hai! i was tagged in a question thing by none other than @warioigottawin so now im gonna answer a few questions for the nice audience here tonight.

Fav color: well u see :3 i am violet... and, as it turns out, my favorite color, despite the rumors, is purple 💜

Currently reading: im still working on the bocchi manga :3 i havent gotten to it in a bit but with the new kessoku band songs i perhaps should return to it

Last song: um thi s is absolutely a spoiler for a certain set of summer songs but ive been listening to this band operation sodasteal a lot recently, and my last song is the opener, DESCENT2EARTH on their album slaney vs sodasteal. give it a listen. perhaps it will be a sound of the summer :3c

Last series: hmmmmm deciding how i want to answer this. the last thing i watched was some spongebob last night before bed, BUT the last series i finished in full is the third installment of an anime called Teekyuu. its allegedly about girls in their high school tennis club but thats debatable, theyre off doing completely different shit. its so fast paced, like each episode is only 2 minutes making each 12-episode season like half an hour. but its so fast with jokes and dialogue i have to pause and go back a lot. its a very silly anime :3 there are 9 seasons of this!

Last movie: Jack and Jill (2011) starring Adam Sandler next question

Sweet, spicy, or savory: hmmm sweet for sure out of these, bc a girl loves her yummy sweet treats, but i would choose sour over everything if it were here.

Craving: just some instant ramen with all my usual fixings sounds good tbh. im. quite hungry actually. maybe ill eat something when im done with this.

Tea vs. coffee: i always have a gut instinct to answer coffee bc im not really a fan of hot tea which is how i imagine the platonic ideal of Tea in my head u know? and i do love a good chocolate minty coffeey beverage... but if were going off volume of drink then its tea 100% bc i destroy arizona teas like theyre nothing to me. but trust me, they are my world.

Currently working on: ahahaaaa ohhh well uhh... :) just doin my violet thing.... yknow... searching for truth.. falling asleep atop flowery hills on sunny days.... noticing..... yeah just the usual stuff i usually do.

So sometimes i reaaaallly want to fill out ask memes and a few lovely wonderful friends send in numbers or emojis and its a lot of fun, but part of me is always like "why wait, just answer all of them unprompted, who is going to stop you? No one" So thats what im doing!

This is the list from Ask Game for Ships that i rb'd, and im filling it out for Heartbeat and Metron :3

Putting these under the cut since its going to be looong

1. What’s their love languages?

I want to say time for Metron bc he can travel to past, present and future, and he only spends time on things he deems important. But i think its more specific than that. I think its not one of the standard five. His love language would be mental focus. If he really cares about someone, they will grab his attention and he'll be actually conscious of them whether he likes it or not. But that happening is a rarity. Maybe it's never even happened at all.

Heartbeat's is physical touch. It's about being comfortable and at ease with someone. Its about feeling zero hesitation to let them into your personal space and vice versa. And its most potent for her when it comes so naturally she doesn't even notice shes been doing it.

2. Do they have a dynamic trope? (enemies to lovers, sunshine x grumpy, etc?)

Closest they have is mentor/protege i guess? Heartbeat isnt really his protege though, like shes not trying to follow in his footsteps or anything.

3. Who cooks? Who cleans up? Who’s banned from the kitchen?

Heartbeat doesn't cook bc she doesn't remember how, plus even if she did she doesnt know New Genesis ingredients. And Metron doesn't cook because he cant be bothered to, unless you count a superfood he concocted thats nutrient rich and makes it so he has to eat less often and can keep working on his projects uninterrupted.

4. What’s their favorite sleeping/cuddling positions?

They dont cuddle, but they do share a bed because Metron in his pragmatism figured his bed was big enough for both and then he wouldn't have to find her some other living situation. He quite literally does not care about sleeping next to each other. Its a non issue to him and he sees no intimacy in it. Meanwhile just laying next to Metron makes Heartbeat a ball of nervousness. She gets really aware of his presence. So not really their "favorite", but their typical sleeping position is next to each other but keeping to their own sides.

5. Who does what chores?

There arent really chores, but Metron has a few automated machines he's created to do menial tasks.

6. Do they go out often or prefer to stay indoors?

They go out all the time. Heartbeat gets tired of the lab almost immediately, so Metron takes her around with him to different planets and things so he can continue his work.

7. Who is the more romantic one?

Heartbeat 1000%. Metron is about as romantic as a lump of coal.

8. Do they have any favorite activities to do together?

Getting under each other's skin? When Orion first sees how they interact, hes surprised and delighted at how easily Heartbeat sass's Metron. He needed someone to keep him humble.

9. Baths or showers together? Do they like elaborate ones with bubbles and flower petals?

I dont know if they bathe together. I could see New Genesis having hot springs and not being hung up on separating by gender. But Metron isnt going to be talking any relaxing dips yknow? Hes got other stuff to do.

10. Who drives and who picks out the music?

Metron will absolutely not let Heartbeat control the Mobius Chair. She'll find a way to undermine him about it someday, but that's far in the future im sure. And hmm thats a good question.. does the chair play music? Maybe Heartbeat hums little melodies without really thinking about it, and Metron says it annoys him but i bet he actually finds it endearing.

