Alhaitham & the Ibis King
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Always wondered why he dresses like this birb, especially because the statue sits at the top of Deshret’s mausoleum alongside the jackal that has close ties to Cyno
Tumblr media
The jackal is the symbol of Hermanubis, one of the seven sages of king Deshret and leader of the priest class Kasala belonged to.
There isn’t much actual lore about the sages other than the questionable book The Lay of Al-Ahmad and the fictionalized setting of King of Invokations from Dialogues of the Desert Sages weapon description. What we know for sure about Hermanubis is he established himself in Tulaytullah at some point alongside the Tighnarians and of course that Cyno possesses power related to him.
The Lay of Al-Ahmar describes the Ibis King (who tried to persuade Deshret before his falling but was turned down) as the scribe of scribes, while Dialogue of the Desert Sages portrays him bickering with the Crocodile King.
Tumblr media
Dialogues of the Desert Sages describes two sages that had not featured in other lore before:
Saint Bennu: the king’s soul
Saint Shesepankh: a lioness and the king’s will
Bennu is an ancient Egyptian deity in the form of a heron, which outsiders tell Candace her shield has been blessed by
Tumblr media
While “shesepankh” is another name for the sphynx, a lion with the head of a man in Egypt and a winged lion with the head of a woman in Greek myth, but the novel specifies it’s a lioness like Dehya
Tumblr media
So we have so far among the seven sages of Deshret:
Hermanubis with jackal imagery and a direct connection to Cyno
Ibis King who is the scribe of all scribes and a bird statue with similar motifs as Alhaitham’s
Saint Bennu whose symbol Candace wears
Saint Shesepankh whose imagery is like that of Dehya
The remaining sages are the Goat King (minister of all minister and allegedly right hand of Deshret), the Crocodile King (commander of all commanders), and Apep (who didn’t count themselves among the sages)
So either it’s a coincidence or they might drop a goat and a crocodile character in the future lol although maybe Nilou could count for the goat imagery because of GoF’a horns?
I don’t think this means anything in terms of lore (reincarnation theory has long been dead) but thematically it could stand for something (desert gang has a role in fixing Deshret’s mess after all) also the two statues up there in Deshret’s mausoleum are gay as hell

Fuck it,
A non-comprehensive- and better- list of names containing the root word Leo that are better than what the wiki says for Leo Valdez. Because Leonidas is stupid. (no offense[full offense]) (my credentials: i have over 56 percy jackson/heroes of olympus wips and am chronically allergic to using the same name for leo more than a few times. plus leo is my oc)
-Leonidas. The og, the one that everyone seems to think is the canon name. If it was, why didn't Hera or a monster or Gaea never call him it? Anyway, the first Leonidas was a king of Sparta and claimed to be related to Hercules. The modern Leonidas is a chocolate brand.
-Leoni. Just means lioness. It's a female name (a few on this list are) but it still gets the job done of being a longer Leo name but still unique.
-Leocadius. Bright, shining. If you're looking for something vaguely greek-y, this is usually what I go for ngl. Sounds cooler than Leonidas anyway.
-Galileo. Famous inventor/astronomer. Also the only name on this list that doesn't start with Leo, but instead has the name at the end. Does this ruin the lion motif? Maybe! Do I care? No!
-Leora. Compassion, light. Also a more female leaning name, but look me in the eyes and tell me you won't write trans Leo with him just making his birth name more masc, you won't. Or transfemme Leo lengthening her name to Leora.
-León. Meaning lion. Spanish/French/Italian origins. There's a guy on TikTok that calls Leo León exclusively instead of Leonidas. I've had him blocked for months cause I don't like his content but he did have a valid point not calling Leo Leonidas.
-Leota. 'Of the people.' German roots and origins. (I'm actually using this for an au rn where Leo's an oracle/seer lol. Cause, cause... get it? Nevermind.)
-Leonardo. Another famous inventor/astronomer. Need I say more? Also don't tell me Esperanza wouldn't name her baby after an inventor.
-Leonora. Another name meaning light/brightness. You'll notice that Leo can either mean lion/lioness or light. Which I think is fitting for someone who burns so brightly as Leo Valdez.

