Driving Headcanons with the Touken Danshi (aka the Saniwa is fearing for their life)

Pairings: Touken Danshi x Reader (sorry I’m too lazy to type all of the pairings in this) uh... this can be taken as either platonic or romantic it’s up to you

Content Warnings: Potential car crashes/accidents and drunkenness because Jiroutachi, also allusion stripping because Sengo, threats of physical violence (road rage), swearing

Word Count: 1327 words (ish)

Characters: Saniwa/Reader (they/them), Kasen Kanesada, Izuminokami Kanesada, Mutsunokami Yoshiyuki, Tomoegata Naginata (non-binary, he/they), Heshikiri Hasebe, Kashuu Kiyomitsu, Shokudaikiri Mitsutada, Jiroutachi (transwoman, she/her), Mikazuki Munechika, Kogitsunemaru, Sengo Muramasa, Azuki Nagamitsu, Hizamaru, Otegine, Sanchoumou, Nagasone Kotetsu

A/N: Ok so I wrote this A WHILE AGO and I hate driving so I forced all the Touken Danshi mentioned here to drive with me so HAH, anyways drive safely and don’t be like these bozos! also omg this is over 6 months old jeez, also i might wanna do a beach episode fic/hcs with the touken danshi hehe

(essentially Saniwa usually drives them around whenever they need to but some of the swords got curious and wanted to try driving themselves)

- Saniwa (Reader):

- Already knows how to drive and is the one teaching them how to

- Please send help

- “Why did I think it would be a good idea to let these swords drive….”

- Kasen:

- Pretended not to be interested in driving but actually wants to learn

- Wants to drive elegantly and with poise, but has terrible road rage

- Fails the driving test and gave up

- “My driving will be as elegant and refined as me~”

- 15 minutes later at someone who cut him off “YOU BASTARD ILL HAVE YOUR HEAD AND SERVE IT TO SANIWA-“

- Izuminokami:

- Actually didn’t want to learn how to drive at first but then got into a competition with Mutsunokami on who could get their driver’s license quicker

- Izuminokami is ok at driving but due to the competition aspect, he fucking floors it a lot

- Passed after 2-3 tries

- “I’m not letting that son of a bitch Mutsunokami win!”

- Mutsunokami:

- One of the first Touken Danshi to want to learn how to drive, is very interested in how the car works and often studies it

- You would think his enthusiasm would go overboard in this case but is actually a decent driver since he took the time to practice and learn about it

- Passed on the first try, Izuminokami was pissed

- “So cool! Hey Saniwa can we look at this model please!”

- Tomoegata:

- Didn’t really care about it until Saniwa mentioned that they needed help driving around the rest of the Touken Danshi

- Tried their hardest to get good at driving and basically tried thinking of it as a horse, took a little bit, is able to drive pretty well

- Passed on their first try

- “I will drive so that I can relieve the Saniwa’s burden of driving”

- Hasebe:

- Also did not care until Saniwa mentioned that they needed help and he immediately looked into driving lessons

- Ok he passed with flying colors on the written exam but on the practical exam, he has bad road rage

- It took like 3-5 tries for him to pass and would not concede until he got his license

- “If it’s for Saniwa, I’ll drive them everywhere!”

- Kashuu:

- Could not give any less of a shit, “Saniwa already drives me around, why do I need to drive when I know they drive me out of love~” but then wants to show his appreciation to them seeing as how they’re constantly driving them around and it’s getting to them since they’re anxious about driving

- Honestly he was scared as hell when first driving, was constantly afraid of accidentally damaging his car and other cars, so he was anxious, drives much slower out of fear, took a while to get used to driving, poor baby needs a lot of reassurance

- Passed on first try

- While driving on the freeway “Wahhhh this isn’t cute at all!!!”

- Micchan (Shokudaikiri Mitsutada):

- Was also in the camp of wanting to drive and wanted to drive in a cool car (sorry Micchan we’re not that rich) and really studied hard with Mucchan on driving

- In the beginning, Acts like he knows what he’s doing, in reality he doesn’t know jack shit, takes a while but he gets the hang of it, is a pretty calm driver

- Passed on the 2nd try because he made some easy mistakes caused him to insta-fail

- “Hey Saniwa can we get this car, it’s so cool- what? It’s not in our budget?”

- Jiroutachi:

- No just no, you know why

- Booze and driving do not mix, mostly just gets you or someone else to drive her around (taroutachi is the one who learns how to drive lol)

- Is passed out drunk in the backseat

- “Drive fasterrrr~ hehehehe”

- Mikazuki:

- You would think that this old man wouldn’t be up to it but he’s actually interested in learning how to drive

- However he drives like he’s in a Fast & Furious movie and Saniwa often fears for their life while in the car with him, yet while driving like in a car chase, he still keeps his calm demeanor

- Maybe it was to mess with Saniwa but somehow he passed on the first try

- He’s talking about how the earth turns to roads when it was once rivers “JIJI PLEASE WATCH THE ROAD”

- Kogitsunemaru:

- Wanted to learn how to drive in order for Saniwa to get some rest from driving (in reality it’s so he can have more time with them and so they can brush his hair)

- Was really confused on what he was supposed to do but after a lot of lessons, he became confident in his driving

- That being said it took him like 3 tries in order to pass

- “Anything for Nushi-Sama, but which direction do I go in once I reverse?”

- Sengo:

- Was also surprisingly interested in learning how to drive and was seen talking to the car??? (I’m in love with my car plays in the bg /j)

- Despite what others may think, he’s a natural at driving and you feel so safe in the car with him??? Saniwa could take a breather in the chaos with him that being said he often says he’ll strip in the car

- Passed on first try with flying colors

- “Fufufufufufufu, the car is obeying my commands, shall I strip? Why are you asking me to pull over?”

- Azuki:

- Mostly wanted to learn how to drive so he could drive the Tantous to get sweets and to get groceries without having to get Saniwa to drive him every time

- Thankfully doesn’t have road rage but he’s very slow, like too slow man, like driving 40 mph on a freeway type of slow, Saniwa was about to push him out of the driver’s seat and floor it for him, he’s just concerned for the children’s safety

- Passed after 2-3 tries

- After Saniwa tells him to please be within the speed limit “Think of the children Saniwa, I don’t want to accidentally shake them with my driving.” You almost get pulled over for driving so slow, Azuki

- Hizamaru:

- Mostly just wanted to be able to drive his brother and you around, nothing else, so he put his heart into learning how to drive

- Did pretty well on the written portion but was too overly concerned on the road to focus, often Saniwa had to reassure him that he’s doing great

- Passed on his 2nd try, would have passed on the 1st try if he didn’t second guess himself

- “Maybe Anija will remember my name once I drive him everywhere!” Hizamaru baby….

