I have decided for my personal entertainment that Clarisse de Cagliostro is related to Lupin III, and here's why.

-pulls out Arsène Lupin's Wikipedia page-

In the novel La Comtesse de Cagliostro, a young Arsène Lupin (at the time going by the name Raoul d'Andrésy) was courting Clarisse d'Etigues, a young lady of a well-to-do family, and trying to win her hand, despite her father's disapproval.

Throughout the course of the novel, Lupin meets and falls in love with Joséphine Balsamo, aka the Countess of Cagliostro, and abandons Clarisse in favour of her. To clarify, Joséphine is not actually countess of anything, she is (or claims to be) a descendant of Giuseppe Balsamo aka the Count of Cagliostro (who was also count of jack shit), a famous conman from the 18th century.

Shenanigans ensue, which I will not go into in details on, but oh my god I am insane about Raoul and Joséphine, I want to dissect them and study them under a microscope. It turns out Joséphine aka Cagliostro is evil as fuck, Raoul/Lupin realizes that and goes back to Clarisse (whom he had previously abandoned like an old sock, I fucking hate this guy), marries her, and a few years later has her kid.

Unfortunately Clarisse dies in childbirth, and Joséphine, who was still around and very very pissed at Lupin (and jealous as hell of Clarisse whom, may I mention, had never personally antagonized her in any way whatsoever, Joséphine is just fucking bonkers). Joséphine also kidnaps Lupin and Clarisse's son, Jean, and raises him as her own son. (I have not yet read the following novel The revenge of Cagliostro so I don't really know what Jean's deal is, I just know he's an antagonist).

The following is my headcanon, based on these events. In the universe of Lupin III, Joséphine Balsamo was actually countess of the small kingdom of Cagliostro (maybe Giuseppe was count, maybe he conned his way into becoming count, maybe he bought the land and built a fake kingdom with a fake history, who knows).

After the events of The revenge of Cagliostro, Jean settles down in the country of Cagliostro, gets married, has a child, and that child will later have a daughter of their own, who they name Clarisse, after their late grandmother. Clarisse de Cagliostro, of Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro fame, would thus be the great-grand-daughter of Arsène Lupin, making her Lupin III's cousin/niece/whatever you call this specific degree of separation.

I am choosing to make Clarisse de Cagliostro a great-granddaughter of Arsène Lupin, rather than a granddaughter, because Arsène Lupin was very young when the events I described unfolded: he is 20 years old when he meets Clarisse d'Etigues and the whole Cagliostro debacle happens, and 25 by the time Jean is born. I'm assuming he had Lupin II much later in his life. So Jean and Lupin II (half-brothers) would have a significant difference in age, and so Jean's hypothetical child (grandchild of Arsène Lupin, so of the same generation of Lupin III) would be much older than Lupin III. Clarisse de Cagliostro is younger than him, maybe around the same age if you stretch it, so she's have to be a great-grandchild.

Now I need to read The revenge of Cagliostro and study Arsène Lupin's wikipedia page in more detail to determine when exactly Lupin II was born and who his mother was. And also where Albert's family branched out, because the fact that he's called D'Andrésy should theoretically place him as a descendant of Arsène Lupin's mother but not of Arsène Lupin himself; but Jean was also going by that last name, so who fucking knows.

Alright, I can see why it seems that I'm being a hypocrite. I'll try to explain myself in the best way I can, even if I question your wording.

I don't hate power imbalance and noncon/dubcon at all. They're some of my favorite tropes, and I am not particularly shy in talking about it :P and it's precisely because I an fascinated by them that poor writing incenses me and I can't stop thinking about it. However, this is the part I have to highlight: poor writing in official products, because comparing a very popular Netflix show written by a respected professional who got paid and promoted for his work, with a 20 kudos fanfiction written by some nameless teen for free, is disingenuous. One has tremendous reach and the other has not.

In the responses in that post (I'm assuming you're talking about this one - hope it's this one because otherwise I'd look dumb lol), I eventually said "I have more respect for the fans who just find the abuse hot". There are thousands of fanfics that are irrealistic when it comes to abusive dynamics, that are literally nothing more than fetish fuel - and that's fine. I wouldn't read them, I would appreciate if people did more research, but they're harmless. Disgust is not harm and in this I have not changed my mind.

My problem with that particular ship is not necessarily the "noncon" part (which is not even noncon: it's dubcon, it's deliberately murky). It's that the noncon part, and not even in a porn fic but in an official product that is praised for the depth of its writing, gets brushed off, because the writing was rushed and made artificially more "wholesome". The dissonance of morals is too big for me to ignore, and the resounding success that it got from its audience even more so - not even from the "step on me mommy" crowd or the "wow I love toxic relationships, they're so fucked up <3" crowd (hell I'm one of them), but from the people who genuinely agree with the story that "yes, this is cute".

I wouldn't care so much if this was just a non-canon ship. There are plenty of popular non-canon ships that make me angry because I think they have a terrible dynamic and I don't understand the appeal. I don't care. But this is not a ship, it's not just some dozens of fans findind two characters hot: this is a story. And this changes everything.

I believe that an official product, that is incidentally praised by nearly everyone, should have been more responsible with its messages. Not in a "fiction affects reality" way, but in a "this story is terribly written, I try to understand why I seem to be in the minority in thinking so, and the justifications are eerily reminiscent of real life abuse apologism" way. I'm not saying that NFCV fans will watch the show and think "oh boy! my eyes have been opened! maybe if I, a woman, raped a man into slavery, he'll love me too!"... but let's be real: unlike the boogeyman of incest, female-on-male abuse is still widely misunderstood. Rape that is not "man violently forces himself on a woman he doesn't know" is still widely misunderstood. The show had the chance to challenge those misconceptions, but instead, it only confirmed them. The fact that it happened mostly out of shoddy writing makes it even worse, because there is not even full authorial intent.

I can safely say that the overwhelming majority of people who draw porn of Tails are well aware that sexualizing real kids is wrong. This sort of moral cannot be influenced by porn, because it's too rooted in our consciousness (people who sexualize real life kids are born that way and it's a completely different topic). Those people have their own reasons for drawing that kind of porn. I don't want to know them, I don't want to see them, please keep it in your corner and tag your shit, but it's just tasteless fanart at worst and I don't care. I grew up in a much edgier era when genuine graphic torture porn was written for no reason other than to shock others, so I don't really bother to wonder why someone would write or draw something disgusting. As long as it's avoidable, it's fine. It's harder to avoid a popular official product that is always touted as an example of excellent writing and also happens to be the adaptation of a franchise I've grown to love, considered superior to said franchise to boot.

It doesn't help that there is proof of the writer in question being a prolific sex pest whose crimes eerily match its writing. So in his case, I do wonder why he wrote certain things.

