Let's talk about the dreaded pliant bones argument in ACOTAR
First of all, I don't ever want to see this stupid argument anywhere, especially after HOFAS. Second of all, none of the Archeron sisters are Illyrian so they do not have Illyrian anatomy suitable for childbirth. And yet, we see Feysand and Nessian as mates. So it's not like SJM even cared about that herself.
Then ACOSF happens, and oh no, c-sections don't apparently seem to exist and it becomes a BIG DEAL™ that Nesta changed only her own body and Feyre's body to have Illyrian anatomy.
People have been latching onto this argument like Rose on the goddamn Titanic, anything to cling to their sinking ship.
Let's not forget that Elain & Nesta had their bodies changed already once before, against their will. Why the hell would Nesta change Elain's body without obtaining consent after that traumatic experience? That would be a gross violation of bodily autonomy.
And Nesta was shown how to change the bodies. Which could hint that she still knows how, should a similar situation arise again.
But none of that even matters! What matter is that it's 2024 and we are still saying a woman can't be with the man she loves because she can't give him biological children. That is the crux of the argument Gw*nriels always try to skip around and say without saying. Like "oh no!! She can't have his babies!! Ship sank. It's over. The End."
As if a woman should be reduced down to her ability to procreate. This is not the middle ages people! Wake up!
Also, not to mention, even if we use that disgusting logic - The only other female in this series that is mentioned to have Illyrian anatomy is Emerie. Are we shipping Azriel with Emerie now? Because she can FOR SURE have his babies, if that's all that matters. Who cares about her own desires and personality and sexual preferences if she can have illyrian kids??
Now let's consider what people have been latching onto:
Gwyn...is flexible and adapts to training moves quickly. That's why Nesta commented she had "pliant bones", that's IT. She is part nymph and "has different anatomy than high fae", sure, but is that anatomy in any way, Illyrian? Water nymphs don't have Illyrian leathery wings either so I don't understand why insisting Gwyn has "pliant bones" is in any way endgame ship material. Why would her half-water nymph heritage give her the anatomy to birth a full grown illyrian-winged baby??
And then there's the cowards that use this argument by hiding behind SJM herself by saying "Well, I hate it too, but SJM is *kinda* known for writing like this and her characters are all male-dominated, fae-territorial blah blah, she is *kinda* hinting at endgame because the womb thing–" NO. No.
Don't hide. Tell the room exactly what you are saying. Which is the exact same misogynistic spiel as above, where you try to use gross medieval logic to justify your mf fictional ship, but you hide your faces when you say it. Because you know it's wrong, but you're still not above using that as "evidence" in your ship's favor.
I've even said before, I don't care what SJM says. If I don't like a misogynistic take, I am not using that as evidence in any capacity for any reason.
I'm not even being biased by my preferred ship. I genuinely just want people to stop using this argument because it's hurtful to women as a whole. Ship wars are fine, but ffs, when did we get to the point where we are pitting two women against each other based on whose uterus is more suitable??
And before you even say "I just have a problem because I ship Elriel" No. No.
It's about these kinds of cheap arguments in general. I have also never been one to go off saying how Gwyn can't be a valid love interest because her past SA trauma - That argument is also archaic and hurtful. I've never once used it. I don't like seeing it.
Can we just - Not do it? The only reason such arguments have gained traction is because they're constantly echoed by the toxic sides of the fandom online. It's gross and I don't want to be a part of a group that condones that.
Ship who you want, but let's just be respectful about it. We should not have to resort to cheap arguments like the above.

5 Tips for NaNoWriMo First-Timers
Tumblr media
Feeling nervous as a new Wrimo? NaNo Guest Demi Michelle Schwartz has advice for you! Read on for tips on how to make sure your first attempt at Camp NaNoWriMo is a great one.
Have you heard about the NaNoWriMo or Camp NaNoWriMo buzz? Are you on the fence about taking the challenge for the first time? If yes, I’ve been in your shoes.
Last year, I got a new novel idea I was eager to write. I love challenges, and NaNoWriMo looked like the perfect time to draft my story. Still, being a first-timer gave me nervous butterflies. Little did I know I’d win my first NaNoWriMo with a finished draft at 73,000 words.
Whether you’re planning on participating in Camp or thinking ahead to November, I have five tips for you.
