes, not only does Hermes repeat what the nymph said about Poseidon feeling powerless when watching Percy struggle but I think hearing the backstory of Luke and Hermes helped Percy understand how complicated the relationship between a demigod and their godly parent really is, helped him understand his father a bit more. I think it only made Percy more excited and eager to meet his dad though and we the audience were also excited that we'd finally get to see Poseidon, because they built that anticipation up over those first few episodes, just like Percy, we the audience were also disappointed when Poseidon isn't there because the Solstice passed.
Despite not physically being there though, the conversation between Percy and Nereid still told us alot about Poseidon as she was speaking his words, and I think it was very telling that the first thing Poseidon wants to tell his son is that its not his fault that he didn't get there before the deadline passed, that he was brave and strong and that Poseidon is still proud of him. I also love that even though he was released from his quest Percy is still determined to see the quest through and that Poseidon waits for him to make the choice himself and then gives him the pearls. I also love the change from the book where there are four pearls, I think they did this to show that Poseidon also cares about Sally.
Speaking of Sally, that flashback scene in ep 7 where she talks to Poseidon was so heartbreaking. Seeing her so broken and feeling like she is failing as a mother really pulls at your heartstrings but then when Poseidon does come he immediately reassures her. I also loved how when she says he doesn't want to know why she doesn't want Percy to go to camp, he still encourages her to tell him because he knows that she needs to get it off her chest and that she doesn't have anybody else to talk to. So even though it'll be painful for him to hear he still bears it for her sake, he allows her to talk it through and helps her come to a decision about their son's future. He doesn't get angry at her when she tells him that she wants Percy to know who he is before his family tries to tell him what they want him to be, he knows that she is right so instead he reassures her as best as he can and assures her that Percy will be stronger for it in the end because she, his mother, raised him well.
The moment when she asks him if he wants to talk to Percy just so he can hear his voice was another heart wrenching moment because its clear how much Poseidon longs to speak with his son. But then there is that rumble of thunder, almost like Zeus is warning him not to dare. But despite not speaking to him in that moment Poseidon says one day, when Percy knows who he is, where he belongs and what his true path is then he'll be right by his side. I think when he says this he is not just making this promise to Sally or to Percy, he's also promising himself it.
One little detail I did notice in this scene that kind of got at me though is that throughout their conversation Poseidon doesn't look at Sally once, it's like he can't bear too, she doesn't look at him either and its like its either too painful for them to make eye contact or like they feel its forbidden for them to look at each other. So instead Poseidon just stares either straight ahead or down at the bar, he doesn't look at her or at Percy. That is until Sally asks that question of does he want to talk to his son and that's when Poseidon looks over to Percy for the first time, he just can't help himself, he needs one glance and its such a simple gesture but in this context it is so emotional and moving, like honestly it was genius writing and the actors really sold it.
So now we are at my favourite scene in the season and that is the moment when Poseidon shows up to protect Percy from Zeus. This scene was just so amazing, like the significance of Poseidon surrendering to Zeus, it was more than just him surrendering the war and giving Zeus victory and glory, in that moment he was laying down his pride for the sake of his son. His son's life was more important to him than power or glory or pride and the significance of that moment is shown by Zeus' disbelief that Poseidon is doing this. For me I think it was a great emotional payoff and definitely worth them changing the plot so that the deadline had passed and that they were actually at war and not just preparing for it, allowing this surrender to happen. I think this moment also really proved to Percy that not only does his father love and care for him but that he is his father's top priority, that he really will do anything for him.
l also love how Poseidon calls Zeus out when he says Percy is forbidden and shouldn't exist, by pointing out that he had Thalia and like Thalia, Percy is a hero who will inspire others.
The conversation between Poseidon and Percy is also really moving, when Poseidon notes that obedience doesn't come naturally to Percy and that the sea doesn't like to be restrained I actually think he was proud to see those qualities in his son, that he very much does have the nature of the sea, like his father. The part when Percy asks if gods dream and if Poseidon ever dreams about Sally was very sweet and even though Poseidon doesn't say anything I think we all know what the answer is.
One thing that did strike me about the dynamic between Poseidon and Percy is that whenever Poseidon appears to Percy, whether that's through Nereid or himself directly, he is always there in a form of protection and reassurance. The first time when Percy falls from the arch, he physically protects him by saving him and then when Percy is panicking whilst trapped he reassures him, in ep 6 when Percy reaches the meeting place too late he protects him emotionally by reassuring him that its not his fault and then gives him the pearls as further protection to allow him to escape the underworld and then in the moment in the finale, he physically protects him from Zeus and also reassures him when Percy admits that he isn't obedient, adding the sir trying to be respectful because he's afraid his father might be upset with him, but Poseidon reassures him by saying that basically its the sea's nature to be untamed and Percy is of the sea. But yeah, I really do think that with Poseidon they really wanted to embody the idea of a Father's protection.
Zeus
Honestly we saw so little of Zeus that I don't have much to say. I think the actor did a good job of making him seem powerful, vengeful and terrifying. It was interesting that unlike Hades he seemed somewhat unbothered by the news that Kronos is trying to rise. I do think that this may have been a bit of a front though because Percy definitely hit a nerve with that line about Kronos coming to put Zeus back in his place and the whole your family only obey you out of fear not out of love.
