🛹 ⏆   : 🛒 ﹢
two weeks have elapsed since your skating accident. the initial days of your recovery were challenging, with open scratches and frequent headaches. however, your girlfriends wouldn't leave your side for a second, tending to your wounds and giving you as many cuddles and kisses as you requested.
you took a week off school after the doctor diagnosed you with a concussion and advised a 1 to 2-week break. despite jackie and shauna urging you to take the full two weeks, you returned during the second week, feeling well enough and not wanting to fall too far behind in your classes. throughout the first week, your girlfriends visited you before school started and after soccer practice, bringing either a milkshake as compensation for the spilled one or take-out food for movie afternoons, considering your restricted physical activity. and of course, jackie kept you well-informed on all the latest gossip circulating around school during your break.
now, nearing a full recovery, a recent check-up with your doctor confirmed the concussion is gone. the only remnants of the accident are a few scratches on your body and a healing but somewhat badass-looking scratch across one side of your face.
despite all that, your girlfriends continue to worry and insist on you taking it easy, maintaining frequent check-ups, a steady supply of take-out food, and lining up more movies to watch. shauna, being the most careful, avoids accidentally scratching the wound when she's around you. sometimes she even refrains from showing affection at all unless you request it, afraid of hurting you in any way. on the other hand, jackie, as playful and touchy as ever, occasionally bumps into the scars while expressing affection, showering you with apologetic kisses after you flinch in pain.
obviously, ever since the accident, you've refrained from mentioning anything related to skateboarding, fearing your girlfriends' potential scolding—especially shauna’s. despite this, you couldn't escape the lingering disappointment about your broken skateboard. you even convinced them to retrieve the pieces from the accident spot, hanging them on your wall as a memento of the third love of your life, which will be dearly missed.
however, your girlfriends didn't need words to understand your feelings; your frown and lingering glances at the broken skateboard spoke volumes. they could tell how much you missed skating, especially as you had to walk home from school every day now, a routine you didn't mind but would rather replace with skating if given the choice.
Tumblr media
it was a thursday evening, and the three of you were in your bedroom, just chilling and listening to music. jackie lay on your bed, one hand flipping through a magazine while the other gently scratched your scalp. you were lying on her stomach, soaking in the background music. meanwhile, shauna lay on her stomach on the floor, engrossed in a book and highlighting passages.
“hey,” jackie said, moving the magazine out of her face. “are you two in the mood to go out? i wanted to swing by sephora to grab some mascara; i just ran out,” she explained, glancing over at you and shauna.
shauna looked up from her book. "sure," she glanced over at you. "are you up for it?"
"are you kidding?" you responded incredulously, a grin spreading across your face. "of course i'd love to go out to the mall after being confined to these four walls for almost two weeks," you declared, rising to your feet. "and school, but that doesn't count because it's practically prison with no bars," you added.
jackie chuckled at the comment. "good, because you need some fresh air," she remarked with a smile as she stood up as well. "besides, you look super sexy with that little battle scar." leaning in, she planted a gentle kiss on your scarred cheek, causing you to blush.
shauna giggled and turned to you. "i agree, you look pretty badass with the scratch," she chimed in. "but i don't know, babe..." she started, "sometimes i enjoy having you locked up in the same bedroom as us," she teased.
“oh, shut up,” you said, a smile growing on your lips as you lightly pushed shauna's shoulder. she responded by kissing your scarred cheek as well, enjoying the prominent blush that spread across your face.
jackie smirked at shauna's teasing comment. "you're so selfish," she chimed in, giving a playful look to shauna before turning back to you. "but i don't disagree either," she said, wrapping her arms around your waist.
"you're both selfish," you mumbled, leaning into jackie's embrace. "now, let's head out. i can't wait to get out of here," you said, eager to break free from the confines of the room.
as you prepared to leave, jackie shook her head with a smile. "fine," she relented, releasing you. "we won't keep you cooped up anymore." shauna opened the door, gesturing for you to lead the way out of the room.
as the three of you left the house, jackie ensured you wore a jacket, despite the warm weather. "don't want you catching a cold now," she insisted, adjusting the collar of your coat.
walking to the car, you and jackie got into the passenger seats while shauna took the driver's seat. once everyone was buckled up, she started the engine and drove away from the curb.
Tumblr media
the mall was crowded with people, the usual busy scene of shoppers looking around, buying things, and chatting. you headed to sephora first, where jackie found the mascara she wanted. since shauna and you didn't usually wear much makeup, except for when jackie experimented with doing your makeup for fun, you both just roamed around the store, sometimes trying on lipstick or looking at beauty products.
the next stop was the food court. you hadn’t eaten since lunch at school, so you were very hungry. shauna and you decided on burgers and fries, whereas jackie opted for a salad. finding a table in the busy food court, you all settled down to enjoy your meals and chat.
jackie, being jackie, started eating all of yours and shauna’s fries instead of getting her own, as usual.
“take one more fry and you’ll regret it,” shauna threatened jackie, clearly annoyed since this happened every time.
jackie grinned mischievously at shauna, her eyes sparkling. "just one more," she pleaded, reaching for another fry.
shauna huffed and shook her head, unable to hide her irritation. "fine, take them," she conceded begrudgingly.
you rolled your eyes, shaking your head at the familiar but petty argument between your girlfriends. "here," you offered, pushing your fries toward jackie, signaling for her to have yours while you took another bite of your burger. "you two are ridiculous," you commented, smiling at their playful banter. "can't believe we've been together for a year already."
jackie smiled, taking the fries with graciousness. "jeez," she concurred, shoving a handful of fries into her mouth. she chewed her food for a few moments before swallowing, letting out a satisfied sigh. "i can't believe how fast time has flown by," she remarked in disbelief.
shauna giggled and raised an eyebrow. "yeah, it feels like just yesterday we started dating," she echoed in agreement, swallowing the last of her burger and sipping on her soda.
as the three of you finished your meals, you stood up, stretching your body. "what's next?” you asked, breaking the silence. “are we heading home already?”
“nope,” jackie said, wrapping her arm around yours, a sheepish smile on her lips as she glanced at shauna. not suspicious at all.
you raised an eyebrow, but jackie turned away, clearly trying to dodge your impending question.
"so, where are we going?" you asked shauna, your mind swirling with possible answers.
"surprise," jackie said before shauna could answer, her grip on your arm growing tighter, causing you to stumble forward a step or two. she giggled, grinning at you, unable to contain her amusement.
"you wanna give me a hint?" you asked, smiling back at them.
"maybe. or maybe not." she giggled again, leading you in a direction you couldn't yet identify, with shauna trailing close behind.
the three of you walked briskly, their excitement palpable.
