Who Are The Iterators? What's The Plot?

SUMMARY OF WHAT HAS HAPPENED SO FAR Act 0:

Saint escapes from Nebula's structure and moves toward Aqua's

Seas creates a group of people through questionable means trying to capture Saint for themselves

Ghosts and Shrike get pulled into the rebel group against their will, Ghosts more than Shrike

The seniors (Owls, Epithet, Raven, Nebula) fully assemble themselves as Epithet becomes publicly "alive" again and Nebula requests help so they can manage Saint, gaining support from the other 3

Epithet has visions of a slug cat ascending him, his fear beginning to consume him

Milky way become suspicious of each other as some members join the rebels anonymously

early relationships are established, some are yet to be revealed

ACT 1:

Epithet's visions of his demise get worse, and he steps back from his role, focusing on saving himself and others, slowly closing himself off from everyone after some particularly nasty nightmares

Saint is prevented from reaching Aqua and travels south on a Leviathan

a side group of the rebels is formed, focusing more on finding out what is going on instead of capturing Saint. They mainly question their seniors, but also attempt to question Ghosts

Seas and Storms steal a pearl from Nebula, but they don't know how to decode it so they send it to Ghosts

Ghosts requests excessive resources from Comets to fuel himself and Seas, which is allowed but Ghosts is also reprimanded for not stopping Seas' activities

Seas realises that Ghosts is hoarding the majority of the resources for himself, and tries to get Comets to stop fuelling him, and fails to do so.

Shadows and Moment try to ask Future to stay out of the situation, but she does not

Lumi finds out about Epithet's situation and promises to stay with him until it's time

Saint reaches Epithet and ascends him, causing ripples throughout all of the groups.

ACT 2 (so far):

Acting seniors take over as all leave to process Epithet's ascension. They do not work as well as they could, Shrike and Shadows having very different opinions on how to be a "good senior"

Epithet finds himself as an Echo and starts trying to contact his family again

Nebula creates another slugcat capable of ascension, Tempest, and sends them out to follow Saint's trail

Ghosts' fear and paranoia spike as he breaks under the pressure of all the demands made of him, as well as his terror of Shrike being ascended, and sets out to solve the issue himself, breaking the blacklist that prevents him from using void fluid weapons but also doing large damage to his own puppet in the process

i keep forgetting to post my responses to wol/oc questions over here OTL so here's a little hoard of elf facts

first drawing and most recent!

rune was very briefly a pink witch before going tits out cowboy at an alarmingly speed (shit actually i need to draw more cowboy)

i will always find it funny how fast i also went from drawing like steven universe and cute magical girls to "i will now only draw my scrunkly as shit elf. they are literally the only thing i want to draw" and i've learned so much from that lol

i think it was literally like a month between cute witch and fantasia thoughts fffkfflff (that art is from like june, so here's a more recent one cause i love comparisons :D )

for those with wols/ocs that have names that don't follow their race's naming conventions: why did you choose that name?

rune is an alias they chose to avoid being tracked after leaving sharlayan, only to later find out no one had enough interest in their research to warrant finding them :| but they liked it so it stuck

they do have a proper elezen name but i keep changing it cause i'm indecisive, but also they'd only use rune around most people anyways so it's fine fffff someone says they're good at inscribing runes one time and they make it their whole thing

ooc reason is cause i name all my game characters some variant of rune aren after my first skyrim character so i don't spend 6 hours on the character create screen and i didn't think i'd like playing enough to worry about a lore compliant name OTL

I had rune around 30, then I mathed a bunch figuring out how long it took jannequinard and leveva to learn astromancy, and serendipity goldsmithing, how old they'd be at the sharlayan exodus, and how long it'd take to become an archon...to end up at 30 again OTL

Lumi is 32 and had a similar thing but figuring out how old she'd have to be to have a red mage stone, and training in a bunch of fields. I've been thinking she should be a little older though...

