how am I supposed to find a man that’s a mix of Adam Carlsen, Jack Smith-Turner and Levi Ward?
Ali Hazelwood, you’ve set me up for failure.

Levi: "i'm playing this music in the car because i thought you'd need a soundtrack for your mood, which just so happens to be utter loathing and contempt for me. i'm so sorry i called the meeting without your consent. i fucked up. i didn't mean to undermine you. my phone passcode is your name backwards twice. i'll buy every album of female singer-songwriter you know just so you won't cry. no? oh. the fact that you're crying about a dead possum on the side of the road is totally understandable and definitely not weird. i love you."
Bee: "he hates me. we HATE each other."

So I've read three of Ali Hazelwood's novels and realized that there's a pattern in how she wrote the leading man in her stories:
Wears Henley shirts
Acts like an ass but there's a "perfectly reasonable” excuse
Has a huge house/loft/bachelor pad for himself
Family's pretty much non-existent
Has huge hands that are always ready to catch the female lead
Well-built frame and abs that reveal themselves during sexy time
Has a big thing but advises that the female lead can "take it"
Same lines during cheesy and spicy chapters (and techniques 😳)
Willing to give anything (everything he has, celestial bodies, whatever she wants...)
I can practically make a bingo card but then again, no matter how familiar and predictable reading these novels were, they were a nice break to all the sad ones I've read recently.
P.S. Is this possibly a type? 🤭

" I can give you nice. I can give you better than nice. I can give you everything. You don't have to admit to yourself that you love me, Bee. God knows I love you enough for the both of us."

✩👩‍🔬🧬Ali Hazelwood Stack:
It is so surreal to me that I got to me THE Ali Hazelwood while she was on her US book tour for “Love, Theoretically” and y’all, she is just the sweetest human being!!! She gave me a friendship bracelet 😭 and during the signing, I had the chance to give her this Aliverse sweatshirt my sister and I made.
Her books mean the absolute world to me because I feel more connected to my sister, who is studying neuroscience, through them. Ali writes in a way that makes the world of STEM easier for me to understand and for that, I will be forever grateful.
I absolutely LOVED “Love, Theoretically,” so make sure to watch this space for my review later this week 👀 It might just be my favorite Ali Hazelwood book yet! What is your favorite book from the Aliverse?

Oh my friend took a video of me lazily playing with my Leviwand at a rave! This was towards the end of the night, so I was pretty tired and not fully selling the illusion that makes them so awesome, but yeah. Here's the video!

while i do appreciate the politics in academia that love theoretically throws light on as a poc woman in stem i do believe that the tropes are getting a little too repetitive for my liking. i liked the love hypothesis and love on the brain. i even have the paperbacks for both of them. but love theoretically just didn't hit the spot for me. i am getting tired of the repetitive enemies to lovers misunderstanding and miscommunication trope that hazelwood includes in all her books. i feel like there is so much that can be done with a female lead in stem that highlights how xenophobic, sexist and misogynistic academia can be without reusing the same trope over and over again.
i am not saying the book was bad, i just feel like her plots are stagnant and getting repetitive. there's nothing new to expect and honestly that breaks my heart a little bit. because i love the women in stem representation. we have been ostracized by the society in every way possible and i was really happy to find an author who would finally write from our perspective. but it's just not doing it for me anymore :/

I love ali hazelwood but her books should be placed in the fantasy genre, not the romance genre…..coz a good looking hot dude in STEM who’s also not a misogynist OR a complete total asshole, is respectful af AND calls out misogyny from his colleagues…..is a fantasy alright. A great fantasy, but fantasy nonetheless.

It can't be just me right that loves imagining herself in the place of the female protagonist in stories? Even if it's fiction, I love the feel of being 'loved' by the significant other character. It makes me so happy, content. Like, 'yes, baby you aren't real but at least in an alternate universe I was yours and you were mine, and in that world I got to love you and had the absolute honour to have my feelings reciprocated' way.
I love the idea of being in love. Life doesn't offer me that so fiction does. (Fictional boyfriends on the rise)
I just completed reading The Spanish Love Deception by Elena Armas and I already miss Aaron Blackford.

Couples by Ali Hazelwood: Bee Königswasser and Levi Ward - Love On the Brain by Ali Hazelwood
“Levi, this was never meant to . . . I’m just trying to be honest.” “Honest.” He lets out a noiseless, bitter laugh; stares at the hummingbird feeder, his tongue roaming the inside of his cheek. “Honesty. You want some honesty?” “Yes. I just want to be as honest as possible—”
“Here’s the honesty: I’m in love with you. But that’s not news. Not to me, and not to you, I don’t think. Not if you’re honest with yourself—which you say you are, right?” My eyes widen. He powers on, ruthless, merciless. Levi Ward: force of nature. Sucking the air out of my lungs. “Here’s something else that’s honest: you’re in love with me, too.” “Levi.” I shake my head, panic licking up my spine. “I—”

I've read the last chapter of Love on the Brain about five times already. I wish certain books had sequels, but alas. I’ll add fan art instead 😭
