ugh I reallllyyyyy didn’t want to get in on this but like
The assumption that all atheists are people who’ve “never touched a religious text in their life” basically says to me you have a specific view of atheists and have probably not known many.
Most of them grew up IN the system and DO know the text and THAT’S why they walk away.
If you’re gonna make a whole post on ppl not using nuance with CR stuff right now the least you can do is use nuance yourself and not paint an entire group of people with a brush that TV taught you, or a bunch of white men into power *cough* Dawkins *cough* coopted a movement in a society where to not believe in god is synonymous with being immoral.
So just keep in mind, the representation of people without faith that you see on TV or twitter isn’t the majority and 9 times out of 10 isn’t correct at all.
thanks ^_^

You yawned, moving through the crowded party. Sighing, you tried looking for your roommate, Mina Ashido. You must admit, you already have had a couple of drinks so you were pretty buzzed, walking around all the flashing lights didn't make your mind feel any more at ease.
"Y/n?~" a voice asked you. It was a feminine voice, a voice you knew way too well.
You turned around to see your roommate. She looked drunk off her ass. Her hair was frizzing up, her shirt covered in alcohol, and her eyes barely open. You shook your head, snapping a picture of her to show her in the morning.
You giggled, watching her stumble into your arms.
"Mina, are you ready to go home?" you asked, only a bit concerned for her well-being. She can get a little crazy at parties
"Y/n~ Noooooo, I don't wanna go home yet~ *hic* Plus you still haven't even met my *hic* friends~" she slurred, furrowing her eyebrows.
The whole reason you were at the party is to meet Mina's 'Out of town' friends. Oh, trust me, you've met her main group, sleeping with all of them whenever you feel like it. You couldn't help yourself! You regularly call Bakugou over to fuck you whenever you want him to, but that's a whole different story.
"Mina? Oh! Mina! There you are," a familiar face said, sighing in relief. The familiar face was none other than Shoto Todoroki, you've met him a few times, he didn't go to your university. Not to say that you two fucked or anything but you guys definitely did some hand stuff not too long ago.
Shoto is from a Christian school, he doesn't believe in the ways of God but he is forced to go. Every weekend he comes to your university's parties to disobey his father and obey his own beliefs. He is an atheist, not caring for religions, you can say the same thing.
"Aw, Shoto! I didn't know you were here," you teased, giving the boy a tight hug. You adored his sensitive reactions to your slightest touch. He hugged you back.
"I didn't see you here, glad to know you're here though," he smiled, holding on to your waist. Was he being more bold today? You rolled your eyes, taking his hands away from your waist, the only thing on your mind was making sure Mina got home safely. You shouldn't get distracted by Shoto's charms.
"Where's *hic* Zu... Zuku... And Chako?" Mina cried, shaking Shoto's shoulders. Shoto looked at your calm face, pausing his train of thought before turning back to Mina.
"He's upstairs, he needed some air. You know how he gets around crowded places. And Ochako is with Jirou and Hagakure," Shoto replied, shrugging.
Mina shook her head, too dazed to say anything to Shoto.
"Zuku?" you questioned. You were unfamiliar with the name. You knew Ochako, only due to her relations with your girl friends.
"Izuku," Shoto corrected. "He's a friend of ours from my school, could you go and grab him? I think he's ready to go home, he doesn't do so well around big crowds. I'll try and get Mina out of the house too, she looks really... Not well..." he muttered.
Mina whined, protesting against him. Of course she wanted to stay but she needed to leave, she was well over being blacked out.
"Don't make us call Sero, you know he will whoop your ass," you commented, sternly.
Mina shut her mouth, quickly. "Yes ma'am," She was ready to comply with whatever you guys said.
"He's in the last room down the hallway," Shoto explained, picking up Mina. He tossed her over his shoulder, trying to get through the crowd.
You nodded. All you have to do is grab Shoto's friend, you trust Shoto enough to leave him with Mina. You know he'd never do anything to make a woman uncomfortable, ever.
You made your way upstairs. The bass of the music made the entire house shake. You were surprised the party hadn't gotten a noise complaint yet. Moans and groans filled the hallway you walked through, horny adults probably filled every single room available for access. You made a mental note to call Bakugou over tonight for some fun.
Eventually you reached the last door of the hallway. Slowly, you opened the wooden door. The room seemed empty from the looks of it, you decided to look around. A huge bed was in the middle of the room, furniture organized around. The room did have a nice color pallet, white and gold. The two colors that embody purity, you loved them.
"Izuku?" you called out, exploring the dim lighted room.
The door to the balcony opened, stepping into the room with you was a fluffy green haired boy. The darkness of the room was hard to really see any features of him. The moonlight from outside did let you see the little freckles displayed on his face though.
"U-um... Who... Are you?" the male asked, shutting the door behind him quickly.
"Are you Izuku?" you asked, wondering if you might have gotten the wrong room.
The boy nodded his head.
"Oh, Shoto wanted me to come and grab you," you conversed. You walked over to a bedside table, turning on the lamp that was on it. You didn't really enjoy being in the dark. Once you turned around you finally saw the man you were speaking too. His eyes averted from your figure, you were in a proactive outfit that showed all of your natural curves. He wore a regular shirt and jeans but what had your full attention was the silver cross that dangled from him neck. One word... Innocence.
A sinister smirk appeared on your lips. "Or we can stay here and get to know each other," you suggested, shrugging. You sat on the bed, waiting for Izuku to join you. Izuku was flustered by your boldness. He took a deep breath, thinking back on what Shoto had told him about meeting new people. He never really came out to parties, usually the only places he went that had lots of people is church.
He made his way to your lustful energy. Izuku sat on the bed with you. "I'm Y/n," you greeted.
"I'm Izuku Midoriya," he said, giving an unsure smile.
His emerald colored eyes were a sight to see, they were beautiful. You shook your head, snapping back into reality. Izuku just stared at your own hypnotizing gaze.
"I heard you go to Shoto's school. You believe in God?" you asked, curiously.
"W-what?! Of course I do! God is my ruler. He is my only God," Izuku rambled. You thought his little ramble about God was adorable. He seemed very passionate about his religious beliefs.
All you could do was shrug. "I can't relate but I respect your beliefs,"
"Why can't you relate? Do you not believe in our lord and savior?"
You shook your head 'no', earning an audible gasp from Izuku.
"What? W-why not?"
You began to feel annoyed by the way he was talking. "Izuku, don't you ever have temptations?" you questioned, trying to explain how you feel.
Izuku began to look off to the side. "We aren't supposed to..."
"Well! We are human! We can't help how we feel," you interrupted, laughing.
Izuku cocked his eyebrow. "I never follow my temptations. They must be kept away, giving into them is a sin,"
You rolled your eyes at the word 'sin'. It rolled off his tongue so smoothly, you were buzzed from the party earlier so maybe that's why you decided to say...
"Have you ever sinned?"
Izuku looked at you, his mouth hung agape. You bet he never expected you to ask him such a personal question.
"O-of course not!" he said, furrowing his eyebrows. He seemed offended by the question.
You hummed to yourself, leaning close to the poor boy's face. Suddenly, you found yourself straddling his empty lap. He didn't dare touch or look at you, he was easily embarrassed. His face was a beet red hue. His hands nor face paid attention to the temptation of your body.
"You've never..." you thought. Smirking, you leaned into his ear, "Touched yourself?" you finished. Your breath was close against his neck, making him shiver underneath you.
Izuku's heart beat felt rapid. He had no words, seemingly. Taking a deep breath, he shook his head. He did not partake in such sinful acts.
You almost laughed in his face thinking he was joking. But on further inspection, he seemed dead serious. This made you excited. You loved sleeping with virgins. They always had the whiniest moans and the warmest cum. You loved taking advantage of them, making sure to make them feel pathetic.
Your hand crept up to his face, grabbing his cheek. "Do you want me to show you how to touch yourself, Izuku?" you asked, as innocently as you could.
And with that, you felt something hard underneath you, this boy had gotten a boner, a boner that you wanted to get rid of.
"I...I shouldn't," Izuku mumbled, feeling as if he were spinning.
Your lips found their way on his neck, sucking on his soft skin softly. He let out a whimper, his whimper made you want to go insane. But! You know you should take it slow, it is his first time after all.
"Do you want me to touch you?" you asked, feeling your core already to start to burn.
"N..N..."
"It's a sin to lie, isn't it?" you teased, not really knowing if it was a sin or not.
"Touch me,"
With that being said, you smashed your lips against his. Izuku let you kiss him. But what got him more interested was when you slipped your tongue into his mouth. He seemed like a natural to you. Your tongues were in sync, making you want him even more.
After releasing your kiss to breathe in some air, you looked into his eyes. Lust. He was being lustful in this moment with you. It made you eager to ruin him.
"What do you want me to do to you?" you asked, pushing his back on to the bed. He laid under you as you sucked on his skin, making sure to leave purple marks. They way he crumbled under your touch felt so sexy to you.