11. What’s a song that describes their relationship? Or, what’s the song that they’ve deemed “their” song?

I still like the idea of Kiss From a Rose for them even though it makes no sense. Its about The Vibes. And there was some other song that fit their story kind of in a way? But i dont remember what it was.

12. Who gets up the earliest? Who has the worst sleep schedule? Who is the sleepiest?

Neither are sleep-in type people, but Metron really gets up early, so in comparison Heartbeat seems like the sleepy one. But every so often it catches up and Metron crashes.

13. What’s their opinions on PDA?

Both of them are like no thanks

14. Who does fashion shows after a mall trip and who watches and compliments them?

Okay but for real the next scene i have to write is Heartbeat coming out in her New Genesis clothes for the first time and Metron being like yeah whatever idc, which kind of disappoints her. But then on the way back to the lab hes like "it suits you" and like for Metron thats a pretty freaking nice compliment! And later, later in the story she'll have her speedster costume reveal too.

15. Do they go on vacations together? Where is their favorite place to visit?

Same answer to #6. But for favorite places, there is a galaxy that Metron especially likes. He finds a reason to show it to Heartbeat in the first week she's with him.

16. What’s their favorite “domestic bliss” moment? Do they cook/clean together? Do they like to go out shopping together?

They both like traveling in the Mobius Chair together, but Metron would never admit that even to himself, and Heartbeat won't admit it because it'll give Metron a big head.

17. What does a relaxing night in look like for them?

Heartbeat reads while the sounds of Metron tinkering in his lab faintly make their way to the library.

18. What does a date night out look like for them?

Lol no dates for them.

19. How do they silently/subtly express their love for each other?

By accepting each other. Metron is not an easy person to understand, and he is not very accommodating of others. So just the fact that they dont mind each others company is huge. Metron finds it curious that he doesnt seem to get tired of her, but he pushes the thought away quickly every time.

20. What clothes/accessories do they steal from each other?

None. Could you imagine Heartbeat wearing a onesie suit like Metron has?? 😂

21. Which of their friends/family pokes fun at them for them getting flustered/affectionate?

Highfather but subtly and in a good natured way. Lightray doesn't need to even say anything, he just gives a knowing look and a soft smile. I havent talked about it as much, but Wally's in this story too and when he sees them together hes more like "wtf" than he is poking fun lol.

22. How do they apologize after arguments?

When Heartbeat apologizes, it's after introspection and it's always very open and vulnerable, but deliberate and strong at the same time. IF Metron ever apologizes (he doesn't) the best she's going to get is him saying something uncharacteristically kind of nice. He says it quietly without fanfare and then quickly moves on. He doesnt like the vulnerability of it.

23. Do they like pick up lines?

Nah

24. What are their favorite places to kiss on their partner(s)? What are their favorite types of kisses?

Oh my god kissing is out of the question unless we're talking about the fic that id write about this fic. Like, there's all kinds of extra side story stuff i have in my head and yeah maybe things get steamy there but those arent necessarily in the canon of their story. And even for the parts that may be, it wouldn't be for a long time. Certainly not in the first big story arc.

But i mean now that you mention it. If Heartbeat kisses Metron someday way down the line, hes going to study her. He isnt going to hold her in his arms, he isn't going to kiss back, he isnt even going to close his eyes. And shes going to feel so awkward and stupid and annoyed at him. But she couldnt stand it anymore, she had to try it, she had to know what would happen. The whole thing ends up being just so uncomfortable. And the worst part is, it doesnt shake her desire to get closer to him, and she finds it all very maddening.

25. What is their dream home? Do they buy a place together? Who plans the decorations and who does the heavy lifting?

Heartbeat's dream home is the life she doesnt remember. And in all honesty, she builds it up in her head. Theres something about not knowing and having all this alluring potential that makes her think that yeah maybe she had this awesome life. Too bad in reality it was nothing special, but she doesn't know that yet.

And Metron already has his dream home. Everything he wants is here in Supertown, and anything more he needs can be acquired easily. But then one day Heartbeat offhandedly calls it home as well, and something about that shakes him. And he denies it even to himself, but deep down it made him happy. The idea that this is her home and that she would continue to stay brought him some odd foreign feeling of joy that panicked him. He doesn't like the feeling, and he immediately suppresses any further reaction.

26. Do they have any pets or kids?

Nope

27. Who would propose? What would their wedding be like?

Alright hear me out... Metron proposes.

Not out of love or romance, but because he knows that there are social pressures. He knows that he tolerates Heartbeat and even sometimes enjoys her company, and thats saying A LOT. It would be a union strictly for practicality, nothing more of course. Thats what hed say. And he figures itd keep other people out of his business.

28. What’s something that reminds them of their partner(s)? Do they have anything on them daily as a reminder (a photo, phone background, tattoo, clothing/accessory, etc)?

Nah they arent sentimental like that. At best, maybe Heartbeat sees a stick and the mud and goes "hey look its you"

29. What is something they can never agree on? How do they meet in the middle?

Everything? They never agree all the time? Lol thats not actually true. Despite their bickering they actually get along well and when it matters are often on the same page.

30. Free space! Say something about this ship that you want to say!

It's been a fun ship. And anytime someone out there has chatted with me or wow made art for it im like over the freaking moon. Idk why this is where my brain landed, but im in too deep lol.