"do you mind giving me a hint?" you whispered to shauna, ensuring jackie couldn’t overhear, but she remained stubbornly quiet, refusing to reveal any information.
"how about a small hint? just a smidgen?" you pressed, attempting to elicit any clue.
she remained silent, continuing to walk with a mischievous grin. instead, she took your free hand and intertwined your fingers together.
after walking for a couple of minutes, jackie leads you to a familiar skate shop. immediately, your eyes light up, your heart beating faster with excitement. you can't believe this is really happening; it feels like a dream.
shauna follows right beside you, smiling at the sight of your excitement as jackie looks on with an amused grin. as you approach the store, you see a wide variety of skateboards, wheels, and accessories on display inside.
jackie smiles and gestures towards the door. "in we go," she says, her voice bubbling with playful energy.
"go on," shauna urges, nudging you gently, her eyes twinkling with mirth. "see what catches your eye," she says, giving you a cute peck on the temple before letting go of your hand.
you strolled through the store, feeling as light as air. boards of every size, shape, and design captured your attention. running your fingers along the smooth surfaces, you envisioned effortlessly gliding on each one. before long, you found yourself in front of a particular board that drew you in. it was a sleek, fuchsia deck with silver accents—a color combination that appealed to you.
glancing at shauna and jackie, you sought their opinion. they exchanged knowing glances, nodding in approval. "that one's pretty cool," shauna said, her voice brimming with encouragement. jackie nodded, a lively sparkle in her eye. "it definitely suits you."
with a smile, you approached an employee with your deck in hand, asking for help assembling it with your preferred setup. while you did this, jackie and shauna lingered around the store, waiting for it to be finished.
as the employee adjusted your wheels, you noticed a sign on the counter indicating they were printing personalized images that you could stick to your skateboard. an idea sparked in your mind. quickly, you edited a collage on your phone and sent it to the employee, asking him to place it onto the back of your skate atop of the original design but leaving the text at the bottom. you constantly glanced around, making sure your girlfriends weren’t nearby.
after finishing, you thanked the employee and carried your newly assembled board towards shauna and jackie, grinning from ear to ear. you subtly held your skateboard close to you, hiding the custom design from them as you hugged it.
shauna narrowed her eyes at you, recognizing that mischievous look on your face. "what is it?" she asked.
jackie squinted at the board, noting the slight discrepancy. "you got a fancy design printed on it, huh?" she guessed.
"mhm," you said with an innocent smile, "i thought it’d be cool to add a personal touch to it," you chuckled, deciding it was time to reveal your surprise. with precision, you swiftly spun the board around, revealing the montage of awkward photos of them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
shauna and jackie both gasped in surprise, their eyes widening at the sight of the montage. they looked at each other, then back at the board, their faces turning a shade of red as they recognized the photos of themselves, their laughter mixing with mortification. photographs they wished stayed hidden were now immortalized on your skateboard.
"you little—" jackie started, stuttering as she struggled to come up with an insult.
shauna chuckled, shaking her head in disbelief. "you’re an idiot," she said, her cheeks still flushed, but her eyes crinkling with amusement. "but it does look cool," she admitted, reluctantly admiring the design despite herself. jackie nodded in agreement, acknowledging the creativity.
with that, the three of you headed to check out to pay for it. as you put your hand in your back pocket to retrieve your wallet, jackie stopped you mid-reach.
"don't worry about it, baby," she said. "we got it," she added as shauna pulled out her card and proceeded to pay for the board.
"really?" you asked, disbelief evident in your tone, a smile growing on your face.
“really,” jackie confirmed, her eyes twinkling with mischief as she rubbed your back.
shauna nodded in agreement, handing over her card to the cashier. “besides,” she said, turning to look at you with a soft smile, “it’s not every day we get to see you this excited. it’s worth it.”
you felt a warm feeling spread through you at their words. you couldn’t help but grin, feeling incredibly lucky to have them in your life. “thank you so much,” you said sincerely. unable to contain your appreciation, you hugged them tight, and they giggled in response.
"of course, sweetie," shauna replied, putting her arm around your waist as you hugged her, slipping the receipt into her back pocket. "we wanted to do something special for you today," she said.
your cheeks warmed at her words. “i love you,” you said, giving them both a kiss on the lips.
your girlfriends returned the gesture, their hearts melting at your words. although they knew they were loved, hearing it directly from you brought a sense of comfort and joy.
"we love you too," shauna murmured, her voice filled with warmth. jackie echoed her sentiment, her expression mirroring the same love and adoration.
you grabbed your skateboard, and the three of you started making your way toward the parking lot, eager to head home.
excited about your new board, the first thing you did the moment you stepped out of the mall’s entrance and onto the concrete was drop your board and jump on it. however, a strong grip on your arm stopped you, almost causing you to fall.
"hey!" you yelped, stepping off and turning around to see shauna, who had halted you in your tracks.
you sighed, pressing on the tail of your skate with your foot, causing it to pop right up into your hand. then, you glanced toward your girlfriends.
"i knew there was gonna be a catch," you complained, a pout forming on your face as you slouched your shoulders.
shauna rolled her eyes, trying to suppress a soft smile at your adorable expression. "i know you're excited, and i know you're tired of us giving you the same pep talk over and over again, but we really need you to be careful," she said, her voice filled with concern. she didn't want you to get hurt, after all.
jackie chimed in, "we know you don’t want to wear a helmet, so can you at least try wearing knee and elbow pads?" she asked. "you can wear them under your clothes if you're embarrassed," she suggested pragmatically.
you contemplated her suggestion for a moment before nodding. "fiiine," you whined, reluctantly agreeing but willing to compromise.
shauna released the breath she'd been holding, her gaze shifting between you and jackie. “also, we don’t want you skating for two more weeks until we’re sure you’re completely okay from your accident.”
“what?” you asked incredulously. “but the doctor said–"
“yes, yes, we heard the doctor, but we don’t want to take any chances,” shauna interrupted, cutting you off. “two more weeks. that's our final call,” she insisted.
jackie wrapped an arm around your shoulder, giving you a comforting squeeze. "please? we just want to make sure you're fully healed," she added, her voice filled with genuine concern.
realizing arguing wouldn’t change their minds, you relented with a sigh. "okay, fine," you conceded, rolling your eyes playfully. "two more weeks."
they both smiled, satisfaction mixed with relief evident on their faces. "thank you," they chorused, their initial concern melting away slightly. shauna caressed the back of your hair as each of them gave you a sweet kiss.
the three of you walked towards the car, your brand-new skateboard safely tucked under your arm.