1. Plot and Research in Advance
First, I can confidently say I wouldn’t have been successful if I didn’t plot and research. Having a solid story idea from the start gave my writing direction each day.
If you’re a pantser, this may contrast with your process. Rather than completely plotting the novel, see if you can at least plan major beats or turning point scenes. That way, you’ll have plot points to write towards.
Also, doing research in advance reduces the amount of times you’ll have to pause to look something up. You may have to google information here and there, but a head start will make these internet-surfing adventures minimal.
2. Plan a Writing Schedule
Planning a writing schedule is key. For me, I’m most productive when I first wake up before I’m swamped by the day’s tasks. Also, I write well before bed, as long as I’m not too tired. Knowing when you write best will allow you to plug in time to work on your story.
Also, look at your calendar and plan accordingly. Part of my NaNoWriMo goal was writing every day, but I had to work around other commitments. Last November was a busy month for me in my songwriting career. So, I had to adjust my writing schedule during busy release and press days.
Having a plan for when you’d like to write and being aware of days you can fit in more time with your story will give your journey structure.
3. Remain Flexible
I can’t stress enough how important it is to remain flexible. No amount of planning can prepare you for curve balls or days you’re not in a creative mood.
If you go into NaNoWriMo thinking all your plans are set in stone, you may find yourself feeling anxious when something veers off course. Remaining flexible gives you room to adapt while staying on track.
4. Interact with the Community
NaNoWriMo has a special community. Whether you’re connecting with other writers on the website or on social media, everyone is so supportive.
There’s nothing better than participating in an event where writers are cheering each other on and sharing experiences. You may make friends and connect with critique partners and beta readers. Most of all, you’ll realize you’re not alone as you take the NaNoWriMo challenge.
5. Celebrate All Your Wins
Finally, celebrate all your wins. Recognize when you draft your first chapter. Give yourself a pat on the back when you hit a certain word count. If you’re doing a streak, feel proud for writing several days in a row.
Sometimes, as writers, we only focus on our end goal. It’s important to remember the small wins along the way play a role in reaching the desired result.
There you have it. Those tips allowed me to succeed during my first NaNoWriMo. There’s an international community of writers ready to welcome you, so get out there and become a Wrimo!

OC/Spider-Sona Backstory: The Widow
Maitreyi Jokhar (she/her), Earth-20262, Present day, Spider-man/Black Widow variant
Part 1!
I'm planning on making this a series instead of one extremely long post, so her entire backstory up to her introduction to the Spider Society is probably going to be around two to three parts depending on how in-depth I decide to make it! Let me know if you have any feedback on my writing style or how I can make her as accurate as possible <3
Backstory & Powers:
Born in Andrapradesh, South India, she was kidnapped from her family at the age of 5 years old and never saw them again. Forced into a human-trafficking scheme, she was eventually taken into the Red Room program, better known as the Black Widow program, the same program that the MCU Black Widow was a part of before working for S.H.I.E.L.D. In this universe, the Red Room Program is an extension of H.Y.D.R.A., a Russian spy organization. From the ages of 7-14, she was trained alongside hundreds of other child soldiers to fight, kill and engage in acts of espionage and sabotage, eventually to join the army of mind-controlled Black Widows the Red Room program produced.
When she turned 15, she, along with 9 other young teenage girls, were chosen for H.Y.D.R.A's new adaptation program, where they experimented on some of their best soldiers/recruits to create a new kind of Super-soldier, after their hundreds of failed attempts to replicate the same serum used on Red Skull during WWII. Each girl experienced a different experiment, some being injected with powerful steroids, others having their DNA spliced and combined with others, etc... Understandably, none of these experiments worked. Except for one.
Maitreyi was placed into a leather chair and strapped down, quickly being injected with multiple paralyzers before being told to close her eyes and relax her arm. Doctor Hans Zola, grandson of Doctor Arnim Zola (Arnim Zola worked for the Nazis during WWII, which could be seen in the first Captain America movie), proceeded to inject her with a serum derived from the venom of a radioactive black widow spider, whom's DNA he had spent months perfecting to be able to link to hers accurately. 24 hours later, the process was completed and H.Y.D.R.A. had successfully created a super-soldier. However, this super-soldier wasn't the same kind as what they'd made during WWII with Red Skull.
