the burnout is real lads . . . . .
#which is to say that i came home and just stared at the wall for roughly 2 hours instead of completing my documents#it was at least validating to get to talk to one of my coworkers today#and hear that they're just as burnt out as i am#and usually have to sit in the parking lot for 4 to 5 minutes before they come in because they just don't want to be here that badly#and it feels hard to admit because this is typically thought of as a passion driven profession#and it's like#neither of us have lost the passion for it???#it's not that we hate our jobs#it's just that we both feel like. we're putting in increasingly more effort week by week but we're just.#no longer getting results.#i mentioned how i feel like my faith in my ability to do this kind of work has just plummeted to zero#not at all helped by my mentor constantly pushing me to go faster and faster but then getting mad when my presentations go poorly#because i went faster or reduced the amount of material or cut the Q and A section down 10 minutes#i just feel . . . . . tired . . . . . . . . . . .#i still need to write three planning documents for tonight#one of which needs to be Really Good because my direct supervisor will be looking at it#but my god#i just want to sleep for three days straight and then stare at a wall for another three#i'm so close to the end though . . . . .#just another 15 of these documents (including the three from tonight) and that about covers my internship#of course then there's also the seminar work and the group project and all the fancy official employment documents#and. the portfolio project (a man screams in agony)#but god . . . . . . . .#so close . . . . . . . .#so close . . . . . .#once i'm free from the portfolio it's back to zola work and THEN . . . . . . . . . .#i can finally have a substantial mental health break for the first time since last may ;;; _____ ;;;

How To Make Full Use of Networking Events
Networking events and conferences are great because you get to meet and learn from experts but also connect with peers. I recently attended one and I wanted to share things I wish I had done before and what I learned.
1. Define an Objective
You have to determine why exactly you want to go to the event. Are you looking for a career change? A job? Advice on how to be better at your current job? How to tackle some issues in your start up? Networking? Make a list of the reasons.
2. Research
You need to research the speakers extensively. Go over their Wikipedias, LinkedIns and other social medias. Read their company websites from top to bottom. If they’ve released a book, take a look at the summary and read the reviews. Read some of their published articles.
Take this time to prepare at least 3 questions per speaker. Try to make at unique and interesting as possible, don’t ask the usual generic ones.
3. Business Cards
Definitely carry business cards. Make sure that your email, LinkedIn is mentioned clearly. Even if you work at a different company, that doesn’t matter- show your job title on the business card. Better yet, ask your HR if they can give you business cards as you would be promoting their company through your event. If you’re a student, I’d recommend you make a portfolio website of your internships/ project/ past work/ volunteer work/ hobbies/ interests.
4. Actually Talking
During the event, don’t be shy to ask questions. It doesn’t matter whether the rest of the audience thinks they’re stupid. You have spent your money to come there for your gain. Make full use of it. Ask questions. Meet the speaker after the event. Thank them for the insight, introduce yourself, ask them questions related to your objective of coming to the conference. Exchange business cards.
5. Utilising Coffee Breaks
Coffee and lunch breaks are a great way to talk to people. You may feel shy or awkward to talk to new people, but there’s very high chances that they feel the same way. You can start off by asking someone how they heard about the event, what they thought of the speaker, or pass a remark on the question they asked the speaker. Keep in mind that if the event has multiple speakers, there could be a chance that you’re talking to a speaker, even if you don’t recognise them… so be on your best behaviour.
6. Questions
Ask questions that are beneficial to you. During my conference, we had a women-leaders panel. An audience member asked the speakers how they divided their work between family and work. The speakers looked visibly annoyed at the question - because how generic is that?
Ask questions that could help you grow. If you’re in marketing, ask about their tried and tested marketing strategies. If you’re an early stage founder, ask them how they sourced their VC. If you’re struggling with time management, ask the speakers how they manage. Ask the questions for YOUR own benefit.
You can ask difficult questions but make sure you do it respectfully and tactfully. Best to start with a compliment and then ease into the question.
7. Dressing
Business casual, unless mentioned otherwise. What this means: blazer/ jackets/ trousers/ pencil skirts/ shirt/ co-ord sets/ no sneakers.
It doesn’t matter what other people wear. The way you present yourself is your brand. It also shows the respect you have for the other person - you respect them enough to not come shabbily dressed.

Fun Stuff this week
🍻 met up with my bestie @muakrrr <3 it was a stressful tuesday so meeting him for lunch was super comforting! he bought this cute purple drink and I got myself some ginger ale and the waiter served us the wrong drinks (gender and expectations something something) and it was amusing to watch them get confused when we corrected them 🎂 mom's b'day this week!! went out for dinner with her!! 🛒 went shopping with relatives who I haven't seen in years. bought myself a book! (rip my bookshelf) ☕ went out for coffee and dinner with my girlies (the same besties who I exchanged mugs with). we're trying to spend as much time together as possible before we leave to different countries for our masters 🎮 continuing the beginner's guide 📺 ongoing: Marry my Husband, Cherry Magic Th, Last Twilight 📺 binged: KinnPorsche The Series
📻 This week's soundtrack
Love Wins All by IU (been crying over this music video for days now. it's beautiful) KinnPorsche theme by Slot Machine: Kinn's theme [aka Phiang Waichai; TH] | Porche's theme [aka Free Fall; Eng] (first of all this is one of the catchiest theme songs to exist second only to SPECIALZ aka the JJK s2 op i'm also particularly losing my mind over how the two themes are love letters to the main characters from each other... the narrative parallels of it all are driving me insane sldkhlaksjkshs) Dum Dum by Jeff Satur + the Live Unchained version where his vocals are heavenly (maybe im so drawn to this song because the chorus is similar to the melodic motifs of the KPTS themes/soundtrack, either way, the show introduced me to him and god. I've been voraciously consuming his discography.) Ghost by Jeff Satur (on repeat all week. thoroughly obsessed with this song- the lyricism, his voice, the storyline in the MV, his acting, everything. wow. truly.)
---
[Jan 22 to 28 ; week 4/52 || I. love. my. internship. like. I have been having the most fun time problem solving and troubleshooting. it's also super satisfying to see the outcome of my code. it's been a while since I used python (I've been coding on C) so I forget that python has a lot of inbuilt functions that would do the same tasks I inadvertently entrust my nested loops with, and finding out about them is always so joyous (although it means I have to scrap off several chunks of code). i am a bit annoyed though, because the other intern isn't really doing any work that we're entrusted with so I'm having to carry the team and it's taking me too much time. but oh well. I've suggested we split tasks from next week, hopefully that'll make things better.
I've also been procrastinating a lot when it comes to my masters applications and it really hit me this week when I had to run to uni several times to get things approved and completed. Now that I'll get to work from home I need to set up a proper schedule to get application work completed wayy in advance. also need to resume my GRE prep from next week.]

Hi so I just wanted to ask how did hotshot confess his feelings to wedge and how did wedge respond?
Hmm that's a good question!! You'd be surprised to know it's the other way around for me :P !!
Tumblr media
In my headcanon they don't really confess when in their training era, more like they dance around those feelings in that matter, teasing over here, friendly competition over there, "best bots forever :D!!!" and so on, they're more focused on graduating and playing in their spare time tbh
As you know in my au or fan timeline they have to part ways due to Wedge being on his internship away in Cybertron and Hotshot getting busy with real work at the academy and training recruits along with the senior bots
They really miss eachother, if Best Bots Forever told us anything it's that they cannot be 5 feet away from eachother without sulking and moping. And both of them being busy with their own projects and life ends up getting them used to being without the other
Fast forward to the end of term of Wedge and the other recruits' internships and returning once more to the academy. Wedge is happy to see his friend again and catch up, then Hotshot enters the room and it's game over; it's not like love at first sight or whatever, but seeing the much more mentally mature (do I even need to mention pretty--) Hotshot scrambles his thoughts about him. New thoughts he never even considered now occupy like 129 GBs of his processing unit.