Its a ship that has some dynamics im not really used to, its unexpected in that way. But its also a ship that has a few very personal familiarities. Not many, but not none. And the thing is, Heartbeat started out as some comic version of me but very quickly became her own thing. Its like watching a movie and identifying with the main character and experiencing the story through their eyes.. but theyre still not actually you, you know? So she is me but she definitely isnt.

And as for being a "ship", its so lopsided and far from the typical two-characters-in-love stuff. Sure unrequited love is a common trope but even that isnt precisely whats going on here. I think to put into words what their relationship is in terms of romantic (or sexual) ships would have to be its own rambling post that i dont have time for tonight.

But anyway, its been good to explore these two and their story. Every time i write one of these big posts about them, and every time i go back and re-read the fic so far, i feel better. I feel good. And maybe this should go without saying, but good is a good feeling.

i’ve had this thought rotting in my brain ever since mitski dropped The Land Is Inhospitable And So Are We so im gonna dump it onto tumblr but first of all

SPOILER WARNING FOR LAND OF THE LUSTROUS / HOUSEKI NO KUNI !!!! PLEASE READ THE MANGA <3

also i would like to add a second warning that this post may not make a lot of sense grammatically :3 currently am not lucid enough to make a lot of sense :3

i think that the song When Memories Snow can describe a lot of phos’ character arcs and their progression eerily well like if you were to make a phos animatic to this song it would line up so perfectly

okay first of all i would like to point out the general connection between this song and the gems. i have not analysed mitski’s song by itself, and so i dont know what she intended behind When Memories Snow, so maybe the “memories” could straight up be a metaphor for something and not actual memories but thats not what we’re gonna talk about rn !! we know that the gem’s memories are stored in the physical gem pieces themselves, so if they lose a body part they lose parts of their memories. phos has their whole thing with losing their body parts (and effectively their memories) and becoming a completely different person and all that good stuff

oki now the lyrics :3

“when memories snow // and cover up the driveway // i shovel all those memories // clear the path to drive to the store”

this gives me the vibes of post-winter phos after theyve lost antarc. the first two lines really remind me of whenever phos would just have random hallucinations of antarc’s death over and over again in the anime and the other two lines remind me of how they would basically have to just ignore the hallucinations and keep going on with their life. i would also like to add that while i do think that HNK is an amazing story and that the anime adaptation is honestly so perfect, i also think that there isnt a lot of focus on the fact that phos should not be able to remember jackshit ??? yknow ??? the way that canonical phos just keeps going on with life just kind of fits well with how nonchalant the line “clear the path to drive to the store” feels to me

“and when memories melt // i hear them in the drainpipe // drippin through the downspout // as i lie awake in the dark”

okay so i originally sent a bunch of my interpretations to a friend and i said that this part really fits with phos’ trauma with losing antarc. the way that these lines are phrased gives the vibes of when its late at night and youre tired but the clock is ticking too loudly and you just cant sleep. but now reading these lines again, i feel like it resonates more with how, once again, phos has lost like so many memories they cannot remember jackshit anymore. their memories have melted, but theyre still lingering and they still cling onto phos. a good example of this would be when phos wakes all the other gems up at the end of their hibernation and phos forgets who cinnabar is for a moment, the same cinnabar that was phos’ whole motivation for the first half of season 1. also the “as i lie awake in the dark” basically describes how phos refused to sleep during the second half of the season

ok verse 2 !!

“and if i break // could i go on break?

THIS IS THE MOST PHOSPHOPHYLLITE CODED LINE OF THE ENTIRE SONG !!! to me at least :3 not only does this line apply to them in a literal sense, with phos being the second weakest gem and them breaking a crazy amount of times throughout the whole series, “breaking” also applies to them in a mental sense. i get two different images when i think of this line, the first one being that one scene in the anime (and manga too? maybe? idk its been a while :() where phos is thinking about kongo and the lunarians and everything and they start cracking and their alloy just explodes out of them. i think thats the closest to a mental breakdown a gem has ever experienced at that point. the second image i get is when,,, phos becomes like,,, yk phos’ shattered / monster form whatever you call it,,, thats what i think of

“be back in my room // writing speeches in my head”

i think this goes back all the way to pre-trauma phos. “writing speeches in my head” could represent their encyclopaedia job?? but i think its a better metaphor for their want to join in with the other gems in fighting the lunarians. part of them knows it’ll never happen, so they resort to daydreaming about what it would be like

“listenin’ to the thousand hands // that clap for me in the dark”

connecting with my last point, they want the feeling of accomplishment and the general coolness of being able to fight and they want the praise from kongo and the other gems.

also this image doesnt connect very well, but i think of the god-like phos form when i think of these last two lines. this is the only time in the series where everyone finally has to depend on phos for once, and phos isnt deemed as ‘useless’ or a problem. of course the context is super tragic but idk just a thought

okay so. im like. idk ANY music theory. like. at all apart from when i played the piano for a couple years when i was like 7. so. this is definitely the ramblings of a guy who is being very autistic about bug video game. and nothing more. (and also has been done before i am purely doing this for @exnihilo-comic bc they asked me on my thoughts) BUT. i am sooooo fucking insane about the hollow knight ost. (LONGGGG post below the cut)

