okay, since i haven't seen no way home and I WILL NOT SEE IT, i was forced to look up the suit peter will wear from now on. and... i'm not sure if it's official bc i couldn't find actual pics of the movie, so pls correct me, but it's literally. this.

this is NOT my mcu peter parker.

this is so... idk. there's no PERSONALITY in this suit. at all. nothing unique. yes, i am aware that this is the "classic" spider-man suit, which means that peter will stop hiding in "tony's shadow". but this is the BIGGEST DOWNGRADE i have ever fucking seen.

before anyone argues, i don't fucking care that mcu peter will "finally" be a proper spider-man. he never needed to fucking prove that. he didn't need to lose EVERYTHING to prove it. just because peter was close to tony, that never meant he wasn't his own character. peter is allowed to have cool tech, to have resources, and most importantly to have support.

i will ALWAYS hate no way home for doing this shit.

Quentin doesn't seem to mind the abrupt change of subject, but he doesn't make mention of taking the conversation seriously either— he keeps on dragging the knuckles of his stupidly large hand along the bare skin of his arm, drawing goosebumps in its wake. Eyes closed, not a sign of a tense muscle or quickening heartbeat; he's as relaxed as ever, lulling Peter into that same sense of calm with the rise and fall of his chest as words finally push past his lips and fill the silent, empty-looking room. - "If there's something that Stark has taught me in his generous wisdom, is that people won't give you what you deserve. You've got to take it yourself."

Ignoring Quentin's exhausted, familiar antics, Peter's left with the implications of his words and how they once would've sounded so beyond him; it's too bitter of a worldview, it leaves no space for trust or hope, least of all healing. A twisted, self-serving analysis that explains the man underneath him so well— his fingers curls over the sprinkle of hair over Quentin's stomach, he doesn't know what to do with the understanding that downs on him. What it means for the Peter he is now. - "I can't do the same as you. I'm not like you."

Quentin hums, his tone contains a forced playfulness that the teen already knows what to associate with. - "That's 'cause you're weak, honey. Why I'm taking you instead."

honestly the thought of a longfic where peter gets adopted by blackhill is such a tempting thought. I'd probably make it either a foster!kid au, nat adopting him after may dies (could be NWH-compliant or not), or even having may and nat co-parent bc may works a lot, and needs someone to take care of peter after ben dies and nat (being a SHIELD agent with a very flexible schedule but will drop off the map for weeks at a time for undercover missions) is unable to take care of him full time.

I mean, I do end up writing some of these things because I know damn well no one’s gonna do it. There are even some I’ve started and want to finish, some after years of wanting them but the whims are fickle.

Some ideas that I would scream if anyone ever wrote and would love to read but wouldn’t write (as of yet)

An inverse of the biodad AU tropes; not like what I wrote with Peter as the dad but a straight forward “Peter is Tony’s son” and he fucking hates it. None of this “oh he grows to love his DAD” and not straight up animosity, but more of a “you abandoned me for x reason and now you wanna play dad?” even better if it’s HOCO compliant

Another inverse of the Field Trip fic. Tag it with every single dumbass tag you racist fucks gobble up and then promptly tear it down. Flash Thompson doesn’t need a redemption, you all are just racist. Have Sam Wilson or Rhodey be the hero Peter hangs out with instead of fucking Bucky.

A total rewrite of the MCU with MJ and Ned and Flash as the FOS. Does it practically change the plot? Maybe! Maybe not! But having a start to finish HOCO to NWH FOS focused fic, without taking out Tony and the Avengers or adding in OCs or love triangles or anything else that’s better left in a YA novel would be so fun to read.

A realistic take on the year between HOCO and IW. Not the irondad fanon version and not the angry MCU hater version. Tony and Peter clearly have some kind of relationship come IW. It clearly wasn’t cuddly movie nights, spaghetti dinners, or tag teaming villain of the week fights. So much of irondad is just Made Up Shit and idk, I’d like a more grounded/canonically cohesive take on what their relationship might’ve actually looked like in that year.

A fic that specifically focuses on the time period between them landing at the airport at the end of FFH till Peter going to Strange for the spell. That’s (1) week of normalcy (allegedly his birthday) and then four months of dealing with people throwing paint on him and following him, Ned and MJ. I’d love to read a fic that stayed canon compliant within that reference.

I could go on and on but these are the first that come to mind.

Summary: MJ has a bunch of hang-ups she initially isn’t aware of. Gwen falls in love with a girl she meets in class on a Thursday morning in September.

Set almost a year after Spider-Man: No Way Home. MJ is a freshman at MIT, where she meets a version of Gwen Stacy. Canon-compliant all the way up to the end of NWH and the scene at the café when Peter chooses not to reintroduce himself to MJ.

Notes: In August 2022, I found myself the tiniest fandom niche and made myself at home (made myself a home) for over a year.

This story was inspired by three things: 1) The question of what the consequences of memory magic messing with your brain would be (If MJ remembers Peter, how would that go?), 2) MJ's tearful face at the end of NWH (and my brain going, she deserves to be happy and safe!), and 3) my reaction* to the scene in the Across the Spider-Verse teaser when Gwen asks, "Wanna get out of here?" before she drops out of the window.

talk shop tuesday: if you could do a remix of any of your fics,for funsies, what would it be and what is the main change you'd make in the plot?

There's a few I've thought about rewriting because I think I could probably do them better now.

Rewriting for funsies has never really crossed my mind, if somethings happened then its because I planned or was happy with the outcome when it came to posting, so this was question really had me thinking hard.

It would probably be Vagary. I didn't have the series as a whole planned out, and while writing These days of dust, I was debating whether I wanted to be Canon compliant with Tony’s death or end the series after that fic with him alive. Looking back, I really wonder what the rest of the series would have looked like if Tony had lived-- the ways that would have changed the FFH/NWH portions of the series. I think it could be fun to explore.

as of 11/22/22, the majority of replies (asks/threads/starters/etc) that are NOT explicitly set during a specific timeframe will default to peter’s post-trilogy/college verse. depending on who/what the interaction is, this could be nwh compliant or include my alternate version of the ending where the memories of peter stay intact. the point is they’ll automatically take place while peter around 18/19 years old, enrolled at esu, and living in his own apartment 

of course i’ll still be writing plenty of stuff that takes place during and in between the trilogy, especially if i feel it fits the prompt better, he’s just no longer being automatically placed somewhere in that hoco-ffh area
