Murf's Top 50 Mods - Part 3 (2020 - 2023 Edition)

I made a Top 50 list (Pt 1 and Pt2) back in 2016, talking about mods that I've used & love. But with all the goated content that the amazing TS3 community continues to churn out, I NEEDED to update my list! This one in no way diminishes or negates the other mods I've already listed--like, I shouldn't have to sit here and explain how NRAAS continues to carry TS3 on its freaking shoulders, ok. This is just MORE mods, the Top 50 most RECENT ones I've tried out since, like, quarantine.

I am a VERY niche simmer--I love fantasy gameplay, so my fave mods are the ones that not only offer general quality of life improvements, but also add new abilities and interactive objects inspired by different cultures, time periods, or genres. So y'all already KNOW which ones have earned my top spots. They're not based on which mods are "better," just which ones I personally have been using the most.

1: Smooth Patch, LazyDuchess

I've already gushed about this mod, but oh well. Like--I use an EFFTON of CC. My Live Mode gameplay itself doesn't tend to lag so much as my game's slow to LOAD, slow to save, CAS is a nightmare, I can do my taxes waiting for the Misc Decor section to open, etc etc. But the Smooth Patch loads everything so much quicker for me! 😭

One thing is that on the EA App version (curse you, EA) the Master Controller package didn't work on my end, so I took it out, but everything else has been great!

2: Search Mod, LazyDuchess

Speaking of the Misc Decor section -- HOW LONG did we ask EA for a Search function y'all? Only to be ignored. Then the second TS4 is released, it ain't got a effing thing in it, but it's got a Search function??? 🤔 ISTG it's like the simgurus were told to take all of the TS3 community's best suggestions, and poach them for TS4 (like vampire coffins--NO I'm not over it!). WHY do modders have to do your frikkin job for you, EA?! I call EA lazy all the time cuz EA you suck, so it's the most ironic thing ever that LazyDuchess is out here KILLING IT.

My ONLY "complaint" about the Search mod is the position of the icon. I use A LOT of Collection Files, and I noticed that the Search icon actually covers the Delete button when in the Collection viewer. So I can't delete items in collections with the Search icon in the way.

But this is a MINOR nitpick--I almost never delete items, it's just something I noticed is all.

3 - 8: OCCULT MODS: EVERYTHING by @puddingface1902

Y'all already know the Enhanced Witches mod is my favorite mod ever made. But PF1902 also made cool enhancements to the Fairies, Genies, Vampires, Werewolves, and Mermaids too! My sims are usually Nraas hybrids (e.g.: Sakura is a faery, witch & plantsim; Magnus Bane is a witch & genie; etc.), so it's FANTASTIC having so many new abilities for my magical occults. 😍

9 - 11: OCCULT MODS by xantak22

Even more occult mods at MTS are for enhanced Plantsims, Ghosts, and Mummies! I was dying for more Plantsim abilities, omg, they're my 3rd fave occult after Witches & Fae.

12: Sim Control Tools by Knight

Sooooo many quality of life mods have come out! ^0^

I've been ABUSING the Teleport To Me function, to quickly get sims off of lots & where I need them to be. It also lets sims unlock more Social/Romantic interactions. (Now all we need is a way to interact with sims from EA's useless thumbnails.)

13 - 18: @anitmb's mods

There are SOOOO many--most I've yet to even try. But so far newer ones I've been using are the Deck of Cards (FINALLY something other than EA's bulky AF poker table!), Farm Mod (look at all these CHICKENS!), and Hunting mod so my 8000 archer sims can actually hunt! (Ofc I've also used the Woodcutter and Anvil mods in my older gameplay posts, too.) And @mspoodle1's edit of the Cup of Tea mod is so pretty.

19: @mspoodle1's Poker table

Another excellent cards mod is this medieval style poker table I use a lot now, too.

20: @omedapixel's Wildflowers DR

I like EA's default wildflowers from SSNS, but Omeda's are just sooooo much nicer. (I haven't gotten around to trying out their Harvestable Plant DR yet.)

21: Swordfighting mod by CyrusBanefort

En garde! This mod is so freaking epic!