SO LIKE. theres OBVIOSULY the like. main theme yknow. thats in enter hallownest and the title screen song. the one that goes likeeee errr. (wait i gotta look up smth rq)

OKAY SO THERES THIS. (just taken from here) :

WHICH is like. yknow. the whole Big leitmotif of. Everything. BUT. the thing is. i was wondering which songs specifically it is in. bc like. im hoping its not just. hallownest’s motif. and more for smth specifically. BUT YEA. so so far theres obviously the title screen and enter hallownest (which is the trailer music im p sure ?)(ok yea it was the ferocious foes trailer music). BUT. im gonna go thru all the songs n see which ones have this in (i will not be accurate as im going by ear since errrrr. im not the best at reading sheet music)

okay well dirtmouth (taken from here) IMMEDIATELY has the theme in it (with the bit in red missing)

it is clearly slower n in a dif key but like. the same theme

and pretty much most of the melody of dirtmouth is like. essentially this same theme. just a loaddd slower. and in a dif key. im not gonna screenshot each comparison and try to pinpoint each difference bc. like ive said, idk music theory. i just like video game osts.

okay so crossroads is a little more difficult but to me it sounds like it possibly has the same chord progression ? but i may be speaking out my arse so someone who actually knows what theyre talking abt could draw comparisons.

altho i DO want to talk abt the crossroads track. this is the part where i start bullshitting FULLY. so like smth i LOVE abt it is how very drawn out each note is. like it sets the scene of hk PERFECTLY. its like. the track feels a lot more loose ? i suppose ? than the other songs you wouldve heard by now. which ig feels like it rlly shows how sorta. abandoned and like. i mean “forgotten” the “forgotten” crossroads rlly r. like they have no sorta form left but its clear that crossroads was once a place w a lot more life in it besides the handful of npcs u meet there (well like. yknow. uninfected life). but the one thing abt the crossroads track is that it sounds. calm yknow. which does reflect the crossroads compared 2 the other locations. the enemies there r simple enough to defeat and theres plenty of safe spots. its right under dirtmouth so its (before its infected) the safest area a player will explore for a whileeee. anyways ye the crossroads track is cool.

okay w the false knight battle theme i wasnt RLLY gonna say anything abt it BUT. it does actually have the main theme in it.

sooo yea so far the only connection ive made is Almost Every Song Has This Theme In It.

oh also in the false knight theme there is this ONE bit that sounded a little like the very beginning of the mantis lords theme to me but idk theyre not the CLOSEST just similar.

anyways next song: greenpath. so i THINK its happened again and THE WHOLE BIG LEITMOTIF IS ONCE AGAIN HERE.

like dirtmouth it is slower and in a different key but thats definitely it. which honestly was unexpected i didnt think it was in any area music. so once again, i think this is in literally almost EVERY track so thats making me more wonder abt the tracks its NOT in. but ill come to that later maybe. what i do want to know is if theres anything else in greenpaths track thats in another song. what im thinking is perhaps therell be a similarity between greenpath and hornets battle music ?

okay this sorta call and response thing here is interesting to me because it sounds veryyyy familiar to me. (everytime i have heard it tho it just sounds like either hornets voice at some point or when sly says gibolen mas sooo take this as u will. i am however listening 2 a couple of hornets lines and the closest i think there is is when she says la fe nuva nido or whatever that gibberish is) anyways the call and response interests me.

anyways more abt greenpaths song in general terms, i do love how this one feels a lot more full of life than crossroads, because crossroads felt very barren w the blue and the brick(?) whereas greenpath is full of life, just in the sense of scenery. its (obviously) a lot greener and full of plant life which already feels loads more alive. and the enemies there also arent simply just husks (AND EVIL SAP MONSTERS) theres like. theres moss creatures and fucking squits and those shooty wall things and just a whole lot more life, and that is reflected very well in the track bc it sounds a lot more full and like it has actual emotion. and even the battle theme (like where u fight the moss knight) is a lotttt more emotional and tense than crossroads’ - which feels a lot more like just sorta. primal fear what with a beat that sounds almost like a heartbeat and the repetitive drums. but greenpaths battle theme is a LOT more lively and dance-like and it has DEPTH. idk i thinkkk im rambling a little but i do love greenpaths contrast with crossroads

OKAY. hornets battle theme. smth obviously noticed a lot before is her theme is comprised of only string instruments (yknow bc. shes a spider n uses a needle and will star in SILKsong so like. yeah. string) ONCE AGAIN. the main motif is in this song surprise surprise. (link)

altho smth interesting abt it is how it changes depending on which half of the theme is playing. for the first half the er. whatever u call the top bit i forgot. is playing it (and im prettyyy sure its a violin or viola or smth similar). but then it switches to the er. bottom line. and is played by a perhaps cello ??? smth lower than the first instrument. and different. which i think is a nice little thing AND is similar to the call and response from greenpath.

thats p much all i can say in terms of “technical” stuff BUT. in terms of vibes. I love how perfect this is for hornets fight. it definitely reflects how shes a lot more agile than the false knight and depends less on pure strength and more on her movement in the arena. i love how very fast paced it is AND HOW HAPPY IT IS. it is a VERY happy piece because hornet is ENJOYING HERSELF. bc yes her and ghost r fighting but she never wants to HURT it (even if i DIED to her like. a million times.) and WE never hurt her, we just beat her (and if ur a speedrunner, bully her in a corner) but she laughs during the fight, she has silly little battle cries, shes having a FUN TIME. which is shown in the music bc its CONSISTENTLY HAPPY. also the very sharp and sorta staccato (see i know SOME music terminology) notes throughout r veryyy fitting for the fights pacing and hornets attacks.