The Horned Serpent
So before I get started on this one, I have a couple of things to get out of the way. First, I will be using she/her pronouns for the Horned Serpent; this is just because UPG and because I'm used to it. I know someone else who venerates/worships the Horned Serpent, uses they/them pronouns for them, and considers them to be beyond gender / present as whatever gender they feel like. Second, I will be focusing on my interpretation of her on the Gundestrup Cauldron, in part because there's really not a lot of literature on her, even when you include works that specifically analyze Cernunnos' depictions. Third (and related), I will be using the National Museum of Denmark's estimate as to when/where the Gundestrup Cauldron was made, which is roughly in the Danubian or Wallachian Plain(s) around 150 BCE to 1 CE (link).
So first a little historical & cultural context. This area, as far as culture groups, would have been a heck of a melting pot, between the Dacians and Thracians that already lived there, the Scythians coming in and also living near by, the Gauls that moved in around the 300s-200s, the Greeks who came up and started establishing colonies along the Black Sea in the 300s, and the Romans, encroaching on everyone's business around the time the Cauldron was built. A pretty solid primer on the history of the region is A Companion to Ancient Thrace, published by Wiley Blackwell.
So I'm gonna try to make sense but it might be a little disorganized going forward. Anyway, onto the actual thoughts & stuff. So anyone who's taken even a passing glance at Cernunnos is well aware of the Horned Serpent, since she is present in basically every ancient art you can find with him. On the Gundestrup Cauldron, she appears three times, all on the interior panels. One is at the Hero's heel, who's holding the wheel; a second is at the end of a line of heroic riders, which seems to be a Thracian horseman motif; and of course the famous Cernunnos panel. In Thracian Tales of the Gundestrup Cauldron, published by Najade Press, Jan Best presents an interpretation of the interior panels as a story, and assumes that Cernunnos is singing in his famous panel, specifically about the secrets of immortality, a concept which was very popular at the time. I agree with this and I also assume that the depiction of Taranis / the wheel god is that he is also singing, and if he is singing then the lions and griffins - both predators associated with kingship (griffins were protectors of the pharaoh, and also decorated certain tombs out in ancient Persia), then the action of passing off the Wheel must have symbolic meaning, such as being handed the Wheel of Heaven.
The Gundestrup Cauldron's exterior also has very clear influence from the Scythians, you can almost 1:1 map the gods based on Herodotus's retelling of the Pontic stories. I believe there are also thematic parallels going on here on the Wheel God panel, featuring a new god/king being given the symbol of his domain. Wikipedia actually has some relatively thorough articles on Scythian religion as well as the genealogical myth specifically, which is the myth that I personally associate with the wheel-giving panel. As well, the animals in this panel don't appear to be particularly concerned with attacking anyone - if anything, the griffins and lionesses are slightly tilted from one to the next, which makes me think it's more likely that they are dancing, especially if the human/divine subjects are singing, especially if the human with the helmet is receiving a high honor, potentially his rank amongst the gods. In this panel, she is just at the hero's feet, not really joining the parade if the animals, but clearly not ready to attack either, but her attention does seem to be drawn towards the hero.
The final panel she is on is the panel featuring the nine soldiers and the heroized dead, represented by the "Thracian horseman" motif. After Alexander the Great and his penchant for having statues of himself be on horseback, it became popular for wealthy men and nobles to depict themselves riding horseback to a goddess or sacred tree (unfortunately my best source discussing this in English is also not great and he comes up with some..... questionable theories), but the popularity seems to have blown up to the point where even deities such as Zeus were depicted on horseback in a similar manner. There are also mentions in a few other sources that the Thracians believed in the ability for people to essentially become immortal after death. Unfortunately, I'm having trouble sorting out my notes and this essay has been nagging me for weeks now.
Anyway, I interpret this panel as what is expected to happen to us after we die - the "ordinary", so to speak, are lead to a deity, likely to be reincarnated (this is honestly just a guess on my part largely due to the popularity of that in Greece for ever, and Grecian influence was in full swing by the time the Cauldron was made), meanwhile the "extraordinary" are lead by the Horned Serpent.
This is where I tie all three together to my upg/theology: The Horned Serpent is a friend and ally to Cernunnos. He teaches the secrets of life after death to those who will listen. The Horned Serpent is by his side during his teaching, and when we die, if we have proven ourselves worthy during life, she guides us through the trials of the afterlife. If we succeed in these trials, we are awarded with apotheosis - becoming a god or godlike - and she stands by our side as we earn this prize.

