Cute moment with a kid at the aquarium the other weekend ❤️ fun fact: i cannot really see through the glass. i just hope the children don’t wander away and leave me looking like a fool blowing bubble kisses to no one
So I'm a mermaid. Are y'all interested in some of my mermaid stories? we'll start with this one.
I swim at the local aquatic center in a mermaid tail three times a week. There are always kids there for lessons or parties, but as I swim in the competition pool, I usually only see them on my way in and out or in the dressing room. The reactions have grown since the netflix docu-series Merpeople was released.
The other day I walked in carrying my mono-fin, wearing a scale pattern swimsuit, and I have a starfish hair clip I leave on my water bottle when I'm not in the water. This little boy about 4 or 5 years old saw me and absolutely lost it. "Mom. Mom. MOOOOM! THE MERPEOPLE ARE HERE! THE MERPEOPLE ARE HEEEEEEERE!!!" He looked like he might vibrate right out of his skin.
His mom looked over at me embarrassed and said, "He's very excited to see you." I smiled at him, but that was a little too much and he ducked back behind his mom. As I walked by, I heard a much quieter, "The Merpeople are HERE!" It absolutely made my day.
Like, (the original) Ariel has those two very distinct fins and not much else going on, whereas some mermaids, like Aquamarine or Madison from Splash, have those sort of unified, fan-like fins. And then there are fancier ones, like the live-action Ariel, with really flowy designs and extra fins everywhere.
What kind of tail would you want if you could be a mermaid? And what color would it be? 🧜🏻♀️
Definitely the live action Ariel’s tail! Not only is it super pretty, but also all those extra fins make swimming faster and allow for easier maneuvering. Not too picky about colors, but some bright bold vibrant color would be nice.
(Funny I have a mermaid tail that looks like Mala’s)