Maitreyi did receive similar, but not the same abilities as the average Spider-person. She was unable to produce enough web for the daily, so she would use it limitedly, and only if completely necessary. She was flexible, fast and even acrobatic, as a result of years of Red Room training, but she did not gain the abilities of super-strength. She had to hone her strength herself after assimilating to the injection, through more time being trained by H.Y.D.R.A.'s best agents, specifically employed to morph Maitreyi into a super-weapon. One ability which was extremely beneficial for her future endeavors was her newfound intelligence and instincts. After being injected, she was able to better respond to threats, through enhanced reflexes (Spider-sense) and found that her problem-solving skills, especially those mechanical related (robots, machines, gizmos, etc...) were also amplified.
Only a few weeks later, she met Alexander Pierce. The man who took over Hydra after Red Skull's death. The man who's idea it was to turn her into a weapon. The man who was going to use her brainwashed, inhuman self to murder his own enemies until she was either captured or dead.
The missions started off small. Assassinating political leaders of minuscule movements in insignificant cities and towns. Kidnapping the children of runaway H.Y.D.R.A agents, destroying their lives, sparking fear into the hearts of the organization's enemies and even their allies. It wasn't until a few months later that Pierce sent her to the United States. He didn't disclose why she was going there. The only thing she had been given was a picture of an older man with an eye patch who Pierce claimed had something that "belonged to him." He told her that her job was to kill him. Not having a choice, not knowing that there was any other option besides compliance, she obliged. She wasn't even 16 years old.

A/N
Guys idk if any of this makes sense but I'm trying to create a storyline for her so its not like I just threw a random spider-person into the ATSV fandom and started shipping her with characters 😭. I want her to have her own backstory and reasons for her personality and stuff yk

Hi
I’ve been following your story for a while
And I think your recent post has been one of your best! The quality is so great!
And as a supporter I’ve been thinking this for a while, please don’t think I’m being rude- your story has so much potential I think it might be best for you to adapt to the “royal simblr trends” to level it up
So like skin details for your sims would make them look a lot better I think. Also putting more effort into decorating - I know not everyone is skilled at that (I’m definitely bad at it) but you can download good decorated rooms/lots for scenes and customise those
I’ve already noticed your story is not traditional (with themes like polyamory, your sims are also very tatted which is not normal in a traditional monarchy). I assume it’s just what you like which makes your story unique in that sense though some may not appreciate that.
I just (respectfully) feel like you can do so much more with your story if you took time to plan ahead, develop characters and storylines, instead of just making it up as you go. It helps to run things by people you trust and ask for brutal honesty
You don’t have to listen to what I’ve said but I hope you do and I look forward to seeing more of your story!
-from a secret loving fanboy!
Hello Secret Loving Fanboy,
First off, thanks for supporting my story! I really do appreciate that you read and that you feel comfortable enough to give me some critques. However I do want to address some of them.
What are a "royal simblr trends"? as far as I'm concerned, the only trend is to tell your story the way you want to tell it. And I plan on sticking to it.
In terms of skin details, nope. I mean some people like them, some people don't and I'm kinda in the camp that isn't a big fan of them so thanks but no thanks.
About my story being not traditional, YUP. Its not traditional. I believe in my story replicating the world I want to see which includes people loving who they want (by the way, my polyamory throuple was heavily researched based off experience from a friend and fellow simblr so if you don't like it, you can kick rocks). and..yeah my sims are tatted, guess what lots of people like tattoos, they look cool.
The effort in decorating, look...I'm trying to improve my building and decorating skills but sometimes, I can't be bothered. My story is my hobby and I may not be as decorated as some simblrs but I don't think it distracts from my story.
okay and to your last point:
You talking about planning my story, developing my characters and storylines and running things by people is a step too far. Again, this is my hobby so I do it in my free time. I plan some stuff because I have collab partners who like to plan, and I don't plan other things because I have collab partners who are flexible. I personally don't plan as much as possible because you know what, it ruins the fun for me.
Again, this story is my hobby. It's been my hobby since 2020 and I've made amazing friends over the years I've been on simblr but I can stop and start when i want because it's a hobby and I think real fans would understand that. Just sayin.