THE MORNING AFTER THE LAST
lottie matthews x female reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media
a/n: i used the word 'homosexual' once and every time i see it i giggle a bit, so if it feels out of place for you it felt out of place for me too lmao
summary: you and lottie have always been suspiciously close for best friends. one night at a party, the feelings finally surface. the only thing left to complicate the situation is a plane crash and a possession.
warnings: alcohol, smoking, brief mentions of homophobia, kissing, sexual tension, suggestive themes, possession, minor depictions of violence (like once i think)
word count: 5.6k
(masterlist)
Your head pounded rhythmically, in time with the pulsating music blaring all around you; the consequence of partying in the middle of nowhere with an abundance of alcohol. By some miracle, you and your team had made it to nationals and were due to fly to Seattle the following morning, so naturally, every member of the Yellowjackets could be found here, either drunk or high - in hindsight, it was not the best idea, but you were teenagers, a lame excuse for the fact that you'd get up to some stupid shit.
If you'd had a mind of your own and had refused to succumb to the pressures of high school, you would most likely be at home now, snuggled up in the warm comfort of your own bed, attempting to fall asleep since tomorrow was going to be very busy for you. Without a doubt, as much sleep as possible would have prepared you for the day, even if you were kept awake for a little while due to an overwhelming anxiety and excitement gathering in the pit of your stomach, like butterflies were congregating to flutter around down there.
However, you were currently standing propped up against someone's car. You didn't know whose it was, just that it was oddly parked in the middle of the party, surrounded by towering trees and irresponsible youth. Either way, it provided you with something to lean on, eliminating the need to hold yourself up while you slumped against it - red plastic cup in hand, you occasionally sipped the cheap alcohol, the flavour reminiscent of metal, bitter and sour, burning the back of your throat as you slowly swallowed it until there was nothing left.
Why were you here then? You'd find yourself pondering that question every other moment of the night, each time, your brain would trigger a similar answer and you'd suddenly be fine with the atmosphere again. The social gathering was merely a non-suspicious justification to spend time with Lottie, who was off scrounging for more beer to supply the both of you with. It hadn't been long, a few minutes max, though, you still wished she'd hurry up and come back. You weren't really invested in conversing with any other members of your team, or anyone else here that attended your school for that matter - leaving you awkwardly awaiting Lottie's return.
This didn't automatically mean that you disliked the people you would play the sport with, you did like a large majority of them and they were your closest friends. You weren't a loner, despite your lack of socialising at that moment which suggested otherwise; everyone else seemed to be scattered about, maybe in pairs or threes, moseying around with their own designated companion. You'd even catch glimpses of some of the girls kissing random guys, undoubtedly sparking trouble and unwanted romantic drama. You didn't want to be part of it. Ultimately, you were quite content with reducing yourself to clinging to Lottie's side, as you typically did.
The girl was witty, and cleverly humorous despite the fact that she was more subtle than harsh, never getting in anyone’s face or poking unnecessary fun at an oblivious target. She wasn't mean, bearing no intent to harm or cause trouble. Aside from her stunning looks and adorably gorgeous face, her genuine friendliness, sarcastic nature, and intelligence only ever intensified your infatuation with her. In addition, Lottie was incredible at what she did, her footwork being the cleanest on the team - how could you not admire her?
At times, it frustrated you to no end, considering the world you lived in, people would avoid homosexuals like the plague, meaning you had precisely zero people to talk to about your troubles. You'd attempted to dismiss such feelings for your best friend, however, each instance proved useless.
Creating distance between the pair of you failed miserablely, for starters, the image of you and Lottie Matthews being miles apart caused eyebrows to raise immediately - purposely avoiding her made you feel deflated while it drastically upset her. It was inhumane to do that to someone, especially someone so special to you, therefore, that plan was scrapped within minutes. Besides, you played soccer together for your school, it was only a matter of time before you'd be attached at the hip again.
'Newbie' was not the correct term for you, regarding your experiences with the team, nevertheless, you couldn't help but question your own utility. Although you could never exactly pinpoint why you were valued so much, apparently everyone else thought you were a spectacular asset and essential if they had any hope of winning Nationals. You disagreed.
On the other hand, Lottie acted like she was your personal hype woman, constantly drowning you in praises throughout every second of every game. Those things got under your skin, in the best way possible. It was a miracle that your performance didn't waver when she'd encourage you with such charming words, blushing and fumbling after every compliment.
You watched the brunette make her way toward you, a new batch of murky liquid in her hands, your heart a flutter at the mere sight of her. Lottie stumbled across the bumpy terrain, careful of the mud to prevent a fall, yet, she didn't hesitate to raise an arm excitedly to greet you. You smiled, shyly returning the wave.
"Jesus Christ, what idiot chose here of all places to have a party!" Lottie giggled, slipping the new cup of alcohol into your old, empty one.
"I have no idea, we kinda just show up, no questions asked," Your response was nonchalant, "Oh, thank you, by the way, for the drink," You quickly added on, eager to show your gratitude, even if it was over something minor.
"What?" She stared, wide-eyed, struggling to hear you over the booming beats of whatever shitty song was playing.
"I was just saying thank you for the beer!" Somewhat slurring your words, you began to shout, ensuring that you wouldn't need to repeat yourself again.
"Yeah, of course! It's no problem!"
Neither of you was severely intoxicated, at best it was more of a faint buzz guiding your bodies closer. The proximity gradually narrowed - there was not much hesitation as you were too busy caught up in the pointless, drunken conversation flowing between you and her.
Equally giddy, you became progressively needy, hanging onto every word she spoke, whereas Lottie continuously rambled on about everything and nothing, informing you about insignificant details; a vast grin plastered to her face. Out of all the Yellowjackets, it was obvious that you and Lottie had consumed the most alcohol, the image of you together - fairly isolated from everyone else though still in view of anyone sober enough to care - her free hand lazily played with the ends of your hair and you gazed up at her wearing a toothy grin.
Although it was strange for her to publicly display physical affection for you, the action didn't linger on your mind due to the woozy atmosphere. The man-made peace surrounding you, created by the beer, was soon broken by a few incoherent voices quarrelling suddenly.
"You're a fucking sociopath!"
Lottie, instantly detecting where the commotion was coming from, followed the sound of arguing. You trailed behind her, also eager to see some excitement.
"That was Shauna, right?" You inquired, cracking up at the idea of Shauna of all people getting into it with someone else, she was definitely not the type to start trouble.
"Sounds like her," The taller girl delighted, "Look! There, with Taissa."
You and Lottie merged with the congregation of people intensely monitoring Shauna and Taissa as they bickered back and forth about an incident that had occurred prematurely. Van had evidently been tangled up in the crossfire, the poor girl trying her hardest to separate her agitated teammates. You momentarily realised the situation was because of the gruesome injury inflicted on Allie, having been present when her flesh was ripped off her leg and her kneecap smashed.