The Luke Reveal
I'll be honest. I was a little worried about the reveal, having read the books I already knew that he was the true lightening thief and so knew the reveal was coming and my concern was that we hadn't really seen much of Luke or his friendship with Percy so I was a tad bit worried that the reveal wouldn't be all that impactful. But I am happy to say that I was wrong I actually think they did a really good job with the reveal and I would actually argue that it was better than even the book.
I am really glad that they added in the flashback scene of Luke helping Percy with his sword work in the beginning of the episode. Not only did it set up Percy defeating Ares but it also reminded the audience of that friendship between Luke and Percy. I very much got a sibling vibe from them, like Luke was an older brother that had taken Percy under his wing.
I feel like the way the wrote the reveal scene in the show added alot more nuance to it, in the books it was like yeah I betrayed you scorpion attack, but here it seems like both Luke and Percy are more conflicted. I believed Luke when he said that his actions weren't meant as a betrayal but a recruitment and that he was Percy's friend but that the god's were his enemy. It also seemed like Percy partly understood where Luke was coming from and hoped he could convince Luke to change his mind. The whole scene was very emotional and very tense and it went down hill fast after Percy mentioned Hermes and this brought out Luke's rage.
I think adding Annabeth to the scene and having her reveal herself when she did and announce that she heard everything, only heightened that tension and made it even more emotional. Now it wasn't just the betrayal Percy felt but we got to see the betrayal Annabeth felt. Also when Luke sees Annabeth, that look he gives her hits you right where it hurts and only adds to the heartbreak of it all, again the cast just did an amazing job, I don't have a single bad thing to say about any of their performances.
Another interesting detail in this scene though was the lighting. Because of the fireworks going off in the background it really did make some intriguing lighting choices. Like I noticed that as Percy is figuring out that Luke was the one who betrayed him, Luke was mostly lit in a red colour but around Percy the lightening was mostly greens, blues and that same golden colour that nereid glowed. Red associated with blood, war and danger and the blues, greens and golden colours associated with the sea. The changing lights also made it seem a little more creepy, like you are in one of those haunted mansion rides with flickering lights.
The Trio
The dynamic between the trio was also great to watch and to see grow as the season continued. I think each of them had their moments to shine and they worked really well off each other. I particularly loved seeing the friendship grow between Percy and Annabeth and seeing how close they became, their hugs were really cute and the comment made by Luke saying that they were like an old married couple was funny too and kinda accurate. I liked that at the beginning of the quest they were all kind of at odds with each other, Percy and Annabeth didn't particularly like each other and were very much strangers, Percy was still feeling a bit betrayed by Grover after the whole Nancy fountain thing and I think there was still tension between Grover and Annabeth because of Thalia. Having that tension at the beginning made it all the more satisfying to see them work through those issues and become stronger friends come the end of their quest.
Now some might think I am being negative about Grover here but I want to assure everyone that I mean this as a compliment not a slight but one thing that surprised me and that I thought was a great addition to his character is how manipulative and calculating Grover could be at times. And what I mean by that is like when he manipulated Ares into pretty much revealing that he was in on the theft of the lightening bolt, it was a really interesting side to Grover's character and honestly I hope we see more of that side of him in future seasons.
Another that I thought was interesting was Annabeth's relationship with her mother, especially as we never actually see Athena. It is clear that her mother's respect means alot to her and when her mother turns her back on her you can see that it really hurts her. I loved Annabeth's growth throughout the series, at the start she is very much chasing glory and wanting to go on a quest and prove herself, she's living the life the gods want her to live. But I think the more time she spends with Percy the more she sees that it shouldn't have to that way, which is why I love the moment when she chooses to stay after Percy is trapped in the chair and try to get him out, she chooses her friend over the glory she could win by completing the quest and over winning back her mother's approval.
Now when it comes to Percy I just think Walker really brought that character to life, I really cannot praise his performance enough. I loved his sass and his defiance and the fight he had. He had so many great moments throughout the season, I loved it whenever he stood up to the gods, like he knew no fear, they tried to say this is how its going to be and this is what you are going to do and he just said no, I'm going to do what is right, what my mother raised me to do and you're all going to have to deal with it. I mean its not necessarily the smartest move to speak back to god but I still admire his gumption.
Special Effects
I also really loved the visuals in the series, all the monsters looked great and I loved the aesthetic of camp, Olympus also looked amazing. The stand out for me though has to be Nereid. The glow and her seaweed hair, it just looked so beautiful and bewitching, so shout out the the special effects team.
There is probably so much more I could talk about, but this is getting really long so I am going to leave it here, my ask box is always open so if I missed anything feel free to message. Overall despite there being a couple of issues I think they could work on, I mostly really enjoyed the series and I really hope we get a season two, I'd definitely be interested in watching it.

In the double legacy Au how do the gods, montera or Camp react to percies legacy? Does he meet any Northa?