The Malevolent Sheep
Embroidered Livestock Who Hate Everyone, But Me Most of All For Bringing Them Into This World
By Doña Ashildr inn Harfagri, 2023
Presented at Castellan
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is not to document a perfect and period reproduction, but to document my thought process and learning process as I attempt to add to an impression of a 14th century English peasant designed for the casual eye.
I play an English shepherdess in 1360 in the fictional town of Avalon for the Medieval Fair of Norman. Due to the timing of this event, weather can be unpredictable, and occasionally very cold and wet. I am in possession of a wool hood from Hobbitronics featuring the crossed trumpets badge of heralds. While this is a delightful hood and definitely one of my warmest pieces, the costuming director and myself have determined the crossed trumpets are not appropriate for the character of Margery Arkewright and more importantly, do not add to the air of perceived authenticity for the visiting patrons. An important note is that certain concessions of historicity are made in order to create a more coherent and easily understandable experience for the patrons of the fair. For example, we restrict all uses of true (not rusty) red to the King and his immediate family to add visual cohesion and allow patrons to more easily identify King Edward III, Queen Philippa, their children, and their children’s spouses.
With that in mind, I began to research decorative motifs and patterns appropriate to the time. Two documents referenced early on were The Luttrell Psalter (approx 1320-1340) and the
Belleville Breviary, a prayer book owned by Captain Jeanne de Clisson, Lioness of Brittany. The latter was particularly intriguing as an inspiration, as the Captain is portrayed as a cast member though she had died in 1359. However, both of these resources are ink on parchment, rather than decoration on fabric. Lady Asa in Blindi pointed out that though aesthetics may be similar, motifs likely differ.
Thus, the Bayeux Tapestry was chosen for inspiration. Though the date of the Tapestry’s completion is murky with the earliest written reference to it dating to a 1476 inventory of the Bayeux Cathedral, it was likely completed in the 11th century, three centuries prior to the date of the Norman Medieval Fair. However, the popularity of the Bayeux Tapestry in online meme culture with an apparent peak around 2018 (Know Your Meme) in conjunction with the popularity of “bardcore” remixes of popular modern songs starting around 2020 with album art featuring images from the Bayeux Tapestry is hoped to have made the imagery of the tapestry more familiar to the average person. For this reason, even though the tapestry predates the target period by approximately three centuries, the design was based on that of the tapestry.
The sheep were designed to mimic the style of animals portrayed in the Bayeux Tapestry and other contemporary pieces, particularly with the near-heraldic postures in what should otherwise be normal scenes.
Below the sheep is a straight line and added grass hillocks inspired by Scene 51, as seen below. Above the sheep is another decorative strip, with a straight line in the same color again, above which there are two pairs of diagonal bars leaning towards each other as seen in Scene 35 (also below) of the tapestry. On either side of these diagonal bars are the 10 point mullets of Ansteorra and between them are two bendwise, stylized shepherds crooks leaning towards each other. Though there is no evidence in the tapestry of either mullets of 5 lesser and 5 greater points or shepherds crooks, they were selected for recognizability and for keeping in theme. Margery Arkewright is recognizable as “The Sheep Lady” of the Fair, so the shepherds crooks were chosen.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The sheep have been lovingly nicknamed “Bonald the Devourer” (left) and “John Wick” (right) through the course of the design.
Materials
Approx 11”x9” dark brown linen, pre washed
J&P Coats cotton embroidery floss, various colors
Chalk Pencil
Concessions of authenticity in materials are made due to supply availability and cost restrictions. I frankly do not have the money to make and dye embroidery floss, yarn, or linen fabric for an experimental piece I expect to see a lot of wear. The actual Bayeux Tapestry is embroidered onto a base fabric of a tabby-woven linen that appears to be undyed, and is embroidered with wool yarn dyed in various colors. In my Bayeux Tapestry themed patch for this hood, I used a commercially dyed brown linen in a tabby weave, and performed the embroidery with embroidery floss also in various commercially dyed colors.
Methods
First the design was sketched out on scratch paper. The fabric then selected was a scrap of dark brown linen. This was chosen because in part earth tones read to the casual audience as “medieval,” “rustic,” and “peasant,” and because in the target decade green and brown were taking off as the most fashionable colors a person could wear. Rather than using modern pattern transfer methods, the design was transferred to the fabric by gridding, using a piece of string as the straight edge and measure. The sheep are outlined in stem stitch as are most of the figures in the tapestry, though they are embroidered in black for visibility on the dark brown fabric.
Then the laid stitch found throughout the tapestry was first tested on the head of Bonald (left sheep) before being applied to the rest of the body. The laid stitch consists of first setting down satin stitch across an area, then applying slightly more spaced out stitches covering the full length of the area perpendicular to the satin stitches, which are then tacked down as seen below. After first application, I compared again to the laid work of the tapestry and added several more columns to better reflect the density seen in the Bayeux Tapestry. The same direction was maintained for the satin stitch across almost the entire body of this sheep aside from the tail, belly tufts, and ears. On the next sheep I experimented with a little more directionality and texture which is also found in the tapestry, which prevented me from having to make a single satin stitch cover quite as much area. Upon trying both methods, I can see the appeal of the variety of directions reducing the overall length of any one satin stitch, which can become unwieldy and tangle or pull the piece taut.
Tumblr media
On the horns of each sheep, I experimented using surface couching, which was used in the 14th century. I chose to do this because at first pass, surface couching and laid work appear very similar, and at least to have similar results. At this time, I had finished the first sheep and not started the body on the second, so I was dissatisfied with the density of stitches in the white body of the sheep and was investigating new ways to increase my coverage. Upon finishing the horns, I determined that surface couching produces a very different overall effect to laid work, with denser stitches, but a much less economical use of thread.
After the horns and bodies were done, I added detail to the sheep in stem stitch to better define the fluffy wool. The folds in the fabric on several figures in the tapestry were done in what appears to be stem stitch and act as break points in many cases for the direction of the laid work. Due to the clarity of the folds and details, I had assumed they were applied after the fill color, but after having finished my piece I believe the internal details were applied prior to the fill color.
Following the completion of the sheep, I began embroidering the borders of the top section, the bottom line, and the borders of the diagonals in a soft orange color that reminded me of madder-dyed wool. This also seemed a close match to the color used on said borders in various sections of the tapestry. It was when I started working on the diagonals that I realized I was not, in fact, sewing a stem stitch as I’d thought, but sewing a split stitch. This realization explained several discrepancies I’d noticed in the visual texture of my linework and the linework in the tapestry. The diagonals are sewn in a stem stitch.
The next stage I sewed was the Ansteorran stars, with much wailing and gnashing of teeth. As my chalk lines kept rubbing off before I could get to the stars, I free handed the stars themselves. The first attempt to outline then fill the star like the sheep went sideways as the star did not come out with 5 even points. I eventually settled on sewing the 5 greater points with laid work and the 5 lesser points with satin stitch.
What would I change?
If I were to do this again, I would seek out a more densely woven linen and use either wool yarn as was used in the tapestry itself or the full 6 strands of my embroidery floss for visual density. I believe the fullness and volume of wool yarn will better mimic the appearance of the period piece. I would add more internal detail to break up the longer sections of satin stitch, and I would lay down the detail before adding the fill color. This seems to be the method used in the tapestry, shown in the detail from Scene 51 below.
Tumblr media
In the transition from the neck to the spaces of the neck between sections of mane, and in the crook of the horse’s shoulder, the direction and angles of the laid work change. This seems to indicate that the internal detail (horse’s shoulder) was applied before the fill color, and that the particular direction of the laid work can be broken up to better fill a space.
Overall, I believe this project was a success. The goal was not perfect periodicity or reproduction, but to better make a useful piece of garb fit the ambiance designed for the casual (non-medievalist) patron. The patch covers the obtrusively modern machine embroidery and in doing so, helps create the Magic and the Dream for those visiting the Medieval Fair of Norman. I learned a new stitch that I have gone on to use in other hand embroidery projects for the security and economy of materials. I made several mistakes that gave me a better firsthand understanding of this historical piece and have improved and expanded my embroidery skills.