"I don't need you to defend me? Last time I checked you were totally fine with the whole 'freeze her out' strategy," Nat, feeling targeted, counted herself into the dispute, "I don't know why you two decided to come over here and just laugh when you were very much involved too?"
Her attention focused on you and Lottie, pointing fingers, exaggerating your amusement that had washed over with concern long before it had been mentioned, and hearing everyone shout at each other conveyed the seriousness of the situation plenty.
"Hey, what? We're not laughing?" Lottie defensively piped up, "I even said that I was unsure about it! How was I supposed to know that Tai would take it that far!"
Natalie shook her head, unimpressed with Lottie, instead, aggressively addressing you now. You hadn't spoken a single word, yet, the terror that shot through your veins was indescribable.
"What's your excuse? Apart from the fact that you go along with anything Lottie does," The blonde condescended.
"Fuck off Natalie, I didn't do anything. I didn't bust her leg and ruin her chances at playing sport," You quipped back at the unwanted blame, humiliated at whatever she was trying to hint at concerning Lottie.
"Bull. Shit."
Many negligible disagreements erupted violently inside the once collective dispute, drawing attention to you and your group. The volume was out of control, girls verbally attacking one another over nothing, arguing for argument's sake.
Due to the commotion, you started to attract bystanders, which in turn, alerted a very annoyed Jackie. She stopped what she was doing and promptly stomped over, disappointed and desperate to defuse the situation. Stern words from the girl with honey-coloured hair swiftly lead the fighting members of the Yellowjackets into a clearing, isolated from the party's intense atmosphere.
You suppressed a groan at the suggested team-bonding activity, not particularly thrilled to forcibly compliment them at Jackie's request. Originally mimicking a military lineup, everyone disassembled from the formation and awkwardly approached each other, mumbling positive affirmations.
You were fortunate enough to be right next to Lottie, the taller girl swivelling around to meet your smaller self. She was without a drink, likely thrown it away before arriving at the new destination - in its place was a freshly lit cigarette. The crisp air dancing across your bodies sobered you up a bit, although not completely, you still felt more capable of thinking straight.
There were millions of compliments you could've shower the beautiful brunette with, deciding what to actually say was a challenge. Taking drags of the cigarette and blowing the smoke in your general direction, because Lottie knew how it would make you blush, she peered down at you expectedly, awaiting an answer. Alternatively, she could've just taken the lead but didn't, for reasons you couldn't figure out.
"Jackie seriously couldn't think of anything better to fix our problems," You offered, seriously unsure about what to say to her. Lottie certainly wasn't going to let it go, yet the issue of accidentally being too forward and implying your romantic feelings for her was a looming threat that held you back.
"What is it, not got anything nice to say to me?" She mused, smirking.
"I admire your commitment to sport and…" You cut yourself off.
"And what?"
A strangled chuckle left your tightening throat, leaving Lottie amused.
"I don't know, well, I was gonna say something like…you're a really great friend to me."
For a millisecond, you considered coming out with the truth and telling her how pretty she was. Ultimately, you fumbled and quickly covered it up, though you couldn't shake the feeling that Lottie knew how awfully you were lying.
"Sure, you're a good friend to me too," she mocked, playfully jabbing her finger into your shoulder before returning the cigarette to her lips.
This your eyes followed, trailing up until you inevitably met hers. You didn't know if it was because you'd gained confidence after the alcohol you'd had throughout the evening, or if you had internally decided to be more bold - forward with her - but you didn't want to look away. You couldn't look away.
You noticed as Lottie's face changed from playful, to something more gentle, yet serious, like she had been suddenly whisked away in the same trance that had lured you into a daze. The ever-present background noise of the girls laughing and joking with each other danced happily around your ears, your subconscious pleased to hear your teammates having fun again. Though, you felt isolated from them, too focused on Lottie's plump lips and how they would part slightly, ready to say something, but freighted to do it.
Her tanned skin glistened under the shine of the moon, creating something other-worldly out of someone who was already beyond ravishing. The distance between you shortened with each second, Lottie's hands were itching to reach out and pull you closer - you craved it.
"Me and Shauna are gonna start heading back, get home safe!"
The lust-filled atmosphere concealing you and her from the rest of the world crumbled, the interruption from Jackie announcing her and Shauna's exit brutally snapped the pair of you back into reality. There were a few awkward glances shared while you casually backed off from her. Nothing really happened; the fear of rejection crept in nonetheless, wondering if you'd overstepped her boundaries.
Jackie and Shauana disappeared into a clearing, prompting many of the other girls to disperse and start to make their own way home.
"Are we leaving too?" You shyly asked, the tension from moments ago playing on your mind.
Lottie paused, considering her options thoroughly. She scanned the surrounding area, her face radiating an internal conflict so severe she couldn't have just been deciding whether she wanted to return home or stick around for a little longer.
“No. We’re staying.”
Her voice was fierce, a dangerous fire blazing in her eyes as she snatched your wrist and dragged you further within the trees, the taller girl guiding you to an unknown destination. You didn't complain nor protest. It was completely in the norm for her to do whatever she pleased with you trailing not too far behind. One could even say, you were totally whipped. She had your entire trust.
"Where are we going, Lottie?" You laughed nervously - that curious, giddy feeling back again.
"Away from everyone…just the two of us."
You couldn't determine her tone and you couldn't see her face. A silent blush tinted your cheeks. Was she messing with you? Was she purposely sounding so seductive? Did she know how hard your aching heart was pounding frantically against your chest?
The brunette came to a halt and you followed suit. Lottie finally spun around, meeting you face-to-face, her eyebrows were furrowed and her breath against your skin was unsteady, but it didn't stop her from grabbing your jaw and sloppily locking her lips with yours.
Tingles and hot flushes spread across your body due to the very sensation that was her mouth pressing bruisingly into your own. Any whimpers or whines you let slip as you reciprocated the passion she was gifting you, were shushed, Lottie taking the quickest of breaks from being attached to your lips to remind you to keep quiet made your insides melt - having the opposite effect, instead encouraging you to get more impatient.
She forcefully guided you backward until the rough bark of a tree was up against you, your hands clutched to her waist and your nails dug deeper because of this, earning a pleasured groan from the one who was basically on top of you. You could taste the liquor from earlier on her, she could taste it on you too. It didn't stop either of you from wildly exploring each other's mouths.
Desperate to somehow be even closer to you, Lottie's weight smothered you, her height compared to yours left you with no chance of gaining control, but that wasn't an issue at all. Unintentionally, she lifted a leg for reasons only justifiable because of the positions you were in and the circumstances of a limited area, causing her knee to press into a certain spot between your shaking thighs. A moan slipped from your throat, louder than expected.
"Oh, my," Lottie chortled, taking a step back, "Did you like that?"
"Shut up and keep kissing me…please."
