The Shape of Elegance (Kiwame!Kasen Kanesada x Reader (GN))

Kasen Kanesada was many things. He was a man who was polite and was very of his appearance around others. He always did his best to look as lovely as he could and make sure he had a regal aura about him. He was clean and hated getting dirtied. He wasn’t shy to let his saniwa and other swords how annoyed he was that he was tasked with field duty. Weren’t they aware that his clothes would be ruined and he would be all sweaty? Surely not a sight to be seen with his type of sword.

He was so many things. Some things he showed to the world... And others, he kept more secret.

Like how he became blood-thirsty on the battle field and his anger was not something to be trifled with. He tried so hard to mask these sides of him that he deemed inelegant but they still remained a part of him no matter how hard he tried to bury it deep within him and make it disappear.

He was a man who would let you know that he didn’t like you. How badly he found the Date swords unsightly, especially that Ookurikara.

Kasen was someone who had to people had to earn his praise and trust. Someone who hated his previous master for how brutish he was. Someone who wasn’t willing to open his heart to another because he had learned that even the person he was supposed to love with all his heart, was dirty and ugly on the inside.

However, this time around... That didn’t happen. His saniwa earned his trust over time and became a close ally to the very sophisticated sword.

Kasen Kanesada was many things. A starter sword to his current aruji and a worthy opponent in his current home due to being the strongest one there.

But most importantly, he was gone.

He had been gone for days now. He decided internally that he could no longer get stronger how he was currently, so he asked his aruji for a simple request that they never thought would come out of the sword known as Kasen Kanesada.

“Hey. Will you listen to what I have to say? I wish to become stronger... And to do that, I need to go back to where it all started. To Lord Sansai Hosokawa.”

It was clear the expression on his face was one of determination and one that wouldn’t take no for an answer. He was always a stubborn one.

That was nearly a week ago now and he still hadn’t returned. They had received three letters since his first departure... But since the last letter; it was silent.

The citadel life had continued like it always it. The tantous playing and seeming to have the most fun away from the battle.

The sparring center was full of clashes and sword yelling at each other for cheap shots.

The kitchen was still always busy with someone inside cooking or making tea... But it was never the one that the saniwa was looking for.

Those purple locks were absent in the citadel. In their everyday life... And in their heart.

Kasen Kanesada was one that would fit the label of motherly. He nagged... A lot. However, it was always because he cared. In his own backwards ways, he cared about his new aruji so much and seemed to be by their side everyday to make sure they were getting out of their office.

Even with him gone, they found themselves leaving because they knew that is what they would wish for, even if he wasn’t there to nag them himself.

Ever since the last letter, it became hard to get work done or sleep.

Surely he was going to return any minute now... Right?

Did they truly miss their starter sword so much that they were now questioning their loyalty to their current master? It seemed so. It hurt. They never realized how empty the citadel could feel until Kasen left.

It had been seven days since Kasen first left the citadel to go on his training. Seven days and now the sun was barely raising when they heard the sliding of the front door from their room.

Awaken from their light sleep, (Y/N) jumped up from their futon and raced to the door to peak out. They didn’t want to race out of their room if it ended up not being who they so desperately wished for. They didn’t need the other swords to see their heart-break because they were someone else.

They didn’t need to worry.

Coming in from the outside world was a man with a wooden hat but violet locks peeking out from under it.

That is all that (Y/N) needed to race out of their room and face the person who just entered the citadel.

Kasen Kanesada. The ever graceful sword. The man who was always about appearances. The man that left the citadel for seven days for training. And most importantly; (Y/N)’s beloved starter sword.

“Kasen,” (Y/N) called out into the barely lit hallway. Hope and happiness clear in this voice.

“Aruji,” Kasen took off his hat. The same face as they remember shined back at them with a smile that they could never get tired of. “I’m home.”

It was the starter sword that they remembered so clearly from the face... However it was clear that it wasn't the same man who exited the citadel a week ago. He was a changed man.

His new kimono was now a more purple color that seemed to match his saya (scabbard). The flower he always praised and adorn on his person was now also different to fit his new outfit. A bellflower.. A flower that meant gratitude. To match his new appearance, a cape that remarkably resemble one of butterfly wings.