Hi there! My friend is going to be opening a toddler / child “play place” and she wants to develop a sensory room to help give a safe space to autistic or other neurodivergent children. She’s enlisted my help, but since I was diagnosed in my early 20’s, I really am not sure what would help autistic children. Not to mention the wide variation of symptoms!
So now, I’m gathering information. I know it’ll never be a “one-size-fits-all” type of thing, but we want to get as close and as inclusive as possible. Do you have experience with places like this? Or, would you have any suggestions? Thanks in advanced <3
Hi there,
I found an article talking about how to build a sensory room. According to this article:
How do you set up a sensory room?
Before designing the room it is important to consider:
1. The individual needs of the clients who will use the room. What are the ages, abilities, and needs of the individuals who will use the room?
2. How many individuals will need to use the room at the same time?
3. How the room will be used. Will the room be a calming area? Will it be used for therapy sessions including occupational therapy, speech, sensory integration therapy, or one on one instruction?
4. Keep in mind the long term use of the room. If all of your equipment is static, students can become bored. A good goal is to create a flexible space that allows you to create different scenes or moods depending on the emotional, cognitive, and physical needs of the students. How will the room be adapted to meet changing needs and keep it interesting?
Common Components of a Sensory Room
* Bubble tube
* Fiber optic sprays, or lighting
* Beanbag chairs
* Interactive Wall Boards
* Rocking chairs
* Stereo or MP3 Player with Headphones
* Therapy balls
* Lighting/projector that can display various colors & patterns
* Weighted blankets or weighted lap pads
* A flowing water fountain
* Bins with assorted sensory activities
* Aromatherapy diffuser kit
The full article will be linked below, as it goes into more detail:
I also found another article on what items to include in a sensory room:
What Items To Include in Your Sensory Room
Large crash pillows or mats
Bean bag chair
Body sock
A net swing or therapy sensory swing
Fidget items that allow for a repetitive moment
Weighted blankets or vests – the blankets and vests I linked to here are handmade by a fellow Occupational Therapy Assistant with a small business on Etsy.
Tunnel
Therapy balls
Sensory break cards
Books to read
A stuffed animal or favorite toy – the Soothing Sammy dog and program is a great option for preschool and kindergarten-aged children
Calming, alerting, and organizing activities for kids – free printable included to hang in your sensory room
The article will also be below if you want to read it too.
I hope these help. Thank you for the inbox. I hope you have a wonderful day/night. ❤️

My Twst Oc!!! Skip if you don’t want to read ^^. He’s a little bitch, but I love him <33 Hope @ryker-writes doesn’t mind me using their format for my character! I just didn’t know how to format it—
You can ask questions abt him if you’d like!
Tumblr media
His hair is dark brown and he has a strand of hair on top of his head that fades to black because of a hair dye incident with his big sister when he was younger. Purple eyes that have really heavy eye bags underneath and he wears silver glasses too.
Name: Fuyuki Amamiya
Personality: Calm, observant, reserved, flexible, hardworking, reliable, stoic, flirty (you’ll know why and how), vulgar, too tired to take crap from people anymore
How others describe him: Strange, magic-less creature, too blunt and serious, inactive, sluggish
Hobbies: playing games, sleeping, sleeping, more sleeping, working a side job at Sam’s, trying out Maestro Cafe’s newer drinks
Height: 175 cm (about 5’9)
Age: 16
Birthday: November 11th (Scorpio)
Dominant hand: Right

Talent: Adapting quickly, resourcefulness, and observant
Unique magic: None
Lore:
Meet the boy who had a life crushing experience as a child
Fuyuki was born deaf with a disorder causing him to never get enough sleep. Making him very tired all the time
His parents…
His mother was like Riddle’s mom two times worse (think of how Gothel was)
Narcissistic mother who cared about her appearance no matter what she had to do
Constantly watching what her children ate, only giving them food that had less than what they needed and picking out every one of their actions
She didn’t even believe the doctors when they said he had a sleeping disorder, just chalked to up to them trying to make her look bad
Comparing his sister to him all the time, always in her shadow despite him trying his best
Anytime he would try to talk back, a hard slap would be against his face or she would gaslight him into believing she’s right not him
Got to the point where he believed everything bad was his fault
He needed to be absolutely perfect for her to be a good looking parent
His father didn’t care about him being perfect but he did care about being useful
Any time he would catch Fuyuki sleeping or dozing off on accident, he’d shake him and start yelling about how he’s never going to be a proper and useful person
And alas, he grew up with the unhealthy obsession with being perfect and being useful
Until one day, his sister had enough. Once she was 18, she took him while their parents were away in the night and never came back.