"D...Do w-whatever you want to me," he moaned, finally having the courage to put his hands on your waist. They ran up and down your hips. grinding your body slightly on his hard clothed cock.
You smiled, removing your clothes, only having a bra and panties on, this would be his first time seeing a woman naked. You felt excited knowing that. You helped Izuku get him own clothes off, leaving him in his boxers. The tent built up in them almost had you drooling at the sight.
He couldn't look you in the eyes, he stared at the ground, holding his cheeks to relieve them as they were burning. You were stood up, Izuku's legs draped over the bedside, he was anticipating for more.
Getting on your knees, you made sure Izuku kept his eyes directly on you.
"I'm going to show you how to please yourself, kay?" you said, pecking his lips.
"H-ow do I do that...?" he asked, almost stuttering.
Instead of explaining, you grabbed his hand. You wanted to tease him before touching him. You let your warm tongue touch the pads of his finger tips. You noticed his dick twitch due to your action. You began to suck softly and slowly, Izuku was in a trance, wishing it were his cock instead.
"Let me see it now, Zuku,"
Izuku felt his blush come back to him, he must've felt too embarrassed to pull out his cock, he kept stuttering and rambling on and on. You rolled your eyes, playfully, finding your own hands to be the one to reveal his dick. His dick was long and thick, you've never seen such a perfect one.
He whined as your soft hands started pumping his dick slowly.
"This is how to please yourself, give me your hand," you ordered.
Without any thought Izuku gave you his hand. You wrapped his own hand around his dick, making him pump it himself.
"Does that feel good baby?" you asked, ready to make him feel even more relieved.
"Y-yes," he moaned.
You grazed your thumb over the tip making him feel jolts of pleasure.
After watching him pump his cock in front of you a few times, you were ready to wrap your lips around his length. You wanted him to cry out your name- No- You needed him to cry out your name.
You took off Izuku's hand from his own length, giving him your full attention.
"Keep your eyes on me Izuku," you said, in a serious tone.
He nodded his head, fast.
You stuck out your tongue to lick the tip of his dick. He tossed his head back, making you feel more heated. In an instant, you took his whole tip in your mouth, sucking on it soft and slow. He groaned, trying to stop the urge to grab your hair. You noticed his hand hovering over your head, was he trying to be respectful? You rolled your eyes, grabbing his hand and placing it in your own hair.
"You can pull my hair baby, don't be shy,"
Izuku blushed at your words but found his fingers gripping right where your scalp is. You loved it, he's learning so easily.
Your wet tongue ran up and down his shaft, earning moans and groans from Izuku. He started to gain more confidence, moving your head down further. He wanted you to take him fully but he was too shy to say.
After a few minutes of pants, moaning, and suckling noises, you felt Izuku get more tense and sloppy as he moved your head. He was close to cumming.
"This... Feels so good," he moaned, his hips rutting upwards on instinct.
"You're such a good boy, does the good boy wanna cum?" you asked, rubbing his dick in your hands. Both of your hands rubbed him in all the right ways.
"C-cum?" Izuku questioned.
Oh of course! He is a virgin, he doesn't know about these things. The cross around his neck was connected to his chest due to the sweat. You laughed in your head, knowing you're stealing one of God's little angels.
"You'll understand when it happens, for now, just lay back and let me make you feel good, hm?"
Izuku understood, laying back down, propping himself on his elbows to look at your face.
You continued to suck on him, anticipating to feel his warm cum on your face.
"W-wait!" Izuku shouted, a look on his face signified he was unfamiliar by the feeling.
You knew what this meant, you kept using your hands and tongue faster.
"A-ah no! Something... Ah~ No I think I'm going to-"
You took out his cock from your mouth, rubbing it up and down while he shot his hot cum on your face. He felt ecstasy.
"S-so good!" he praised, panting.
You licked up all of the cum you could off of his dick, making sure he watched. His face was red.
"That was too good," Izuku said, sitting upwards. He got up to grab his shirt off of the floor. You sighed, understanding he was ready to leave.
"What? Leaving too so-"
He wiped the cum off of your body, feeling embarrassed that you have his sperm all over your cute face. Your cheeks burned up, no one has taken care of you after doing something like that.
"S-sorry about that," he apologized, rubbing the back of his neck.
You gave him a smile, feeling an unfamiliar sensation deep down in your heart. "It's no problem," you said, taking a seat on the bed.
Izuku sat next to you.
"T-thanks for that... I've never done anything like that before," he sighed.
"You think we're done?" you giggled. Of course you weren't!
"Are we not?" Izuku asked, confused.
You shook your head, straddling Izuku's lap. This time instead of being so shy, he seemed less anxious, comfortable, and familiar. His hands gripped your waist, guiding your hips to grind against his dick, causing him to get hard once again.
"Let me ruin you Izuku," you whispered, kissing him passionately. He kissed you back, wanting everything from you. He needed you.
"Please y/n... Ruin me,"
All you could do was smile at his words, he was ready for you and only you.
You got off Izuku, slowly removing your panties. After removing them you sat back down on Izuku's lap.
"What are we doing next?" he asked, fiddling with his hands.
You honestly didn't need foreplay, you were ready for him. You were ready to ruin him, to make him connected to you by soul ties.
"Izuku, lay down," you demanded.
Izuku did exactly what you said, laying down right in the center of the bed, his body propped into the soft, silky pillows.
You crawled over to him like a hunter stalking its prey. You had no hesitation to pounce on him. You hovered yourself over his dick, wanting to see his facial expressions as you put it in. Though you weren't a fan of riding, you always were when it came to virgins.
Your eyes landed upon the cross around Izuku's neck. God can't help his poor soul now.
Slowly, you began to sink down on Izuku's cock.
"Warm... So good," he whispered.
Your gummy walls held onto his dick tightly. The lewd noises you were making were beyond comprehension.
"I can't... Too much," Izuku whined, closing his eyes, holding on to your hips.
"You can take it baby, so big and ready to fill me up," you said, finally pushing yourself on his dick fully.
He let out a moan.
You allowed him to get familiar with the sensation of your walls, not wanting him to cum so quickly.
You began to move yourself up and down, Izuku's hands attached to your hips as you rode him.
His dick filled you up, hitting all the right spots. You moaned, sinking down on his cock.
Moans and whimpers could be heard throughout the room. This feeling is one that you could never give up.
Over time you began to pick up the pace, Izuku was huffing and taking deep breaths as you sped up. He was so sensitive after you made him cum earlier, he wanted to try and make you feel good too, which is why it's taking everything in him not to cum right then and there.
"F-fuck Izuku~" you moaned, feeling the knot in your stomach ready to be released.
You felt yourself moving faster, wanting to chase your own orgasm.
"G-god! So good! I can't hold it in," Izuku whimpered.
You smirked at his words. "God can't help you Izuku," you said, slyly.
For some odd reason that turned Izuku on even more, rutting his hips upwards. He hugged your waist, slamming you down on his cock. You were surprised by his actions but didn't care, he was eager, it's his first time, of course he was.
You wrapped your arms around his shoulders, feeling your orgasm near closer and closer. You couldn't help your eyes rolling back, it all was too much!
His dick hit your favorite spot, earning loud moans.
"Right there Izuku~" you panted, almost sounding like you were whining.
Izuku understood, moving your hips faster. Fucking into you as much as he could, hitting your spot over and over, continuously.
"Gon-Gonna cum!" you cried, ready to become undone.
Izuku just couldn't contain himself, his dick went in as much as it could, his hot seed pumping inside of you. The warmth of his cum made you reach your climax.
You both panted for air. You got off of the boy, laying beside him. That fucking session was a pretty damn good one.
"Thank you Y/n. I've never felt so alive," Izuku said, turning to face you. He had a smile plastered on him. His smile made your heart flutter.
Your stamina was all used up, you could barely look him in his eyes. You were happy to be of assistance for him.
"You were such a good boy," you said, leaning into kiss him.
He grabbed your cheeks, kissing you until you fell asleep. He wanted to take such good care of you after you helped him out. He placed a cover on top of you, admiring your cute face.
"Asleep already?" Izuku asked.
You didn't hear a word he said, already fast to sleep. You were insanely worn out.
He giggled slightly, kissing the top of your forehead.
...
"Fucking idiot," he muttered, rolling his eyes and getting off of the bed in search for his boxers. "When Shoto said it'd be this easy... I didn't think he meant this easy," he commented, ripping off the cross necklace from his neck. He threw it somewhere in the room, not caring for things like 'God'.
Once he found his boxers, he walked over the the dresser, taking out his phone, hidden behind some perfumes, which was recording the whole scene between the two of you.
"Too damn easy," he smirked, checking the video quickly to see if it captured everything, and trust me, it did.
3 Missed calls from Ochako <3
Izuku scoffed at his notifications, dialing the missing call back. He didn't want to deal with her bullshit right now, he wanted to smoke a quick cigarette before having to be by her side all night. The phone number answered quickly.
"Where are you babe? You've been missing for awhile now," the girl said, sounding worried.
"I just needed some air, I'll meet up with you in a bit,"
"Okay honey, bye, I love you,"
"I love you too,"