Just as a note, I don't really talk about it here, but I used to be a fierce anti-Twilight back in the day, and it was for similar reasons: I was appalled at that series' sexism and misanthropy and abuse apologism and I thought it was a real issue, because I think widespread stories ought to be more careful with their themes than fanfics and fanart. Not even necessarily to "teach" a lesson (NFCV is for adults anyway, it's not meant to be educational), but... well, as respect for your audience, you know?

And as for the people who don't see any issue... again, I don't want to assume anything about their morals. Maybe for them it really is just an intriguing ship. But I would like to at least urge someone to think about what they're saying, because when you say "no, he wasn't raped, merely seduced, and anyway he deserved it for being stupid, and he got a good deal out of it so why did he have to ruin such a beautiful relationship?", now that is the thing that could affect real people, not shipping a 12 yo and a 15 yo cartoon hedgehogs.

tl;dr: official stories and ships/fan content have different impacts and I judge them differently. This also happened to be about a topic I very much care about.

Hidden beneath the "keep reading" button is a screenshot of a conversation my good tumblr friend @graylu-heartbuster sent me. She gave me permission to post this and @ her. She frequently has discussions with Fairy Tail fans online, and as such, she often meets more than unsavory individuals.

This particular one is a Pro gr///vian who was so angered by my friend shipping differently than them that they dared to tell her to harm herself. (In very graphic language too, so please be safe and don't continue to read if that triggers you).

This is an example of an actually despicable human being. Some people have fragile mental states. For those people, seeing someone tell you to do this to yourself and call you all of these slurs could very well be the tipping point, all over defending an anime ship??????

And of course the person receiving this hate doesn’t need to be in a bad place mentally in order for this act to be absolutely despicable. It’s disgusting no matter whom this is said to.

Honestly, I'm appalled by this person.

The purpose of this post isn't to shame all Pros because most of them are not like this, and there are these types in every part of every fandom.

But this does show that some people cannot distinguish fiction from reality, which is what I've been warning against almost since the beginning of my blog.

The line is so blurred for this person that they reacted to my friend's aversion to gr///via with the same venom as if they were juvia, and as if my friend had besmirched her honor in the most horrific way.

It only helps prove my theory that some of the Pros are just as delusional as juvia which is why they worship her, using her as a self-insert.

Because who in their right mind would tell someone to end themselves because they don't ship what you do and ship something else?

This is why I hate it when people (in particular, I've heard it a lot from Pros in defense of gr///via) say "oh, fiction isn't reality, and fiction doesn't affect reality at all, so you can do whatever you want in fiction with no consequences!", because guess what, fiction does affect reality.

Fiction is a major driving force in culture. It is often used as a vehicle for pushing agendas and belief systems, and the way fictional characters react to things being preached to them and how the story unfolds because of it are very telling. Fiction also clearly entrances people so much they're willing to go to such extremes in its defense. Some people can parse out that they like juvia and gr///via because they're separating fiction from reality, but clearly some people are wholly unable to do so.

It would be very easy to see how juvia's insanity and detachment from reality (i.e. how she is deluded into believing that Gray loves her and that her ignoring Gray's consent and wishes is okay) could have bled into this awful individual's life, reinforcing their idea that what they're doing is praiseworthy, that they can attack others like juvia does and still be the hero and still be rewarded in the end just as juvia is when she finally sinks her claws into Gray's manipulated heart.

These are not the lessons this sick person needs. What they need is a wake-up call, the cold hard truth, that the way they're acting is unacceptable and that they are not the hero. The fiction of gr///via and juvia's selfish and downright nasty behavior within Fairy Tail is just fortifying their belief that they're in the right.

I wouldn't go as far as to say that juvia's actions are the only reason this person is being so disgusting, but it certainly doesn't help. When you praise and promote delusion in fiction like Fairy Tail does with juvia, you can't be surprised when people adopt that delusion in real life.

My heart goes out to my friend, as well as any person out there who has to deal with this type of cyber bullying. I just hope this serves as a reminder that gr///via can definitely negatively impact others in real ways in real life, and that juvia's behavior isn't excused just because it's fantasy.

I pray the person who sent this dm gets a rude awakening that they cannot treat people this way in reality and be rewarded for it.

I really liked your post about shipping and I feel the same. I was on twitter the other day and a Jikook account posted that in 2020, dispatch wanted to reveal Jikook’s relationship. And when I asked them to give me the link to that article, they told to look for it myself. I made a little research myself because I was curious. I asked my mutual army and he told me that in 2020, dispatch posted that “two members in the same group were dating, and this group is well known”. They didn’t specify wether the group was bts or if the members were Jikook. This showed me how these shippers just change everything to fit their own narrative. Taekookers always claim that dispatch knows about Taekook but won’t reveal because the company pays for their silence. I don’t get how these people think. In JK’s recent Vlive, someone was heard talking in the background, and Taekookers claimed it was Tae, while Jikookers claimed it was Jk. It’s always a battle between these two ships. They made the fandom toxic.

I know what you're talking about, at least regarding the Dispatch couple reveal. I don't know if it was 2020, I think it might've been a little earlier, but yes, back in the day on K-pop twt we all heard about this announcement but it never came. Back then many people had theories, some believing that whoever it was, their company had most likely paid off Dispatch in hopes of keeping this relationship under wraps.

Now what I find to be a more interesting part about this 'Jikook' theory is that there was a 'leaked' Dispatch couple list screenshot, which revealed the names 전정국 & 박지민 among a list of other actual confirmed and genuine celebrity relationships. I see this screenshot all the time, whether it be on Tumblr, Twitter, TikTok, etc... This screenshot is often used as confirmation material. However, as someone who was very active on Twitter during that time, I had never seen this screenshot prior to late 2021 (and I'm a 2015 ARMY), so my only question is, where did this screenshot come from?

I think the problem with a lot of ship discourse on this platform is that people usually quote what they've heard in a shipping echo chamber. People are willing to believe this screenshot, but not one person can really cite where it actually came from. Like, have you guys been on Pinterest? BTS fans are scarily good at editing, what makes you think that they won't edit something like this too?

"It came from Dispatch!" Okay. "It came from a well-known leaker!" Do you guys... have the link to this leaker? How do you know that they're actually authentic?

With the whole Jungkook Sleeping Weverse live, I've seen people pick apart the audio like you said, and half the time it's literal white noise. I feel like some of these people are clawing at their wallpaper like "THE VOICES! THE FUCKING VOICES!". For all we know, that could be a fucking mouse or something scurrying about and you just called it Taehyung.

