the people have spoken . i'll go ahead and share some additional thoughts on this then.

albedo's sketches of you feel more candid in nature. they have this casual, day-to-day vibe, as if he were depicting snapshots of your life. you stretching with your shirt raising slightly to reveal your navel, how it'd look if you fell asleep at his desk, smiling softly with this gentle look in your eyes... he's essentially drawing his fantasies of you. for the time being, you have some 'reservations' about him, so this is the only way he can see a version of you that isn't glaring or spiteful. he keeps the art on rotation depending on the mood for the day. there's a sketch of you winking playfully for when his spirits are high, a sketch of your arms out to receive an embrace when his spirits are low, and many others.

kaveh basically draws reference sheets of you. there's your front facing view, side profile, and back, all faithfully recreated by his neat penmanship. naturally, he does this for every outfit he's ever seen you wearing. these sheets are hidden in a suitcase under his bed with a blanket placed on top. alhaitham will offhandedly mention that your pocket should've been a few inches higher and cause kaveh's soul to leave his body. he would've liked to have pictures of you to stare at, since that's the most accurate, but taking pictures of you from afar would be creepy. he can't have that! this method has got to be more socially acceptable... he thinks.

scaramouche secretly captured this one picture of you beneath a drizzle of sakura petals, your hand extending to catch one, this look of awe written over your countenance. he is obsessed with it. it's your expression he's particularly bewitched by — that's how he wants you to look at him. isn't he far prettier than a stupid little flower petal? he certainly thinks so. any unfortunate fatui underling who has stumbled upon their harbinger gazing softly at this picture goes missing under 'mysterious' circumstances. knocking is a vital skill to learn within the ranks if the fatui goons want to live long enough to see their pensions.

the person who accepted zhongli's commission to depict you is somewhat regretting their life decisions. zhongli is absolutely adamant on every single feature of yours being captured perfectly. he knows the shade of your hair under every possible lighting, the exact circumference of your pupils, how many eyelashes you have... he doesn't think it strange either. doesn't it make sense to have all this information on his dearly beloved memorized? the poor artist has to do multiple touchups to meet zhongli's strict standards. at least they're compensated well for their troubles.

kk wow you went so much more in depth than i thought but that was awesome. sending another but pls take all the time you need to answer this one.

i don't think i realized you had a colored version of two of them til today because i was going off of the sketches you posted at the start of the month. the one that caught my eye in that and who i have a different perspective of now that i've seen full color is the shortest hero. you mentioned that the clothing didn't come from any one culture, but if you have an answer it would be cool to hear: what's the long cloth hanging off of the waist belt of this hero called? or, if it's part of the belt, what's the name of the full thing?

So first, to answer the question, there’s actually not a very easy answer for what that long cloth is called! It shows up quite often in fantasy outfits and armor of knights, and you might sometimes find it being called a tabard or a surcoat online. Really though, it’s closer to something called a monastic scapular, which is a western Christian garment that hangs over the shoulders and goes down to the knees.

The tabard is usually some form of light tunic or jacket worn over chainmail and underneath armor, and I think in fantasy armor the stylization of it as longer and thinner towards the bottom eventually turned it into a pretty common thing? But the point is that it’s usually attached to something hanging from the shoulders and not just from the belt. But having something hanging in front of the crotch from the belt does have some precedence in the Roman pteruges, so this might be where that kind of belt fabric came from.

So in the hero of yore designs, the pieces of fabric hanging from the belts aren’t actually very historically accurate, and follow more the trends of fantasy outfit design. But mostly they act as a sort of conisistent point between all the heroes that shows each hero’s insignia. This sort of hanging centerpiece of fabric has been a pretty consistent part of my designs for a really long time, though in my previous Kirby designs this mostly took the form of some part of a double breasted coat, like so:

But yeah! On another note, while the hero of dark’s outfit isn’t based on any specific culture, the hero of soul’s (the butterfly hero) outfit definitely is based on Japanese clothing! The very long sleeves are based on furisode, but there are some liberties I took with the whole design as a whole, I.e. the pants are based on hakama in construction and shape but don’t actually have all the pleats a hakama should, and have added slits for style. You generally also wouldn’t wear hakama with fancy long kimono I think, nor would you use a tasuki with it. Tasuki are generally used to keep the sleeves out of the way while doing activities, while long sleeves are more ceremonial and decorative. I did intentionally keep the sleeves very long on the design, however, for character reasons that I might go more in depth in if I ever make an individual outfit breakdown post.

