I'm trying to be kinder to myself and accommodate my disabilities without shame. I grew up in a very "tough it out" family and that has unfortunately followed me to adulthood and I've not been very nice to myself.
I feel like I'm one of the first to tell folks to be kind to themselves or for not allowing themselves to take the accommodations that can make things easier on them but I don't do the same for myself.
Here are a few ways I have been kind to myself and some that I strive to achieve starting now:
Setting and maintaining solid boundaries.
Letting others know verbally how I am doing and being honest so that there are no guessing games. I don't always have the energy to be very expressive so verbal communication is my go-to. Sometimes I'll even text someone before we hang out to let them know I may not be as physically expressive but that they should believe me when I express something verbally. (That was funny, I'm having a good time, you're really funny, etc.)
I bought myself some of those earplugs that help dampen sound but don't cancel out the noise entirely.
Turning my phone on do not disturb or taking off my apple watch so that I don't feel the notifications.
Taking my medication regularly. Upping my discipline so that I can be my best self is a kindness I have all too often forgone.
Allowing myself to feel my emotions without labeling them as "good" or "bad" or "useful" or "useless". They are just emotions, in time we can process them but for now let's just feel them out first.
This is mostly just a lil blurb about irl Coin but I hope someone who reads this can recognize that they need to be kinder to themselves and will thus take action to do so.

I got a candle for Lady Aphrodite today :) It's in a pretty teacup with flowers engraved into it, the candle itself is rose tea cake scented. This is the first candle I've bought for her... I'm so excited... :)

Playing Pentiment was wild because you'd make choices that affect who lives and dies, certain characters futures, and long term town relationships, only to go on forums to read people complain that your choices don't matter because there were predetermined plot points

Why do people on this webbed site get mad when people reply to public posts on the reply to public posts site...?
I see it in the witch circles a lot, people saying things along the lines of "you came into a private conversation among friends and gave your opinion" no its not? Did you make the post private? Did you note it was private anywhere? Did you turn off replies or reblogs? Did you take any steps at all to actually make sure other people wouldn't interact with your post? Because if not you just, posted a post on the talking and reblogging site and then got mad at people for talking and reblogging.
I get annoyed with people with bad takes or in bad faith come at my posts but I also know that it's possible to happen on this platform. Did we just like collectively forget that? Or is this the twitter/tiktok culture that I'm not really aware of?

About Comfort Zone and why is wrong used - Long Rant
Lately I been seeing a ton of people talking about the Comfort Zone, about how we can only grow if we step out it and all that, but mostly everyone forget to mention a little detail: The majority of the people have no Comfort Zone.
Let's back to the roots and copy and paste what wikipedia say about it: A comfort zone is a familiar psychological state where people are at ease and (perceive they are) in control of their environment, experiencing low levels of anxiety and stress. Bardwick defines the term as "a behavioral state where a person operates in an anxiety-neutral position." Brené Brown describes it as "Where our uncertainty, scarcity and vulnerability are minimized—where we believe we'll have access to enough love, food, talent, time, admiration. Where we feel we have some control.
So, the basic "rules" of the Comfort Zone says:
A) People must at ease and in basic control of their environment.
B) People are experiencing low levels of anxiety and stress.
C) The uncertainty, scarcity and vulnerability are minimized.
D) With well access to the basic needs (food, water, shelter, health care, hygiene, money, love, education, clothes, sleep, security... Pretty much the 3 basic levels of the Maslow's hierarchy of needs)
Tumblr media
So, if you "fail" in some of the 4 basic "rules" of the Comfort Zone, you pretty much didn't have Comfort Zone.
Let's breal up that thing a little...
If you are not at ease (disconfort, anger, pain, sadness, uneasy, worried, etc), you are lacking Comfort Zone.
If you are not control of your environment (toxic/ traumatic house, abusive relationship, under manipulation, migration, homeless, disabled, etc), you are lacking Comfort Zone.
If you are experiencing high levels of anxiety and stress (pathologically high, unhealthy levels of it, panic attacks, floating anxiety, depression, PTSD, mostly all the mental illnesses), you are lacking Comfort Zone.
If you are uncertain, in scarcity and vulnerability (be part of a minority, experience racism, bullying, LGTBQIA+phobia, fatphobia, etc) and lacking some of the basic human needs, you are lacking Comfort Zone.
And if you are experiencing ALL OF THAT, you have NO Comfort Zone.
Now, let's have in mind the kind of world we are living currently... Many of us didn't have not even the basic level of the damn Maslow's pyramid and we have a "bingo" of a lack of all the 4 basic rules.. and the huge majority at least lack one of them... Why keep pushing about the Comfort Zone?
As a start, the main objetive of the Comfort Zone is self growth, things that are over the two basic layers of the damn pyramid. You NEED to have you BASIC NEEDS satisfied to focus in self growth. I'm not saying that you CAN'T pursue self growth if you are lacking them, but trully, your energy and mind have more urgent things to attend...
Example, myself. I lack of money and health care, I struggle with afford food and basic bills, I'm disabled and VERY neurodivergent, I suffer of Chronic Clinical Depression and Chronic Pain (with no meds and treatment because lol money) and I have problems to sleep, besides another huge chunck of issues. Do I try to grow as a person? OF COURSE! But I will not put myself on risk, for it. I need to grow in a way that I will not collapse because I haven't my basic needs covered. I DON'T HAVE COMFORT ZONE, so my growth must adapt to the little I can afford myself to do. I can't step over my Comfort Zone because I DIDN'T HAVE ONE TO START.
I repeat, you can't leave your Comfort Zone if you don't have it.
So, for the love of Maslow, people, stop to suggest to everyone to "step out the Comfort Zone" when, except some lucky ones (eat the rich), mostly of the normal people is struggling with not become homeless.
It feels invasive, like pushing us, and make us think that we are not growing enough and getting mentally better because we don't go out our "Comfort Zone". Feels like if you are drowing and some say "haha now try to swim with a shark and touch it, you will grow with that experience"... I'M DROWNING, I CAN'T BREATHE, I CAN'T EVEN OPEN MY EYES UNDER WATER, HOW I WILL TOUCH A SHARK?
Next time, be gently, be empathic. Self growth is great, but do it in a safe gentle way, that there are enough suddenly events in real life that will kick you out of your Comfort Zone by force, or even break your Comfort Zone, sometimes to the point that you will not have anything left.
Stop pushing, stop to add struggles when you are struggling every second of your life. Prioritize. You will have until the last second of your life to grow as a person, focus in your safety. Focus in create your Comfort Zone, in making it bigger, stronger. I want to see you happy, healthy and safe. I love you.
Edit: Someone also explain it amazingly here

