Okay, here are a few random ideas I thought of:
The village coming back to life as people find it again, and Elderbug watching happily
Young Hornet, possibly with her mom or with her nail when it was too big for her.
Sly before he becomes a merchant, when he was the Great Nailsage. Possibly while he was teaching young Oro, Mato, and Sheo.
Cloth reuniting with Nola. (Nola us mentioned a lot by cloth, but Nola is never actually seen in the game.)
Anyway, these are just random ideas. Happy drawing, and enjoy your hyperfixation :D

Decided Sly gets to have had a fluffy collared cloak in the past that the Nailmaster Brothers decided to copy for their own signature cloaks. Honestly, everyone deserves a fluffy collared cloak.
Then of course tiny baby Hornet is always fun to draw.

Please explain your Nailmaster Oro and Lost Kin headcanon, I would like to hear it very very much.
GLADLY !!!!!! (thank u sm for this ask :]]] )
so, assuming the vessels all have the same base experience when they escape the abyss and head into hallownest, Lost Kin in theory starts off with the same base abilities that you have at the start of a playthrough. no nail arts, charms, etc.
i bring up nail arts specifically, because one of the attacks that LK does in the boss fights: the dash attack
Tumblr media
which. to me, personally, looks like the dash slash !! which is the nail art that you can only learn from Nailmaster Oro (in-universe, maybe you could also learn it from Sly, or one of the other Nailmasters despite it not being their speciality? but this is just going off what i think would be most likely rather than all the possibilities ever)
it has the same moment of charging up, and then the overall appearance of the attack just looks like the dash slash. it has further range, but LK is bigger than Ghost, so that could be one explanation for that
Tumblr media
also, relatively to the rest of hallownest, the two of them aren't actually that far from one another ! and the path isnt too complicated. Oro is definitely the easiest nailmaster to get to from LK's room, so i dont think it'd be a stretch to say that they could've made the distance while not infected
the final 'evidence' point (and the weakest) is that LK does the same bow the nailmasters do, when they are beaten in the dream realm
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i say that this point is a bit weak, because other characters also do a bow, like grimm and the mantis lords, so it may be more widely known in Hallownest's society to bow after a fight/duel/whatever. however, LK's room's closest (least complicated to get to might be more accurate?) character that canonically bows in respect after a fight is... oro ! so i choose to believe this is where they got it from
AND NOW... THE SPECULATION
this part comes second to the previous stuff i provided and is more just things i think about now that im committed to the hc
Oro is very reluctant to take Ghost on as a pupil, and remains very distant emotionally, especially when compared to his brother Mato. this could, technically, be explained by the feud between him and Mato leading to his isolation, and some other stuff going on in his past. which i do believe contributes to it !
but another thing that may also contribute to specifically having an aversion to accepting students and getting close to them... well... what if he previously had a student that left, or he got separated with for whatever reason ? and that student never came back ? the only company anywhere near his isolated hut, and theyre gone and he doesn't know where they went or what happened to them
final and strongest propaganda point: reluctant mentor figure that eventually has to admit that he does enjoy the company of his mentee, and mischievous mentee that incessantly bothers the mentor trope dynamic. that is all

Poem about the final bosses of each Pantheon. I'm running out of things to say here. Um, nice weather we're having. These bosses are very interesting. There are duty-bound brothers, a retired Nailmaster, the Vessel in its purest form, the literal God of light, and a little bug with a comically large nail. Thanks for reading ♥️

