“I can’t believe you don’t have an ice cream machine as part of the tour catering.” YN said as she walked around the dining area of Chicago’s United Center, they were there to perform five sold out shows as part of Harry’s Love On Tour residencies, and it was safe to say that the couple was having a blast being on the road together again.

“Well love, we’re trying to keep a healthy menu, you know, life on the road could take a toll on you if you don’t take care of yourself.” he told his girlfriend as he sipped on a kale and kiwi smoothie, his favorite post work out snack.

“Ugh, health freak, that you are,” she moved to stand close to him, putting her hands on his biceps and making him wrap his hands around her waist, throwing her head back so she could give him her best doe eyes that she knew would make him fold “Let’s go get some ice cream, please?” she asked, putting on her soft voice and the way he rolled his eyes with affection and curved his lips into a small smile told her that she got what she wanted.

“You know body doesn’t like when I eat a lot of sugar, specially after a workout,” his statement earned him a grunt from his girlfriend “Then you can get a yogurt one with no toppings, let’s go.” she demanded this time and grabbed his hand guiding him to exit the room, he could only let out a small laugh and do as his girlfriend said.

With his blue adidas jacket and red sneakers he stood behind his girlfriend in line to get her desired ice cream, gently placing his arm around her shoulders, it’s well known that Harry is a private person and normally not a fan of PDA, but with his girl everything just felt different; he wouldn’t miss a chance of holding her hand or kissing her temple, even if they were in public.

“I’m really craving a vanilla one with sprinkles and chocolate syrup, or maybe caramel syrup and chocolate chips, yeah that sounds better,” she rambled as her eyes scanned the menu, he only let out a breathy laugh and pecked her cheek, at this point he was sure some prying eyes and cameras were focused on them, but he decided to pay no mind to them and just get his girlfriend her oh so wanted ice cream.

“Don’t you think that’s too much sugar, baby? There’s healthier options on the menu,” he said with the mere purpose of annoying her, he knows she’s not fond of the healthy food he often forces her to get “If you try to go all health freak on me one more time, we’re breaking up,” her tone was serious she looked up at him and pursed her lips, demanding for a kiss which he was happy to give her, “H look, that dog is so adorable, he’s looking at you,” she said pointing out a dog and its owner who were standing in front of them, the puppy was in fact looking at them curiously “He’s so cute H, go pet him,” she spoke again, excitement in her voice over the small dog and Harry couldn’t help but melt as his girlfriend.

They found out that the dog’s name was slim and his owner was super nice, Harry scratched the back of his ear and pet him for a while and YN was almost drooling at the sight of her boyfriend being so domestic, after a small chat with the owner and with their desserts in hand, they headed out of the small ice cream show and walked hand in hand towards the venue again.

“You know, we should adopt a puppy once we’re done with the tour,” Harry casually said after having some of his yogurt ice cream with no toppings, just as YN said he would get, “That’s probably the best idea that you’ve come up with but we can’t adopt a puppy together if we live in different houses,” his girlfriend told him as they reached the back entrance of the arena, Harry opening the door for her and following behind, “Well then, you should just move in with me and we can be a happy little family, with a pet and all,” the smile on his face was evident, sharing his house with his girl was something he had been wanting from the moment they made it official during his last tour, and right now, after a year of being together and his love for her only growing strong every day, he knew it was time to take that step.

“Are you sure that you want me to live in your house? I’ll be in your hair all the time, you’ll get annoyed and break up with me,” she tried to joke but it was evident that her insecurities were creeping in, and Harry could only grab her face and place a tender kiss on her lips, “I’m sure, there’s nothing i’d love more than to see your hoodies, guitar picks, those posters you’ve kept since you were 18 in your room, in my house. So yeah, I’m sure” his words instantly made her melt, she still couldn’t believe that she was lucky enough to call this man her boyfriend.

“I love you, H,” she told him sincerely, taking in the intimate moment, “And I love you, bandmate.” he obnoxiously pecked her face multiple times making her laugh, a new chapter was waiting for them when the tour was over.

♡ tofu salad: 37g sesame chilli & coriander seasoned tofu, 32g avocado, 10g diced tomato, 20g mixed leaf salad: 127 cals & 7g protein.

♡ froyo banana bites: 50g vanilla protein yoghurt & mix with a tsp of cocoa powder, 32g banana: 66cals & 5.9g protein.

♡ egg salad: 10g raw kale, 42g avocado, 37g lettuce & 2 hard boiled eggs: 224 cals & 12.5g protein.

♡ salted caramel oats: 23g oats, 152ml unsweetened almond milk, 11g salted caramel protein powder, 3g milled chia seeds, 1tsp flax seed, zero cal syrup & 100g banana: 272 calories & 14g protein.