This is mostly for Zutarians, but I guess it can be for anyone who wants to talk about this.
I have a theory that Zuko does not have any game whatsoever. He's too shy and dorky for that. However!
However...
I do believe he has rare moments of unexpected rizz.
Hear me out. It's the little dramatic lines of dialogue he has. Very rarely does this work and it's 101% never intentional, but when it works, it works.
Tell me I'm not the only one who thinks this.

3, 7, 12 and 20! polytheist asks >:D
Oh you want me to THINK? You want me to use my BRAIN??? You are EVIL Cheshi lol
3: Is your practice more ritualistic or casual? What does it look like?
Oh my practice is extremely casual. I always hated the strict religious upbringing I had. "You do it this way, or else!". Nah fam, that's not cool. Everyone is gonna have their own way to worship, have faith, and perform religion (Yes I believe religion is a performance, but that's for another time lol). Anyways, I don't generally do much in the way of ritual because that's so much fucking work. I prefer just kinda chilling with Nyx on the full moon and calling it a night lol.
7: What does your ideal altar look like?
Chaotic, unhinged, and personal. I don't need it to be set up perfectly or invoke certain vibes, unless trash fire goblin is a vibe lmao. I really just put whatever on my altar I think fits. Right now, unfortunately, my altar isn't exactly what I want, because I don't really have space and the last time I set up an altar, Goose knocked it over. She was a brand new baby then, but even so I'd rather play it safe. I have this great cabinet at my parents house I plan on repainting and using when we have a house of our own. Its a really great size, glass doors so I can see what's inside, and bonus: cat's won't break any glass bottles on my altar lol. Rn I just have this very cue little moon shelf about 3 inches wide on a windowsill.
12: How important is mythology in your practice? How much credit do you give it?
I mean, mythology is the sourcework of all of my beliefs. I wouldn't have found Nyx, Hekate, Athena, and Artemis without Greek mythology, Bast without Egyptian mythology, or Loki without Norse mythology. Do their stories have any bearing on my beliefs? Not really. Them being the deities of their respective realms is all I really need. I know Nyx as the night, Hekate as magic, Athena as wisdom and intelligence, Artemis as the protectress, Bast as the keeper of cats, and Loki as chaos. How I interact with them is more based on my needs, versus what they have "done" in the myths that survived. Myths aren't any bit literal, just like any other religious text. We as humans are always interpreting things based on our own preconceived notions, our own beliefs, and that's not always what the original source intended. In fact, I'd argue that any human interpretation of the divine is automatically wrong. No single human belief can 100% be accurate. We will all have our own ideas of how things work. I, as a singular person, should not put any undue influence on myths that I personally think are worth "more" just because they are considered to be valid religious texts (cough cough Christians and the Bible cough cough). Myths are stories. They're fun, its fun to imagine our deities in various human scenarios. But the Divine are much more complex than their myths. I give the myths the same level of credibility I would any other that indirectly influenced my way of viewing the world. I wouldn't be who I am without the sum of the things I've read and learned over the years.
20: List a few of the deities you worship and associate each with a quote you think represents them best!
Oh lordy, you're killin me with this one Chesh lol.
Nyx: "I see the moon and the moon sees me/Nyx bless the moon and Nyx bless me" (see what I did there lmao?)
Bast: Specifically the same noise my cat makes when shes singing in the mirror. That it that's the quote lol.
Athena: All that bullshit about "tomato is a fruit but you don't put it in a fruit salad" lol. Also "Ho don't do it... oh my god" for whenever I do something (even mildly) foolish lol
Loki: OKAY SO little bit of backstory here: when I was just getting into my paganism, I was in a really shitty spot in life, physically, mentally, you name it. I came up with this phrase to help get me through it, and I generally proclaimed that anything wrong in my life was because of Loki (AS A JOKE, THEY LOVED IT). The quote was: May the deity who looks upon me in disdain look upon you with favor. It got me through shit, still does, and I still love Loki, even if they aren't my main deity anymore.

I hate that there is this notion in the US that if you go to a doctor appointment and find that there’s nothing seriously wrong with you that it’s a waste of time.
I wish it was “Oh good! I’m glad you found that it’s nothing serious!”
And not “Wait so there’s nothing seriously wrong with you? Don’t you think you’re being dramatic?”
Like no, I’m not. I’ve had serious illnesses before and we’re literally in flu season with an uptick in covid and RSV and I have a shit immune system. Pardon me for wanting to make sure I didn’t have something serious.

Is it true that dieties will... ask you for specific offerings? I've seen a few videos about people's "conversations" with their dieties, like where they'll ask for/demand specific offerings and items on their altars. I was just wondering if this is true... and if so, how often does it happen?
When they're talking is it like a regular person's voice, is it just a feeling, or something else?...