We got pinning, SO, SO MUCH PINNING, YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH I LOVE SLOW BURNS
Hotshot is still a popular bot ofc, and now that he has a full team to share his workload with, he gets back to his habit of loving attention from strangers and being swoon over by other bots !!
This takes a toll on Wedge's confidence, as everything does apparently, and develops a serious case of heartache.
The confession isn't neat and pretty by all means, Wedge end up breaking apart in front of him and probably blurts it out not even noticing. At least not until everything goes silent and Hotshot is just deadpan looking at him
Hotshot is,,, conflicted... He doesn't know what to do. He's unsure, just like in Best Bots Forever he was unsure of his path as a rescue bot. But if it's not Wedge, then who? They work like two spinning gears, they understand eachother on a higher level than most people in their lives, two support beams to a stable structure. Wedge is his first healthy friendship and he definitely thought his feelings towards him were purely platonic, but he ends realizing they are romantic as well.
They are literally two dudes learning about themselves and enduring life, together as a unit, and that's the main thing Wedgeshot has going on
Sorry if this is floppy, I'm aromantic so my vision on romance and attraction is not the same as most people, I just enjoy making them dance around eachother, and basing everything else on what I've experienced, end of transmission

Ive finally made a sandrock OC (KIND OF) I havent just stolen the design of and put somewhere else. and I really want to talk about her. So here she is.
Tumblr media
I wanted to give some lore to this character Qi mentions 3 times
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
AND now shes in my brain, so Ill say some things about her:
She wanted to be a biologist but ended up going into the same type of research job Qi's in because it paid more
Qi and Bugs went to college together and ended up working pretty closely on a few projects, maybe even had internships/jobs at the same place for a while before Qi moved to Sandrock.
She got the nickname Bugs because she would always pick up random bugs in elementry school and the name just kind of stuck. She prefers it to her actual name (which I have not thought of yet because names are hard)
Qi says that they are rivals, but I dont think thats actually true given how much they talk. I think its a lot more like a one sided rivalry where Qi has decided shes his rival and she just kinda plays along because its fun, but theyre actually just friends (not that Qi would admit that, but Bugs refers to and thinks of him as a friend)
Although she still works in Vega 5, she doesnt particularly love it there. To her, she just has nowhere else to go and the pay and lifestyle of Vega 5 is too much to resist, especially for someone wihtout that many goals.
Qi managed to get her into Gungham and so they have amazing conversations that only come from ADHD-Autism friendships where both people have the same hyperfixation. (I speak from experience when I say its the best thing)
She visits sandrock sometimes because she doesnt know where else to go when she has stacked up vacation days.
She gets very annoyed whenever people dont know what they're talking about, hence her friendship with Qi not really being an issue, because both of them are like this and they both thrive off of each others intellectual energy.
ALSO. Some things about her personal relationships to people in Sandrock:
Her and Grace are dating, mostly because I want Grace to have a girlfriend so bad (I am so starved for sapphic relationships you dont understand). They have been rotating in my brain SO MUCH, so I'll talk about them. This is largely because it would be SO FUNNY.
Their relationship started because Bugs would regularly visit Sandrock, so she would see Grace a lot. Since the Blue Moon Saloon isnt really that busy, they would talk to eachother quite a bit. After a few trips of both of them talking, Bugs decides it would be funny to mess with Qi whenever her and Qi eat dinner later that night, and she thinks the funniest way to do that is by Grace hitting on her at this dinner. Make it real awkward for Qi. I plan on making a comic for this actually SO we will see if it actually gets done. If it does it will be so funny you dont even know (it definetly will not be thats the brainrot talking.)
After that, they meet up outside the Blue Moon Saloon to toast to their success of making Qi extremely confused, they walk around sandrock and sit at the oasis a while. Nothing happens that night, but they both come away from it as deeper friends and a little crush. Not in like, a way that is that noticable, or a way either of them intend on pursuing, but a way that definelty exists. Neither of them are stupid, and both of them tend to do a good amount of introspection, so they both pick up on this and it changes the dynamic a little, but in a good way.
As time goes on, Bugs makes more and more visits to Sandrock, to see Qi of course, but the reason increasingly becomes to see Grace as well. They both flirt with eachother a bit here and there, until Grace asks her out on a date and it ends up becoming a thing. Still thinking of details there BUT! They will be thought of, dont worry.
NOW, For what this relationship means for them both and their similarities and a couple differences:
For both of them, this is the first romantic relationship they have had that really feels like the other person can keep up with them. Both of them are super smart, and they both sort of have unfollowed dreams.
They are also both workaholics discontent with the circumstances they're in, and I feel like they bond a lot over that.
BOTH OF THEM ARE VERY SILLY. Grace, especially if youre dating her, uses a lot of very silly language. Like whenever youre dating, her greeting is "Hey good lookin, what ya got cookin?" She has many many silly lines and I would reccomend reading her dialogue page if you havent already read it all the way through like 3 times. Bottom line is, shes goofy. And Bugs is also goofy. Not in exactly the same way, but like she calls Qi a chatty cathy, thats goofy. AND SOMETHING GRACE WOULD DO IF HER AND QI WERE FRIENDS IN THAT WAY. They would be a very annoying couple and I find that extremely funny especially in the context of them spending a good amount of time with Qi, who probably doesnt pick up on it half the time.
Both of them are the type to distract from their inner turmoil with humor. If you have gone on a playdate with grace or read her entire dialogue page, you would know she does this a non-zero amount of times, quite commonly in fact. Bugs does the same type of thing, but she does tend to talk a lot less than Grace.
Bugs is an introvert unlike Grace, but she can read people surprisingly well. Not anywhere near as well as Grace, of course, but still pretty well.
Both have jobs that end up with them being relatively isolated from personal connections. For Bugs, shes working in a team with a lot of people she doesnt really like, for Grace, she has to keep quiet about her job for the most part. This leads to them having an interesting dynamic in which both of them dont really know how to navigate personal, unguarded relationships super well. Bugs hasnt had any close friends in a long time, and Grace cant turn off her agent brain, oftentimes getting a lot more from Bugs than Bugs would want her to. I have a real thing for relationships where one person is quite guarded and the other person can read them super well, and Bugs and Grace fit this dynamic very well in both directions. Bugs tends to read Grace more than she expects too, not by a crazy amount or anything, but she does catch Grace offguard occasionally, just because Grace tends to drop it more often without realizing it around Bugs.
They have the same sort of (aspiring) archeolegist and researcher dynamic Grace and Qi have (That I touched on here) but romantic so. I think thats fun personally, because its a cool sort of combining of forces. It also hits a bit different from Grace's and Qi's simply because Bugs is a lot more like Grace personality wise.
A couple other relationships in sandrock:
Her and Zeke get along. She visits Zeke sometimes, because of her interest in biology. And I just think they would get along. Not just because she likes plants but I also think she would appricate how Zeke is very knowlegable on what he does as well as desert farming in general.
She doesnt like the church very much (for the innate ideological differences that come with being a researcher), but she still has a laugh with Dan-Bi occasionally.
I like the idea of her getting along with Fang a bit. I think she has at least looked at some of what she uses to make medicine and is like "oh wow thats genius!"
I think she would have a very fun time messing with Yan (because Yan is literally so funny idc what anyone else says I love him so much) I dont think she would like him, but I think she would have fun talking to him every now and then just to prod him (which Yan ofc doesnt notice) for goofs.
I love the idea of her getting along with Unsuur. I cannot explain why. But I think they would be drinking buddies.
Some design notes and how she dresses when shes not in a lab coat:
I had to give her a long lab coat because thats a demographic severely underepresented in sandrock
Her shirt color is pretty similar to Qi's undershirt, it just felt like it fit. Its also half untucked like Qi's, but Bugs does it because she thinks it looks good while Qi does it because hes tired. I dont really know how to draw that sort of distinction, but just know that its there.