In the Magnus Chase series it's said that Children of Norse gods aren't "detectable" to monsters and gods UNTIL they die. And since Sally's a Legacy of LOKI one of the Norse gods most commonly associated with like misdirection and like avoiding traps (not counting the whole ''i invented the thing that finally caught me'' thing. Please keep nets away from the Jackson family. its like their only weakness. Also Loki being the inventor of nets might have something to do with how Percy was able to host that one Egyptian god, in that one side story, who ALSO invented nets, but that's off topic) the gods just have like, no fucking clue about it. As for the whole legacy of Venus, it's so far down the generational chain that it's barely even noticable, beyond the whole ''singing-charmspeak-siren-powers'' which Sally has basically forbidden/scared?(unintentionally) Percy into never using. By the time anyone (Zeus, Ares, or other ppl who don't like Percy) realizes that Sally's and therefore Percy's heritage is cross-pantheon he's already won the favor of like- ALL the greek minor gods -(did you know that their are over 3100 immortals in the greek-mythos idk how many of that number are gods, compared to like primordials, titans, nymps, giants, and naliads but like that numbers' HUGE)- when he turned down immortality, has the begrudgingly support of Nico's dad, and has like literally saved the world twice. They can't do anything to them without like starting a war. Zeus is like trigger-happy one second from zappo murdering Percy but he CANT because Percy is the Darling. Everyone likes him now, if Zeus were to harm Percy he would have not only both his brothers to deal with but also LITERALLY everyone (minus maybe Athena and Ares) would be out for his blood.
Percy himself doesn't even find out he's a legacy until like after son of Neptune when Venus, says some shit and then his mom tells him what's up after he, Bob, and friendly giant friend get rescued from Tartarus: Ice Age Addition. to help with the final battle. (Speaking of battle Sally helps fight in the battle against Kronos in book 5, with her Seax Knives!(i remembered what her viking weapons was called!))
I have this scene in my head where like Alex Ferrari or however their name is spelt, comes to camp half blood like- 2 weeks post Dirt Fite, because she was told that they need a legacy of loki to help them complete a quest and that legacy was at the camp. and he's arguing with annabeth something like-
"Why would there be a Legacy of Loki HERE?!?!!?!"
"idk, but that's what THEY said"
Percy overhears this and is like 'No.'
'no that is nOt HaPpEnInG'
No you are not taking my mom on a quest when she is 7 months pregnant with his unborn little sister. And ends up joining the quest and that's how they find out cuz Percy asked Alex
"what generation legacy?"
And Alex is like 'why does that matter's and Percy goes off 'cuz either the gods want to force HIS MOM on a quest or they want to take a newborn and... Like...NO!!!' NOT HAPPENING. Percy rage.exe happens, there might have been an earthquake. Alex points out that Percy can just go instead. Nico is also their and ends up tagging along. He is still mad about the whole Percy saving Nico via 'distracting him with a kiss and shoving him in the elevator' in Tartarus thing. (Percy has been avoiding the subject, but now can't cuz they are stuck on a quest together) shenanigans insue.

I saw your post on how there was no fallout/chapter about the aftermath of Tartarus and I think you're absolutely right.
You know, my biggest grip with RR's writing is that he very casually brushes over trauma, to the point where it's like there isn't any at all.
Sort of like what you said, but Percabeth and Tartarus is probably the biggest example of this writing issue. Percy and Annabeth falling into Tartarus and their experiences in there had to have some sort of effect on them, right?? Especially because they were there for at least two weeks, and also, even the GODS don't go there.
Like, it was made to be such a huge and important and deadly thing, and like... nothing ever came of it emotionally for those two. You never see them struggling from it, you never see them having to grapple with the fact that they weren't able to save the ones who helped them escape, you don't see them grappling with the fact that Percy almost killed a Goddess and manipulated a titan, you don't see Annabeth really dealing with her fears that it was her fault after the fact, fears that she voiced in HOH herself. You don't see her dealing with the fallout of Calypso's curse, or the fact that the two of them had practically no food down there.
They just appear completely fine afterwards. There's no lasting impact for them, and I know it's a middle grade story, so you can't add too much, but it just seems like Rick decided not to address it at all.
Nico has similar issues with his own Tartarus trauma, and one of the reasons that I'm not super excited for TSATS is because I have a feeling he and Will are going to get the same Tartarus trauma treatment as Percy and Annabeth.
I know this was long, but I'm seeing more and more people talk about how Rick handles trauma and it's brought up my main issue with Rick's writing in general.
Thanks for reading this lol, have a nice day! :)
Thanks so much for the message! I appreciate you responding and I totally agree with everything you said.
One of the biggest criticisms that I also have of RR’s writing is the way he deals with emotional trauma. He picks and chooses when he allows the characters to have a meaningful and reasonable emotional response to the events around them, and when he spends time exploring those emotions. There are so many times when he could have added so much meaning to a character’s arc, personality, and development, but Rick just brushes it off like it’s nothing, and it ends up making certain plot-lines feel really empty and non-impactful.
And honestly, the middle-school thing isn’t a good justification because this is the same franchise that touches on abuse, alcoholism, neglect, dying children, murder, etc. If Rick can have all of that in there, then he can take the time to explore the trauma and PTSD that the characters should have from certain events. He doesn’t even have to say the words “trauma” or “PTSD”; all he has to do is just literally explore the emotions in a satisfying way!
As for TSATS, I’m already annoyed with the Tartarus plot line because Tartarus really shouldn’t be a place where demigods are just popping in and out. It was such a big deal when Percabeth fell in there; writing a story where demigods are just willingly going in cheapens the whole thing. Also, I read the unedited preview for TSATS and I’m not loving Mark’s approach to the characters. Here’s to hoping the final version is better.

Remember when I said the trust prompt list was so good I couldn't pick just one?
