The Ridge Tunnel Complex. Though vast and featuring outlooks throughout the Essek ridge, a few small windows and manicured towers are all that reveal the existence of the Ridge Tunnel Complex to the uninformed passerby. With entrances hidden amongst the valleys and cliffs, disguised by boulders and mainly unmarked, the tunnel complex was always meant to be a somewhat secret outpost for the desert militia. While it's become a moderately popular destination amongst spelunkers since it was abandoned after the Essek Campaign of Forscur almost eight decades ago, the vast majority of entrances remain hidden and the windows high in the cliffs, making entry a daunting task even for the experienced caver.

Day 19: No CtrlZ/Backspace/Eraser
Tumblr media
DannyMay is rentless with these challenges! ヽ(。◕o◕。)ノ
Since I'm doing these pieces of art in the traditional way, I had to improvise adapt overcome: no Eraserhead!
(@amorpho I thought about you when I was choosing the character to do this challenge on! (。•̀ᴗ-)✧)
As you can see, my poor cat Amorpho took the brumpt of my clumsiness, as the tail got a bit too angl-y for my tastes, and their tip had to be modified into a tiger one because they're "shapeshifting" to mask the error I made on it... (^~^ ;)ゞ
Anyway! Amorpho is an unifentified/untyped blob-like feline who can morph into anyone! (Yes, they have ghost cat-ears on their hat, don't @ at me! (ノ ≧ωΦ)ノ) Plus, I'm proud to announce that they're Nyan-binary, so they/them pronouns! ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ
(A shout out for @tourettesdog for inspiring my Ghost Animal Noodles AU with their Little Baby Man!)

Note
For the no ctrl+z challenge, I'm scanning in something done with ballpoint pen. Am I allowed to apply the usual filters I use to get a better black and white representation of the scanned page as long as I don't remove any of the lines?
Yeah totally! Go for it!

thinking about how they said grover was affected the most out of everyone bc he was alone and how nico and bianca stayed for 70 years inside that hotel and didn't forget each other bc they were always within reach and how that little detail makes their story even more devastating bc they got through it together and the moment they got out they get separated and then bianca never comes back

In the same vibe as Percy choking Akhlys, may I suggest :
Nico causing wounds to necrotize. Even from a small scratch on your finger, it spreads so fast your only hope is an amputation asap.
Jason holding the air still in your lungs. You're not dying because you don't have air, but because you can't get it out and are literally choking.
Hazel controlling stones in jewelries. Imagine getting chocked by your necklace, your finger being sectioned by your ring, being handcuffed by your bracelets, your head being crushed between your earrings...
Thalia manipulating the electricity in your body. Causing your nervous system to move in certain ways, or just shutting down your brain activity.
The big 3 are terrifying, and I wish we would've seen them (others than Percy) being more op. Cmon Rick, show us reasons the gods are afraid of them !

The Small Island. Living on the Small Island is considered an honor, though the realities of the situation make it more like an obligation than a duty members of the public are clamoring to take on.
It's only a month stint and necessities like food and water are provided daily, but it's also a month away from the comforts of home carrying out a largely ceremonial role where your only real company is The Chiliad Tree which, while storied, provides little conversation. Hundreds of years ago the honor was restricted to the clergy, even at one point hiding the tree within a small perimeter wall to prevent secular eyes from a glimpse, but over the years the grip of the church relaxed and the republic, in its various forms, took over the main governing roles, including protection of the Chiliad Tree and access to the Small Island. Today it's a bit like jury duty. Many citizens dread the monthly lottery and, though a peaceful break is welcome, an entire month is a bit long to be away from your daily responsibilities for most. Some families treat it as a coming of age moment with sons and daughters volunteering when they turn 18 as way of connecting with the past and instilling a sense of community and dedication. Finally there are the few clergy-members and worshippers remaining that continue treating The Chiliad as a relic, appearing off the coast of the island for prayer, volunteering regularly to care for the tree, and occupying the island for their ceremonies and rituals about 50% of the year. Many petitions have been proposed to return The Small Island and The Chiliad Tree to the permanent care of the church, but, as in most circumstances, the republic is reluctant to relieve any control.

Sources for Somerton's Plagiarism from Hbomberguy's Video (as much as I could get)
I went back through Harry's video, focused entirely on the sources James Somerton pulled from in the hopes of creating as much of a comprehensive list as I could--though my Google-Fu is not very strong. I did however find something I thought was forever lost and that made me very happy--specifically the magazine Midlands Zone containing the column by Steven Spinks that Harry poignantly used as an illustration of gay erasure... while Somerton uses it to sound like HE is waxing remorseful about the very subject.
This is not a complete list, I'm sure. For one thing, I was only able to attempt to pull sources that Harry himself mentioned in the video. Surely there's so very much more out there. I expect there to be a great deal more internet archeology to unearth just how much writing and culture Somerton has stolen like he's the British Museum of Natural History but for gay people.

Harry's list of mentioned youtubers:
Alexander Avila - https://www.youtube.com/@alexander_avila Matt Baume - https://www.youtube.com/@MattBaume Khadija Mbowe - https://www.youtube.com/@KhadijaMbowe Lady Emily - https://www.youtube.com/@LadyEmilyPresents Shanspeare - https://www.youtube.com/@Shanspeare RickiHirsch - https://www.youtube.com/@RickiHirsch VerilyBitchie - https://www.youtube.com/@verilybitchie
Harry created a convenient playlist of videos by these and other people he wants to bring to everyone's attention.
Please give them your support.

Midlands Zone Magazine - Column by Steven Spinks
After a great deal of searching, I found an archive of the "Midlands Zone" magazine, where you can read through past issues dating all the way back to February 2014. I have also found the issue from which Somerton took Spinks' poignant discussion of gay erasure: Overall archive Specific Issue - Pages 16-17
It will not allow you to download it, but you can read it exactly as it appeared in print form.

I refrained from including certain sources.
First off only focusing on Somerton's work.
Secondly not including anything that might be visible enough to not require amplifying their voice (I cannot speak for all of those I have found links to, but journalism is frequently a thankless job).
Thirdly any source that is of a nature that is antithetical to the very existence of the queer community, such as the right-leaning source that didn't make it into Somerton's video, but Harry was able to identify as a source he had considered using.
If you feel I have missed a mentioned source--or you know of a source from material that was not covered in Harry's video--please do not hesitate to reblog with added details.

Please share this information far and wide, and please add to it if you find more material that can be positively identified and linked to the creator/writer.

The survivors of District 12 singing and dancing at Finnick and Annie's wedding hits so different after reading/watching tbosas. Can you imagine Snow's reaction to that propo? No matter how hard he tried to erase Lucy Gray and to obliterate District 12, she lived on in her music, music which is kept alive by the people of the place she once called home.