Jungkook's other most recent live, where he goes out of the frame and starts talking to himself -- at least that one has legitimate audio. The first translation (Getting Bam bc Jimin left) that circulated around has been proven to be horseshit by other Korean translators, but some other translations, such as Jungkook talking about his light, moving his luggage, or Jimin possibly moving the light, have a little more veracity to them. Nothing has been confirmed and not even Korean translators (Jikookers or not) can agree on any particular translation -- and they shouldn't have to! Like this is Jungkook literally mumbling to himself, like, who gives a fuck what he says under his breath?

I have always stated that I have no problem with people having their speculations or finding certain pairings cute, hell, I even have an ask post in the defense of creative shipping (which I know some might find to be a bit controversial, but to each their own, no one needs to agree with me) -- but this, this isn't evidence. Tumblr definitely has a problem with shippers more than every other platform that I've been on. It's sort of nice that a user can curate their own content, but they also can't properly filter out or avoid the crazies that infest the website. Instagram is nearly on the same level, but to be fair, it's a bunch of fourteen-year-olds who still can't differentiate a hickey from a pressure mark left by a bag or by a member's own hand. Also, a bunch of people on IG still subscribe to bullshit theories by Taekook-lives (my sworn enemy atp), and I could talk for hours about how harmful they are to both Taekook and BTS themselves. Hell, they accused Jungkook of lying on his fucking birthday, and also they constantly misrepresent and abuse the Korean culture and language for views. Definitely gross.

But yes, toxic shipping has been around forever, and we finally got to see some shippers scramble with the Paris incident. Whether or not that event was real or staged (who gives a fuck), it was scary to see how conspiracies formed over night to try to dismiss any evidence that might prove the contrary. I have a few posts and asks over Taennie as well where I sort of discuss my thoughts and feeling about shippers and fans, not really about the alleged relationship itself.

Ok, ok, ok. I am actually so sure that byler will be endgame and mileven won't. I am 83% sure right now while i had moments where i was like "yeah sadly byler will never be endgame :(" or "i think mileven will be endgame.." and i actually never felt this sure!!!

If you don't know what or who byler and mileven are (some stranger things fans don't really know the ship names of ships and couples), let me explain. Byler is the ship name of Will Byers and Mike Wheeler (By+ler=byler. Their last names) and mileven is the ship name of Mike Wheeler and Eleven Hopper (Mi+leven=mileven. Their names). Now you should know if you didn't know yet!!!

This post will be pretty long so if you absolutely HATE reading long posts skip, but if you are losing hope in byler being endgame or if you already lost all your hopes keep reading!

I recommend for you guys to read this though because i think i actually have some good reasons!!!

Mileven looks like an healthy and happy couple in the show right? They are dating, they make out, they have "cute" and "romantic" scenes in the show, Mike had an whole monologue to El saying how he loves her like 9 times blah blah blah. This is actually how most mileven shippers see mileven! and even some byler shippers see mileven as a happy and healthy couple. I have actually met a few byler shippers saying byler won't be endgame and mileven will be.

You can say "they are so toxic! Have you seen their arguments!?" about mileven but that is actually not really an good comeback in an argument with an mileven shipper because they will say "every couple has bad arguments and issues" which is true! even in the show itself some of the healthy and happy couples have bad arguments + issues. Lumax had issues and arguments (Max broke up with him like 6 times) and they are still an healthy couple (i know they're not an couple anymore for now but it was obvious they still have romantic feelings for each other and that they will be an couple again in season 5).

Jopper also had some issues and they are still an healthy and happy couple but when i say i don't think mileven will be endgame i don't mean that i think this because of their arguments like alot of byler shippers, i think this because of so many other things. Even though they seem like an "happy" and "healthy" couple in the show, it was still hinted they actually aren't and that they won't be endgame. Mileven was actually described like it is an unhealthy ship or well, not endgame at all. Netflix described them like this, the official scripts of the show described them like this, Caleb described them like this, Stranger Writers described them like this and parallels actually also described them like this.

In the official scripts it actually describes mileven as awkward twice. It doesn't only describe them as awkward, it also says Mike and El are star-crossed lovers. If you don't know what star-crossed lovers are, star-crossed lovers means it's doomed to fail amd that they cannot be together for reasons. I probably didn't explain this in an good way but you get the point (i think?). And the script of the scene where Max is singing and dancing in her room after El broke up with Mike actually also says that El was blushing at Ralph Macchio and that she liked what she saw. This isn't too weird because it is pretty normal to have very small crushes on popular people like actors, singers ect but the part where it says "Mike? Mike who?" makes it a bit weird...

That is basically just saying El is already slowly moving on. If El actually loved Mike so much she wouldn't move on so fast after an break up with him. It wasn't even an whole day after their break up.

Now let's talk about something Caleb said in an interview. Caleb was talking about lumax (Lucas and Max) and how much he loves them. Then he said he loves Lucas and Max's relationship because it is not like El and Mike's relationship. They're not in that "teenager relationship" and Lucas and Max's love is real. I'm sorry but that is literally saying Mike and El's love for each other isn't real? He said he loves Lucas and Max's relationship because it's not like Mike and El's relationship because IT'S REAL. No way mileven is endgame if even Caleb talks like that about mileven.

Let's also not forget how netflix described them as an unhealthy ship and the mileven parallels like i already mentioned. Stranger Things takes place in the 80s (1983-1988). S1 takes place in 1983, S2 takes place in 1984, S3 takes place in 1985, S4 takes place in 1986 and S5 will probably take place in 1988. So many gay men dated woman in the 80s and were very good at pretending to love the woman. Sometimes they dated a woman for years and you know why? because of homophobia. Many gay men dated woman to make people think their are straight or to "convince" themselves they are straight. Homophobia was super bad in the 80s or years before the 80s. People who were lgbtq+ actually got killed, beat up or burned alive. They also got called slurs like 24/7. It was very bad. 2022 Is still very homophobic but before it was much more homophobic.

Also please don't correct me, i kmow that gay men still date woman in 2022 because of homophobia and i know bisexual people, lesbian people, pansexual people, omnisexual people ect did this too, but since we are talking about Mike being queercoded right now and since i headcanon him as gay and not bisexual i am only talking about gay men. So my point is that Mike can still be gay while he is dating an girl! There is also an theory of Ted being super homophobic so Mike could have alot of internalized homophobia because of this but also because of the homophobia from bullies like Troy and James. I am not going to talk about every hint in this post, but just about the hints that are my favorite and in my opinion prove the most. Yes, Mike was queercoded. Doesn't matter if you think Mike is bisexual, pansexual, gay, omnisexual or straight, he stays queercoded. That will stay a fact. And how? let me explain you how.

