Noteworthy thing that happened this week is I awoke from a stress dream very clearly seeing some sort of flag on my timecard saying I can’t work anymore, and in a second my brain was like “aha just because you see it in a dream doesn’t mean it’s happening irl!” And I was like what a POWER MOVE

I was having the most stressful morning, feeling totally overwhelmed because the thesis was officially due today and I had to go submit some physical paperwork to our admin on campus. I spent the morning preparing the files, stuff wasn’t printing right, my formatting was getting messed up… I went to the car and was dreading this whole process but the secondddd I sat down I get a text from Charlie asking if I had left yet. So ofc I said I just got in the car and asked if they wanted a ride. They both said yes, charlie said he needed to print something real quick. Haoran came down and said “Charlie’s coming but I wanted to wait with you so you wouldn’t be alone” and that’s when I just absolutely burst into tears. Haoran hugged me and let me cry. I love these boys with all my heart. Every time I’ve been scared and lonely in this program I swear they swoop in and just being there with me fixes everything.

We went to the admin office together and the ladies told us we did a great job, that we make the department so proud. Then we talked for 30 min with the program director who said she wants to take us out to dinner next week 🥹 I’m just so grateful for this experience and these people and I’m so emotional

I can’t sleep at all but I had therapy today and it’s been so lovely to be able to go in person. I never felt like I could really be open when it was over zoom if anyone else was home. It was a really nice cathartic session. My therapist is Nigerian and really understands a lot of the stuff I’m dealing with. I mentioned immigrant parents insisting you don’t date all through a college and then wanting you to get married as soon as possible after. And she paused and was like “phew I’m triggered”. We’ve been laughing a lot and I’m going to miss her 🥹

There were 70+ abstracts submitted for this symposium and mine was like one of twelve selected for an oral presentation 🥹

Something really cool and sexy of me is that I referenced quant methods notes from last semester to pick the appropriate model for one of the tasks for my job. I tried four options and ran tests and picked the correct one and I feel so wonderful about it, especially after feeling like I didn’t know what I was doing for most of this job