Eve Concept
In my rewrite/AU/whatever Eve ran away to the mortal realm after one too many put downs from the angels. She changes her name to "Evelyn Lambert" and takes up work in carpentry and repairs.
Avaline calls the business to fix a leaky faucet, Eve is sent and while working she notices that Flora bears a striking resemblance to her. She doesn't think much of it, later on Avaline goes to the shop to pick up an order, the two have small talk and find they have something in common.
Later on Eve discovers Ava and Evan are her great grandbabies, and strikes a reluctant agreement with Charlie and Lucifer to help train them.
Adam sees a chance to woo her back but she makes it clear she isn't up for his suave anymore...even if she hates to admit he still leaves her weak in the knees.
Red hair referencing clay/the red apple, and it's the color or love and passion
Her work outfit varies but she tends to wear comfy t shirts and overalls. Sometimes she likes to embroider with funky patterns
While passive and meek in the past, her time on earth made her more assertive
Thick brows like adam since she is made to be in his likeness somewhat
✨Curls✨ we bringing texture up in this BITCH
Hair used to be super long but over time she cut it short for manageability & to shed her old life
Used to wear pink blue and gold in heaven, now she wears variety of colors; essentially Rainbow/Multicolor themed
You can't see it but she has freckles
Definitely hippie/New Age vibes
Think of her as Miss Frizzle but more emotionally complex
Deeply regrets trusting Lilith and Lucifer so it was really REALLY hard for to accept Charlie
Her newfound independence terrifies and angers Adam...and arouses him....fuck...
Let's just say they're the most complicated exes ever
Dark brown eyes representing earth; also BROWN skin, I headcanon her to be MENA/african.
She eats just as many ribs as Adam.
Doesn't like apples but she do love oranges and honey on pears
Has a butterfly motif and wings symbolized her metaphorical death and rebirth into her own person
Thought about giving her a lioness motif to complement Adam's horns + lions protect the pride
Main flaw used her naivety and impulsiveness, now it's her distrust and low self worth; she's still kinda impulsive
Arc is realizing she has to accept her past and that she is allowed to find herself and breathe again, that not every mistake have devastating consequences
Mises Cain terribly, admits she forgives him for killing Abel
She's the one who gave Little Cloud (the purple lamb) to Abel
Bonds with Cassidy over their mutual interest in plants and religious trauma
Adores Flora, loves to talk about her kids with Flora and made sure Flora lives comfortably while temporarily stationed in heaven
Does stain glass projects too

