will's clock drawings,,, i suddenly have So many questions. bc right. it's not just his ability to draw a clock that's affected by his encephalitis LMAO now i don't know much about anything but let's pretend this somehow doesn't affect how he moves about the world around him & lets say he can type all his reports for the FBI up fine,, but would there not at least be evidence around the office, in his home, in his /classroom/ (imagine him grading ur papers during all of this lmfao) of will's clearly deteriorating ability to write/draw coherently? even with them taking hannibal's word for what it is about will's perfectly fine clock drawing "from two weeks ago" or whatever, no one saw his handwriting and said something to someone?? no one ???

I don't know how many dsmp-ers agree with this, but from a storytelling standpoint, c!Dream is just. A bad villian. I think it's a big reason why the ending is so universally hated.
I think in the beginning, it was okay, because we were all expecting more depth to get added to his character later. I saw so many fancomics and theories and analyses that gave such good ideas for a solid character, motive, and overall, a good villian. But we never really got that payoff.
He starts off with a basic "control obsessed" trait. He opposes the L'Manbergians for a mildly valid reason, and then only gives up the fight for control over Tommy (the discs). Then, Schlatt gives him the revive book; he gets even more control crazy. It's a good setup, but it never pays off in the way we want it to. The ending is unsatisfying for many, and nobody really stops to pity Dream, even though that's what they're trying to do. They're trying to pull this "aw, what a tragic character" card, but it's ultimately unsuccessful. Why? Well...
As I said, the setup is good, but things get muddled in the middle. After Dream gets the revive book, there is not a single moment where he's protrayed in any positive light. In fact, after this point, people's view of him gets worse. He slowly becomes more and more unforgivable. The problem with this is that after a certain point, characters cannot have a redemption arc. Or, at the very least, it would be very, very difficult. Dream hits this point. Once he hits that, the ending that people are expecting for him likely ends in death, or worse. The most satisfying ending for the audience is for him to die in a dramatic fashion—kind of like what happened with Schlatt. Schlatt's a good villian with a good ending; it's a satisfying end for a villian while still making it clear that our protagonists' stories are not over. We expected something like that for Dream, and frankly, nothing else would make sense. He had become so evil that the only option was death. There was no pity.
After he escapes from prison, we were ready for this ending. Clearly, it was ramping up for some big finale. And then, he never shows up. I recognize that there were other things going on behind the scenes that led to the lack of content, but it got to such a point that I was beginning to doubt if it ever would get an ending. I started to think that the dsmp would just fade away, all because their lead villian would not show up. All that build up to a dramatic death was, well, dying off. It was taking too long.
And then, when the ending did come along, it only pushes his "evilness" more. He reveals his revive book experiments and his end plan for Tommy and Tubbo. For a moment, the fact that he was gone for so long disappeared. The tensity is back.
And then they pulled the pity card.
It felt like a cop-out. There was no build up to it, no extra scenes with him before this moment where we stop to see his stuggle. No earlier streams where we can see him in an even slightly positive light. It just doesn't happen. So, of course, when they pull the "why can't things just be simple?" we all are yanked from the illusion of the world.
There are a lot of problems with the ending, but the failure to understand Dream's character, role as a villian, and audience expectations for him definitely harm the ending more than others.
I'd love to hear if you guys agree or disagree or just have anything to add! This is just my opinion, so I'd love to hear if anyone thinks differently. I like analyzing <3

Are Kali and Durga protrayed accurately?
Because you've been only (validly) complaining that they're sakurafaces.
So w the caveat that I’m not Hindu I can take another look at them but this is the general sun of my thoughts independent of the Sakura thing
-Durga isn’t really associated with white to my knowledge? As far as I’ve seen red is far more commonly known to be ‘her’ color, and the white hair, clothes, and tiger (which I don’t think has ever really been made white traditionally) is a weird choice to me given that other goddesses do get more often associated with white
-I don’t really understand what her clothing is supposed to be, but it doesn’t look like traditional clothes or based off what she usually wears
-she is almost always depicted with multiple arms so it was…a choice not to do that. I don’t really get it either, as even in fate passionlip quite literally has 2 ton hands because of durga’s arms/weapons influencing them. Her weapons DO seem to properly show up in her np but outside of it they’re just generic looking spires
-the snake actually is accurate she does sometimes get depicted with that, it’s a representation of shiva/masculine energy
-personally I kind of would’ve wanted her to look more regal or combative, either with armor or a crown or something. This is also a warlike person, right?
-I can’t really speak on her np other than noticing that her weapons appear since I haven’t heard the name-visually it looks like an upgraded version of parvati’s np only instead of cloning herself she clones the Shakti. I’m a hair disappointed with that personally but more bc the imagery of her slaying the demon is so incredibly iconic. Other than that it looks fine.
Kali
-
Tumblr media
-why isn’t she black or dark blue
-No seriously, she very specifically has reasons to be depicted as dark in tone. Where is it?
-her face seems weirdly low contrast to me. While I’m biased bc I would’ve liked a representation of her bloodshot eyes her pupils kind of melt into her skin bc they’re almost the same color
-her outfit…isn’t awful? The coat is kind of cool, actually. She’s usually naked so the metal bikini is eyerollingly predictable but not awful-that aside, the bit under her chest does seem to look like a breast/chest band which is an actual kind of jewelry you see in old temple art of Indian figures. I’m not sure if that was what the artist was going for but I’m taking it
-I…think the dangling parts on her metal top might be representative of her girdle of severed arms?
-no attempt at representing the severed head necklace at all
-she at has the multiple arms. I like the star pattern on them. Could use more jewelry
-most of the held object seem right? No severed head though
-overall far less intense and less frightening than I think she’s supposed to come across ass
-her np is really good though-it’s samhara kali, which is like ‘time destruction’ iirc; and a pretty important part of what she is. I very much liked that they brought her universal aspects into it although I’ll feel disappointed when they find a way to explain how sefar defeated her still somehow.
-her hair should be unbound, free flowing, and dark. Uh. It’s at least one of those?
-I did see an expression sheet and it looks like they did actually do some tongue expressions! So that’s good! Kind of wish they’d gone for a more intense expression with her boss intro video though.
-overall the bones of what’s there are good but it could be improved by upping the intensity

So, I have watched TADC due to all the hype that's been around it and I just... Don't see the reason for any hype to be there at all?
I'll break it down, It's not uncommon for Indie animations to accrue a big following that will stay with them throughout thick and thin as the major appeal of the genre is the romanticised idea of supporting an underdog and helping fulfill the dreams of an art school graduate in realising their own little piece of art. It is also not uncommon for this fandom to dissolve when they perceive an issue in this fantasy that no longer satisfies them like this, which results in all of the jumping ship that happens when a new project is released and the previous fascination is portrayed as bad. And of course the entire juvenile idea of there being mature animation (Read crass and rude, not actually mature.)