He didn’t turn the big light on when he carried her into his living room. He didn’t need to, the floor clear of any clutter to trip him up.
He didn’t turn it on after he lay her on the sofa and went to grab a towel. The light of his own bathroom spilling into the room was enough, he thought.
Enough to wrap her in one of his big, barely used, towels.
Enough to clean and bandage her wounds.
Enough to blot the blood and water from her hair.
She huddled into him for warmth and comfort and he did not deny her.
How could he? For now he was her shepherd, guiding her until she went to the hereafter.
In the dim and dinge, it would be easier for her to accept the reality of her situation.
So he kept her in the dark.
---
She stirred against him a few hours later. Wincing against the low light and putting a hand to her head.
 “Head hurt?” he rumbled.
She froze and peered up at him. Blinking in confusion.
“You’re… no. There’s no way.” She pulled away from him and rubbed at her face. “I keep fucking it up, there’s no way it worked this time.”
 “How many times?”
“Four or five.” She looked ashamed, wrapping herself up in her arms, like she’d done in the bath. “Skill issue, I guess.”
He watched her. He could see that forlorn hope dancing in her eyes that he was real. That she’d actually managed it this time.
He put a hand on her shoulder.
 I am real.
“I thought if I did it in the bath, maybe I’d drown if I fucked up again.”
He tilted his head at her.
She looked at him, eyes widening.
Relief played on her face again, battling with misery.
 “I drowned?”
“Was the bottle full when you started?”
Relief won, a smile breaking out on her face.
“I did it,” she whispered, a hand reaching out and grasping his jumper. “It’s over.”
On some level he felt like he should be angry at that, like he’d been trained to be by an uncaring world, but it was hard when she started crying.
“Thank you,” she sniffled, “I know it’s your… job? Or whatever, but thank you.” A watery smile. “I feel a lot better not being alone right now.”
She removed her hand and pulled the towel tighter around herself, covering up her skin.
Her head must still be throbbing from her hangover.
 He stood.
“I’ll get you some water. Drink it, then sleep.”
 She nodded, resigned.
“Some last solid rest before my trip to hell. That’s very kind of you.”
Ghost turned to stare at her.
“What?” he barked. “You're not going to hell.”
Why would she? What could this small, sad looking woman possibly have done to deserve that.
She frowned, “are you sure? I’m an atheist and I killed myself. You have to admit that it’s not looking good for me.”
Both of those things were so desperately inconsequential that he found himself chuckling.
“You’re not going to hell,” he repeated. A sly smile formed under his mask. “It’s so much worse. You’re stuck with me.”
She stared back at him with wide eyes and a gently agape mouth.
 “Oh.”
He turned away and went to the kitchen, leaving her to stew in that horror for a moment.
It seemed to sink in as she took the glass from him and drank from it.
He sat next to her again, arm stretched out on the back behind her. Watching her mouth as she drank.
 She had a pretty mouth.
To her credit, she didn’t flinch away from him. Instead staring blankly into the middle distance as she drank.
It was as she neared the end of the glass that the silence was broken.
 “Is- is that your face?”
“It’s a mask. What people expect.”
She nodded and finished her drink.
 “Okay.”
He pulled the glass from her hands and put it on the floor.
“Sleep now?” she asked, eyes wide as she looked at him. The towel pulled tightly around her again.
He slipped his arms beneath her and pulled her up against his chest as he stood.
 Her eyes widened even more.
 Oh, he must be sc-
“Gosh. You’re really strong.” She looked awed, mouth pulling up into a cute smile.
 Ghost found himself taken aback.
 “You’re not that heavy.”
“At that angle I am.” She stared at her fingers, weaving them together, and was that a blush? “The mechanics being what they are, and all.”
“You like strong men, huh?” he murmured as he carried her to the bedroom.
 Her blush deepened.
“I admire the hard work and discipline.” A quiet protest, as she was placed on the bed.
 “‘Course you do.”
 “I do!”
He dug around in his drawers, pulling out two sets of pyjamas. One with long bottoms and one with drawstring shorts.
He put the shorts set on the bed.
“Sure. You change into those and get under the duvet. I’ll be right back.”
“Um.” Her meek call stopped him in the doorway.
 “Yeah?”
“Are we going to share the bed?”
Of course they were. There was only one in the flat.
 “Yeah.”
“I could sleep on the sofa,” she offered.
 That was a stupid idea.
“No. You need a proper night’s sleep.”
 Her nervous expression intensified.
 “It’s just, um-”
“Sleep.” He walked over to her and crouched so they were eye to eye. “You need sleep, and that’s what you’ll get. Nothing else.”
She searched his eyes in the dinge.
 “Okay.”
 He nodded.
He found her curled up under the duvet when he got back. Towel neatly folded on top of the chets of drawers, bra and knickers on top of it. She must have believed him.
A gentle touch on her shoulder earned him nothing.
 Out like a light. Good.
He moved to the other side of the bed and climbed in.
Sharing a bed with another person wasn’t something he’d done in a long time. Maybe he wouldn’t be able to sleep. That would be annoying, but he’d cope.
He turned onto his side and looked at his bedmate’s sleeping face.
She was smashing her face into the pillow, mouth locked in a grim line and eyebrows slightly furrowed.
There was no way she was dreaming yet, her eyes remained stationary under their lids.
Soon they’d start dancing, and he’d watch. Just in case she needed him again.
---
Movement against his skin woke him.
His eyes snapped open, hand reaching for a weapon.
A head of messy hair filled his vision, and an arm around his chest stymied his reach.
The light creeping under his blind illuminated the situation, his neighbour pressed up against him.
 It felt… quite nice, actually.
She tilted her head to look up at him, the words on her lips falling away with shock.
He looked curiously at her, placing his hand on her shoulder.
 “What’s the matter?”
“You… look just like my neighbour.”
 Shit.