Her belt buckle is gold while Qis is silver
Her hairtie is dark blue, Qis tie is light blue. Theres not a whole lot to that I just thought it was neat personally.
Her fashion sense tends to be pretty casual, usually hoodies and shorts while shes in her apartment and pretty normal streetwear outside of it. I dont think that she wears as many belts as the average Sandrock or Portia citizen. Since we havent been to Vega 5, I cant say for sure what the normal fashion sense is like, but based off of Qi and Petra, who are more like the average Vega 5er, and what is known about the culture, I assume regular dress tends to be more busniess casual-formal. I dont count Merlin, who was so eccentric she got kicked out of Vega 5, Or Mint, who seems overly casual, in this assesment. However, Bugs dresses in whatever is slightly more casual than the normal Vega 5 streetwear. Not as casual as Mint, but definetly not formal. She's kind of done with Vega 5's general busniess culture, not done enough to leave, but done enough that she doesnt really care what she wears off the clock if that makes sense.
That is all for my unhinged ramblings. I have a lot of ideas about her and maybe I will actually do something with those, so I thought I should introduce her.

I Dig You 5
Chapter 5 out of 8
Robin is tentatively excited for her first internship: an archaeological dig in the Netherlands, where she has been studying. However, when she gets there, Steve is there too. The dick of their uni that she now has to work with. Great. But being stuck digging for six weeks makes people bond and maybe he isn’t too bad. Maybe he can be her friend.
AKA an archaeology interns, modern, enemies-to-friends stobin au

Chapter 5: Party
They don’t really talk much about their encounter with Dustin on Thursday, except for mentioning him in their daily reports. Steve luckily remembered to snap a picture of the sherd they showed him, so they can reference the find number.
However, the kid becomes a topic of conversation when he shows up again the next day. This time sans d’Art, but with a gaggle of friends.
At that point they’re digging on the other side of put seven, which is further from the road and next to the forest. It’s a nice area and she is very jealous of people who can afford to live there (and she’s heard colleagues complain about how the government isn’t investing in starter homes, which further cements that she won’t ever afford it).
The lunch break is nearing when the group of teens comes stumbling out of the forest, since they’re no longer right up along the road. Dustin’s voice is the first thing that gets their attention, exclaiming what is likely the Dutch equivalent of ‘Found it!’
They all look up to see him with four other kids, two brunet boys, a black boy and a girl with bright orange hair. Everyone with varying levels of excitement and interest.
Robin immediately looks over to Steve to see his reaction. He looks pleasantly surprised, though also a little unsure, glancing between the group and their fellow archaeologists. Robin gets it, she also doesn’t know how okay it was for Steve to have given a lecture yesterday.
It looks like Astrid is about to call out to the kids, but before she can, Dustin yells again: “Steve!” and waves excitedly.
“You know them?” Astrid asks him, confused.
“Uhm, I kinda told Dustin – the kid there – about archaeology yesterday, because he was interested and told him he could come back if he had more questions,” Steve confesses, looking a little embarrassed.
Robin decides to be a good friends and backs him up by piping up: “He leashed his dog. And didn’t touch anything.”
“That’s great,” Astrid smiles. “We always try to do outreach projects. There would have been an open weekend on this dig if we could’ve organize it with the construction. You can go talk to them some more, if you’d like. It’s nearly lunch anyway.”
“You’re sure?” Steve checks, less tense than before but still anxious.
“Yeah, we’re not finding anything until the afternoon. It’s always right before going home,” Astrid jokes, shooing him away.
Robin can see Steve wants to, but she knows the feeling of being told it’s okay, only for someone to get mad about not helping. So she goes for the best friend award as she grabs his hand and starts to drag him away, saying: “Come on, dingus. I promised them bone facts,” her own anxiety being overridden to help Steve.
As they come closer, Steve fully relaxes, since they’re not being whistled back. He grins and waves as he greets: “Dustin! How are you, man?”
“Steve, tell Mike about the pots. He doesn’t believe they’re cool,” Dustin demands immediately, motioning to one of the brunet boys – the one that is looking sour – to indicate, which one is Mike.
“They’re not cool, they’re boring,” Mike rolls his eyes. “We kunnen ook naar El gaan.”
“He wants to go visit our friend, but she has had a brainshaking and can’t have many visitors,” the red haired girl explains, the last part pointedly directed to Mike, who pouts and crosses his arms.
“Brainshaking?” Robin repeats the word, able to figure out they likely mean concussion, but still thrown off by the word choice and interested.
“Yeah, she hit her head pretty hard and had to have like surgery. They shaved her hair off and everything,” Dustin says.
“Oh, she has a concussion?” Steve asks.
Robin adds in a mutter: “Sounds more like head trauma to me.”
“Concussion?” Now it’s Dustin turns to repeat the word with a cocked head.
“Ik denk dat ‘concussion’ hersenschudding is,” the black boy tells his friend, connecting the dots between the new word and their conversation.
“Oh, yeah, I knew that,” Dustin says, likely not having known that.
“I hope she’s feels better soon,” Steve says, then swiftly moves on from the topic, by saying: “But I can only talk to you about archaeology or our boss will yell at us.” That last part is a lie, but Robin isn’t going to call him out on it. She is too awkward to talk to people about injured friends, she only sees injured people when they’ve been dead for centuries at least.
“Thank you,” the quieter brunet says softly and the others swiftly follow.
“Tell them about why pots are cool,” Dustin demands again, apparently not pleased that his friends aren’t excited about a topic he also wasn’t excited about until yesterday.
Steve happily obliges, catching the others up about why pots are cool in an abridged version of what he told Dustin yesterday. Dustin proudly throws his new knowledge around too, sometimes even interrupting Steve, but he doesn’t seem to mind. He’s good with all of the kids. It’s weird, Robin thinks.
They learn that the black boy is named Lucas, the redhead girl is Max and the other brunet is named Will. All of them warming up to the topic
“Wow, you’re like some sort of pots wizard,” Will says when Steve finishes up.
“I’m not really,” Steve chuckles a bit bashfully. “I like pots, but I’m actually quite bad with materials, though pots are the easiest for me. I am actually specialized in European prehistory.”
“You can do that?” Lucas asks.
“Yeah, most archaeologists specialize in either an area and period or a material,” Steve says. “It is too broad a field to know everything about everywhere at any time.”
“Another reason why Indiana Jones sucks as a movie,” Robin decides to also be part of the conversation, because these kids are quite fun. “I specialize in archaeosteology, or bones. I’m useless nearly everywhere else, but if you want fun bone facts, I’m here.”
“Can you give me a fun bone fact?” Max asks immediately, eyes lighting up.
Robin concludes that Max is one of the coolest people here and excitedly replies: “When sexing Dutch skeletons the mandible is disregarded, because they’re squarer than usual, so often indecisive or misleading. Though, I must say that sexing a skeleton is always a general indication and can be inconclusive and inaccurate, since people are so diverse. And on top of that, even if you have someone’s chromosomes, the complete data can have degraded over time and cultural factors also play a role when saying who the person was, who the skeleton belonged to.”
Most of the kids are now looking confused and Robin realizes that most people already have a hard time following her, these kids are doing it with an added language barrier.
“Uhm, sexing a body is when you say a person is female, male or intersex,” she attempts to explain it better without lingo, looking to Steve for guidance, who gives her an encouraging nod. “It’s not always easy and you can be wrong, because people are diverse- uhm not all the same,” she goes on. “Dutch jaws are often squarer, so they’re not used in the process, since they can be misleading.”
“That’s pretty cool,” Max says and it’s one of the first times someone has understood Robin and seemed interested. “What sort of places are used?”