One thing I've noticed is that the game lags while it waits for the mod to boot up (a message has to first pop up saying it's running when you first launch your saves). But other than that this mod is excellent.

22 - 24: Yoga rugs

I've long been using the yoga rugs by Kitabalibar and the edited one from @mspoodle1. But now there's the newest one by @twinsimming, with brand new animations & features. The more the merrier I say, LOL. What's especially neat is the kids wobbling around as they try to do yoga! :3

25 - 30: TheSweetSimmer's mods--so cute! :3

Omg so frikkin many, I can't even catch up! The interactions are so freaking precious, like from the More Toddler Interactions (cuddle, look at, etc) & Biggest Little Mod (hug legs), I've never had so much fun playing with kids! <3 And I LOVE that they can Catch Butterflies and Pick Flowers--you'd think plantsim children would be able to do this by default, EA! Honestly, just grab everything by TSS, your kid sims will thank you!

31 - 33: @spheresims Medieval/Nature/Tribal mods

Y'all know I'm crazy about the Functional Fireplaces mod (the cauldrons, baby! 😈), but the One with Nature and Wildlife Hunting mods are great too, perfectly complimenting the off-the-grid realness.

34: @olomayasims/Cmomoney Smoking Mod Overhaul

The original smoking mod was on my first Top 50 list, so it's awesome seeing it get new upgrades, interactions & animations.

I've never smoked IRL, but sooooo many of my sims just puff-puff away; I'm such an enabler. U_U Now all we need is cigars and pipes!

35 - 38: Callia-Evergreen/Camkitty's CAS CC for animal hybrids at MTS

Not a "mod" per se, but whatever--my list my rules! I love ALL of their CC, but I get SO MUCH use out of animal-themed CC like the digitigrade sliders, wolf feet, lizard tails, and fae wings. Do check them out if you like to play with horror and monster-sims!

39: @greenplumbboblover's Sheep

EASILY one of the most incredible mods I've ever seen. Like....HOW? (Once @omedapixel's Goats are done I'm gonna start screaming someone do llamas pleeeeeaaaaase!!!)

40: Arsil's musical instruments mod

I used the sax most recently in my IWTV gameplay, and it was excellent, perfect for the NOLA vibes! However, although I use the flute A LOT more (for my Untamed gameplay--it's been such a GODSEND!), I really wish the hands were positioned better, preferably using the poses from Chisims' flute poseset. (But I don't eff with poses/animations, otherwise I'd do it myself. U_U) Ah well, it's still one of my fave mods though.

41 - 42: Flower Arranging mod by zoe22 + @mspoodle1's Florist Collection

Guys, I've been wanting this mod since FOREVER! ^0^ (I swear, the best thing about TS4 is all the 4t3 conversions, LMAO!) I just wish Teens could Dabble and use it, too--all they can do is stock the table.

43: Just Sit/Nap Anywhere by FloTheory

Sometimes you just want sims to fall asleep anywhere, DANG, EA!

44: @sweetdevil-sims' Toddler Food DR

Cuz EA's food is UUUUUUUUGLY~! I kept forgetting to install it, only to be rudely reminded every time I had to look at my toddler sims eating MUD.

45 - 46: @mspoodle1's mail pen quill DR and @omedapixel's pencil quill DR

I looooove quill pens IRL (ballpoint pens, not the fountain pens--I'm way too messy), so having mods that let my sims use them too is 👌

47: Fireflies Enhanced! by Canibal_MLO

I love anything that enhances the wildlife and collectibles/harvestables to be more dynamic and interactive. And I was JUST about to do a firefly catching scene for my IWTV insp. gameplay, so this came right on time! The falling leaves effect is delightful, but I kinda wish it was falling flower petals instead, cuz ofc I do. 🌸

48: Unicorn Aurora DR by Canibal_MLO

GORGEOUS. This mod replaces the unicorn mist with northern lights, like.... I love the genius ideas simmers have.

49: Custom Plumbbob Color tool by CrossTheMersey

What a neat idea! Although the default Maxis colors are ingrained in my psyche, with the iconic green plumbbob, as soon as I saw this mod I knew I wanted to at least try something different and play around with it.