First of all, alot of characters in stranger things have an spotify playlist. Steve has one, Billy has one, Will has one, Jonathan has one, Mike has one, Lucas has one, Nancy has one, El has one and more characters have one. These spotify playlist were made by the creators of Stranger Things (you can even see that it is official because it says "spotify" instead of some fan user) and they were made for the characters in season 2. These playlists aren't about the songs they like, they are about the songs that fit their characters because on their playlists there are actually songs from like 2016 and stranger things takes place in 1983-1988 so no way it is about the songs they like. It also isn't about the songs that they WOULD like because the playlists are made for the SEASON 2 characters in 1984. Anyway, my point is that all these songs are supposed to fit them and again, all these playlists are official, not fanmade. A few playlists are removed though, pretty sure only Mike and Will have one now or something.

On Mike's playlist that is called "Mike's Bassment Beats" has a song on his playlist called "Smalltown Boy". I listened to this song and focused on the lyrics and the song is about an man that was gay and he left his town because of all the homophobia. The song "Smalltown Boy" was also the first song added to Mike's playlist. I recommend you to listen to the song! because it is pretty good. I am going to say this one last time. This playlist isn't about the songs Mike likes, every song on this playlist is supposed to FIT MIKE'S CHARACTER. If Mike is straight this song wouldn't fit him a bit which wouldn't make any sense because every single song on this playlist is supposed to fit his character which was confirmed. What excuses are mileven shippers going to use for this one, hm? none because for this one there really are no excuses. I tried thinking of a few but there aren't any.

Also in season 4 episode 5 Mike and Will have a talk while sitting on a random car. Will says "Sometimes it's scary to open up like that, especially to the people you care about the most because what if they don't like the truth?" And it is very obvious he is also talking about hinself being gay and in love with Mike. He is giving Mike very small hints. So small that Mike won't really find out about it because that's also not what Will wants to happen. He is scared. Anyway, what i wanted to talk about is the way Mike nodded. After Will said "Sometimes it's scary to open up like that, especially to the people you care about the most because what if they don't like the truth?" MIKE LOOKED DOWN AND NODDED. What does this mean? it means Mike also has something he is hiding away from an person he cares about alot but he is very scared that person won't like the truth. Mike nodded and nodding is an way of saying "yes" but it is also an way of agreeing. He obviously agreed with Will by nodding, that is just an fact but what is he hiding?

You can say it is about mileven but the only thing he had to tell El (an thing that he was "hiding away" from El) was that he loves her but El liked the "truth" about that and Mike knows this. They are literally in an relationship and El broke down in tears infront of Mike because she wanted Mike to say "i love you" to her. Mike knew El would like the "truth" about that but he agreed with "what if they won't like the truth?". There is something he is hiding away from an person he cares alot about and he is scared they won't like the truth. The only thing i can thimk about is that it means Mike is gay and in love with Will but he is scared Will won't like that or he doesn't love El in an romantic way and he is scared El won't like that. Also keep in mind that Millie said Mike isn't loving El the way she wants to be loved.

The last thing i want to talk about is the byler build up. Many mileven shippers use "mileven has been build up since season 1, why would they break them up?" as an comeback but have you never thought about the byler build up? It has actually been confirmed that Will has been deeply in love with Mike since season 1 and maybe even before since 1. Will has been in love with Mike before El came into Mike's life. Will has been deeply in love with Mike for 4 seasons and that's not all. They made an big part of Will's storyline in season 4 about him being in love with Mike and in season 4 Will's WHOLE storyline was about him being in love with Mike while he used to be the main character (with El of course). Why would they make his storyline only about him being in love with Mike while he used to be an very important character and why would they build up Will's romantic feelings for Mike for 4 seasons long (longer than mileven) just for Will to get rejected?

That storyline would be pointless then. It would be an huge waste of time and it would be bad writing. You can say "that storyline was only made to show Will finding out he is gay" but if that was true they would have make him fall in love with an new character like Robin and Vickie instead of an very important character that has been there since season 1 (Mike) that is also his best friend since kindergarten. It was also confirmed that there won't be any new characters in season 5 meaning Will is going to stay single or byler will be endgame. I don't think it would make any sense for the whole party to get an girlfriend/boyfriend and Will stays the single one...

Obviously, there is so much more proof than this. There is so much proof of Mike being in love with Will, of Mike being bisexual/gay and having internalized homophobia, of mileven not being endgame and way more. I love your blog. I love Kikyo so much. But you wanna know something unfair? Years ago I stopped liking Kagome, I used to post fanart of Inuyasha and my Oc and kikyo too on DeviantArt. I would get little to no likes or I get inukag fans attacking me. I find that so unfair. I seen ton of fanarts of OC x Inuyasha . Either they get good amount of likes or little to no likes. But the fandom doesnt seem to have a problem with whenever someone puts Kagome with any other characters whether they're in the series or outside the series and they get lots of support. But when it comes to Inuyasha being paired with someone else thats not Kagome thats when the fandom attacks. I mentioned that before when I noticed that pattern. Lets just say....it didnt go well as I hoped 😅. No one has a problem when Kagome is paired with anybody but when it comes to Inuyasha being paired with someone thats not Kagome thats when everybody wants to lose their minds. Its seriously unfair! the sheer amount of toxic yaoi and toxic yuri appreciation in the rain code fandom. yall are so fucking real for this

the tgaa fandom's uncanny ability to bring out the most banger character analyses. just, genuinely amazing. whether it's character study fanfiction or essays written out on tumblr, i eat it up because so many are legitimately compelling. this is especially a shoutout to @hikari-kaitou's many posts about translation differences and general analysis that really changed my perspective on some characters, as well as one of my favorites- this novel length kazuma analysis. these things live rent free in my head and i always admire people who are able to articulate so many complex thoughts around stories and characters like this

i've gained some really amazing friends through both of these fandoms. just, people i genuinely enjoy talking to and that in turn makes me enjoy the source material even more

8. you hope more people will come to appreciate ___ (a ship, a trope, an episode, etc)

found family where the roles are really nebulous. don't get me wrong, if people enjoy the classic "these are the parents and these are all the siblings they adopted" that's fine and dandy enjoy your media however you want! i even enjoy it often enough and think it's cute

but. on the rare occasion i see it depicted in a way that's hard to label, it makes me so extremely excited and filled with glee. i'm sorry im gonna ramble for a moment

so for example, yakou and yuma. as much as i also enjoy the yakou fathero headcanon, i've gone insane over the one or two times i've seen them depicted closer to canon's explicit dynamic of "shitty boss and intern who are also roommates and mentor/mentee, except who is the mentor and who is the mentee changes at the drop of a hat and they BOTH fucking suck at it!!! yakou is yuma's savior, and yuma is (unintentionally) yakou's nuclear hazard level threat. the game very subtly implies that these two go out for drinks together, and yuma "millions in debt" kokohead still has to pay often enough for him to be surprised at the idea of yakou offering to do so. yuma respects yakou greatly, but of the NDA, yuma is snippiest with yakou and quickest to call the man out on his bullshit. it takes more time for him to act this way with shinigami than his own fucking boss. there are more things i could say, but they're spoilers so dont worry about it.