Okay this has been sitting in mt drafts for a bit and idk i might rb w add ons but j think i was just on smth else that night bc ive never been like. In the Mindset(tm) to do more of this. Ok. Have fun exnihilo person. Yea.

hiiiii tysm for these! gonna talk about my ocs from kitchen magic, the game im planning on developing in the probably far future <3 my hands are freezing cold woe

sorry for nerd moment this will happen again. so yknow how the whole point in shadow the hedgehog (2005) is choosing between the paths of evil, good, and neutrality? luckily my three characters from kitchen magic (sasha, sunny, and dekota) pretty much represent this concept. sasha is very much true neutral. he doesnt have much care for the rules, and he only cares about making sure himself and his friends are safe and sound. sunny and dekota are like the angel and devil on his shoulders. sunny is a human who very very much follows the rules and does what she's told. is it because she truly believes in those rules, or because she's scared of failing the people around her? who knows! i havent developed her that much. but she's very lawful good. this is a good time to mention i have played dnd exactly once, so i dont know if im using the moral alignments perfectly . its fine. dekota is very much. chaotic. no clue if good neutral evil. but he sure as hell is chaotic! he's the magic law enforcer, adored by all his people, seen as very powerful. in reality he's only strong because he abuses magic, uses forbidden curses and spells, and even summons demons banned by the magistrate, all for his own benefit and no one else's. he'll even use his own people to get what he wants. he's the definition of a "the end justifies the means" person. WOW THAT TURNED OUT TO BE SUPER LONG hope any of this made sense.

2. HEHEHE I LOVED THIS QUESTION SO MUCH I MADE A QUICK DOODLE FOR IT

ive drawn sunny being a sonic the hedgehog fan too much for it to not be canon. good lord. anyway she would choose All Hail Shadow by crush40. fun fact since the very moment this ask was sent (over an hour ago) ive been listening on repeat to this song, to see if i myself could handle it. came to two conclusions. 1. this song slays absolute penis but i dont think i could last 24 hours. sunny definitely could. 2. the original version by magna-fi sucks. sorry.

unfortunately i dont have a good answer for any other characters. i could Maybe say. one of the songs from the album Avatar Country by the band Avatar for dekota. since its a very very him album. but thats about it. so instead ill leave you with this fun fact. when i was 12 i listened to fall out boy's immortals on repeat for 4 hours straight without noticing becuz it just became background noise at some point. sometimes i can still hear them.

The song sort of presents like an uncontrollable creature of the dark, starving, hungry, confused, living off of primal instinct. And yknow what !!! Masky/ Tim core !!

Those lyrics give off that sort of desperate, confused, scared, uncontrolled feeling that I imagine Tim feels. Not knowing where Tim starts and where Masky ends, not knowing if there is an end, or even a separation of the two. "I hover two centimeters over your body." Gives off the perspective of Masky dragging people into his acts, and all of the people Tim blames himself for hurting (Jay, Brian, Alex, Sarah, Jessica, Seth, etc.).

I think the next line "Im dripping with dementia you can not believe." Is like a perfect way to explain that fear i mentioned in the first paragraph, that fear of Tim losing himself or even finding too much of himself. That dull ache inside of him, telling him to let it take control, unsure of how to stop it, unsure if thats part of him or the operator. Hes his own sleep paralysis demon, his own night terror, his own monster under the bed, but he still cant tell if its actually him or not. Like dementia, forgetting his actions, or rather Maskys actions and only finding remnants of previous events, having to piece together a puzzle with multiple missing parts, dementia-like suffering paining his body.

"Im excited and not in a good way." Anxiety, clearly. Fear, deep fear, a fear so hand-shaking it nearly presents itself as excitement, and maybe for the creature inside of Tim it is. These constant conflicting feelings inside of him from a persona he cant even remember the actions of fighting to be freed from the poor headaching man it lives in.

"Im steadily spinning. Im spinning. Im spinning. Way too slow for you to perceive." I think this line can allude to a lot. Tims slow-fast decline as things got worse while working on set, his deteriorating mental state, the thing inside of him clawing its way out as Jay keeps pushing further into the story. I dont think anyone really noticed his pain, and for a while nobody knew Tim = Masky, so that line can easily allude to that. Another thing it can allude to is Tims past and his ever growing urges that reside in him still. Nobody knowing a thing about him or his childhood, but it all slowly unravels itself for everyone to see, but nobody noticed right? They all just thought he was another cast member victim to this whole thing. He was just another unfortunate member right? Yes he was but hes had a past with the operator hidden for a long time, and when it revealed itself it went unnoticed for too long, until it was too late.

Maybe ill do more of this kinda stuff some time if i feel like it but right neow the melatonins kicking my ass and i have GOT to zonk out.