Even with the changes from his appearance and seemly his personality, too, it was clear to anyone who had interacted with Kasen before his departure, he was more in tuned with who he is as a person.

“I am sure you have many questions, Aruji, but let us get some tea and get you in bed... Your eye bags are very unsightly. Goodness, can’t even leave for a little training, can I?” He would joke as he caresses their cheek, ever so lovingly.

“I have learned many things from my journey. Even learned how my previous master, Tadaoki Hosokawa, was one of many faces... yet, not entirely ungainly as I once perceived him to be. I have learned that the shape of elegance is not just one shape but many. So for that, I thank you. Do not worry, I will not leave your side again. If anything, I wish to be by you more so you can come to learn the true shape of elegance by yours’ truly.”

He would give their forehead a small kiss.

“Let us get you that tea. Making me work so soon after coming home... Well, I suppose that is the starter’s sword job. I would not ask for any other task than to help my Aruji.”

Self-Sacrificing Saniwa w/ Akashi and Kikkou (GN Reader)

♡ The saniwa was not someone who would normally go on the field with their swords... but it was another story when it was the last chance at saving history.

♡ The first mission failed. Swords returned in the citadel just before indubitable doom. They had their lives... Barely. It took days for the Saniwa, Yagen, Hakusan, and Chouson to all work together to stable their mortal form and to make sure their blades didn't break.

♡ Yet another team set out to Battle of Nagashino to succeed this time. The Saniwa being a part of it.

♡ Akashi was the leader and giving all the orders. He was the most powerful sword in the citadel, even if he masked this fact with his lazy persona. He knew when he had to act serious and get work done.

♡ Gun fire, screaming, and the heavy rain were the only thing could be heard. You had to stress your ears to hear the orders that were given by Akashi, even though he was raising his voice on the battle field.

♡ Kuwana Gou, Maeda Toushirou, Izuminokami Kanesada, Ichigo Hitofuri, and Nankaitarou Chouson accompanied Akashi and the saniwa on the mission. Chouson, the lead strategist and someone to help you patch up the swords that ended up getting hurt on the field.

♡ The HRA had already shown their faces on the battle field trying to tamper with history. The swords were all in intense fights with the HRA, trying to keep them away from the main battle and you.

♡ Akashi was the last force to stop them from getting to you and messing with the battle that changed a good part of history. Things were not going as planned....

♡ Most of the boys were hurt and Akashi could not hold off the wave of them going past the team.

♡ “Aruji-han.” He would huff as he held his blade against one of the HRA Uchigatana. “I have one last order just for you.”

♡ Even before he said anything, he flashed his lazy grin at you. A smile that normally made you feel warm inside now made your heart ache.

♡ “Let your swords protect you until the end and get out of here safely, ya?” A quick slice made the Uchigatana evaporate in black smoke as Akashi’s persona faded and you could clearly see how worn out he had become. He was bleeding all over due to him putting his all out there to protect you and the mission in front of him.

♡ So exhausted that he barely had a chance to see feel the Yari HRA lunging to pierce the nearly broken sword. Akashi’s hand shook as he swung his body to try to block the attack. However... There was one thing that was faster than the strongest sword in the citadel.

♡ You had rushed in front of him and blocked the attack for your forearm. Pain rushed through your whole body as blood splattered across the ground and dripped down your arm. The deep wound making you feel light-headed already.

♡ Images of all the swords on this mission flashed before your eyes... All nearly broken.

♡ As the Yari pressed down on your arm, your muscle and bone barely holding together from the strength of this supernatural being... You knew the team was going to die if you didn’t use your last-ditch option.

♡ Your free arm reached for your neck, ripping off the pendant that hung loosely there. A shaky smile turned to the sword behind you who stood there stunned at how fast everything just happened before him.

♡ “I’m sorry. I can’t follow your last order.” You whimpered through the pain as you crushed the glass pendant in your hand. Light emerging and a blast of energy throwing all the HRA enemies back. All the swords slowly having cherry blossoms appearing from their mortal forms as the team and you were forced to teleport back to the citadel. The last of your magical power used up to save your boys from the grips of death.