yakou is almost the arataka reigen to yuma's mob, but i can't even confidently make that comparison because they feel more equal than that. they feel more casual than that. i struggle to put a label to it and that's what i love about them. i would love to see more of this in general, for both fandoms i'm in, because it's fun as hell whenever i do see it

Does it annoy you when people say things like "Will didn't run away with Hannibal bc was too stupid to tell him he loved him" or "Hannibal and Will try to kill each other because they're too stupid to talk about feelings" First of all, Will knows Hannibal loves him, thats why he had that dream where Hannibal calls him beloved, and Hannibal tried to make it up to him the whole season, stressing he's his friend, he's not alone, there's the whole Achilles and Patroclus comparison, and Will and Hannibal do know the other loves them but that wouldn't stop killing attempts because they still want out from the relationship for different reasons it just annoys me when people see it from an omnipotent sense of view and call the characters stupid.

i do generally see these takes are being jokes. i sincerely hope they are, and i do hope that people realize that will had a great many reasons for not leaving with hannibal and none of them were because he is stupid. will is extremely intelligent, and him him being torn between what he believes is morally correct and what he actually wants is kind of key to his character? that's why twotl hits so hard bc u finally see him Become. mizumono is only so important bc will DIDN'T leave with him. mizumono makes their relationship so much more than it was before. and, you know, maybe he wasn't going to leave with him but he was going to use himself as a distraction so hannibal could get away. that's why he told him he was supposed to leave. he didn't want hannibal to be caught. yes, it was a half-measure, but i think will trying to convince himself that hannibal is only playing with him, that he doesn't really miss him, getting furious that bedelia is in florence with hannibal instead of him.... just proves that will was fully aware of what he felt for hannibal, and that, at the time of mizumono, he was fully convinced hannibal felt the same way. he even tells jack in aperitivo, "i wanted him to run because he was my friend, and because i wanted to run away with him." so its just factually untrue that he didn't know. also -- they can't just sit down and talk about their feelings because um well they're murderers in a toxic, love-hate relationship... not exactly conducive to calm, clear communication..... but again, i do generally see these posts as jokes that are geared more towards the shipping aspect of fandom rather than the narrative so i don't put too much stock in them

I agree with you on that nasty anon being, most likely, a toxic Aemond stan posing as team black but I think it needs to be said that there are some nasty black stans out there who hate Aemond with a passion and who, by extension, also take it out on Helaemond and Helaena specifically, calling her names, bland and how she and the ship are only a self-insert for us plus countless other stupid arguments. I've also seen on some of their blogs the same Daeron discourse anon was spewing as well as the GRRM being involved with S2 writing thing as proof that Aemond will finally be portrayed as his book counterpart which further means that Helaemond will never be a thing. Maybe, maybe not, in any case most helaemonds know the ship in just a show only thing that may very well not happen if the writers choose so. Either way I hope that person, whoever they are, gets a life and stops harassing other people online. I also hope you're okay considering the amount of hate you've been constantly getting on this blog, please don't let the haters succeed into bullying you off this platform.

oh yeah, aemond and helaena definitely also get hate from team black stans, that much i know, and especially since i spend a bit of time on twitter too

however most of the hate i've seen from team black stans when it comes to helaena and aemond is aimed separately, rather than necessarily at helaemond itself. for example, some say helaena is bland, boring and definitely did not deserve to get dreamfyre and then not use her. there's a lot of grief about her claiming rhaena's dragon. aemond is usually insulted and interpreted as some "cheap version of daemon" and how he's actually just a loser, etc.

but this hate is usually character centric from what i saw and there's plenty of team black stans who don't care that much about aemond or helaena, but they don't hate them either, and by virtue of being team black, they're also more relaxed about the incest side of the targaryens, so there's many who actually did pick up on all the helaemond hints and wouldn't mind it

however i don't doubt that there's probably black stans who hate helaemond as a ship as well

my conclusion of this being a green aemond stan is specifically based on me having knowledge of how i post my posts and tag my posts, who follows me, etc. and certainly most helaemond vitrol actually comes from fellow greenies. and, sadly, for some time now, i've noticed some lowkey helaena hate too. i say lowkey because well, as a team black stan, not caring / disliking helaena wouldn't be a huge shock, but a greenie? disliking helaena of all characters? mostly if not surely over ships? that would be hard to justify

I forgot what they said but it was enough to piss me off. Look, I deal with enough idiots within the fandom, I don't need your dumb ass.

It just surprises me people think BNHA is the first and only fandom to act chaotic. Acting like ship wars is something the BNHA fandom made up.

Ooooh, not long after that incident, I witness a ship war in the Stranger Things fandom through the blogs I follow. I never been so quick to dip out and write that day.

People don't find it strange that gay shippers often get blamed? It doesn't click that it's easy for gay shippers to get blamed? Do you really think that people who draw and write their ships are gonna say something outrageous just so they get people mad at them? No one thinks it's the homophobic asshole wanting to cause a problem because they don't like gay ships so they're blaming the shippers? Or the misogynist jerk who believes women should have a certain role in society so they bash the female characters who seem "not like a woman" to them? Or how about the racist who tends to talk over fans of color because they don't want those fans to be heard because HELLO THEY'RE RACIST?!

I also think cultural differences play a part in the stupidity of how people act in fandoms.

I need certain fucking people to understand that something that may seem strange to you may be something normal somewhere else. That doesn't mean you, the damn outsider, speak over and bash the person who knows more about their own culture than you do.

There is a language barrier there, so instead of this whole entitled "I'm right because I don't understand you" attitude, I need people to actually get out that stupid bubble and try to understand. Not just for Horikoshi, but for anybody.

Example, the Christmas episode. The part where Eri was confused about the holidays and she pulled out the beans and say "in sickness and in health", I was confused. Of course, I was. I'm not native to Japan nor am I an expert on Japanese culture. But instead of "That's even a real holiday, blah blah", I read up on it and found out something I didn't know.

So simple, so easy! I rather at least be aware next time than to be like "that's not something I know so therefore it's not important and it's stupid".

Overall, I hope you folks can hear me sighing loudly, people need to stop relying on hearsay. In fact, just stop altogether because a lot of people in fandoms really be doing too much for me.

I've been a fan of BL for 10+ years and it just crazy how again and again people can't watch a show with great chemistry and see it as what it is, fiction. I'm the first to blame companies and Thai industry as a whole for using fanservice as a bait and blur the lines for fans. But KP is a totally different topic, because they've been pretty professional so far. It seems like some fans have been waiting for the smallest detail to say: " see! It was too much chemistry for it not be real. Those sex scenes wouldn't be possible otherwise".

