OTP WRITING PROMPT - Through The Seasons

Winter: Only person A has gloves, so they give away their left glove to person B. “What are we going to do with my right, and your left? It will still be cold.” inquired B. Silently, A intertwines their hands, blaming the cold for their flushed face. B stares straight ahead and realizes warmth won’t be a problem, they feel enough of it in their chest.

When Valentines comes around, they both shove chocolates into each others arms and awkwardly run away, faces aflame. The next time they hang out, they don’t mention it. Until Person B smiles, pulls out the chocolates they got from A, and offers to share. A blushes and pulls out the chocolates they got from B. They share each others chocolates. They don’t realize, until they’re each lying awake that night, that this means the other was keeping their chocolates with them the whole time.

Spring: Person A adores the Springtime- all flowers and fruit and greenery and new beginnings!! Person B despises it. Probably has something to do with the fact that they’re allergic to pollen. Each find the others love/hatred impossibly endearing. Despite their allergy, B gets A flowers multiple times just to see their face light up. Their hearts light up too, but no one knows. Yet.

Summer: Overcome with heat (don’t nobody DARE take that out of context), Person A strips to undershirt layer/puts on swimsuit/ sweats through clothes and Person B can’t take their eyes off of all that damN SKIN-

A notices them watching and subtly flexes muscles/unbuttons shirt/rolls up shorts/etc just to see Person Bs eyes go wider and wider. A also tries and fails to pretend they’re not obsessed with Bs frizzy hair. Why?? Why is it so... cute?? B hates their summer hair, but it's just so big and fluffy and... oops, A keeps touching it. Honestly, it’s too hot to touch eachother, but that doesnt stop them from trying. 

They’re out getting ice cream when A’s cone goes crashing to the ground. As they’re pouting, B places their cone on front of A’s nose. A turns to B, surprised. B’s arm, they notice, is outstretched like a promise, and B is glaring at the ground. “In return for the glove last winter.” A somehow manages to feel even hotter in that moment. “I-I didn’t know you still remembered that.” B shrugs, looking up in time to see A lick the ice cream cone that they’re now sharing. B can’t look away, and in some god-forsaken act of impulsivity, A winks at them. It’s quiet for a while after that.

Fall: Person B suggests going on a walk, A wholeheartedly agreeing. “No way you’re going out like that!” Says B. “Oh come on, it’s really not that cold out!” Retorts A. “At least take this.” B wraps their scarf around As neck, accidentally brushing As collarbone with their fingertips. Neither break eye contact, even when they’re blushing. The hope that the other might like them back has been growing all Spring and Summer, and the yearning is reaching its breaking point. 

Going outside, Person B comments on how pretty the landscape is. A says “not as pretty as you” without even thinking. It’s as if the words fell out of their mouth. Both of their hearts are threatening to explode, because A never flirts explicitly, not like that. 

The yearning is cracking. 

They’re nearly done with their walk, but as they’re turning a corner/rounding a bend Person A slips and falls backwards, only to be caught by Person B. They’re looking at eachother. They see only eachother.

The yearning is splintering.

The only thing A has to do, and does, is flick their gaze down to Bs lips. “Can I…” they whisper. A can’t finish, do B does it for them. “Yes, please.”

And the yearning breaks.

To this day, neither know who pulled who, but they DO know they crashed into eachother like magnets, lips against lips, finally, finally, after a year of pining gazes and longing touches. They married in fall, 2 years later, and have never felt happier/more fulfilled in their entire lives.

People against piracy fail to realize that no, I can’t just ‘buy it.’ They stopped making DVDs and Blu-Rays. They’re barely offering digital copies for download. I am not spending money I could use for food or bills to pay for a subscription service just so I can always have access to a beloved piece of media. Especially not when the service will remove media on a whim without concern for how the loss of access to that piece will make its artistic conservation nigh impossible.

For example, I recently learned that Disney+ had an original film called Crater. It’s scifi, family friendly, and seems cool - I would love to buy it as a holiday gift for my little brother! But: it’s exclusive to D+ and THEY REMOVED IT LITERALLY MONTHS AFTER ITS RELEASE.

The ONLY way I can directly access this film is through piracy. The ONLY available ‘copies’ of this film are hosted on piracy websites. Disney will NEVER release it in theaters, or as something to buy, and it may NEVER return to the streaming service. It will be LOST because we aren’t allowed to purchase it for personal viewing. If I can’t pay to own it, I won’t pay for the privilege of losing it when corporate decides to put it in a vault.