I adore lavender in pretty much anything. My family are absolute freaks when it comes to how much tea we consume so we order several flowers and herbs in bulk, lavender being one of them and i make lavender syrup all the time when im home. It’s rlly tasty in coffee, but has a reputation of its own for being the east coast gay drink lmao, and is often overpriced. i live within walking disatance from four local coffee shops so im a bit spoiled lmao!!

my day’s been good, i woke up at like noon as most weekends start for me, i have some observation hw to start on (i have plenty of time tho.) but im pretty excited since i adore the professor im taking observation II from and he is nice enough to allow me to use color in all my assignments <3 Usually ur supposed to just do b/w charcoal but thats so fucking boring oh my god and this professor is a huge fan of my color work so he knows how much a chore b/w is for me. I’m thinkin of maybe drawing my hrt? idk i have to think abt it but i thought it would be fun.

as for music, on my way up to college on tuesday dad and i listened to the one pansy division cd we have like 3 times in a row and i havent rlly gotten over it yet and have been listening to their cover of liz phair’s ‘flower’ on repeat ever since. im honestly surpised we dont own more pansy division, my dad’s seen them a few times and theyre on one of his fave labels (lookout!) so it’s kinda odd we only have the one cd. but yknow, streaming is a thing, im just a snob and like physicals a bit more. I’ve been scouring bandcamp as usual for more twee and have been rlly digging a band called the harriets from osaka i believe, who have all of three songs out but i really like. I also bought a few of the max levine ensamble’s albums on bandcamp, theyre available on streaming but bandcamp doesnt have the sound limits other streaming services have and that band is best heard LOUD thru headphones. (i think some bands sound better when u can barely discern the sound LMAO) Theyre a pop punk band from dc that i started listening too exclusivly bc one of their members (spoonboy) is genderqueer and i wanted to hear more genderfuck type music. (tho pansy division is fufilling my every need for more songs abt gay male femmes rn oh my god. Listen 2 their cover of femme fatele, it makes me grin so hard. ) I’m on an honest search for queercore thats not like. how do i describe it? like neo-hardcore? like yknow, the very harsh and almost electronic hardcore thats popular rn but doesnt totally resemble older hardcore. I found a few bands i liked (DUMP HIM is pretty good, i also like yonic boom, which i searched for hours to make sure they weren’t terfs and can confirm they have at least one trans member if that helps a little👍) i also have learned that trying to find music that isnt hyperpop or death metal in the transcore tags on bandcamp is pretty impossible, tho i keep trying! what can i say, im a dude driven by horrible production quality, lts wild to me how polished some hardcore sounds nowadays when the main reason i like it is bc its grainy and harsh and hard to listen to. My love for twee but disdain for modern indie follows suit with that, if it doesnt sound like it was recorded on a budget of one dollar i dont want it!!! (with a few exceptions, i still cant shake my power pop infused childhood.) oh god that last paragraph is probably unreadable but yknow. autism

youre so right about narration!! i could go on all day really, its the biggest thing for me that takes a fic from good to great, especially with characters like j- characters with a persona of sorts, characters that lie to themselves or are in denial, or characters with a lot they need to sort through, and j is sort of all three in some capacity. i cannot wait for hostile takeover to update! if you ever decide to try writing a fic id love to give it a read! ive noticed you have a lot of interesting ideas about characters and their dynamics through your fanart, something i think could translate to writing well. you also clearly have an understanding of what makes a fic good- though i know from experience its often easier said than done. still, id love to see you try! this is actually my first time rp-ing canon characters, ever. right now im playing j (thanks hostile takeover) in a discord server, though i might try n soon because i reaaallly struggle with characterizing him. ive been roleplaying my whole life really! i started with roblox warrior cats though... im shuddering with you id kill for more dollxn art from you though. no pressure but you get them it seems. its been a while since i listened to final girl but its definitely their song suggestive lyrics or not i hope they die and go to robo-hell together <3 - juzi anon

I've read alotta fics in my time on the internet and honestly? I don't think I've ever read a fic that hooked me on a character narration quite like Hostile Takeover's J. J's awareness of every part of what shes doing and how shes doing it makes it even more subtle when you realize that despite all of that, she has so little awareness over what she thinks. Like she doesn't question it. Uzi's narration makes a point to show how she censors her own thoughts, she doesn't allow her mind to wander to certain parts of the past, shes completely aware of how some thoughts sound and decides against saying it all together. Meanwhile, J will go on and on about how much better the job would be without V's constant talking back and N's inability to do anything right, and in the same paragraph be constantly thinking about the argument with V, and what got V so messed up to begin with. J is like a rock, a precipice of confidence. But the moments where she doesn't know what to do, (like when she thought she was going to die in that church tower from the rising sun) its almost like she has to put on appearances even in a moment where shes completely panic-ed, that she still somehow has to pretend she knows what shes doing, even with no one around. Its why the fic made me rethink J in general, I've loved J for while but Hostile Takeover was the first time I actually was able to SEE what J could be as a character story. It really puts into perspective how important narration can be in telling a damn good story. (Sorry this became a J paragraph. I could analyze fics for the rest of my life and be happy lol)