Originally, his sister and him had different names but after running away, they both changed their full names
The unfortunate hair dye incident that occurred made a small part of Fuyuki’s hair black and it never washed off so he decided to just leave it on his head
Becoming closer with his sister, he began to see a whole new world outside of what his parents showed. His sister worked and he worked a small job in a convenience store restocking. They were pretty happy trying something new each month with what they could afford
He gets to sleep when he wants to, he finally got diagnosed, he’s not being yelled at or compared to
Even at his new school, he made two friends who he got close to!
He was happy with the life he had with his sister.
…until that night where a strange black creature with blue flames run across his room.

I am absolutely fucking banjoed after my first day. Like, it was in no way a bad working experience, in many ways I would say it's the nicest working environment I have been in since I was 19, but I was so tired and sore walking to the train station that I thought I was going to cry. But historically I have always adapted to being on my feet within a day or two of working a retail job, so hopefully that will continue to be the case. I'm on again tomorrow and then off until Wednesday, which is great and should give me loads of time to recuperate. We're off on Sundays anyway and then there's a bank holiday on Monday and I happen to not be scheduled for Tuesday next week.
Speaking of scheduling though, I have a full roster of my shifts for the next three weeks. Once the person who is off on medical leave comes back in mid-March, the manager can start giving us the roster five weeks in advance, which is brilliant. The manager accidentally put me down for later than I said I was available on Wednesdays and Thursdays a few days, but when I pointed that out she changed it right away because she'd just forgotten. I'm really glad I didn't just say I was fully flexible, because even though I don't think she's the type to try and squeeze every last drop of labour out of me, it's nice to have been told in the interview that my schedule would be accomodated and to not have to worry that that's going to be an issue.
I'm working a back week, so I think that I will be paid not next Thursday, but the Thursday after that and then I'll be paid weekly on Thursdays going forwards. I'm not stuck in the meantime, anyway.
Other jobbe things: there's a canteen with a fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster and several cupboards, which is a significant step up from my last job's "canteen" which was a tiny stock room with a concrete floor, no amenities and no chairs (I'd bring a plastic crate in to sit on and eat my sandwiches). I am not sure what the situation regarding milk and tea etc. is? I will check tomorrow if people bring in their own or if there's a kitty we pay towards or if it's something that management pays for out of petty cash. I might start keeping oats at work so that I can come in early and have a breakfast before I clock in.

Flexible Homunculi
Qoheleth had two origins, both hailing from 2016, not just one.
Tumblr media
The first and larger origin was a random conversation I had with some postfurries ages ago. What if you could just create a copy of yourself who could go to work while the rest of you could be a furry piece of trash online for the day, or perhaps you could have parallel monogamy. I still have those notes, by the way:
Tumblr media
The other beginning, though, was AwDae’s story, which began as a serialized novella called Getting Lost (and, later, Exocorticies). These were merged when I briefly lost my contracting gig during the beginning of COVID and the project became something else entirely.
However, I still think about the origins of that second story. In a similarly innocent way, I was thinking about how, in flow state, I cease to exist as Madison, and simply become whatever I’m working on. What brings me back to being are the petty discomforts of having a physical existence. My hands hurt, or perhaps I have to use the restroom.
Better, I say, to truly become whatever I’m working on, to have my body disappear and simply become the computer, willing words into being (or, at the time, Python).
Thus AwDae, delving in and becoming the sound system.
It was becoming the room. It was a new sensory experience. No limbs, no torso, no face or eyes or ears. Or maybe all ears: ey became the room, feeling the way sound echoed or didn’t, knowing the limits of the speakers in a deeply physical way. Mics peppering the walls a new sensory input. The wires nerves. The speakers muscles to flex. Instincts, reactions, and actions responding to whole systems of stimuli.
This extends (in several ways!) through the text to living lives as furries online, continually aligning one’s form to one’s self image in ever finer ways.