What is the equivalent of the phrase "Oh my God" that Bill uses? Is he mentioning some god figure from his home dimension or is he using “Oh my me” or “Oh my Axolotl”?
He doesn't use anything.
Have you ever heard an atheist say "oh my big bang" instead of "oh my god"? In common usage, the word "god" in "oh my god" is merely part of a stock phrase and not a declaration of belief. In fact, changing "god" to another term would instantly make it more religious, since if you just say "oh my god" it's like "well maybe they believe in a god or maybe they're just using the phrase," but if you say "oh my [something else]" it's like "they DEFINITELY believe in [something else] so passionately that they changed the phrase just to emphasize how much they believe in it."
If Bill ever used the phrase, he would use it like a foreign word pronounced omaigohd that's just an exclamation that communicates a specific emotional meaning to English-speakers (anger, shock, excitement)—and he's not going to get all cutesy while speaking a foreign language to draw attention to something irrelevant. This exclamation isn't an avenue to announce his religious beliefs.
There ARE issues he feels passionately enough about that he'd break away from common English. Unless he's in "pretending to be human" mode, at any place where a human would naturally refer to themself as "a person," "a woman/man," "female/male," "she/he," Bill will refer to himself as "a shape," "a triangle," "triangular," "it," even in contexts where that sounds weird to the humans. His gender is triangle and that matters to him. Religion does not.
At any rate, there's no [something else] he could fill into the phrase. He knows for a fact that there are figures powerful enough to alter reality—he is one. He suspects on good evidence that there are even more powerful figures that can conjure an entire universe from nothing—he is not one. He considers "power" and "divinity" to be separate things, he doesn't think powerful figures are divine, and he doesn't think the divine is real. He thinks "god" is an artificial social label, like "king," that only exists when enough people concur that it's real and stops existing when enough people stop respecting it. He thinks "god" is what the weak call the powerful when they've been fooled into thinking the powerful deserve worship. He thinks he's one of the powerful that fools the weak. He doesn't think he's a god—except when he's lying to himself very well—but he loves how it feels when other people call him a god, so he encourages it. He doesn't consider anybody god, he doesn't obey or respect any authority, and generally the more powerful a being is, the more he dislikes them on principle. One trillion years ago, the beliefs he was raised with were the sort a white American boomer experiencing a religious crisis would insist are "spiritual but not religious." He briefly thought gods might be real in his youth, but never worshiped any.
But all that aside—his vocabulary simply doesn't include the phrase "oh my god." He doesn't want to imply he even might worship something—he's too proud and that pride is too fragile. If he has to make an exclamation, it'll be something entirely different—"Oh boy." "Oh, come on!" "You're kidding me." "Seriously?" "Whoa!" "Wow!" "No way," maybe hysterical laughter—whatever's fitting in a given situation. Several times in the fic I've had to go find a different phrase where if he was another character I could've just put "omigosh".

Healy!reader’s relationship to the boys
Tumblr media
george - as mentioned previously, george is the official-unofficial godfather. (official because matty deemed him that, and unofficial because your father is an atheist) your dad also always puts him down as your 2nd emergency contact - him being first of course. He was one of the first people to hold you when you were born and was looking forward to life with his new little buddy. He always called you “bubs” and when you were a baby and first started to babble, you tried to say it back and eventually kept saying “bubba” instead and kept pointing at him whenever you said it or tried to get his attention. from then on he was bubba to you and he loved that he had a nickname. you call him whenever you're in some sort of trouble that you don’t want your dad finding out about. You had him pick you up from a party and admitted to him you tried drugs but swore immediately that you’d never do it again. He was like “Bubs, what the hell?!” and you said “I know, Bubba. I know, I’ll never do it again!” and he said “No not doing drugs- doing drugs without me! Next time you feel like having fun, you call your uncle George and let him get you something. I need to make sure you're not getting worse stuff on the streets or someone is trying to rip you off!” you we’re like uh okay cool but no thanks. your dad was pissed when he found out. Not at you ofc - he was happy you were out and about being a teenager. he was pissed at george for the encouragement and that he didn’t tell him.
Adam - your dad likes to joke that you started having conversations with people that moment you were born. you would always make these noises. Eventually your dad could differentiate them and he would be able to tell if you were hungry, or tired or whatever. You tried to call people by their names before you could really speak. Again- they were just like sounds. Adam became “adi” and that’s all you’ve called him since. usually nowadays it’s “uncle adi” or something of the sort. he was set on you being a musician from the very start. he gave you your very first guitar lesson at the ripe age of 3 which was basically just him playing guitar to whatever song was blasting and you strumming along on your hannah montana mini guitar that bubba got you for christmas without playing any actual chords or holding any rhythm. He’s the uncle you spill all the tea to first. He knows who everyone in your school is because you two always shit talk about the bitches in your school and gossip about whatever taylor swift was doing that day. “So she called me literally CRYING that her friend canceled on her and i was like ‘gurl don’t worry we can go out together tmr’ and so we made plans for the next day” and he’s just like “uh huh” and just nodding on and on “but THEN she cancels our plans the very next day and was like ‘oh i have a family event’ but then a check her instagram story AND SHES OUT WITH ALL OUR FRIENDS WITHOUT ME!” and he matches your energy and is like “WHAT A BITCH!” he loves you very very dearly and would drop everything in a second to be wherever you needed him.
ross - When you were little and started speaking little words you would point at ross and just say “tall” which always made everyone laugh. It eventually turned into “tallie” (t - ah - lee) the vowels never made sense to the boys but they just chalked it up to you being a baby of a britt being raised in america. he’s the most ‘uncle like’ (?) like he’s always making sure you do your homework and makes sure you're home at a certain time and shit. all 3 are overprotective as FUCK but ross definitely takes the cake for most over protective. he’s like “be back my 10” and you’d always fight him and be like “10!?! cmon! midnight man!” and he sticks his ground. “no way.” “what about 11:30?” “it’s about to be 9 if you keep it up…” “fine i’ll be back by 10.” - you, accepting your defeat.