She obliged, buzzing with delight, the kisses slower at first, filled with love, the pace gradually picking up until you found yourselves similarly to where you were before: heated, messy, and running out of air.
-
The weight from your foot cautiously stepping up the rickety rungs of the old ladder made quite a racket, the wood rotting, similarly to the entire foundation of the cabin. It was a surprise that the structure was even suitable to live inside. Your designated pillow and blanket were slung over your arm, consequently, you struggled to make it to the top - climbing a ladder one-handed was not on your bingo card for this summer. Then again, neither was surviving a plane crash and having to live in Canada's brutal wilderness for an insufferable amount of time.
"What are you doing?" Taissa, who must have heard your endeavour, leaned over the entrance of the attic, "Here, I've got you."
The athlete assisted you with ease, collecting your belongings for you and placing them to the side so they would no longer be an inconvenience.
"Thank you, Tai," You nodded, briskly moving to set out a place to sleep, busying yourself in an attempt to avoid any questions you knew were about to come your way.
"Why are you up here?"
"I just thought I'd support my friend, prove to everyone that there's nothing to be scared of and that the cabin isn't haunted…" You lied confidently.
"Right…If you were so sure, why did it take you this long to join me up here? I mean, I would appreciate it more if you displayed your so-called unity ten minutes ago? When I proposed the idea and got no response? You tryna make me look stupid?" Taissa quipped, mostly light-hearted, but you knew that she wasn't buying it - she was more bothered about getting the truth out of you than wasting time being annoyed.
You brushed it off with a laugh, kneeling down to fluff up your pillow and adjust the extremely thin blanket-crafted mattress. You relaxed yourself against it, now snuggled up on the floor. Taissa copied this, bringing herself to get comfortable next to you.
"So are you going to tell me the actual reason why you chose to come sleep in this creepy attic?" She was relentless, never shutting up unless your response was satisfactory. "Shouldn't you be down there, with Lottie?"
"What? What's that supposed to mean?" You choked, disappointed that she'd guessed part of your problem this early on.
"Oh c'mon, don't be like that, I'm only pointing out that it's unusual for you to be this far away from her. You and Lottie, not up each other's asses? That's unheard of," She smirked.
"Okay, shouldn't you be down there with Van, then?" You mimicked the suggestive question, turning the suspicious homoerotic friendship allegations onto her this time.
Taissa let out a sigh. Not because of you or anything that you'd said, rather, she missed her secret lover after mere minutes of separation.
"Van's too freaked out, she wanted to stay with the others," She spoke, deflated, the cheeky way of her words had disappeared, the reality of what you'd seen at the seance front and centre in her mind.
"I'm terrified," You bluntly admitted, "I'm way too scared to be near her and I know how selfish it sounds but I can't do it. Lottie…she, well, she was fucking possessed!"
After the party, you and her never spoke about the kiss. Things carried on between you as they normally would, thankfully, yet the memories of that night corrupted your every thought. You assumed that the plethora of alcohol you shared caused her to forget, which was still strange since you remembered it perfectly, but ignored it anyway. If she genuinely had no memory of it, that would probably be for the best; you'd hate to ruin your already-established friendship.
However, over the past week subsequent to the crash, there was a minor difference in her that made it so the pair of you were somehow closer than before, this including physical closeness to one another. Hence, you were under the impression that she simply refused to mention the kiss due to reasons unknown. Possibly some variation of fear.
Then, as her way of 'pulling her weight' to help the group adapt to their new life, Jackie cooks up an amazing idea to host a seance that, in turn, offers Lottie up to any available demons, her body becoming a vessel for the supernatural.
It was horrifying. The delicate flicker of the candles had blown themselves out, ripping away any source of light; the room was filled with disorientated screams and panicked suggestions to make Lottie stop chanting - your 'sort-of girlfriend' had been repeating something demonic in French, successfully freaking everyone the fuck out. Vague translations had left the group mostly in the dark about what was happening, the only parts that were figured out included the spillage of blood and the demands of an unnatural being.
The shock that struck you then stayed with you now, the thought of sleeping next to her was unbearable, thus explaining why you relocated to the attic to be with Taissa.
"It's okay to be scared, you know that, right?" She offered, trying to smile.
"I feel horrible though. I can't believe I just left her because I'm too much of a coward to face an issue that wasn't even her fault!" You fussed, grumbling into your hands to hide your face and the tears that were forming in your eyes.
"Hey, it's not your fault either. I'm sure Lottie will understand if you spend one night away from her, with good reason might I add," A friendly chuckle strived to cheer you up, Tai shuffled up to you in case you needed to borrow her shoulder.
"We kissed."
You don't know why you told her, you were planning on keeping it a secret, locking it away forever like the situation never even existed in the first place and was just another daydream, about your best friend, that nobody would ever know about.
The girl beside you took in a shocked breath, "Shit…I kinda guessed that you weirdos liked each other a bit too much but oh my god I wasn't expecting that."
"We've both been acting like nothing happened that night. Then this had to happen and make everything more complicated." You explained, slightly calmer than you had been a few moments ago.
"Try not to worry about it. Get some rest, clear your mind, and talk to her about it tomorrow, okay?
The suggestion had you nodding in agreement, what else could you really do at that point in time? You were in great need of an undisturbed rest and if you had to move away from the possessed culprit to do that then it was in your right to do so. You concluded that at the first chance you got throughout the busy, chore-filled day, you would go off and find Lottie. The idea made you anxious, nauseous even, but you couldn't avoid her and 'it' forever.
When you finally awoke the next morning, the sun was beaming through the window, golden rays shining down on your face and painfully in your eyes - you rolled over to avoid it, only to discover that Taissa was already gone.
It must've been later than usual since nobody besides Coach Scott could be found inside the cabin, everyone else had vacated it to carry out tasks, individually pitching in, which you were falling behind on due to the late start.
You recalled Shauna asking you to assist her with something, probably revolving meat rations. You weren't sure why she chose you of all people to help her with that stuff, but you supposed it was because you originally showed some willingness and then suddenly, you're dragged into it every time.
Luckily, you spotted her immediately, stood around with Jackie, seemingly waiting for you.
Apologies for unintentionally lying in came tumbling out of you, explaining how Taissa kindly forgot to wake you up. This earned you a hearty chuckle from Shauna who reassured you that it was okay, and that she knew you'd take a little longer as Tai had taken it upon herself to inform the group that you needed the extra rest. Feeling partially relieved, you followed Shauna into the forestry areas to the shed where the dead animals were kept - you didn't fail to notice Lottie's absence.
As instructed, you thinly sliced the portions of raw meat for rationing; the blade smoothly cut through. It wouldn't be long until you'd run out of food again, the one deer unfortunately wasn't enough to sustain the group forever, hence, you'd rather not worry about it, the hunters were out doing all they could and you had to put some faith in them.