So it would make sense for the popularity of tadc to be from this combined reasons, and I feel the reason for this because i saw the show, and the only genuine way this mess would be so popular would be because of spawning st the right time, just as the magic from Lackadaisy and Spindle horse is dying a bit and people need to fix on s new project.
Because let's be real, there's no inherent appeal in digital Circus as a show. The promised theme of the show is Dark Psychological comedy. But like that's not a thing, that's a combination of words that doesn't actually mean anything, walk with me for a second. How do you do dark, psychological, and comedy at the same time. Think about it, yeah, dark comedy is a thing sure. But can you turn that psychological? You have to be serious to be psychological, at least in the way the show protrays it, and it's not working. I don't know whether I'm supposed to be deeply invested because the moments requiring that are cut short by comedy, and I can't take the comedy in because suddenly a serious moment requiring deeper focus.
For real, the whiplash doesn't work, it is a tone issue you're not sure how to approach and the writers certainly aren't skilled enough for this to work.
See the premise could work as a comedy, it very much could, but I'd believe people would hate it because fandom hates not being able to theorize and mysterize the show of the week. So we also get, some bits of seriousness, some attempt at a story, but without actually committing to any. We don't get enough of a story to fully grasp anything coherent, even for pilot standards, but what little there is, is distracting from the premise of no story needed just characters in a setting having fun. It tries to be dark and psychological by attempts of horror, except the "psychological" is just mental torture of the main fem character Pomni, which starts reading like outright fetishism of fem suffering after the second time we're very intimately shown she's breaking down. And the "dark" horror falls short because the inherent fear of the unknown from the monster, the mystery that contains dread is immediately revealed, and the existential horror is underutilized.
Speaking of mysteries, it's kinda embarrassing to try and pull a computer based mystery nowadays, and people fully accepting it as a fresh take. I guarantee you that any reveal of why something in this show is the way it is, will be very underwhelming. Possesed headsets, computer code going haywire, possesed viruses, government experiments, dead people souls in some code. Literally any explanation you can think of has been done, and considering how little these revelations add to a story, their only aspect being shock value suddenly dissapears, and now you will be left with a nothing of a reveal in your nothing of a story.
And that's really what it is. A sandbox, It's a tumblr post of one of the various potential cartoon shows like Officer and mr. Paws, except they actually managed to make a pilot. The only appeal the show has is introducing a few tumblr sexymen and sexywomen. I do not see any appeal in this show, no story it wants to tell.
I would say they're like clowns in a circus just playing for your enjoyment, which would be clever, but it's something so obviously advanced for how the show appears to be written right now that I seriously doubt that was an intentional parallel.

this isnt me requesting a fic or drabble or anything, and i do NOT mean to sound critical/mean in any way of how youve written Vash, but i think you have an interesting oppurtunity to have Reader find out >> call out Vash on sleeping with his prosthetic on
admittingly, ive never watched any form of Trigun (i only know some things via Pop Culture Osmosis). i just like your romance writing; you are very good at polishing your craftsmanship, it's, again, very good. so ill read whatever (so long as i.. vaguely recognize the property at least). so i dont know if Vash cannonically sleeps with his prosthetic on-- but as a disabled person who has friends with missing limbs, even if the creator of Trigun hypothetically says it's fine that Vash sleeps with it: no, it's not. not in real life. it can cause injuries to the limb and the stump needs to de-stress. that's how real life prosthetics work (and, off-topic, is a detail i really like about Full-Metal Alchemist! they talk about this and show it! a lot! (maybe Trigun does too, idk, again, i havent seen it))
but yeah! idk if sleeping with prosthetics is something canonical to Trigun or if it is something you accidentally assumed (no hard feelings there either way, lots of disabled media accidentally protrays this. Hiccup in How To Train Your Dragon and Finn in Adventure Time are both widely beloved disabled representations and also their creators fuck up sometimes and have them sleep with their prosthetics on. it happens. you live and you learn). if youd like to learn more, there's a youtube channel called Oakwyrm where disabled representation is the main point of discussion (fun fact: they even have a video analyzing the disabled representation in a Barbie fairy movie, that's fun lmao). i would link you the specific videoes id recommend you watch, but tumblr doesnt like anons sending links, so i just recommend checking out their channel (again: they have videos on Hiccup of How To Train Your Dragon, Finn of Adventure Time, and Edward of Full-Metal Alchemist. so there are a variety of resources on their channel about how prosthetics are handled in media. all three of these videos are typically pretty short and fairly succinct. i recommend watching all three and any other video topic of Oakwyrm's that catches your fancy, but im not gonna push you to watch something you dont wanna watch lmao) just wanted to give you that as a good opening point for resource about disability
i do think you having written the Reader seeing Vash sleep with his prosthetic on gives you a unique opportunity tho! (again, this isnt a Request. i know those are closed. its more of an "i dont want you to feel bad and i also dont want you to panic and take down those fics or anything, here's a helpful reminder that theres Other Options and you can use this as a jumping off point for future fic ideas or you can ignore this idea and just Write Prosthetics Differently In The Future", i dunno, its your blog, your writing, im not in charge lmao) you now have a history of the Reader knowing he sleeps with it on and can now potentially write a fic about why him doing that would make sense from a character stand-point. like why isnt he taking care of himself? why is he risking ruining that prosthetic or hurting his stump? does he not typically feel safe enough to be that vulnerable or is it a self-image thing or, or, or...? like, there is oppurtunity there. and it does make sense in some of your fics why he wouldnt-- the sick-fic you wrote recently is one of my favorite of yours ever, and it makes complete sense that Vash wouldn't go the extra step of taking off his prosthetic if there was a chance he'd need to use that arm to help take care of the Reader or if it's over-use is part of the reason why maybe his body runs as warm as it does. its just some spaghetti to throw at the wall, y'know, see if it sticks, scrap it and cook something else up if it doesn't. i dont want you to think im entitled or anything, again, this isnt a request at all. just some proverbial spaghetti to throw, you can feel free to respond via scrapping my pitch and doing your own thing reactive to this correction on how living with prosthetics works. maybe Reader is a techie who Vash visits to fix his prosthetic. i dunno if that's a role already taken in the canon of the show/manga. but hey, whatever you wanna do now that you know one shouldnt sleep with their prosthetic on and have a starting point with research, im sure ill be all for ♡ do whatever you want, its your blog ♡♡♡
but yEAH, ive encountered enough Squirrelly Writers who panic at any sign of innacuracy or problematic aspects in their hard-work where i think me being on the back-foot and going "you do NOT have to delete everything you wrote that is inaccurate to real experiences with prosthetics" makes sense. so i do want to reiterate that: you do NOT have to do that (and, ngl to you, fam, i would feel really bad if you did; i really like your work with Vash, like i said, the sick-fic specifically is one of my favorite fics by anybody that ive read in a while, that shit will be sticking around my noggin). i just wanted to reiterate that. i dont think you are a bad person or that this is immoral or anything. i think its a common mistake and, ill admit, i know squat about that other cgi show you watch with another prosthetic-user, but i noticed this was recurring with Vash, so i thought id gently mention it since i know it is a common mistake people make without, y'know, realizing its a mistake. and if Trigun shows Vash cannonically sleeping with his prosthetic, shame on them, that really sucks, they should do better by him and their disabled audience. but you?? you're just one person writing romance for fun. youre not a corporation with editors who should know to research this stuff before publishing. (or, who knows, maybe Trigun does show Vash taking his prosthetic off before sleeping, i dunno, im a casual fan of YOUR work, i dont know anything about Trigun beyond what i vaguely absorbed via Pop Culture Osmosis due to having been in the anime and sci-fo community in the past. i have no idea if they do or dont do their research. they should. but i certainly dont know if they do or not)
so yeah. just wanted to put that out there so Now You Know and the ball is now in your court as towards what to do with that information now that you have it. im sure ill love whatever you do with it, again, big fan of what you make as is already ♡ lots of love to you and yours, have a good day!!