- Otegine:

- Huh??? Why are you asking a spear that’s only good at piercing to drive? Was really against it until he saw how much ‘fun’ everyone else was having and decided to give it a go

- His driving is choppy and abrupt to say the least, Saniwa’s head hit the windshield a couple of times over how abrupt his stops were, he apologized every time

- It took him like 3-5 tries to pass but hey he passed!

- Screams this while on the freeway “The one thing I’m good is piercing, not driving!”

- Sanchoumou:

- Pretty chill about it and up to try anything so he was up to try his hand at driving

- Maybe a little bit too enthusiastic, almost crashed into another car but hey it’s fine…. For now, but is a quick learner and good listener so he should be fine… in theory

- It took him like 3-4 times but hey this bird can drive now!

- “Let’s see how fast this little bird goes!” You had to make him slow down before he got a ticket

- Nagasone:

- Was a little interested and was up for anything so he tried his hand at it

- Pretty chill driver that made sure to listen to your instructions, honestly he comes off as a natural until you snap out of it when he runs over a curb

- Passed on first try

- “I guess this counterfeit is good at driving too!”

- After all of that however Saniwa never wanted to teach driving ever again and passes out

Alrighty, this is the...3rd oneshot book I've made.

But i never had a oneshot book so big though.

(THAT DIRTY JOKE WAS NOT INTENDED)

Okay, I'll explain a few rules here for requesting.

1. Do not request smut or sex between blood-related characters, PLEASE. NO. INCEST.

2. Be specific when requesting, don't just type character x reader, give me more detail on what you want me to write, this rule applies to oneshots, headcanons, scenarios and AU's.

3. This should be expected, but I'm putting this down here anyway. I do not write sex scenes with minors In them. Nor do I write minors with a character who is 18+, smut or not.

4. I can also write Polyandry / Polygyny, LGBT+ etc.

5. If you request sexual trauma or rape, I will NOT write It explicitly. Same with gore.

6. I also write character x character and oc x character, If you want me to write a character with your oc you'll have to give me information about their looks, backstory, personality, etc.

7. The maximum of characters I write for headcanons are five, don't request more than that, please.

8. I don't have a grasp on writing foursomes, sorry peeps.

*Clack*

Shoes hit against the floor as the owner of them walked through the hallway, eventually stopped walking and went up to one of the rooms, opening the door upon hearing laughter.

"Auntie?"

A woman sitting In a chair next to a hospital bed walked up to the girl and hugged her.

"Crystal! Great timing, dear." The woman exclaimed, pulling away from the raven haired girl, pointing over to the hospital bed, "This Is Rei, she's one of the patients here, can you keep her company for a little bit while I take care of something else."

Crystal nodded, her lips forming Into a smile, "Sure." She said, to which her aunt gave her a thumbs up and left the room.

The white haired woman smiled softly, patting the chair Crystal's aunt was sitting In earlier, "Would you like to sit with me, dear?"

"A- Ah! Sure!" The girl hesitantly walked over and sat In the chair by the hospital bed.

She's pretty...

"Do you come to the hospital often?"

Crystal jumped slightly, "Ah...I do sometimes so I can visit my aunt..."

"Well, when you come by..Can you visit me? I would appreciate the company."

Crystal looked up, smiling once more, "Of course!"

Crystal's feet moved back and forth as she wasn't really paying attention In class and looking at the heterochromiac boy who's seat was In front of hers, he turned his head to meet her eyes, aware of her staring and raising a brow. Crystal quickly turned her head, her face was flushed red as she covered It.

He's so quiet...

Steps were heard going down the hallway,

"Don't talk to her, It'll make everything worse than what It Is."

Screw that.

Shouto opened the door, about to say something but widened his eyes when he saw a familiar face.

Crystal turned her head to the door upon hearing It open and her eyes widened also.

After a while of Shouto talking with his mother, reuniting with her and Rei explaining the situation of Crystal visiting her both of the teenagers eventually went together to go visit Rei who would often wink and say something along the lines of, 'You two have been getting close lately' or 'I'm so glad you both are friends'.

And that one day came.

Crystal handed the flowers In the vase to Rei, "Here you go, I hope you like them!"

Rei looked at the flowers and smiled, "Thank you, sweetie. How did you know I like these?"

"It was actually Shouto who told me..." Crystal rubbed her neck, which was as flushed as her face.

"Hm, that's sweet of him...Shame that he doesn't have a girlfriend yet." Rei sent Crystal a wink and the raven haired girl stumbled, her dark brown eyes widening slightly.

"H...How...Did you..."

"Mothers just know, get 'em tiger!" Rei winked again and Crystal came out of the hospital room, more redder than usual.

Shouto raised a brow, "Are you alright?"

"I- I'm fine! I'll just head back home now!"

"I can walk you back If you want?"

"S...Sure!" She squeaked, earning another eyebrow raise from Shouto, but the male said nothing as they headed out the hospital.

Crystal looked up at the sky, eyes widening once more.

"What's wrong?"

"I...I don't have an umbrella..." She admitted, looking at the dark sky as It rained cats and dogs.

"There's a extra one at my place, we can go there and I can get It for you?"

Crystal nodded, "Okay."

The two teenagers headed to the house, turning around and noticing Crystal was soaked from the rain, her uniform somewhat see-through and Shouto quickly turned his head, his face flushing slightly.

"I...I should get you some new clothes, you'll get a cold..."

Crystal looked down, noticing her clothing being wet she flustered, nodding, Shouto went to his room, grabbing a new shirt, It was a little big but he hoped that It would fit her, he came out. Passing the shirt to Crystal. "You can change In the bathroom." He said, the raven haired girl nodded, heading to the bathroom as Shouto searched for that extra umbrella, after finding It he headed to the bathroom, completely forgetting to knock and he opened the door.