50: @aa6x7's Teru Teru Bozu + other edits [Honorable Mention]

I rave about Cmomoney's Time/Weather Mod all the time, I use it constantly. AA6x7's Teru Teru Bozu (Japanese "Sunshine Monk" charms) is kinda like a simpler version of it, as it just resets bad weather back to Sunny. But it's such a cute idea and perfect for my gameplay. Plus, AA6x7 makes all kinds of neat edits/mods to EA's bulky AF meshes, so if you haven't checked them out already, DO!

And that's all the mods I've managed to try out recently!

I don't have anywhere near the kind of free time that I used to, so my simming has been put on the backburner and I've missed all kinds of cool and exciting releases. But trust: I am taking note, so that I know what to try once I have time.

My ball park theory for TWP/TBVOTD is that the mysterious disappearance Kit and Ty are going to be investigating is the disappearance of the one and only Magnus Bane.

I know what you’re thinking: Emma, why would you think that? (And honestly, I wasn’t sure until I was talking it over with @tsc-reader )

Well, this theory hinges on two main, plot-driven points:

1) That Magnus is quite heavily involved in the whole Ty-Livvy necromancy ordeal, as well as Livvy’s stability as a ghost/wayward spirit (which Kit is also quite heavily involved in, whether he likes it or not)

2) that the TMI gang are going to be in another realm [at some point] during TBVOTD, which occurs, chronologically, in line with TLKOF. (I also theorise that the realm they’re going to end up in is either Thule, or Lucifer’s realm. The former seems more plausible, given that the book is named after the Black Volume.)

Picture this: Magnus goes missing. This, as a result, impacts Livvy’s stability as a ghost and wayward spirit, corrupting her and causing her to fall a little out of touch with the present, waking world, which inevitably has an impact on Ty’s state of being as it is. Ty, being the intelligent little detective he is, brings it all back to the fact that Magnus has disappeared, and decides there is no other choice but to track him down — but can’t do it alone, not with Livvy’s current state taking its toll on him. And the only person who knows about Livvy, who can help him, is Kit. Who will, as we know, agree to help.

On the flip side, naturally the TMI gang (especially Alec) are going to freak the fuck out when Magnus goes missing and do everything they can to track him down. This includes, but is not limited to, inter-dimensional travel (they’ve done it before!! They can do it again!!) Somehow, through investigating, searching and seeking (and possibly with some help from our buddies Kit and Ty) the gang’s gonna track down where Magnus has gone and jump down that rabbit hole in search of them.

As for what happens next, I honestly couldn’t tell you. I don’t have a bucket full of evidence for this theory whatsoever, I just had a thought and figured I may as well share it. Right or wrong, it’s always fun to speculate! 🫶

OMGGGGGG! IPBG has me sobbing already 😭🥹 I was losing it at ‘the trainees are Lightwood- Banes’ because Alec totally recounts their adventures like they are his own kids.

Very soft hearted for Magnus and his internal struggle of all that has happened in such a short time. So much of AWG was about Alec and Madzie and Magnus focused on trying to save them. I think the soul rejection brought up so much for Magnus and now he’s realising some of the unseen emotions lingering within him. I’m so excited to see more of Magnus pov. (i think we are going to see a lot of Bubbles +Magnus cuddle times + Alec ofc!)

I totally love how you described Alec’s way of speaking too cause it totally fits him as a person and leader. Alec thinking Magnus isn’t interested in his story but really it’s so soothing it put him into a daze. Kinda sad though that the same daze brings up horrible memories for Magnus. Are we up to the point where they can feel each others emotions through the bond? I wonder what Alec was feeling whilst Magnus was internally freaking out.

Magnus gave them nicknames! Alec calls them by their nicknames. It is shadowhunter law that they are now family!

AWG was more Alec and Madzie centered, yes. Because of the soul rejection and everything that was happening they had to take precedence both in the fic as well as in Magnus’ mind. But quite a lot happened and now Magnus has to try and make sense of everything that happened, so the TPBG will be slightly more centered around him this time around.😊

They can feel their emotions through the bond, yes! But Magnus is trying to close of most of his emotions because he’s a bit all over the place (both in the bond as well as in general) so Alec feels some random flares here and there that are mostly confusing. It doesn’t help that Alec is a bit stressed with the ceremony that is coming - his appointing ceremony - and that he feels Jace’s, his own and Magnus’ emotions. So, he’s still learning how to distinguish all of those on top of everything.