Hiii, I just wanted to say that I love your page so much and how in depth you explain things <3
I've been obsessed with Greek mythology for some time now and last week I discovered that they actually exist and that people worship them. You can imagine my excitement hahshah. So, I felt drawn to mostly Apollo and Aphrodite but I'm working more with Apollo. So far he's helped me sooo much already and he's always there when I call him for help or just to vent. And even though I can feel his presence and I've seen some signs I've been an atheist for my whole life and it's just so strange for me to just sit alone in my room talking to the air (as I said even though I feel like he's listening to me) or offering something and just leaving it there. I'll probably get used to it but I don't know if you could give me some advice. Oh and also what are some ways I can communicate with Apollo (or deities in general) ?? Because I just talk to them and id like to receive a response I can understand or like ask more specific questions if that makes sense??
Anyways sorry for the long message and thank you for your time 💖
Hey hi!!! Don't worry about the long message. I love getting asks!! Also, thank you so so much 🥺 I'm glad you enjoy my page!
I totally get the excitement you're feeling; I felt a similar way, although my progress was slow to get to where I am now. Finding out that these deities truly are there, and that they listen, is something so surreal! It still fills me with amazement, even though I've been practicing for a while.
Feeling awkward when you start out with prayer and offerings is a totally normal experience. I felt that way for a long time; the number one tip I'd have for you is to find something that represents the deity you're talking to. Whether it be a candle dedicated to them (LED or otherwise), a statue, a picture, or even just a random object, this can help a lot with materializing your deity. By that, I mean that it's easier to communicate when you have something to look at visually. My favorite way to do this is with a candle; the way the flame moves can sometimes indicate a response from said deity. However, I don't always light my candles; talking to deities comes easier with time and dedication.
Another tip I'd have for this "issue" is to use a specific posture/stance to pray (especially if you cant use physical objects). I used to be Christian, and during those types of prayers, you'd typically press your hands together in some way and bow your head. However, when worshipping greek deities, there are two most common ways to hold yourself.
For deities that remain in the sky/Mount Olympus, you would stand with your arms stretched out, palms facing up. For deities in the underworld, you would get on your knees and place your hands on the ground. For me, the posture on the ground isn't possible right now (knee surgery things), so I just look at the ground and face my palms down.
Those two tips seemed to be what helped a lot with prayer. For offerings, I tend to leave them for an hour or two and then throw them away (my family doesn't like when it's overnight). You can also do devotional acts for offering, such as self care, listening to a music playlist you make the deity, making a pinterest board, etc. This makes offerings a lot less daunting for me. One time, I held a dance party for Apollo! We had fun.
In terms of communication, other than talking directly, there are a few ways you can send a message. The first method I like to use is to meditate. You don't have to talk; you can say your question out loud or think it. Try to just keep the question in mind, and the first thought/answer you have is typically what the deity would respond with (in my experience).
Another method I use is automatic writing! This is where you close your eyes and write whatever comes to mind. You can ask a specific deity to send you a message if you'd like. It's sort of like meditation, but physically, if you get what I mean.
Sometimes, to get a response, you might want to ask for a sign. For example, "If I need to do A, I'll see a crow; if I need to do B, I'll see a duck." Choose things that are common in your area. The first one you see is your answer!
Aside from that, you can always use pendulums (or even a necklace as a makeshift pendulum), tarot cards, and any other divination tool.
I apologize for the long response, and I hope this helped!!!! 🫶🫶🫶

Got an ignorant hate comment. Felt it deserved it's own post. It's a long one, and technically isn't doing anything productive as I blocked the person. I just like yelling into the void. Mind the tags.
Tumblr media
1) You're funny. I'm agnostic, and wasn't even raised christian. It's like an atheist saying "Oh my god" (this can't be real/that's ridiculous) or "God save me" (I'm doomed). "My brother in Christ", what would normally be a term of endearment and familiarity in a christian setting becomes very condescending and 'holier than thou' if said to any non christian (not just jews). Because of that, outside of a christian setting, it's now a term of sarcasm and mockery to point out someone's stupidity and ignorance. So the fact you jumped into a defensive standpoint, calling someone you know nothing about antisemitic over a post that wasn't even directed at you, tells me a lot more about your insecurities.
2) Yes, you're right! It is perfectly reasonable to not WANT people with an involuntary attraction to real life children to INTERACT with your work. But let me lay out a few things. Stop using that word, it does not mean what you think it means. Being attracted to fictional characters depicted as kids in a form of media that is (at least in a non indie setting) designed, and written by a team of adults, fudging up the looks and behaviors of their characters compared to reality to be more appealing to a wide demographic, is not pedophilia. Pedophilia is a mental disorder, where an attraction to children who can't consent is causing direct harm to yourself or those around you in your day to day life. This usually presents itself as crippling distress for the person with the disorder due to their intrusive thoughts, and fear of losing your friends and family should they find out about your disorder. By calling an attraction to fictional character depicted as children "pedophilia" you are doing what's called pedojacketing. Which is a false accusation against someone in attempt to rally others by appealing to their disgust to ruin the life of another person. It causes major harm by both trivializing a serious and often debilitating mental illness into a "voluntary perversion", while also trivializing the seriousness of child predator allegations by equating the sexual abuse of real, breathing children, to that of fictional story that never happened. Most predators aren't even pedophiles, they are attracted to the power imbalance and control, not the kid itself. But that's not what proship is, it's an ideology that people should be allowed to have their own space to enjoy whatever fiction they want without harassment or censorship. And guess what, that doesn't mean we aren't entitled to your space. If our ideology makes you uncomfortable, it's your right to block us and keep us from interacting with your art.
But get this, consuming and interacting are two completely different things. Consuming means you've looked at a piece of art, you watched a video, read a piece of literature, or played a video game. The moment you post something to the public, and not somewhere with restricted access, you forfeit all right to decide who can consume your media. AO3 is a public website, even if you choose the lovely option of only showing your work to people who are logged in (which anyone can get an account), you can't then decide who is allowed to view your work. When you post media publicly, it is impossible to discern every single person who has consumed your work. At best a site may have a "views" counter, or in AO3's case, hits, but it will always remain anonymous. As such, if you don't like the idea of a proshipper consuming your work, congrats, you will never have to know.
Interacting however means that you've consumed a piece of media, and are now making a public display about your consumption where the creator can see it, that individualizes them from the rest of the crowd. A comment, a post, if the media has a non-anonymous "like" function, or non-anonymous subscription/follow function. Most people are sane, and don't go out of their way to do background checks on every single person that interacted with their work. But if it comes to your attention that someone who makes your uncomfortable is interacting with your work where you can see it, then you have the tools to make it so you'll never be able to see or hear from them again. They will still be able to consume your public work, but now you've curated your personal experience.
But if you're so paranoid and disgusted by the idea that someone you find icky or gross might be able to consume your content without your consent, then you have to take responsibility for your own experiencing it and revoke your consent from the wider public by removing your content from a public platform.
This person was deluding themself into believing that consumption was the same thing as interaction and that the existence of a dni means it was the public's responsibility to regulate their online experience for them, and was getting upset at the realization that they can't regulate a public space the same way as a private one, and that people they don't like will be able to see their public work even if they will never know about it.

