I made a Vocaloid channel but I'm having trouble getting views. I like making covers for fun but I wish I could get more than a handful of views, especially since I haven't even gotten 5 on my latest ones. I use Vocaloid 6, which may be the problem since not many people talk much about it as much as the older versions

Would you have any advice as to what I can do?

m m m m m , , , , , , i feel like it's hard to say—back in the day when i was doing UTAU work, most of the interaction i got with my work was from my friends from UTAForum. we all sort of just shared our work with each other and supported one another doing our fun little hobby. though the sort of forum culture that spawned that sort of friend circle has kind of disappeared by this point , , , , ,

but honestly, even still—find folks whose work you like and get involved!! share your work on other sites and shout out people you like!! support the folks around you and establish yourself as part of a community

(of course like. don't treat it as a transactional thing. if there's one way to ensure No One interacts with your work it's to. comment on people's things or shout people out and then get passive aggressive expecting a response back. doesn't work like that. you support people because you love them and their work—not because you want something in return.)

but even more than that, honestly just keep doing what you do and the love in your work will come across in heaps and bounds, and someone will be bound to listen. people also tend to get interested the more you put your own spin on something, whether it's creating your own PVs, adding your own harmonies, sharing some of your files, or linking multiple covers together as part of a kind of overarching story. if you make it yours, it'll be yours for good.

like, at the end of the day we can all agree that views are just a number on a screen and are kind of meaningless and no one should base their worth on them, but also yeah it kind of wears you down after a while to keep sharing things you've put a lot of love and effort into with no response.

i'd just like to encourage you not to lose your passion for it—views or not, there's a lot to be gain by pursuing something you love. your VOCALOID endeavors are only just beginning, and who knows where you'll end up ! ! ! ! take the journey as far as it'll take you, and have fun all the while ! ! ! ! ! ! !

#because it just hit me that huh. wonder if other people do that. #partner and i were discussing memories and recall #and how certain details stick while others don't #and i was talking about how i remember the time i got a parking ticket because i was a whole 2 minutes late getting back to my car #after hobbling back in a moon boot from the campus health center #and i was like. huh. it's funny how i remember the part where i was hobbling across the lawn back to my car in 3rd person #like as if someone was standing next to my car watching me approach #and then it hit me that a good portion of my memories are like that and it was like. huh. #some are Both simultaneously and others are Strictly first person #but a lot are in third person . . . . . wild . . . . . . .

#to make a long story short #i had to visit a local museum i've already been to recently that's popular with kids to get credit for an assignment #but it was super super busy and i got really overstimulated #and my partner couldn't come because he's seriously sick right now #so instead i just kind of hung out in the quietest locations i could #but i kept running into a group of my peers that included a person who just. Will Not Stop Interrupting Me. #like. as in one of my peers was asking me about my portfolio project and expressing concern because they knew the trouble i was having #and about 10 seconds into me explaining why i'm so stressed and what my game plan is to survive #this other person interrupts and just. starts talking about their own portfolio and how it's nearly done :) #and they kind of just pulled that similar thing most of the time to the point that i just gave up trying to answer or participate #in any conversations ksjdhfgljkdf #and at one point the topic of our ages came up and a friend asked mine #and this person was like. 'wow! so....[age] huh?? what went wrong there haha' #because they're fresh out of high school and i'm in my mid twenties and it was like #'yeah i've only been doing college part-time or less because i've had to work and take care of both myself and my siblings since #my dad passed away and my mom had 3 major strokes and effectively had to be placed in our care until she recovered :)' #and they left the conversation after that but #ughg . . . . . . #i'm already 0.2 seconds from crying most days over how behind i am #and how i'm not going to be able to get hired until august at the Absolute earliest #assuming something doesn't go terribly wrong #i didn't need to get shamed for my age or have to sit through 8+ people talking about how they're nearly done with everything yipee :) #i can't imagine not being done by now :) what are you even going to do :) do you think you'll have to retake the semester :) #that would suck :) for you :)

taking a break from working to say man. if the end up having to cut content to fit everything in 24 episodes, my favorite chapter of dungeon meshi is almost certainly getting cut skdjfhglj

#again i have no idea if they're going to try to fit everything into 24 episodes #or if they'll come back next season with another 24 to finish it up #but thinking about the story as a whole #i feel like my favorite chapters are some of the least crucial to the story overall in terms of broad strokes #which has me like damnb . . . . . . . . i was really hoping for it skdjfhlgkjsdf #again ! ! ! there's no use in me exhausting any thought over it #because either it happens or it doesn't and it's not like me thinking about it will change that #but man. i want. the changeling arc animated to badly it's so funny and one of my favorite bits of the story sdfjhgljksdf #shapeshifter arc too because oughhhh the insights into everyone's perceptions of one another ksjdhfgljsdf #like of course i am awaiting griffin soup like a hungry dog because WAILING WAUHHGHG #and the chances of them cutting that are Low unless they're like #speed running the end of the story or pulling an original fma and just outright writing a new ending that gets them out of dealing with #(gestures) literally everything that happens in the second 50 chapters of the series #though that feels less likely considering that they've been sticking to the manga pretty closely even after The Tone Shift #um. i. um. #i should probably get back to work and stop worrying about dungeon meshi huh. #um. i just hope we get the changeling arc that is my final message change da world goodbye

the burnout is real lads . . . . .

#which is to say that i came home and just stared at the wall for roughly 2 hours instead of completing my documents #it was at least validating to get to talk to one of my coworkers today #and hear that they're just as burnt out as i am #and usually have to sit in the parking lot for 4 to 5 minutes before they come in because they just don't want to be here that badly #and it feels hard to admit because this is typically thought of as a passion driven profession #and it's like #neither of us have lost the passion for it??? #it's not that we hate our jobs #it's just that we both feel like. we're putting in increasingly more effort week by week but we're just. #no longer getting results. #i mentioned how i feel like my faith in my ability to do this kind of work has just plummeted to zero #not at all helped by my mentor constantly pushing me to go faster and faster but then getting mad when my presentations go poorly #because i went faster or reduced the amount of material or cut the Q and A section down 10 minutes #i just feel . . . . . tired . . . . . . . . . . . #i still need to write three planning documents for tonight #one of which needs to be Really Good because my direct supervisor will be looking at it #but my god #i just want to sleep for three days straight and then stare at a wall for another three #i'm so close to the end though . . . . . #just another 15 of these documents (including the three from tonight) and that about covers my internship #of course then there's also the seminar work and the group project and all the fancy official employment documents #and. the portfolio project (a man screams in agony) #but god . . . . . . . . #so close . . . . . . . . #so close . . . . . . #once i'm free from the portfolio it's back to zola work and THEN . . . . . . . . . . #i can finally have a substantial mental health break for the first time since last may ;;; _____ ;;;