Your mind drifted to Lottie, not a great decision since thinking about her was very distracting and you were wielding an extremely sharp knife - to accidentally slash your fingers while concentrating on her would be an amusing story for everyone else, not so funny for you however.
"Are you nearly finished?" Shauna checked up on your progress, peeking over your shoulder.
"Pretty much, yeah," You murmured, preoccupied, "Hey, have you seen Lottie this morning? I'm just curious since she wasn't around the cabin."
"Yeah I saw her, it wasn't for long," She recalled, "Laura Lee took her to the lake. You know, after the seance and everything…she's been acting really weird."
Having finished your task, you placed the knife down and rested your palms against the rigid table, then said, "I don't know how I'm realising it now but, something has been wrong with her for a fair few days. We haven't brought any attention to it, is all.
With a dirtied rag, Shauna wiped the blood off her hands and urged you to do the same.
"Maybe keep an eye on her if it makes you feel better. I think we've all been acting reasonably different." She replied, wanting to keep the hopes high, this you appreciated, giving her a small nod as she gathered up the meat and took it away to be stored.
You sighed deeply and shut your eyes tight, focusing on nothing, ensuring that your head was clear. The heat alone, out there in the wild, made you feel exhausted.
Stretching your back, you heard a faint rustle from no more than a metre or two away. Expertly scanning the surrounding area, you were ready to snatch the weapon up from the table and call for backup. If you were lucky, this could've been your next meal. Your mouth almost watered at the many possibilities of which animal would come into your vicinity without a single clue in the world of what their fate would be. The low grumble in your stomach grew.
Emerging from the trees, you quickly learnt that it wasn't an animal at all, it was Lottie; her hair had been wet but was gradually drying, some of the strands still clinging to her face, and the t-shirt she was wearing had a few damp patches splattered about.
Abruptly feeling awkward, you met her eyes sheepishly, waiting patiently for her to break the silence.
"Is now a bad time?" She carefully questioned you, her hands joined together in a  nervous clump.
"Not at all," You uttered, feigning confidence when you were actually as equally anxious as she was.
"Can we talk?"
You had no objections, having been patient all day, awaiting an opportunity to set things straight with Lottie. Trailing behind her into the woods, you thought back to the party, the way she was leading you to a secluded area so the pair of you could be isolated, it was a direct parallel to that night that seemed a lifetime ago, the night where you had hopes that your relationship might have progressed.
"Is everything okay, Lot?" You gently asked.
"Where were you last night?" The taller girl decided you'd walked far enough and that this spot behind the cabin was suitable to converse, thus she stopped, "I woke up and you weren't there."
"I went to the attic."
"Why?"
There was no use in lying, it wouldn't benefit neither you nor Lottie, the excuse that you went up there for Tai, that you failed in convincing her, wouldn't make much sense anyway because the brunette had slept through the proposal. Plus, you just wanted to be honest. That's why you agreed to this in the first place.
"I was scared of what happened to you," You admitted, the anxiety you felt after seeing her possessed came flooding back, distressing you all over again.
Lottie paused, conjuring the perfect response. She didn't say anything - a small, understanding, but sad, nod was the best she could do. A harsh pang of guilt struck your lower body.
"I'm sorry, leaving you like that was probably wrong and I shouldn't have done it, I didn't mean to upset you, Lot. I'm really sorry," You apologised sincerely, "I'm not freaked out anymore, maybe a bit on edge still but, you're better now, right?"
You wondered if you sounded too whiny, your intention was to ensure that your best friend was okay, nothing else.
Her big brown eyes swirled with confusion, she couldn't even tell herself if she had returned back to normal, her voice brimming with anxiety, she whispered, "Do you hate me for what happened?"
"What, no! Of course not, I promise I don't hate you," You explained in a panic, absolutely heartbroken that you'd caused her to say such ridiculous things.
"I don't just mean that," Lottie slowly spoke, testing the waters as she was concerned about approaching the upcoming admission, "The party too, we never talked about it."
To say you were astonished was an understatement. Lottie, someone who you thought had completely forgotten about the kiss, openly acknowledged the fact that it definitely happened.
"I didn't say anything because I didn't think that you remembered, or that you chose to ignore it. I could never hate you, especially because of something like that. It was amazing!" You exclaimed, red tinting your cheeks, joy spreading across your face.
This same cheer infected Lottie, her frown lifting into a beautiful, more confident grin.
"Yeah, it was good," She agreed, blushing furiously.
Although she appeared happier, the furrow of her brow indicated that she remained slightly apprehensive, prompting you to inquire, "What is it, Lot?"
"There's another problem, I think I've been seeing stuff and I don't know if it's real or not." The brunette troubled, shuffling around.
"Like hallucinations? Visions?"
"Visions. I went to the lake earlier, with Laura Lee, and she dunked me under the water - and I ended up in a candle-lit room and then I saw an explosion and… I don't know what's happening to me," She rambled on, her eyes pricking with tears.
You reached out to her, firmly rubbing her shoulder for comfort, "You can talk to me about anything, I'm here for you."
"So, you'll believe me? Laura Lee does, but the others are cautious. You're the one that I need." Lottie's expression was solemn, entirely serious about the discussion you were having; her vulnerable side shining through.
"I believe you and I trust you. I care about you so much, you know?"
 Your attention was brought to the blossoming pink patches covering her face due to your honesty, the taller girl experiencing an overwhelming mixture of emotions, she launched herself into your open arms. You hugged her back, tightly, letting go wasn't something that you'd be doing anytime soon, the height difference when you'd have such drawn-out, warm embraces always succeeded in making you laugh.
After an undetermined amount of time, you both instinctively pulled away simultaneously. You gazed up at her, body language oozing with love while you brushed her dark strands of hair out of her face. Lottie's tanned hand cupped your cheek, you could see that she was feeling the warmth radiating off of it, yet, it didn't humiliate you, it felt freeing.
You leaned in close, pecking her soft lips once, then going back in for a second short, though, sickly sweet kiss. Lottie began to giggle - the melodic noise identical to the one you would hear in the Yellowjackets locker room after a long, tiring game, or when you and her exclusivity went around invested in your own dumb shenanigans. It had been a while since you'd heard it, your heart beating faster as a result.
Her palm traced your skin until she arrived at your chin, tilting it upwards, accessing your mouth easier as she towered over you - this kiss was not a short peck. It wasn't a sloppy, heated mess either, rather, it was slow and filled to the brim with affection.
"So are we like a thing then?" Lottie beamed, remaining incredibly close to you with an indescribable bliss.
"If you want things to be official, then I do too," You marvelled, mirroring her wide, toothy grin.