Elmsworth House, July 4th, 1818
Tumblr media Tumblr media
John: And that damn scandalous politician, Theophile Baxter! I will not be voting for that bloody liberal!
Elizabeth: Please dear, reduce your swearing.
Tumblr media
Peregrine: I wouldn't say Baxter is completely liberal, John. Some of his policies are more conservative than liberal. I don't like him much either though so he doesn't have my vote!
Helena: *sighing* Must you always bring up politics during dinner, Perry?
Peregrine: No dear but-
Helena: I dare say, may we change the topic?
Tumblr media
Ashley: I think Miles Bragg is a very good polit-
Helena and Peregrine: Oh shut it, Ashley!
Tumblr media
Emma: What do you think of this muslin, Laurence? Does it make me look like a proper young lady?
Tumblr media
Laurence: If you ask me about another damn "mouslin" or whatever the devil it's called I believe I'll go mad!
Emma: It's called muslin!
*Laurence sighs*
Tumblr media
William: Mar-Dear Ms. Ramsbury. Are you enjoying your dinner?
Tumblr media
Martha: Yes-yes. Quite well.
William: Capital!
Tumblr media
Aurelia: I think your muslin is lovely Ms. Carew. Please disregard your dear brother.
Emma: Oh thank you, Lady Aurelia!
Tumblr media
Patience: Oh yes, it's very lovely. I'm not sure why Mr. Carew hates muslin so!
Tumblr media
Laurence: My apologies my dearest Lady...oh and Mrs. Ramsbury.
Tumblr media
Aurelia: *whispering* Why are you looking at me like that? Are you cross?
Frederick: *whispering* Am I cross, "My dearest Lady.."? Perhaps I "je n'aurais pas à résister à l'envie d'embrasser tes lèvres pulpeuses et d'embrasser ta silhouette parfaite..." or whatever the hell he said.
Aurelia: Oh heavens, it worked.
Frederick: Whatever do you mean it worked?!
Tumblr media
Aurelia: You paid no compliments to my hair. I thought you didn't notice it. I did it this way for you and you paid me no compliments!
Frederick: I noticed you and your pretty blue silks the moment you stepped into the drawing room. Had I not been engaged in conversation with your uncle, I would've gone and talked to you.
Aurelia: I'm sure of it. I still haven't received a compliment on my hair from you, perhaps I shall invite Mr. Carew to my birthday in four da-
Tumblr media
Frederick: Dearest, sweetest, loveliest Lily. I love your gorgeous hair and how those little ringlets adorn your beautiful face. I love that style and if it makes you happy, I would wish you wear it more often. Not saying I don't like any other style you wear, but that one is my favorite so far. Is this good enough for you? Please know that I sincerely mean it.
Aurelia: *blushing* More than good enough.
Frederick: Now will you stop giving that scoundrel any ounces of your attention and affection?
Aurelia: I shall try.
Tumblr media
Aurelia: *giggling* I shall be cordial with him. It is the polite thing to do. You're also a fool if you ever think Cornelius Grey would allow one of his daughters to marry a second son! Let alone an atheist. I'm sure he will invite you to stay with us in Brindleton at Paelford.
Frederick: *laughing* I hope he does. But you tease me too much. You enjoy vexing me.
Aurelia: Admit that you like it when I vex you.
Frederick: I only like it when I do not have the urge to rip someone's tongue from their throat.
Aurelia: Frederick Worthington!
Tumblr media
This grandiose dinner continued for the next hour until everyone was stuffed. Aurelia found herself mainly conversing with Frederick throughout this dinner, and no one paid them any mind. It was quite obvious to everyone in the room, including Laurence of the affection they shared, even if it was in modesty due to them being surrounded by others. Peregrine, knowing the coming events decided that the gentlemen would not smoke directly after dinner. Once the table was cleared of dinner and dessert plates, William Carew mustered the courage to arise to make a speech, with his wine glass in his hand.
Tumblr media
William: Ladies and gentlemen, esteemed family and friends, I am filled with an overwhelming sense of joy and gratitude. The warmth in my heart exceeds the glow of any candle that graces this room. Before we head to the drawing room, I must share with you a moment that has forever altered the course of my life. A fortnight ago, at the ball held by Viscount Markham, I dared to utter words that have forever changed the trajectory of my and Ms. Ramsbury's future. I asked a question that resides in the chambers of every romantic heart. A question that binds souls and weaves fabrics of destiny.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
William: I inquired if she would be my forever partner in this so-called journey called life. I asked Miss Martha Ramsbury if she would be my loving, and faithful wife. I am pleased to tell you she has happily accepted!
Tumblr media
Helena: Oh my goodness! My dear girl is to be wed, how wonderful! I shall have to ask my dear brother if you two may tie the nuptials at Auglire! Oh Peregrine, how blessed are we!
Peregrine: *in between tears* Yes, quite blessed my dear!
Tumblr media
William: To love, to friendship, and to the uncharted seas of me and my dear bride's shared future-cheers!
Everyone in the room stood, and the room was filled with the clinking of crystal, followed by a chorus of heartfelt congratulations and well-wishes. The only one who didn't seem to wish the couple good wishes was Patience Ramsbury, who Aurelia couldn't help but notice her fake smile and discomfort.
Tumblr media
Laurence Carew ordered nearby footmen to bring him a bottle of brandy.
Tumblr media
Laurence: TO MY FUCKING BLOODY BASTARD OF A BROTHER!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Laurence: HAVE SOME MERRIMENT ON THIS JOYFUL EVE YOU LOT!
John and Elizabeth Carew let out a long sigh at how embarrassed they were by this son of theirs. But their annoyance didn't last long, for their firstborn and heir to their estate was to marry Miss Martha Ramsbury! At this moment, Aurelia realized who Laurence reminded her of. No other than that of Thaddeus Skeffington, a man whom she had a lot of disdain for. Despite her teasing Frederick to get him jealous, she knew she could never marry someone like Laurence. Laurence was more up to speed with her friend Villoria. Frederick was the only man she could ever see herself marrying.
Tumblr media
Although she was happy for Martha, she couldn't help but wish she had a ring on her finger and a lace bonnet on her head to share Martha's bliss. How she wished she was Lady Worthington, Countess of Henford. Oh, how she regretted rejecting Frederick's proposal. Perhaps they even would have had babies by now had she accepted.

hi!! i hope this isnt too invasive, but im just curious, as someone who has converted to judaism would you view religion/judaism as a choice?
the reason im asking is that i studied theology in college and it was something we discussed within the class, whether religion was a choice or something inherent within a person, but my entire class were either muslims from muslim families or atheists, so a lot of the perspectives were that it wasnt a choice (ie "im atheist because i dont believe in god, but i wish i could be religious, so it isnt a choice" or "im religious because i do inherently believe in god, and for that reason i couldnt choose atheism") so id be curious to hear your take! no pressure of course if its an invasive question or likely to cause disagreements
oh no worries at all! i think honestly part of the problem here is the definition of judaism as a religion lmao. it's an ethnoreligion with a unique approach to history (it's currently pesach, and we are commanded to feel as though we personally were brought out of egypt. we re-enact the exodus, every year not having enough time for our bread to leaven. highly recommend reading yerushalmi's "zachor" if you're interested in how judaism interacts with time). basically, joining judaism is WAY different than joining any other religion (afaik). you literally have a new ethnicity, jewish
so talking about this from the other side, there are a bunch of atheist jews, and my rabbi told me i'm not even really required to believe in gd in order to convert to judaism, and on the other hand i can believe in the existence of other gods! i'm just not allowed to worship them. so there are some religious jews, there are atheist jews, there are agnostic jews, buddhist jews, witchy jews, and so many other kinds!
to me, this gets to my understanding of religion as a culture. the measurable parts of a religion are common practices, common objects, common texts, common important days, either common answers to a question or common frameworks or common questions or whatever else. religion to me seems like a framework through which we can channel our feelings about the world, and which we can use to understand/interact with the world around us. in a sense, culture is the same. growing up in kentucky has given me the common practice of corn mazes in the fall, the common object of horseshoes as symbols of luck, the common texts of shakespeare and poe, the common important days of the derby and oaks, the frameworks of thinking in terms of a two party system and having a hesitancy about going to a Big City™️. i can't change the fact that i grew up in kentucky, and i can choose to adopt new practices and habits and even to move to a different place, but it's harder to unlearn some of the stuff ingrained in me, and even if i do move, that doesn't mean i get rid of my memories and feelings about kentucky. it's the same with religion. i can't change the fact that i grew up in a christian household, was told to mourn in a christian way, and have lived in the bible belt all my life. even converting to judaism, i still have good memories about christmas and easter, and i'm still expected to go home for christmas
aside from this, honestly i wouldn't even say my beliefs have changed very much from christianity to wicca-flavored witchcraft to judaism. i still have a Wow This Is Big feeling when i'm hiking in the appalachias or singing in a big group of people, i still fundamentally love humanity and think human collaboration is powerful and beautiful, i still try my best to live my life according to my set of morals (which honestly have changed more due to my queerness than my religious affiliation). i feel like, at least partially, my religious exploration has been more of finding what framework best fits with what i believe and what i deem important to me. so i suppose in that way, i'd say beliefs aren't a choice but religion is
but what about the beliefs in my life that have changed according to some intentional impulse on my part, like that trans people are weird or the belief that statism is the best way to organize a population? i deconstructed and unlearned that, a practice that was definitely not by accident, but it also wasn't as easy as flipping a switch and going "i don't have any transphobic thoughts anymore." i think as easy and tempting as it is to say that hatred and bigotry is a choice, i don't think i agree. it's a choice whether or not to be an asshole to someone. but even still, the framework of who you should care about if you've been an asshole to may be something more inherited
i honestly could keep going, but i've already written enough. i'll go with this: for many people, their religion is what they grew up knowing. however, i would argue that most people have enough access to information about other frameworks that they probably made some sort of decision to continue on the path they were already on (those who are staying within a certain religion because of force are not who i'm talking about here). so in that way, religion is a choice. however, i do not think that religion and belief are necessarily the same thing. i think beliefs are more fundamental and that religion is what allows us to put those indescribable gut feelings into words. i think beliefs are changeable, and that one can choose to put in the work to change a belief, but i think it is much harder for me to classify beliefs as 100% a choice as well
bc i just love studying talmud so much, i'm going to complicate your question even more by moving us out of the realm of personal decisions. i think it's interesting to note that my being jewish technically won't be my decision. when the time comes i will go before a beis din, a group of three rabbis, who will ask me questions and will ultimately have the authority to say that i cannot complete my conversion. additionally, the rabbi overseeing my conversion also has the ability to say i'm not ready to go before a beis din, or to say she doesn't feel comfortable overseeing my conversion anymore and turn me away. it's also an interesting complicator that my conversion likely will not be considered valid by some (namely, orthodox people) who only consider orthodox conversions to be valid. same goes for those who are known as patrilineal jews, or jews with a jewish father and a non-jewish mother (yes this framework does struggle under queer identities and relationships but we don't have time to get into that LMAO). currently, orthodox and conservative (no relation to the school of political thought) judaism only recognize jewishness as being able to be passed down matrilineally, and as such there are many people who have lived their entire lives as jews, and yet have needed to undergo some sort of conversion ritual to be considered jewish by a certain group