(scooping up your proverbial spaghetti into a pot for later use in fanfic inspiration)
Tumblr media
Thank you so much for all of your kind words! As for Trigun, as much as I love it, it's not the most realistic when it comes to the actual drawbacks and difficulties of having a prosthetic limb. It could be because it's a futuristic sci-fi piece, or the writers just don't want to get into it, or they just didn't know much about actual prosthetic management, but Vash doesn't really make a point to remove his prosthetic intentionally all that often. They've shown him sleeping in it before, and as far as I can remember in the OG anime the only time he didn't have it was when he was switching to a new model of arm.
There could be canonical reasons for that! It could be because of his vague inhuman-ness, or because he's self punishing, or any number of reasons we could interpolate from the OG mediums that they don't succinctly spell out for us. But reasons aside, the realities of using/wearing a prosthetic limb would make very interesting fic writing details, and I'd definitely like to dig into it a bit more in the future.
This ask actually comes at the perfect time, because as I've been working on my Twitch Streamer Trigun AU I've been doing some research on the realities of being a competitive (or even casual) video game player while being physically disabled. I've been doing a lot of thinking and researching on how people with only one arm actually play video games and custom controllers and set-ups and stuff, so while I may or may not go into it in super serious detail in the future I'm definitely going to at least touch on it more than once!
And last but not least, thank you for being so kind and respectful about commenting! I'm more than willing to admit that if I'm broaching a subject I'm not the most versed in I may make a mistake or two, and I'm alright with that! A long time ago I wrote a Stardew Valley fic and mistranslated some sign language, and like you I had a very kind and friendly reader point out my goof-up in a way that didn't mock me or make me feel stupid. I don't mind being corrected at all, as long as people are being nice about it. I'm only human too, afterall.
Anyway, TLDR; Thanks for being so nice, I'd love to write more about Vash's prosthetic in the future <3

Screw all the Byler proof, I have the biggest and most important evidence of all:
Who could actually be bothered? Like, the Duffers have put so much time and money and effort into this show and so much thought into the way they protray Will and Mike. Why would they spend all these years doing that if they were just queerbaiting us? There are much easier ways to queerbait a fandom but they went all in with it and it has clearly been planned. If Byler isn’t real then they wasted at least seven years just for building up a gay rejection story. And what would even be the point of that? Everyone hates queerbaiting. They wouldn’t try so hard if they were just going to make Mike straight in the end. They know that if Byler doesn’t happen it will be seen as queerbaiting and this will ruin the show for loads of people. If Byler isn’t real, then Stranger Things isn’t as special, and the Duffers know this because lgbtq people already struggle, and the whole “gay boy falls in love with straight boy” is overused and reserved for side characters. Having Will be rejected would not only be a boring ending, but be completely useless/predictable as a character arc. As many of the actors have said, the Duffers plan every single little detail. If their plan was to queerbait us and have milk choc cookies be endgame, then that means they kinda suck at storytelling and intentionally ruined their show. So Byler is going to happen.

So I had an idea.
Abyssal's not sure how long she's been hiding in the little dark corner of the multiverse she found, but by now she's reasonably certain that no one's going to find her, assuming they're even looking (and some small, rebellious part of her hopes they are). And then, because she just can't have nice things at this point, somebody stumbles in.
And she has no fucking idea what's up with this strange blue blobby guy, because he's clearly a game character but somehow has high enough code density to comfortably exist in a Program area like this one. Plus the energy he's giving off feels almost but not quite like her own, as if somebody tried and nearly succeeded in replicating Abyss Code. There's also something vaguely familiar about his appearance.
Tumblr media
"Well hi! Didn't expect to see anyone in here." They lean in to get a good look at her, closer than she would've been comfortable with even on a good day, and she scrambles back in terror.
"D-don't get so close!"
Mercifully, they back off, their gloopy, drooling grin becoming a bit sheepish "Ah, sorry about that. I'm not great at the whole "personal space" thing."
They keep looking her over, clearly taking note of the scraps of feather on what could be loosely considered the floor, but not seeming inclined to bring it up, "Anyway, I'm Ecolo! Who're you?"
"I'm..." she hesitates, then starts curling into herself, "I'm nobody, really."
For a few seconds after she says that, there's a strange Look in Ecolo's eyes, and his smile drops for the first time since he showed up...and then the moment ends before she can figure out what it means and he's got that dopey grin again, "Well, I gotta call you something. You alright with Pinky?"
"...Sure." Something tells her he'd be calling her that anyway, so why not, "Sorry for snapping at you. I don't want anyone getting too close because I...I'm dangerous to be around. Really dangerous."
"Dangerous, huh? That why you're hiding in here?"
She nods.
After a moment, he sits down across from her...or at least, he shifts from a vaguely standing position to a kicked back lounging position and floats closer to the "floor" than he was previously, "Well, I'm considered pretty dangerous myself in some circles, so you're in good company!"
"That-You don't understand. I could really hurt someone. I did hurt someone!"
"So have I," and he's got that Look again, and now she can see in it that he does understand, "Lots of times. Some of 'em were even on purpose."
She's not sure what to say to that. Not sure what to think, about him or herself or the Abyss or Um-
"Say, do ya like games?"
She blinks, her swirling thoughts quieting for a moment as she processes the sudden question, "I...maybe?"