"Hey, I found the umbrella and I'll place It nea-" He froze, pausing with his words as his face flushed slightly and Crystal jumped, putting her hands over her chest to hide the bra that she was wearing.

"Sh- Shouto?!" She screeched, stumbling a little as she tried to regain her balance from surprise, she was expecting the male to leave but Instead he walked Into the bathroom, standing In front of her.

"I like you."

Huh...?!

The girl wasn't sure If she should laugh or say that she liked him as well, he just said It with such a straight face which turned Into a pinkish hue after she stayed silent for so long.

Is this even a good time to say that...?

Crystal shook the thoughts out of her head, holding the shirt that he gave her earlier over her chest, she blushed and turned her head away. "I like you as well...But..."

"Hm?"

"Shouldn't we talk about this when I'm...Decent...?"

As If a delayed reaction Shouto's face turned as red as the left side of him, to which Crystal let out a soft chuckle.

"I..I'm sorry."

"It's fine Shouto." She smiled softly as the male headed out of the bathroom.

His lips were dry, maybe a little chapped as well.

The kiss was sloppy but It seemed like neither had cared,

Shouto pulled back and Crystal's eyes widened, "Uh...Shouto?"

"Yes?"

"Your left shoulder Is on fire..."

"Damn It."

Levi:

At first he's just...'What the fuck is this shit'.

Eventually he'll get used to It since It's something that you enjoy.

But just because he's used to It doesn't mean he'll understand.

Eren:

He'll be extremely curious.

He'd genuinely be Interested and ask you questions.

Like, 'Why do you enjoy that so much?'

Way more understanding of It and might actually like It, unlike Levi.

Bakugou:

Doesn't give a shit at first.

Then later on he will eventually get Interested.

He'll listen to you talk about the subject...Sometimes.

Keeps getting emo and goth mixed up and you have to keep correcting him.

"Damn It, you're going to get us In trouble, AGAIN." Keith mumbled to Lance as he followed behind him, grumbling. "You know, Allura and Shiro won't be happy If we go to the surface."

Lance turned around, sending Keith a wink. "Relax, we won't be gone long. I just want to see how everything looks on the surface."

Keith let out a sigh, "The stupid things I do with you Is starting to make me question my mental state. Fine, lead th way."

Lance grabbed Keith In a hug grinning, "See?! Was that so hard?"

"Let's just go before I change my mind, fishbreath."

"Why you- You know what, whatever." Lance hmphed, slapping his blue fins across Keith's face as he swam off.

"Ow! Get back here!"

"Catch me first!"

Note

If its okay to ask I am interested in lets say a group of officials have arrived for some sort of inspection/check up which is normal enough and happened before, but for what ever reason when one of the people in this group goes forward to speak our saniwa is visibly uneasy and sacred of them, kind of wilts a little maybe half way stands behind one of the sword boys or grips the back of their clothes. For this one Kasen, Tsurumaru and Kashuu please!

Saniwa uncomfortable around Time Government Official (GN!Reader)

♡ It was a normal meeting with the Time Government, a yearly overview of places the saniwa did well in and places they need to improve on in the future.

♡ The meeting normally took place in the citadel so they could get a good idea of the living space the Touken Danshi were staying in and have the saniwa be more comfortable in their own environment.

♡ It normally only involved the saniwa and the higher ups in the rankings. Sometimes the starter sword, who have seen the sage from the beginning, may be asked to join.

♡ Thus why Kasen stood next to his saniwa as they awaited for the executives to teleport in.

♡ Kasen wore his normal casual outfit but it was clear to anyone who had spent time with him that he dolled himself up more. His hair looked more shiny and neat. His makeup was freshly applied and his skin looked like it was glowing in the sun.

♡ He rested a hand on his saniwa's shoulder to knock them out of their inner monologue with themself. "Don't worry, Aruji. That said you did great last year and you have only continued to improve since then."

♡ Your shoulders loosened and you gave a small smile to your starter sword for his kind words. Kasen returned the gesture as you two looked at each other before the attention was directed to the light that just appeared before them.

♡ Four figures appeared as the light dissipated. All dressed very formerly depending where they came from but there was no mistaking who just arrived in the citadel.

♡ Each of them came up to shake the hand of the saniwa they were coming to meet with. For the most part, everything was going smoothly from Kasen's perceptive... Until the last person.

♡ As soon as they came up to the saniwa, he saw them tense and gently grip Kasen's sleeve. His brow slightly rose as he felt a tug next to him and glanced over to his sage. A nervous expression and cold sweat falling down their neck as the figure approached them to shake their hand.

♡ Kasen didn't need to be a genius to figure out social cues like that.

♡ An elegant smile appeared on his face like normal, almost like he never even lost it as he took the role as host with his saniwa.

♡ As their hand was lifted to grab the saniwa's, Kasen cut in and shook it. It was firm but not so rough to break one's bones. It was a proper handshake as he began to praise the one before him over hearing so much about them.

♡ All the while leading the group to the tea room, glancing back to you to make sure you were alright and taking all the deep breaths you need before you joined them.

♡ When you felt calm enough, you made you way to the tea room to meet the rest of the group. The person that you flinched away from prior gaze stayed on you as you entered the room.

♡ Kasen quickly stepped into his view as he smiled at you. "Aruji, could you get some tea prepared for the guests while I go get your records for these lovely people?"

♡ Kasen's graceful host-like persona quickly won over the Time officials. None of them realizing that he purposely was making sure he alienating one of them from the sage.

♡ As the two left the room, Kasen grasped your hand and whispered into your ear; "I will make sure that they don't interact with you. Just focus on the meeting and I will handle them. I have your back, aruji."

♡ He gave a reassuring squeeze to your hand before he took off to your office to grab your folder.

♡ When you returned to the tea room, Kasen was already sitting next to the person who made you uncomfortable and made sure you were a good distance away from them.

♡ Anytime they would try to ask you a question, he would answer for you or Kasen would start talking to them before they could form the question.

♡ They quickly learned it was better to fall silent and listen to the meeting rather than try to interrogate you with your starter sword around.

♡ When it was time to leave, Kasen was the one to show them out. Insisting that his master had been up for far too long and needed more rest.

♡ The Time Government Officials appeared before the two. Tsurumaru with his huge smile that he always wore greeted the two that just appeared in the citadel.

