Now for the actual MEETING, well I do see that you meet this person from afar at first. they have a good reputation and they're seen as someone elevated. honestly i get the image of someone watching from afar, trying to act distant like they don't care (this is you btw😭) whilst still keeping an eye on them. you notice them first but that does not mean they don't know you. honestly they haven't heard very good stuff about you when you two meet sorry sorry bUT they still approach you anyways. again i get the image of you trying to act cool and collected, you probably don't even take them seriously. it might be somewhere crowded where you can (metaphorically or actually) feel everyone's eyes on you both. i do see people thinking like oh these two are about to fool around or like nothing can stem from the both of you talking but they're still curious enough to watch. + for some of you this can point to having a crush on them back then without knowing them, as in maybe a social media crush or something like that. like you KNOW them because you've been keeping an eye on them before but they don't know you; they've just heard mean things about you.

Hellooo pile two! your first meeting is a weird thing. they keep pulling me to tell you about your second meeting and not your first. first off, I'm praying for you. the energy of your future spouse- wait no scratch that the alleged appearance of your future spouse??? yeah good luck. we got the oracle card "guy is too hot" like what else do we even need??? 😭 you're going to be so caught off guard when you meet them. i don't believe necessarily in love at first sight but it's so likely that it happens to both of you. you my dear lovely pile two, are somewhat of a romantic (this is my nice way of saying erratic in love) you seem to crush on people allll the time. you put big emphasis on the more uhm rated r side of love. like how it'll be, how they'll be and so on and so forth. BUT the crazy thing is, this doesn't happen with this person; you're stuck wanting to know more about them on a even friendship SOULMATE level. they're ridiculously attractive and yet you don't even want to connect bodies you want to connect with their SPIRIT. it's crazy because your way of meeting each other is almost like destiny. I can see you guys telling the story later on in your marriage and realizing that if xyz hadn't changed even just a bit then you two likely wouldn't have met. like true destiny type of vibes in your connection. i do think the reason as to why spirit doesn't want to talk about your first meeting it's because nothing really happens the FIRST meeting. most likely they're watching from afar, immediately in love. and they won't even ask for your name or nothing either, just watches from afar then goes home lmao. it's DESTINY intervening that has you two meeting again and that's when it starts. you SEE them now too. you want to speak to them and learn their name. honestly I do get the vibe that they're a bit more "refined" than you are. as in more polite and with better manners. you're gonna charm the pants off them though, just in a wilder way. def gonna surprise them.

my dear pile 3s it's all going to get better. you'll see ♡ the energy in this pile is tired. take some rest, you need to sleep. you need to think, be alone with your thoughts and untangle the web that you take great care not to focus on. pile three, you and your f/s will meet in a period of trying to advance knowledge wise. so attending school, college, starting a class, or just in a library. it's going to be during a period that you do not want to be bothered. you and them seem to be on the same struggle boat; whatever it is you're trying to get doesn't seem to want to be gotten 😭 and you are so stressed out. you keep wondering if the dream you're even going for is possible of being accomplished. i do feel like at the time you meet they are not in that situation anymore but they can relate to these feelings. like it was like prior to meeting you they were going through your exact situation but they're better off now. as in like they already accomplished what you wanted to do first. they might see you looking lost in thought or just going through a hard time and approach you only to give you advice or help you in a sort of way. they don't mean anything romantic by it but you look so distressed that they can't help but WANT to help you. and help you they do, I'm seeing that they change your way of thinking. they force you to see things differently. like "hey why don't you try this" or "what are you so afraid of" making you relax and feel more sure and confident. + for some of you I'm getting that later you might find out that this person might've actually been someone who your friends or family tried to set you up on a blind date with prior but you always refused. silly uu <3

my passion pile omg what!!! pile 4 i thought we were starting out cute and loving as we shuffled out the tarot cards then the oracle cards came out and my mouth dropped. one of you is so impatient!! like i can feel it from over here ngl. please be patient, this is coming to you, faster than you think. you see, your first meeting is so intense. like passionate. you might even raise your voice at them the first time you meet. omg okay so this might sound very weird BUT hear me out. this is someone from your past 😭 bUT i know no one likes hearing that but liSTEN. this is someone from the PAST past. as in you knew each other from childhood and maybe never saw them again as you grew up. ever wonder what happens to that one person you went to elementary school with and you just never saw them again. yeah, this is what this is looking like. the last time you saw them might've been since childhood and i know this is a first meeting reading but shush! childhood doesn't count. at least in this case it doesn't cause meeting them again is recognizing them. seeing them and feeling a flicker of the past. feeling like "hey I know you". seeing them is realizing that they've really grown into themselves and that they turned out to be amazing (attractive) people. like all their good qualities that they had when children seemed to have gotten better with time. this is a long gap of not seeing other again by the way. for ex. say the last time you saw them you had just turned 9/10, the next time you saw them you'd be 25 or just significantly older. they'd moved away and come back looking very different but with core characteristics being the same. I do think that at the time of your meeting you'd be getting out of a relationship. a bad one. you never felt yourself, you always felt like you were putting on a show. like you were lying, like it was all an act. and i do think you eventually end it. and when you do, this person pops us; and they have it all it seems. they're happy, successful, and confident. you both immediately want each other; it's intense. something filled with water AND fire. like I mentioned at first, you pile three might have heavy fire in your chart or on the flip side it could possibly be that coming out of that relationship has made you have to be mean and cruel at times. that's why I feel you're not nice to them at first. they're pure water, something pure deep and gracious. you on the other wand are trickier. as you see they don't get bothered by your comments or suggestions, I do feel that's going to make you pause like "huh"; it's going to intrigue you.

Boss and Noeul rant

First off I want to say is that their relationship is a sight to see. I would have to describe as a more than friends less than lovers relationship because of how they interact with each other on and off screen.

With that being said let the rant begin.

Divine timing, soulmates, maybe twin flames, and magnetic attraction.

These are the words I would describe their origin story to the present (in terms of their current partnership).

So first, I would say Noeul came back to Thailand from S. Korea after graduation and after the Pandemic ( the Pandemic could be seen as a reason to begin, prolong, or delay certain events in people's lives).