He's back to being all smiles, "Great! I know a pretty good one we can play. Might help you take your mind off things for a bit."
As he's talking, he summons a few little colored blobs and idly fiddles with them in his hands, and abruptly she realizes where she knows him from, "Those are Puyo's right?"
"Oh good, you're familiar! You ever played before?"
"I...not really, but I know the rules at least." Well, more that she can download them into her processor, but still.
"Works for me!" He sets up a pair of Puyo boards for them in a way that's somewhat similar to bringing up a Command Box, just with magic instead of code.
"Just so you know, I'm pretty good at this, so don't get too mad when you lose."
Despite herself, she smirks, "Don't go acting like you've already won, we've still got a whole game to play."
"That's the spirit Pinky! Now, if you're all set.."
"Let's play Puyo Puyo!"
(I'll admit it seems a little on the lighthearted and silly side for an arc this dark and angsty, but I couldn't help myself.)
OKAY THIS IS REALLY SWEET? Abyssal hiding herself awa obviously is not, by the way you protray her emotions is?? Yes?? And then Ecolo coming in, code bearing a resemblance to Abyss Code, making her on guard?? JUST??? ALL OF THIS IS GREAT I LOVE IT A LOT

Heyo it's me it's been a few days and i just want a bit of a rant about how i feel about the romance in mianite. Specifically s2 ianite and how it her negativitly ive seen some people react to her slight romance subplot. (Also slight tangent sparklez being completely uninterested and actively rejecting her advancements is some character work heavy fucking lifting i love that sparklez has a very specific kinda love for ianite and doesnt make room for other kinds even when the possibility is dangled before him and its a relationship that at least a single version of him is more than content with he completely rejects it in favor of showing his devotion as a champion of her domain. So good and i could write an essay on the different ways the mortals love the gods. Especially in season 2 where the gods are so close to the people and the "relationship" with god is a straight up relationship and not just how you view yourself as a believe.) but, s2 team ianite deals with identity alot. If i had to pick a theme that'll be it. Martha being she suffers from some yikes levels of imposter syndrome, andor feels as if he's missing some key feature of himself and is turns to religion to find it [but it's quite literally inside him] I'm not going to even touch the themes of self discovery and acceptance of self that andor goes through. And even helgrind is revealed to a suffering from feelings of inadequacy and betrayal. (This is why they are actually team cryatnite) ianite herself is both dealing with her own mortality and the unique to her issue that she cant see people as an individual and sees them as every version of them. When she See's sparklez she sees spark, tom whe sees mot ect. And this sorta double sight keeps her from truly loving the people/heroes for who they are. She's not really just here in the moment with the people and that's why she keeps trying to get sparklez affection but can only ever have his admiration
Apologises for taking a while to answer this, I've had a busy few days.
Honestly, I think romance is one of the main weaknesses in Mianite in general, mostly how they try and shove any female character that appears more than once into being a romantic interest. Season 2 Ianite just so happens to have been completely rejected by Jordan so completely, that is seemed weird when it kept going. I do agree that I think it works very well for her as a character, with her seeing Jordan as Spark rather than his own person, or at the very least a replacement for Spark, as unhealthy as that is.
I don't think the one-sided romance is the worst thing, though I do think something could've been done to make her seem less flirty and more… I don't know like sad? Like to protray that she genuinely sees Jordan as Spark, and sees herself as talking to him, because you interact with a husband/long term partner much differently than typical flirting. But also I'm probably not the best person to be writing romance, since I typically just go off vibes when writing it.
You also definitely have a point about imposer syndrome being a theme among the Conways, which I think is another way they could've done the flirting if they had wanted either Ianite or Martha to be copying the other, though I'm not sure if that thought makes any sense.

I'll confess this today cuz it's xmas(and i don't know why but i always associate this photo with something to do with xmas, now thinking i not even know with this photo really has something to do with xmas🙄, ep5 is the episode that i least remember the things🙄), I-don't-like-this-illustration😤💢, cuz i hate how it twisted/twist sean and daniel's characters (specially daniel's😒💢), like, this photo is probably from the past (their life in Seattle), but sean and daniel vibe looks like them from episode 5💢with sean being protrayed as a saint🙏, the loving big brother who always spend time with his family, and daniel being the evil, the ungranteful, urgh, for me the vibes that they give/gave me in this image (cuz i hated it this image since the first time i saw it😒)is like this, sean being like "oh, i love my family, i love my father and my little brother😊✨🌸i love you guys sooo much" and daniel being like "urgh, take photos with family/big brother is soo cringey",urgh💢, being that who was like this in seattle was sean!, not daniel!💢, not saying that sean didn't loved his family, and sometimes appreciated them😒(tho,i think he was very mean/distant in aspects of daniel), but from ep 1/ep 3 flashback you can see that sean was the typical teenager brother character, he is all more about his friends than his family, and daniel in episode 1 who was the loving one, the one that enjoyed spending time with the family together!💢, but for some reason this illustration seems to twist their characters from episode 1💢🔥and i hate it😒💨
That's why me and marina we invent a little funny situation just to make this illustration sound more appealing😤, i imagine like sean was planning to take a xmas photo with his family so he could post on social media/show to his friends just to make himself look like a nice son, while sean was adjusting the camera daniel was messing around, and that annoyed him, sean fight with daniel, the father appeared right after it, then sean pretended that everything was fine before daniel could say something, and then the shot was taken, and that's why sean is with this big smile, because he managed to get away from his father's scolding, and daniel is with that face because he is upset with sean, and didn't wanted to stay beside him😂, for me that's what happened in this photo😂, is way more better imagine like that😂

We Need to Talk about Encanto (rant)
First off, I loved this movie. The music slaps, the story is beautiful, the art--holy shit. But I’ve been noticing unfortunately, some really huge misunderstandings between people’s views of characters on the movie or how its portrayed. I’ve seen a lot of the Latinx/Hispanic community rightfully voicing their issues with people hijacking this movie’s meaning. I’m not part of the Latinx/Hispanic community, but I’m more than willing to echo these complaints and concerns because it needs to be said.
Overall, Encanto is a character based story. It is a generational trauma story. A bunch of people saw themselves in different characters and are using the characters to express their own family issues online and that's absolutely great. And that transcends backgrounds easily which only adds to how good a movie this is.
But mostly, I’ve been hearing issues with the queer community (specifically white queer people) framing the healing and growth as “coming out” and that’s been seen to overshadow the more intended meaning. Isabella’s differently colored dress is one of the biggest arguing points I’ve seen like “oh she was secretly gay the whole time and that's why she didn’t want to marry the suave guy (I totally blanked on his name)”was her authenticity coming through not...queerness. Anyone who was the golden child knows about the authenticity issue. She didn’t want to marry the man because she didn’t like the man like that. And it’s not really far-fetched to say Isa might’ve known how Dolores felt about him and didn’t want to do that to her cousin. It was very clear Abuela and dude’s mom was the one setting the two of them up, they were “perfect” it made sense. Isa probably felt like her hands were tied because she had to keep up a facade of perfection because it pleased Abuela.