the moment weve all been waiting for EXALTED SECRET 2023 BIOS YAAAAAY
Heres my bios for the secret santa ! this years theme is Girls Who Rot, Have Rotted Previously, or Are Rotting Right Now
I like to provide some little details, tidbits, tone and setting ideas in my bios in case you want to draw them in like a little scene; don't feel obligated to get that fancy, though!
without further ado.
Tumblr media
Pleione (Plin for short, she/they, roughly equivalent to early 20s) is a Marrow Aspect forged from the remnants of a young royal from a long-forgotten kingdom, resuscitated from the depths of the mausoleum in which her body was interred by (accidental) necromantic means. She's spent the past two decades quietly living on her Anchor's manse-estate, indulging in her passions for art and botany.
Plin is a big chicken who is deathly terrified of conflict and does a lot of screaming and cowering when things come to blows for someone who
Tumblr media
Her personality is particular, peculiar, and holier-than-thou. She's got dynastic sensibilities, snobbish and disinclined to associate with 'the proles'. Get her on the subject of one of her special interests, though, and you might find each other fast friends.
Motifs- Plin has an orchid motif on account of the fact that she needs a dose of a special tea made from a (formerly) extinct orchid several times a day in order to NOT DIE. She hasn't died yet. She doesnt know she can come back give her a break. Some other motifs include glass, terrariums, spiders & fireflies; marble & porcelain, old-timey anatomical drawings, delicate floral and baroque patterns; antique-white, minty green, deep purple, and black.
Ideas- If you want to draw her doing something she is equally likely to be found reclining on a huge pile of pillows with a book or with her knees planted in the dirt rooting around in a thorny shrub. She loves to dissect and draw plants and is liable to be found at a desk or behind an easel doing one of those activities
Anima- Currently I am thinking... a grove filled with ghostly-white plants twining over enormous bones (hopefully of the animal variety, but hard to say, really) and probably features giant flowering orchids that are shaped suspiciously like skulls... Also its hard to say but the ground does look an awful lot like meat, and those stringy bits look an awful lot like connective tissue... hmm