“Of course there is like height, you also look at the hips, since you can see if a baby fits through it, and the sacrum – bone between the hips – as well as the jaw, like I said – and the skull. The skull has multiple things, but one you can actually feel is the external occipital protuberance, which is fancy speak for a bump on the back of your head. They tend to be more pronounced in male skeletons,” Robin says.
Hands shoot to the back of their heads as they try to feel it, Mike’s eyes growing wide as he exclaims: “I can feel it,” in an excited voice, despite his earlier sour attitude.
“Ik ook!” Lucas says, which Robin mentally translates to ‘me too’. Her Dutch is getting better she thinks.
“Laat me voelen!” Max demands, the tone of voice giving that part away, along with how she pulls Lucas’s hand out of the way to touch the back of his head, prodding around until she calls out with a grin, likely having found the spot.
“Do you have more bones facts?” Max asks Robin excitedly.
Robin can kind of get why Steve likes this. It’s fun to have willing listeners when talking about a subject you love and Robin sure does love the topic.
“Well, I especially like bones that are malformed, because of illnesses and injuries,” Robin answers, gauging if there is interest in that, smiling when Max lights up and nods, the others also crowding around to listen.
“Well, one that is always really crazy to find is people with a collapsed spine, which is a compression fracture occurs in the thoracic spine- uhm, the middle part just falls. It looks wild, it just folds in on itself. Google a picture one day,” Robin says. “Must be crazy painful.”
Some of the kids wince at the picture she paints, but Max is suitably fascinated.
However, Steve is making a tone it down gesture, so Robin goes on in a slightly different path: “But it can also be smaller, like when people have arthrosis- uhm, I don’t know the Dutch word.”
“Reuma, I think,” Steve pipes up, surprising Robin.
“Like when people get old and their bones hurt?” Dustin asks.
“Yeah,” Robin nods.
“Yeah, then reuma,” Dustin says.
“Okay, reuma then, you can see that, because the cartilage – the parts that isn’t bone, but bone-like, it’s also in your ears and stuff – it cushions the bones, but it can wear away and the pain is the raw bones rubbing together,” Robin says. “You can see when that happens. And it can say something about the person. Which is the whole point of looking at a skeleton. Though you do have to be careful with it.”
“Careful? Why would you be careful?” Mike asks. “If they have the weird bones, they have the weird bones.”
“Well, the chieftain of Oss was famously wrongly aged, due to it,” Robin answers, getting distracted as Steve flails. “You okay, dingus?”
“Oh, yeah, I just love the chieftain of Oss. It’s a beautiful grave,” Steve says. “But ignore me, tell us more about it.”
Robin shoots him a look, mentally noting to let Steve talk about the chieftain, before saying: “He had this vertebrae AKA a part of his spine that was fused weirdly. It has a fancy name that escapes me now, but it made researchers think that he was old, about 60 and obese. In reality, he’s in his 30s or 40s and very muscled, he would have had nothing more than a stiff back sometimes. The reason it’s associated with those people is because they just get more MRIs than the average person.”
“That’s pretty cool,” Max says, eyes shining.
“It is,” Robin agrees excitedly.
“Isn’t the chieftain of Oss that one guy that’s buried next to the highway? My grandparents once took me, something about local pride,” Lucas says.
“He is buried next to a highway, but he was there before the highway,” Steve says, sounding a little amused. “And it’s the most famous Dutch prehistoric burial. Very rich. It’s early Iron Age and a local adaptation of the Hallstatt culture from Austria.”
“Is it really that famous?” Lucas asks. “Didn’t seem that important. I mean, they built a highway over it, right?”
“That was an accident and it’s not over it-over it,” Steve says. “It was found in the 1930s, but they kind of lost the exact location until the late 90s and then the monument was made. But it’s pretty famous, even many non-Dutch archaeologist know about it.”
“And it was found nearby here?” Will asks.
“Yeah,” Steve answers with a smile. “You should read up on it and ask you history teacher about it, because it’s an interesting time. The Iron Age is often a little forgotten between the Bronze Age and the Romans, but it’s fascinating how metal influenced people. We actually are finding Iron Age stuff right here too.”
“You are?” Dustin asks, probably only now realizing that he never actually asked what they’re digging up right here next to his house.
“Yeah, so far it looks like we’re finding stuff from the Iron Age ‘till the Medieval Period, which is pretty common for sites in this area,” Steve says. “They might have been occupied in the Bronze Age too. There was a lot of site continuity, despite the amount of time that passed, people still knew the landscape. For example, the chieftain of Oss was laid to rest with a Bronze Age burial even though he dates from the early Iron Age.”
“They could just have forgotten and accidentally put it there,” Mike protests.
“Sure, they could, good observation,” Steve says and Robin sees Mike fight not to look pleased about that. “But the grave for the chieftain was slightly to the side as to not hit the Bronze Age grave and we see more of certain areas being used for burials for long times, so it’s more likely that people knew about places in the landscape that held cultural meaning. The same as how we are still respectful of churches, even though the religious population has declined.”
“I guess,” Mike mopes.
At that point they’re interrupted by Astrid again, who says: “Hey, not to interrupt the fun, but you two have to go eat, so we can go back to digging soon. We need all the hands, Bas found a well, so we might be fucked and stuck here if Jeroen decides to dig it out today. You always find something Friday afternoon.”
“Of course,” Robin immediately replies, intrigued by the well and not wanting to do something bad.
“We’ll be there soon,” Steve promises.
The kids are disappointed, but allow them to leave, excitedly claiming how they’re going to tell El all about it. Robin pities the girl, if she has a bad head injury and they’re still as excited when they get to her house, but she doesn’t comment on it.
They eat their lunch, lather themselves in sunscreen, then go back to digging.
Jeroen fortunately decides against attempting to coup the well that Friday, something that would have never worked out and would have forced them all to stay late. So, they tape a tarp over it instead and hope no one tries to play Indiana Jones over the weekend or decide to use the putten as biking course – two things, Robin is horrified to learn, that happen more often than they should.
They do try and get as much done in put seven as they can. It’s a pretty crowded put with a lot of sporen, so they likely won’t get to put eight before their internship is over. That makes Robin a little sad, if she’s honest. She liked this excavation more than she thought she would. And more surprising is that a large part of that is due to Steve. Who would have thunk? Not her.
It also makes her realize that this will be their last weekend together, before they split up for the rest of the break.
Steve probably has an expensive holiday lined up to go on after this and Robin will stay here, try to work as much as she can now that she has used up most of her holiday days to do this internship and try to survive the summer until classes start again. By then, they’re both doing their minors, maybe even at entirely different faculties and she won’t see Steve again until the second semester. At that point it is likely that Steve has forgotten all about this summer and their interactions will be like far off acquaintances.
The one person she’s had a click with, will slip through her fingers in about one week. Robin feels a little faint.
So, she’s a bit subdued as they finish up for the week and bike home. Steve gives her a look, but lets her have her quiet time, which she appreciates. She doesn’t know if she is up for talking, there is just so much spinning through her head.
At home they dump their shit and rock-paper-scissor the shower. Steve has a tell (he always does his in a rotating pattern, Robin doesn’t know how purposeful it is or if he even noticed), so she gets first dibs.
It also means that she is already writing her daily report when Steve comes to join her on the terrace, a routine the two have built where they peacefully write together. Robin usually enjoys this time, but today all she can think of is how she’ll miss this, making her sigh morosely.
Steve looks up again and he makes a soft noise, questioning and prompting. Robin sighs again and shakes her head. She doesn’t feel up to answering yet.
At her shake, Steve nods and finishes up his own report. He’s done before her, because she keeps being distracted by her own running brain, but Steve waits in the quiet without making her feel like he’s waiting on her and being annoyed. Companionable silence is a novel, but nice feeling that she hasn’t often had with friends. She’ll miss that.
When she finally clicks her laptop close with a decisive noise, glad to be done with it, Steve breaks the quiet, asking: “Do you feel up to an adventure?”