Other than you wol(oc)’s current hair color, what color would they dye it?

rune naturally has greyish brown hair, they get the top bleached, this is an excuse for me to show them with their hair grown out lol

I've tried them with yellow before which worked surprisingly well, they'd try any colour as long as it keeps the two-tone

what does your wol/oc think about archon loaf? are they from sharlayan? was 5.3 the first time they tried it?

rune is sharlyan. unfortunately. they love it. even after leaving they still eat it when they wanna work instead of make real food. eating a proper meal will make them sob with how nice it tastes, then later they're back to eating the stupid loaf again.

their mum grew up near gridania and makes a somewhat nicer version without the fish. it still has most of the uh- qualities of a traditional archon loaf though

Do you think the Lumi would do well with a Bossmouse and Rice pair from them?

I asked them and they said this.

They suggested a rescue bitty pair, but that was mainly to let them be okay with loud noises. They explore about what the two might need in the second link.

I certainly agree with the shopowner's opinion, it's a bit uncertain considering the differing personalities, but I believe that there may be a Lumi that can handle a Bouse and Rice!

Lumi bitties can vary in personality quite a bit from "Blueberry" to "Swap", though you'll most commonly find Lumis more in the middle of those two!

Lumis are very respectful of boundaries once they are set, so there is no concern there, however they do have their own little hoards and may not like if the other bitties try to take from them! They will defend their hoards. However! If a friendship is struck up between them, a Lumi may consider trying to find trinkets and such they think their companions may enjoy!

Slow introduction would be quite necessary, and it may be a small concern of the Lumi being a bit too extroverted for any Boss or Red bitty types... but I don't think it's impossible!

The Extended Family of the Future

Discordia and Harmonia @lyranova's oc. Ida, Heinrich, and Johan are @marune2's ocs.

..........

In the future, Nacht and Josele's little hoard of children have the joy of having a doting grandfather in Heinrich and two wonderful aunts in Ida and Discordia. (Okay Discordia is technically their first cousin once removed but that's a mouthful.) It's a weird extended family of theirs but the Faust kids love it.

Here's some thoughts about it.

The children get to spend two weeks in Lumi with Discordia and Harmonia (and Moros too I suppose/lh) every year. It was actually Nacht's idea to give the children a chance to travel and see their relatives. It also gives Nacht and Josele some free time (you can guess for what).

Ida doesn’t really change her behavior around the kids. She swears in front of them. But she does avoids touching them unless necessary.

Sterling likes Heinrich the most because he can teach her about having two attributes.

Merel likes to cuddle with Ida. Merel’s body runs cold and Ida's body is so warm, so their extreme body temperatures cancel out.

Since Johan is on the adventurous side, Dawn and Vivian would enjoy spending time with him. Gimodelo would worriedly follow after them (keeping an especially close eye on Dawn).

All the children use the Bremen devils and Ida's Grimm creations to play hide and seek.

Dusk gets on edge around his relatives when their more... devilish sides show.

Sirius would become interested in medicine and mental health through Heinrich and his healing work. Heinrich may be from thousands years back but he still manages to help Sirius learn.

Heinrich helps raise Nacht and Josele’s kids while he also raises Johan.

Johan plays with the other kids, chasing them or flying them around. He might try to bite them when annoyed though.

Sterling has offered to teach Harmonia tarot card reading. It's a little funny since she's never made the same offer to her own siblings (she likes them relying on her for something).

Braiding trains for the kids. So many of them have long hair.

Vivian doesn't let most people touch her without asking. Her parents and siblings don't have the ask. Her relatives don't need to ask audibly but instead can hold out their hand to which Vivian takes it if she accepts the offer of physical affection.

Discordia becomes Sirius’ favorite relative as he grows up because she reminds him of sweet but sharp-witted Clara.

Sterling once offered to tie ribbons to Johan's horns. She was turned down but she insists that he would've looked cute.

Dusk's favorite relative is Harmonia because she's much calmer compared to the others and she helps him relax.

I imagine Merel and Ida are very careful about preventing Ida from falling victim to Merel's Nightmare Magic. Ida doesn't want to emotionally scar her niece with the fears and darkness that haunt her.

Harmonia asked if Sterling was also a princess because of the circlet implanted in Sterling’s forehead.