Second, the day they met at casting, Noeul approached Boss first, out of every other guy at casting, he decided to approach him and not only chat with Boss to pass the time, but they exchanged contact information with the possibility that they would connect and meet each other regardless of the outcome from casting. So not only did they speak, exchange contact info, but they also get casted for LITA as a couple.

So here we are, these two guys that have been casted as each other's love interest, and as you know with most BL shows/couples, workshops can only do so much and it is encouraged that you build chemistry outside of work. And we can see they definitely did that.

That now brings me to the topic of soulmates, maybe twin flames. Soulmates or even twin flames doesn't necessarily mean romantic (Twin flames are much more complex than soul mates and I do believe that people are over using the word without truly understanding the meaning, but that's for another day).

From the a lot of their interviews ( Thank God for fandom translators, you have a special place in my heart), they speak very often of their relationship (friendship or otherwise) outside of work, where it is mainly the two of them. Overall, they have a deep connection built on trust, safety, and unconditional love (however you want to look at it).

Their soulmate or twin flame relationship is something that we may truly never understand, in it's entirety. And you know, we don't really need to.

Now as any true BL shipper, we love watching them together and they have this attraction to each other that I would describe at magnetic.

As far as we know, they talk to each other everyday and they hangout with each other just as much, but what I will say is that when they are in each other's presence, physically, they are either touching in one way, shape or form, or they are in each others orbits. I believe that Boss likes being hugged by Noeul, he enjoys his warmth (giving small spoon vibes) and Noeul is often seen falling into Boss' embrace.

You can say where there is one, the other is not far behind.

When LITA started and they had their events, and from their social media content, I really thought that they took fanservice a little too seriously, but I truly believe that they have deep affection for each other and they can't help but show it.

I have written before that while Boss and Noeul may not be in a romantic relationship, I do believe that they like each other and they both have different ways of showing it. I believe that Boss' affection towards Noeul is very direct, while Noeul's is subtle.

Boss likes to stare at Noeul, blatantly, not caring that they're in front of an audience and it is being caught on camera. But also let's not forget Boss will find some way to touch Noeul and he definitely tries to be less obvious (but the fandom always catches it). With Noeul, he catches himself much quicker, I feel like when he looks at Boss, sometimes it's in awe and I don't think he realizes it.

In addition to their height difference, they somehow fit really well with each other like a puzzle. You'll sometime see one or the other put their head in the crook of the other's neck and it fits like a puzzle. One last thing, when they hug each other ( from what I have seen on the show and irl), they look so safe in each others arms. I am not sure if I am describing it correctly, but that's how I feel.

So in conclusion to this long rant (much longer than I intended), I can't wait to see more of them. I look forward to the progression of their careers as well as their relationship.

i stared at this ask trying to figure out if it was something from an ask game or something for like fifteen minutes lol. i don't think it is so I'm answering like you're just asking my general opinion on jackcrutchie

which is that it used to be my number one newsies ship if you look far enough back! idk when I switched to liking javid more exactly but now I very much think of jack and crutchie as best friends and brothers. i think regardless of how you see them, though, their connection is unique and important. crutchie is the person who jack feels comfortable sharing pieces of himself with that nobody else gets, the fears and dreams and wishes that he tries to hide from other people. jack is protective of his inner life, he doesn't let most people see more than he wants them to, but crutchie gets to see everything. and in turn, crutchie lets jack see more than he's willing to let everyone else see. the fear and struggles and anger that he tries not to let everyone else see. i think they both know that with each other, they don't need to be scared of pity or worried the other will think less of each other, and that's important. there doesn't need to be a filter between them.

at this point, i don't necessarily see them as romantic interests. i really love understanding them as platonic soulmates, two people who click so intrinsically that maybe from the outside people would assume they're together but they're not. there's so much love there and so much depth to their relationship, and they'd do anything for each other. in most situations, they're each others' first choice. but I also (as somebody who shipped them for a long time, like they might have been the first couple I ever really shipped) totally understand why people do interpret them as romantically involved, and more power to you!

Soulmate au.

Danny and Kaldur are soulmates, but Danny is from a different world, and in the world Danny is from, people just don't have any way of knowing that someone is their soulmate, and most people don't believe in soulmates; so Danny has no idea that Kaldur is his soulmate, but Kaldur knows Danny is his soulmate from the moment they meet.

Maybe Danny has been in (the soulmate au version of) the DC universe for maybe a couple of weeks or a couple of months before he and Kaldur meet, and found out about people in this world having soulmates and a way of knowing who their soulmate is pretty early on, but doesn't expect to have a soulmate of his own. He joins the team, and is talking to them about how things are different in his universe and how some things that are apparently real here that aren't in his world were a little surprising, and then Kaldur arrives, having overheard some of the conversation before he walked into the room. He walks into the room and just stops for a minute. He immediately realizes that Danny is his soulmate. He knows that Danny knows about soulmates to some extent, but also knows that just isn't a thing in Danny's world, and Danny doesn't seem to realize that Kaldur is his soulmate. Kaldur decides maybe he shouldn't say anything about it just yet because this world is still new to Danny and Kaldur doesn't want to overwhelm him or freak him out or anything like that, so he quickly acts like nothing is going on and introduces himself to his new teammate (who is also his soulmate) and makes an effort to get to know him. The rest of the team know something is up, but don't tell Danny anything, and Danny remains oblivious.

As Kaldur and Danny get to know each other better, they both fall more and more in love, but don't know how the other feels.

Kaldur tries to move things along, slowly, wanting a romantic relationship with Danny, but not wanting to overstep any boundaries and unsure how Danny feels about him.

Danny realizes he has a crush on Kaldur a few days after they meet, but with what he knows about the universe he's in right now, Kaldur probably has a soulmate out there somewhere and he's way out of Danny's league anyway, so maybe he should just try to ignore the way Kaldur makes him feel and try to be happy just being friends with him.

Also Jazz and Dani/Ellie came to this world with Danny because they're his sisters and the 3 of them needed to get to somewhere safer than their world after a reveal gone wrong (Danny has a Y-shaped scar on his chest to show just how wrong it went).

I might write this. I have ideas for it. I have headcannons that don't necessarily NEED to be included that I'm GONNA PUT IN THE STORY ANYWAY because I want them to be included. I just don't know how I'm gonna write this yet.

