Copycat
“A serial killer is typically a person who murders three or more people, usually in service of abnormal psychological gratification,”
There are characteristics that are distinctive of “serial murder”. The legal definition says that serial murder typically includes common characteristics as to suggest that the crime was committed by the same actor or actors. They are distinctive. Unfortunately, once a pattern is seen and the public is aware of the pattern, it can cause. . . confusion. Copycat Killers. Copycats can be lots of things. People who want to commit a crime and use the serial murder investigation to cover them, criminals looking for notoriety (perhaps they’ll claim to be behind the whole thing), and finally, people who admire the serial killer. People who consider what they did to be an example that was set.
Cassidy Krause fell into that last category. She was obsessed with serial killers the way that some girls were obsessed with boy bands. From Jeffrey Dahmer to Ted Bundy, she contained an encyclopedic knowledge of all things murder. Her parents had been concerned at first, but they weren’t wise to the reality of her obsession. She easily waved them away by claiming she planned to get a degree in abnormal psychology.
And now she had a new fixation. Jeff the Killer, as he was known colloquially on the forums that she scrolled through at late hours of the night. A boy-man now, she supposed- who had disappeared years ago, and kept reappearing as a suspect in murders all across the country. A traveller, a minstrel who didn’t sing songs but rather brought death upon people. “We believe him to be very dangerous,” one police chief was quoted with saying. “His victims are mutilated in a distinctive way, usually with a Glasgow smile,” Came the grim report. There were also several counts of arson attributed to him.
So far, Cassidy hadn’t been able to find any pictures of Jeff that didn’t come from when he was around thirteen. He was a boy with blue eyes and light brown hair, quite attractive looking, though Cassidy admitted he didn’t look like he had the stuff in him to become a murderer.
Finally, finally after searching through the greasy bottom of the internet, searching through long dead and abandoned forums, she found it. A picture of the killer himself. He wore the distinctive Glasgow smile that his victims did. His eyes were wider than seemed humanly possible, and his face was covered with burn scars. His light brown hair had become jet black.
Now Cassidy had all the information she needed. Killing style, calling cards, and appearance. She was ready to become what some foolishly dismissed as a “lesser” killer. A Copycat Killer.
—————
Thanks for reading! This is a very short introduction to my Creepypasta OC Copycat. She would probably be willing to copy any of the pastas, and is very good at researching, though her main fixation/inspiration is Jeff.

What's poppin'?
Just fucked my ex, I rawed it
Two X in the mushroom chocolate
Two X on neck, I'm frostbit
Stay dressin', no balsamic
Got commas Comme des Garcon'd it
Cup got ice cubes like Compton
Chef Nobu, cook me raw fish
Long beards but the squad's not Amish
Just bosses, dropouts and convicts
Wallets bigger than Chris Wallace
Dead presidents inside, it's haunted
Yellow tape where I'm from, stay cautious
Made mixtapes wearin' shirts with the horses
It's been a minute since I gave a fuck about a critic's opinion but they keep forgettin' where the bars went
Old timers, damn, y'all got Alzheimer's?
Can't say what your subconscious think
Be honest y'all hate that I switch genres
Fuck models, switch condoms
Eat beef like McDonald's
Eat rappers, Jeff Dahmer
Top five of the young rhymers
Been sick, no virus
I'm an OG now, I do not pay homage
Look, I'm a Cleveland Cavalier
Drivin' foreign engineer
At the Fashion Week in Paris
Cinderella on my terrace
Glass slipper on the stairs
Ass fatter than Shakira's
I saw her live at the Super Bowl
I was in town for a movie role
Toosie Slide in the booty hole
Smokin' woods, eatin' tuna roll
Playing cards like its Yu-Gi-Oh!
And I was only in the studio
I wake up, I'm moody, I roll up some fruity
That have more colors than a Coogi coat
I'm not a rapper that talk 'bout designer
But this is from Virgil and Louis though
Inside my closet's a million options
I put on all black like a funeral
I hop out the plane in pajamas
I do this shit daily, I don't even plan it, whoa
What's poppin'?
Just fucked my ex, I rawed it
Two X in the mushroom chocolate
Two X on neck, I'm frostbit
Two eggs with cheese and sausage
On the bed, she fed me topless
Three X's next to the names
Of the three last hoes on my missed call list, yeah yeah
Red eyes I can't see clear, whoa whoa
My bricks so white, they glow, damn damn
She made an OnlyFans, ugh ugh
Can write my life in books
I'm back to my old ways, I been
Alright, fuck it I'm good