♡ The citadel in chaos as the team came back to find everyone in critical condition, including their lovely saniwa who was in the worst shape of all.

♡ And the worst of all, they were unconscious and not showing any signs of waking up anytime soon.

♡ Weeks went by before any indication of life appeared. Slow cues that why may awaken soon came as twitched in the finger and toes. Eye movements behind the eyelids.

♡ Akashi was there to witness all of them. When they weren’t surrounded by the medical trained swords taking care of them and checking their vitals, Akashi was by their sides talking to them to try to get them to wake up. That is when the signs appeared that they also wished to wake up.

♡ “Aruji-han, I know very well how amazing sleep is,” A soft break in his voice appeared before your ears as sobs came out of his mouth and warm tears hit your hand, “but it’s time to wake up... I’m so sorry...”

♡ Another week went pass before their eyes finally fluttered open. They were laid up in a bed with tubes everywhere and monitors that was tracking their source of life. Their arm wrapped up to their elbow and hung up so the sleeping body could not cause damage to the already broken bone. As soon as the screen showed consciousness, Hakusan and Yagen rushed in the room.

♡ However that was not the first sword you saw. As you tilted your head, you saw a very pale sword. His mouth agape. His eyes red and dark bags hung under them to show that he didn’t see much sleep.

♡ “Aruji-han?” He wished to reach out and touch you to make sure that what he was seeing was real and not an illusion from the 20 minutes of sleep he gathered from dozing off he got in that day, but he was unable to because that is when the two other swords appears and made him leave the room.

♡ Yagen and Hakusan stayed with you for what felt like hours. They were checking over anything and asking you everything they could.

♡ When other swords could finally see their beloved saniwa again, Akashi was the first one appeared. This time, he looked more clean. He was bathed, his hair was no longer sticking all over and his eyes looked a little more normal. The bags remained under them.

♡ His brows were downcast as he stood before your bed.

♡ “Aruji-han... Was this a test? Do you believe I didn’t care about you enough so you had to test me with this ridiculous quest to get yourself hurt for me? Because it is foolish and I-” A sudden bit of the lip stopped his words as his golden eyes looked at the floor. “I was worried. Hotarumaru and Aizen kept asking me about you constantly and I didn’t know what to say. They wanted to see you so badly but I had to be the villain and say no because I couldn’t let them see you like this... Don’t ever do that again. I don’t want them to hate me because of it.”

♡ His hand reached out to touch your cheek but stopped midway as if sudden fear overtook him. “... This is probably a dream, huh? I finally lost it and passed out and this isn’t even real...”

♡ “It’s real.” You choked out. Your voice hoarse from lack of use, “I’m sorry Akashi. I couldn’t let to see you all break when...” A rough cough erupting through you as you pushed yourself to talk.

♡ That is when Akashi rushed forward, laying a hand on you and supporting you.

♡ “When... I could do something about it.”

♡ A weak smile appeared on his chapped lips, “Idiot Aruji... Don’t ever do that again or you will really piss me off. But... I guess I should have talked to you about the plan more and trusted you more... I’m sorry.” He gently lifted your weak hand and kissed your fingers softly that you almost didn’t feel it.

♡ “No more scaring us like that though. I couldn’t sleep because of you. You have to repay me with some bedtime stories after you get better, no ifs, ands, or buts.”

♡ It was your turn to give a soft laugh, “I will get better soon then.”

♡ The mission was quite simple. Head to the Siege of Kanegasaki and claim something that was accidentally left in the past. It was so simple. Not even an HRA aura. Something that was an in and out task.

♡ However, nothing ever seemed to go the easy way.

♡ The team was Norimune, you, and Kikkou (because he was feeling clingy to you today and begged to come along).

♡ As soon as the three teleported in, things felt off. It appeared that the siege was going as planned but... there was something there that made the two swords uncomfortable and you feeling slightly sick.

♡ They brushed it off. They just had to grab Omamori charm left on the stairs of the castle, they could come back after with a larger team to check out the energy with those who were more equipped to do so.

