wanna see what I’ve been up to this weekend?
Tumblr media
I tried to crop out the rest of my messy craft space, and it’s still a work in progress, but I’ve made some test inserts for my Baron Zemo ita bag! (modeled here with Zemo figure and chibi!Zemo for scale.)
Tumblr media
Zeems is a kind of hard guy to find merch for - almost everything you see in here but the funko (who’s a placeholder for now) I found on twitter or etsy, and I’ve been collecting basically since tfatws was still airing.
top pocket left to right:
the smug zemo w/ wine is from @tinymintywolf
the reclining zemo with more wine is from @injureddreams
and I’m also planning on swapping out the funko and adding my suitkovia est. 2023 patch from cutecidesquad on etsy when it gets here!
bottom pocket left to right:
the tsumtsum was probably one of my first commissioned plushies ever, from @bbearpops! I have a larger version of him without the mask too; this one is just meant to be a travel buddy. and now he gets to do so in style ✨
the masked zemo and sleepy kitty zemo (both the keychain and the plush outside) are from @nobledemons. the two kitties are from their Goodnight Baby collection, which has multiple mcu characters and also some other fandoms!
the dog tag (which is kind of hard to read in my desk lighting) is from Zemo’s days as a Colonel, and I picked it up at projectLUNAROCK on etsy. It’s actually a pin stuck into the insert, but it still has that little ball chain on it.
the lego Zemo I also picked up on etsy, there are a ton of shops that sell minifigures pretty cheap.
I’ll probably move things around/clean up the inserts a bit later on (I’m trying something where I cover the keychain holders bc I thought it looked cleaner, but looking at it now, idk). but I got the bag and a couple of the charms at the holidays, and I’ve only now had time to sit down and put a first draft together! 💜 if you like anything you see here, definitely give the artist’s shop a visit!! they make having a secondary character as a blorbo much more bearable lmao
too bad I probably won’t see our man in a movie any time soon to wear it to, but that’s another story… :’D

Hello! I really like your art and noticed that you have a shop. I've also been wanting to make a shop but copyright issues are confusing,,,
What do you do when selling things??
Any advice would help :)
Hello, thank you! 🖤
Honestly, when it comes to fan work on etsy copyright really isn't a concern at all unless the franchise is unusually stringent and they go out of their way to ask people not to make fan merchandise. And this IS rare behavior, to be clear, in almost all cases you can make and sell fan merch and call the character by the name and tag the franchise without any problems. Especially if its something extremely mainstream like Nintendo, Disney, etc.
But, every once in a blue moon you may run into one of the stringent corporations. And don't panic! All they're going to do is-- at literally the highest worst possible and this has never happened to me-- is tell etsy to take it down by force. No legal repercussions, Etsy just removes the listing. The most likely thing to ever happen however, is that you'll be sent a totally informal store message stating that they would like you not to sell unofficial merch. And this is likely to happen only with indie or more obscure things, which is why they're so informal. Also though, if something is really small and indie, you might want to avoid making merch around it just to not take support from the original creators who need it more, that's kinda an honor system thing.
For a personal experience of getting an informal cease and desist... Welcome to Night Vale! I did not know this when I first started selling stickers but apparently WTNV has an unusually strict fan merch policy, they don't even allow it at conventions. No other podcast does all that they do to ensure their merch is strictly in their control. And so I actually had the privilege of speaking directly to a WTNV representative, mostly out of curiosity, and asked them what they can and can't allow!
Its what you expect, basically since WTNV is not a visual media, technically only small details about the design was claimable as theirs, only the direct quotes from the podcast, the Desert Bluffs logo, and any attempt to claim its designed after WTNV or tagging it as such. So basically to sell it I'd have to remove the text and do the whole " Smiling Desert Radio Host " Spirit Halloween knock off costume title thing-- I... decided to just take down the listing, personally lol.
Anyways-- I hope my rambling was of any use to you, I'm really pretty new to selling on Etsy too, but I would advise looking at other listings under the fandom you intend to craft for to get the gist of it too!