♡ However, seeing a familiar face, drove you to hide behind Tsurumaru's fluffy white coat. The action surprised him and made him turn around to you, his body blocking you from the two officials.

♡ "That was quite a shock, aruji!" He whispered cheerfully. His golden eyes glanced from your feared expression to the person that was causing it for a moment. "I won't ask... Just follow my lead."

♡ His large sleeve pressed gently against your nose as he turned to the two. "What a surprise! Aruji seems to have a nose bleed. I am going to help them take care of it while..." His eyes darted around until it landed on a figure walking outside. "Azuki-kun! Would you mind showing them to the tea room for us?"

♡ His warm embraced guided you away to the kitchen, all the while making sure he was hiding your face from the figure that was staring at you.

♡ As Tsurumaru entered the kitchen, he let you go and the warmth of his coat quickly left you. Some tea and sweets already on a tray for the meeting taking place today.

♡ A light bulb going off in the trickster crane's mind as he took a single cup of tea and began to pour salt into the, once delicious, tea.

If Tsurumaru is the enabler, then Kasen is the responsible parent. He ensures they go to bed on time, eating the right meals, dressed properly for the occasion, so on and so forth! Yes he will melt under their puppy eyes and eventually give in to their whims, but Kasen does have his limits. Ever so gently will he scold them, wiping away any tears they shed.

Like Tsurumaru, Kasen will also hold little snacks in his pockets for them. Probably fruit compared to like candy but if the little one is a good kid he’ll slip them something sweet from Azuki. Has to stop the other swords from spoiling the little one rotten as well, even if he has to drag Tsurumaru away from them.

Whenever Kasen has to leave for a mission and has to leave the little one’s side, he leaves behind a poem and a note for them to cheer them up. In fact, his notes/poems are almost a frequent occurrence!

While Tsurumaru will full on bear hug his little saniwa, Kasen will mostly give little head pats. If they are desperate however, then he will give them a hug. It’s gentle, not at all suffocating. He would rub their back and maybe ruffle their hair a lil bit.

While Kasen is indeed protective, he won’t suddenly press a blade to the throat of the enemy...yet. He won’t lie and say that he isn’t angry at the government for having such a young one in the face of danger. They remind him of Sayo and how the tantou never got to be...well, himself.

He knows that he may not always be by their side and he worries of that day when he leaves them. He wants to spend much more time with them in his own way. It doesn’t have to be with words, it can just be existing together in the same space.

Kasen works a lot, and when the little saniwa asks him to relax, it’s very obvious that he is reluctant to do so. He has so much to do! The citadel needs him! But he will cave under their lil pouty face and sighs, agreeing to a nap with them in his arms. Expect the others to take pictures of this.

Kasen can and will cry if they refer to him as a big brother/father, compared to the outright crying of Tsurumaru, Kasen’s tears and sniffles can be seen but he won’t start bawling just yet. Pride does bloom within his chest and while Tsurumaru will ask them to always refer to him with the title of big bro/dad, Kasen will want to be referred to by his name or the big brother title. It will take some getting used to but he’ll fall into that routine.

Kasen fusses over the lil one over the smallest things. IF they trip and fall and hurt themselves? Kasen is by their side with a band-aid and ready to fight God. Can and will fight the time government by sending them letters to utterly burn them to the point they could never hope to recover from his words. Or just straight up kick down the door to an office and demand to see whoever the fuck is in charge.

Kasen groaned and grabbed onto her hips, pulling her to him, making the cock enter him all the way. He threw his head back and cried out. “M-move already!” (Name) sighed and thrust into him. Kasen clenched his eyes shut as he started to breathe heavily, “n-no,” he murmured out.

“What was that? I couldn’t quite hear you.”

“I said, no!”

“There we go,” she teased. She watched as Kasen threw his hands up to his face murmuring that that was coming. So she drifted her eyes down to his redden cock and wrapped her hand around it, jerking him off. He threw his head back and cried out as he came over his chest and her hand.

Kasen shook his head, “No,” he panted, “every time you take the lead, you always drain me out.”

The girl shrugged her shoulders. She walked over to her drawer and slipped on a nightgown. “Those stains won’t come out easily.” She said

“What stain..oh. I’ll clean your bedsheets tomorrow,” he mumbled, a blush beamed on his face, “sorry.”

“It’s whatever. You’re probably tired, aren’t you? I’ll clean you up.”

“No!” He shouted, “I mean no, come lay down with me. You already did enough.”

(Name) covered her mouth and giggled, “thanks for the offer. I’ll go to grab some water.”

Kasen sighed and nodded in agreement. The girl smiled and left the room to find the kitchen. Once she entered the kitchen, she spotted Nikkari sitting in a chair, drinking some tea.

“Lovely night, Kasen must’ve had.” He spoke

“Huh?” She responded as she walked past him to grab two glasses then filling them up with water.

“Whatever you did to him, he sure was loud.”

(Name) choked on her spit as she stood still before turning to him and smirking, “You think so, Nikkari? I thought he could’ve been a little louder.”

The man with green hair chuckled and stood up, “anymore louder, who knows who could’ve heard him.”

“That will be my goal for next time,” She winked before walking past him and exit off to her room. Once she opened the door to her room, she spotted Kasen under her covers, eyes beginning to shut. (Name) softly smiled before walking over to him and setting both of their drinks on the nightstand. She pulled back the blanket and crawled in, lying next to him.

“Kasen.” She whispered, which in response, she got a light hmm. As she was about to open her mouth and tell him that he was louder than the thunder, she immediately closed it.

“Is something wrong, (name?)”

She looked at him and smiled, “oh nothing, I just wanted to let you know that I loved you.”

This time he smiled too and placed a hand on her cheek before locking his lips into hers. “I love you too,” he said as he pulled back, resting his forehead on hers.

The girl giggled and kissed him again before another roar of thunder rolled in, causing Kasen to jump slightly. “Are you scared of thunder?” (Name) giggled.

He huffed and rolled his eyes, “no, it keeps on catching me off guard!”

“Okay, sure; whatever you say, dear.”

Kasen groaned and flicked her forehead, “whatever you say. Though we should go to bed, it is getting late out, and I don’t want you to be tired for tomorrow!”

The girl scoffed, “you’re the one who makes me tired! Always giving me extra things to do!”