“An adventure?” Robin asks, uncertain. “What would this grant adventure entail?”
“I don’t feel like eating the food we have and I wanna go explore around town, eat cheap food at some diner and just wander around. My treat,” Steve says. “Just to get out of this place for a bit and be people. Playing tourist.”
“We technically are tourists,” Robin points out, but she’s smiling anyway.
“Maybe you are, I’m here on a student visa. I live here now,” Steve grins widely as if what he has just said is highly amusing. Robin is less loathe to admit than at the start that it is.
“Alright, dingus,” Robin rolls her eyes fondly. “Lets pretend to be people out there. I mean, if it’s your treat… Let’s go wild and have a party.”
“Oehh, already getting out of hand there, Buckley?” Steve jokes, eyes still crinkled.
“You haven’t seen me go crazy, Harrington,” Robin says, like she isn’t way too awkward to have ever gone crazy anywhere. Though she can’t help but feel joyful. It’ll be nice to get out and have some good memories before it all falls apart. Besides, this might help get her mind off it.

A/N:
You can’t tell me Max is not a bones girl, like she’s a weird girl in my heart already and she thinks bones are the coolest and I will not change my mind
I am having a lot of fun telling you all about archaeology, promise I’ll go back to the regularly scheduled plot soon xp
Also, here is my PSA: DO NOT touch the trenches/putten and DO NOT attempt archaeology! I know it does seem like it might be difficult, but there is so much knowledge in the context that so called ‘amateur archaeologists’ (I hate that term btw) ruin, so it’s lost forever. Please, please, do not touch a dig site or something you find on your own, but let professionals dig it up. I promise we’ll love you if you just notify local authorities about it <3

Examing episodes for the ‘Scratch is a wraith’ theory and details I collected. (Possible spoilers up to season 2, episode 5).
So I decided to rewatch some episodes of Ghost and Molly McGee that featured Todd for some careful observing. Especially regarding the whole ‘Scratch is a wraith theory.’
Season 1
Getting the Band(shell) back together
–Todd’s first appearance. We get to see a bit of the exterior of his house.
–This is the first time Molly meets Todd when she’s collecting money, but he just shuts the door in her face.
Monumental Disaster
–Todd thinks bringing cups to a potluck is a good idea. He seems happy about them or maybe the idea of being included…. Or getting to eat.
–Todd is white and as luck would have it he is seen next to other white townsfolk. However, it’s clear that his skin tone is grayish and a bit more on the pale side compared to the healthier complexions of those other townsfolk.
–The mayor snaps at Todd that cups don’t count. They didn’t count at his 8th birthday and they don’t count then. Apparently, the mayor knew Todd as a child. (This could be important in the future).
–Todd is pretty dejected at being rejected. He walks away… And Scratch pops up seconds later.
–Around the time this episode aired, it was easy to notice the similarities for a keen observer, but I assumed that Todd could have been a living relative/descendant of Scratch’s.
–Seen again with his cups when they reveal the new statue. Seems to be the only person who isn’t smiling/not happy. This is likely the second time he’s seen Molly.
The Festival of Lights
–Todd is seen with a book called Bill and Bob’s OK Adventure. It’s an obvious reference to Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure about two friends time traveling and meeting historical figures. (Hmm, two friends meeting historical figures…. That rings a bell). It’s likely he was going to buy it.
–As pointed out by another, Todd seems to be happy at the mention of food and is ready to grab some of Leah’s creations. (What is something that Scratch really likes again? That’s right, it’s food).
–“I’ll have one.” Do I detect a faint hint of eagerness? However, despite sharing the same voice actor, he doesn’t sound like Scratch here. (Unlike how it’s pretty obvious with Molly and Darryl’s bodies.)
– Unfortunately Scratch beats him to it.
Citizen McGee
–Can be seen in the crowd close to the reporter at the start of the episode. Yet another one of the few times he was in Molly’s presence.
The Internship
I lucked out in seeing this mentioned in regards to the wraith theory.
–This is perhaps one of the most notable times Molly is onscreen with Todd and the most they’ve seemed to interact together. He tells her to “Take my old junk” and we see the following from the pile:
The Bill and Bob book (guess he didn’t like the book or was he just done with it?)
Book on plants opened on a warning about needing to water them.
String of lights
Pyramid
Mason jar
Flashlight
Vase (?)
Toolbox or lunch box with what seems to be his name on it
Box with stars on it (That’s an interesting object)
Cup
Additional brown boxes
Rusty pliers and fork
Rusty pipe (I HOPE that’s all rust)
Basketball with a crown on top
Eyeball attached to spring (hmm, that’s an interesting object too)
Strainer
Some sort of cheese grater?
Opened lock
Robot that says “You are my best robot friend” (voice box was used to create a top secret project). The robot looks like a kid’s toy, looks like something a girl might have owned, and has a rare voice box.
–Actually he’s got a weird assortment of ‘junk.’ Some of it IS junk, but others seem to be possible clues.
–He doesn’t seem to be looking right at Molly and doesn’t seem to care much about what he’s doing.
–He’s also not that tall looking. In fact, he seems close to Molly’s height.
–“I’m Elated.” That line sounds apathetic and slightly irritated. His expression at this line IS similar to a face Scratch might make.
–Again I admit it’s tricky to tell that Dana Snyder is voicing him in this one, despite being credited as his VA (Dana Snyder was listed for additional voices (seperate from Scratch) in the Festival of Lights, but he wasn’t in this one). He doesn’t sound too much like Scratch. (But if the theory is correct, then it’s likely to keep Molly from recognizing his voice.)
–The ghost intern looks a little like a young Scratch, speaking of coincidences. (By the way, I’m going to be mad if the intern is Todd’s soul instead of Scratch.)
–If the theory is correct, then the pawn shop might become important later.
The jig is up
–I almost don’t need to go into too much detail on this one since this one is too obvious. But I will do a few:
–Scratch not only straight up says that Todd acts like he has no soul and is pretty miserable, but the two are seen in the exact same shot together.
–Also Todd’s reaction to getting his lunch down his pants is to just walk awkwardly away. He’s not even freaking out over it. (His behavior reminds me a little of Darryl’s soulless body just taking orders without question).
Season 2
I Wanna Dance with some Ollie
–Todd doesn’t appear in this one, but Scratch is seen reading the same Bill and Bob’s OK Adventure book. I find this detail HIGHLY interesting.
Davenport’s on Demand
–appears during the song and ordered a huge bag of ‘old grapes’ raisins that he has trouble holding up. Well… he’s able to hold the huge thing in the first place. (A few seconds later, the song switches right to Scratch. Kind of interesting that he’s sandwiched between a Molly part and a Scratch part.)
Of course, while Todd isn’t in Molly vs the Ghost World and Double Double Darryl and Trouble, they are very crucial for the theory–in fact, Molly vs the Ghost World was what lead to the creation of the theory. Both siblings’ soulless bodies are discolored and act pretty apathetic… sounds familiar? And of course, Darryl’s body just goes through life and does whatever he is told, as well as do things that aren’t entirely characteristic on his own, like helping the principal in one scene.
So my take on Todd is that he is someone who is apathetic and just goes through life. However, he does seem to want to be included in events at times, especially when food is involved. I admit, the scenes where he is seen with Molly are of interest especially since those are the few times I caught him talking. He’s also mostly been a background character, but some of the stuff I’m seeing adds up and does point to the theory being true. If not, he’s making for one hell of a good red herring.
If anyone has any more from any episodes that I missed to add to this, please let me know.

Making It As A Writer?
For alumni of-a-certain-age, it might be time to kick-back, smell the roses, stop frantically ripping open those monthly envelopes with the 401K numbers and start working on some of those “me” projects. Now, if your direction takes you to writing you must find the topic(s), the writing space, the time and the sticktoitiveness to complete that epic poem or your personal offering for the Great American Novel.