And you deserved the tiny shout-out considering the rambles helped me more than once when I was stuck with writer’s block, etc..😁💜

Shadowhunters would have been 100% better if they kept Maryse hating Magnus. Not because of the gay thing though, but because he's Magnus freaking Bane who she a, tried to kill, and b, she knows sleeps around. The last thing she wants is her poor newly out baby gay son dating this man who might break his heart.

Like the petty dinners we could have had. Just Maryse glaring Magnus out and Alec being kind of okay with it because she's not doing it out of homophobic intentions and it's kind of funny watching this 400 year old warlock be afraid of his mom. (Maybe this is pre he finds out about his parents in the circle. Like that's the one thing they agree on. Maryse because she doesn't want her son finding out about her dirty deeds and Magnus because he knows how guilty Alec will feel to know his family has such a stain on it.)

Then this hate slowly kindled into respect, and then the grandkids come and Maryse doesnt care because she has new babies to spoil.

Now why do I love them? Well, the first 3 characters on the list introduced my 14 year old self to queerness and were a big part in my understanding of who I am. Tokyo Ghoul was one of the first animes I was really into and it introduced me to manga and anime, so it's not necessarily that I only love that character, I love the whole manga a lot. Rhaenyra and Jude are just cool badass female characters, I love women who murder and aren't afraid to do everything in their power to achieve their goals.

INTRO POST YEAHHHH

Okay so this is @f4y3w00d5s writing blog, I'll occasionally post short stories (probably unrelated to my main books) and things about characters, plots, subplots etc from my main stories.

CURRENT MAIN WORKS

-Freak Show (and other books in this world. This is where Ben and Faye come from) -The Ghost Story (something I've been working on the sides. Pretty epic. I dont think it will end well. no official title or names, just ideas.) -The Horror Stories (works i started when i was younger, series of short horror stories. Some characters may be reworked to be in main stories. Faye and Ben started out as these.)

Hey! Thank you for playing with us! Could you talk about "Crazy Magnus" please? Sounds ominous.

Ooooooooooooooo, good choice!

Okay, so, let me preface this by saying that this general idea was sparked forever and a day ago by some Barry Allen fics, where he first comes out of the speedforce and he's talking like he's lost his marbles? I have a few of those I've read and I *adore* them, so freaking much. BUT, not the place to go off about those lol

So, between that, and talking to Aria a time or two, I have this general idea that I'd loooove to fully write someday.

Essentially, in a battle against Valentine, before Alec and Magnus ever meet, Magnus does some insane magic to stop Valentine and the Circle, and in the process he accesses more magic than anyone ever has. It leaves him, well, a little crazy. Only, not in a traditional sense. More, he’s trapped in this sea of magic that leaves him quite mad to other people, spouting off things that make no sense to them. But in reality, Magnus is trapped in this sea of magic that’s like looking into the past, present, and future of multiple timelines, multiple worlds, all at the same time. The things he says aren’t crazy, not really. It’s like he’s talking to people who aren’t there, in conversation that happened in the past, conversations that are going to happen in the future, or ones that happened in completely different timelines (like the world inverted one)

Magnus talks about things screaming, voices always talking, and there are rare moments where he almost seems lucid. But then he says something that no one else really understands. Ragnor understood him the best, was even able to carry on some sort of conversation with him simply because he just adapts their conversation to whatever it is Magnus is talking about at the time.

The Spiral Labyrinth keeps trying to hold him because they don't trust what Magnus might do with his power, but he *is* stronger than them and he simply breaks out, over and over again.

But Magnus doesn’t just run away. Each and every time he goes where Alec is – and it’s usually when Alec's on patrol, or when he’s hurt and alone and in need of help. Though sometimes the others are there.

It becomes a thing to see the crazy warlock show up whenever something is going to happen to Alec. The first time, they walk away and leave Magnus where he was sitting on a wall just watching them. The second time, Jace tries to talk to him and Magnus snaps something at him and then vanishes.