I wish fans would understand how insulting that sounds to actors. It's their job to make you feel what their characters are feeling, to make you believe that that fictional person is really in love/a pshyco/depressed... so you saying that the only way they could emote those emotions is if they're actually feeling them is saying they can't act/must not be good at it. Also, it says a lot about the level of acting in BL that once we get really good actors that aren't cringe worthy, we think they must be really in love lmao.

Aaaaaaaaand don't get me started on how some fans can't imagine male friendships and any type of closeness between them is seen as a sign of attraction. I would never forget how a fan wrote a whole essay on how Krist and Singto were into each other because Singto gave Krist a bottle of water in the middle of a press conference and apparently he did so looking at him with lust. How? Idk...but lots of other fans were saying OP was right and it was "So ObViOuS" unironically. Anyone that knows those actors know how crazy that is hahaha

I know we have so many young fans in the Fandom and some of those reactions probably come from them being naive but c'mon...it ends up being toxic. In some instances -not yet with KP- it's made me understand why some actors don't want to stay in the genre or even distance themselves publicly from other actors just so fans won't make things up.

I’m a different anon from the previous but seeing that recent ask caught my attention, and made me also want to say how much I’ve been digging your Landström content. The dynamic is perfect, even if they don’t interact much in actual canon you make it work in such an interesting, believable, way. The drama!! The toxicity!!! Shrimps!!Fascinating - in that perfect car wreck you can’t look away from sort of way. How they’re both objectively terrible people, but still complex individuals - it just makes me morbidly curious as to what either of them are thinking in any given situation. I’d be really curious about any little thoughts/headcanons you have on them that you’ve yet to cover, if you’ve got any you want to share, no pressure if you’re not feeling it, I just tend to get very invested in niche things sometimes and I thought I’d ask lol

I've never really had a ship like Landstrom before - with this level of toxicity on both an individual level and as a pairing, but I think the context surrounding them, both the historical and the canon story (Landa's betrayal of the Reich, Hellstrom's death) are the ingredients that make it so compelling for me to want to explore. I adore the premise of yes they're terrible but how does that equate into how they'd be for each other, and does it even matter? I don't want to fix them. They do not want to be fixed, lmfao. I have a lot of other ships in pairings where it's cathartic for me to allow the characters to heal, and to grow, and this is the opposite. I want bad things to happen to them and I want to explore the journey that takes them there.

Anyway! Headcanons/Thoughts I've yet to cover! Oh, man, you've said the magic words! 😈😈😈 This is very "pull the curtain back" because I do like to surprise the small smattering of Landstrom fans by just dropping my pieces and going back into hiding for months to work on more WIPs/other fandoms, but I'll bite on this… although I don't want to give too much away, either.

So in terms of my canon timeline/fics for them, I currently have six different WIPs started (and by started I mean i have a reasonable amount written - altogether with these WIPs I would low-estimate I have around 30k written), and most of them delve into 2 major themes, which is 1. Hellstrom's dynamic with his family (especially his sister, which "Tease Rough" foreshadows), and 2. Landa's slow progression to "feelings realization" (which is to say, the possessiveness I mentioned in the previous anon).

The fic I'm closest to finishing at the moment is a direct sequel to "Tease Rough" and features an important OC that I've mentioned, Felix von Kleist and his dynamic with Hellstrom (and Landa's observations on it lol)… this all sort of interweaves with my hc's for Hellstrom's past + his trauma, etc. which all factor into his relationship with his family. Felix will show up in some of these other WIPs as well.

Not to pat myself on the back too much but I'm really proud of the backstory I've come up with for Hellstrom, and the character I've created in his sister, Johanna, and their relationship. I think there's a lot of like, you can begin to see why he acts the way he does and maybe he wouldn't have ended up any other way… which, yeah, sucks, but also like… he just continually and purposefully decides to deal with everything in the worst way possible (i.e. he's in a relationship with Hans Landa) so like do I really feel bad for him?? Really?? (Nope nope nope.)

Landa definitely uses and exploits Hellstrom's disdain for his family and insecurities around them for his own gain (because why wouldn't he?)… even after death. My post-canon ghost-AU circles heavily around Hellstrom wanting "closure" (I say that in quotes bc it's his form of closure and trust me it's shitty lmfao) in re: to his relationship with his sister and Landa being all "but what if you didn't have it :) :) :)" because he wants ghost Hellstrom for himself. :')

I hope this answers you, anon, and if it didn't feel free to ask for clarification! I'm going to try my damnedest to have the "Tease Rough" sequel (tentatively titled "Closed Doors") out before the end of the year but I'm taking part in some zines and exchanges for other fandoms right now so I have to put it on the backburner. this fandom makes me feel so freaking guilty about being a Billy stan and shipping mungrove. I can literally make an entire book about all the tiktoks and posts I've seen about people bashing Billy stans because billy is racist and what not. (I am black myself) and honestly, I don't see anything wrong with billy yet people make me feel so guilty for liking his character. Don't even get me started on mungrove I really like the ship but people have called me disgusting for shipping it because billy wouldn't like eddie. i dont even know what to say anymore

I hope you also made a post when JK solos were dragging Jimin to filth using animal names, SA and r*pe insults during FACE era (they are still at it btw). I won’t hold my breath on that happening since a lot of armys have collective amnesia when other solos drag Jimin but only wake up when it is their Tae and JK pookie bears getting dragged by Jimin solos. And then it is save vminkook from solos. And please don’t give examples of them defending Jimin against other fandoms.

Let’s treat all solos equally and not when armys feel like calling out when their fandom fav is getting dragged.

Well, I did make a post about when tae solos and jimin solos were both going after one another and even addressed a few vmin-centric asks that followed my initial comments on the entire situation + accusations against their friendship. I didn't even mention Jungkook during these instances.

What I will say is that I don't always see every single smear campaign nor hateful trend given how my Twitter algorithm works. I have a friend who will come into my Twitter DMs and ask "did you see [insert this]" or "have you heard [insert this]" and my answer is usually no. I have 100+ words muted on Twitter, so I do a good job of shoveling most of this hateful shit off of my timeline. I don't particularly think that it's good for my mental health, but if I do see it and it drives me to anger, I might talk about it.

Also, I will accept the apology, but I do think it's best to do a little digging through someone's account before making a heated ask. Trust me, I probably have done the same thing, so it's fine, I get it. I have defended Jimin several times on this platform, even if it wasn't necessarily about solos, but just his haters in general. I am quick to shoot down the p*do accusations, as well as the countless claims that he makes the other members uncomfortable.