♡ Kikkou was the first to spot the tiny blue charm on the stairs. “Goshujin-sama, I did good, right? Don’t a deserve a reward... maybe-” He voice called over to you as he leaned over to pick up the charm.

♡ The energy around the group seemed to spike to the darker side as they could see a vibrant blue not too far off. Kebiishi.

♡ It seemed like the group of three weren’t the only group that decided to come to this time in history. Most likely, the HRA appeared before them and try to change the outcome but the Kebiishi abolished them before they could. Now the last thing they had to get rid of.... was your team.

♡ The Kebiishi Ootachi wasted no time to rush forward to end the one on the stairs who was in the middle of doing something to react as fast as he wished.

♡ Luckily there was a sage with a powerful shield that could rush forward just before the swing came down. You quickly pushed Kikkou back as you put up your golden shield in front of the two.

♡ “Goshujin-sama...” He laid on the ground and looked up at you with a tender look in his eyes. However he knew that this was no time for such daydreams about his cherished master.

♡ The two swords got into their fighting stances as you held off the Ootachi before you. The Kebiishi knew that you were not just another sword and more valuable compared to others, locking his target on you.

♡ As soon as he knew the one he wish to destroy first, his blade’s force began to strength by ten-fold. So quickly that you barely had time to react that your shield shattered before you, golden dust filling the air with blood, as their blade cut through the shield and your shoulder.

♡ A piercing and chilling scream left you in a second notice. It didn’t take Norimune and Kikkou a second longer to dash forward to deal with the single Kebiishi before you. Kikkou’s demeanor changed from a lovable person who just wanted their master’s attention and love, to a sinister being.

♡ His blade was quick, cutting down at any vital part of the Kebiishi. He wanted this thing to feel all the pain he could. Not caring for any blows that the Ootachi tried to strike him with.

♡ Norimune might act like an old man who was oblivious what was going on around him most times, but he knew that he shouldn’t get in the way of Kikkou now. Instead coming to your side and taking off his red cloth, wrapping it around your shoulder and applying pressure to stop the bleeding the best he could.

♡ Once Kikkou decided that the Kebiishi was no longer any fun to torment, he struck his blade down on it’s neck vertically. A disturbing smile as he watched it disappear before him in smoke.

♡ The dark presence fading as quickly as the smoke as he rushed over to your side, “Aruji!” He cupped your face as he looked over your body. Without a second thought, he picked you up bridal style and told Norimune to call forth the portal to get back to the citadel.

♡ The two spoke soft words of “Don’t worry” “You will be okay” “We got you”. Before the adrenaline finally wore off and your eyes felt heavy as you rested your head against Kikkou’s chest. His white suit now dyed red.

♡ When you awoke again, you found yourself in your room with Kikkou hovering over you, gently stroking your head with a worried expression.

♡ Right until he saw your eyes open. A gasp left him as tears overflowed and he embraced you. “Aruji... How could you! I am the one that is supposed to be punished instead of you! Don’t be taking my place. I know you are the master in this relationship but I’m giving you an order now. Never do that again!”

♡ You couldn’t help but laugh out of pain but also endearment at your quirky sword. The both of them holding each other’s faces, staring at each other.

♡ “Master... You were only asleep for a few hours but I missed you so much. This time, let me do all the work and take care of you, alright?”

Bff Kiwame!Fudou Yukimitsu (GN Reader)

♡ Fudou has always been a lovable dork. That doesn’t change in his kiwame form. He is still the guy that will get into petty little fights with Hasebe or other swords and then come complaining to his best friend about it.

♡ Fudou wears his heart on his sleeve, which is good and bad. He will make it very known that he adores someone with his whole heart and praise them without asking for anything in return. However, it means that he also gets hurt a lot for any insults that come his way... Even he tries to brush it off.

♡ As much as his best friend is there for him, he is there for them equally as much. Maybe even more so! They have something they wish to complain about? Fudou is there with his favorite snacks and about to listen all the way through.

♡ He is really good at picking up on cues too. So they may be upset about something and Fudou will approach them before they even say anything and ask what’s up. Always there for his best friend.

♡ Confiding in his best friend is the best thing that has ever happened to him.