The fourth time, Catarina and Ragnor show up to take Magnus back, and they talk to Alec for a minute. Tell him who this is, and Alec knows the story of Magnus Bane. The whole Shadow World does. He took out Valentine and saved the whole Shadow World. Everyone thought he died.

But with what happened, for some reason they can’t seem to help him. But Catarina and Ragnor point out that, though they don't understand why, he seems to really like Alec. To find him important. Alec agrees to look out for him when he shows up, and to call them.

Only the next time, Alec doesn’t call them right away. He gets saved by Magnus, and they talk for a minute. Magnus’ words are… they’re different. They mean something, Alec can tell. He just can’t tell why.

:D that's the vague outline I have on there. Could be fun to finally sit down and write one day!

I was thinking of all the Asmodeus i know shadowhunter Asmodeus does not embody lust he is more of an embodient of Wrath (since most of the princes of hell, Leviathan (envy), Belphegor (sloth), Mammon (Greed), Lucifer (Pride), Samael (Lust - since he technically is the only prince that probably loved/loves Lilith and is willing to work together to bring distruction for her), the only time my grey Asshole only emobides lust is (hinted that him and Lilith probably had a one night stand (on many occasaions). But if you look at his son (my precious baby) Magnus Bane he is more of an emobodiment of lust.

Now on to Obey me (not connected to the firdt part but still NSFW)

SO I was with a friend and we were talking about TV shows and such, and they go on about how Asmodeus would be a pimp or exploite sinners in a way that feeds his realm)

Now this got me thinking If hell/ devildom have some Human tv channels and hell channels that contain more dark and realism stuff and MC being like what the fuck..

And Satan is like (human shows are good but the demon remakes are much better) and MC finding channels that are filled with the utmost depraved lust kinda you can imagine and being scared into their brain -

They are practically immune to the horrors of hell

Okay, so we're talking about like potential Devildom remakes of human world TV shows? And that they're just completely messed up?? Because that sounds hilarious lol.

I like the idea that they broadcast both. So if you're a demon you could potentially watch the human world G-rated version of Spongebob then flip over to the demon version and it's all fire and brimstone.

Of course if we're talking about nsfw type stuff, I don't think that'd be too much of a stretch for some of these human world shows. Or if it was really violent... didn't they make a gay show about a guy that eats people? I've seen that on the dash a lot and it looks really bloody to me. I would think something like that would feed into the gluttony sin probably.

But it's funny to imagine an MC that has no clue about any of this accidentally turning on the TV and finding horrific stuff. Well okay only if MC can handle it and isn't messed up forever after lol.

I personally would be like what the hell is this... ah yes well we are technically in hell, so I guess it's to be expected.

Personally I do okay with gore and sexy times in media, but when things get ghosty I start to freak out. Like the Sixth Sense scared the shit out of me because I was convinced I was going to start seeing dead people everywhere. Or that they were already there and I just couldn't see them which is worse. Also I was too young when I watched that so maybe that has something to do with it.

Anyway, I didn't mean to get off on a tangent here, but I like your idea of demon TV remakes.

I think I would get invested in the demon version of Days of Our Lives. They call it Nights of Our Lives lol.

Alec Happy Cat Lightwood...

If you listen close enough, you can probably hear him purr...

At this point, if you told me that he used to be one of Magnus' cats in a past life, I'd be tempted to believe you!

Great! As I'm writing this, my brain literally has to come up with the utterly insane scenario of one of Magnus' cats falling in love with him (blame it on those gorgeous cat eyes and feline body language that they can read so well!) and deciding that, in their next life, they're coming back as something more compatible!

They just don't have a choice regarding what type of (half) human-blooded creature they'll return as in the Shadow World, and so they wind up being a male Shadowhunter with no memories of their past life.

That would be such a crack fic!

And would take Alec's pure instinctive delight when he saw Magnus' cat eyes for the first time to a whole other level if some part of him still connects with his previous life on a subconscious level, at least.

More seriously, though... I have so many questions...

Like...