Sorry, I know your ask box is closed so don't force yourself to respond if you don't want to but. Do you have anything else about Rung in Hollow Knight. I just love the idea. Does he befriend Cloth. Does he adopt the Grimm baby. Is he like a 2nd grandpa to the Nailmasters brothers. Please I would love to hear more about your ideas 🙏🙏🙏
God, I love this AU. I have so many ideas and plans for the fic I'm writing so forgive me if I end up rambling a bit.
First of all, let's discuss Rung's transformation upon being 'reborn' in Hallownest. He's still made out of metal and most of his most recognizable features (his blue optics, antenna, sparkwindow etc) remain, he now looks like a bug. To better blend in among regular bugs, Rung wears a poncho/cloak that hides his sparkwindow.
As for what kind of bug he looks like, I'd say a mix between an ant and a bee. To other bugs, he looks like a city bug, a noble, with deceptively thin and frail looking 'exoskeleton', no claws or fangs and slender limbs. He's also considered extremely handsome by bug-standards because I think that's funny.
Rung arrives in Hallownest before the kingdom falls to the infection but after the Pale King creates the vessels so some characters that appear in game aren't born yet while others are still alive.
The Nailmaster brothers are still young and being taught by Sly and while the brothers just think Rung is some old bug, Sly immediately senses that there's something special about him (he's probably met the White Lady and the Pale King at least once before so he recognizes the aura of a Higher Being). They end up becoming friends and start gossiping.
FUCKING SOUL MASTER. Since Rung canonically can ignite hot spots by just stepping on the ground, I imagine that he's practically a living super soul-totem, giving off a seemingly endless amount of soul. And you just know that Soul Master is going to find out about this and come up with some nefarious shit. Kidnapping and experimentation ensues, with Ghost having so save their new dad.
Speaking of mad scientists and experiments, FUCKING MONOMON. She learns about this new Higher Being that's not only immortal and made out of living metal but also originates from ANOTHER FUCKING WORLD WHAT and oh the data she could collect. The knowledge. TO THE LAB!
Now, I know that Godseeker finds and ends up in Hallownest after it falls but for the sake of this story, she arrives way earlier. Why? Because the intensity of Rung's light guided her. He's millions upon millions of years old and it wouldn't surprise me if he's the oldest Higher Being in the world of Hollow Knight. In Godhome, his light can be seen even when Godseeker is far, far away, like the distant sun in our own sky.
Edit: Added picture of what bug-ified Rung might look like.

What's nailmasters folly out of curiosity? Hope I spelled that right
You did spell it right!
Nailmaster's Folly is a Hollow Knight fanfic that I dropped for over 4 years, and then inexplicably picked back up again this year. I have,,,, another few chapters ready on it to post I just haven't posted them yet because, as is my want, I keep forgetting the fic exists.
The fic centers on Nailmasters Oro and Mato, estranged brothers who, after a chance encounter in the Colosseum of Fools, are forced to deal with the reason for their estrangement. In the process, Oro must face down the anger and resentment issues that caused everything in the first place, and Mato must learn a thing or two about the ingloriousness of (almost) dying in battle.
It's the only Hollow Knight fic I've ever put even a remote amount of effort into, and whenever I think I've gotten it beaten, much like Oro's anger issues, it likes to stand back up and kick me in the face.
If you want to watch me struggle in real time, you can find the link here. Be wary: half of this fic is four years old, and the other half I'm clearly trying to relearn what it was about in the first place.

you mentioned keeping quirrel alive. if i recall, after he take the mask off in the Archive he mentions felling old(as if the mask was keeping him young to fulfill his duty). so how old do you place him relative to other mortal bugs like elderbug and zote
He would certainly be on the older side, though I do think the mask slowed down his aging process a bit (aside from maintaining his peak form, which is the main reason why he felt so tired and old after losing it).
I imagine he was very young while he was Monomon's student/apprentice, maybe even a teenager (since the bugs reach maturity sooner, he would technically be an adult while being around 16 or 17), so he was given the mask while still young. The dreamers went to sleep around 45 years prior to FPK waking up from hibernation, and about 50 years prior to now (as a point of reference: Lewk was born about 4-5 years after FPK woke up frim hibernation and reunited with Grimm, Asta and Milo were born a year later, the current AU timeline is "frozen" 2-3 months after they were born).
So Quirrel would be nearing 70 now, which is about the average lifespan for most bug species in the AU. But with the mask slowing down his aging, I think he's physically closer to 50. Still considered old by their standards, but not near-death old. He still has plenty of life left in him, he's just not as youthful and strong as he used to. This is why I imagine he decided to spend the rest of his life continuing Monomon's legacy, to honor her and to live the time he has left in peace.
Elderbug is actually far younger than that, I place him at just under 40. He was stated to be the oldest bug in Dirtmouth, and because its population was very low for the longest time (and the mortality rate was high due to the infection), nearing 40 would be an achievement worthy of such title. He was born soon after the infection returned, so he didn't experience the short period of peace after Holly's sealing.
Zote, as I mentioned before, is actually fairly young, in his early 20s I imagine. He looks and sounds older because of bad genes and his desire to sound more like a mature warrior. But he's very much a confused young adult, no matter how much he tries to hide it.
Iselda and Cornifer are similar in age, they would be in their 30s. I think Iselda might be a little bit older than Cornifer, but it's a difference of a few years at most.
Ogrim is a strange case if I'm being honest. He's been around for many, many years, far longer than the average lifespan. It's possible that FPK somehow halted the aging process of his great knights, or at the very least slowed it down significantly (if that's the case, then perhaps he was also responsible for Quirrel's slowed aging. Maybe it was Monomon's last request?). He was around for the encounter with The Shade Lord/Black Wyrm, which happened around 50 years before FPK's hibernation, but he was already a knight that so he could've been born 20 years prior to that. Let's go with that (I don't think the exact numbers matter here), that means he was 70 when FPK disappeared, and adding the 35 years when FPK was hibernating and the 5 years after his return, that would mean Ogrim is around 110 years old. Quite an impressive age for sure. But with the slowed down/halted age, I think he's closer to 50. I do think his species has a longer average lifespan than most species in Hallownest, so he's not actually that old in that context. But definitely not as youthful as he once was.
Tiso is in his 20s, similar age to Zote. Lemm is 30-40, Sly is in his 40s, the nailmaster brothers are nearing 30. Lurien didn't age during his time as a dreamer so he's in his 40s.
I'm definitely missing some characters here but these are the ones off the top of my head.