Heeeeey bestie!! Thus far, only Yoongi and MC's friend Ben knows that she's in love w ALL of the hybrids.... but like Yoongi said, she won't be able to hide that for long. I think since Yoongi clearly has both known her for longer and also has LOVED her the longest, he was able to sniff it out quick 🤔 Her mom, also, you're right-- she was made aware of the possibility of MC having 7 soulmates because of a reading. I'm not sure if she shared that w MC's father, however... inch resting 🤭🤭🤭

So eeeee yeah I think each time MC adds another "notch to her bedpost" (lol kidding she is in love with them all ofc 💀) there will be some awkward tension and conflict. They all live together, and while it's a big house, hybrids are possessive, even if they aren't romantically attracted/involved with their guardians. I suppose we'll see how the shitstorm unfolds!!

AS for the hybrid bonding you mentioned! Scenting in the Trouvaille world, if that's what you mean, doesn't necessarily translate into mateship or romantic feelings. It happens with all hybrids and their adoptive humans to initiate some sort of "claim" (again, in THIS universe), so take like Ben and Roy with Daisy-- fathers and daughter. Both were definitely scented by Daisy, maybe a nip to the wrist... I think the difference here with MC is that they all detect her attraction to them, and because they're reduced to a primal sort of being when needing to scent (and possibly some of them are crushing???), it gets heated/sensual. None of them have claimed her as a "mate" yet, and I'm still unsure if that's even an element I wish to include in Trouvaille... SO IN A NUTSHELL LMAO I think Alice is just having good, flirty fun with Hoseok for now,, she's not doing it out of spite!! (She just thinks MC is into only Yoongi, for now 😉)

Hmmmm, you know what? Why not. I like the idea so let's go. I put some worldbuilding first, and as you didn't specify any character, I'll go with my usual ones.

SOULMATE AU - PART I

Summary: Just some headcanons and a bit of worldbuilding about a Soulmate AU. Here is part II.

Author's note: ... Eheheh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to develop this worldbuilding so much BUT REALLY, I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER. It's long so I haven't reread it yet so please forgive any mistake I made! I will correct them later... eventually.

Characters: Ayaka, Ayato, Diluc, Kaeya, Zhongli

Warnings: Gender neutral reader, soulmates, mention of injuries in Diluc's (not described, Diluc is the one injured).

WORLDBUILDING

Everyone is born with a small mark somewhere on their body that will grow and take a specific shape as they grow older until reaching adulthood.

Each mark is unique. It can be of any size, shape, place, or even colour. It can represent something or nothing at all. However, it always has the same "dots" as the person's constellation even if it doesn't represent the same thing or animal. Example: your constellation might be a dog, each star will get a dot on your skin, but the soul mark could represent a flame, or nothing at all.

Your soulmate won't have the same mark, however upon meeting, his mark will appear next to yours on your body. Some parts can overlap or mix, and the size and colour might change a little bit, but it's unmistakable.

The feeling of receiving your soulmate's mark depends from people to people.

The place of a soulmate in society depends from region to region. In Mondstadt, it's both seen as a very romantic thing and as a unnecessary hindrance depending on who you ask. In Liyue it is seen as an "ultimate contract", one you can't break and is held in very high regard. In Inazuma, it is seen as a form of social recognition, so the higher in the social ladder your soulmate is, the better.

A soulmate is not necessarily romantic (though fair warning, it'll all be romantic partners in the following headcanons).

You need to be ready to get your soulmate. You could know someone for years, and suddenly one day they're your soulmate because one of you wasn't ready to fully commit, or wasn't mentally in a good place enough for that.

A soulmate is more than just a mark on your skin. Your souls get bonded together. It allows you some limited connection, like feeling the general direction your soulmate is, if they are in danger, in distress, or hurt, and also sharing very basic feelings.

When your soulmate dies, their mark will leave a scar on your skin. Some people die at the same time as their soulmate, some people become like an empty shell, some people survive but lose something deep inside them, some people lose a sense. It depends on the person.

Now that the worldbuilding is done, the characters are under the read more (Ayaka, Ayato, Diluc, Kaeya, Zhongli).

AYAKA absolutely loves the idea of getting her very own soulmate. She is loved by everyone, but she lacks any kind of meaningful connection with other people, except maybe for her brother and Thoma. So the idea that someday, sharing a bond so strong and so deep with someone else? Yes, that's the dream. However, she doesn't really delude herself and keep it to herself. She knows that depending on who her soulmate is, there might be some backlash against it.

And then one day, she meets you. It's a completely normal day for the both of you, Thoma is the one who introduces you as someone important for the next festival and suddenly, there's this cooling breeze sensation on where your soulmark is. You don't even need to check to know what happened, because Ayaka's expression is a mix of disbelief, excitement, and confusion. Thoma is looking back and forth between you two, completely confused, and Ayaka has to hide her blush behind her fan. "I'm... looking forward getting to know you better."

At first, you keep your relationship between the two of you, just so you have time to get to know each other and building your bond on a solid base. Only Thoma is aware of it, and he is forbidden to even tell Ayato (because she knows her brother and how ruthless he is going to be to make sure you're a good match for his baby sister). So for maybe the first weeks, it's only the two of you sharing sweet moments together, taking things slow. You have the rest of your lives after all.

AYATO... absolutely hates the whole thing. Not really the soulmate, but everything that comes around it: how much pressure he is under because he is a noble and how his worth will be partly determined by who his soulmate is, how he will be expected to have a "proper spouse" beside his soulmate if they don't fit high standards, how he had to meet so many people in his life because they were hoping to form that special connection with him. He hasn't met his soulmate and it has given his so many headaches already. And he is so busy anyway! And he would have to add his soulmate to his schedule? That's way too much of a hassle. Also, it's just another weakness he would have to protect, because of course they would target them instead of him.

But also, in a deep part of his heart, he longs to meet someone that would be his match, someone he could connect to such a deep level. He feels... lonely. And thinking about a soulmate just makes that hole in his chest a lot more present, so he just brushes all those thoughts off and focuses on all the negative instead. And then, one day, he meets you, and he feels like he is in the middle of a waterspout. He stays there, staring at you with eyes wide open, completely silent. His mark feels like rain drops on your skin, and when you call out gently to him, it feels like he finally found the eye of the storm. A genuine smile appears on his lips, and he introduces himself properly to his soulmate.

