Mine headcanons to them:

Dieter is a proud misogynist. Like he HATES women guts. Chile he would be happy if us just disappear from Earth forever lol. Especially if womens next to Landa. But he never admit this.

Dieter is the one who has a big trouble inside him-internalised homophobia torture him and Hans always playing on this painful topic for him

Dieter is homophobic gay, Hans is chill bisexual

Hans somewhere can admit he cares about Dieter, Hellstrom? Hell, never !!!!!

But at the same time Dieter is very Vulnerable when he not trying to act tought

Landa always gives him a pet names and Dieter acts like he hates this(he lives for this low-key….)

Hans will always humiliate and mock Dieter about everything related to him, including his work, but he will do everything in his power to ensure that Dieter gets a promotion.

They both an assholes who breaks ups(if we call what they have a relationship) 2836271910101 times but always come back to each other’s bc they already dependent on each other and emotions that only they can give each other

Heehee! I see I must've influenced your headcanons a great deal (or we just think very much alike)! This is just me answering certain points in your list hear and rambling about my thoughts, hope that's okay! Dieter hates women so much. Naziism in general is so deeply misogynistic but he has even more piled on top of that in my hc's for him, due to his relationship with his mom and his perception of his parents' (mom and biological dad, then his mom and stepdad) relationship. He acts like he views his sister through a different lens but it's still very steeped in "I, your older brother (a man) know what's best for you." I feel like Hans admitting he cares is very much more like... well, it's more like, he knows exactly what will keep Dieter tied to him and i don't think it's inherently false, his need/want, but there's definitely the idea that he will get what he wants out of saying he "cares". Dieter's way of admitting it is being possessive and jealous, lol. I do actually have a "break-up" planned for them (as much as that's possible)! And it's like honestly the way I've written them they don't even consider themselves "together" for the first uh 6+ years so much as just conveniently hooking up. And this changes with the fic Der klaren Sterne (the one that centers around Hans visiting Dieter and his family over the holidays). I write Hans as, even from the beginning, being endlessly intrigued by what this arrangement with Dieter can offer him. Dieter on the other hand has no choice lol (well i guess to some extent he does but) but considering the trauma I've put him through, he'll deal with Hans (and especially all the sex they have) any day compared to what he's experienced with other men. I have so much good dialogue written with them that I haven't posted yet, that's like... they're terrible at communicating with each other but as the reader it expresses so much (and I think Hans at least is very capable at reading through the lines). You're right that Dieter becomes most vulnerable when he tries to be tough. Hans sees it... and loves it... but there does come a point too where he is also concerned and somewhat like... he really sees how deeply set in his ways Dieter is. For as much as Hans can manipulate him, certain things he can't change and it's like oh. 😬 The only ones I would say I differ on is Hans being "chill" re: sexuality because I do write him as EXTREMELY homophobic in the sense that he's like "omg Dieter why would you WANT to be gay, just fuck women hello they're so 🤤🤤🤤!" like he has no respect for people being mono-sexual, be it gay, lesbian or straight (i write him like this towards Francesca as well in the fics she appears in, since I hc as a lesbian. Like in the Retail AU he's just like all "uh she's too pretty to be gay and she just hasn't tried me yet 🙄") and it's like he's not even bisexual so much as opportunistic. lmao i hate him.

For me it started as a joke like "haha what if?" that turned into "here is their insane twisted story that takes place over ten years," and here I am two years later still obsessed with them like I haven't been obsessed with a ship in a LONG TIME. Reason number 1: i love Landa.

Reason number 2: i love Hellstrom.

At first when I watched IB I thought demn these 2 men are hot af I wish they could have more time tgt. They have so many things in common (right??) they’re equally sexy evil and brilliant and I wonder how NOICE it would be if these two have more interactions (all heil to mr waltz and mr diehl’s spectacular performances). And then I started digging ao3 and livejournal and tumblr with Very Little Hope that someone would ship them (u are right they’re a rare pair). So after going through several delicious terrific fanfics, I was like HOLY HELL THIS IS REAL THE CHEMISTRY IS SOME REAL SHYT THIS IS TOTALLY GONNA HAPPEN. Also I was fascinated (ofc not irl lol) by the core of their relationship and the complexity of the characters which is not showed in the canon (plenty of place for imagination alert >:))

Okay so inconclusion I love them a little bit too much for my own good haha. There will be more Landstrom/IB (and other movies with mr waltz/mr diehl) content on the way (weehee) bcuz im still very much not over them :)

5. What work of yours got more feedback than expected? I guess my fic about Terry, “Case Closed”? Since it focuses on my headcanon of him being aroace and thereby sinking any hope of shipping him with Alice in it, I didn’t there’d be much interest (since he is so pined after by the fanbase). But I’m glad people liked it and liked my interpretation of him.