I love Jimin with all of my heart (he's my bias wrecker), but I don't always make a post about every new hate comment made towards him, or else I'd be here all day. This is my first time talking about antis lashing out against Jungkook, too. There is just so much junk online, I'd rather make silly little posts that don't really mean much in a massive sea of information.

Usually, I stick to inner-fandom drama because I disregard the opinions of outside voices who'd rather make a fuss over nothing. Who gives a fuck about what a toxic BLINK says? Who cares about what a salty EXO-L wrote? We know they're just doing it to be hateful and that there isn't any true validity to any of their statements. Of course, if the hate train is significant enough, I might weigh in, I am a 2015 ARMY who has been on the other end of online negativity and how it has affected not only the fanbase but the boys themselves. Fan wars are not something I particularly enjoy engaging in, but if you scroll through my asks, you can see I'm more comfortable voicing my opinions on matters that occur within BTS' fanbase, especially about the ugly side of shipping.

About Saiyans meaning a lot to me-- yeah. I wish I could remember the interview it was revealed in, but he was asked about it at some point to where he said something to the effect of "I didn't know how to design them/couldn't figure out their appearance", something like that. It stuck with me because like I've mentioned in my Toriyama post, many toxic (as in sexist/misogynistic fanboys and overall creepy ass people) tried to make DB a thing I wasn't allowed to participate in, all because I was born a girl which was and is-- bullshit. Women aren't a different fuckin' species, man. We like the same shit as men sometimes and that's alright. Trying to put me into a girly girl box is what made me into a rebellious ass tomboy (much like Videl who I somewhat related to, growing up). Only in my late teens/early adult years did I embrace my femininity (yes, I was vain and shallow like Bulma at times. I was also a bit too loose with money when I had some, so I understand her casual attitude regarding her wealth, but that's neither here or there). Point is there was and always have been room for female fans of the series, so when I heard that from the horse's mouth himself? Yeah, it was a wrap. That was it. Nobody could tell me SHIT. That's one thing about me: If I learn something is true and it makes my life easier, I will not listen to anything else. I'll do my own thing. I'm a bit stubborn like that but trust me, it's a good stubborn. Otherwise, I'm very open-minded about many things and I'm a good listener.

As I stated on more than one occasion, I started RPing in a chatroom of an anime-pirating website, while I watched DBZ Kai. After I finished the anime (and lost my original RP group of friends), I coped by scouring the Internet for more RP forums and platforms, of which eventually led me to Facebook. I ran into some mishaps here and there in the DBZ RP space but that aside, the highs were worth it and I stayed for a long while. I mostly specialized in Android/Cyborg OCs and Saiyan OCs. So yes, you are right by saying Maiz (as in RPC!Maiz's template) comes from my 2018 fanfiction but also predates it by SEVERAL YEARS because every female Saiyan I had from the age of 12 and up was essentially a prototype of who Maiz would become. Long story short, Maiz grew with me, even when her names before were: Rayearth (my og username on the chatroom/anime website), Beats, Serori, Celeri, and later Jinjā. Rayearth was able to go Super Saiyan and she was the angry-punchy type. She was closer to Vegeta in temperament and haughty as all hell. Beats was a bit more humble with a hint of cockiness. This was around the time I started playing around with morality and all that, so she was less of a Vegeta type but still rough around the edges. I think I implied she could go Super Saiyan but can't remember if it happened in any threads. Serori was much more humble and quiet-- introspective. However, she could be hostile if approached too quickly or suddenly. She was the first low-class Saiyan I ever made. Celeri was a jump off of that because someone had the same name as my OC so I changed her around*. She was extroverted, but not too much. I guess you could call her a quasi-Goku type, if Goku was Mid-Class and a woman. I changed the rank because I wanted to explore the classism aspect of the Saiyans and my OC's relationship between her and her inherent power. She was morally gray, if I remember correctly.

*A bit petty of me, I'm sure-- but I was immature and a moody teenager who only had her creativity to express herself with. Anything too similar to me back then felt like an attack on my personhood and individuality. Thankfully, I'm a mature adult who's grown past that trauma response from childhood.

Jinjā came in 2015. I was 16 going on 17, about to enter college. Stopped RPing some time before this, because well, I had to focus on school and life stuff. This is what she originally looked like:

She has no story, because she wasn't made with one in mind. I just missed having a female Saiyan to think/write about. She was truly random, a burst of inspiration that heavily looms over Maiz's current design. Jinjā has red, short, choppy hair because Seripa/Fasha was her base design. I wanted something different to make her stand out, or else she'd just look like a clone or twin. That's all. Fasha being the base is also where the earrings comes from, since she had them. (This was just before I started embracing cosmetics and accessories). While she didn't really have anything to her, the basic idea was to go back to my roots: a rough-and-tumble Saiyaness who can pack a mean punch and rock your shit even if it kills her-- even if she fails. Hence my attempt at blood and making her look badass/intimidating. Muscles and female anatomy was hard for me, still is slightly-- but I'm getting the hang of it. Anyhoo, I believe my intentions-- if I fleshed her out more-- would've been for her to be a Bardock-type. Fun fact: Battle of Gods came out a month before this redesign did, so I got some confused looks when asked if this was SSG (Red) and I said no. I wasn't a huge fan of the movie so I didn't really see it until later. Only clips and such on YouTube. I warmed up to it eventually.

While going back to college for the second time (2018-2019), I got into Super properly with the introduction of Broly in DB Super: Broly. I enjoyed the Future Trunks/Goku Black Saga but the narrative nightmare within the anime's climax (and the manga's middle part) was a tough pill for me to swallow. The movie though-- despite the minor grievances I have with it-- hit all the right spots: Saiyan lore! Saiyan culture! POLITICS!!! Space-Opera! Sci-fi!!!!!! Around this time, I was finally inspired to do something else for this fandom I've had a tumultuous relationship with-- write a fan fiction. Jinjā's redesign was imminent:

She got renamed in reference to her mom, who was now Seripa/Fasha's older sister as a nod to the latter being a design base. Karne comes the Japanese spelling of karnels (kaneru, if I have that correct) because she's frustratingly slow to anger like popcorn-- the pun she's based off of. (Fasha in other media, such as the games has always been described as the opposite: short tempered, fierce and feisty. She's staunchly loyal to her crew too, as implied in the movie and in those same games if you pay attention to her dialogue). With this, it only made sense to have the updated version of Jinjā follow the pun as:

To summarize: Maiz became Maiz in 2019, in the wake of DB Super: Broly. (It came out that year in the U.S). In the fanfic she originates from, she is the last female Saiyan, and that weighs on her all the time. Incidentally, Story!Maiz is much more sympathetic while remaining a frosty a--hole. Her trauma is much more apparent and while she's not exactly the nicest person in the Galaxy, it's much more clear to see why: she has attachment issues, which makes getting to know her difficult, she has trust issues, anger issues from surviving a bloody and rather violent/sudden genocide of her people at a young and tender age, she can't remember the last time she slept well, has frequent nightmares of being abandoned by her mother (she was the one who shoved her into an escape pod). She thinks there's no value to her life because she's been traveling through outer space with Turles for six years consecutively and there were several planets/galactic sectors who didn't even know what a Saiyan was. They were lucky to find remains. (Cut tails, boots, bones, dust/ashes, name tags, etc etc. The sights were very, very grisly. And she kept seeing the same things for six. Years. Straight). All of this turned her into a very bitter, negative person who became a straw nihilist. She kind of just wanted to pass away quietly in some corner somewhere, not because she felt remorse for being a Saiyan/the effects of her kin but because she had her entire life upended on a sadistic whim. There was nothing to live for in her eyes. She thought Turles was stupid for having hope after a while and became jaded. While she was stronger than Turles in terms of raw power, she had a issue with not wanting to preserve her ki for important situations. He constantly had to watch over her like a big brother and she absolutely resented him for it (misguided anger, anyone?). It didn't help that he remembered more of Saiyan life than she could. All in all, she was tragic and a bit too edgy probably, but she would grow out of her frosty shell with the introduction of Broly. She reluctantly bonded with him over time on their ship as Saiyan Squad (what I called them out of text) made their way to Earth to settle the score with Vegeta. Paragus didn't do anything for her but make her angry at first-- all this time she's convinced herself there were no more Saiyans and then she sees this old man still kicking somehow? Of course she'd be livid. (Paragus, over his short presence in her life until his death at Vegeta's hands proved to be effective; he became a makeshift father figure and imparted some words of wisdom of which she'd take to heart, post Broly fight. Turles was pretty devastated too and they would finally be the brother-sister duo he's always known they could have been. It's bittersweet and sad, tbh).

Anyway, that's the evolution process. As for why she looks like this in universe-- I'm gonna be honest and say I got it from Father of Goku. There were different looking Saiyans in there, two women have blue hair. Super Saiyan has green eyes and blonde hair. Who's to say there aren't natural green eyed Saiyans who existed? Or blondes? Dark hair can mean black and/or brown, so why not both? Same with dark eyes! Make them brown, hazel, chestnut, almost black or straight up black. Etc etc. (As a reminder, Fasha has purple eyes! PURPLE). If you look at official artworks/some colored manga covers and whatnot, Goku's actually tan. Hell, Future Trunks is basically apricot or a peachy skin tone. If you want a triple whammy??? Read the manga. No, seriously. There are OFFICIAL scans that has Trunks with red hair instead of the Super Saiyan blonde. And those are mistakes from Toriyama himself. Look at Z Broly and all his in between stages-- blue hair, greenish-yellow hair, etc. It's really not that hard to create a unique looking Saiyan, or justify it-- so I feel like the whole dark hair and dark eyes should be overlooked/not a big deal. I also just don't like how restrictive it is from a narrative/in universe standpoint. It's not fun to play with.

you know pros are seething about graylu when they're 'best' arguements against it is that it would be 'boring'. The insecurity runs deeps because they know deep down lucy could've worked just as well with gray. Graylu intimidates them so much to the point where they NEED to prove that they mean nothing to each other and that gray is 'much closer' to other people. They've also stated that shipping the two together would be 'incest'.

Bad Arguments Against GraLu

Yeaaah, "boring" is a really bad argument when the counter argument is that gr///via is toxic. Do they really want to answer the question "would you rather have a vanilla romance, or would you rather have a toxic one?" with "I'd take toxic, unhealthy, and destructive any day of the week"??

I'm also wondering exactly what part about Gray's and Lucy's relationship or potential romance is particularly boring. Is it just because they're friends? Can friends-to-lovers never be interesting? Would we rather have abuser-and-victim-to-lovers with juvia? Apparently some people say yes.

I think the most interesting relationships are when both sides are falling for each other over a period of time. This is of course subjective, but I personally hate romances where one side is already madly in love, because then from a story-telling perspective, only one person has to do any work (i.e. has to go through the emotional changes in order to accommodate the other), and it's really boring to me because it's basically half the action that could be happening (It's pretty hard to articulate this, so I hope it makes sense to y'all).

Plus, I personally don't find GraLu to be boring because of their immense chemistry with each other, and not just romantic chemistry! They're such close friends, and they're always 100% real with each other, which is absolute hilarious to watch.

Of course, how much a ship entertains someone is up to the individual since it can be pretty subjective. However, that just further proves that the boring argument is bad because maybe it's boring to them, but what about the rest of the sizeable GraLu fandom?

I concur that the ones who keep blasting GraLu are probably insecure, and I really like how you mentioned that they actually do know that Lucy would've worked well with Gray because I completely agree. As I've said in other posts, if the gr///vians were secure and confident in their ship, then they wouldn't care about other ships even if they clashed with theirs. However, Gray and Lucy have such fabulous chemistry that in order to make their gr///via ship seem valid and "the best", they have to tear down GraLu just so they can feel assured in their pairing.

It's pretty sad to see.

They're definitely way too intimidated by GraLu, but you know what, they're rightfully intimidated by it because it just is that awesome of a ship, and it's so much better than gr///via (I think it's safe to say GraLu is just objectively better than gr///via even if you only look at the healthiness of the ship for both parties).

And, my word, Pros, ok, the "inc*st" comments really need to stop.

At this point, they're just using revolting language to describe GraLu so that other people will have the same reaction to it. It's such a low blow and an underhanded tactic to make people associate GraLu with inc*st. Gray and Lucy are actually not related, and the discussion of "inc*st" should die as soon as it’s faced with that fact.

Just because people "act like siblings" (and who are they to decide just how siblings act? Siblings act differently for every family) doesn't mean they're related, and therefore that doesn’t mean that they can't have chemistry and date. Sure, some siblings act like best friends with each other, but if two people aren't related and act like that, then why can't they just be viewed as best friends? I believe Gray and Lucy act like best friends, and that's one of the biggest contributing factors to why I like to ship them; their relationship is so fun and honest.

I guess it's subjective as to whether people view two people as being more sibling-like or more best friend material, since for me, I view Gray and Erza being more sibling-like because of how much Erza beats Gray up and scares him (and I don't like the power imbalance that there would be if Grayza was a thing, since I believe romantic relationships should be on equal footing, while siblings don't necessarily have to be that way thanks to age hierarchy and how they grow up already having to look up to the oldest), but I'd never say that Grayza would be "inc*st" just because of my personal opinions on how they act. That would just be plain wrong and would be trying to demonize the Grayza shippers unjustly.