“Well, I do it so you can start getting more sun!”

“Yeah, I’ve gotten enough sun, alright!” She mumbled

Kasen chuckles before kissing her nose, “bedtime, let’s go!”

“Yes, yes. Okay. Good night Kasen.” She said as she pressed her lips to his forehead.

“Good night to you, too, my flower.”

The girl flipped flipped over and felt Kasen drape his arm over her hips then pull her back into his chest. “I hope you have fun tomorrow.”

“What do you mean?” He asked

“You’ll see” (Name) said and snickered.

Beneath the Cherry Tree Is… || Kasen Kanesada x Fem!Sakura Spirit!Reader

I was yelling about cherry blossoms with a friend of mine and this idea sprung up. I hope you enjoy.

Kasen has taken to writing under the cherry trees in spring. The scattering of blossoms and their nature, ever transient, certainly provided a suitably elegant backdrop for composing poetry. Perhaps it is strange for a sword to be so dedicated to the arts, but if swords like Kousetsu, who disliked fighting, could exist, then surely his devotion to the arts is not heretical to his nature as a sword.

It isn’t that he laments this nature, the state of being a sword. Swords are tools for killing after all. As much as he may dislike the way previous masters used his blade, he has seen plenty of blood and continues to see blood still. But even so, couldn’t he, too, find beauty in things? Is it so wrong to want to record the world as he sees it through appreciating poetry, composing it himself?

He gazes at the blooming trees, thinking of the best way to put their beauty, their transience, and the sense of loneliness such a fleeting nature imposes into words. Brush and ink remain untouched; the search for appropriate words failing him. He can barely grasp the feeling he wishes to convey, yet even without understanding it, surely he should be able to think of a way to begin the poem.

“Dead bodies are buried under the cherry trees, isn’t it?” The voice rings clear; if a cloudless sky had a voice, it would certainly be the voice that breaks the silence. He looks up to see a woman, who, despite the gruesome implications of her words, has a soft smile on her lips. She leans forward to make eye contact with the seated sword, locks of hair falling across her face as her position shifts. Kasen blinks up at her, momentarily surprised by her appearance.

“Ah, that is a work by Motojirou Kajii, if I’m not mistaken.” He composes himself quickly, offering a reply to the woman who’s appeared before him. There is no way he’s mistaken; Kasen knows the poetic words of the work she reference. The opening lines of “Beneath the Cherry Trees” is quite striking, the work is highly regarded even by Kasen himself; had she been trying to assist him?

“That’s right.” The mysterious girl smiles, delighted by his recognition of her reference.

For a time, there is silence in the air as he observes her, trying to determine whether she’s a threat. He concludes quickly that she’s not, and even if she is despite his initial assessment, Kasen could always use his blade to strike her down. He is still a sword of the citadel, and as a sword he must ensure his master’s safety. Another moment of silence prevails.

“Do you like poetry?” Kasen breaks the silence. Certainly there are other swords in the citadel he can discuss poetry and literature with, but such discussions left something to be desired. He’s unsure of what he’s hoping for, asking such a question. At the same time, he knows exactly what it is he wants, even if it is from a complete stranger who seems to materialize like an illusion created by the falling blossoms.

“I am still quite inexperienced in such matters.” Expression regretful, she straightens herself, turning to gaze at the cherry blossoms in full bloom. Gazing at her back, Kasen thinks to himself that the sight is very elegant, like a scene out of a painting. Turning back at him, she continues, earnest and sincere. “I’d like to learn more though, if you’re willing to teach me.”

Kasen agrees and that’s how their time discussing poetry together begins.

He always visits her, always at the same tree, and she is always the same. Her kimono is always a dusty, muted pink, with an obijime in a similar color that contrasts with the red of her obi. He cannot help but think that it suits her and the backdrop of cherry blossoms, perhaps it is the poet within that lends him such a thought. He finds it somewhat unusual, for her to always wear the same ensemble, but then, he too wears the same clothing. Kasen doesn’t think much of it.

As promised, he comes to her with the intention of teaching her about poetry as she’d asked. He learns quickly that her earlier words of being inexperienced with literature are perhaps a bit too humble. For every work he mentions, her eyes glint with recognition as she offers an insightful comment, or remarks on something she appreciated about the work. In turn he offers insight of his own. Kasen is pleasantly surprised that he enjoys these conversations with her, that perhaps his earlier hope is being fulfilled.

The days spent discussing literature under the falling blooms continues.

That day the master comments that Kasen has seemed livelier lately. “Did something good happen?”

“Yes.” Is the soft reply the sword gives.

One day, he asks who she is.

“Hmm, what do you mean? I’m _____.” She responds with the name she had given in one of their earlier meetings. Noting the dissatisfied gaze of Kasen in response to her answer, the realization of what he’s really asking dawns upon her. “Ah, I mean, I am _____, the spirit of this cherry tree.”

With that revelation, she sets her hand upon the bark of the tree Kasen had sat under that day when they first met. A sheepish smile adorns her features, as if to say that she hadn’t meant for it to be a secret.

“I see.” Kasen is not sure what to make of this revelation, but he doesn’t find himself surprised, as if he had expected that to be the answer to be all along. After all, how many times had he thought that the young woman was more like a dream than reality?

“I thought you would be more surprised.”

“I am a sword spirit, after all. It isn’t that strange to think that you are a deity of a cherry tree.”

With a good-natured laugh, she agrees that it isn’t so strange. Barely missing a heartbeat, she then prompts him to sit down next to her, at the base of the tree.

Noticing his writing implements, she knows that today is a day where he wants to write poetry. As he takes a seat near her, she watches as he focuses, strokes of black ink contrasting with the paleness of the flowers. In turn, he looks back at her, which prompts her to selfishly ask him for something.

“Write me a poem sometime, okay?” He barely hears her request, with how taken he is by her form, dusted with the delicate blooms upon her shoulder and hair. Turning back to his work, he offers an ambiguous response. She is indeed like a dream, an elegant, delicate dream that he feels will vanish when the cherry blossoms do.

She’s more quiet today than usual, her ordinarily animated manner of speaking subdued.

“Are you all right?” They both occupy human forms, but both are different from humans, different from each other. He’s a sword spirit; she is the spirit of a cherry tree. Similar to each other, yet different enough to make such difference pronounced, loud in the silence of not knowing.