Something made me mad today
(Gave a bit more thought to this message)
It’s not about the person who sent the message, but the ideas they expressed.
They said:
life is all about figuring yourself out and finding what works best for you, because in the end it’s all just a finger pointing toward the moon
And on the surface, this seems like a harmless or even valid point of view. We hear some variant of this idea from childhood. The world tells us:
Follow your heart
You do you
Find your calling
Shape your own destiny
Be whoever and whatever you want to be
It’s in pretty much every single Disney movie. It’s on posters in your classroom. It’s in commercials, billboards, and even your occasional pop song.
And the second part
it’s all just a finger pointing toward the moon.
Might translate to, “it’s all meaningless anyway because we die at the end, and who knows what comes after”
That statement can also mean, “do what thou wilt shall be the whole of law.” (This is a quote worth looking into. Research who said this, how he lived his life, and what he said on his deathbed.)
In other words, there is no objective law. There are no objective standards. What might seem good to you may be evil to someone else. But, both perspectives are equally valid, because hey, we’re all just trying to make it on this crazy floating rock before our clock runs out, right?
(Jeffry Dahmer thought it was right to kill people and eat parts of them. The cops disagreed. But why is one perspective right and the other wrong, when life is some combo of random pointlessness and self-determination? Standards don’t exist. Ol’ Jeff was just trying to live his best life. Who are we to judge? This is an extreme example, but hopefully it shows how ridiculous this paradigm is.)
It seems so innocent on the surface, this idea that’s indoctrinated children almost from birth.
It’s also patently false.
At least for me; I’ve made too many mistakes to trust myself with my own future. I haven’t done what’s best for me; what I think is right in one moment is proven wrong the next.
“Life is all about figuring yourself out--” but actually, I did figure myself out. Lots of people have themselves figured out. They know there’s a Problem and haven’t got the first clue on how to set things right. A huge chunk of the population can’t bring themselves to exercise 10 minutes a day or, hell, even get out of bed in the morning-- and I’m no exception. If I had to be the master of my own destiny, I’d be completely screwed, and the same is true for a lot of people.
The fact is, human beings suck at self-determination. They suck at constructing their own little subjective reality, their own bubble of personal morals (often as sturdy as a house of cards), their own ‘version of truth,’ as if there isn’t a whole universe that exists as a function of a higher objective Truth.
That’s what bothers me: the nihilism, the refusal to commit to any solid belief system or even acknowledge that humans have a moral obligation to search for objective truth. Reality is a shared experience, and going off on your own to “find yourself” without having a solid grip on reality could very well lead to delusions.
So, here’s where I stand on the meaning of life:
Life is not about “finding yourself”
Life is not about “figuring it out”
Life is not meaningless or even as mysterious as people pretend it is
Life is about finding the truth and living in accordance with reality
However, out of free will, people can live however they choose
Just because you can choose to live a certain way, does not mean that is the right or best way to live (see Dahmer example above). There are standards, whether you acknowledge them or not.
Refusing to search for the truth when deep down, you know it exists (the evidence is all around you. No person has an excuse) will have consequences.  I think it’s time to drop the Disney cliches and dig a little deeper. What you find will be well worth the trouble.

Roy Ratcliff, the man who baptized Jeffrey Dahmer, holding a Thanksgiving card Dahmer sent him shortly before being executed in 1994.
“Dear Roy,
Thank you for your friendship, and for taking the time and effort to help me understand God’s word. God bless you and your family!
Sincerely, Jeff Dahmer”

My, my, my. Such language.
Granted, having Donald Trump at the opening of a civil rights museum was akin to asking Jeff Davis to deliver the eulogy for Abraham Lincoln, but the reaction! And the variety! To some degree, it illustrates why few sane and sober people seek public office.
Start with attacks on our governor.
Who knows why Phil Bryant extended the invitation to Trump to be in Jackson for the bicentennial event, specifically the opening Saturday (also Bryant’s 63rd birthday) of the Museum of Mississippi History and its neighbor, the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum? Perhaps Bryant (if he’s not a member of the U.S. Senate by then) lobbied for a job when his second term ends in January 2020. Given turnover in the White House, Bryant might have slipped Trump a resume.
Regardless, our governor took hits from the internet’s political left for welcoming a racist and from the right. Bryant was viciously faulted on social media for “spending $90 million” for museums when the state has roads and bridges in need of repair.
The backstory, of course, is not consistent with that claim (as often happens with internet experts). The state-owned museums were provided some state money to go with private donations, but the big player was the state credit card. Admission to the separate museums is $8 per person, and while the museums may seek continuing appropriations, the expectation is that bonds will be repaid and the museums will operate on their own revenue.
As for President Trump being a racist, who knows? Seriously. He’s made plenty of insensitive statements, but racism is a matter of the heart — specifically the belief that one group of humans is inherently superior to others.
Think about Trump’s cloistered life. From the day he was born he’s had two to 200 (or 2,000) people whose job is to keep him happy all day every day. He didn’t ask to be born into a life of privilege any more than a person asks to be born into a life of poverty, but is it right to declare all similarly sheltered people to be racist? How about “race-novice,” given that he’s rarely been around anyone not being paid to serve him.
(The same analysis, by the way, attaches to Trump’s propensity to be untruthful. To lie is to be purposely deceptive. In Trump’s case, his belief in himself is his reality.)
OK, what about other reactions?
A clear majority of Mississippians wanted Trump in office, or at least couldn’t abide the notion of a Hillary Clinton presidency. His supporters were vocal about the visit, saying any presidential nod is a plus.
True enough, we’ve rarely been on the radar. Early primaries mean in voters in Iowa, New Hampshire and others get to know candidates on a first-name basis. About all Mississippi gets during campaigns is a photo-op at the airport, if that. Once elected, presidents rarely have occasion to stop in at all.
The classiest responses came from those who said they would not let their disdain of this president detract from the day when Mississippi, at last, started holding a truthful mirror to its face.
Dennis Dahmer, son of murdered voting rights worker Vernon Dahmer, told The Clarion-Ledger he would be there. “I will not let Trump, Bryant or anyone else define the who, what and why of Vernon F. Dahmer Sr. and others’ commitment pertaining to the civil rights movement.”
With all the hoopla, not enough was said or shown about the two new world-class showcases in the downtown area. Perhaps, in days to come, residents and non-residents alike will find their way into the museums and have the type of reflective, immersive history lessons they were artfully designed to teach.
As part of that, they’re likely to find that in the distant past as in the past few days, there was viciousness in Mississippi and, in equal measure, there was graciousness. Like any other people in any other place, we’ve seen statesmanship and heroism and valor and cowardice and brutality and indifference.
The question is, once equipped with this knowledge, what kind of people we choose to be.
By the way, if Jefferson Davis had been invited to provide the eulogy for President Lincoln, history says Davis would have done it — and done it with class. Same if Lincon were around to comment on the passing of Davis.
But that was once upon a time. And once upon a time — before the era of internet potshots — honor and dignity were considered admirable traits.