When it is finished, you would naturally sit back and wonder which you should pursue first: The financial reward or the artistic adoration? Perhaps you should meet Daina Smith (FCRH Class of 2008). You don’t know her-for good reason-but she has already completed 10 feature film scripts and 2 TV series. She has earned 2 options for her work and has two scripts current in pre-production with talent and award winning directors attached.
Tumblr media
(IMDb.com)
“I wrote my first screenplay at ten years of age,” said the Westchester County native. “So, I went to Fordham and concentrated on independent study in the art of acting, literature, and film and had a concentration of screenwriting.”
Listed in Forever Fordham under her maiden name of Defrancesco, the one time Finlay Hall resident (that’s ‘Old Chem’ to some of us and the former home of the medical school to no one alive today) once completed an internship with a Broadway producer. A passionate writer for most of her life, she spent her college years focusing on screenwriting and attending meet-ups with her mentor, former Fordham professor Meir Ribalow,  at The Players in Manhattan. After graduating she began teaching Visual and Performing Arts courses, while keeping her writing goals at the forefront.
Question: Screenwriting, show biz, seems so foreign, even dangerous, to many of us. I recall reading that people like F. Scott Fitzgerald and Heinrich Mann went to Hollywood and figured it would be easy money. (After all, if you can write Great Gatsby or The Blue Angel how hard can this movie stuff be?) Yet they got frustrated and both apparently became alcoholics.
Tumblr media
Heartland, a Canadian TV Show, that stars Amber Marshall and Kerry James. These two have signed on to star in and produce Daina’s original screenplay called Elke’s Magic that is in pre-production. Daina wrote the screenplay based on the novel Elke’s Magic by author Inger Margaret Foster. Stay tuned!
A Question That Came With Its Own Answer
Hearing this talk about Canada, I noted the other three names mentioned above were all born in the Great White North. I asked if she did much traveling?
At that most opportune moment, her 5 year old daughter came into the room. She apparently had a “bump” and  needed comforting; mom had to call me back.
Question: Do you travel much for these assignments?
Smith: (The now Connecticut resident confirmed) In addition to being a writer I’m also a full-time Mom to my 5 year old daughter and 7 year old son.
For Those Who Want To Get Involved
For those who want to take on writing on their own, she offers help in the form of Scriptwriting Coaching, Script Coverage, and Creative Copywriting services. She has written everything from screenplays to Bosch advertisements to radio scripts for 106.7 Lite FM.
Question: It is said that the toughest thing for a person who is new to the craft of writing is to avoid too much expository writing.
Smith: It is very important to remember that it is better to show something than to tell something. If “Laura is sad, don’t tell me that Laura is sad. Say that “Laura is sitting in her chair, staring blankly at the wall in front of her. Just as the phone RINGS she begins to cry.” It’s a tricky thing to learn, but once you understand that this is a movie- and it’s all about visuals- you become accustomed to SHOWING what you mean.

Other Fordham Connections
Daina wanted us to know that her father is a full-time member of the Fordham faculty as a lecturer, in marketing, for the Gabelli School of Business. He has held that position since 2009 after completing a career with Pitney-Bowes. Her brother Matt is a Fordham Prep alum, and her brother Anthony is a Fordham Graduate School of Business alum as well. The DeFrancesco (Smith) family obviously loves Fordham!

(CONTINUED maybe we're back on track if I didn't mess up my text splitting pls don't eat a part tumblr, I THINK there's 5 if I counted right??? im so sorry OP you're an angel for putting up with me and I'm starting to think I didn't give you an adequate enough heads-up) This fic is my baby, it has grown up with me, I’m literally sending Leaf to College at one point to project that life on 🤣 hey Blue Oak did it, so can she. (but Highschool first, can’t convince me anyone with the education of a 4th grader (or 8th grader tech, Ash is 10, she's 14 Let's Go-style where he was born during "protagonist years") will be allowed to be a Champ who wants in on how to run a region and detective work) schooling is a bit different in Pokeverse, you take Uni classes for fun, don’t need two years of an AA or AS Degree. Pokémon Toxicology, BioDiversity and Medicine re: using their natural abilities VS Organic Chemistry ANY DAY + Law Student-like internships at the League to learn Champ duties + fun bonus of Lance doing extra and involving his League with the Interpol.) "Where do you think you're going?" "Out." "Without doing the paperwork?" "You can give it to the intern!" "You are the intern." “I cannot believe this betrayal. This slight against me will not be forgotten.” “You mean just like how you didn’t forget the League duties you insisted on being allowed to do?” eyebrow raise “…well.” Lance is not exempt from bullying.
"You're the one wearing a bib!" "A what?! It's a cape!" "And it's on the wrong side!" "It's a cape! And it's elegant!" "It's tacky is what it is!" You're likely to find her complimenting Leon's cape just because of how offended Lance gets. Choosing a cape is a science. But nobody wants to hear a one-hour monologue on Cape Studies. Payback uwu. He's actually the reason she ends up having to finish Highschool. He's not giving an obviously emotionally tired 14 y/o Boring Adult Work even if she's eager to do it because SOMEONE needs to fix the atrocious state of the Kanto Region. (Lance was overworked, he's trying, but Indigo Season...what is wrong with all these citizens. It's ok, once she's ready they can split uuuh, the work between Kanto, Johto, The Orange Islands, and the Sevii Islands + G-Men Investigations so Lance doesn't have a heart-attack at his desk. But seriously, who gave him this much work anyways??? Not to mention running the League, the Gym Budgets, restocking Badges, employee paychecks, monitoring trainers during League Season, and the influx of tourists and establishing Pokemon Contests in KanJoh, etc.) So it's off to learn The Magic of Friendship with Ash and friends and falling victim to their puppy-dog eyes. (Occasional meet-ups during Kanto turn into full Joh-Hoenn adventures, and Sinnoh encounter when investigating with Looker about Team Galactic as Lance I presume is off training in Galar, he needs a break too.) So for Johto (*insert horrified look at the GS Ball because that's what you use to capture Celebi, she would know~ "well heck, guess I have to steal that when no one's looking.") And everyone going, "You know Leaf, I was a bit worried when we heard about The Incident but you're still you :)" Cue Leaf "oh...*laughs nervously.*" (That moment when you disappear off the face of the earth after The Incident, and re-appear to win the Indigo League and Clean House and don't know how to tell people you kind of regained memories of your past life and had an existential crisis. They're a bit come and go/the ones getting triggered upon meeting Steven in the Granite Cave episode was fun lol (not) *Gets to Ecruteak, sees Morty, books it the other way because she remembers his warnings to not chase after Celebi from The Other Timeline/Gameverse and does not need him seeing the many ghosts of her dead Pokemon clinging to her if they are.*
BLUE OAK DID IT, SO CAN SHE! This is gonna be my new motto for everything, whether it's relevant or not lmao. These Lance interactions are everything to me. I LOVE found family League shenanigans. So precious I want to cry. Okay I want to read this fic so badly. It sounds so heartwrenching and fascinating and I can tell you've put SO MUCH thought into it. Gimme. *Grabby hands motion* (actually though, i am happy to beta read if you ever consider posting!)

How to Write an ATS Friendly Resume That Guarantees a Job
Tumblr media
It is often interpreted that the first impression you make with the hiring committee is during your interview. The first impression you make with the hiring committee is through your resume to tell you the truth. Everything that the hiring committee needs to know, from your academic achievements to your current project, is in that resume. With the increasing number of job applications per post, your resume is your only chance to get an interview. What if, though, your resume never makes it to the hiring committee? How is that possible, you might wonder? Allow me to explain. Many firms employ an Artificial Intelligence-based tool to filter out resumes that meet their specific specifications when applications for a particular position increase. You might want to explore reworking your resume if it has the same dull standard collection of templates.