After a pause, her gaze lowering, she professes that she is ill. “I—the tree, that is—something is wrong. I don’t know what it is though.”

Kasen is unsure of what to do, not being well-versed in the care of plants. Perhaps he can ask the master and the root of the problem can be found. Something inside him aches at the thought of losing her. She’s a good friend, being with her makes him happy. He resolves to do his best to save her.

He keeps visiting her, but every time Kasen comes, she seems weaker, farther away. Their conversations have largely become one-sided, with him doing most of the talking. He recites poetry to her, sometimes it is the work of others, sometimes his own. The cherry blossom tree seems to enjoy these times, even if she doesn’t speak much anymore.

Then the day he feared comes, when she grabs him by the sleeve as he leaves. The dread he feels already tells him what’s coming, but still he turns around, to face her properly one last time.

“Sorry, but it’s best if you forget about me. I think this is the last time we’ll meet.” With a sorrowful crescent of a smile, she bows to him. “Thank you for everything. I’m really glad to have met you, Kasen.”

“Don’t say that. This isn’t good bye.” But the look she gives him in response tells him that it is. Even so, she offers one of the smiles he has come to think of fondly and unlike all the times before, gazing upon it is painful.

“You’re right, you’re right. Let’s meet again someday. I’ll be patiently waiting for that time.”

When he visits the tree the next day, she’s nowhere to be found.

Seasons pass and he doesn’t see her. The singing cicadas of summer give way to the rich reds of autumn, which in turn give way to the silence of snow, and then, the arrival of the next spring is heralded with the blooming plum blossoms.

Winter has not yet ended, but still he decides to visit the cherry tree, the one where that fateful meeting happened. Now that he thinks of it, Kasen doesn’t know why she appeared before him that day. As he makes his way to the tree, he wonders if he’ll be able to ask, if he’ll be able to get a reply.

He sets his hand on the tree where her hand had been nearly a year ago, when she professed what she was. Is he corrects himself, what she is because she isn’t gone. She can’t be. Kasen had enlisted the help of his master in trying to save the tree, and by some miracle the tree had not perished.

“Hello.” He doesn’t expect a reply to his greeting, but he can’t stop his heart from sinking when the only response is the crisp air rustling the more delicate branches. “I finished the poem I promised you, last year. When it’s springtime, I’ll bring it with me.”

There’s no response, the wind pauses, and though there is no breeze, the more fragile branches sway, as if to acknowledge his words. He hopes that even if he can’t see her, maybe she can hear him. Kasen’s hand falls from the bark of the tree and he peers up through the tangled branches towards the coming spring sky.

“Wait patiently for me until then, all right?”

When he leaves the tree, he does not look back.

It’s a pleasant spring day when he goes to visit her. Some of the swords offer to accompany him, to meet this spirit similar yet unlike them. The master gently scolds the swords, saying that they should let Kasen go alone. With a grateful smile to the master, he makes his way to the grove of trees he has come to know so well.

His hand moves to his chest, checking to make sure the parchment with the poem written upon it is still there. He made sure to use his best calligraphy; it’s a gift after all.

With her name on his lips, he announces that he’s here to fulfill the promise he made last time.

He takes the parchment from where it rests in his kimono, carefully unfurling it as the inked letters see the sun. The flowers fall like rain, adding pink and white accents to the poem meant to embody spring. Kasen’s voice is soft, gentle, as it always is, but there is a delicate sense of fragility to it as he recites the poem to her, to her tree.

It is silent, after he speaks, with nothing but the scattering blooms bearing witness to his words. He hopes that she’s heard the poem he wrote for her. The feelings he grasped at the day they met are now ones he can fully understand. The fragility and transience of all things, their subsequent elegance, and the resulting sorrow.

The sword rolls up the parchment once more, not bothering to shake out the blooms that fell upon it. He buries the paper with the poem at the base of the tree; it is the closest he can get to giving it to her personally.

Gazing through the branches of her tree, he glimpses the bits of azure sky through the brilliant flowers. He thinks back to when they first met.

Perhaps underneath this cherry tree is the corpse of _____.

But then he remembers her parting words. They’ll meet again, someday.

Valentines Day Special: Making Chocolates for You HCs (Kasen, Izuminokami, Mutsunokami)

Pairing: Kasen Kanesada x Reader, Izuminokami Kanesada x Reader, Mustunokami Yoshiyuki x Reader (all pairings intended to be romantic, but you can ignore this if you want)

Content Warnings: Swearing but that’s it, also fluff

A/N: Ok I wanted to do more characters and might post some late ones but I wanted to get this out on Valentines Day, sorry I haven’t been posting, college is killing me lol, so have this lol some of the characters I wanted to do were Kashuu, Sanchoumou, Hasebe, Micchan, Tomoegata, and many more but here have this ehe. Surprisingly Izuminokami was the most difficult for me to write since there’s so many interpretations of him lol, but Imma try and experiment with him because he’s our lovable Kanesan! Might also post something similar on White Day but the reader making something for these lovable Touken Danshi ehe~ anyways Happy Valentines Day whether you be single, in a relationship, or do not wish to have any of that and want everyone to stfu <3

Kasen Kanesada:

- Would be torn between making you a traditional chocolate and wagashi or some other traditional Japanese sweet

- Either way it’s going to be pretty as hell and tasty so you can’t complain

- Ultimately he sticks with what he’s familiar with and makes flower themed wagashi that look like your favorite flowers

- Will mostly likely present his Valentines Day wagashi to you in the morning so you can spend the rest of the day thinking about it and spending time with him, of course being the poet that he is, he gives you a poem along with it

- The poem is mostly about how despite this special occasion lasting for only a day, the love the two of you share is something he’ll cherish forever and how you seem to enchant him everyday no matter how many days, weeks, months, or years it’s been since he’s known you

- “This holiday does a disservice to our love because it’s impossible for me to express my love to you all within a single day.”