Well, it turns out that there’s a whole entire term for this: homuncular flexibility — the human ability to expand the sense of the body (the homunculus, the mental map of ourselves that lives in our brain) to shapes other than our own.
This essay seeks to explicate an unorthodox idea that spans psychology, neuroscience, psychology, philosophy, and computer science called homuncular flexibility (HF). HF posits that the homunculus—the part of the cortex that maps movement and sensing of body parts—is capable of adapting to novel bodies, in particular bodies that have extra appendages or appendages capable of atypical movements.
How neat is that?

Spotting Trends with Confidence: My Fx Trend Stalker Review
As someone who's been navigating the forex market for a while, I'm always on the lookout for tools that can enhance my trading experience. While I've dabbled with various indicators, nothing quite prepared me for the precision and user-friendliness of Fx Trend Stalker. Let me share why this digital software has become an indispensable part of my trading arsenal.
Tumblr media
Effortless Trend Identification
One of the biggest challenges for any forex trader is pinpointing trends with accuracy. Fx Trend Stalker tackles this head-on with its clear and concise visual indicators. The software utilizes "Buy & Sell Neon Lines" that illuminate directly on the chart, leaving no room for misinterpretation. This eliminates the guesswork and allows me to focus my energy on making informed decisions based on the presented signals.
Adaptable Timeframes and Currency Compatibility
Versatility is another key strength of Fx Trend Stalker. The software functions seamlessly across various timeframes, from the fast-paced M1 to the more strategic M15. This adaptability empowers me to tailor my trading strategy to suit the market conditions. Furthermore, Fx Trend Stalker boasts compatibility with all major currency pairs. This flexibility ensures I can apply the software's insights to the forex instruments I trade most frequently.
User-Friendly Interface and Hassle-Free Installation
I'm no tech whiz, and thankfully, Fx Trend Stalker doesn't require one to be. The interface is incredibly user-friendly and intuitive. The software integrates effortlessly with MetaTrader4, a widely used trading platform. The included user guide provides clear and concise instructions for installation and activation, making the entire process smooth and hassle-free. Within minutes of downloading the software, I was up and running, leveraging Fx Trend Stalker's valuable signals on my live charts.
A Confidence Boost for My Trading Strategy
Since incorporating Fx Trend Stalker into my trading routine, I've noticed a significant boost in my confidence. The software's clear trend identification and compatibility with my preferred timeframes have allowed me to refine my entry and exit points with greater precision. This has translated into more calculated trades and a newfound sense of control over my forex journey.
Not a Guarantee, But a Valuable Tool
It's important to remember that no forex product guarantees success. Market conditions are ever-changing, and a healthy dose of caution is always necessary. However, Fx Trend Stalker equips me with a valuable tool to navigate the complexities of the market. By providing clear trend signals and adapting to my trading style, the software empowers me to make informed decisions and approach the forex market with greater confidence.
In conclusion, Fx Trend Stalker has become a trusted companion in my forex trading endeavors. Its user-friendly interface, adaptable functionalities, and clear trend identification make it a valuable asset for any trader seeking to refine their strategy and navigate market trends with greater precision.

Writing Initiative #8
You have now had a chance to present your finalized body of work (2D, 3D, 4D, Experimental, Reflective) to the class for feedback and discussion.
As we conclude the semester, please write a summary of your experience as a final blog post, including responses to the following:
What have you learned about yourself doing this self-directed assignment?
One big thing I've learned is how important it is to manage time well and stay disciplined. When you're working on your own project, you have to be responsible and organized. This experience has helped me get better at deciding what tasks are most important, setting goals I can actually reach, and using my time wisely. These skills don't just apply to art—they're useful in lots of areas. Additionally, this experience has shown me how important it is to try new things and be open to experimenting. When I step out of what's familiar to me, I often discover new ideas and ways of doing things that I wouldn't have thought of otherwise.
Another important part of this project was learning to let things happen naturally without trying to control everything.I've found that when I stop trying to control every little detail, I give room for unexpected and exciting things to happen in my work.  Especially since most of my projects were drived with letting things unfold on their own. As I had to wait for the movement of the flowing paint to distinguish the final outcome of the pieces or the growth of the bacteria determine the overall look of the 4D project.
What did you find to be the most difficult aspect of your chosen assignment? Creativity? Research? Connecting design to research? Craft? Organizational skills? Time management? Something else entirely?