I’m sorry I didn’t get around to answering about the symbols! I also have a lot of thoughts about them, so I might also make a separate post about that haha

So. I made an RTC swap au!!

It started just with an idea of John Doe!Ricky that I had for a pretty long time, but recently I decided to turn it into something cooler, so I made this whole thing. Maybe I'll sketch their designs later (or at least make picrews of them), but idk how much time it will take. I haven't change some things, like the relationships between some characters, because I thought it wouldn't work very well. But, this isn't fully finished yet, so there's some moments that may be changed in the future.

I imagine this AU more like a play, than a musical and honestly I really don't think that it'll become something serious, cause I'm not that good at writing and creating full stories, so, at least at the moment, it's just for fun. Also, the designs are based on the 2016 cast, but feel free to make your own interpretations with your favorite cast. And maybe someday I'll make them too, we'll see. Anyway, hope y'all enjoy it!! (Pls excuse me if there are any mistakes, english isn't my first language, blah blah blah. Also there are a lot of spoilers for rtc, so if you plan to watch it — don't read further!)

So, first is Penny — the most imaginative girl in town. She's super silly, sometimes awkward and doesn't really have any friends because most people think she's weird. Penny often gets left out or bullied, and she uses escapism to cope with this + all the stuff with her parents, who she didn't get enough love from. Her fantasies is a bit different from the original Ricky's: they don't have a lore, she just makes up random stories to escape from reality and writes them out sometimes. She *definetely* writes fanfiction and probably posts it online. For some reason people find it cool, but no one in the choir knows about it. She's still a Seven-Up fan and she plays the ukulele (that will be used in the new birthday song for Ricky)

I changed her design just a bit, now she wears a lot of accessories, mostly pins (bc I headcanon the og Ricky having them) and it's mostly based on Emily Rohm's Penny, while her personality is more like legoland Penny's.

The next is Ocean — the angriest girl in town. Like the og Mischa, she hates her parents (but in this case they aren't adoptive) and their lifestyle, but instead of becoming the most succesful to prove that she's different from them, this Ocean just becomes a total mess and starts hating everyone. Idk if I will make her like shitty rap about money in autotune, but she definetely has a history of stealing stuff from stores, lol.

Design changes: messy hair; she doesn't have a headband and a tie, her shirt isn't fully buttoned up. She wears a sweater vest over it with a short skirt (a dress, actually).

Then we have Constance — the most succesful girl in town. She's a big nerd and spends a lot of her time studying because she wants to be the best. In general she behaves just like original Ocean and treats Noel like Ocean would treat her in the og musical (they're besties, but not really). She's pretty mean and very ambitious. This Constance doesn't have as much love for her town as the og one and she plans to move out (and become a premier minister of Canada, maybe :p) She's the one to make the final vote in this AU and of course she will choose John Doe/Ricky.

I haven't change a lot of things in the design, but her hair isn't dyed anymore, buns are down, she has a tie and maybe some hairpins. In general she looks a bit more tidy

Next one: Noel — the nicest boy in town. A complete opposite to the og Noel, he doesn't want to change anything in his life and enjoys living in Uranium. He's still super homosexual and has a big crush on Mischa, and, as I've said before he's "best friends" with Constance who treats him like shit and makes jokes about how he's never gonna breed👍🏻 /ref

He's really insecure about himself, but very friendly with everyone else (especially Mischa). He still enjoys all the french stuff, but you know, in a less... horny... way. And his mother is a baker and Noel often helps her in their cafe

He now has a short-sleeved shirt, round glasses and half of his hair is purple (it's also a bit more messy). In general I didn't change a lot in his design, but I made him such an UwU softie boy /j

Then, Mischa — the most romantic boy in town (ah yes, this one is for you, Mischa simps). He's still in love with Talia and his backstory is the same, but instead of becoming an angry rapper, he became a sad romantic guy, who dreams about moving to Ukraine with his (probably non-existing) internet fiancé. He just wants to be happy :(

Design changes: his clothes and hair aren't that messy anymore and he has a black jacket (like the one chance theatre Noel had). Also his nails are usually black or any other dark shade!!