May I ask for number 11: asking for advice, with Pike and Keyleth in Vamp Machina? Is that okay? <3
11. asking for advice this is the au!
Keyleth's regulars feel as precious to her as her neighbors back in Zephrah. Emon is huge, and it's easy to feel like a single leaf in a massive forest, nameless and forgettable. But when her regulars come in, when she greets them by name and asks them how their last poultice or potion or charm worked out for them, the forest becomes a single tree, and the leaves become her community.
Pike is among her favorite regulars, because she is one of the only people who knows the struggle Keyleth's living with. Like her, Pike has a vampire in her life she cares for dearly, but unlike her, Pike doesn't seem to wrestle with that fact. Pike talks about Grog openly, lovingly, like having a best friend who sometimes feels the overwhelming urge to sink his teeth into someone's jugular is just a normal thing that everyone has to deal with.
Of course, Pike doesn't have another best friend who has declared it his life's mission to rid the world of the scourge of vampires once and for all. She doesn't have another best friend who lives, sleeps, and breathes vampire slaying, who treats the killing of vampires like an art form, a craft to be honed and practiced and perfected. She doesn't have another best friend who is currently reeling from a betrayal so profound it's a wonder he's survived it at all.
Still, Pike seems to have mastered a zen-like calm when it comes to the topic of vampires, which is why Keyleth nearly launches herself over the counter when she comes in on an afternoon, likely to resupply on the herbs she uses for her homeopathic healing practice. "Pike!"
She grins and waves at Keyleth. "Hey! Hope you have come comfrey leaves in stock, because I am fresh out—"
"I need your help."
Pike pauses. "I mean, this is your store, but okay."
"No." Keyleth scurries around the counter, locks the door, and flips the sign to closed. "Percy knows."
Pike's eyes bug out of her head. "Oh. Okay. Well. I mean, we kinda figured this would happen eventually. How—"
"He walked in on Vax feeding on me," she breathes, and when Pike's jaw drops nearly to the floor, shame floods her so forcefully she staggers under its weight.
"Oh. Kay." Then Pike spins around marches toward the counter. "Got any booze?"
Which is how they end up on the floor of her tiny, cramped storeroom, passing a bottle of lukewarm rosé back and forth among the boxes of inventory as Keyleth sobs out the entire story. "And I-I-I don't know what to do!" She sniffles, blowing her nose with a napkin from her favorite Zemnian place around the corner. "Percy's...he's my best friend, and he hates me now, and he's gonna...he's gonna make me move out and I'm freaking out—"
"Keyleth!" She falls silent at Pike's shout. "Holy shit. First of all, Percy does not hate you."
"But he—"
"You can only get that mad at someone when you love them. And Percy loves you."
"Not anymore," she whispers, pulling her knees into her chest. "Not when I...when I..."
"When you love a vampire?" The tears fall fresh from Keyleth's eyes. "Have you even told him that?" She shakes her head. "Keyleth..."
"I thought if I said it out loud..." Keyleth doesn't even know how to finish the sentence. She buries her head in the circle of her arms.
A few moments later, there are two stubby arms wrapping around her back. "Keyleth, not telling Vax you love him isn't going stop you from loving him."
"I know," she groans miserably. "But I was so afraid of it being true, because if it were true, then Percy could find out."
"But Percy found out anyway!"
Keyleth lifts her head. "I know, and now he won't speak to me and Vax is keeping his distance because he doesn't want to make things worse and I...I feel like my life's falling apart, Pike."
Pike hugs her around the neck, and Keyleth cries into her shoulder. "Your life isn't falling apart," Pike tells her. "You have a store that you run very well—you know, when you don't close it in the middle of the day to cry to your customers—and you have friends who care about you and you have a really hot vampire who loves you a whole lot and you have a best friend who, yes, is mad at you, but who also has shit to work out that has nothing to do with you."
"It's not his fau—"
"If you say it's not his fault I'm never shopping here again." Keyleth falls silent. "It's not his fault what happened to him but it is his fault how he handles it. He doesn't get to take out his bullshit on you."
Keyleth rubs at her eyes with the heel of her palm. "I just want things to go back the way they were."
"Keyleth..." Pike rests a hand on her arm. "Things weren't sustainable the way they were. You deserve to love and be loved openly and hiding how you feel from Percy was never gonna work. And if he can't get on board, well...fuck him. He's not a good friend."
She chews on her lip. She doesn't want to admit that Pike is right, doesn't want to acknowledge that there's a real chance that she'll have to let Percy go if she is going to keep loving Vax. (Because what other choice does she have? He is the breath in her lungs, the sun on her skin, even in the darkest night. She has no choice but to love him now, no other recourse, because he is burned onto her skin, has burrowed into her chest and made a home of her ribcage. She did not know what it was to want before she met him, and now she wants as jealously, as zealously as a dragon covets its own hoard. It is staggering, and yet so very, very simple: she loves him.)
"Will you come with me?" she whispers, wrapping her fingers atop Pike's. "When I talk to Percy?"
Pike smiles, and Keyleth wonders briefly what her childhood might have looked like if she'd had a big sister like her. "Of course I will. I ain't afraid of no vampire slayer."
And when Keyleth hugs her, she feels a little less lonely than she had before.