You continued to pepper kissing all over each other's faces, showering your counterparts in affection. From there, things were appearing more positive; your hopes were high for the future.

🦌- yikes.
summary: you help lottie bake cookies!
warnings: nothing!!!! its fluffy 💞 lottie sucks at baking but you’re somewhat good at it :p
603 words
if this makes no sense i’m sorry 😭
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
lottie paced around the kitchen, flour all over her fingers and spread around her face. she had been trying to make these stupid cookies for your guys’ anniversary. how romantic.
unfortunately, she sucked. she sucked at everything involving a grill, an oven, and even a damn microwave. her maids and butlers did everything for her and whenever she tried, she would end up burning something in the process.
there were cracked eggshells on the ground, a bit of the egg white residue, spilled milk on the counter, and sugar scattered like ant hills on the table. “oh, come on!!” she blurts out when another one of the eggs roll off of the counter. it cracks and she lets out an exaggerated whine, drawing your attention over.
the sight is… overwhelming. your kitchen is a total mess and so is your girlfriend. she has bits of flour in between strands of her hair and its all over her face. she rubs at the back of her neck and looks at you with those eyes you can’t help but stare at forever. “yikes…”
“i can’t bake these fucking cookies! look at them!” lottie grumbles. your eyes dart to the baking sheet on the table and the shape of her extremely pathetic attempt of heart shaped cookies. they had turned out into little blobs, the edges burnt, and the chocolate chips somewhat being the only thing edible on those things. “i mean, at least you… tried?” you say and shake your head a little when the pout on lottie’s face starts to show a bit more. “here let me help you out.”
you grab the tray full of obviously inedible cookies and toss the rest into the trash. the thumps make her face contort into one of embarrassment. she felt bad for even trying to make something for you, even when she knew she couldn’t do it. “this is horrible. i hate that i can’t do anything nice for you.” she murmurs. her voice chokes up a bit and you turn your head around to look at her. “hey, don’t be like that. it’s fine. we can always try again.” you reassure.
ignoring the horrible mess in the kitchen, you grab a new bowl and gently wrap your arms around lottie’s waist. “let’s do this instead…” your hands grab hers, helping her reach out for the bag of flour and the jar of sugar. you guide her fingers and add just the right amount of everything into the bowl. she complies of course and just stands there, letting you move her hands around so she can learn. “there shouldn’t be so many eggs, okay? you don’t need 10 for just a dozen cookies.”
she just nods and keeps her mouth shut. she doesn’t wanna talk and embarrass herself by saying something completely stupid. she knows you’re good at baking and she isn’t. so, you’re willing to help. she’s your girlfriend after all. doing something together that’ll end up good in the end is always the best, especially with someone like lottie.
everything goes by quickly. the eggs, butter, brown sugar, regular sugar, milk, pinches of salt, and chocolate chips were already all in the bowl. “see! not so hard, am i right?” you smile brightly and turn lottie around to face you. her back is pressed up against the counter and she cups your face gently, pressing her lips up against yours. “thank you.” she murmurs in between the quick kiss and pulls away, humming softly. she doesn’t seem so grouchy about the cookies she made before and she’s grateful.
“lets shape these damn things now.”

when jackie was a freshmen in university…
📞
“morning, dingleberry,” she said playfully over the phone. “no, i’m gonna kick your ass,” she replied as she walked around her room, getting ready for the day. “yeah, well… put your bra and panties on,” she chuckled, “okay… i’ll be there in 10.”
she spent every day with her best friend, y/n.
she got into her car, inserted an INXS cassette into the music player, and drove off towards your house with "mystify" playing in the background. she had finally gotten her license, after shauna had taught her how to drive for weeks. jackie was more of a passenger princess, but how could she pick you up from school every morning if she couldn't drive? she had no other choice.
the moment she arrived at your house, you were already outside, sprinting towards her and leaping into the passenger seat of her roofless white jeep, not even bothering to open the car door. you playfully poked her side to greet her as she began driving.
the whistle blew, signaling the start of practice.
"let's go! work it! work it!" coach martinez yelled from the sideline as he watched you and your teammates engage in some tic-tac-toe warm-ups.
"come on, girls! let's go! work hard!" exclaimed coach ben right after, ensuring that all of you were giving your best effort.
immediately after completing the warm-up, coach ben had you engage in a 7v7 scrimmage to focus on team play. jackie and you exchanged quick glances and smiles with your boyfriends, jeff and randy, respectively, who were sitting on the benches, eagerly watching you play while waiting for their own football practice to begin.
"you motherfucker!" taissa taunted with a mischievous grin as you swiftly stole the ball from her.
"let's go, y/n!" you heard lottie scream as you charged towards the net with all your strength, striking the ball and successfully scoring a goal. the match concluded with three long whistles, signifying the end, and your team emerged victorious.
"good work, l/n," jackie said with a big grin as she approached you, wearily resting her arm around your shoulders, while you grabbed it with your hand and interlocked your fingers, walking back into the locker room together. both of you waving goodbye to jeff and randy from afar.
both of you quickly and quietly showered, standing side by side, before heading back towards the locker area wearing only your bras and panties to change. with your towel draped over your right shoulder, you exchanged nods and smiles with your teammates who were scattered around, also preparing to leave.
upon reaching your locker, you found yourself unintentionally fixated on jackie's breasts. her push-up bra perfectly accentuated and lifted them as she bent down to put on a pair of jean shorts. unbeknownst to you, her eyes met your lingering gaze, leaving you flustered, yet you didn't break eye contact.
"you wanna get a milkshake?" she asked casually as she buttoned up her shorts, snapping you out of your daze. you turned to retrieve your clothes from your tightly-packed bag, which was snugly stowed inside your locker.
🥤
the best part about your relationship with jackie, was that you could talk for hours about sports, boys, life, whatever—it didn't matter.
"you know what the color of your milkshake reminds me of?" jackie asked with a grin, taking a sip of her strawberry milkshake.
you raised your eyebrows, indicating for her to continue speaking, as you were too preoccupied enjoying the whipped cream of your own milkshake, using your straw as a makeshift spoon.
"it reminds me of alyssa bender's vomit," jackie continued, "when she drank rum and gummy bears at the freshmen homecoming and threw up during 'pump up the jam,' and then—"
"randy slipped," both of you said simultaneously, bursting into laughter. "but ew! why would you bring that up while we're eating?" you complained, making a disgusted face as you playfully nudged her side, suddenly finding your once delicious milkshake less appetizing.
or you could just sit in silence, you were that close... that comfortable.
and it was in those quiet moments that, just as you found yourself captivated by jackie's breasts in the locker room earlier that day, she would subtly direct her gaze towards you as well. she would steal lingering glances at you while driving the both of you back to her house, often catching herself staring at your soft legs when the traffic lights turned red, admiring how good they looked in those tight shorts you always wore. she would gulp softly, redirecting her gaze back to the road to compose herself, but her eyes would always find their way back to you, as if drawn together by some magnetic force. she noticed the way you gently massaged your upper thigh, trying to relieve the soreness from the earlier workout, and how—
"you can go," you interrupted her thoughts.