The most challenging part of my assignment was connecting my designs with research and translating them into physical pieces that reflect both the research and the meaning of my chosen word. I had to balance being creative with making sure my work had depth and meaning. It was important that my craft not only looked good but also communicated the ideas from my research. Additionally, working on the craft aspect proved to be demanding. I had to rely on letting some elements evolve naturally, which meant waiting and observing over time to see if they worked as intended. This took patience because sometimes I had to start over or try different approaches until it looked right. Overall, combining my designs with research and turning them into physical art was a big challenge. It pushed my artistic and creative skills while also testing how well I could adapt and keep going until I achieved the desired result.
What did you enjoy about this opportunity?
I really enjoyed this opportunity for several reasons. First, I loved learning new skills and exploring different art mediums. It was exciting to step outside my comfort zone and try things I hadn't done before. Working with hands-on materials was particularly enjoyable compared to digital platforms like design software. Another aspect I appreciated was the freedom from specific briefs or fixed outcomes. This assignment allowed me to pursue what I wanted creatively and have a unique outcome that differed from my classmates. I liked having the flexibility to present something different and explore different ideas without strict guidelines. I loved the flexibility to experiment and see where my creativity took me. Overall, it was a rewarding experience that allowed me to explore.
How would you rate your performance over the course of the semester?
This semester, I feel like I did well overall, especially in terms of giving and receiving feedback and learning from my classmates. I made a conscious effort to approach each class with an open mind, ready to absorb new ideas and insights. It was great to see how much I gained from these interactions and how much I could contribute as well. I must admit that I struggled with procrastination at times and didn't always push myself beyond what was comfortable. However, I worked hard with the resources I had and tried my best to make things work, even when they didn't go as planned. There were moments of frustration and feeling like I could have done better, but I remained positive and persistent, pushing through challenges and staying focused on improvement. Despite the ups and downs, I'm happy to say that I ended the semester feeling accomplished and satisfied with my progress.
Hindsight is 20/20. What would you do differently, now that you've had this opportunity to work this way?
Looking back, I realize that there were opportunities I could have approached differently. One aspect I would change is my willingness to tackle intimidating challenges, such as incorporating interactive components or working with digital editing. These areas felt daunting at the time, but now I see them as a path for growth and innovation. I think I could have tried harder to make artwork that was more challenging for me. Trying out new ideas or techniques could have made my portfolio even better and pushed me to be more creative. This experience has shown me that taking on challenges is important and can help me grow as an artist.

Last week, you talked about BDSM contracts, but you didn't spill how you vibe with them. I'm low-key curious about your take on them. What's your feel?
BDSM contracts are an intriguing aspect of the lifestyle, but I find that they do not quite align with my preferences and approach. While I appreciate the structure and clarity they can provide, I also feel that they can be too restrictive for my taste.
One concern I have with BDSM contracts is that they have the potential to limit exploration and experimentation within the dynamic. Relationships naturally evolve, and new desires or boundaries may emerge as partners grow together. A rigid contract could stifle this evolution by locking partners into predefined roles and expectations, leaving little room for spontaneity or adaptation.
Moreover, I value the fluidity and adaptability of my relationships. I believe that communication, trust, and ongoing negotiation are paramount in BDSM dynamics, and I prefer to maintain an open dialogue with my partner rather than relying on a written document to dictate our interactions. This allows for greater flexibility and responsiveness to each other's needs and desires, fostering a more dynamic and fulfilling connection.
While BDSM contracts are not my preference, I do appreciate the value of having rules and expectations clearly defined, consented to, and written out. This formalized agreement helps eliminate misunderstandings and assumptions, fostering a clearer understanding of each other's boundaries and desires within the dynamic. For me, this takes the form of a more informal agreement rather than the detailed structure typically found in a contract. By outlining expectations and boundaries in a clear and agreed-upon manner, both partners can navigate their dynamic with greater confidence and clarity, ensuring that their interactions are grounded in mutual respect and understanding.
That being said, I recognize that BDSM contracts can be incredibly valuable for many within the community. For some, they provide a sense of security, structure, and clarity that enhances their experience and strengthens their bond. I respect the choices of those who find comfort and empowerment in using contracts to define their dynamics, even if it is not a choice I resonate with.