💭 ROMANTIC HEADCANNONS ABOUT PERCY WEASLEY!
these headcannons are things that i wholeheartedly believe in and will forever defend.
this guy hates nicknames, he will forever throw hands with anyone who tries to give him a stupid lil nickname. however, he will let his lover choose one nickname to call him while they're out in public.
as for when they're at home? 😏 he likes to be called all sorts of lil nicknames, especially when they're getting hot and heavy with each other.
percy is the type of guy who isn't silent about his lover or his feelings for his lover, he expresses them greatly in any form possible. he loves telling his friends about them and will show them off at any point in time.
he takes photos of everything that goes on around him when he's with his lover, he loves seeing them react to stuff like animals, babies, old people, plants, historical places, museums, etc. he keeps a little photobook just full of pictures.
pda is a big no no for percy, but he does allow a kiss here or a peck there. he doesn't mind small cuddles like when his lover burrows themselves into his side or arms bc they're overwhelmed or tired. but full on kissing moments are just very stressful for him to deal with.
when he finally finds himself in a good financial position, he will go all out for date nights and night ins. he loves taking his lover out on lil dates to celebrate just about everything and anything: birthdays, promotions, engagements of friends, weddings of friends, family outings, baby showers, baby announcements, etc
percy isn't a pressurer. he will not pressure his lover into doing anything that they aren't comfortable with doing. this also loosely translates to: if you try and force my lover to do anything they're uncomfortable with, i will personally throw hands or kill you with my bare hands.
percy's main love language is words of affirmation which means he loves being told when he's doing a good job and if he's doing things the right way. this heavily ties into sexy times which makes him the sub between him and his lover 😈. his next love language is acts of service, he absolutely adores doing anything that his lover asks of him and almost always does it perfectly. he takes his time perfecting his performance and his abilities to ensure his lover always is happy. his third main love language is quality time, while he does love having time to himself, he likes to enjoy his alone time with his lover as they're presence calms him down and keeps him grounded. he will go anywhere and everywhere with his partner to keep them happy and smiling.
percy really is a gentle lover, and even in the dominant position he will always make sure that his lover gives their consent before he does anything to them. he never wants to hurt or frighten his lover as he knows what anger can do to someone's psyche.
he is family oriented, yet he is huge on not making his lover feel obligated to meet his family or become close/friends with his family either. he also doesn't want his lover to feel obligated or forced to have kids if they don't want any kids.
percy weasley is a lover not a fighter, as stated above in a different saying. but this doesn't mean he isn't willing to throw hands, as also stated above.
this might be a bit controversial but i believe that percy looks for the level of intelligence when looking into a potential lover. while it isn't his main priority, it is definitely a big part in determining whether or not his lover and him would be able to have a life together. his main priority his personality, if they're personalities don't match or if they don't fit in with his family's personality, then he doesn't even dare consider them a possibility in his love life.
percy is the man who will always be the gentleman, and will go on to teach his children the ways of a gentleman ( irregardless of their given gender identity ), as he believes that all people should behave gentlemanly.
he will open doors for his lover, he will open car doors, he will lay down his jacket over a puddle, or lift his lover over a ledge. he will put his hands over the corners of tabletops or countertops to prevent his lover from hitting their heads. he constantly watches his lover's water intake cuz he knows that people frequently forget to drink water. he pays attention to what his lover orders and remembers for next time so that his lover always gets something to eat ( even if his lover tells him they're not hungry ).
he will befriend his lover's friends because be knows they aren't his enemy, but his only source for his lover's secrets and desires. he will always do what it takes to ensure his lover's happiness, and that means making sure that his lover's friends are happy too.
he always invites his lover's friends if his lover and him are going out for dinner or to an event, after becoming financially stable, he wanted to provide for his lover whenever he could.
he goes all out for birthdays and other big celebrations like holidays or announcements.
he's the typical roses, suits, and chocolates type of guy when it comes to celebrating valentines or easter or something like that.
he doesn't get overly jealous, he won't condemn his lover from having male friends or judge his lover for their choice of friends either. he will get involved if he feels like the male friend is getting too handsy or too aggressively flirty; this goes for old friends and newer friends.
percy doesn't judge. his lover can identify in any sort of way and he will always love his lover for who they are as a person, which also leads me to believe that percy is pansexual and demisexual; translating that he only goes for someone if he develops a true and deep emotional connection/attachment to the person he wishes to romance.

I’m heading to bed now, but please talk about parallels. We’re going to be besties bro
>:) yes, absolutely, thank you-
Here is a list of the most recent parallels thoughts I have had yesterday alone:
I want to put Romane Berthauds in a time loop. That's the entire thought. (I mean, I've drafted a post about this, but it. Does not sound normal. So.)
I could make a fic with four chapters, each of which features the small child version of a main character somehow ending up time traveling to interact with the present versions of the other three. It would not explain how that happened whatsoever, except that each chapter takes place in a different timeline. I almost certainly will not actually write this, but it's a fun idea.
Stupid AU where it’s the parallels characters but the plot and setting are. uh. Vaguely based on Greek mythology. (I have a bad habit of combining my interests into weird ideas, and I've been listening to Epic the musical, so now the parallels kids get swords. And angst, I guess.)
On that note, my Percy Jackson-inspired AU (which is separate from the aforementioned AU and also less nonsensical) has recently been haunting me to the point of me turning in a scene from it for a creative writing assignment a few weeks ago. I ended up writing double the amount I was supposed to, but I also got a hundred on the assignment, so. Who's the real winner here.