And I’m saying this as a queer/gay person myself; not everything rainbow is specifically gay! Isa’s colors were messy because she had to learn how to be herself and sometimes being yourself is not pretty or organized. She’s learning rawness, hence the mess of colors. Beautiful in its own way but not conventionally pretty. Also, do you really want to associate imperfection with gay? I thought we as a whole were trying to move past that. Because I swear the same people who are stomping up and down about this being gay and that being gay, would break down if yet another fuckng movie protrayed being gay as being imperfect or bad.
Another thing I’ve seen along with the Latinx/Hispanic community is a lot of sexualization of characters in the movie which...stop. That community has more than enough issues with fetishization. Do not tack on more. Camillo is 15. And I state that cause it seems like he gets the worst of it. He’s a child. Enough. Bruno is at least an adult. And cool, people simp over Bruno a bit, whatever. I’ve seen some cute him and reader fics and shit. People simp over Luisa and she’s a young adult. Big strong lady attracts the wlw community, I get it. Attraction is one thing and that’s fine, but I’ve seen some fetishizing shit and no matter how “good” your intentions are, fetishizing is dehumanization at its core. And none of it is subtle.
I’d speak more on Abuela and the skewed view she’s been given but...I haven’t seen enough of that to properly go on about it. I just want to say this is a villainless movie. Abuela has done wrong, yes, but she also makes steps to atone for that and a lot of it is her own unaddressed trauma. Is it an excuse to how she was acting? No. But that’s like...the point...of the movie!!?! It’s gonna start and end with her because Mirabel is the one who opens that opportunity to get everything aired out, she’s getting the family to start over. That includes Abuela. Which is nice in my opinion because it shows you’re never too late/too old to start making changes too.
And I’d encourage the Latinx/Hispanic community to correct me if I’m wrong about things here, cause at the end of the day, this is your movie, your representation. You should feel inclined to speak on it and your grievances are more than valid. I truly do hope it does spark more chances for more Latinx/Hispanic based movies.
---
TLDR: People need to stop oversexualizing characters, especially Camillo, leave Abuela alone, not everything rainbow is gay or a coming out take and most importantly, listen to the Latinx/Hispanic community about discourse like this on Encanto. Listen to the people a movie reps, ffs.
Also yes, a lot of the issues  I’ve seen were on tiktok but it still needs addressing.

THE CHOKEHOLD CUTIE PIE HAS ON ME!! ITS BEEN ONE EP!!
this first ep was so good. Omg. They introduced the dynamics so well and the conflict between Hia Lien and Kuea is explained from both sides.
Also that board meeting. .. YES ZEE CALL OUT THE BIGOTRY! LOWDER FOR THE BICHES AT THE BACK!!! also his assistant is so cute love him <3
The flash backs!!! I cried seeing their family relationship and stuff RIGH AFTER the fight TuT hielian bro why are u insulting him?? U meanie >:( - like now I gotta know why he's being such an ass to him when in those flashbacks he's clearly infatuated with him like 🧐
I AM HOOKED
The MF ACTING. We all know zee is absolutely Amazing™ and those arguments made me highkey hate hielian but then the flashbacks just had me crying over his heart eyes. We Stan range. Nunew protrays the two sides of Kuae SO WELL OMG polar opposites while still being the same person. When he was crying, I was crying with him😭🤧That drunken scene was so funny I was hollering when he fell down and woke up XD
I am floored RN. I love how the whole Kirin mystery is already being revealed in ep2! One bc it doesnt drag it out and two bc it makes sense: Gemini is competition so they must have been looking into kirin for a while and would eventually find out who he is !!
I'm so intriged by the whole engagement bit. First, its a new type of plot for BL, but the specifics are so interesting. Personally, I think Kuae's grandpa wanted to bless their union/wanted to know who his grandson might marry in order to rest easy (I cried when they showed Kuae crying! No one told him!!! :'((( )
It makes me think Hialian MUST love him (at least at the time) bc its not a legal marriage thing (as said by Hia Yi) so honoring his word seems to vague an answer? Its not like he needs Kuae's family money now that he's a ceo himself - even if its to repay him, his grandfather said he didnt have to agree so I wonder if that will be explored.
Love the cast already. Very exited to see what Hia Yi and Kon (or is it Diao ? I don't know what his name is exactly) relationship is like (I'm so happy seeing them act as a couple again!). love how they both seem to be good support systems for each lead. Also Perth (Jay) looks so good and him speaking English makes me lose it (every time man) love the bits of English since its established Kuae and Kon studied in the UK!
Kuae engineering squad was so cute (also ACTUAL ENGINEERING WORK IN MY BL?? wild) I think seeing them puts the audience perspective on the image Kuae has put on for HieLian (who thinks he's doing a computer engineering degree, I'd assume bc is more 'proper' than the mechanical more manual stuff he actually does (also mans rides a motorcycle for fun so his major makes sense!) Like u can tell its something integral to his character. I'm guessing Kuae changed so much for HieLian's social image and his perceived taste (see the date scene) bc its clear Hia has reacted negatively to Kuae's actual personality.
Speaking of the date *sigh* Hialian my guy...wtf...how can u sit there and expect my Kuae to not be mad! You have a date plan and invite a "buissness partner" who is over u the entire time? I'd be pissed too tf-
TLDR my saturdays are now 1000% better I'm so exited for the rest of this show.

Misbehave.
Tumblr media
🦋a/n : I got bored and this is what came of it and an anon request mixed into it. I hope you enjoy. ❤️ Yup, listen to misbehave rn. Do it. (hear me out the slowed down version 💔)
Warnings : implied smut. angst, this hurts a bit. don't be mad at me y'all. I was in my feels.... Does this have a happy ending.... idk.
☀️ "I meant every word" + changkyun ☀️
{1:25am} The flower vase laid in pieces on the floor, you dropped it when he told her she wasn't his. His words, lingering in her head, 'i don't love you'. That's what he said. She looked at him, as he leaned back against the counter top with a smug look on his face.
"Why now?" she asked, breaking the silence and looking at him. He cocked his head to the side as if debating whether to take his words back or not.
"I got tired of playing this game with you. It's exhausting." he said, shrugging, hands in his pockets. This was normal of him, they'd fight and he'd shut down. Turn off all his emotions and lash out. It's not the first time, but god knows it's nearing the last time, she could only take so much.