Desert Fang Grim Devil Lioness (Grim for short, she/her, 36 yrs old) is a renegade Midnight caste former-warlord-turned-backwoods vampire-MILF. upgrades!
Grim was fazed a lot as a child (being pawned off by your family as a slave will do that to you) and vowed to grow up into a woman who Wouldn't Be Fazed By Anything. Having achieved this (with a few notable exceptions), she mostly gets her way by via being larger, stronger, and scarier than as many of her problems as possible. Sometimes problems don't and can't have physical largeness, though, which is annoying.
One of these problems included being counter-merc'd by one of her targets and dying of exposure under the desert sun. She didn't... quite... let this stop her, though. There are people in need of her skillsets, and dying isn't really a disqualifier for their service. She was raised as a deathknight and for several years served as one of the First and Forsaken Lion's most fearsome officers.
Another problem is... More recent. Having run off with her lunar mate and tried to start a family far, far from FAFL's stomping grounds, it turns out toughing it out in the wilds of the North can kind of suck.
Motifs- Pretty normal deathknight stuff. Black iron of the wrought variety, and soulsteel; tattered and blood-drenched fabric, rough-hewn basalt and dark masonry. Honestly got stronger canid than felid vibes, to spite the name. Black-and-red is an obvious throughline but grimy grays and natural tones complete her overall color scheme. Things that are totally inert and lifeless, and will always remain as such.
Ideas- Riding her terrifying steed (basically just a half rotting perma-permafrosted elk corpse with a broken antler), slicing something in half with her awesome reaver daiklaive, hovering over a pot of survival-stew boiling over a crude hearth, walking thru the woods in the dark covered in blood. Or maybe hanging out with her awesome baby (pictured) if youre inclined to draw something... Nicer :)
Anima- A bit stereotypical, I think like. a blasted land with bloodsoaked earth so barren and expansive that it blends with the crimson sky, as well as off in the distance banners that tower like skyscrapers which only flutter by virtue of their enormity. Not even Mela's breath will touch this forsaken place.
Grim is the current wielder of Gorgon.