And! Finally! My best creation yet — John Doe!Ricky. Perhaps, the rest of the choir doesn't remember him (well, in fact they do remember him, but it's a different theory and I don't want to bring it here) because he couldn't talk and no one really noticed him. The only person he was pretty close with was Penny, but still, they weren't even friends, they just standed close to each other while the choir was performing and both sat in the back of a rollercoaster when the accident happened. There will be a role-swapped version of the Savannah scene, but I don't know what name should I use instead of Savannah yet (if you have any ideas, please drop them in the comments!! I'll be very grateful)

When he gets choosen by Constance he'll came back to life as Ricky and yes, he WILL remain disabled because I'm a very big Ricky fan + a very big ableism hater, don't expect that shit from me👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻 Also he will still have 14 cats because. Why not. I love cats.

The only thing that will change is the fact that he's a little happier now?? People around him treat him better and he doesn't have to fantasize about fucking cat-people from Zolar to be happy lol. Oh man I'm writing a bit too much about him sorry I just love this guy a lot. Bless his little heart

Okay, so he has a head stolen from some super swag dressed in a Bowie-like style doll that for some reason was in the warehouse. He has a big purple star around one of his eyes and some parts of his hair are also colorful (purple/blue/pink). His clothes isn't very different, but maybe I'll add some more accesories

Hello friend. Here's a very small thing for you. I have a vague idea for part two if you (or anyone else) want it?

Drabble 002 (part 1) 576 words

Eddie Munson was a lot of things to a lot of people. Luckily, you didn’t care too much about what other people thought. And while you knew he was smart and totally wanted him to graduate, you were kind of happy to see him back in the hallways of Hawkins High for another yet. It meant you would finally share classes. Senior year, baby.

The next thing to do was to, you know, talk to him. That was turning out to be a much more difficult task than any of the work assigned in class. Opportunities were abundant but backbone, not so much. Eddie was just so goddamn pretty and anytime you tried to say anything to him you lost yourself in his stupid puppy dog eyes.

None of it was very metal of you. And that’s the thing… you were kind of metal. You listened to the same bands as Eddie. You worshipped at the alter of Ronnie James Dio, just like he did. It was in your blood, and when Eddie glanced over at you one afternoon and he saw the sketch in the margins of your English book, he learned that about you.

The sketch was the other Eddie, the one who represented Iron Maiden. Your version was wearing the dumb sailors uniform the dweebs at Scoops Ahoy wore but was otherwise still his zombie-esque self. The usual Eddie, the one who represented the freaks and geeks of Hawkins, started to take far more notice of you.

That wasn’t to say he hadn’t noticed you. He had. You were kind and gentle, and seemed different to your peers. You were glued to your Walkman and read fantasy novels. Yes, Eddie Munson had certainly noticed you.

Finally, on a Friday afternoon, he made your world collide with his. You were on your way to the library when his unmistakable voice called after you. He was calling your name and that alone was enough to fuel your fantasies for the weekend.

“Hey, glad I caught ya,” he said, grinning. “What are you doing tomorrow night?”

You had a date with your record player and self-pity. Metallica was playing a show in Indianapolis but it sold out before you could get tickets.

“Um, nothing,” you said, aiming for nonchalant, hitting close enough.

“Me and Jeff were gonna go see Metallica, but he got grounded. So, I have this spare ticket… if you maybe wanted to, like, go with me?”

He held out the tickets, let you take them in your hands.

“I know we don’t know each other well, but I’ve seen your drawings. Think maybe we have some stuff in common,” he continued. “And I did my research. Your dad works with my uncle. Wayne said he'd put a good word in with him. Promise him I’m a complete gentleman.”

Holy shit.

You nodded before you could speak, trying to buy time while you thought of something to say.

“Just say yes,” Eddie said like he’d read your mind.