♡ It is very well known that Fudou’s whole journey was facing his past demons and breaking his drinking problems. Although he is sober now, it doesn’t mean that it is totally broken. He can’t be around alcohol because the temptation is still there, lingering.

♡ This also means that he can’t hang out with some of his past drinking buddies. Some of them understand that he doesn’t want to be around them while they are drunk and that he is sober now, but others will still offer a drink and to hang out with them like that. He politely declines but it is hard on him sometimes!

♡ You being there for him helps him a lot with him not feeling alone and having someone who understands his struggles even if they might of not dealt with an alcohol addiction.

♡ On top of that, he still has nightmares of seeing those that died around him. The things he would constantly drink to forget and not focus on. Sometimes he will appear at your room very late at night just to be around someone. Sudden sleepovers may happen because he truly doesn’t want to be alone after them.

♡ You open your room to him and his room is open to you.

♡ Video games are something he learns to love. Late nights of the two of you talking while yelling over a game is a must have. Quality bonding time between the two of you.

♡ Fudou was a sword that was often times sung about while his owner was very drunk, so the tune wasn’t always amazing. He will sometimes sing very off tune to make others laugh.

♡ Can he not sing and that is how he covers it up? Who knows....

♡ Fudou would be one the most caring best friends you could ever ask for. He loves unconditionally and wishes for nothing but to make his best friend proud of him and to have them smile every day.

♡ Perhaps a little clingy at times but that is because he truly enjoys your company more than anyone else.

Shokudaikiri Mitsutada

He didn’t want you out in the field in the first place, however he was left with no choice but to obey you as their master.

Sometimes he felt like your stubbornness will get the best of you someday, and he has to keep an eye out for you.

His worries will soon fade when he sees your strength. He’ll be stunned at first with how flawless you worked with your footwork as you swing a blade and form spells.

And if at least a slash of a blade comes across your forearm, Shokudaikiri heard you groan, him trying to get closer to you in the midst of the enemies attacking him at the same time, he’ll look a lot more frantic.

He’ll be extra sure to tend to your wounds once you return to the citadel. He loves u so much, for real.

In other circumstances, Shokudaikiri sees you get stabbed right through the abdomen, all he could do was helplessly scream your name, unable to save you on time.

Just like some Katsugeki!Tonbokiri shit,,, when the team and you are brought back to the citadel, Shokudaikiri’s main objective is to keep you alive. Blood trailing on the floor as your arm sticking out from the four wheeled-stretcher.

Once you were sent in, letting the Konnosuke’s handle you. Shokudaikiri tries his best to stay on his ground. Comforting the rest of his fellow swords, tending to their wounds and see how their doing, but how was he doing?

Locked away from everyone for them not to see, Shokudaikiri couldn’t help but cry silently. He couldn’t save you, he was too weak.

As soon as Shokudaikiri hears the news from Konnosuke, he dashes to the repair room to see you. You survived.

He’d stay by your side while you slept peacefully, not knowing when you’ll be able to wake up. Other swords have told Shokudaikiri to lay off for a bit and catch a break, he disagreed at first but knowing you’d be upset if he doesn’t take care of himself, he then agreed to comply.

Finally, probably after months, Konnosuke announces that you’ve finally come to your senses. All the worried swords rushed to see you. You were delighted of course! but there was a missing face.

Shokudaikiri had been staying in his room, unable to face you feeling all the shame for what he did; when he couldn’t protect you.

Probably by the time you gain the ability to walk again, you give a brief knock at his door, entering to see puffy eyes on him with a shock on his face.

He started thinking of his self worth, did he even deserve you? You eliminate all those thoughts that made him question his self-worth as you ask him for a nice warm cuddle session, hoping it would make him feel better, softly saying an “I’m sorry. It won’t happen again.”

Heshikiri Hasebe

Of course, the same intentions; to make sure not even a scratch lands on you.

Sees an enemy attacking you? block that. Sees a blood splash on you? wipe that. He will never forgive himself if he finds you at the slightest state of helplessness.

If you get a graze, man’s gonna be 10x more alert now.

He wishes to just carry you back to the citadel without any worry of having to watch your back. However you insisted on going on with him.