(WHOOPS forgot the tattoos in the second thing but like hell im fixing that at this point)
Last but not least, the Gunstar Autochthonia Girl Hirudana Siithavari (Siithi for short, she/her, 32 y.o.) a No Moon ostensibly still answering to the Deliberative; at heart, a roustabout and a scallywag. She crawled deep into Authochthon's world-body on a suicide mission and then beat all odds by sheer cockroach-style stubbornness, earning her Luna's favor. Also, terrible death-sorcery (necromancy is sort of an unknown factor in our rendition of the Gunstar shard but she somehow managed to make contact with the neverborn and stumble into its practice)
she likes drinking, and gambling, and yelling, and generally being a nuisance. Sometimes a little bit of heart-of-gold shines through, and quite frankly everyone is probably better off with the secrets of necromancy in her hands rather than someone slightly less grounded in reality.
theres more pics of her in her tag if you want to poke around.
Motifs- Bronze, brass, grimy earth tones mixed with bright accent colors. Black leather, studs, needles, teeth. Tubes, pipes, gears, grates and various industrial junk. Worms, bugs, and other vermin. Dankness, darkness, the sickly shadows of Black Non. Smoke-haze and drug paraphernalia.
Ideas- Generally she spends most of her time at the bar, the gym, in her lab, or asleep. you could draw her pumping iron, or taking a toke on a decrepit sofa in her dingy weed-cave (not a literal cave though that would be kind of fun), or sitting at an industrial workbench pouring over a half-disassembled chainsaw. or corpse. or both at the same time.
Anima- Her lower-level anima is kind of gloopy like a lava lamp. Iconic is a swamp with oil for water, populated by mangroves assembled from pipes and black plastic tube-vines, with the moon reflecting brightly on its surface. Her spirit shape is a Buffalo Leech, one of the largest species of leeches (on earth at least). i'll attach a pic of her hybrid form if you wanna draw that instead!
Tumblr media
(necessary disclaimer for these sorts of things) youre welcome to take this as an opportunity to do some experimenting but if you don't think you can passably represent a certain characters body shape i would recommend picking one of the other options. thank you!

Furry Ninjago Species Masterlist
Felt like making this for my sake and for the sake of anyone who wants to keep track of my furry Ninjago AU thing. A masterlist of the species I've decided Ninjago characters are when I draw them since I can't draw humans :D
Kai - lion
Nya - lioness
Jay - deer
Cole - tiger
Zane - wolf
Lloyd - shapeshifter; usually takes the form of an eastern style dragon
Wu - shapeshifter; usually takes the form of a red panda
Pixal - rabbit
Plundar - raccoon
Fungus - housecat
Korgran - bear
Sky Folk - griffins
Vinny - gray wolf
Garmadon - shapeshifter; favors chaotic motifs, so he doesn't usually look like any one species (think Discord from MLP). When he does, he goes the sparkledog route.
Harumi - kitsune
You're free to suggest other species, as well as species for characters not listed here. I'm always open to drawing a character as a different species than I normally would!!

Abigale, my sisters other dnd character, and adoptive mother of Springstep, the young Tabaxi I drew last year.
Abigale is an oath of the ancients paladin and so I ended up adding a fair amount of detail to her armour based on a sort of oak motif. She is also a trans lioness, sporting a mane that is usually tied back in a braid to keep it out of the way

At the head of the female procession and facing the great god who is borne on the two men, stands a goddess on a lioness or panther. Her costume does not differ from that of the women: her hair hangs down in a long plait behind: in her extended right hand she holds out an emblem to touch that of the god. The shape and meaning of her emblem are obscure. It consists of a stem with two pairs of protuberances, perhaps leaves or branches, one above the other, the whole being surmounted, like the emblem of the god, by an oval with a cross-bar.  ... The goddess who at the head of the procession of women confronts the great sky-god in the sanctuary at Boghaz-Keui is generally recognized as the divine Mother, the great Asiatic goddess of life and fertility. The tall flat-topped hat with perpendicular grooves which she wears, and the lioness or panther on which she stands, remind us of the turreted crown and lion-drawn car of Cybele, who was worshipped in the neighbouring land of Phrygia across the Halys. So Atargatis, the great Syrian goddess of Hierapolis-Bambyce, was portrayed sitting on lions and wearing a tower on her head.At Babylon an image of a goddess whom the Greeks called Rhea had the figures of two lions standing on her knees.
--Simon Frazer, "The Golden Bough"
The Hittite frieze at Boghaz-Keui shows a goddess figure at the head of a procession, standing on a lioness or panther, holding some kind of plant or tree.
Familiar Near Eastern Goddess motifs -- the lady flanked by lionesses with a tall mural crown, holding the Tree of Life. Symbols of power and sovereignty over the natural world.