“Yes. Definitely. Yes,” you quickly replied.

Eddie twirled on the spot and did a little victory punch to the air. “You hold onto those for us. I’ll pick you up tomorrow. Maybe a bit early? We can get dinner in the city first?”

“I’d like that,”

“Alright then. I’ll let you go re-borrow The Hobbit,” he said, taking a step back.

“How did…”

“How did I know? I know a lot. I’m observant... I’ll see you tomorrow. Midday.”

Midnight Furies: My current favorite comic, has been for a couple years now. Urban fantasy basketball. It’s got a shark lesbian and a Best Girl and a sorta himbo and just some SUPER cool art. Read it

White Noise: At least to me, this one’s got a strong focus on grief and community and relationships. And xenophobia. Lots of fantasy creatures and magic in a modern setting. A good comic if you like world building. It just finished its first story arc and has a big backlog, so this is a very good time to start reading!

Shot & Chaser: Tre and Olly, a matched set, go storm-chasing. I found this one because of a short sort of nsfw sketch comic that made me fall in love with Tre and Olly. I first read it less than a month ago and I’ve reread it in its entirety about four times

Check, Please!: This one’s completed! Eric Bittle (Bitty) is gay and just started playing college hockey, and the comic covers his years on the team! It’s very cute and sweet, and I love the support that Bitty gets from people around him throughout the comic.

O Human Star: This one’s also completed! It’s sci-fi, it's got robots and it discusses gender and queerness and being out and being closeted. The last pages make me cry every single time I read them.

Barbarous: I love love love the art and paneling and colors on this one. Percy is a super smart magic school dropout helping maintain/run an apartment building (I can't remember the job description) along with Leeds, a big monstrous-looking guy with, shall we say, some secrets. It’s got some really cool “who is the monster and who is the man” vibes

I'm trying to focus on non-webtoons here but I can't not recommend Lavender Jack. It's only on Webtoon, as far as I know, but I ADORE it. Think batman-style crime fighter but with Spider-man levels of banter, and also he's a 1910’s gentleman. This one's also completed!

Also, and I cannot stress this enough: if you like a webcomic, go follow the artists/writers on social media. They often share webcomics and creators they like, which leads you to more webcomics to read. I found out about a lot of these from artists I was following.

Lia's sleepover

Hi lovelies! So I just saw I hit 1.5k followers. And like holy shit, I was just celbrating 1.3k not even 2 months ago, its honestly so crazy and I'm so thankful for all the love and support! The sleepover will begin today, July 18th until Saturday, July 23rd. That's how long I'll be taking requests/asks specifically to be included in the sleepover. And on Sunday, July 24nd I will be posting the writing requests. Though I will answer any send me things asks throughout the week.

Some Art I Make turned 5 today!

A rather sad personal reminiscence under the cut, beware. And one important blog-related announcement. To be short, this year was hell, but I'm ok now and hopefully I will be drawing for more fandoms than just WTNV in the future.

So, to be honest the last year was an ugly nightmare. Infinite thanks to WTNV which basically saved my sanity. You might've noticed i posted nothing but Carlos sketches since January.

But by now I've successfully escaped my hellhole of a home country and several toxic relationships with colleagues, friends, family members even. (I'm basically a refugee now?) Sure it is overwhelming but this is for the best, and I already have great plans for the future.

I was unable to bring most of my tools for traditional art (which I prefer to digital) with me, so if any of you wondered why the hell I posted nothing but digital since October, that's because by some luck I managed to buy myself a used tablet just couple of months before relocation. I still got watercolors and pencils with me, but no means of properly scanning artworks, so I'll mostly do digital now I guess.

Good news to all of this - I got more free time now and also finally the mental capacity to expand on my art. Don't be surprised to see stuff other than WTNV on my blog in the future, I've went through my old sketchbooks and found lots of cool wips. So most likely there soon be posts for Final Fantasy 6, Pathologic, Overwatch (Lucio), Death Stranding - all my previous hyperfixations and who knows which new ones. I still got tons of ideas for WTNV too, don't worry. And I might even finally start my own original comic I had in mind for more than two years.