What was the description of that scene in the script, or the direction they gave him on this scene?

Is rubbing his head on pillows post-lovemaking like that something that Alec typically does?

If so, what was Magnus' (inner) reaction first time he saw it happen?

If not... Has he gotten so used to Magnus' cat eyes that he's now instinctively compensating for the sudden missing feline aspect of their sexy times together?

Did Magnus ever come to the conclusion that Alec Lightwood is essentially the human Shadowhunter version of a cat?

I mean...

He's got a slender, strong body with long, agile limbs.

He's a deadly and silent predator that moves gracefully in the shadows, and seems perfectly at ease in his environment.

He will hang out alone on the roof, balcony, or just outside the window to sulk and/or process things...

... and get off that roof by jumping and landing on his feet (with the help of a rune, obviously).

He doesn't like to be touched, or even leisurely spend time with other people, except by, or with, a very select few people that he deeply trusts.

And obviously, only if he's in the right mood for it.

As a result, friends and family never exactly know what to expect when approaching him...

Is he going to hiss at them, turn around, and proudly leave while pretending they and their issues don't exist?

Silently stare at them while plotting his next murder?

Or spontaneously go in for a hug and cuddles?

He likes to pretend he's doing fine on his own and will get easily annoyed if he feels like you're constantly checking on him and smothering him with attention...

... but will be the first to freak out and go on a hunt to find you if you ignore him and his requests or go suddenly missing too long.

Yeah, apparently he could do just fine without you one moment, but won't be able to live without you the next! It's a struggle!

He'll just sniff the breakfast you brought him in bed, and touch and observe the food without eating it if he's unhappy you woke him up or interrupted something he'd rather be doing...

Basically, Magnus Bane himself is a great big cat that likes cats, understands cats, knows how to gain a cat's trust (no matter their efforts to pretend they're not interested in interacting with you... while nevertheless contradicting that statement by periodically coming to scratch at your door...), and Alec Lightwood is apparently a large Shadowhunter-shaped cat.

I mean, look at him! I'm thinking either Magnus isn't paying attention because he's totally used to it (which would answer one of my questions...); or he's not noticing because he's just stuck in his identity crisis and unable to focus on the present...

... including the big cuddly kitten next to him that, BTW, looks so upset later when Magnus suddenly gets up from the bed before he has a chance to reach out for him and get a few more cuddles out of him.

Which brings us back to square one!

I've really got so many questions about this...

My head hurts. I feel like I’m in a perpetual state of numbness, and the numbness cracks only to give way to misery. In other words, here are my thoughts on 4x10. Future rin edit; this one is long, I went on a bit of a tangent, I apologize.

If Michael or Kyle weren’t in the scene, I skipped it. I legitimately don’t know anything going on with the others except who they were working with and that Tezca is indeed good now, apparently, which was a wonderful choice to make with four episodes left. Truly, way to focus on the important stuff during the rest of the season. Marvelous pacing.

Whatever, I don’t care. Like I said, I skipped their scenes. Kyle was great, Kyle was the breath of fresh air I needed. I love Michael loving Alex and wanting to go after him, I really do, but... where’s feral Michael? Where’s the restless cowboy who’s fighting tooth and nail to get his lover back? Where’s the anger, the out-of-control power surges, the frustrated crying? Where is my Michael Guerin? Where is Alex’s Michael Guerin?

I swear, we better get Alex and malex enough in these three episodes to make up for everything.

Let me just get to it, okay? These writers, with all due respect, clearly did not care one way or the other what happens with Alex in the story. There was no effort put in to integrate him into the plot while Tyler couldn’t be there. I’m not complaining that Alex isn’t there. It sucks and I miss him and he’s the reason I breathe, but I can (begrudgingly) understand that Tyler couldn’t be there because of his health problems and he comes first, so fine. But this isn’t about Tyler being absent from the episodes. The very fact that the show uses that excuse as a reason to keep him from the story proves limit-mindedness and--I’m sorry--a lack of talent and creativity.