"You're lying. You wanna know what I think? I think you're being a coward. Everytime we argue you do this. You take out all your anger on me and act as if you have no emotions and I know you Changkyun. I know you aren't this asshole you protray yourself to be" she said, voice shaking as tears threatening to spill out of her eyes. His eyes softened at the sight of her breaking in front of him but it faded just as quick.
"I meant it. I meant every word. When I said I didn't love you, when I said I'm only with you for a quick fuck. I take you back everytime because you always come running back. Nothing more. Nothing less." he said, sighing and pushing his long black hair back. She walked over to him and put her hands on his shoulders. She looked him in his eyes without breaking eye contact.
"Say it again." she said, tears staining her cheeks.
"What?" he asked, placing his hands on her waist, softly trying to push her away but not completely doing it. He knew it was all a lie, everything he was saying. He loved her but he knew she deserved better than him.
"Say it again. Say it while looking at me in the eyes and I'll let you leave for good this time. I won't chase you, I won't beg you to come back. I'll let you go" she said, staring at him. His grip on her waist tightening as he pulled her closer.
"You're crazy..." he said, his lips inches away from her. He reached his hand up to wipe her tears that he caused. His eyes softening at the sight of the girl he had broken one too many times.
"What can't you say it?" she asked, voice being cut off by his lips crashing onto hers. It was a wave of emotions running through her body. His hands wrapped around her waist tightly, pulling her flat against his body. He thrusted his hips against her. A small moan escaping her lips.
"I love you" he said, pulling away from the kiss, lips swollen from the pressure. Her hands wrapped around his neck and laced in his hair, slightly tugging his head back.
"Show me then" she said, lips crashing onto his again, as he pushed her against the counter. He lifted her onto the counter and he settled between her thighs. Her legs wrapping around him as he left a trail of wet kisses on her neck. Leaving marks against her skin, the room fell silent, only for a few low moans every time he sucked at a weak spot on her neck.
"God, you look so beautiful" he said, admiring his marks on you. His hand squeezing her thigh gently, as his fingers pushed up his shirt she were wearing. She moved closer to the edge of the counter pressing her heat against his crotch. He groaned at the pressure and laughed lightly.
"Someone's eager" he said, his fingers slowly tracing the outline of her underwear. Her hands unbuckled his belt as he watched her hands fumble with it. Her hands slowly unbottoning his shirt.
"Since when do you tease?" he said, tilting her head so she can look at him.
"Since you decided to be an ass everytime we fight" she said, smiling up at him. He kissed her forehead as she pushed his shirt off, the thin fabric falling to the floor.
Her lips leaving kisses along his chest as she pulled him closer. Her tongue moving painfully slow against his neck as he groaned in frustration. She softly starting suck at his exposed skin and he moans placing his hands softly on her neck pulling her away.
"Baby, you know the stylist won't like that" he said, remembering what happened last time he went to work with hickies all over his neck. He got scolded and make up took longer than needed. She groaned and got down off the counter.
"Oh c'mon where are you going?" he called after her, he started walking to the bedroom.
"To shower! and don't think of joining me. You're still and asshole." she said, as she walked into the bathroom.
"But I'm your asshole right?" he asked, standing in the doorway of the bathroom. She turned the hot water on and turned to face him hands over her chest.
"Oh shut up, kyun" she said, biting your lip to hold back a laugh. She took off your shirt and noticed him staring.
"I'm a lucky guy, you sure you don't want company in the shower?" he asked, winking as his his smiled seeing she didn't have a bra under his shirt.
"I can handle myself, but thank you for offering" she said walking over and closing the door in his face while winking.
"You'll pay for that when you come out!" he said, on the other side of the door, playfully knocking on it. His words leaving butterflies in her stomach but she was smarter than to let him have his way that easily. At least not tonight.

if youre still doing the character thing, how about spirit or marie?
I sure am. How about Spirit And Marie? Both wonderful characters. I’ll do Marie first, then Spirit. Thanks for the excuse to infodump, really. You people are too kind.
Marie Mjolnir
My first impression of Marie was the same impression I get of most female characters in anime. It’s either “why do their clothes have to look like that” or “oh god here comes the obligatory sexist heteronormative romance”. For Marie, it was more of the second. They mention in the same episode she’s introduced that Stein is her “first love”, which told me that if she had a large place in the plot, her assigned male counterpart around which to orbit would be him. Though I’ve never read the Soul Eater manga, I believe they do end up getting together there (I could be wrong). Whatever the case, I was relieved that Marie’s and Stein’s relationship (though heavily implied to be romantic, at least on Marie’s side) was left open to interpretation in the anime. I’m just very sick of cool badass female characters like Marie being reduced to the man they pine after. So, I guess my first impression of Marie and my impression of her now are largely the same. While I appreciate the moments we get to see her strengths and ability to operate on her own, I do think that her character really suffers because of the whole sexist “oh gosh all I want is to find a husband and retire” “oh my I have to take care of Stein” like okay, I had enough at the cat girl smothering Soul with her humungo-tits. I had enough at sexualizing underage girls and women in general. I had enough at making sexual harassment a punchline. That being said, when we push all of the shitty writing to the side, I admire Marie for her strength and how she interacts with the children, Crona in particular. Which leads me to my favorite moment(s).
The relationship Crona and Marie have interests me the most, since I’m really drawn to the parallels between Marie and Medusa. As parental figures (and as characters), they’re about as different as you can get. As Crona’s mother, Medusa is obviously abusive. Along with being negligent, she abuses Crona mentally, emotionally, and physically. In general, Medusa is a person who doesn’t appear to value interpersonal relationships, putting it nicely. She instead is more focused on her own interests, often to the detriment of those around her. Crona is Medusa’s only immediate family (besides Arachne who she is estranged from), and so they suffer the most from her refusal to show even a shred of human decency or warmth. They suffer especially because they are her child, meaning they’re stuck with her essentially, and repetivie abuse between family members like a mother and child often becomes complex because of the necessity of having a parental figure in your life to support you as you grow up. Medusa teaches Crona that their boundaries don’t matter and that they are only good as long as they are useful and do as they’re told. This is what makes Marie’s influence on Crona so cool to watch. Marie is caring by nature, loving and nurturing by nature. Her very wavelegnth is healing. She is kind and does what’s right reflexively. Marie is the exact embodiment of what Crona always needed but what, even upon being rescued by the academy, still felt so foreign to them: unconditional love. Crona struggles to understand why the other kids helped them, why Maka felt the inclination to stop their battle and save Crona instead by trying to understand them, why the kids are still so kind to them even after everything. They do not understand that love is not a bargaining chip. It isn’t leverage in an argument. It’s not a tool for emotional manipulation. Love is caring for the people close to you, just because. Love for the sake of love. The other kids and teachers at the academy are the ones who are able to pull Crona out of all Medusa’s lies, and Marie is a Huge part of that. Even though I have greivances with this being the largest part of her character and what that implies for female characters in general, it doesn’t stop being so beautiful to me that she could help Crona heal in this way. Marie = best mom for the win
Most of the story ideas I have for Marie involve her relationship with Crona or Stein. Say, this covers my unpopular opinion too. I don’t like Stein and Marie as a couple, but I really enjoy writing them as friends, because even though I don’t really jive with them being together romantically, I think their dynamic is an interesting one to explore because they Are so different.