Of course, if you get the Katsugeki!Tonbokiri treatment.. Expect him to keep screaming about bringing you back to the citadel, holding you in his arms, shielding you from anything that could potentially harm the both of you.

And if you do reach the citadel, he will literally drop everything and sprint you to the repair room by himself, the others trailing behind.

He wanted to help you, however he was dragged out of the room, leaving him no choice but to sit still until he hears another word about you.

As soon as he steps out, he won’t hesitate to punch himself for what he had just done. (If you get that TouRan stageplay reference)

“Do I even deserve this position, to work with our Saniwa?”

Like Shokudaikiri, he’ll start to question his worth.

He’d sulk for days, and oh boy it’ll take an absolute WHILE unless he sees you walking around again.

He’ll quickly apologize, as you wave it off that it was just your job.

At the same time you also apologize for worrying him.

Since then, he always wants to see you in his sight, from the corner of his eye. As long as you are within his reach, he’ll be fine.

When Daihannya says his flirty line to you for the first time, you flirted back. It threw him off guard and he immediately became quiet afterwards. From the corner of your eyes you could see a hint of red dusting his cheeks, you smirks.

When the boys flirts at you, you always flirt back.

One time you flirted back with Tsurumaru, he started laughing and tells that it was quite a pleasant surprise before promptly leaving. You can't help but notice his awkward body language and the slight hint of blush he tries to hide. You smirked after he left.

You are quite the Citadel's Casanova. Occasionally, you have gotten a slap from some of the boys for your behaviour, but those times you understand you might have taken things a little too far and promptly apologizes to the sword you offended.

You have nicknames for the swords (Example: Hasebe = Wisteria-chan, Tsurumaru = Crane Bride, Mitsutada = Candle Queen, Kashuu = Sakura-chan).

Every morning you always greet your swords with "Good morning my beautiful flowers."

Mitsutada might want to look cool, but he is only cute in your eyes, and you often tell him how cute he is each day, it doesn't help that he gets flustered every time you tell him that, which makes him even more adorable. One day you might have taken it a little too far that he threw a tomato at you.

You are a strong saniwa, you can bridal carry the boys with no sweat (but you can only carry the tantous up to tachis, the swords bigger than that are still way too heavy for you), you usually do this whenever one of the boys are heavily injured and you have to carry them to the repair room, some of them would struggle at first but you just whisper gently in their ear "You've done well, so let me take care of you this time.", eventually they got used to this and lets you carry them.

You would pat their heads whenever they did a good job at something. The adult swords would often blush and tries to tell you that they're not a tantou. But you kept doing it anyway, because seriously, who would be able to resist their cute blushing faces?

It's fun to tease the boys, sometimes you would drop a compliment bomb on them when they least expect it and you get to see their cute flustered face.

Sometimes the boys would knock your room's door in the middle of the night and asked you if they can sleep with you tonight. Usually it's one of the tantous, but the older swords have appeared in front of your door as well. On those nights they often comes because of nightmares, they said your presence and warmth are comforting to them and helps them go to sleep. So, you let them in and the two of you will have a peaceful sleep together.

You often give the boys kisses to revive their fatigue. A full on kiss on the mouth, a kiss on the hand, a kiss on their forehead, etc, you two will be surrounded by flower petals instantly.

Whenever you go shopping with one of the swords you sometimes buy him a gift (but nothing too expensive, you're not a rich saniwa). You see him looking at something that catches his eye and you pull out your wallet/credit card and buys that thing for him. The sword you are with would apologize for making you spent your money on them but you just reassure them that it's fine. "You deserve a reward for all the fighting you've done."

Sometimes some of the boys would get jealous whenever you pay a lot of attention to one sword in particular. Of course they would deny it, you have to reassure them that you love them all equally, and if that still doesn't work and they are still pouting/sulking, you put a finger under their chin and gives them that smile that always gets them weak in the knees "It's okay if you wanted attention, I can give it to you."

When you do get together with one of the swords, you refer to them as your wife, they are completely fine with this.

But if you decided to get together with more than one sword, get ready for a lot of catfighting for your attention.
