THE GREENS
Dance of the Dragons (129–131 AC)
To characterize the dark, turbulent, bloody doings of this period as a “dance” strikes us as grotesquely inappropriate. No doubt the phrase originated with some singer. “The Dying of the Dragons” would be altogether more fitting, but tradition, time, and Grand Maester Munkun have burned the more poetic usage into the pages of history, so we must dance along with the rest.

A Game of Thrones, Jon II
“I better go. I’ll spend my first year on the Wall emptying chamber pots if I keep Uncle Ben waiting any longer.”
Arya ran to him for a last hug. “Put down the sword first,” Jon warned her, laughing. She set it aside almost shyly and showered him with kisses.
When he turned back at the door, she was holding it again, trying it for balance.
“I almost forgot,” he told her. “All the best swords have names.”
“Like Ice,” she said.
She looked at the blade in her hand. “Does this have a name? Oh, tell me.”
“Can’t you guess?” Jon teased. “Your very favorite thing.”
Arya seemed puzzled at first. Then it came to her. She was that quick. They said it together:
“Needle!”
The memory of her laughter warmed him on the long ride north.

𝐨𝐜 𝐟𝐥𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐫𝐬
i was tagged by @kingsroad to take this uquiz for some of my ocs! (thank you so much for tagging me! you also inspired me to make answer banners too, but I prefer yours haha!) i went with my three current muses, Jaesella Targaryen (HotD), Catie Carver (Stranger Things), and Laurie Mayfield (Stranger Things), but I may go back and do others too!

Garlic
Everyone's favorite who lightens up almost every situation they touch. While they might not be the most "interesting" character, as to say, the story wouldn't be the same without them. They are what it means to be baby and don't deserve a single bad thing that comes their way. Of course, that makes them the perfect target for angst. Go figure.
Pumpkin Pie Spice
A blend of all sorts of things that all point to one clear direction; a direction that only you know where it's headed. In other words, they're oddly specific, and well suited to be in whatever situation you have them in but pretty much nowhere else. Maybe they'll only resonate with you and truly nobody else understands them, or maybe they're just that type of person who scratches that itch where nobody else does.
Grapefruit
Probably they are crucial and healthy for the plot, but lets face it; you'll never find an angstier SOB anywhere else. World weary, spiteful, and perhaps even sadistic, their main goal is to make sure that everyone will taste the sourness that pervades every aspect of their own pathetic lives.

[ 👪 ] what is your muse’s relationship with their parents like? was it always this way?
oof. complicated. she remembers her father fondly, but theirs was an odd dynamic; with three sons, willem didn't really know how to talk to a daughter, let alone what to do with her, for all that he loved her dearly. they had little overlapping interests before he died, though she took up his bookishness out of grief once he'd been buried and has since begun to feel closer to him when she reads.
her relationship with her mother is... complex. she trusts danelle; she trusts that she has olenna's best interests in mind, that she loves her, that she protects her. but danelle's parenting became pretty isolating and controlling after willem, rymund, and theomar died, so things are definitely unhealthy and a little codependent between them. during the war they kind of only had each other to talk to, so they're extremely close, but definitely not in a way that should be envied.
danelle also holds olenna to a very high standard; she expects her daughter to be perfect in every way (spiritually, physically, emotionally) and her disappointment whenever this proves untrue is very difficult for olenna to handle. it's in a bid to seek out her mother's approval that she becomes queen in the first place, even though it isn't what she wants at all, and for all that she and aegon luckily end up being very well-matched, she'll always harbour a small, secret resentment for danelle for basically forcing her down a life path she wouldn't have chosen for herself.
[ 🐺 ] does your muse like solitude? do they prefer it to being around others? how easily does your muse get lonely?
she thinks she likes solitude dsshdsjk. really, she's just been alone for so long that it's what she's used to? the oakhearts spent most of the dance of the dragons holed up in old oak, being regarded suspiciously by their neighbours and mourning their loved ones. she spent a lot of hours alone. and honestly she doesn't like being around a lot of people after that kind of isolation, bc it scares her, but some limited company (coughaegoncough) is nice. she'd prefer to be alone than surrounded by people at a tourney, definitely, because she'll never like crowds, but she'd also prefer to sit and read with aegon than do it on her lonesome. she finds it difficult to make friends at court (bc she can't stand politicking and everyone who talks to her seems to want something from her) and she's lonely then, but once baela and rhaena extend a hand of friendship to her, she wants for nothing.
[ 📚 ] what books does your muse have on their bookshelf? what books would they like to have? if your muse isn’t an avid reader, is there anything they collect or might like to collect?
oh god so many. olenna's a huge bookworm; she's read the entire library at old oak many times and once she becomes queen, it doesn't take her long to start making her way through the one in the red keep. some of them are silly fairytales, but a lot of them are actually tomes on history and theology; she owns an extremely ornate copy of the seven pointed star that, for the first twenty years of her reign, she reads every night before bed. (it... probably gets thrown in her fireplace when she abandons the faith, but whatever.) she also has several compilations of reacher stories (like ones about garth greenhand, for example), which she reads from whenever she puts the children to bed. i imagine she'd be really interested in acquiring a history of john the oak, the founder of her house.