Beets & Kale Recovery Bowl

I want to share a hearty salad I came up with a year or so ago, as every time I make it I think, dang this is so good, and its nutrition benefits are real big, especially when you're healing up from things. The combination of the earthy sweetness of the beets with the salty sharpness of the cheese, the nuttiness of the farro, and just that dark greenness of the kale really works for me, and maybe it will for you too.

What’s in here:

2 bunches lacinato (Tuscan) kale | high in iron, which your body uses to make hemoglobin to carry oxygen around

Rinse, cut out the stiff stems, and chop the leaves into bite-sized pieces. Sauté in olive oil over medium heat, with salt to taste, until softened but still with some body.

3 to 4 medium beets | high in folate, a B vitamin that your body uses to generate cells

Peel, chop into 1/2 inch dice, toss with olive oil & salt, and roast in an 8x8 glass baking dish (I’ve also used a glass pie plate) covered tightly with foil for 20 minutes at 425 F. Remove foil and roast uncovered for 10 minutes more to caramelize a bit.

1 cup dry farro (wheat berries) | high in fiber, which your digestive system loves

Rinse like it’s rice, and simmer in salted water for about 30 minutes uncovered. Drain well.

6 ounces Beecher’s Flagship cheese (or any semi-hard cheese, I just love this one!) | source of protein and high in calcium

Crumble or cut into little cubes

3 ounces hazelnuts | source of protein and high in good fats, which your body needs to properly utilize all the nutrients above

Toast and chop

Good olive oil | ditto about those fats

For drizzling at the end

This will be enough for about four servings, and easily keeps in the fridge for multiple days worth of meals. I put the kale and farro together, but store the beets separately so they don’t turn everything pink (yet), and add the cheese and hazelnuts after re-warming the rest in a lightly oiled pan. Best warm or at room temperature.

it's been a while because our oven was out of commission (mice in it) and i was sick w some catastrophic mystery illness and then i was back home in colorado for a few days for the holidays but i'm back now so here's another little post about meals i'm wanting to make soon!!

i want to oven roast wedges of cabbage and mushrooms and maybe some chicken w lots of spices and olives and garlic and oil and maybe char some lemons until all is golden and crispy and then whip up some fresh creamy feta (i splurged on it lol it's a treat) w lemon and yogurt to lay down as a base for the roasted stuff and top w olive oil and dill and fresh lemon and maybe some kind of tahini drizzle if i'm feeling ambitious. this idea has had me daydreaming for dayssss

i have japanese curry cubes that have been waiting for their moment resting in my pantry, an abundance of potatoes (15 lbs LOL), fragrant jasmine rice, some wild carrot, and some very pretty marble-y slabs of pork i could make tonkatsu with, a meal that reminds me of my friends in colorado who made this once for us to eat for a DND session :'')

my gf has been asking me to make alpermagronen, a swiss childhood staple of mine, since we ate it on the side of a mountain when we went back to switzerland to visit my childhood friends. it's a hearty alpine meal that's sort of mac and cheese-y with tubes of pasta and soft cubes of potato in a luscious creamy gruyere sauce topped with thick batons of bacon, a heap of caramelized onions and homemade applesauce. very swiss, very comforting, very filling and something that makes me deeply nostalgic

and a surprise to no one, another chicken soup!!! it's one of my fave foods but i want to do a different kind with a dash of cream and some kale and lots of lemon this time as opposed to the traditional carrot and celery one i've been making every few weeks. i have homemade chicken stock still in the freezer and a butchered chicken as well, all ready to go

i want to bake the nyt gingerbread blondies !! they sound up my ally :)

Guy and Jasper

Guy always gets black coffee, no sugar, no cream. Consumes only premium coffee blends. Grumbles loudly that Jasper’s Avari red coffee is clearly superior.

Baristas ask Jasper for tips and tricks on brewing coffee. Upon hearing this, Lance begrudgingly informs the baristas to be wary of letting him make drinks unsupervised, unless they want additional potions added to them.

Toa and Knight

When drinking in public, Toa orders a black coffee, no cream 5 sugars. If Toa gets the drink delivered to him and he drinks in the privacy of his quarters—Caramel ribbon frappe crunch, extra caramel, extra crunchy toppings, extra whip cream.

Toa frequently orders one cat-shaped cake-pop for Knight. Knight complains each time, lamenting he’s not a child. Toa ignores the complaints, since Knight says them while polishing off the cake-pop.