Izuminokami Kanesada:

- When he first learned of the holiday, he was so sure he’d make the best chocolate for you but then reality struck him

- He wanted to make a cool and beautiful chocolate of himself and you, but then it exploded

- He had to ask Kunihiro to help him make it, it took many tries and he had to deliver it to you at night but the smile you gave him while eating him made all of it worth it

- Originally he wanted it to be a decorative chocolate but it kept on either hardening too fast or burnt him so Kunihiro and him decided to make some simple chocolate cookies with your initials on them

- Even though it wasn’t his original plan, he was glad that he could convey his effort and love to you in these cookies and hoped that next year he’ll improve and make you even better ones

- “Of course, they’re good, they were made by me after all! Besides I’ll make as much as you want, it’s the least I can do for the one I love!”

Mutsunokami Yoshiyuki:

- Of course being the lovable Mucchan we know him to be, he really really got into Valentines Day especially since he got to express his love to you

- Unfortunately he wasn’t the greatest at cooking and like Izuminokami burnt himself with the chocolate a lot and had to get help

- Mostly looks up trends with current Valentines Day chocolates to get inspiration and while he was fucking around with the chocolate, he made a mini gun

- The end result ended up being based off the ocean, aka a chocolate in the form of a seashell with hearts frosted all over it, because whenever he sees the vastness of the ocean, he can’t help but be reminded of you

- He gives it to you in the afternoon since he stayed up all night, making it and spent all of the morning and a good chunk of the afternoon too

- “I decided to make it based on the sea since the sea is full of endless possibilities and whenever I’m with you, I constantly feel like we can take on the world!”

Kasen Kanesada, Kogitsunemaru, and Jiroutachi First Date (GN Reader)

♡ Kasen needs everything to be perfect for the first date. He has to look his absolute best, everything has to go according to plan, and he has to make you feel astounded by everything he has put together and how perfect he is.

♡ But those plans fail... rather quickly.

♡ Putting in so much effort to go above and beyond is ultimately his downfall. He is so nervous before the first date because he is stressing over every little detail. He couldn’t find the right flowers? He is nervous you won’t like it and that you would refuse the date right then and there.

♡ He cares about you so much that he doesn’t want you to realize that he isn’t the perfect being he tries so hard to be.

♡ His plan for the first date would be to get a bouquet of your favorite flowers (or the flowers he thinks compliments you best), help you get all dolled up and make some of your favorite dishes together before eating outside at sunset.

♡ Things go wrong left and right. You could of sworn you saw him losing hair from how stressed he was over the tiniest things because all his plans were not going exactly how he wanted them to.

♡ At one point he would probably have a slight breakdown because the nice sunset dinner ended up not happening because it started to rain and he thought everything was ruined.

“It wasn’t suppose to go this way! It was suppose to be clear skies all day... Why did it have to rain now of all days! I am so sorry, (Y/N). This date was suppose to be the greatest thing you have ever experienced and I have failed you so much... I am so sorry-”

♡ After you start to calm him down and gently cup his face to tell him that you loved the date regardless of how things went because you were with him, he feels like he could die right then and there.

♡ Kasen is not one to open his heart to many and give them everything he has but you being who you are and saying such sweet things to him, he can’t help but lean into his desires and kiss you right then and there.

♡ He would apologize very quickly after the connection his broken, confessing that he was so enveloped with love that he couldn’t just stand there and listen any longer. He needed to express his love somehow.

♡ The first date ends up being such a fun time between the two of you. Even if things don’t go according to plan, the two see different sides of each other that they might of not seen before.

♡ The first date showed you that Kasen has always tried to be perfect and keep an appearance, even trying so hard to keep that up because he wanted to impress a person he cares so much about because he was scared of them seeing his more human side and thinking he wasn’t what he always showed before.

♡ Kasen learns that even if he isn’t entirely perfect and make mistakes, you love him for all that. You think that when he gets so flustered and start to drop things, it is very adorable. You make Kasen feel loved for who he is. The true him. Not the perfect version he tried to show everyone.

♡ Kogitsunemaru was a little tough to figure out because he is an older soul and didn’t interact with the culture of humans much before getting his human form. His expertise was with plays and the fox spirit that is part of him.

♡ When the two of you decide to go on your first date, Kogitsunemaru is rather lost on what to do since he wasn’t sure what was common for the first date.

♡ He watched as many romantic movies he could to get an good idea of what you would expect from him and... None of them really spoke to him. He liked the flowers idea and maybe a dinner! But... He couldn’t put himself in the shoes of the male lead at all.

♡ So he decided to go with his heart!

♡ He got some flowers, not a bouquet like Kasen but some that he picked himself and reminded him of you, and got some swords to help him with making food that the two of you could eat later.

♡ He wanted to keep his plans secretive but made sure to tell you to wear your normal clothing and comfortable shoes.

♡ The day of the date, he was waiting outside the citadel when you were ready with a picnic basket and your flowers. His hair tied up and he was wearing his casual outfit.

♡ He was going to take you hiking! He wanted to tell you everything about his story of how he came to be, about spirit foxes, and wanted to ask you all about yourself while being alone going up the mountain.

♡ If you get too tired, he would offer to carry you bridal style or give you a piggy back ride.

♡ He only stops when the two adventure into an open field that the sun hits perfectly on the green grass and the yellow wheat.

♡ Tiny flowers covering parts of the green to give it a pop of color. The wind moving the plants like a wave from the ocean in harmony.

♡ It is only when the two settle down on the grass and begin to eat do you realize why he picked this spot.

♡ Not too far in the wheat, you see little foxes frolicking. Jumping up and chasing each other, all of them having the most fun and not seeming to even mind that you and your date are in the same field as them.

“It took me forever to find the perfect spot. I’m not a restaurant type of fox... Hope you don’t mind”

♡ Jiroutachi is the most relaxed sword to go on a first date with.

♡ Jiroutachi sees the date as more of a hangout session but just between the two of you. He wouldn’t invite anyone else and his focus would only be on you.

♡ Surprising to most, the date actually starts off with a sober Jiroutachi! It’s starts off with eating some food that someone (Mitsutada) makes for the couple to eat in the morning before Jiroutachi takes you by the hand to start his first plan for the day.

♡ It starts off with a spa day. He is going to pamper you so much. He has makeup, nail polish, hair supplies, face masks, and alcohol ready.

♡ Talking about everything and nothing all at once while he makes you feel like royalty.

♡ Once you are like comfortable and feel like you are on top of the world (and also probably a little tipsy if you have been drinking with him), he will take you out to the world to get you clothes that you always wanted to wear!