🐱 👗 ⚰️ for juliana?
headcanon meme
[ 🐱 ] does your muse have pets? did they have pets as a child? how do they feel about animals?
juliana never had any pets growing up, since there was no real room for one in the keep of king’s landing, but she never overly minded. the only animals she has ever been partial to are ravens or cats, but even then she’s never been very good with them. the few alley cats she’s ever encountered have either hissed at or scratched her.
not that they’re pets, but she was also raised around dragons, with both her mother and older brother having one. she never claimed one herself in large part because she is a baratheon by name and has no right to it (a fact which makes her brother’s dragon as controversial as you’d expect), and that always pleased her just fine. she does think them beautiful, if terrible, beasts.
[ 👗 ] what is your muse’s fashion sense like? are they able to dress the way they want to? what would they wear in an ideal world?
she tends to dress in her father’s colours, rarely ever seen in anything other than a neutral black, white or brown. the occasional gold piece will slip in here and there, usually in a coat or jewellery, and after she marries aemond and things become more tense between the two sides of her family, she begins incorporating some deep greens that almost appear black in certain lights.
in terms of style, juliana is often seen wearing modest, high-necked dresses with long sleeves, although in summer she will concede to showing some more skin around her neck and chest. she definitely prefers more structured pieces, especially around the bust, and many of her dresses are adorned in buttons or clasps of gold. her clothes are definitely a form of armour that she uses to distance and shield herself from the vipers at court.
[ ⚰️ ] what are your muse’s greatest regrets? what would flash before their eyes when they’re on their deathbed?
part of juliana does regret abandoning her family, especially considering her loyalty to aemond and the greens brought her very little except heartache. she regrets that war broke at all, and that so many of her loved ones fell on each other’s swords. she regrets that she could not save them from themselves, as hypocritical as that is of her. most of all, she regrets never escaping her gilded cage that was kings landing - she was born there, and as the last and only survivor of her family, she died there too. there was a whole world out there that aemond has promised to show her.

Jon rose at dawn the next day to watch his uncle leave.
One of his rangers, a big ugly man, sang a bawdy song as he saddled his garron, his breath steaming in the cold morning air.
Ben Stark smiled at that, but he had no smile for his nephew.
“How often must I tell you no, Jon? We’ll speak when I return.”
As he watched his uncle lead his horse into the tunnel, Jon had remembered the things that Tyrion Lannister told him on the kingsroad, and in his mind’s eye he saw Ben Stark lying dead, his blood red on the snow.
The thought made him sick. What was he becoming?

while others of 𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐒𝐄 𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐎𝐍𝐆 made names in court or dying on the battlefield, Amias longed for more than a nobleman's life. after a failed career as a tourney knight, he took to the navy under house banners (and The Tully's) and became a sailor. At times his ship is called to fight and others it is merchanting in calm waters. Not keen on returning home since his father's interest in politicals, Amias lodges at The Stepstones during shore leave (before the wars). he balances on the edge of a knife between royal ships & pirates, but youth grants him a delusion of invulnerability despite of his mortal bones. at seventeen he is transferred to the Valeryn navy on well earned merit & skill. before the Trinity forms years later, Amias sees vast & beautiful places with Corlys as a mentor. younger brothers begin making names for themselves at court in the favors of princesses & kings. Amias does not heed his father's call to represent the house as another face in the capitol. he wants not for personal glory or riches. as Amias is pulled into deep battles against the now allied Trinity, he knows morality does not always lie with the crown & honor is not easily found within family.