6. Favorite title you used. Is it cheating to say “Truth or Dairy”, which I haven’t posted yet? Because fuck that’s funny (cuz Ashley is a milkman in this AU so GET IT haha). Shout out to “Fate Like a Promise, Fate Like a Cage” though, which @lemon-teacake coined, not I. But that led to our beloved fic being named “LIAM FLAPFLAC”, after its working title was “Love is a Murderer” + what the title then became.

10. What work was the quickest to write? I mean I wrote my Vanlock fic, which is 19k over the course of September. Exactly a month. Which is fast for me. Like it just came pouring out of me, completely unexpected. Once I started, I couldn’t stop. 11. What work took you the longest to write? “Crossfire” as it was a combination of writing characters I hadn’t before (or, hadn’t written as main characters before) in Bridget/Archie, plus being insanely distracted by wanting to binge-play Rune Factory x’D

12. How man WIP’s do you have in you docs for next year? LMAO I mean, I have several zine pieces alone, but outside of those, I definitely want to finish a few TGAA WIPs. Mainly my Nikolina gen, my GenBaro fic, and some sequels to “Truth or Dairy”. I’m sure I’ll try mixing some Basterds and RF in there as well.

16. What’s your most common “Additional Tags” tag? I think??? (thus far) it’s Established Relationship since both my Reinhard/Alice fics and both my Landstrom fics use that tag. 17. Your favorite character to write this year?

I really liked writing Barok – this was my first time doing so, and I didn’t have trouble with it at all, to be honest. I feel his voice fits my style. 18. The character that gave you the most trouble writing this year? Writing Bridget in “Crossfire” was a bit difficult. It was set in Canon Divergent AU so I had to factor the situation at hand into how she would interact with Archie, plus I had to sort out a lot of my headcanons for her, too. But I’m happy with how the fic ended up.

29. Favorite line/passage you wrote this year? The first chapter of “Blank Slate” I feel is really strong on both my end and lemon’s end. And I mean out of ALL the Landstrom stuff I’ve written, this is some of The Best, and I like this part because I love to make them miserable. (or maybe I’m just partial to angsty tragic ghost AUs teehee) “Hans, you need to get out of here; stop von Hammersmark and the Basterds!” Hellstrom spits, as if Hans doesn't already know this. “Stop wasting your fucking time digging through my uniform. This is to save the Führer, to protect the Reich! Who cares about me?!” With nothing and no one else to hear him, Hans has no shame in replying, “I do.” The words have barely left Hans's lips before they're lost, pressed back by Hellstrom's mouth on his. A wicked chill enters him, fills him from head to toe and sharp enough to bring tears to his eyes. And then he's being moved, bodily, something having taken hold of his uniform by the lapels and forcing him to his feet. Not something. Someone. It's so rare that Hellstrom doesn't argue with or dismiss anything Hans has to say in regards to what they have—had—that Hans knows its his way of accepting this simple, but loaded, admission. “Then get out of here.” There's no longer venom in his tone; it's almost a plea, and there's no one else Hellstrom would voluntarily exhibit such vulnerability around. “Don't let all my efforts go to waste, if you care so fucking much.” On the word care, his voice breaks a little. Something in Hans's chest breaks a lot.

So groß so blau so viel Dreck Vor zwei Wochen war Blueport und CruiseDays in in Hamburg. Ein tolles event, schöne Schiffe und viele Menschen trieben mit den Schiffen durch den Hafen.
 Aber ich will noch mal Salz in die Wunde schütten.
Ich kann und will nicht verstehen, warum @spdhamburg und @gruene_hamburg die Reedereien nicht zwingen können zumindest Landstrom zu nehmen und noch mehr druck aufbauen endlich mal sauberere Antriebe zu nuten. Die machen Umsätze ohne Ende mit uns und ja auch Hamburg profitiert davon. Aber sie machen auch ne Menge Dreck und CO2!
Hier ein paar Fakten. Denn die Schiffe werden mit Schweröl betrieben, dem Dreckigsten, was an Treibstoff auf dem Markt zu kaufen gibt.
Eine Woche Kreuzfahren produzieren 1500 Kilogramm Kohlendioxid pro Passagier. Das ist wie 9000km Autofahren. Das geht besser und @spdhamburg und @gruene_hamburg ihr könnt dazu zumindest im Hafen Hamburg die Regeln setzten! So big so blue so much dirt Two weeks ago Blueport and CruiseDays were in Hamburg. A great event, beautiful ships and many people travelled with the ships through the harbour.
 But I want to pour salt into the wound again.
I cannot and do not want to understand why @spdhamburg and @gruene_hamburg cannot force the shipping companies to take at least land electricity and build up even more pressure to finally use cleaner engines. They make sales over and over and grow every Year and even Hamburg is profiting from it. But they also make a lot of dirt and CO2!
 Here are a few facts. Because the ships are operated with heavy oil, the dirtiest fuel on the market to buy.
 One week of cruising produces 1500 kilograms of carbon dioxide per passenger. Its like driving 9000KM by car! What I love about your fics-most of them kind of related💔Like I just read Fortsetzung Folgt and seems like the story starts right after Dieter arrive at France(and they were on 1 year break at the moment?). Maybe I’m wrong. Also is Dieter gay or he just drawn to Hans? Bc I read many fanfics where a person doesn’t label himself like gay but had attraction toward one person). Also: Fortsetzung Folgt personally my favourite fanfic of you, esp with how petty for no reason Dieter is in this lol