I saw someone suggest Alex be “in the episodes” since he went missing by communicating with Michael through lights and sounds like he only did in episode 4x08. I thought that was brilliant, and it came from a fan on tumblr who probably put maybe ten seconds of thought into it. You could’ve shown Michael missing him, texting him, leaving him voicemails. I can’t believe that they have the freaking nerve to talk about malex and how much they love them when the one malex scene of Guerin leaving Alex a voicemail was freaking cut so that they could make more time for Maria and Liz worship. I can’t BELIEVE that we had feral Michael for all of two minutes, then him apologizing to Maria and hugging Liz, everything forgiven, even though she was the one that told everyone to KEEP ALEX MISSING A SECRET FROM THE ONLY MAN THAT GIVES HIM ANY COMFORT.

I kid you not, I’ve been awake since 2:30 am to watch the episode and I went to sleep, numb and disassociated, thinking that I wouldn’t have any thoughts to share. And honestly, for the episode, I really don’t. Kyle and Michael were great, the little kybel moment was adorable but I didn’t really care that much with Alex not there, I needed more feral Michael, but the lack of Alex has drained me so that I don’t think I can properly feel anything about an episode until he comes back. That said, wow.

You know, Shadowhunters had a similar storyline to this. Magnus Bane had to go to Edom to save the Shadow World, and more importantly, the love of his life, Alec, but in doing so, it means he’s stuck there and can’t get back. So what do all of the characters do? Well, Magnus has become a dear friend and means a lot to them, not just for the wisdom he’s imparted but for the help he’s given them on multiple occasions. Not to mention, Magnus also means everything to Alec and Alec means a lot to them, too. So it’s a rescue mission. They gear up and decide to go to Edom together to save Magnus.

Clary and Jace are the main characters of the show. Alec and Magnus were sidelined for most of the first season. There are episodes in season 3 where they have a scene for a little over a minute. But when push comes to shove, Magnus is their friend and they are in this together, and that episode is one of my favorites because it doesn’t just have Alec talk about how important Magnus is and maybe doing one thing to try to bring him back. It values friendship and shows the meaning of found family, alongside true love.

What does Roswell New Mexico do after they find out Alex goes missing after an unrealistic amount of time without a hint of Michael missing Alex except for when he got sick and then said that Alex should’ve been the one checking in?

Well. Liz makes a dumb decision, everything is put on halt to save her, and then they bring out this storyline of how something is wrong with Liz and how everyone needs to turn around and help her with that, completely ignoring Alex and whether or not he might be dying in this other dimension. That’s when they’re not worshipping Maria and her nonsensical abilities that really would’ve made more sense with Rosa. Again, why wasn’t Rosa the main character? I feel like she and Michael would’ve led the damn parade through that portal in search of Alex, especially considering how similar the two used to seem when they were teenagers and could’ve been great friends. But they’ve never even spoken to each other in the show, so that’s a bust, I guess.

Yeah, that’s it. I really have nothing else to say. I’m so tired, I’m so sick of this, I’m usually painfully hopeful, even when I don’t want to be, but I’ve lost hope in this show. Believe me, for me, that’s near impossible. But I just want to see Alex. I’m so sick of the writers so eager to show how tolerant they are by forcing Maria down our throats in a role she doesn’t deserve and doesn’t fit, by refusing to let Michael get properly angry and feral for more than thirty seconds because it’s somehow toxic masculinity to fight for the love of your life, and by patting themselves on the back for their supposed work with malex that really shows their complete lack of thought, care, or attention to the couple that most people watch for. All the while, ignoring the queer guy, doing two woc injustice by having them be such selfish, self-involved, greedy, sometimes stupid, horrible people that never get called out for their flaws, and worrying more about how woke they’ll look in every episode instead of worrying about the actual story.

Merlin never needed to talk about Gwen’s skin color or how amazing her accomplishments were because she was a woman. She never had powers, never owned a business, and the only time she wielded a sword was when she was protecting her friend, and Maria DeLuca, for all the screen time, credit, and newfound abilities she gets, doesn’t hold a freaking candle next to my queen.

Oh. And as the biggest Harry Potter fan and a Marvel fan; a) don’t have Maria, of all people, reference my favorite work, and b) you wish you had anything on Dr. Strange. Do not flatter yourself, lady.

Okay. Now I’m done.