Sorry I'm just gonna ramble about the Nailmasters and Sly for a moment. I recently read some fics which has reignited my love for this game.
These are mostly unorganized thoughts.
It's been so long since I've played this game, but I remembered really liking them, and would sometimes visit them for fun. They were really nice to see in this dying world despite the strain in their relationship, it's funny too in a sad way because they're the only family that is left alive yet they're separated. Really hope that they make amends at somepoint after when the game ends. The only other few bugs who are left are the ones who reside in Dirtmouth and in Kingdom's Edge but those guys are in their own world.
How did the Nailsmith traverse that obstacle course near Sheo's home?? Asuming that the shortcut isn't a thing, even so how did he fit through that tiny gap jump that required a specific move??? Dude and Cornifer have secrets they're not sharing. (I died 100 times when I first did it)
Sheo/Nailsmith and Cornifer/Iselda makes me happy, I love finding the little bit of happiness in hopeless scenarios.
I like imagining Sly being a father to 3 children who grew practically four times the size he is. He needs a personal stool or jump on them if he needs to scold them. Nobody likes it when the fly pulls out the stool.
Thinking how his furniture was most likely him sized before meeting the kids and they either had to get new furniture or the brothers just grew used to using tiny tables and stuff.
Still never fought Sly though.
Mato was a surprise to see when I first met him, for a place that is supposedly secret without knowing, you think that he would be a boss and there's even a bench. But no he's there meditating. I go to him when Gorb gave me a tuff time.
Mato is great. :)
I don't go to Oro often since there's not much for me in that area, but I think he thinks lowly of the colosseum. Also seeing raining corpses is not a nice view, though I guess he grew desensitized to it.
Ghost makes the whole family feel a little bit of pain after showing off the nail arts and charm and they've learned from each of them. Glad to know that they're alive somewhere but it's been so long since they've seen each other. (but also there's still that tension between Mato and Oro)
Wondered what Sheo and Sly felt when that fight happened between the other brothers. Was Sheo already thinking about giving up the Nail, was the argument partly the reason? Or was it something he decided later on? I like to think Sly tried to reason with them (as well as Sheo) but whatever it was, it's clear that they should not be involved.
Uh I'm done now, but I want to share the fics I've read.
Tales of a Nailsage
Tales of a Sage
Ticky Wicky
Funeral Plinth
Mind's Creation
Oro and Mato are Dumbasses (I like a nice silly fic once in a while)

opinions on the nailmaster oro? i think hes a great guy
Although obviously not as great as me, he is one of the best nail wielders I have seen. He has also followed precept 22, 'abandon the nest' by leaving his brothers and his teacher to live on his own. I fully approve of this "nailmaster", even if his title may be an overstatement.