My Redbubble account was just suspended. 😡
They don't even tell you why! In order to appeal, I had to submit a photo with my face clearly shown, holding a paper with my name, username, and today's date on it. I guess this can confirm that I'm not just a bot, and that I'm not the same person as whoever else is appealing suspended accounts around now, but otherwise I have no idea what this tells them.
I've had a few things taken down for DMCA stuff before, but the last time was over a year ago and it was an item that was originally accepted as part of Redbubble's own fanart program! It was for the Watership Down animated tv show. I guess once RB ended that particular licensing agreement, everything that was once "official fan art" is suddenly a DMCA violation. 🙄
The last time before that was back in 2020 when Terry Pratchett's estate went nuts and submitted takedowns for everything tagged anything to do with Good Omens, even if it didn't actually contain any specifically copyrighted material - like my design that is literally just the word "Wahoo" and THAT'S ALL. They don't have a copyright on the word Wahoo! (This despite the fact that RB has a tag-specific takedown process where they'll just take infringing tags off your non-infringing design - but no, they took the whole thing down.)
But RB's DMCA appeal process is bullshit - basically if you want to appeal, they give your personal information to whoever filed the takedown and if those people don't sue you within a certain amount of time they'll put your design back up.
So anyhow, I've only had one DMCA takedown in the past THREE YEARS (for a design RB originally accepted to their official fan art program), and since that one I have submitted two of my own against artists who just reuploaded my designs wholesale. And I don't relist anything that does get taken down, so they can't claim I've broken that rule. Not even the Wahoo design, though I've been tempted.
And then here is the email they sent me after I submitted my appeal photo:
Your request for account reinstatement has been submitted. A few things to keep in mind: * We are not able to review every suspension appeal. * If your account is reinstated, you will receive a response within two weeks. * If you haven’t received a response in two weeks, your appeal has been denied and your account will not be reinstated. * Submitting multiple requests, forms, or responding to this email will not improve your chances for reinstatement and could make your appeal ineligible.
So they might not even LOOK at my appeal, and actually trying to contact them about it might make my appeal completely ineligible.
My account on Teepublic, which is owned by RB, is just fine. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Time to find other places to list my designs - where else do people buy fandom merch? I had plans to get back to the library vinyl printer to get my stickers back on etsy but covid has thrown a wrench in that just like everything else.

Warrior cats Biker AU summary + FAQ
The Warrior Cats Biker Alternative Universe, is an AU concept where the story and characters of the Warriors book series are anthropomorphic cats living as biker gangs. Thats the main core thing.
WCBAU - all posts about the AU goes under the “wcbau” tag.
WCBAU ART - If you just wanna find the artworks.
FAQ under the cut!!
Why bikers of all things??
I really just think its neat. But I also have a bad case of Motorcity/Redline brainrot. Motorcity was an animated tv show on DisneyXD around 2012 and was the first fandom I got into. The show got only one season and it broke my heart. Redline is an anime movie about a race in space, its amazingly animated. Both of these have probably played a part in making me come up with this idea.
The story in warrior cats isnt unique tbh, the books follow the hero’s journey storytelling format pretty neatly. And since the conflicts revolve around clans it can very easily be translated into other rivalry groups such as kingdoms, sports teams, school houses, and of course, biker gangs.
Can I draw/write my own warriors OCs/ideas for this AU?
YES! OF COURSE YOU CAN!!! I dont wanna proclaim myself as the “owner” of this AU - I’m just the one who started it. If you have your own take on this AU and wanna approach it in a different way, then go for it! I cant stress enough about how I do this only for my own entertainment. If anything, I encourage ppl to go even further with this idea and get as creative as they want. Its good for the soul.
How far are you into the series?
I actually havent really read the books, I’ve mainly watched the SSSwarriors animations as well as moonkitti’s “I spoil”-series on youtube, but I also listen to a podcast called “Warrior cats, what is that?” which they go through the books in an abridged format. So while I miss out on details, I still know enough to be emotionally invested in the main cast of characters. I have ADHD and reading is, and has always been, a struggle for me - even if I really enjoy it. And there is no way I am going to read over 40 books just so I can draw biker cats.