I won't lie, there will be many challenge in your new relationship, but Ayato will face them all gladly with you by his side. He feels... at peace, knowing you'll be there with him as he'll be there with you. He is not alone anymore. There won't be an official announcement at first, but Ayato won't try to hide either. He just wants to enjoy being with you, without caring much about anything else around him. Ayaka will be happy to welcome you in their family and to see her brother so happy. Maybe having a soulmate wasn't so bad after all.

DILUC's feelings on the subject changed during his life. He is a very romantic man at heart no matter how awkward he can be with actual romance. Growing up, he dreamt of meeting his soulmate and spending his life with them, knowing deep in his heart they would be perfect for each other and could only be happy, facing the world together. And then, his father died and it changed his life in so many ways, including this one. Now Diluc is more... reserved. Like Ayato, he is worried his position will put them in danger, but also... he knows he is not good with relationship and romance. What if he fucks it up? What if he somehow lacks something and can't provide his soulmate?

So yes, the man is kind of a ball of anxiety over the whole ordeal, and to be honest, as long as the Abyss Order is around, he would rather be free and not have to worry about an additional soulmate on top of everything. However, well, you just don't decide when or where you meet your soulmate. And, because apparently fate is a bitch, you are the one who saves his ass, just as he was injured after a skirmish with the Abyss Order. It wasn't a life-threatening injury, but still something that needed to be treated so you invited him to rest somewhere while you got some medical supplies to take care of them before they got infected.

The moment your hand touched his, there was a warmth, like a beating heart, on your soulmark. The heat lasted for a moment, and when you looked at Diluc, he was staring back at you with red cheeks. Of course. Of course the moment he would meet his soulmate was during a moment of weakness, oh no, what were you going to say, he was strong, he could promise you he was strong, this was but a flesh wound, he could protect you, he could be a good soulmate- And then, a gentle smile was on your lips, and his world felt complete. His wound needed treatment first of course, but then, how about a drink or two to talk about stuff? Diluc could only nod at that, trying to say "yes" but only a squeak escaped his lips and he swears he could die.

Oh, KAEYA is absolutely, completely, utterly TERRIFIED of that. He is scared shitless down to his very bones. Everything screams at him that this is a terrible idea. He comes from Khaenri'ah, a land cursed by the gods from Celestia themselves, his own father abandoned him, his adoptive brother rejected him when he learned the truth, and worse, he himself was unable to connect to his adoptive father's death no matter how devastated he felt inside. So really, he is so, so afraid. He doesn't know what is worse, no having a soulmate at all, or having one but they are what he sees in the mirror.

He'll joke and brush any comment of meeting his soulmate, saying he would break too many hearts if he did, or that nothing could be strong enough to make him settle down. Yes, the poor man is scared. So when he finally meets you, when he feels a curious sensation on his soulmark at the same time you feel a tickling cold on yours, he knows. He knows, and he actually runs away and pretends nothing happened, because you're the most gorgeous, perfect, sweetest being in all of creation in his eyes and if he stays with you, if he gets close to you, he is going to taint you and you don't deserve that. He leaves you alone, wondering what just happened and whose soulmark did you get and he doesn't look back.

Don't worry though, it won't last. The man is going to get drunk a couple of times and several days will pass, letting you think that maybe your soulmate was one that rejected the very idea of a soulmate, or maybe it was because it was you, and all those horrible things. And Kaeya just can't let you think that, you deserve the truth. So he'll come and find you with a bunch of flowers, ready to explain everything to you, how he is sorry but he can't do this... but only after a few minutes he is at your feet grovelling and begging you to forgive him and to give him a chance. Poor man is a mess but now he is your mess. He'll apologize over and over for what he did, and for a long time, but once he gets over it, he is the most loyal and caring soulmate you could hope for. He has this one chance, and he is NOT going to fuck it up, and that's a promise he makes to both you and himself.

ZHONGLI has waited for you for a very, very long time. He is a patient man, but he wasn't really expecting he would have to wait that long and had kind of... accepted it wasn't meant to be. Maybe his purpose was Liyue and nothing else. He tried to tell himself it was for the best, after all he was too busy with wars and protecting his people to give his soulmate the proper attention they deserve but deep down, he longed to have someone by his side. He had a huge part in how important soulbonds were in Liyue's culture. It was, in a way, the ultimate contract, one he was so ready to cherish above everything else.

So he waited, and waited, and waited. He never directly sought you out, but rather kept living his life, century after century, simply telling himself that if it was meant to be, then it would eventually happen. And then, one day, he met you. He knew, even before the soulmark appeared on his skin, he knew at the sound of your laugh in the street. He turned around, looking for the source of such beautiful song, his heart suddenly beating faster. It feels as if time itself stayed still for this moment, and it feels forever until Zhongli joins you.

You're very confused at first about this man walking to you? Then he politely salutes you and introduces himself, but you don't hear his exact word because a very strong yet gentle pulse appears on your soulmark, and you instinctively know what's happening. You smile back at him, and he tells you with the softest voice that he has waited for you a long time. After that, he'll take you with him somewhere you can talk in private (unless you have prior obligation, but you're not escaping him). He'll tell you everything then, and if you allow it, he'll always keep you close, basking in your presence. Your relationship will evolve at your own pace, but in his eyes, there's no doubt, you're the one for him and he'll love you for the rest of eternity.

Hot take: The probability of double black lasting in a healthy, long term romantic relationship is slim to none.

Why? Well, it's definitely not because they don't know each other well enough, or don't care enough or any of that; it's because they're both too traumatized to properly, or accurately for that matter, communicate sometimes. They lie to themselves more often than not, occasionally projecting onto each other, since they're both mirrors of the other. They're alike in ways they dred to recognize.

They care for each other in their own ways, but certain grudges that are held would be an obstacle to a healthy relationship.

They are comfortable with, and trust each other blindly, but that does not equate to straight out love.

