(2) Butler: Forgive my impudence, but surely a visit to the Palace calls for something more formal? A fancier cloak or perhaps a brooch? Lurien: For what purpose? Butler: Master? Lurien: What purpose would such a garb serve?

(3) Butler: Well, it would be a show of respect, to the King and his court. To others, it would show your status and rank. Lurien: Precisely. It is for show. Which is why I have no need of it.

Lurien's design for the FPK AU! I still have to design his outfit (both his Watcher robes as well as his current look), which includes figuring out how to fit his wings under clothes, but this is what he looks like unmasked! There might be some changes to the design between now and his proper ref sheet, but I'm happy with how it turned out.

As you can see, he's inspired by both birds and butterflies. None of the characters in my AU are a specific irl species, bug or otherwise, but I still wanted to include a nod to the popular butterfly Lurien headcanon haha

I'll add more info about him and his role in the AU once I have a ref sheet complete, but if you've been reading my ask responses then you might have an idea what he's up to. I decided to add some background info about him to this version though, with more to expand later.

Some design notes not included in the picture:

-he has three eyes, but his vision in the smaller two is poor; the middle eye, on the other hand, has incredible sight, basically as good as an eagle's

-his blue wing markings and antennae glow when in contact with Lifeblood, implying some distant connection between the substance and his species

-his species is omnivorous, leaning towards a fruit and nectar diet

-the membrane on his wings is strong, but it cannot regenerate when torn or clipped

-he has feathers on his arms, wings and neck; the rest of his body resembles chitin