But as of now, I only really know about what happens in the first arc and Firestar’s Quest. I’m currently going through Bluestar’s prophecy via the podcast.
Do you draw the motorcycles yourself?!
No. I use 3D models that I’ve either purchased or downloaded free ones under a Creative Commons license. Since I only do this AU for my own enjoyment, I dont wanna cause myself unnecessary struggle and frustration when I can take shortcuts.
I wanna buy stickers/pins/prints of this stuff!
As for now I have no plans to make merch out of this. Not to mention that the IP owners of the warrior series are apparently sending C&D’s to various ppl who sell merch of  warriors fanart on etsy and redbubble etc. I also need to mention again that I have ADHD and trying to find a printer, prepare the images for print as well as come up with enamel pins etc, is too much of an energy hurdle for me right now. I have a full time job as a 2D artist at a game company, so I really dont need to turn my side hobbies into another stress factor. However this doesnt mean its ok for ppl to take my art and make merch and prints of it without asking first. I still hold copyright to my own drawings.

Hi I’m Damien and I make things!
You can support me through by buying from my Etsy Shop and commissioning me on and donating to my Ko-Fi.
My carrd with all my info and links: https://emptymasks.carrd.co/
Please use tone tags when typing to me (asks, comments, replies, etc), I struggle a lot to with tone and taking things literally, especially with jokes.
Projects I’m currently working on:
Etsy: I have been running an Etsy shop ‘emptymasks’ since 2017 where I sell fanart and am trying to get into making and selling more original art.
Monster Boy Band: A group of characters I’m developing who are classic horror monsters but now they’re humans in a rock band together. I’ve got ideas to put them in a visual novel dating sim game, comics, merch, and maybe some sort of pixel art game... Also I do crossover art for it with @geickogarbage and her Punk Erik from her Phantom of the Opera Punk AU under #poto band au
Phantom OCs: Just myself and a group of others on Tumblr, Instagram and Discord have made Phantom of the Opera ocs who interact with each other. Mine are Armand Dubois (a costume designer) and Ilya Kapnios (principal ballerino). I don’t post their story in any particular order, but you can see things under ‘#poto oc’ ‘#poto ocs’ on Tumblr and #potoocs #potooc on Instagram.
Short Comics: Any other short one-post long comics I’ve worked on.
@dervampireprince: 18+ only (dni on that blog if you don’t have your real 18+ age listed in your bio), over there I do writing and voice acting of fandom characters and original characters (which I do art for over there). I’ve been less active on this blog because I’ve been putting more time and energy into this one. I have a Youtube channel where I post my ASMR voice acting and I also stream on Twitch under this name as a vtuber playing games, drawing, and more.

Loki anon! They copyrighted everything to do with illegal Disney merch and shit that was getting posted on places like Etsy. As long as my Loki character is provably the Loki from the myths, and not the Loki from Disney MCU, my writing is safe. All mythology is in the public domain!... until Disney figures out how to change public domain laws again haaaaaa
And gender fandom/fandom mess... well, I dont want to say what media it was exactly, the main character was a short high-school boy who let himself get bullied because he thought that would make him a stronger man. Part of his character arc was realizing that he could be strong in his own way, without being rough like other guys. Now, I don't have an issue with trans headcanons in general. However, it gets annoying when every. other. person. headcanons that this soft spoken male is AFAB. Biological men can't naturally be gentle, loving characters, apparently - except when they needed him to have a dick for gay fanfiction. There were a few, vocal people in particular who headcannoned him as afab non binary with he/him pronouns (completely ignoring how he wants to be seen as more manly, not less) After I saw them I lost interest, the sexist undertones and rampant fetishization of gay men came to be obnoxious.