Aw anon you are too kind, I'm glad you love FF as much as you do! I do love it a lot, myself, since I feel Landa's feelings come through to an extent, more so than in other fics, which makes sense given the point they're at in their relationship. It's something I wrote early on in my Landstrom ventures and I feel I might change a few things but all in all I do enjoy it.

And yeah so like the timeline is a bit nebulous but their reunion in France is after the "break-up" I've mentioned in previous asks (that is really more just like, Dieter is so upset about his parents' deaths and takes it out on Hans, and that leads to him being like "I don't want this anymore >:(") So when they reunite, he's definitely acting a bit different because /that's/ all happened and it's difficult to pretend it didn't. But at the same time, I think the time apart has made Dieter a bit more accepting to Hans understanding him (opposed to, I think this is something he's aware of for a while, that Hans has many facets of him figured out, and it bothers him, vs. in FF I think he's slightly more just like, okay it's not the worst thing… maybe…)

I feel the movie doesn't really state how much time they're in France though I assume it's probably around 3 weeks to a month, and FF is set at the tail end of that.

As for labels, well, in Tease Rough, Hans pretty much makes Dieter (threatens him) come right out and admit that he's gay, although the word isn't used. I do hc Dieter as 100% (more like 1000%) gay - that the idea of being with a woman repulses him, and his extreme misogyny and internalized homophobia are strongly linked (and like, i know the "misogynistic gay" is a trope not everyone likes but man is a Nazi with a capital N, i feel it's hard to get around that). In how I write Dieter, he's never really questioned it, either - he's always been attracted to guys, its just been a matter of realizing what exactly it is and what it means, etc. I think he wants to hold out hope that he will at least overcome being attracted to men (isn't too keen on the idea of being attracted to women, still, lol), but the events that occur in my longfic idea (Der klaren Sterne) force him to face the reality that this is not going to change, and… well, a lot happens. But yeah like he's a huge, as the Nazis would say, degenerate homophile. :p

And yes, he is so petty, especially where Fredrick is concerned. I just feel they would clash so so much given their personalities, and Dieter wasting his time being so concerned with Fredrick is amusing - although I also think he's a bit jealous. He's given basically half his life to this cause whereas baby boi Fredrick just happens to be in the "right place at the right time" if you want to call it that. (Plus yknow the whole angle of him seeing Fredrick, who is Very Straight, as not masculine or 'tough'. Hans is just like /watches, eats popcorn... occasionally meddles :)/.)

(And if I'm being honest, them having animosity towards each other, or Dieter hating Fredrick, at least, is made extra entertaining to me by the fact that Daniel and August are bff irl.)

How do you think they started hooking up? Due to Dieter internalised homophobia, I doubt he would makes moves towards a man who much more powerful than him in terms of career and rank. Maybe you wrote a story and I just didn’t read. Also I hope you aren’t tired of my questions, im on my “obsessed obsessed obsessed” phase of shipping rn loool

No, I love your questions, anon! I love getting to think about them all over again and I love hearing peoples' takes on them as well.

It took me a while because I can't really go into this without delving into the territory of non-con, and i have to be in the right headspace to like, dive into this. So, yeah, behind the cut because talk of non-con/sexual assault.

(Also, as a note, this is a very abridged version of everything because again I hope to expand upon it more in upcoming fics)

So in the timeline I have for Landstrom, they start hooking up in 1934 (as per "Tease Rough") shortly before the Night of the Long Knives. For those unfamiliar with the event, uh, quick and dirty is that basically Hitler wanted to purge anyone from his ranks he felt was undermining/against him/not conducive to his "vision" for Germany and that included his main homie, Ernst Roehm, who was as "out" as a gay man could be in 1930s Germany. (Like, secret-but-not-a-secret, you feel me?)