With Heinrich's knowledge of medicine and ancient magic plus Discordia funding the work, they made a pendant that would glow in time with Vivian's heartbeat so it could be monitored more easily.

Discordia has gotten cute clothes for the kids on a few occasions.

Ida was probably the one who told the kids about the murder den where Morgen died. Sterling, Dawn, and Sirius get a kick out of pointing out the door that leads to the basement when giving their friends house tours.

Sterling had a lot of questions when Ida introduced her to Michael. Like why he was such an ugly devil (not knowing he was actually an angel).

As a little kid, Dawn liked to grab the clothes of the relatives and jump over and over while telling them about something she was excited about.

Ida is blamed for inspiring Sirius' love of coffee. She even calls him "Coffee Bean" sometimes because of the color of his eyes.

Harmonia and Sterling once spent a day counting how many times they saw their parents kiss. Only for it to end in a tie of zero. Not unexpected for the Helheims but the Fausts, that's weird.

The girls definitely gossip about love lives. They only feel comfortable doing it around each other.

An embarrassing memory for the kids that has been burned into the minds of the adults is the time the kids were having a sleep over. The kids ended up sleeping in a giant cuddle pile with Sterling buried underneath everyone. Josele is especially fond of the fact that Johan's wings had been draped over Vivian like a blanket.

Dawn and Dusk would've learned how to make little familiars from their attributes from Ida and her Grimm.

The kids have seen an argument between their father and their aunts. They have a vow never to fight each other in a similar way.

By the time she was 10, Vivian had gotten lost in Lumi Castle a total of 43 times. Her becoming a traveler when she grows up causes some worry solely based on this fact.

Dawn sometimes asks Ida and Discordia if she’s like Uncle Morgen/would make him proud.

When Dusk was practicing shadow teleportation in Lumi Castle, he teleported under Harmonia's bed and bumped his head, scaring her into thinking she was being haunted.

It's embarrassing for her but Merel fainted when she was introduced to Heinrich's Illness and Deformation Magic. The same thing happened when she saw Discordia's Blood Magic for the first time.

The kids once put on a musical performance for Harmonia to celebrate her birthday. Sterling sang and played the harp. Dawn played guitar. Dusk was on piano. Sirius played the violin. Merel was on the cello. And Vivian joined Sterling in singing.

Sterling almost started calling Heinrich "Grandpa Heinny" before being told how embarrassing it'd be for him and she apologized for it afterwards.

Ida and Nacht have tried to trick the kids by dressing as each other but Sterling and the others know their father too well to fall for it.

Because the negative mana influence on Dawn causes her to not bleed, she has a fascination with Discordia's Blood Magic.

A conversation between Dawn and Discordia.

Dawn: (touches one of Discordia’s spells) Auntie, is there… a way to make me normal? Discordia: What do you mean? Dawn: Maybe your magic can fix me! Discordia: Maybe. If there was anything that needed fixing. But you’re lovely the way you are. Dawn: But-! Discordia: Have your mother and father ever said you needed to be fixed? Dawn: N-no… Discordia: Have your brothers or sisters? Dawn: No. But Vivian can’t talk. Discordia: Have any of your real friends called you a freak? Dawn: No. Discordia: Then we’re all in agreement. You, Dawn, are perfectly fine the way you are. Dawn: Hmm… Discordia: But. If the kids at your school want to call you a freak for not bleeding. (Creates a little necklace from her magic) Break it if you ever get hurt in a way that would make you bleed. It’ll gush blood everywhere and then all the kids will see it’s much better if you don’t bleed out! Dawn: Auntie, that’s gross!

some of my absolute fave tartali/zhongchi fanarts are just childe and zhongli being either A) obvious or B) in the midst of PDA and the traveler either 1. running into them or 2. standing there rolling their eyes like are you fucking serious right now?

i like to imagine a xiao-lumi/ther and tartali adventuring party would be everyone fighting off a hoard of monsters meanwhile as soon as either zhongli or childe expertly obliterates someone they're heart-eyeing each other and then immediately jumping into each other's arms to make out while the other two finish off the rest and then proceed to shout at them "IS THIS REALLY THE TIME?!?" and/or "AGAIN?!?"