I'm just going to leave it all behind, distance myself completely from my Ao3 name, and start turning my fandom blog into a discourse/LGBT blog while I work on writing evil and morally grey characters. With original fic, I don't have to worry about character-defenders accusing me of character bashing lmao, so I can go wild.
Oh, I see. I guess that makes sense. Would suck for artists doing commissions and such though!
I’ve noticed that the majority of trans headcanons are entirely based off sexism. Like you described; you’ll have a soft male character and people will assume he must be female. Or he must be nonbinary. Same with having a character who might be a more feminine man or a more masculine woman… people will do their best to make them Not A Man and Not A Woman. And fandom has some really weird ideas of what makes somebody feminine or masculine in the first place. I have seen tight jeans being a qualifier for feminine and “gender? Who’s she?” Jokes.
And then sometimes trans headcanons will be used for fetish reasons, which means making a character trans so you can write PIV sex and still call it gay. From what I’ve heard people tend to treat the trans man character like the “woman” of the two… it always rubs me the wrong way from both the transphobia angle and the sexism angle. Because they’re fetishizing and arguably dehumanizing trans people… and they’re also contributing to the idea that female = submissive, male = dominant. It’s like they feel the need to add that in order to establish a dom/sub dynamic. There’s also the homophobia of the attitude I see a lot towards gay sex, often implying that straight sex is cleaner and more natural—therefore the better option. (Can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen this with the GO fandom. *puts a dollar in the “mentioning go” jar* People will just straight up be like “well they can shapeshift so of course they’d choose to have straight sex over gay sex, it’s cleaner!! Gay sex is gross why do it if you don’t have to”)
So it’s interesting that it goes the other way, too—headcanoning a character as trans until you want to write the gay smut. In that case it makes trans people less of a fetish and more of a placeholder if that makes sense? Both are pretty transphobic.
Lol that’s a good idea, good luck!! I still kinda lurk around fandom because it’s not like I have anywhere else to indulge in my interests, but I’ve learned how to avoid things I don’t want to see to the best of my ability. Which really just means staying out of tags and abusing the hell out of ao3’s filter system.
And the evil/morally grey characters?? Hell yes. Those are the best kind and I want all the evil and/or morally grey characters I can get!!

Hi, do you know if Homestuck fan merch is allowed to be sold? I'm kind of new to the fandom and I've heard some people mention that Hussie doesn't want people to do it?? I was thinking of doing charms and prints for a convention but I want to make sure first.
ok so i do have some knowledge on this topic and im not pulling stuff out of my ass like usual but: tentatively yes
technically profiting off someones ip via fanmade content is a legal gray area and companies are very much able to shut your stuff down if they want to. some companies are more strict than others (see: disney) but by and large they are not going to bother with smalltime creators on sites like etsy and conventions the like. its not worth it to them. they will only target people who are doing stuff like mass production of shit.
back when homestuck was smaller hussie DID ask people not to sell merch including even art prints at conventions. basically nothing was allowed aside from art commissions.but the truth of the matter is that one particular person that was in charge of the WP behind the scenes stuff was mostly the one who was pushing this, i remember back when they would constantly talk about sending cease and desist letters to people selling small time HS stuff on etsy and kind of had a complex about this and like. they documented it on twitter in kind of a weird obsessive way. i also know this because i used to sell homestuck adjacent merch in 2013 and got a cease and desist for it from them with their name signed on it just for tagging the merch with #homestuck lol
that person is looooong gone for years and doesnt work for wp/hussie anymore. the time of hella strict c&ds is long over but people still remember this policy and still think its in play and might confront you with it even if its outdated
anyway not only that, but i did talk to a (now) ex-wp person on VC about a year back and someone else on the call asked if it was okay to commission and pay someone to make them a jade cosplay and referenced the HS policy from years ago. and this person basically told us"i guarantee you that andrew doesnt give a shit about that anymore so go ahead"
also at this point viz owns the rights to homestuck. its not just some indie webcomic by a smalltime creator anymore but is now a multimillion ip owned by a corporation. go on etsy and look up any other property owned by viz and see how much they dont care about small stuff. i think we can assume that hussies on the same wavelength with toby fox on the more lax undertale policy of “its fine for you to sell fanmerch as long as youre not mass producing it”

Meta Monday
Today marks 10 days until FCC Chairman Ajit Pai’s planned December 14 vote to repeal the protections of net neutrality. To help continue to spread the word, we’re featuring an All-Net-Neutrality Special Edition of Meta Monday - because as fangirls, this is an issue close to our hearts.