In all seriousness though, what idiot would believe Chūya would genuinely try to murder Dazai, maybe maim him greatly, but murder him? Not a chance. He won't allow himself to accept that however, fully believing he'd murder Dazai at the nearest opportunity. And Dazai is fully aware of that, which gives him a sense of safety (to a degree) around Chūya.

Frankly, trying to define these two by a certain word would be infinitely hard, but they're old partners, if not friends, so that's a start.

My verdict is that they have a tense air surrounding them, their current relationship being a half full cup of what it was, but it was never necessarily romantic.

They aren't conventional friends, but they are what they are: good ol' complicated soulmates, be it platonic or whatever.

In another life, with different circumstances, they could've been frenemies, if not the closest of friends.

Please don't hate on me if our opinions don't align. It's a free space, and speaking my mind is part of that liberty. Mischaracterization is probably present, so if there's anything inaccurate to the canon (not your headcanons), constructive criticism would be appreciated.

Polyshipweek23 Day 4: Soulmates

A little bit of context: one of my favorite soulmate/soulmark tropes is “when you touch your soulmate for the first time, you both get a colorful mark in the shape of where you touched” I also love the idea of a soulmate being someone who has a profound impact (not necessarily romantic) on your life, so that’s what I’m rolling with here!

Mal

Mal gets her mark from Jay when they're both little. Like, the first day of what passes for school on the isle kind of little. It was hot, and they weren't wearing long sleeves like most of the adults do, and they bumped shoulders and marked each other. The soulmark is a smudge of dark red on Mal's left shoulder. 

Mal was marked by her mother as a baby. Maleficent's mark is on her back, a double handprint in deep eggplant purple (Mal heard the name for the color long before she knew there was a food that went with it) and it's so deep it looks like a bruise. Not that many people see it. It's fine to be marked by a parent, but showing soulmarks still isn't something that people do on the Isle of the Lost. 

Mal doesn't mark Evie right away. Their marks happen when Mal brushes her fingertips over Evie's wrist, and between Mal's bare hand and Evie's bare wrist, her fingers come away a saturated, brilliant royal blue. 

Mal marks Carlos once they're in Auradon, as promised. Because it's a planned mark, they have some freedom with it, and she puts her mark on him as a full handprint on his right shoulder. (her left hand is stained red in exchange, but it's worth it, to have her mark so bold and bright and undeniable on him). 

Mal marks Ben with her elbow, entirely by accident. On their first date together, she slips and falls in the water of the enchanted lake, and Ben unthinkingly reaches out to try and catch her (or maybe not unthinkingly at all - maybe he knew all along what he was doing) and Mal's elbow catches him in the bicep, and her mark blooms deep orchid purple on his skin, smeared from the broadest point of his arm down to near his elbow. Mal's own sharp, pointy elbow comes away stained with a deep, saturated gold. (It doesn't make the planned betrayal any easier).

Jay

Jay marks Mal when they're too little to know better. He shoulder-checked her on their grubby excuse for a playground, and then instead of a bruise they both had soulmarks blooming bright and unmistakable instead. Mal's mark on his right shoulder is bright orchid, and it's the second-deepest mark Jay has. 

Jay's deepest mark is from Carlos, which is funny in retrospect, but hadn't been at the time. Jay's gloves have a little gap at the heel of his hand, where they cinch tight around his wrist, so he's got a smudgy half-circle the size and shape of the gap on his right hand, bright red with a little smear leading down towards his wrist. It's funny now, but it hadn't been funny at all when the little kid Jay was scruffing to try and intimidate him had squirmed too far and turned out to be a soulmate. 

Jay's mark with Evie was intentional. A mark that would be easy to hide, at Evie's request, so they'd both thought about it and decided it would be funny to un-layer from their leather armor and bump the ridge of their hip bones together. The blue stain is one of Jay’s favorite things to trace over and over when he’s alone for the night.

Jay's mark from his dad is dark red, not nearly as bright in color as the one he has from Carlos, but not as dark as his own marks. It's high on his shoulder, in the shape of a hand catching him there, and it's fainter than most of the marks that parents leave on their children. A shadow of ruby-red, like a colored chalk stain that he can't quite wash off. 

Jay also has a mark from the oldest Hook boy - from a barefoot kick to the ankle when they were kids. It's stormy blue, like the sky outside of their barrier gets sometimes. They didn't realize the connection until later, which was funny when they were fucking each other stupid in the back corners of the docks, and less funny afterwards, when their crews fell out and they stopped speaking to each other outside of threats growled in the market.

Evie

Evie shares an intentional mark on her hip with Jay, his deep red color dark like a burn against her skin. She hides it from her mother, and doesn't let herself regret the choice. 

Mal's mark is absurdly bright on her wrist, a two-fingered smear of color that Evie hides under thick bracelets. Sometimes she wonders if Mal's mark on her is as bright as the one that she left in return. 

Evie doesn't share a mark with her mother, because Grimhilde is careful, and always, always wears her gloves. (this is a lie, and her mother’s mark is buried under Evie's hair on what was once the soft part of her head. Her mother's lips, always rouged or painted, hide the blue that Evie left in return). 

Evie marks Carlos partially by accident. She's not wearing gloves, and he's not wearing sleeves, and she trips over her own feet on a particularly hot day while trying not to pass out from the heat that's making them all suffer, and she smacks her hand into his arm. The mark blooms red and bright on the side of her hand, and the matching mark on his arm comes up so bold and royal blue that it nearly hurts to look at. 

Evie marks Ben, which is strange for both of them. It's an unthinking, casual gesture when it happens. Evie's hands are bare at her sewing table, Ben sitting on the floor with Mal nearby, and she drops her seam ripper near his hand. They're so comfortable together that neither of them thinks before picking it up, and their fingers brush, and oh, they're stained bold blue and gold now. 

Carlos

Carlos's first mark is from his cousin. Diego darts out a tiny hand to touch his baby cousin's bare leg, and leaves a bold orange handprint behind, near the delicate curve of his ankle.

His mother leaves a lot of marks on his body, but none of them are soulmark-bright. Her marks, the ones that she leaves on other people, a white, like a floury handprint, or an old scar on pale skin, and he can see them on the faces of her henchmen every day. For a while he would count the silvery-white burn scars on his skin and beg for them to fade, to prove that they wouldn't turn out to be soulmarks after all. (They aren't, and they do all fade in time). 