The pushback to the term "cultural Christianity" from atheists is real odd to me because, as someone who has been an atheist since 13, only ever went to church a handful of times never with my own family (made a note never to sleep over at that friends house on a Saturday again bc I HATED church it smelled like shit, was boring, pews are uncomfortable as fuck, and the religious people I knew were all wildly misogynistic and I've never been here for being told I was less of a person for being Born Like This), and generally had no actual connection to Christianity in a meaningful way but still only knows Christian mythology, has been steeped in Christian values I had to untangle, and my religious understandings are still deeply Christian.
Like Ive never paid attention to the bible, church, Jesus, Christian teachings, or whatever but if you asked me about any religion the one I'll reliably know the most about is Christianity. I don't know why atheists are offended by being called culturally Christian because they have bad blood with the religion because like sorry bruh that doesn't mean you're less indoctrinated by Christian values if the culture you grew up in is predominantly Christian. In fact I'd say that religion being this ubiquitous in the culture regardless of anyone's consent to exactly ONE religion being shoved down our throats is reason to team up with other religious folks who ALSO don't like being constantly evangelized to by the culture at large, not a reason to throw a fit because you don't like being tied to a religion that is so ingrained into the culture that shit like "oh my god" and "Jesus Christ" are common expressions of surprise regardless of how atheist you are. Like surely I'm not the only atheist to notice the shocking amount of cultural religious shit that works it's way into my life and speech despite having not set foot in a church since I was like 10, and I can't remember the last time I was in one before that.
Idk man cultural Christianity seems like a pretty damn useful term to describe my relationship with a religion I never fully bought into and then actively rejected as a child yet still hold weird connections to and knowledge of just because Christianity is so baked into the culture I grew up in like it or not. If you want to be mad, be mad at the Christians who stole your freedom from religion from you, not usually religious minorities who discuss cultural Christianity and how it damages them too.
#winters ramblings#like breh i HATE how much christian bullshit ive had to detangle from my life. like the idea of sin and punishment for example#id say a LOOOOOT of discussion regardless of religion leans towards a Christian understanding of the pridon system#prison is basically a recreation of hell on earth where youre supposed to go to burn off your sins in your 10x10 cell#now i gotta say not all Christians buy inti the styke of punishment and sin i know normal well adjusted Christians#but for the most part a HUGE portion of shit comes with a helping of cultural Christianity. but prison is probably the best example#hell any discussion of punishment relies on a distinctly christian flavor of 'atone for your sin or be doomed forever"#repubs bitch about so called cancel culture but thats just how Christians act towards sin lmao they do it too#except they choose shit you didnt ACTIVITY make a choice about like being gay to condem you to hell.#cant be mad that twitter cancels people for small shit like a crap joke if you actively subscribe to the same belief system#and are only mad bc that logic is applied to YOU now. anyway i could do without this logic in activist spaces#or ANY spaces being doomed forever over sin is only one way to do Christianity. like damn can the ones who like#rehabilitation and justice and helping the poor at least be the ones in charge??#regardless ive never been a Christian and barely have a meaningful connection to the religion. whuch is why i find it rather salient#that i still have this deep connection and knowledge of something i ACTIVELY REJECTED at 13#do you know HOW MUCH i had to have been indoctrinated into this shit with as LITTLE of a connection to organized religion as i do??#the fact i have ANY connection at all is kind if fucked honestly it shows you really REALLY do not get to choose#your religious leanings unless youre actively ANOTHER RELIGION BESIDES CHRISTIAN otherwise tough tiddy#you get to be Christian By Default and i don't like it either. but when i see jewish people talking about it#i know EXACTLY what they mean because i dont like my connection to a religion i never believed in and rejected at 13 either#i don't like that my choice to reject Christianity was stolen from me by such a ubiquitously christian culture#im not mad at jews for pointing this out im mad at christians for stealing my freedom of choice

❤️ What is your favorite line that you’ve written in a fic?
oh lord idk. uhhhh let's go with stuff I've written recently:
Blue sniffled again. Hiccupped one last time. His tears were drying up, and his little voice said, "S'okay, Daddy."
That's three sentences but whatever my writing style is short and choppy so I'm counting it.
📗 Do you want to write something outside of fanfiction? If so, what about?
I've had ideas. Not sure if I'll ever follow through though haha. I like fanfiction because you're a lot more free in what you can do (which sounds funny because you're working within the constraints of an existing story, but having that foundation already existing means you can go all kinds of places while skipping the setup).
A lot of the original fiction ideas in my head deal in false religions and false gods, and also gay stuff. "bisexual atheist project less challenge, difficulty: impossible"
like a woman who is an attendant to the oracle of the harvest goddess, who becomes quite startled when one night her lady comes to her in a fit and tells her that her visions from the harvest goddess have been a ruse all along and it's true for all the oracles but this time she did get a real vision from a god that isn't even supposed to exist, and suddenly she has to decide what she believes in the midst of a new paradigm where she and her lady are wanted for blasphemy
of the boy who commits a crime in his highly religious underground cult, sheltered in a bunker for 200 years following the nuclear holocaust on the surface above, who is sentenced to take care of the blasphemers who are kept in cells below the colony, where he commits the worst crime of all (talking to the blasphemers) and learns that one of them is locked up for asking dangerous questions like "we didn't harvest enough potatoes from our greenhouse to feed everyone in the colony but if everything is supposed to be dead on the surface than where did the extra potatoes come from"
wow definitely a lot of themes of blasphemy happening here lol
👑 Do you like writing short fics or long fics?
I'm a one-shot writer cursed with long fic ideas ;;
Thanks for the ask!