Lynt and Tino

If ordering alone, Lynt gets a bottle of natural spring mineral water. If Lynt is ordering with Tino…Lynt still reaches for a bottle of water, but after hearing Tino lament over the prince’s lack of desire to consume anything, he’ll grab an iced green tea. Lynt drinks three sips of tea before giving it to Tino.

Regardless of the weather, Tino gets the classic hot chocolate and pours the beverage in a mug passed down from his grandmother.

Fenn and Violet

Fenn has tried EVERY drink at least once. Flirts with baristas shamelessly to get extra shots of vanilla or espresso in his drinks. Is personally responsible for half of the secret drink menu items such as the purple drink, the raspberry cheesecake Frappuccino, the sour patch kids drink, and the apple martini refresher.

Regardless of which drink he orders, Fenn always orders a second drink—a mango dragonfruit refresher. This drink is given to Violet, who often combines the drink with Luxuran blue wine before going out on a date.

Roy, Sherry, and Grayson

Roy has tried every tea drink on the menu, including those on the secret drink menu. He always adds a few Invidian tea leaves to his tea. When Roy doesn’t have tea, he usually orders the pink drink with extra strawberries.

When he goes out with Sherry, Roy smiles indulgently and gets two unicorn Frappuccinos, with extra whip cream and raspberry syrup.

Grayson refuses to imbibe in the unicorn drink, despite Sherry’s pleas. Grayson on a sugar high is nearly as eventful as Grayson imbibing alcohol.

Rio and Thoma

On more than one occasion, Rio has paid for the drink order of the person behind him. Will happily drink anything and often asks the barista for their favorite drink and choose that.

When it’s Fall though, Rio orders only pumpkin spice lattes or Frappuccinos. All hail Rio, the prince of pumpkin spice. Thoma, conversely, DESPISES pumpkin spice, with a passion of a thousand fiery suns. Thoma LOVES Apple crisp Frappuccinos.

Lance

Refuses to contribute money to the soulless corporate machine known as Starbucks. Nope.

Dia, Jay, and Lou

Dia never picks up his orders in person. Jay picks up a very berry hibiscus lemonade on behalf of his young charge and then gets an Earl Grey tea for himself. The pair then split an order of kale and mushroom egg bites. Dia’s mood sours greatly if the egg bites are not available.

The other half of the secret drink menu not made by Fenn was created by Lou. Often, Lou will simply point to random ingredients near the barista and ask if they can be combined.

No Lou, don’t combine espresso and lemonade. Just don’t.

Stuffed Butternut Squash with Sausage, Spinach, Pecans, and Cranberries.

Main ingredients

Butternut squash is rich in dietary fiber and is an excellent addition to your menu. This winter squash is a great source of vitamins A, B6, C, and E, as well as several minerals, including magnesium, manganese, and potassium.

Sausage. I used spicy crumbled Italian sausage.

Onion. The onion is lightly caramelized in the beginning and then combined with the sausage. You can use any variety of onions: sweet onions, yellow onions, or white onions.

Spinach. It’s high in fiber and a good source of many vitamins and minerals. I used fresh spinach which I added to the skillet with the cooked sausage. You can also use frozen spinach (thawed completely and drained of any liquid). Another option is kale.

Nuts. Pecans add crunch and texture to this stuffed winter squash. Or, use walnuts.

Dried cranberries. They add sweetness to the sausage mixture.

Italian seasoning combines dried herbs, such as thyme, sage, and oregano. Or, use Herbs de Provence.

The Directions

1) Roast the squash. You will need 2 medium or large-size butternut squash. Carefully slice each one in half, and scoop out the seeds. You will have 4 butternut squash halves. Roast in the preheated oven at 400 F for 30 or 40 minutes.

2) Make the filling. While the squash is being roasted, prepare the sausage filling. First, cook together onions and sausage. Then, add Italian seasoning and minced garlic. Finally, add spinach, cooking it until it wilts. Then, mix in dried cranberries and pecans.

3) Prepare the roasted butternut squash halves for stuffing. Using a spoon, scoop out the flesh leaving about a 1-inch border along the sides.

4) Stuff the squash. Reheat the sausage filling on the stovetop if needed and then add it into the cavities of each of the 4 butternut squash halves. The dinner is ready!

Cooking tips

Use cooking time efficiently by preparing the sausage stuffing while you roast the butternut squash in the oven.

Salt. I did not add any salt to the sausage mixture, because the sausage I used was salty enough. I did season the squash generously with salt and pepper when I roasted it.

Reheat the sausage mixture. Before you stuff the butternut squash with the sausage mixture, reheat the sausage filling in the same skillet on the stovetop right before adding it to the freshly roasted squash halves to keep everything hot before serving.