Haha maybe one day I'll finally sit down and write. I'm not really the greatest at translating my thoughts to text, for some reason its easier for me to illustrate my feelings about a character then to write it out. The only reason I can draw fanart like that is because I analyze these characters to death lol. Looking at all the angles of two characters and then asking the question of 'what would it take for them to be on friendly terms' is a pass time I indulge it frequently!!!! Thats why I like rarepairs, sometimes they're dynamics are alot more unique than most, even if they're 2 characters that have never once canonically interacted (which is my favorite. Alot more creative thinking with that one yknow?) Still, maybe I'll get to it :O (prolly would practice writing analysis post first. because I always have to stop myself from doing it on other posts XP)

I've also grew up on roleplaying (my brother is into roleplaying and that got me started on it lol) used to roleplay on roblox even before I could read (which. isn't a joke actually. who gives a 5 year old unrestricted internet access???) funnily enough I can't even say I ever completely grew out of it, I still visit alot of roleplay maps on roblox (including WCUE!! never actually roleplayed there but I think its fun to spec) but mainly I used to roleplay on animal-based mmos like FeralHeart in my younger days.

Iffff,,, I could say anything about N's character,,, to hopefully help inspire some ability to write him (and sorry this gets its own paragraph) I would probably say that he is a very self-destructively selfless person, whos never gotten over anything or anyone in his life (I.e when V was in stasis during their time in the manor, N constantly visited her and would draw pictures of the two of them together ((as lizards)) and is kinda implied to have been reading books to her during this time. Even after getting 'digitally lobotomized', while N couldn't exactly remember V as he knew her back then, he still carried that affection he had for her all that time ago. He never stopped caring about V, even when he forgot) while I wouldn't describe N as in anyway 'innocent' or 'naive', N still has a habit of unconditionally caring about pretty much anybody lol. He had like, what, a 27 minute conversation with Uzi? And while it wasn't enough to completely convince him, it still was something that made him hesitate ("I really enjoyed our time together,"). And while I'm here (having mentioned Uzi) I would also say N is a very lonely character, seeing as he was often belittled by his peers (J) or in some cases completely ignored (V, but she had her reasons and thats a different discussion) a funny part of N's character is just how much he IS like Uzi. A person completely isolated by his kind because of how he is, who was never given an explanation as to why, why everyone is so oddly cruel to him. The biggest difference though being that N never fought it, he completely accepted getting knocked around if it meant he could stick around. It took someone else to point out how fucked his situation was to make him think twice about it. Uzi is the type of character to go down kicking screaming and punching(asterisk but thats also a different discussion), and N, despite being in such a similar place to her, isn't that kind of guy. While I wouldn't say N is the type to take everything lying down, there is something to say about just how much he is willing to take before getting angry, yknow? Overall, I think N is a very loving, loyal-to-a-fault, kinda guy, but his compassion for those around him is often times the reason he gets so tunnel-visioned in the first place (i.e causing explosions and throwing rocks and debris everywhere in a mass, angry panic, trying to go save V.) and its why he is so willing to get himself hurt in the first place. ("I really enjoyed our time together, but I can't have you shooting V with that thing.") (Or yknow, cutting his arm off, but thats alot less selfless-ness and alot more self destruction) His patience and understanding is one of his biggest strengths and somehow always the reason he gets hurt. Basically I think he need to go a lil insane as a treat.

((Oh its also good to note that his unconditional love for everyone around him is also the only reason why he has lived this far to begin with (the characters this includes: V, Uzi, AND Cyn.)))

I also think the above, is the reason why I enjoy NxDoll so much. it takes SO MUCH for him to hate someone and yet Doll did the one thing that would make him do it (hurting someone he cares about the most). I just knoooowwww if they saw eachother in that church it would've been ON. That fight would've taken out the whole god damn BUILDING. it would be two people fighting for the exact same fkcing reason!!! REVENGE!!! the horrible chain of trauma contuines with them!!! killing one will only leave the other with what remains!!!! And yet I also see them as two people who would really benefit from being on friendlier terms. Both becasue N's softness is just not something we ever see Doll treated with, and because Doll's avocation for justice might just be the thing N needs to get a god damn backbone for once and earn himself some self-appreciation.

But I also think its more fun when its enemies AND lovers.

They should make eachother worse <3

Is kagepro an anime? I wanna get into the series but I don’t know where to start (and honestly all i know about it is the stuff that you post, shout out to that white hair malewife and black hair girlboss you always post about)

GOD OK UM SO kagepro is really one of those things that are. just messy.

this is my pinned, so i’m putting it under read more!

What is kagerou project, should i get into it, how do i get into it?........... let me tell you about it!

originally? it started as vocaloid series, as in a story told thrusongs, then it had a manga adaptation, anime and novels. they all vary a lil bit with consistency tho tell the same story. and that is because… each media represents a “route” the characters go through. yep. it’s a “time reset” kinda story! kagepro its what i like to call a clump story. just a bunch of stories put together. u take longer delving into each character's backstory rather than the actual main plot ig?? like, knowing everyone's backgrounds Builds the present story. it is difficult to explain 1 thing without explaining another and so on..

if you want to start somewhere I recommend listening to the songs in order, many have very cool music videos also the songs are VERY VERY GOOD.