Getting into that a little bit more, I’d like to start by saying I don’t care if other people like Stein and Marie being a couple. That’s great doods, keep doing you. The fanart’s adorable, the meta’s fantastic. Whoever you are, SteinMarie shippers, ffs keep kicking ASS. This is just my preference and opinion. Zero shade in this house. That said, because of my frustrations about Marie’s character I discussed in the first paragraph, I don’t like the idea of her and Stein being together romantically. It’s really a classic sexist trope: the troubled man and his sweet nurse. I’m also just fed up in general with the hetero-nonsense, so there. However, they are both wonderful characters that I enjoy very much seperately. Also, I think it’s worth mentioning that I’ve only seen the anime, so I can’t speak for the manga as far as their relationship or Marie’s character in general.
Oh shit I accidentally already talked about this one lmao [see the second paragraph]
One headcanon I like to think about when I’m writing Marie is that she likes women (in addition to men or not) and she struggles with comphet. Just something interesting I like to think about. It’s really fun for me to take characters who have been written as pining or had 10 million failed relationships and be like “say what if they can’t find a husband cuz really what they really need is a wife”. I’ll talk about that more with Spirit inevitably.
Spirit Albarn
My first impression of Spirit, obviously him being a cheater, really came with a lot of distaste. I come from a family that was torn apart by infidelity, among other things, so it really rubs me the wrong way. However, his saving grace for me was that he genuinely loves his daughter. It appears that, whether it’s played for laughs or not, he just can’t find fulfillment in his romantic relationships. The reason is left up to the veiwers. Spirit, ultimately, is not just a shitty person, which is how most cheaters are protrayed in media. “Well, they cheated because they don’t care if they hurt people”, “they cheated because they are shit and that’s it”. That’s a fine explanation if you plan to do nothing with whatever character you’re describing, but Spirit is relatively recurring and is shown to be neither mean-spirited or emotionally unintelligent. It bothers me that his cheating and routine sexist behaviour isn’t taken seriously enough to be a subject that Soul Eater tackles and deals with. But that’s fine. I’ll just do it myself. At any rate, I still feel that same way about Spirit’s character, but I find it intriguing that he seems to genuinely want to become a better father and is actually a pretty good dad when it comes to his interactions with Maka. If Soul Eater had been brave enough to develop him more, maybe delve into the reasoning behind his impulsive romantic affairs, I think Spirit as a character could have been done more justice. It seems to me that he could be suffering from some of that wonderful compulsory heterosexuality that I mentioned before, then becoming confused when the woman he claims to love leaves him feeling empty. Rattling my gay little cage
When I think of my favorite moments with Spirit, I think of his moments with Maka, but I’m gonna hold off on that until I get to favorite relationship(s). In reference to what I talked about in the first paragraph, one moment I find really interesting when I’m thinking about my interpretation of Spirit’s character is the scene where he and Maka are on the roof talking. Maka asks Spirit why he cheated on her mother if he did, in fact, love her. He doesn’t appear to know the answer, and he doesn’t really understand how to effectively communicate that, though he was shitty husband, what he really wants now is to try and be a better dad. We hear his inner monologue, and he says something like “I love you [Maka] and your mama. That’s the truth. That’s the truth. That’s the truth.” Every time he says “its the truth” it sounds more like he’s forcing it. This is actually something that is SO strange to me. Even if I didn’t project a queer narrative on to the characters I love, I would look at this and be like “huh that is a Weird thing to say in that specific way”. Why does he say it like that? Why does he have to say it more than once? He’s only talking to HIMSELF. It isn’t like he’s trying to convince Maka. Why does he have to convince himself?? Could it possibly be because he’s reached a conclusion about his romantic/sexual orientation that he’s been trying to swallow his Entire Life??? makes ya wonder, doesn’t it, queers?
Just like I said when I talked about Stein, most of the stories I have in mind with Spirit center around that sweet gayness. But also, I like to think of ways Spirit could come to terms with his sexuality, how it might have affected him when he was young, his relationship with all these women, with his wife. I love to think about him being a dad at 18 and trying his best, but how much responsibility that must have been. Lots of great ideas when it comes to Spirit.
Um? unpopular opinion would be all the standard like I said with Stein lmao. “Oh no!” scream the heteros, “that they/them on tumblr is making Soul Eater queer we canst not allow that in our church!!!111!” But besides that, maybe even the fact that I think he’s redeemable?? Idk most everyone I’ve met thinks Spirit is funny at least and just calls him a dumbass and a slut (affectionate). Doesn’t mean anybody thinks cheating on your wife 56 times is okay so. I like this fandom, it’s chill here. My favorite is when I see my art tagged like “aw the stupid man and his crazy bf” like YOU ARE RIGHT
My favorite relationship when it comes to Spirit (besides Stein cuz if I start talking about them again I’ll never finish this ask) is the one he has with Maka. If you can call it a relationship lol. I guess I just find Spirit’s approach to Maka as a parent really refreshing. Not that the parents in other shows don’t love their kids or whatever, it’s just that the loving parent always seems to be paired with some other trope that makes their character hard to approach. especially in anime. Like the perfect mother who dies in the first episode, and we spend the rest of the show mourning her. Or the father whose love is somehow everlasting even though he’s never home. It’s really the fact that Spirit is even THERE that I love. He knows what Maka is up to. He talks about her. He’s invested in her life, and he loves her. All he wants is to spend time with her, and though he’s sad when she turns him down, he doesn’t push her. god dammit I just like a dad who actually loves his kids without all the usual strings attached like. oh my kids are a huge pain in my ass, but I love them in spite of it. oh i’m a man so can’t relate to my children in a meaningful way but i try. Get the fuck outta here with that shit. I want all the dads to get so happy when their daughters wanna hang with them that they throw up like Spirit. Give me the guy who loves his daughter so naturally, whose daughter is such a huge part of his life, that it doesn’t even occur to him stop trying even if she literally wants to murder him. That’s Spirit. jfc
To end with a cute little headcanon, I really love to think that when Spirit gets older and starts losing the color in his hair, instead of getting white or grey, his hair turns a pale pink color cuz he’s such an aggressive redhead. Wouldn’t that just be adorable? late 30′s, early 40′s, Spirit starts getting little pink streaks in his hair and then bam. Little pink old man Spirit XD
There ya have it. Thanks for the ask, and feel free to send more.

