THIS IS A WIP (the shading omg I tremble) but I’m blaming @pianokantzart for getting me into the Mario fam vibe. Their amazing analyses plus wonderful fics (YES I READ THEM SHUSH) made my head drift into ‘what if’s’ scenarios and pls. Just. Papa Mario coming back from work tired, only to find out Mamma hasn’t come back from her work yet (coming from an immigrant family, everyone works, there’s no ‘house wife’ in an immigrant family), and finds the twins crying so he does his best to calm them down (he’s not very good at it) and finally after reading ten billion stories they fall asleep and he sits down with them in his arms (because he’s afraid to wake up plus, they are so cute!!!!) and ends up falling asleep on the couch, to be found later by his wife (who totally does not take a picture as quickly as she can).

I don’t know exactly what it was but my first thought seein #the white void was she was appearing to MK in his mindscape to talk to him. so I built on that #I wanted to give him a more ‘Smokey’ look as a shadow just based on how he manipulates them in the show like in shadow play. I've been thinking of a little 'what if' thing where, yes, Desmond looks like his male ancestors, but he has the facial expression of his female ones down pat.

Altair is over working himself when he hears a twin clearing of throats, and he looks up to see both Maria and Desmond with the same exact look of 'I'm not mad, just disappointed' and he begrudgingly puts everything away under their watchful eyes.

Ezio does something stupid and risky, and he has to do a double take when the look on Desmond's face is a carbon copy of Maria's patented 'are you fucking serious, you idiot?' look she would give Ezio and Federico whenever they would get in trouble.

Connor does something to make Desmond smile, and his breath gets caught because that little mouth twitch, the scrunching of his nose, the gleam in his eyes, those are all his mother and just seeing that ghost of her breaks his heart just a little bit so he looks away.

Just Desmond being just as much of a descendant to his other ancestors.