But wait! Don’t go googling out or searching Instagram reels for “How to write an ATS friendly resume?”
Do not worry! We know just the trick.
When we talk about jobs, we frequently mention resumes. However, no one ever explains the specifics of a resume. So, we’re here to address your questions about what a resume is and why it’s so crucial.
You’ve probably seen resume-based Instagram reels that have over a million likes. So, logically, you’d be interested to know more about resumes.
A resume is a professionally formatted document that describes your professional credentials, such as real-world work experience, acumen, qualifications, and notable career achievements. The most successful and problem-solving resumes are tailored to the specific scenario, focusing on expertise and skills relevant to the desired job they are applying for. Therefore, a professional CV is unavoidable if you want to land an interview.
At its most fundamental level, a resume consists of these five sections:
1) Name and contact details.
2) Personal Summary
3) Academic History
4) Internships
5) Work Experience
Depending on your accomplishments, you may want to include titles such as:
1) Training and Certification
2) Projects and Achievements
3) Research Projects
Writing a resume that is ATS friendly can get extremely challenging. If I had the choice, I’d get it professionally written! However, if writing a resume is what you want, stay assured. We’ve got your back!
What is ATS?
ATS stands for Applicant Tracking System. Recruitment competition is fiercer than ever, and finding the right talent will never be more challenging for recruiters. With an increase in the inflow of resumes and positions available in a Multinational Corporation, it is challenging to keep track of the entire process from posting a job online to evaluating the resumes. In these circumstances, hiring managers have to incorporate solutions that optimize the employment process as a whole. Application Tracking System (ATS) is a software application that allows the electronic handling of recruitment and hiring needs.
The data is supplied into the ATS algorithm in such a way that the program can systematically organize hundreds of applications depending on the algorithm. Specific algorithms, for example, screen resumes depending on how well they fit the ‘job description’ can be used. Using an application tracking system to search for essential skills and titles is a structured approach for recruiters to sift resumes. So, if you’re applying to a multinational firm, there’s a good chance the ATS will go over your resume first before it reaches the hiring committee.
How can you create ATS-friendly resumes to get you an interview for your ideal job?
How many Google searches have you had to do in an attempt to make your resume ATS friendly?
I’m sure you’ve been through hundreds of tutorials, blogs, and reels to make sure your resume is on point and ATS friendly. But did you get that right? Well, here we are with a quick guide on how to create an ATS-friendly resume that guarantees you your dream job! Here’s what you need to do. First things first!
1. Pick up a Template
Yes! You heard me correctly! You might be thinking that I’ve just contradicted myself. But, hey, I’m not talking about the standard, uninteresting template, am I? Choose a template that is simple but appealing. For starters, you can start to work with ATS-friendly templates. Remember, simplicity is the key. Anything too much, on the other hand, could be disastrous. Fancy fonts, graphics, charts, and tables may not be filtered by the ATS software, causing your resume to be rejected. While creating your ATS-friendly resume, ensure that it highlights your experience and skills in a straightforward manner rather than using unnecessary charts, graphs, or symbols. I’d also suggest using precise, commonly used heads to avoid throwing the ATS software off, causing your resume to end up in the wrong pile.
2. Google Keywords According to your Job Listing
Whenever the applicant tracking system “starts reading” a resume, it is configured to do the same thing that a person would do: It’s looking for critical bits of information to see if you’re a good fit for a job position. Searching for specific keywords is one of the approaches that the ATS uses to narrow down a candidate pool. The recruitment team or hiring manager can choose which keywords to look for based on the most crucial skills, qualifications, experience, or traits for the job. For example, particular majors may be required for entry-level positions, while specific coding languages may be necessary for tech positions. Certain degrees and certifications may also act as important keywords based on your sector. Employers will want to know right away if you’re legally able to do the job you’re looking for, especially in professions like the medical profession or the paramedics, where state licenses are required.
The first step is to Google out keywords for your job description.
Browsing a few different job postings while keeping keywords in mind will help you understand the keywords for your area, qualification and experience, and role. Concentrate on a job description and jot down some of the terms that come to mind for your job listing.
Now browse over your job posting and thoroughly read the job description. If a specific requirement for the job position is mentioned in the job description, utilize it in your resume without using a thesaurus. The ATS software cannot employ and comprehend synonyms, unlike the human mind.
Let’s say that you’re applying for the job title of Assistant Researcher in the domain of stem cell research. The job description mentions, “Should be proficient in gene editing and handling tools.” Now, mirror back the exact same line to your CV. This is true for all certifications, software, hard programming skills, soft programming abilities, interpersonal skills, and projects.
3. Use Keywords in your Resume.
Now that you have picked up a few keywords, it’s time to incorporate them into your resume! But before integrating it into your resume, here’s the thing – DO NOT GO OVERBOARD WITH THE KEYWORDS! Your keywords need to be appropriately spaced throughout the content to ensure the ATS software can adequately evaluate and categorize your resume. Read your resume thoroughly. Once you have read your resume, you shall have a brief idea of where you can replace your words with keywords. Make sure the words you’ve chosen to replace fit in the statement. You don’t want to sound incorrect. Nothing can be more disastrous in your resume than a statement sounding incorrect!
Remember! The secret to passing the ATS program is to use the keywords from the job posting. You might want to include an extra set of action verbs and technical skills from the description so that the software recognizes the potential of your resume rather than sorting it in the wrong pile. If you’re not sure which keyword to use, add a slash and use both. For example, “Proficient with Microsoft Excel/Google sheets.”
4. Customization is Key
Every job requires a tailored resume to make sure you stand out in the application process. Just like you need uniqueness to your resume, you also need specific keywords for the job title you’re applying to. This appears to be a lengthy process, but it will be worthwhile once you receive a call from the hiring committee for an in-person interview. Make sure to check if your keywords have been updated to match the job titles you’re applying for.
As the ATS software is being extensively used, it’s very crucial that you get past the software directly in front of the hiring committee. And the key to this is Customization! Every job position you’re applying to, has its own set of roles and responsibilities that you as an employee will have to fulfill. And that’s precisely what the ATS software is going to look out for. So with changing roles, make sure you make changes, especially to your hard skills (types of programming languages, management, marketing, and languages you are proficient with, etc.)
5. Proofread your resume.
Of worst thing that may happen to you while sending out your resume is that you use incorrect English and make grammatical mistakes. It’s even worse when you’re attempting to apply for an England-based shift in a BPO! So make sure you proofread your resume once you’ve incorporated keywords to avoid making erroneous statements or grammatical errors. Also, remember to blend the keywords in the sentence, so it doesn’t detract from the point you’re attempting to make
Now that you’re all set to create an ATS-friendly resume, here are a few things to keep in mind while writing your resumes.
1. Do not apply for positions/job titles that you’re not qualified for.
As the “robots” that stand between you and your new employment, ATSs have a terrible reputation. Thousands of applications are rejected with every new job opening. Most of us tend to blame the ATS. However, the majority of the applicants are usually unqualified for the job position, while some are utterly unimportant.
2. Do not apply to multiple jobs in the same company.
The ATS software is used throughout the firm. As a result, it’s not uncommon for them to learn that you’ve applied for multiple roles at the same company. A recruiter won’t be able to discern what you’re interested in or if you’re confident in your skill sets if you do this.
If an organization has two similar job openings, definitely apply to both. You can also apply to both if you have a diverse set of talents and abilities and would be equally happy in two entirely different professions. But, the key is to customize your resume before you send them out.
3. Do not go overboard with your keywords.
Spacing the keywords evenly throughout the resume is crucial.