The direct contrast between Romane and Victor's first interactions with their respective parents after traveling back. "Mom. It's me. […] Mom, look at me. It's me. I'm your daughter. I can tell you recognize me." Romane being so confident that her mom will recognize her. She knows her mom will see her. She knows her mom will see her and know it's her. Whereas, Victor is fully confident that his dad won't recognize him. He's taking his opportunity to take out his frustrations with his father under the cover of anonymity. And he's halfway right, because Arnaud doesn't recognize him until Victor's up in his face, yelling about how Arnaud has always wanted to hit him. (Not even going to get into that; that's a whole separate post.) But when his dad recognizes him, Victor isn't expecting it. Idk where I was going with this.
Several years post-canon fic idea where the main four move in together after high school. I don't have any reasoning other than I think it would be neat. I have half of one scene and half of another scene written for this. (We could add them and pretend I've written an entire scene, but…there wouldn't be much point to doing that.)
I think the "I remember everything" line in the finale was…not true. I think the kids thought they did, for a few minutes. Then they realized there were some gaps in their memories, and some things were less sharp than others. And Romane, Victor, and Bilal all get flashbacks, but Bilal's are definitely the hardest to deal with, since his memories are the most complex due to the timeline stuff.
I think that, while post-canon Bilal does have a genuine interest in physics, he also knows that a huge reason he went into physics in the other timeline was to try and save Sam and Victor. And now that he doesn't need to do that anymore, he's left unsure of whether he should still go in that direction. It's a different timeline; he's supposed to do things differently, right? But then again, he doesn't want to make decisions based just on that, and he does like the idea of studying physics. But there's also the irrational worry that something like the night in the bunker could happen again, which he knows doesn't make a lot of sense, but the thought is still there. So his thoughts kind of spiral for a little while on the topic of career. He eventually decides to stick with the physics route, though, after giving it a lot of thought.
Something about Victor and Sam being only a year apart, while Romane and Camille are farther apart in age? Yeah, I had no further thoughts on that, I just think about sibling dynamics a lot.
I think Sam has a lot of issues as a result of his parents and their whole family dynamic, they just show up a lot more subtly than Victor's parental issues do.
I wish Sofia and Victor interacted more in the show.
I think Victor Deslandes has ADHD. (I say this as if I haven't said it a thousand times already) also I think he's aromantic. I already made posts about both headcanons but I like talking, so I'm mentioning them again!
and while we're restating headcanons: the same way victor's powers kind of serve as a tangible outlet for his emotions, with anger usually being the catalyst - i think romane's powers do the same thing, but the catalyst with her powers is more of a freeze response to panic. i think i have a post where i word this better, somewhere? idk.
also i think it's interesting how a version of alice and arnaud realized the true extent of the emotional damage they had caused, but it's just before the kids travel back. so sam and victor never get the full resolution there, because their parents will never know what the tension in their family actually led to. and i have specific thoughts on how this lack of satisfying closure is kind of a theme with victor's relationship with his parents, but i unfortunately don't have time to expand on that right now. but. the thoughts are somewhere in my drafts, so maybe i'll expand on that concept later.
And then there's the thoughts that are always in the back of my mind, which are: I would die for the parallels kids. I need to rewatch parallels. hey I think maybe I'll cry over Romane and Victor's friendship in particular today.
anyways, those are just a few of yesterday's thoughts off the top of my head. i'm sure i have better thoughts that i can't remember, but i wrote most of this at like three AM, so my thoughts are. scattered.
thanks for the ask!!! :)

Hey ! i was scrolling through tumblr the other day and I saw a post where you suggested to a friend that you could see Percy playing Frollo for a Hunchback of Notre Dam au, and I was just curious as to why you chose Percy for him. Not trying to start an argument or anything! I’m genuinely curious because for some reason…… in another world, I feel like Esmeralda and Frollo could’ve been like Percy and Vex idkplzdontjudge 🫣
I'm not gonna start an argument, but this is my blog and I will point out that if you think Percival 'one of his two ever Rez offerings was singing in Celestial to a dead child' 'knew he had a Thing for Vex for ages and never acted on it because he knew it would be unhealthy as he was' de Rolo the third is anything like Judge 'racist as hell and wanted to drown a baby in the well in the movie / blamed an entire culture for his brother's choices and treated a whole ass infant as a divine test' 'just. Everything with Esmeralda' Frollo...
yeah you're probably on the wrong blog. I am absolutely judging you, and recommend you give the source material of both CR and the Hunchback another look.
The reason I chose Percy is because it's a Broadway AU - they are extremely talented artists playing a role! I don't think you believe the people playing The Phantom or Frollo or the Heathers are actually like that in life, right?
I suggested this because:
I think Percy would have fun with obviously, transparently villainous roles, where he can't inadvertently blur that line and project his negative feelings on himself, in canon he does seem to enjoy making those he dislikes squirm and he has a good understanding of darkness. He could play excellent villains, and they would be a good way of reminding himself that 'oh yeah my post-Briarwoods years were not the best, but holy hells this fucker is a shitshow'. Percy would also have the imposing bearing and voice for the role, and would relish in the dramatics it would entail. Also he'd rock a villain song ok.
