Chronic illness is so discouraging…every time I have something important going on I get sick.
I wish I had a body that was able to keep up with me.

What will distress me more in the next twelve hrs? My LSAT score or tonight’s episode of Ahsoka? We shall see.
(I am live reacting in the comments of this post, ignore)

Not really aesthetic, but it sure is realistic.
I honestly adore this part of the semester. The calm right before the storm that is finals week. I have about 4 weeks until this semester is over and I'm sad but also excited for this summer. I haven't secured an internship for my fellowship yet, but I have a feeling something good is about to happen!
I have two (maybe three) research conferences coming up, an internship to secure, 3 final papers to write, and LSAT studying to do but I'm thriving!

studying for the lsat (for free)
i know lsat prep courses are so expensive and i cannot pay for that so i thought i’d share what i’ve been doing
insight lsat on youtube has a playlist with a free prep course, in which they go over each section of the lsat/each type of question you’ll encounter. it’s very helpful and i recommend pausing the video and trying to answer yourself whenever the instructor recommends it!
after going through question types, he provides a list of “homework questions” — the questions add up to essentially being 2 full sections from a few different practice tests, so at the moment i’m doing the questions one recommended practice test at a time (making it 2 full sections each time i practice)
i compile answers to these practice questions in a google doc, where i correct myself and make notes on what went wrong, as well as label what types of questions i missed so i can see any patterns
i use a notion spreadsheet to track how much time per day i study, as well as scores and/or percent accuracy for my actual practice (when doing the homework questions/2 sections instead of a full test, i calculate accuracy since i do not have an actual score)
after working through the lsat insight course and doing all recommended practice, my next step will be to do full timed sections (when i do homework practice it is untimed)
then, i will take a full timed test, so that i have a new diagnostic score and i can plan out the next phase of studying. i will once again track what types of questions i’m missing so i can implement more targeted practice.
more notes:
- i get my practice tests of pdf coffee
- i check answers using manhattan prep (it’s a forum so explanations are detailed and written by real people)
i hope this was at all helpful, and if anyone has any questions or recommendations let me know! :)

oh! I forgot to share but I got a 163 on my lsat! Not the score I was hoping for, but still decent enough to apply to my favorite pick. I’m retaking it in two weeks to see if I can squeeze a few more points — cross your fingers for me 🤞🏼

Anyone else have pets that become needy when you study?
A part of me just wants to quit work and focus on this exam full-time. Three more weeks and 10 points short of goal score 😭

there’s been radio silence from me since graduating this past june and I thought I’d give a bit of an explanation.
I didn’t go to law school. I didn’t get in anywhere. I take pride in my academic performance and when I failed to get in anywhere, I let the disappointment get to me.
instead of announcing this ‘failure’ on this blog, I kept quiet, began working full-time for a firm in my town, and started studying to retake the LSAT.
now, it’s test day!! I feel leagues better about this test than I did my August 2021 exam and am so excited to reapply to all the schools I went for last cycle.
good luck to everyone testing this weekend! you’ve worked so hard for it and all that’s left to do is sit down and DO IT!
sending all the love, townes

hello all <3 it’s been a while… updates:
i got into college! and passed my first year (pretty well!) i am so so happy. my journey is not what i expected or hoped or imagined - it is so much better. i thank my lucky stars.
i’m an english major! woOaooah. lots of thoughts.
i am currently about halfway through my biggest internship yet, living out the corporate girly dream in london.
i’ve started learning italian! and once the new uni year starts i will be taking it for credit :)
and, the biggest one yet: i have decided to take the LSAT. law really interests me and although i still have to decide whether to take it in the US or the UK, studying for the LSAT is beneficial to my prep for both. i am entering my second year of a three-year degree which means that if all goes well, one year from now i will have taken it. which meaaans (drum roll please) that i’m back on studyblr, baby!
i will be taking my first khanacademy lsat diagnostic this friday (a week after i had planned to but sometimes life gets in the way) and i have told myself that i must take it in order to deserve a movie night for red, white, and royal blue. yes i do kin alex claremont-diaz, why do you ask?
thereforeeee… starting today, i will once again attempt to 45 days of productivity challenge! i hope to see u all here every day. i’m excited to be back.
xoxo,
c :)

2024 Reading List 📚
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here is my reading list for 2024 and all the books I plan to get to that are not for school. Sorry for how non aesthetic the pictures look.
Dis United Nations by Peter Zeihan.
Rules for Radicals by Saul Alinsky.
How Democracies Die by Steven Levitsky and Daniel Ziblatt.
The Rise of ISIS by Joby Warrick.
Twilight of Democracy by Anne Applebaum.
Soft Power by Joesph S Nye Jr (eBook).
I'd like to try to read more novels this year, but I don't currently have any in mind right now. However, I used to be really into Ernest Hemingway and Jane Austen, so maybe I will reread some favorites of mine.
These are also the books I plan to use for the LSAT.

I'm also trying to expand my vocabulary with GRE prep. Moreover, I also want to start doing word puzzles and sudoku regularly.

Mood Board | Light Academia
"I'll have a life after I graduate from Harvard"
"Don't fear failure. Fear being in the exact same place next year as you are today"
"Everything you do now is for your future"
Feeling super unmotivated to study so I made a mood board to inspire me instead of sitting around and being sad. I'm just reminding myself that the LSAT is a skills test, which means that I can't cram in studying or wait until the last minute.
I'm also working on not comparing myself to anyone. I've been super down about my looks, my intelligence, and my capabilities lately. I'm reminding myself that the only competition I have is myself. It's 'me versus me' and as long as I do something every day to better myself then I'm winning in life.
I'm trying to focus on everything that I like about myself. I'm a bad bitch. I got my B.S. at 20, I'll get my M.A. at 21, and if everything goes as planned I'll have my J.D. degree at 24. I have straight A's. I have a padded resume. I'm very well read. I have a job interview on Monday. Most importantly, I have all the tools needed to crush the LSAT.

September 26. 2022:
Finally getting back into studying. The past week was rough. After scoring low on a practice test I had crippling anxiety and doubts and it took a whole week to snap back into reality. What I tried to do instead was focus on other application material i.e. personal statement. I'm happy to say I think it's 90% ready.
Yes I also changed my desk setup and got an iMac. It's still WIP.