Evie marks him by accident, on a hot  day when she sways a little too far and catches hold of his arm for balance. The blue smear from her hand is pretty. A nice change from red and black and white. 

Jay marked him a long time ago. When they were too young to deal with what it meant. The mark is dark and vivid, but mostly hidden under the collar of Carlos's jacket. Jay hides his under gloves, and it feels safer that way, so it doesn't hurt to keep them hidden. (it hurts anyway). 

Mal is one of Carlos's last marks. She puts a hand on his shoulder, after they already know they have two marks in common and are pretty sure they'll share one too. Lifting his shirt for Mal's orchid-purple mark is one of the first times his back sees the sun, and it feels right. Her mark sits lower than Jay's, not hidden, but something just for the two of them. 

Carlos marks Ben. It's one of the first times he leaves a mark on someone, rather than the other way around. It's almost an accident. Ben reaches out his hand while they're in the forest behind the school together, like Carlos is a princess who needs help climbing over the fallen tree on the path. Their hands are bare, and they both know it. Carlos reached out to take his hand, and the mark on Ben's palm blooms red and bright. The gold he gets in exchange feels like a new beginning.

Seeing a thing about soulmate AUs and like.

Soulmate AUs are one of my favorites. I love the idea of someone being so important to your life that fate marks it in some form.

But being aromantic, I disliked the idea of this importance taking on a purely romantic meaning. I dislike the idea that aromantics wouldn't have a soulmate, or if they did that they'd be forced into a romance that they don't necessarily want.

Instead, I view soulmates as like.. this person is important. They take a part of your life up in some capacity, and it's important. But the form this importance takes can differ, and I'm also fond of multiple soulmates. I call them soulwebs, because people are connected to each other in various ways, like a web.

Platonic soulmates are so important. Maybe a QPP, maybe a best friend, just someone who's there, and it's good, and it's important. So, so important.

Familial soulmates are also a thing here. Like in my soulmate AUs, twins are often soulmates, because they're usually so important in each others lives. It's the same with quite a few others, but twins are the most common.

There are soulmates known as "Fated Enemies", because their relationship is sour, it hurts, but my god is it important. And if push came to shove, they'd be there for each other.

Romance might be a form that these relationships can take, but it's nowhere near the only one.

i like the idea of, since their families are both societies, that they went to the same basic education together. and even if da sun and sleepy chan were bitter rivals, their sons going to the same school had them becoming friends despite it all.

in the present charles doesn't necessarily hate drowsy or anything. they're just "rivals" the same way kakashi and obito were rivals, and duty to his society requires him to be antagonistic towards him. but it's really not more than professional antagonism.

aaaaalso, i bolded toxic love because charles can't have any healthy relationships atm. drowsy's welcome to try and fix him though! he might actually have enough context to do it. LOL.

but first of all, thank you <333 and thank you so much for your service because I will keep on referencing that genealogy to finish this fic. I owe you my life.

the thought of Jenny & Eric being roommates is very Soft and I like the idea of it a lot, but in this fic and in the meta you reference in the ask, that was not the plan or intention of the au that I wrote. because, simply put, it's a jenate fic, and so it just didn't shake out that way, because the relationship the sereies revolves around is jenny's romantic/platonic/erotic relationship with nate, and not her platonic-soulmatism with eric. and, to bring about the how, when, where, why, why now? of where the sun falls down, Jenny needed to be in London alone.

before I dig in too deep on my Thoughts on this au-verse i so recklessly began constructing last summer, I gotta admit, writing the vdw sibs is hard for me. for a lot of reasons. one being that their upbringing and experience is so vastly different from my own that if I think about it too much I am kinda nervous to address it, and for serena she's is such a different person than I am that when I began writing fic, writing her pov never really occurred to me, and as for eric, his experiences and pain just maybe hit a little too close to home for me to want to dig into it. And on top of ALL of that, both eric and serena were done so dirty by the show, that I kind of feel that they need an extra amount of care given in fic, that I may not have the skill or spoons for.

so with all that being said, that's like, the meta reason Eric is where he is in this series, but my in-universe reasons to make the characterization make sense, is that Eric has to do his own thing for a while too. That's why we see him go to Sarah Lawerence, right? Other than to give Connor Paolo a graceful, soft exeunt from the show (interesting that he, the rich white boi was allowed to go with grace but Jenny and Vanessa's characters had to be destroyed right before they left it's whatevs)

So, in this au, I try to give Eric that, that space to heal and be as self-actualized as he deserves to be, and though I adore Jenny, and I adore their friendship, I think they need to be apart for a little while to give that for themselves.

and part of my opinion on that is my read that they are the closest friendship parallel to blair&serena (dan&vanessa come up second but this ask isn't about them). because, like, they love each other on a level that is deeper than a general friendship. if I may draw a parallel to another soap: they're meredith & cristina, they are each other's Person. and that is a profound relationship to have, but it can also be codependent and draining to put all of yourself into a friendship but that friend is struggling too, so they can't give you anything back, and so your both caught up in this maelstrom of betrayal and hurt feelings, and the only way to fix it is to gain some perspective.

and another parallel is that Jenny and Serena are both people that need to leave New York to find their happy, and Eric and Blair aren't, necessarily -- though they would thrive if they drummed up the courage to leave. so, Eric and Blair have to learn to let their person go, and learn that it's not about them.

I've talked so much I have no idea if this even answers your question, sorry lol. but I think that Jenny moving away would be ultimately beneficial to their relationship. and maybe, after a couple years, I could see Eric coming to England. Oh wait, I just remembered that I did write that once, where Eric does a semester abroad at Cambridge so he and Jenny hang all the time, and antagonize Dan bc he's at Oxford. (it's in this fic)

PYNCH SOULMATE!AU CW // I reference Adam's canonical trauma

Everyone has a soulmate but it isn't necessarily love at first sight. You have to learn to love them (it helps knowing that they're yours though) Their name appears, like a tattoo, a year before you're to meet them.

Ronan and Adam are fifteen.