Vex as Esmeralda and Scanlan as the titular Hunchback would be great! The two characters constantly presenting masks and dealing with how society perceives them getting to play around with these characters? Fuck yeah. By extension, Percy and Scanlan's fraught relationship (Percy was absolutely going to hunt down Scanlan and steal back Mythcarver and his gun if Vex hadn't calmed him down, Taliesin confirmed this! He was furious at him for leaving!) would actually get space on stage here, and potentially build to in-universe drama if Percy thinks it's all good acting when its actually cutting too deep for Scanlan, given how readily he brushes off hurts until he explodes. So Percy = Frollo is also, in a way, about Scanlan = Hunchback and Vex = Esmeralda. It's not all about the OTP, but their interactions with another important character. Which brings me to my final point:
Vex would trust him in this role. Esmeralda would be a hugely resonant role for Vex, depending on how her canon backstory and insecurities translate to a modern AU like this. I am white, so I can't comment on how a probably-mixed woman who dealt with a lot of discrimination/potentially fetishizing due to her ancestry (while also potentially feeling cut off from it if Syldor took the twins from Elaina as in canon) and at best emotional neglect would relate to a Roma woman on the outskirts who is lusted after a creep and trying to insist on seeing the good in the world... but I suspect it would be a big deal. Vex would be ludicrously vulnerable and impacted by this role. Percy would know what lines not to cross during the performance, and practice, and blocking, and so on. He can be the antagonist to a role Vex would likely get deep into the headspace for without allowing her to get hurt.
I hope that makes a bit more sense as to why I suggested that for Lis' AU, anon! Tldr is because Percy is the absolute opposite of that fuckwit and could safely play the role, even have fun with some aspects (he'd kill Hellfire omg), without hurting Vex in the process.

so I finally got around to watching the PJO show and to be honest, I'm kinda disappointed by the pilot, so much so that I debate even trying later episodes. I understand that changes are always made in adaptations (even when it drives book readers crazy because all you have to do is follow the plot RIGHT THERE but I digress) and with RR on board I fully expected them to be minor or even slight improvements and yet...it seems like these changes in the first episode alone detract more than they benefit the characters or the story. be warned, rant incoming with no particular coherence.
Percy is told all about mythology by his mom throughout his entire life? (while it is sweet to hear how Sally tells Percy about the origins of his name, the idea that Percy is already a mythology expert will probably impact how he interacts with the godly world later on and it could even impact his relationship with a young Annabeth who prides herself on knowing everything in their world.)
Percy gets weird vibrations from Riptide before the big reveal? (I thought Percy wasn't supposed to even know about Riptide until "Mr. Brunner" tosses it to him in the midst of battle; why would a sword with no personal connection him be resonating like that yet?)
Dodds approaches him instantly, out in public? (the big battle between Percy and a Kindly One, instead of being dramatically held in the empty museum hall surrounded by evidence and history of their world, is shown in a showdown that didn't build any tension or confusion but instead was over in seconds without seeing Percy even do anything! seriously, all it looked like was that Percy fell down and Mrs. Dodd's accidentally impaled herself on a sword she didn't even notice him holding when she tackled him.)
Percy gets disciplined for the Nancy thing and Grover throws him under the bus!? (Grover, our best boy, great loyal friend, in Percy's POV, betrays him in the face of authority by telling a lie. WHY? was it because they didn't want to show the rest of the school year of the whole school gaslighting him? didn't want to show him stressing over finals and overhearing the conversation between Grover and "Mr. Brunner", or listening to Chiron's truly awful "it'll be alright" speech, or even him worrying about bullies and Grover the next year? so instead of just having Percy stick to his story and being summarily expelled...they have Grover LIE, make Percy feel isolated by his only friend, and miss out on more of his dynamic with Brunner which fuels how connected he is to Chiron as a mentor. so now it will seem like any bond between them is manufactured from almost nothing.)
Percy doesn't take the bus home with Grover (duh!), doesn't get the Half Blood Hill card, and has zero interaction with the Fates and seeing the string cut? (this is hugely plot relevant and I'm not sure if it will come up later, but what was the reasoning in removing the Fates scene?)
There's some kind of casual repartee between him and Gabe? (instead of rage or frustration or anger, Percy just looks like he's dealing with a spoiled toddler that he's too annoyed to be bothered with; granted neither of them look like best buddies but there is a stunning difference between this and the outright hostility that was present in the book. it'll be hard to truly buy into his desire to kill Gabe later on instead of just telling his mom to divorce him or something.)
Sally isn't there to welcome him home? (so first of all, Sally was not forced to work by Gabe on the day that her baby boy came home and you're telling me that she chose to have Percy make his own way home and be greeted by Gabe while she waited outside just chilling in the rain with melodic music??? what have you done with my Sally Jackson??? this is not the mother who worries about her little boy or is scared of Gabe and how he treats him)
Sally shows much more dominance in her relationship with Gabe? (I don't love that Sally shackled herself to the human garbage can that is Gabe Ugliano in the books, but the show certainly adjusts their dynamic in a way that changes quite a lot: when Percy expresses his fear over what's been happening mythology wise, Sally yells for Gabe to summon him from the other room...and he comes immediately...to which he is one-sidedly informed that she and Percy are going to Montauk, no permission needed. Sally and Gabe then proceed to have a silly argument about sandwiches in which Sally holds all the power and Gabe caves. I didn't get the sense that Sally was afraid of Gabe's reaction at all. He is the required but not appreciated partner on a necessary group project at best, not an abusive husband that she fears and suffers from for her son or that she or Percy truly have a reason to hate him to death.)