4. Do not include any tables or fancy formatting.
It may be heartbreaking to hear, but you should probably get rid of that pricey resume format or the fancy resume you love so much. Most ATSs will convert your resume to a text-only format to scan it for essential keywords. Then, at the end of processing your resume, the ATS software removes any tables or any fancy layouts you’ve added to your resume. With the tables and fancy fonts gone, your context suddenly stops making sense! At the worst, the ATS won’t extract the critical information, and a hiring manager may never see your beautiful designs—or learn about the experience and talents that genuinely qualify you for the position.
What resume format should you follow for writing an ATS-friendly resume?
Robots and programs have taken the world by storm. You can find automation in every process these days. Recruitment and job application have also been automated with tons of recruitment software. Applicant tracking systems are programs that aid in automating recruitment for companies. But along with the application of hi-tech software, job applications have become more competent. You have to beat the robot to appear as the best choice.
If you are composing a resume for an ATS, you need to draft your resume in a format that gets seamlessly shortlisted by ATS. In such cases, you must use a chronological resume format. A chronological resume format is a resume that presents your work history in sequential order of position and time. The most recent job that you are doing must be at the top, and your initial job relevant to the industry should be at the bottom. A chronological resume beats the AI in ATS and helps you get shortlisted.
So there you go! Here’s all that you need to make an ATS-friendly resume ready to make past the ATS software, right onto the desk of the hiring committee.
Now with the mammoth information that you’ve amassed about how to tailor your resume perfectly to meet the ATS criterion, we understand if it feels like a daunting task. To be completely honest, it is one. Since the entirety of your selection process begins with this one document, there is a good chance that nailing it in the first attempt is going to be highly unlikely. But how many revisions will it take to get the perfect one? What if you keep editing it, but it doesn’t get the desired outcome?
We strongly advise hiring a resume writer to assist you in writing a strong resume to help you overcome this problem. They may assist you in creating a resume tailored to a certain position, or if you want to take the initiative, you can look for a resume writer and create your own resume and cover letter. While some resume writers specialise in certain specialisations like accounting, finance, and law, others focus on a particular business or field like real estate, medical, or education. If you’re not sure if hiring a resume writer is a good investment, you can consider speaking with one to learn more about their experience and how they might assist you.
Writers of quality resumes don’t come cheap. The majority of professional resume writers, meanwhile, are well worth their price. Contrary to other types of writing assignments, creating a resume should not be challenging. However, mastering the complex job application process by tailoring the perfect resume is. Thus, we provide the names of the top resume writing services in India that we are aware of –

Tips from Winnie the Pooh for Online Internship
Tumblr media
Description: This blog shares my invaluable tips for an online internship program. Also, I have referred to some characters from Winnie the Pooh because I loved them as a kid. In addition, I have mentioned where to get paid online internship program in the sales and marketing domain. I hope these five tips will be helpful for every first-time intern in an online internship.
My name’s Riya, and I’ve consumed the last couple of months doing work from home internship in a start-up in Hyderabad. I learned so much about how to work remotely, and I realized one thing there is no difference between offline and online internship programs. I wanted to share my five highlights with you all! Not to forget, all lessons are originally learned from Winnie the Pooh characters?! Do not worry, they’re easy to remember when you tie each to a character from Winnie the Pooh.
1: Don’t stress the uncontrollable.
Sometimes your internet connection fails. Sometimes you can’t get your camera working, or your headphones won’t connect. I was worried about these sorts of uncontrollable, and that worry troubled me to connect with the firm. I often felt like Piglet: nervous and scared that any Zoom mistakes would damage my internship experience.
These hiccups are unavoidable in the online internship experience. Therefore, so don’t invest your energy worrying about the little things. Stay steady, positive, and try to become comfortable addressing tech accidents.
2: Be prepared!
Be prepared to adapt to an online internship before you start. Learn how to use video chatting platforms such as Zoom, Skype, Google Hangouts, etc., because of online meetings.
Make a quiet office space you can work in with a reliable internet connection. The more you get well-versed with the technology, the more productive and easy to work with you’ll be.
Be like Rabbit: Make a plan for any mistakes that might pop up during the experience.
3: Be kind to yourself.
Sometimes it can be challenging for an intern to concentrate on an online internship. Recognize that coping with these feelings will influence your unpaid or paid internship. Give yourself the time to process your emotions positively and be kind to yourself. Some days, if you feel unmotivated or unable to work productively, then take a break by watching Netflix, treating yourself with good food, and more.
Be like Eeyore: He concentrates on the positive parts of life even when feeling down and isolates himself.
4: Stay excited!
Once you opt for a work-from-home internship, stay excited about it, and stay engaged. Ask your mentor to assign some projects and get as involved as possible. Being stuck in the house for months can be a pain, but having an online internship will help keep you busy and upskill simultaneously. Remind yourself why you chose this internship in the first place. How does it align with your interests? How to motivate yourself?
However, excitement and passion will not only make you a productive intern but will make you industry-ready.
Tigger is passionate and keen about everything, from learning the Whoopty-Dooper-Loopty-Looper-Alley-Ooper bounce to his friendship with Pooh.
5: Build networks.
The last online internship success tip I have for you today is to build networks. As an intern establishing connections online can be hard, -specifically when you are doing a work-from-home internship with certificates. Take some time at the beginning or end of a meeting to ask non-professional questions beyond intern duties.
Take a genuine interest in the people you’re working with, and build healthy and professional relations.
Despite his mistakes and flaws, Winnie the Pooh is the glue that holds the Hundred Acre Wood and its residents together. Pooh is endlessly optimistic and supportive of his friends, making him so likable.

Squishes Vs Crushes (Part 4)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Squishes Vs. Crushes, Part 4/4 - A conclusion for everything I've talked about these past few weeks! 🐸🐸😄 I really do believe that people's feelings can be mixed, between a lot of different kinds of attraction. It's kind of like that scene in Inside Out at the end, where all the different emotions are working together to make a core memory. Even if socially things are considered to be "separate"/come in pre-determined pairs (like romantic+sexual attraction), that doesn't devalue the importance of your feelings if they don't fit that mold!!! No matter what, you deserve to have your emotions and care for other people respected 💚💚💚 Anyway, this comic’s been a journey but I hope that you've found it helpful or informative! 😭 As I’ve mentioned in my story, I’ll be taking next week off - I’ve been really busy with my internship + a freelance project on top of that and this comic, and these past few weeks I’ve basically been working on different projects from when I wake up to when I go to sleep 😅 I’m just a little tired and need a weekend off to like, sleep lol 😂 I'll be back the week after with the usual stuff👌💚💚
[Image Description:
Slide 1: Celia speaks to the viewer, in a panel drawn the usual style. “I hope this series has been helpful to those of you who have been  wondering about the difference between these two types of attraction.”
Slide 2: “A disclaimer before we finish, though - this is just my opinion, and if you don’t agree or think what I’ve described here applies to you, feel free to disregard,” Celia speaks again.
Slide 3: “And if you’re still not sure about what you feel, well hey, that’s okay too!” A little blank person drawn in the sketchy, airbrushed style appears in the center of the composition. They look confused, and a light purple glow surrounds them with a little question mark drawn in the center of their chest.
Slide 4: “There’s a lot of pressure, sometimes, to categorize emotions into certain “boxes” -”
A nondescript teacher fixture stands in front of a board, which has different shapes to represent standard “types” of feelings. A red heart is shown for romantic, an orange square for platonic, and a green circle for sexual.
Slide 5: The blank person’s hands hold a multicoloured, primarily blue blob with a little bit of purple and green.
“- but … in reality, feelings can be much more complicated.”
Slide 6:  Celia points out, “On top of all that, only you can decide what you feel!”
Slide 7: The blank person now holds their multicoloured blob, with a worksheet left to the side of the three standard “shapes” of attraction. They look confused.
“If those feelings can’t be described by either ‘romantic’ or ‘platonic’,”
Slide 8: “That doesn’t mean they matter any less.”
The person holds their blob close to their chest, and grabs a pencil to scribble over the shapes on the sheet.]