the manga i recommend up until volume 4 chapter 18. after that it gets TOO confusing because it goes into a route thats only explored in this adaptation, while its kinda important if u REALLY wanna jump into the world of kagepro, it is VERY VERY confusing at first, like a LOT happens and differs significantly from the regular routes(and as an old fan i really was not into it that much but that’s aside the point) but the manga in the first 4 volumes at least puts the beginning more in perspective

and only then id recommend watching the anime cuz without all this the anime is VERY confusing lol the novels are good but theyre wholeass BOOKS yknow. there are 8 so it is not beginner friendly if u rly dont wanna tap into it lol even some seasoned fans haven't read them. that’s my casual kagepro fan guide. but.....

but if in the end u rly become interested and u end up reading them... hey, ur here already, and i know i told u not to finish the manga but if u just read 8 light novels i guess ur ok with reading 9 more volumes of manga!!!! and then... i’d watch the anime? because the anime, believe it or not, as shitty and as ugly as it is... possesses the GOOD ending. and bc u read 8 novels, 13 manga volumes and listened to like 5 song albums, u can watch and actually know what’s going on and u are very happy at the end bc after ALL THAT u get to see the good ending.

BY THE WAY AS FOR THE PLOT... as i said, a clump story. kagerou project isn't only difficult to understand when it comes to all its different medias, the story ITSELF is as convoluted as it comes! hurray! but the basics is, shintaro kisaragi is a shut in ever since his hs best friend ayano tateyama committed suicide. he goes out for the first time in 2 years and runs into some funny quirky people who might've been involved in ayano's life, who in return was involved in fun quirky sci-fi shit about..wow? superpowers?! maybe her suicide wasnt driven by depression but by....(SPOILER CUT)? or was it? join shintaros man angst as he learns about everything ayano left behind! you'll cry! its a REALLY sad story! with lovely characters such as:

kido kano and seto! ayano's little siblings! kido is the leader. of what? good question! kano is gay and hates shintaros guts. seto? he has jobs and better things to do. he likes dogs.

momo! shintaros little sister! she is.. a famous idol?! and... DEPRESSED?!

mary! token cute character who is...relevant to the plot!? and even...A PLOT POINT!?!

hibiya! a 12 year old who ended up here for some reason! also equally as important depending on the route, his best friend hiyori! dont worry about it.

konoha! we dont know who this guy is. well. we do. but thats a spoiler so dont tell!!!!

Notes:i honestly just pulled this together from nothing so this could be terrible lol

Hank does not think about the past sometimes, because in his mind its not really important and unintentionally blocks out memories from before the boombox incident. It did come to a surprise when he died once again and have a memory he blocked out flash before his eyes like a movie in a empty theatre.

Himself in his early adult years with a grunt with a face he does not recognize, yet so very familiar. The 2 sit together with a mp3 player in the other grunts hand on a cliffside "what song did you say again?" They said with a voice like silk, he vaguely remembered his younger selfs stomach twist and turn when they was around. The younger hank answered the grunt in asl with a single hand "favorite" "my favorite song? You sure about that hank? You know my tastes are kinda...out there" the grunt smiled, it was bright enough to light up a darkened city. Younger hank hummed and nodded in response to their question and the other shrugged their shoulders "alright. If you say so" and proceeded to play a song on the old mp3.

The moment the song started hank recognized it, it was something he had not heard in a long time...he always tried to remember why it was so important to him.

The grunt hums and stands up from the cliff edge, keeping their distance as to not fall down the steep cliff and taps their foot to the beat "yknow i always wondered how we ended up together like this" they spoke over the music, receiving a raised eyebrow from younger hank "as in like. Im chatty and your mostly mute, your a little chaotic and im the goody to shoes kinda person" they list out in a casual tone "i figured you wouldn't find company in someone like me of all people" they finished, younger hank shrugs their shoulders still not looking away from the grunt standing before him "i always thought you understood, that you don't judge, you make me happy, and you keep me sane" the younger hank signed with both hands. The grunt smiled "thats what i like about you hank, your honest" with a small tint of pink on their face they went back to humming.

Hank never remembered being that open with anyone, not even with sanford or deimos.

"Hey" the grunt spoke again "wanna dance?" They asked out of the blue, the younger hank stared for a few seconds before signing "i dont dance" "neither do i but its not stopping me" the grunt replied in a joke "cmon it'll be fun" continued the grunt "s/o i dont want to dance" the younger hank protests, his face growing pink. "Fine fine" the grunt replied, not wanting to force him into something he doesnt wanna do "but you owe me a dance someday" the grunt claimed with determination in their eyes. As the song fades to silence the younger hank answered them with their voice instead of asl "deal" his voice sounded much different then what it is now, less broken, more normal sounding.

The name s/o rings in hanks ears like a bell, the name was so familiar, along with their face, even the way they talk. Hank had blocked out these memories for so long its difficult to remember even if he tried. Like a massive wave of amnesia happened the same day as the boombox incident.

....

Moments later hank woke up, back in one piece, breathing, and heart beating. He was once again revived. Going back to his job once again like nothing had happened, deciding the memory he just saw was only a strange dream. Yet this time he never blocked out that memory, his mind suddenly drifting to it in quiet settings. He felt something in his chest when he thinks about it, regret maybe? He forgot what that emotion felt a long time ago.

He wondered what could have been if he did dance with s/o like he promised those years ago...