Adam is surprised to see a boy's name but not unpleasantly so. He's sort of been sorting out that he likes boys as much as he likes girls. He thinks Ronan is a unique name.

Ronan has all sorts of fantastical, romantic ideas and daydreams about how Adam is. What he'll be like. He's the boy of Ronan's dreams! So he'll be absolutely perfect.

When Ronan and Adam meet, it takes them a while to come together. Ronan has experienced immense trauma and Adam (at the time) was experiencing trauma on a daily basis.

But they slowly and thoroughly learn and understand each other. Like calling to like.

Life waxes and wanes around them but they never waver. They're lucky to have met one another so early in life, to have more time to cultivate their relationship.

They love each other more than they had when they'd met and they would continue to grow in love as time went on.

I'm going to gush about each of your characters the more I learn about them and so I will start with Erebus cause I genuinely just *sobs* theyre so comforting

Erebus really sounds like someone I'd wanna hang out with! Not because they're high energy (cause obviously he's not) and not because theyre funny (cause... he's not LOL) but because he's so calming.

I like to imagine my MC going to Erebus and gently asking if they can sit with in the room with him, maybe read a book of his but if not then they just sketch in the corner, just enjoying Erebus's silent presence! Like they go to get a snack and they bring back enough for both themselves and Eri, offers it to them. Or they show off their work to Eri, just softly going "Hey, look, I finished another little piece". Or maybe, if Eri allows them, they read a stage play or novel of his and goes "I'll read it blind the first time, but is it okay if I come to you with questions when I read it again?"

And they know that touch isn't really accepted happily, I feel the same way a lot of the time, so little peace offerings of things that makes them think of Eri is just as good! Or sitting in the room with Eri and enjoying shared silence while they both do their own thing.

I just find a lot of comfort in Erebus and how they're written and portrayed. I wanna hold their hand and be their best friend! I love them, but like in the platonic, soulmate type of way. Romance is great, and I would kiss him in an alternate universe that'd let me, but I cherish him as he is and he's perfect the way he is right now and I wouldnt want him any other way. He's just so relatable and endearing, and while he's really really weird, so is everyone else in this world. Eri just makes it a little better, cause he's in it <3

i'm glad you like him a lot! i project some of my deeper insecurities on him to create a character in the space that's just kind of...mean sometimes, awkward in others, but in his loneliness he pushes to be alone himself.

since he's vietnamese (and i have the pleasure of being able to go to multiple people for writing and character advice for him), i really like how you used the idea of peace offerings, so he, like many others, would likely leave out a little bowl of fruit even if he's not there, as a quiet sign to show he loves and cares for you. the platonic bond is something he really would cherish. he doesn't necessarily need romantic love. he just needs a friend.

this may be one of the most thoughtful, fantastic, and dedicated anons i've ever read. it's so...i'm just really glad that you can connect to a character of mine so deeply.

Pretty big spoilers ahead if anyone is still concerned with that 😅

Pre-relationship 4. Who felt romantic feelings first? Matt did. They both harboured some vague attraction to each other for a long time, but he put it aside because he had romantic feelings for Asha and was enjoying the friendship he and Casey were building, even if it was a little more touchy-feely than appropriate.

However, he really struggles when she's in hell. At first he just assumes he's not cut out for leading, because although he's doing well on the surface, everything feels a bit off to him. It's only when they all get back, and Casey officially offers him the position as her first lieutenant, that he realises it wasn't having a leader he was missing out on, but her. She means everything to him and it's crept up on him so slowly he didn't even realise. So he just buries it and hopes for the best. Which leads nicely into...

Pre-relationship 5. Did either of them try to resist their feelings? They both did! Matt instantly knows he's fucked up in falling for the Boss, and recognises that he's already been ignoring the signs up until this point. He knows she's against relationships, he knows she'd never fall for him, he doesn't even know if she's capable of love which is why he ends up asking about that at one point. Of course when he finds out she is capable it makes it harder to get over her. He pretty much tries not to think about it for months on end. It does become more difficult when Asha, trained to be extremely observant of people, notices and points it out... bringing up 'L' word, and also inevitably ending their fwb situation.

Casey has a much more genuine repression of her feelings. Like in the back of her mind she knows he's attractive, but whatever, they're friends. She lets him get closer to her physically little by little because it's nice. It becomes familiar. At Christmas she has a real moment though when she sees him as beautiful with all the lights reflecting in his eyes and shit and it really throws her. She becomes convinced she's going to sleep with him at New Year's but it doesn't quite work out that way.

She realises the following week that it would've fucked up a really important friendship. Whereas he's trying desperately to get over her. So they maintain that they are just friends but they have this super close bond by this point. Unlike Matt she is not willing to hide them, though. She still doesn't want a *real* relationship. But she knows she wants *something*.

I didn't even realise at first that both of their moments of realisation come from missing each other. But it makes perfect sense. Their friendship is so close that it just becomes a part of their everyday life, it takes that disruption to really make them think. There's a quote I've been thinking about a lot in regards to them; "Absence diminishes little passions and increases great ones, as wind extinguishes candles and fans a fire.". By the time they have these moments without each other, their unspoken feelings are so strong that it's pretty much inevitable that the flames are getting fanned.

Pre-relationship 6. If you had told one of them that the other would be their soulmate, what would they think? Depends when. Imagine if it was during 2014 (SR3). They'd think it was the most ridiculous thing ever. Later on... well when they have those repressed feelings, maybe it would make them think about it and have the discussion sooner. But then again, I'm not sure they believe in soulmates. They believe that their relationship was something they built together, not something that was ever destined to be.

That's why I don't necessarily think they would be together in every universe. But my god... I will push them into each other's paths in as many as I can get away with ;)

PRE-RELATIONSHIP

How did they first meet?

k: they met at her plant shop? during one of hyun's time loops, he decided to buy a plant as an experiment. to see if it would stay even after he dies. it was seul's shop?

l: since she time travels, maybe their first meeting for her could have been under a different setting at a different time? 👀 she could have met future hyun and the moment she meets him during his time loop, she instantly knows who he is (but doesn’t expect that he’ll be stuck in a time loop) 

What was their first impression of each other?

k: hyun finally found a friendly face. he had been so stressed and frustrated by his situation, and the bustling city offered him no kindness. since he grew up in the islands, the contrast was becoming more and more stark during this time. meeting seul, who spoke with tenderness and treated him in goodwill, made him want to see her again. 

l: she doesn’t think she’s conversed with anyone more interesting. he has a way of speaking that she finds endearing and since she’s naturally a curious soul, she gravitates towards him instantly. being the good listener that she is, she’d hear out his thoughts and be as attentive as she could be. 