I'm sorry if I irked you in any way, I wasn't trying to say these tropes are bad per say, just that I don't know where they have come from or how they came to be. I joined the fandom last year, you see. I haven't been in it from the start of the show.
And yes, you're right, fanon tropes and characterization can be different from canon without it being harmful or undermining, and people can still enjoy it, I wasn't trying to suggest they can't. I am also very bad at analysing or observing or gathering my thoughts pls don't hate me.
And yeah, I didn't think Plagg, the cheese loving goofball, would just straight up kill someone, but boy, Ephemeral sure did blow those doubts straight out the window. (I'm sorry I didn't remember that before I write this ask). He's also loves Adrien and cares a lot about him,as seen many, many times( Syren, Sandboy, NY special, Rocketeer and other episodes that I can't remember right now) but it kind of confuses me when in fics he's like just aloof and distant most of the time? Of course, not all the time, but he's so differently protrayed in fanon that I was just confused as to why that's so.
And as for Marichat fics, yeah the whole 'princess' nicknames and the nightly balcony visits and joking knight in shining armour comparisons and sweets and cookies are nice and adorable and all, but can get a little repetitive and a little boring for me after a while. That's not to say there aren't amazing, unique and beautiful Marichat fics that people love and enjoy, or that it's a bad ship or has bad takes and tropes.(there are and it's not and it doesn't!)
I don't know why I am rambling, I just wanted to make myself clear and I hope I did.
No you're good, you didn't bother me at all, you just got me thinking. I do think there's a tendency within the fandom for analysis blogs to establish themselves as at least somewhat credible (as credible as you can be on Tumblr) and then use that credibility as a way to preach their own views. I was moreso commenting on that, and that really does not apply to you whatsoever. Your ask didn't bother me in the slightest.
And we all forget about things sometimes; one time I made the claim that Adrien is the only character without a creative pursuit. I totally forgot that the boy plays piano. The great thing is, with less credibility comes fewer stakes.
Plagg is distant, I think, in that he never really opens up about his own emotions to Adrien. That doesn't mean he's unfeeling, and I do think you're right that fics maybe characterize him as more aloof than he really is, but it's to say -- when has Plagg ever sat down and talked about his own emotions with Adrien? His own fears and anxieties? The only time I can really think is Sandboy.
And yeah, Marichat... I have opinions over Marichat so I'm going to refrain from commenting on that here.
Feel free to ramble in my askbox any time, I love it :D

ooh spones?
Can do~! This is for TOS Spones since that’s the one I’m mostly invested in.
Tumblr media
when I started shipping it if I did: It’s REALLY weird. I started shipping it fairly early on... but I guess I didn’t fully commit or was in denial because there were multiple times I went ‘...OMG I think I ship them’. I know that by the time I finished the show and especially after watching All Our Yesterdays that I knew I had reached the point of no return. Over two months later and I’m still loving it~
my thoughts: They have such a great, multi-layered dynamic. If you didn’t know them, it’s se easy to think that they hate each other to the point that Bread and Circuses outright asked if they were enemies. The episode not only answere that question (no), but showed just how much they truly care for and understand each other in ways that even they seem surprised by. Spock breaks the rukes to save McCoy’s life, and McCoy effectivly tears down Spock’s denial of emotions like he knew him all his life. It’s like that throughout the entire series. They’re constantly with each other, seek the other out, and are very clealry concerned when the other is in distress. They’ll be bickering the one minute, then ready to ste up for each kther the next. Theres so much to their relationship and it took me by surprise how much there was since all I ever heard about was how amazing Spirk was (I love them too but it’s NOT the only relationship in the show and is majorly neglectful to McCoy’s importance to both lf them) and how McCoy and Spock argued all the time. Lesson here: watch the shlw and don’t listen to only what pop culture likes to remember. Otherwise, you may miss out on something spectacular.
What makes me happy about them: Pretty much what I said above. Honestly, they just feel so... complete to me. They balance each other out really well. They’re both intelligent men who put a hreat deal of care into what they do and they are so much more alike than they may ever want to admit. It feels so different than how they are with Kirk or anyone else. They’re very much equals and wherever they differ, the other fills the missing pieces. They’re like yin and yang, they are opposite, but one cannot exist without the other. They constrast yet compliment each other very well and they push each other in ways that no one else can. It’s just so good~
What makes me sad about them: Eventually, it’s gonna reach a sad end. Either Spock gets sent to AOS and McCkoy is left alone in his old age to wait until he dies, or McCoy dies before then from most likely natural causes and Spock is left alone until sent to AOS, where he’ll die a few short years later. Death happens but either way, they won’t be together in the end. If an afterlife exists in ST, hopefully they’ll be together again then...
things done in fanfic that annoys me: This isn’t just a fanfic thing. It annoys me when people protray McCoy as an unlikeable xenophobe and Spock an innocent angel who did nothing wrong. I get why and how some of McCoy’s jabs can be taken the wrong way to a modern audience that causes them to feel like Spock is being descriminated against. But it’s such a paper thin reading if them both as characters and of their relationship. McCoy can go too far, but he knows his boundaries, recognizes when he goes too far, and does his damnest to care for everyone, including and maybe especially Kirk and of course Spock. Spock was bullied and has faced horrible prejudice, but he himself holds prejudice against humanity and his logical mindset can make him come across as a cold-hearted jerk at times because he’s just not good at expressing himself emotionally. And yes, the two bicker to various extremes and have differing philosophical beliefs. It’s why they’re so essential to Kirk. But they ARE alike in many ways and frequently support and protect the other when it becomes jecessary. I highly doubt that McCoy knocked Spock out to kee him from being tortured in The Empath for no reason. That scene alone should cease any ‘Spock and McCoy hate each other’ arguments. I can’t force people to change their opinions and to an extent I do understand. I’m not even saying ship it, everyone has their own tastes. But I also wish that some would be a bit more willing to look a bit more in depth at the two and their dynamic because there’s so much more than what’s on the surface.
things I look for in fanfic: Eh, nothing in particular. As long as it’s mostly IC and has some nice shippy content as far as Spones fics go, I’m happy~
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: Kirk for either of them, or we just go with McSpirk XD
My happily ever after for them: Somehow they get reunited during AOS and remain together until they reapectivly pass. Or they die at the same time and are reunited in the plausible afterlife. But otherwise, I just want them to be happy together flr hkwever long they have. Oh and we pretend that Generations didn’t happen and Kirk is still there as well.