Percy opens up, unprompted by Sally, about what happened on the field trip and she uses the same over dramatic prompts and weighted pauses that every fantastical movie or tv show does in order to reveal or extract important information and that PJO eschewed so expertly until now.
Sally gets him to talk and then tells him her knowledge of what happened. (She also takes the time to tell Percy that they come to the cabin because it's where she met his father....didn't he already know that??? Apparently instead of it being a regular story, this is the first time Percy is hearing anything about his father??? Sally tells him his father is a god, and about halfbloods??? It was agreed that Sally explains things? If that was the plan and not a sudden decision then why does she suck at it? She's so vague and confused and unprepared!)
Apparently the Mist blocked GROVER, a satyr, from seeing things? (so instead of Sally breaking away and escaping to Montauk, delaying Grover in tracking her down, which is a reasonable explanation...it's now that a mythical creature is blocked by the thing that exists to block mortal beings from seeing they mythical?)
No line about donkey vs. goat? (granted, this isn't a big deal, but it's great characterization to have Grover and Percy bicker, learn more about Satyrs, and have poor Sally pull the mom voice from the front seat all while in a high stakes race)
The lightning didn't hit their car and Sally battles a Minotaur with the car instead of her wits? (...I don't even know, minor changes that take away from the brilliance that is Sally Jackson.)
Everything is so poorly lit that I literally can't tell what's going on. (do moons not exists in movies anymore? why does ambient light never play a role? I'm sure Artemis would've been curious to look down on a boy who chose to protect his satyr friend and mother over rescuing himself!)
Grover is totally conscious so that Sally can get an oath of protection from him for Percy? (even though it is his literal job to be a protector of halfbloods and Percy specifically? there was no narrative need for this change; maybe they wanted Grover to look better, but him getting knocked unconscious because of Zeus' lightning bolt is hardly something he could've controlled! getting rid of that part for this oath is so pointless)
Percy...chooses...to separate from his mom? (Percy doesn't need to part with her because he's carrying Grover up the hill...and he is somehow convinced to voluntarily leave his mom behind in a dangerous monster-ridden forest while he crosses the border safely? instead of them all trying to get up together?)
Percy fights with Riptide???? (A sword he should not have yet? Instead of his bare hands, pure rage, and water enhanced abilities alone? again, no narrative need for this yet)
GROVER carries PERCY across the border? (and is welcomed by a whole group of people who were, what, just chilling by Thalia's Pine and watching this all play out?)

Any thoughts on Werewolf!Percy?
I love the idea of werewolf Percy! 😍 I've thought about writing a story with this concept a million times, but I haven't got around to it yet.
Let me be clear - I do not want to see this used as a punishment for Percy. First of all, he doesn't deserve/need a punishment (I hate when people say that), and second of all, there's way too many connections with HIV for me to be even remotely comfortable with Percy (who is clearly Queer in some way) being "punished" by getting this disease.
Other than that, I think this could be taken in so many interesting directions (particularly if it takes place between Books 4-6). Sadly, there's not many werewolf Percy stories out there, which is a shame, because it would completely change Percy's story arc:
The Ministry of Magic is horribly prejudiced against werewolves, so Percy loses his job and comes to the realization that the Ministry is unjust and bigoted. Most wizards (including most of the main characters) don't really give much thought to creatures' rights or the harsh reality of being a werewolf. Now, Percy has to come face to face with that reality and the idea that the Wizarding World (as a whole) is far more flawed than he originally thought.
He has to find a new career while dealing with the stigmatism of being a werewolf, plus trying to cope with the physical and emotional changes. I imagine this all leads to him analyzing his preconceived notions, reexamining his priorities, and it ultimately encourages him to believe that the Ministry needs to undergo some radical changes. I also like the idea of Percy learning to live more off the land and in nature (because he doesn't have much of a choice). I think he would ultimately find peace in that lifestyle and be happy with it, but there would be a lot of humor along the way (oh bloody hell, there's a giant bug coming towards me).
That being said, I do not want him to be forced to grovel to his parents/family for help. I want him to figure it out on his own. However, I would like it if this caused him to reach out to Remus. I would love to see Percy and Remus bonding, and frankly, I think it would be good for Remus too, because it doesn't matter that he got married and had a baby; he is still a mess in Book 7 and could use a friend who understands what he is going through.
It would also be interesting to see how this ties into Bill's attack in Book 6. Do the Weasleys even know that Percy is a werewolf? If so, does Bill reach out to him because he had such a close call himself? And if the Weasleys don't know, does Percy reach out to Bill because he heard about the attack but never learned of the outcome?
In addition, does Percy become a spy in an entirely different way than anyone would expect, having to blend in with Greyback and his gang? How does this effect his romantic relationships? Does he opt not to have kids (because it's such a huge risk)? If so, do he and Charlie grow closer because of it?
You could even add in A/B/O dynamics (one of my personal favorites) or pack mentality. There's just so many possibilities, and I love it! If anyone writes something with werewolf Percy, please let me know, because I will 100% read it! 🥰
Thanks for the ask! 😊