Did any of their friends or family want them to get together?

k: hyun's parents were overjoyed. he was a recluse all his life that they've lost hope in him settling for a family of his own. he was very odd even as a child so growing up, he didn't have many friends. he would get picked on too. not necessarily bullied, because he knew how to stand up for himself, but they would tease him for the unusual way that he spoke.

l: the only family member she’d have that’s still alive is her 70 something year odl daughter and she’d be wary and skeptical. more than anything i think her daughter is just trying to be protective over seul because hyun will age and seul wont and that means hyun will eventually leave her - this will upset seul but will eventually come to the conclusion that for once, she wants to do something completely selfish and for herself.  

Who felt romantic feelings first?

k: hyun, definitely. it was almost love at first sight.

l: agreed. if we go through with the idea of seul meeting a future version of hyun, i do think she’d find him attractive or maybe feel a certain something towards him? there’s just a pull there, though she wont think too much of it because past seul will probably be too guarded and skeptical.

Did either of them try to resist their feelings?

k: hyun did at first, because he knew it was very temporary considering his situation. after a while, when he realized she would forget him every time he came back, he just let his feelings unfold and relished in the fact that he could continuously see her.

l: seul would as well, only because she’d feel like she’s protecting not just herself but hyun we well from the pain that she might inflict on him. once her oldest daughter began to age beyond seul and left her no choice but to leave her, pretend to be the daughter, etc., seul made it a personal rule that she couldn’t get too close

If you had told one of them that the other would be their soulmate, what would they think?

k: hyun would say he already knew that she was his dark queen, destined to rule the earth and the underworld together.

l: after the time loop, her past self meeting with his future self (if its approved) and everything that they go through together, she’ll dreamily agree lol

What would their lives be like if they had never met?

k: hyun would just continue on with his time loop. they're literally fated by the universe.

l: seul would still be seul, fleeting and eccentric to others. guarded, wears her heart on her sleeve, wouldnt let a lot of people in.

Who initiated the relationship, and how did it go?

k: hyun had plenty of yolo moments.

l: agreed LMAO. i think at that point she’d just be emotionally overwhelmed but also relieved since this is when the time loop supposedly ends?

k: their first date was the second time hyun went to seul's shop? he just spontaneously asked her to grab coffee with him? unless u want smth more unique

l: this is fine. although the memorable date will definitely be the one where he freezes himself to death LOL

k: she was hyun's first everything lmao

l: he’s second everything HAHAHAHAHA. second husband. second marriage. second person who she finds out she’s terrified to losing to old age (after her oldest daughter) but just as important

k and l: hyun is 5'10", both jisoo and somin are 5'4" apparently

What’s their relationship with each other’s families?

k: hyun's parents have a good relationship with him. the dad is very distant and always just worked. he also preferred his free time spent with his friends rather than his own family, probably due to outgrowing his wife. but hyun has a bond with his dad. they're a lot like friends, more than father and son. hyun is a very loving son to his mother, followed her well, and was obedient. his tough facade would collapse whenever his mom was around.

l: seul would have been really close to her parents. she would have been a sheltered and spoiled child, specially since she didn’t have any siblings. towards her oldest daughter, she had a tough love kind of relationship with. for the longest time she was the only one who knew of her time travel and age situation so seul also felt that she had no one in the world but her. but as she began to age older and seul remained the same, she began to grow more fearful of the day when her daughter would be leaving her. towards hyun and seolhyun she’d be a lot more soft. i think she’d try to make up to seolhyun what she couldn’t provide for her oldest daughter.

k: not sure yet. ig this depends on whether they interact with the same people.

l: maybe the one from one tail, since hyunseul is supposed to be canon volunteers/affiliates

s: i think in public, the most seul would do is hold his hand or wrap a hand around his waist. but i can also see seul massaging his shoulders while checking on him when she puts him to work and labor around the plant shop, running her hands on his back, snuggle close when it’s cold.

k: hyun calls her his dark queen, my queen, my love and other doting terms. 슬기롭다 (seulgi robda) as in wise one, or 이슬 방울 (iseul bangul) for dewdrop, 이슬 방울 (achim iseul) as in morning dew, 산 이슬 (san iseul) as in mountain dew.

l: namchin, jagi/yeobo, as for the rest i need to get back on this lol

k: hyun has eidetic memory. he remembers everything, even down to the details, with perfect clarity.

l: seul wouldn’t be so bad at remembering the little details either since she’s a pretty detail oriented person. however she’ll probably be a little aloof about it

If they get married, who proposes?

- hyun proposed.

What’s the wedding like? Who attends?

k: it was a civil procedure in the city hall because they did it on the spur of the moment but i imagine they remarried in jeju? beach wedding?

l: we can say they remarried yes. his family would be there? her oldest daughter would be there too, but probably in the guise of the daughter being seul’s mom. a few of seul’s friends who she got closer with because of the shop/her affiliates in the business.

How many kids do they have, if any? What are they like?

k: one baby girl?

l: one but seul would probably want more LOL. seolhyun has traits of both her mom and dad. she’ll get the compassion for animals from dad as well as the really good memory. bubbly, vocal like her momma. i can see her gearing heavily into the arts and being really in touch with nature and spirituality once she’s a little more grown.

Do they have any pets?

- seul has one dog and one cat. hyun has 4 hamsters, but plenty of animals come to visit their home.

k: seul?

l: yes, most likely seul but only because she’s lived long enough and has gone through the whole thing when her older daughter was still a child

- no one is allowed to killed bugs when hyun is around. he's morally against killing any kind of creature of the earth.

- this question is very vague but i assume they're always together for holidays

l: yes lol, i can see her being a bad influence and encouraging hyun for more sleep. she also likes to nap so she’ll probably be convincing him for some daytime siestas, especially when the shop is slow.