Do any of you have ideas about what type of ambient magic Tamora pierce's other characters would have an obvious one I think would be Lalasa from POTS having thread magic?
Molly here, since I have the most familiarity with the Tortall books.
Lalasa would absolutely have thread magic! (And if anyone wants to write a Tortall/Emelan crossover fic where Sandry and Lalasa hang out, I want to read it!!) Here are the others I can think of
Kourrem (I think. It might be Alanna's other student) would also have thread magic. She sort of already does. (Incidentally, Tammy also has a short story in which a type of thread magic makes an appearance. I love how frequently she uses this motif, since it's not particularly common in other fiction.)
I like to think Raoul might also have thread magic, after he and Kel have their little sewing race
Alanna and Neal would obviously be healers (they already are)
I think Coram teaches Alanna and her fellow pages to make their own training swords? (someone does) so he could be a smith-mage
There's also someone in Song of the Lioness who is mentioned is good with fire. I think it was Duke Baird. Do he could have some type of fire-crafting (This is what we determined Goodwin's ambient magic would be, since he has an interest in metal-crafting, but is also an excellent cook.)
Tunstall could have plant magic, since he grows tiny roses
Mistress Knoll is a good enough cook to be a cook mage (I guess it's a shame she wasn't born in Emelan.)
and Rosto plays the flute, so he could have some type of music-magic
That's all I can think of, though I would be very interested to see what the Emelan analog of Beka's gift is. I haven't read Trickster in a long enough time (or Immortals at all) to speak for anyone in those series, so I'd love to see people add to this list!
Thanks for the question!

What if Guts and Casca switched roles after the eclipse? What would be Casca’s beast of darkness? Farnesca? That Scene Were Casca Touches Griffith’s Lips But It’s Guts Instead? I want to discuss abt this.
lol I sat on this for a while to try to come up with some interesting ideas, but honestly I'm not really creative enough. I've seen some fanon for a lion-like inner darkness for Casca, on account of lionesses getting a raw deal when it comes to pride dynamics, so I could see that. I also like to see her as a phoenix, as in the White Phoenix Knights, as her own connection to the Hawks while incorporating her resurrection motif.
As far as Farnesca goes, honestly I just enjoy imagining Casca in Guts' place, except more turned on when possessed Farnese tries to fuck her sword or whatever, and with some actual sexual tension. Casca scoffing at Farnese's wealth and religion, maybe Casca more aware of and uncomfortable with Farnese's worship of her post-Conviction arc but also kinda into it... idk.
And I'm really not into the idea of swapping regressed Casca for a regressed Guts tbh, the thought skeeves me out too much. I don't like to think about regressed Casca more than canon forces me to either lol, so I'll pass on speculation there.
Anyone else have thoughts to contribute?

Cersei time! I have some fun ideas for her….
Tumblr media
First I’m basing her appearance on Léa Seydoux. She’s got a beautiful, cat-like look that is so Cersei to me. And her hair here! It’s so lioness.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For Cersei’s clothing I’m thinking a late medieval west European silhouette. I remember her being described in a dress with dagged sleeves, which the first picture has! I’m loving the shape of the first dress, but Cersei would have more ostentatious embroidery, velvet, trimmings more like the second dress. She’s described in lots of green (to match her eyes). But also yellow and red would be appropriate colours for her as a Lannister. Also lion motifs!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I like the first picture for her jewellery. Lots of yellow gold and emeralds. But it would be ahistorical… probably for her to have her hair uncovered so the next two pictures are medieval hair coverings that look Cersei to me. I did sort of want to put her in a giant headpiece for the vibes though….a big henin or something🤔we shall see

My friend is writing up a new campaign and it is so good. The party is a bunch of gods who have been made mortal.
Needless to say I am now playing the goddess of war, conflict, and the divine feminine who is definitely inspired by a melting pot of Athena, Artemis, and Ares — oathbreaker Paladin with a lot of thorned rose & lioness motifs for ~*flavor*~

Y'know, I've watched a fair number of translated Hololive clips and viewed plenty of Hololive EN content, and ultimately, I can only conclude that as a lioness Botan is the only member of any part of Hololive who has the correct avatar/motif/thing going on. Pekora only counts if you're the sort of person who quotes Monty Python in a D&D game