♡ This day is all about him focusing on making you embrace the parts of yourself that you are hesitant to show or try out. He wants you to try out new things and feel comfortable with him.

♡ He would also do that! He would pick the silliest hats and glasses, acting like he is a model going down the catwalk.

♡ Overtime he hopes to make you laugh and feel comfortable enough to try it out too, even if it just starts as a joke. He would be your hype man through it all.

♡ Once the couple are dressed up to the point they are comfortable to show the world, he would take you out to eat somewhere! No where fancy because he doesn’t care about that. He wants to eat somewhere that makes the consumers feel homely and warm inside.

♡ After the meal, it’s back to the citadel where they finish off the night with a movie you wish to watch. If you don’t have one, he is picking the worst movie he is aware of to laugh at with you.

♡ Sharing his alcohol with you as you cuddle together and he tells you how much he cares about you. He may be a man that is more times joking around but he still cares a lot.

♡ He really hoped that you enjoyed the date even if it wasn’t anything you’d see in a movie where they go to an incredibly fancy restaurant or go to a ball to dance together.

“I hope together you become comfortable with yourself and trying out new things together. I would support you no matter what, (Y/N). Because I love you sooo much!” He would give you a wet sloppy cheek as his cheeks are tinted pink from how drunk he has become throughout the day.

The Shape of Elegance (Kiwame!Kasen Kanesada x Reader (GN))

Kasen Kanesada was many things. He was a man who was polite and was very of his appearance around others. He always did his best to look as lovely as he could and make sure he had a regal aura about him. He was clean and hated getting dirtied. He wasn’t shy to let his saniwa and other swords how annoyed he was that he was tasked with field duty. Weren’t they aware that his clothes would be ruined and he would be all sweaty? Surely not a sight to be seen with his type of sword.

He was so many things. Some things he showed to the world... And others, he kept more secret.

Like how he became blood-thirsty on the battle field and his anger was not something to be trifled with. He tried so hard to mask these sides of him that he deemed inelegant but they still remained a part of him no matter how hard he tried to bury it deep within him and make it disappear.

He was a man who would let you know that he didn’t like you. How badly he found the Date swords unsightly, especially that Ookurikara.

Kasen was someone who had to people had to earn his praise and trust. Someone who hated his previous master for how brutish he was. Someone who wasn’t willing to open his heart to another because he had learned that even the person he was supposed to love with all his heart, was dirty and ugly on the inside.

However, this time around... That didn’t happen. His saniwa earned his trust over time and became a close ally to the very sophisticated sword.

Kasen Kanesada was many things. A starter sword to his current aruji and a worthy opponent in his current home due to being the strongest one there.

But most importantly, he was gone.

He had been gone for days now. He decided internally that he could no longer get stronger how he was currently, so he asked his aruji for a simple request that they never thought would come out of the sword known as Kasen Kanesada.

“Hey. Will you listen to what I have to say? I wish to become stronger... And to do that, I need to go back to where it all started. To Lord Sansai Hosokawa.”

It was clear the expression on his face was one of determination and one that wouldn’t take no for an answer. He was always a stubborn one.

That was nearly a week ago now and he still hadn’t returned. They had received three letters since his first departure... But since the last letter; it was silent.

The citadel life had continued like it always it. The tantous playing and seeming to have the most fun away from the battle.

The sparring center was full of clashes and sword yelling at each other for cheap shots.

The kitchen was still always busy with someone inside cooking or making tea... But it was never the one that the saniwa was looking for.

Those purple locks were absent in the citadel. In their everyday life... And in their heart.

Kasen Kanesada was one that would fit the label of motherly. He nagged... A lot. However, it was always because he cared. In his own backwards ways, he cared about his new aruji so much and seemed to be by their side everyday to make sure they were getting out of their office.

Even with him gone, they found themselves leaving because they knew that is what they would wish for, even if he wasn’t there to nag them himself.

Ever since the last letter, it became hard to get work done or sleep.

Surely he was going to return any minute now... Right?

Did they truly miss their starter sword so much that they were now questioning their loyalty to their current master? It seemed so. It hurt. They never realized how empty the citadel could feel until Kasen left.

It had been seven days since Kasen first left the citadel to go on his training. Seven days and now the sun was barely raising when they heard the sliding of the front door from their room.

Awaken from their light sleep, (Y/N) jumped up from their futon and raced to the door to peak out. They didn’t want to race out of their room if it ended up not being who they so desperately wished for. They didn’t need the other swords to see their heart-break because they were someone else.

They didn’t need to worry.

Coming in from the outside world was a man with a wooden hat but violet locks peeking out from under it.

That is all that (Y/N) needed to race out of their room and face the person who just entered the citadel.

Kasen Kanesada. The ever graceful sword. The man who was always about appearances. The man that left the citadel for seven days for training. And most importantly; (Y/N)’s beloved starter sword.

“Kasen,” (Y/N) called out into the barely lit hallway. Hope and happiness clear in this voice.

“Aruji,” Kasen took off his hat. The same face as they remember shined back at them with a smile that they could never get tired of. “I’m home.”

It was the starter sword that they remembered so clearly from the face... However it was clear that it wasn't the same man who exited the citadel a week ago. He was a changed man.

His new kimono was now a more purple color that seemed to match his saya (scabbard). The flower he always praised and adorn on his person was now also different to fit his new outfit. A bellflower.. A flower that meant gratitude. To match his new appearance, a cape that remarkably resemble one of butterfly wings.

Even with the changes from his appearance and seemly his personality, too, it was clear to anyone who had interacted with Kasen before his departure, he was more in tuned with who he is as a person.

“I am sure you have many questions, Aruji, but let us get some tea and get you in bed... Your eye bags are very unsightly. Goodness, can’t even leave for a little training, can I?” He would joke as he caresses their cheek, ever so lovingly.

“I have learned many things from my journey. Even learned how my previous master, Tadaoki Hosokawa, was one of many faces... yet, not entirely ungainly as I once perceived him to be. I have learned that the shape of elegance is not just one shape but many. So for that, I thank you. Do not worry, I will not leave your side again. If anything, I wish to be by you more so you can come to learn the true shape of elegance by yours’ truly.”

He would give their forehead a small kiss.

“Let us get you that tea. Making me work so soon after coming home... Well, I suppose that is the starter’s sword job. I would not ask for any other task than to help my Aruji.”