how are you able to celebrate spirituality without feeling omniscient judgement of your every action? i realize that sounds like an accusatory question out the door LOL but i definitely don't mean it that way. it's moreso like...i spent so much of my life until recently feeling like i wasn't allowed to enjoy or be myself in my own privacy without feeling like i was being watched and weighed. i don't actively practice or pursue spirituality at this time, but i was raised into some incredibly unhealthy christian dynamics, which i think can definitely find relation in my prior mentioned struggles. even so, when it feels healthy and of your own volition, do you feel as though this is a struggle?
i love this thoughtful question, thankyou..putting under read more due to my lengthy answer x]
for me, ive mentioned before but i was raised by atheist parents. so as i built my own opinions about god, i was never set on the heaven/hell dichotomy, i never felt that god has this weirdly specific list of things u can and cant do. i feel that god wants us to be imperfect & make mistakes so that our souls can grow n expand towards our highest purpose thru many lifetimes of lessons.
that feeling of surveillance, i actually started to worry about it a lot after my dad died, even tho i had no real concept of spirituality at this point cus i was a kid. I just like, started to perceive that he saw everything, and since i was being rebellious teen at the time i felt a lot of guilt for years. Altho once i started learning more i began to feel that angels will never judge you, only love & understand.
Still i try rly hard to live with integrity. and im no angel but i strive to be the best version of Me. & a big part of that, imo, is acting "right" behind closed doors. for example, if someone is talking badly to me about a friend behind their back, am i going to stand up for them? or just let it slide because they're not there to hear it? small things like this may seem like nothing in the moment but they cld blow up in ur face later n u wish u just did the kind thing. i believe small lessons like this will keep repeating until ur soul learns.
one time many years ago i withdrew like $100 from an atm then just totally spaced out & walked away before i grabbed my money. the next person ran after me like "oh my god you forgot your money!" , i was so stunned. like this stranger fully couldve just walked away with a free $100 & i wldnt of even noticed until later. there was no prize waiting for them by doing the right thing. he just did it w no apprehension.
it shldnt be about trying to appease god, but earnestly trying to help & empower your fellow man. not out of guilt or shame, or fear of punishment, but out of the kindness in your heart, pure love. to me, god is just love, the trials are for the purpose of love, so i dont stress too much abt feeling watched. it makes me feel less lonely in a way.
thanks again for the question and i'm sorry about the trauma from your upbringing :( i hope u can heal and please dont put too much pressure on yourself to be perfect, there is no punishment coming for you, whatever you're doing right now is exactly where you;re supposed to be. <3

I don't care what you say, when the conservative Catholic christian tells me "I'll pray for you" it's just like. Fucking annoying. You know I'm atheist. It's honestly really disrespectful. I don't care if it's "with good intentions" (and most of the time it is not). Would YOU like if when we disagreed on something I told you “oh I'll do rituals to Satan so that he can put you in the right (=mine) path again”? I don't think so. People think that atheism isn't a belief, people (a lot of Christians) believe that they're untouchable and they can say whatever they want about atheism.
"Actually I'm atheist, yeah"
"oh god, I'll pray for you."
"Oh ok well I'll burn your car because you know. I personally believe it brings good luck. If you get angry at me for this you're an oppressor btw because I'm doing it for your good, you'll see. When you're dead."

I just realized Apollo has a LOT of atlas motif in their design for someone who didn't know about the atlas. (At least I don't think they did my memory is dogwater)
Like imagine someone who dresses like the pope and has never heard of Christianity
firstly i must apologize to you for how long you had to wait for a reply. a number of things had happened (dw they were wonderful things :))

apollo you're very funny
apollo knew about the concept of the atlas but they didn't believe in its existence. they were an atlas atheist!! until it stood right before them and gave them an existential crisis. that was what it took for apollo to become an atlas believer.
apollo probably didn't have the option of choosing bodies after whatever incident they had BECAUSE THEY WERE WOUNDED TO THE POINT OF HAVING TO TRANSFER BODIES THEY WERE INCAPACITATED TO NEAR DEATH.
whoever chose their body for them clearly didn't consult their personal tastes, as they're not an atlas fan at all. the one(s) who picked out the body clearly was though. and there's no other race as atlas crazy - and technologically advanced - as the korvax. so yeah i think the korvax were responsible for their body!
They must've associated apollo's travellerness with the atlas and thought 'oh a traveller! highly esteemed being sent by the atlas itself, oh how wounded you are. We (the convergence) shall place you in a body befit of your divine status.' after the body transfer apollo probably did not acknowledge their thoughtfulness. they went a bit overkill with the atlas motifs on apollo who couldn't even appreciate them that much.
it's like if jesus didn't know god was his dad (for analogy reasons) but everyone else did, and they gifted him all kinds of christianity related objects because he's god's special little boy. A lot of things would go right over jesus's oblivious head (who for analogy reasons isn't a christian and has also never heard of christianity either).
and after their existential crisis due to the atlas apollo might've started looking at their atlas motifs a bit differently. maybe it's only then that they finally understood the artist's intentions. also i'm very sure their body was custom made (without consulting them first) because who has bodies like that casually sitting around in stock??? they may not have consulted apollo for their fashion tastes but they probably did think very hard on the design to make it truly befit of apollo's divine status as a traveller.

What's something you've been enjoying thinking about recently? Could be DID/system-related or not, whatever sounds fun to answer.
I made a post about it before but was talking to wife about it again last night. The fact that in the 18th and 19th century the study of dissociation, or auto-hypnotic ability, was this huge broad category of medicine, psychology, physics, and spirituality that branched off and began to specialise. Mesmerism, hysteria, Spiritism, and Psychoanalysis were all knocking on different doors to the same house and in Europe, Freud won with his bullshit fantasy model, but in Brazil, Spiritism really took hold.
To the point where there are Spiritist Hospitals that along with psychiatrists and nurses employ mediums that tell you if your mental health ailment could be due to spirits hanging around from past life trauma and help you to release them. Like the "symptoms are not explained by cultural practices such as mediumship" in the DSM for psychiatric disorders is there in part because mediumship is so prevalent and largely harmless (if not actually beneficial) in Brazilian culture.
Like, if you wanna get all purely scientific then you can explain it as traumatic events getting warped by the autohypnotic brain into something that seems like it happened to someone else in a past life which makes it easier to process in a similar way to how IFS asks you to distance yourself from your parts so that you may be your most helpful self in resolving internal conflict, but I do wonder what the world would have been like if Freud hadn't abandoned dissociation as a model and instead developed it to incorporate the strange way in which traumatic memory can present in some patients.
Would we have have explored the dissociative ability of the healthy mind? Understood how hysteria and the placebo effect really worked? Discovered endogenic plurality as a genuine psychological model? Or even developed more accepted spiritual models of Psychotherapy? I mean like half of my therapists have had spiritual beliefs but it's always discussed in a hushed tone like "oh you're a friend of Glenda Goodwitch too?" We know that culture can have a strong influence on how a mental health condition can present, and I don't think it's very helpful to try and view those presentations through a western lens, they're their own thing, but we can imagine how our own lens might have been different.
I dunno, I guess I just wonder if we're denying some core aspect of human nature when we try to be completely scientific sans spiritual, if we have been wholly rejecting techniques that have worked for centuries or millennia on the basis of being spiritual instead of being curious about their real world practical uses.
What was that scene in Contact? Where Matthew Mchorbalorba asked Jodie Forrester if she believed in God because 96% of the population believes in one God or another so it would be very misrepresentative to send an atheist to go meet sky daddy