So like the point of this is, before Roehm was murdered, homosexuality within the SA and the SS was way more… I mean not "accepted" per se but it was just like, a blind eye was turned to it. Only after Roehm's death and Himmler taking over (the SA was dissolved and what was left was absorbed into the SS) did they start really cracking down on homosexuality within the organization, and then of course persecute citizens who "practiced" it.

In my hcs for Dieter, he joins the SS at a young age (18/19, so around its inception, which would make sense if he's already at major at 34) and at first he's thinking like, okay, discipline and purpose will help rid me whatever the fuck I got going on but then it's like oh. Wait. I can maybe find an advantage here.

For all his internalized homophobia, I think he is also quite audacious (as witnessed in how he interacts with Hugo and Archie, and he seems a bit flippant even with Goebbels, which is… lol probably not wise), and he knows he's attractive in a boyish way. So, yeah he doesn't necessarily proposition officers but he makes it very clear that he's available in exchange for however they might be able to assist him. He's young and reckless and arrogant. He does not think he will be caught or subject to punishment so long as he proves and ingratiates himself, in which case he will have protection (but you know, he's also not above selling people out if need be. I haven't a particular instance in mind but I can ABSOLUTELY imagine he'd play the victim if he were suspected of any of this, because of course he would. His whole life is about playing the victim wah poor me.)

But there's more to it - to him actively seeking out partners (including Hans).

And this is where the non-con/assault comes in. But my hc for him is that he's a victim of rape, his first "boyfriend" when he's 14 and his bf is 17 - and him putting himself out there to sleep with other superior officers to get ahead is yes, exactly what it says on the tin (getting ahead, whoring his way up the ranks) but also self-inflicted punishment, what he feels is deserved for what he "let" happen, and for this behavior he's letting rule him, unchecked. He does not like bottoming but he does it, accepts it, because he feels it's deserved - for this thing he doesn't really want to do (or, shouldn't want to do) but is doing anyway, this is his punishment. It's some fucked up shit that never really gets resolved (of course) and that Hans only sort of? pieces together because he only finds out certain details (about the boyfriend/the rape trauma etc).

As for who starts it, it's addressed in the 2nd chapter of "Preoccupied" that Dieter is the one to proposition Hans (very bluntly, might I add), and this is what draws Hans to him - just that he'd be so brazen about it. Of course, Dieter is a fucking moron and thinks that this means he has any sort of power over Hans, which we know is not true lmao. (Again, this is gone into, in Tease Rough, how Dieter thinks he's in charge and hasn't figured Hans out enough to realize it.)

Hans isn't the first man he tops with, but obviously Dieter is drawn to wanting to continue whatever the fuck they start, because he knows that will rarely, if ever, be an option. He doesn't have to relive the trauma each and every time, which, okay. Like good, I guess? In his mind, any way.

(Also, after Night of the Long Knives, Dieter definitely does not seek out other officers as partners, and lucky for him, many of the men he's been with [I say 'many' but I can't imagine it actually being more than a handful] he either does not see again or they are dealt with. Not all, but most.)

I just personally see Hans as being very turned on and intrigued by people who show that sort of audacity, because it's a nice challenge for him - very stimulating to try and figure out how to one-up them, in the end (tangentially, this is my hc for Hans and Bridget's tryst too, that he's drawn to her being able to keep up with him, banter-wise). I think Hans would be bored by someone who would just give in to his advances immediately, which I have him hinting at has been the case in the past with the few men he's hooked up with - that they submit to him quickly and he's just like yawwnnnn.

And part of the reason Dieter propositions him so confidentally is because he has a Source in re: to the fact that Hans enjoys being with other men.

And this Source will make an appearance in my next Landstrom fic. :)

Oh, there's definitely a lot of fear influencing his actions/decisions but he'll never acknowledge it because fear is unacceptable both as an officer and as a man. Even in "I picture my own grave" he very much consistently frames it as "concern" when thinking about his own fate and that of him and Landa.

But Dieter's wanting to end things with Hans (which is just his knee-jerk reaction when he's pissed about everything lol) stems from the idea too, that it would give him control, which he has absolutely NONE of, no matter how much he tries to convince himself otherwise. And like, something about him wanting to break up is supposed to be proof that he's "overcome" his tendencies... which Hans is like 🙄🥱.... he knows the truth lol.