Read more below about why net neutrality is important to fans, creators, makers, consumers - all of us! - and what you can do to help. We especially like the Resistbot (text RESIST to 50409), which walks you through sending a quick fax to your representative and senators.
Net Neutrality and Fandom
Excuse my cross-tagging, but the Voltron fandom will DIE if this passes, so by faninacan (deactivated), Despite millions of people protesting to support Net Neutrality every July, US FCC chairman Asshole Pansy has announced that they will be voting to repeal NN laws soon. This means your internet will be slowed down and your access to the internet completely cut off unless you pay more for them! Want normal internet speed? Want to use Tumblr? Twitter, YouTube, DA? Have fun paying for each individual one if NET NEUTRALITY DIES! (Mirror Link)
LIKE FANDOM? INTERNATIONAL CONSUMER? AMERICAN NET NEUTRALITY RULES DO AFFECT YOU. HERE’S WHY & HOW YOU CAN HELP by @buckmebxrnes, Are you involved in a fandom? Do you log onto a site called archiveofourown? Do you use Tumblr? Do you watch youtube videos? Do you use wikipedia when you are writing a fanfic and need to know a ton of information? Do you use a site called storenvy to find fandom related merch? What about etsy? Like games and use Steam? WoW? Battle.net? Are you a German artist who has a solid American following? Do Americans consume any of your fanfic, fanart, webcomics, original art or fiction? (Mirror Link)
Net Neutrality in Fandoms by @elma-shay (deactivated), I see people making posts about what will happen if net neutrality is killed, and I wanted to add to that by showing how the fandom side of the internet would be affected. (Mirror Link)
NET NEUTRALITY - WHY YOU SHOULD CARE by @lunar-pilot, A lot of people have been saying - Why should we care? This can’t be real, I don’t do politics, or “I’m not in the US” or “tumblr only has kids”, Please PLEASE be informed, NET NEUTRALITY IS IMPORTANT, look at the other hundreds of posts on tumblr that will explain it 100 times better than me, but the TLDR of net neutrality gone IS... [Video] Net Neutrality VS Gaming: The Ultimate Microtransaction by Cleanprincegaming, One of gaming’s biggest problems in 2017 is just how net neutrality might play a role in the medium. Net neutrality and gaming are two things that are not a great mix and today we're going to take a look at exactly why that is. This essay will be explaining how net neutrality and gaming may go hand in hand and how they play off of one another moving forward is something that all gamers should keep in the back of their minds. Star wars battlefront 2 and its microtransactions are nothing compared to this.

A post about Yuri on Ice.
So you may have noticed I’ve been blogging a lot of a certain anime titled ‘Yuri on Ice’ and I felt like writing about it a little.
First off, I used to be really into anime in my 20s. I cosplayed and went to cons and everything. Now I’m more of a semi casual fan who still likes anime but I’m not way near into it as I used to be. I didn’t watch any new series, buy any merch, go to cons and my cosplaying days are over. Every once in a while I might watch an old fav show of mine and once in a blue moon I may even check out a new one. But I was always still just a casual watcher at best.  Then Yuri on Ice happened. Though I’m still not a super fan as far as fans go fyi. I adore the show a lot, as I will go over, but there are way bigger fans of it than me I know. Which is fine. =) Anyway. At first I was wary of watching it. I’m not big on sports anime that have tons of queer-bating in it and I was afraid YOI was another one. It kept popping up on my dash though and people seemed to like it. I still decided to hold off and see how the show would go.  I can’t really remember the full details and SPOILERS AHEAD but episode 7 aired and the fans went crazy. Yuri and Victor kissed at the end of it. I decide okay then I’ll check it out. Right from the start I was hooked, even if it wasn’t what I originally thought it would be. It should be known that I consider myself the farthest from a sports fan that you can get. Mind you, I don’t hate sports. I honestly have nothing but respect for atheletes and their dedicated fans. I could never cope with the stress of routing for a team X___X.  I was instantly charmed by Victor and his silver-hair sexiness; from the fluid way he moves his body to his oozing sex appeal voice. It kind of fits too since we’re kinda seeing him through Yuuri’s eyes. It’s no wonder Yuri fell under his trance and us along with it. As for Yuri, he’s a character you can easily relate to and one you connected with from the start. I pretty much watched as many eps as I could after the first one. I can’t remember how many days it took me to finish. It could have been a few since I was working but I seem to recall it didn’t take me too too long lol. Also not all of the eps had aired since I think 8 had just been released at the time (again I can’t remember exactly).  By the time I was caught up I was totally sold. I loved the story, the characters and Yuuri and Victor’s relationship. Sure the nature of their relationship was never 100% canon confirmed, as in, neither character directly said ‘I’m in love with you. Please be my lover etc’ but the evidence is still there. It’s refreshing because a pure definition (as much as we’d love to see it) isn’t really needed. The love they feel for each other is there for us to see in the interactions with each other and their own inner thoughts.  One of the many things I love about the show is how supportive the characters are with each other. I mean, on one level they’re all in competition with one another and yet they’re constantly cheering each other on during their skates and just in general. It’s just so great to see, especially among young men.  Another thing I love is how the characters are able to show emotion. There’s no sort of holding back when it comes to crying. They just let it all out and it’s beautiful to see. Especially when they’ve just finished skating. *sigh* The cast is fun too, Victor is obviously my favourite but I’m always drawn towards the flirtatious type like him lol. But I like the whole cast too, even JJ though he has his cringe-worthy moments and then there’s Chris and his antics on ice *smacks head* but that’s what makes them more realistic.  Now that the first season is over I find myself watching the episodes over and over. I’ve also been wanting to buy merchandise but the show is still new so it’s harder to get official merch (at least for a somewhat affordable price). As for fanart, I’ve preordered two charms off of etsy and I’m getting a cool fanzine too. I find myself tempted on getting my hands on some doujinshii but I am holding off for now since I’m trying to cut down on my online purchases lol. I’d love some art stuff from Redbubble but I have to be careful because it seems a lot of the stuff there is reposted screenshots (which isn’t soo sooo bad) and art that doesn’t seem to be by the person selling them. I just want to ensure what I’m buying it art from the actual artist themselves and with their full consent. I’ve got my eye on a couple designs but again I am trying to resist. I did buy a phonecase of Yuri and Victor’s matching outfits from episode 12 though! I can’t wait for it to come!
I got a crunchyroll membership because of the show. I’m even enjoying another series now (March came in Like a Lion or aka 3-gatsu no Lion) which is from the same creator of one of my all time fav anime Honey & Clover.
If I had to pick a favourite episode then it would have to be 10 with 12 as a close second.  I’ve just recently discovered that Afterbuzz is doing an aftershow review of YOI and it’s awesome. I highly recommend it to any YOI fans. They’ve done up to episode 8 and new eps air 7pm on Mondays. It’s the perfect way to wait until we get any news of season 2.  Season 2 has all but been confirmed at this point also. I can’t wait for it to be confirmed for sure. Until then I will delve deeper into my adoration of this show and watch it over and over. Things will no doubt die down as time goes on but that’s a good thing haha. I’m not super into the fandom, as in, I’m not interacting with people on tumblr and other places but again that’s fine.  I’m going to simply enjoying this wonderful gift of a show like I have been already. OH! For anyone not wanting to see my many reblogs of it, I’m doing my best to tag them as yoi but I might let one slip without tagging every once in a while.