"what?" she asked confused, meeting your gaze. in response, you tilted your head towards the green light, licking your lip with a smirk.
"oh," she replied sheepishly, quickly shifting her hand to the gear stick and continuing the drive.
💌 — — flashback.
jackie met jeff in her senior year of highschool.
he was way more forward than any boy she had met before, constantly wanting to get in her pants. and yeah—sometimes while he was driving her around, she'd let him slid his hand up her thigh a little more than he should. and even though she wasn't always comfortable, she was grateful that he was pushing her boundaries.
"oh, fuck—" a moan of pleasure escaped her lips as jeff inserted two fingers into her, stroking her spot to perfection.
she couldn't wait to tell you.
Tumblr media
"and then he unbuttoned my jeans, and, like, just went for it," she explained excitedly. the two of you were lying side by side on her bed, both facing downwards.
"wow..." you said, intrigued. "was it good?" you asked curiously.
"i mean, yeah," she replied with a chuckle.
"and, like… could he, like, i mean, uh, did he, like, uh, make you cum?" you asked amused, filled with curiosity.
“yeah,” she responded, laughing.
“oh, nice,” you replied, joining in her laughter.
"he cleaned me up and everything," jackie said with a grin.
"wow..." you replied, taken aback. "so, i mean, he's a keeper?" you asked her, raising your eyebrows as you glanced at her.
"ah... yeah, yeah, yeah," she replied, as if trying to reassure herself. "i guess so."
both of you locked eyes for a few moments until jackie's dad abruptly swung open the door without even knocking. he stood there, gripping the doorknob with a serious expression, silently observing both of you before speaking up.
"y/n, hit the road," he commanded, pointing towards the hallway.
"uh, yeah," you responded awkwardly, giving jackie a gentle rub on the shoulder as you stood up. "i'll see you at practice," you said nonchalantly.
"yep," jackie replied, giving you a small wave without lifting her gaze to meet yours.
"have a good night, mr. taylor," you said as you uncomfortably exited jackie's room, feeling her dad's gaze fixed on you with a deadpan expression.
a few seconds after you left the room, he began to speak to jackie.
"get up," he commanded her.
"i will," she responded, maintaining her position on the bed while staring at him.
"right now," he warned.
"i don't feel well," she said, continuing to stare at him as she started fidgeting with her hands.
"you were fine when i walked in," he shot back.
jackie remained silent, locking her gaze with his until he finished speaking. she lowered her eyes afterwards.
"dinner's on the table," he announced before walking out of her room, keeping his gaze fixed on her until he left completely, leaving the door open.
jackie furrowed her brows, lowering her face and resting it against her interlocked hands, letting out a heavy sigh. "oh, fuck," she whispered, her voice filled with frustration, as she rubbed her forehead in a stressed manner.
a few minutes later, she got up from her bed and made her way downstairs, heading towards the dinner table. she took a seat right in front of her parents and began eating.
silence enveloped the room, with the clattering of cutlery echoing against the walls. eventually, jackie broke the silence.
"so," she started, capturing everyone's attention as they turned to look at her. "i met a boy…"
and so did you.
Tumblr media
jackie swung her front door open, welcoming both randy and you with a big smile, both of you arriving with beers in hand.
"hey! come on in!" jackie exclaimed.
randy greeted her and swiftly made his way inside, heading straight towards jeff and exchanging greetings. meanwhile, you lingered at the front door and enveloped jackie in a tight hug.
the music blared through the speakers, filling the empty house as the four of you drank and enjoyed each other's company. it didn't take long for the atmosphere to become more heated, and without hesitation, the four of you shamelessly began making out. randy and jeff sat on adjacent living room sofa chairs, while you and jackie found yourselves sitting on their laps, passionately kissing your respective partners. in your intoxicated state, the strangeness of the situation didn't cross your minds at all. unbeknownst to the boys, jackie and you exchanged lingering glances while making out with them, occasionally making eye contact or stealing glances while randy kissed your neck and jeff was engrossed in kissing jackie—and viceversa.
"i just got a brainstorm," jackie exclaimed, abruptly standing up from jeff's lap and swiftly removing her shorts and top.
"what are you doin'?" you asked curiously, pausing your make-out session with randy.
"oh my god, jackie," jeff chuckled, clearly amused, as he looked at his girlfriend standing there in nothing but her underwear.
"let's go for a swim," she declared, dashing out of the living room and excitedly making her way through the sliding glass door, heading towards her pool with a beer in hand.
"yeah! let's do it!" randy exclaimed from beneath you, swiftly removing his shirt as you began to disentangle yourself from him.
"should we do it?" you asked hesitantly, sporting a sheepish smirk.
"come on! come on!" randy urged, standing in just his boxers. he ran out behind jeff, who was already heading out completely naked—yes, completely naked. i mean, he's jeff. what else could we expect from him?
by the time all of you made it outside, jackie was already swimming in the pool. jeff took the lead, running and performing a bomb dive into the water as he laughed. randy and you followed suit, jumping in right after.
the next hour was filled with playful splashing, laughter echoing around as you played chicken fights and engaged in water-based games. but as exhaustion set in, both randy and you decided to get out of the pool. you settled onto the patio sling chairs next to a cozy bonfire, lighting up cigarettes and covering yourselves with some towels to keep you warm.
meanwhile, jackie and jeff sprinted straight into jackie's room, their minds set on their own private plans.
"have fun, big boy," randy teased, following them with the eyes.
"have fun, guys," you chimed in at the same time.
Tumblr media
jackie and jeff kissed fervently, she was straddling him as they both kissed and touched each other. it was the first time for them both, so their movements were clumsy but passionate. she wasn't wet enough, though, so she proceeded to spit onto her hand and started rubbing jeff’s cock with it for lubrication.
"jackie, what are you doing?" jeff asked in confusion. all he received in response was jackie beginning to slid his cock inside of her.
"hold... hold on," he moaned as he felt jackie's walls tightening around his girth, his eyebrows knitting together in pleasure.
"oh, fuck," he grunted as he came inside her within seconds. "oh, i'm so sorry..." he said, embarrassed. jackie couldn't help but laugh. she leaned down and gave him gentle pecks on his face as they both joined in laughter.
and just like that... it became a regular thing.
they would fuck everywhere—yeah, everywhere. the bathroom, their cars, the shower. and jackie would tell him what felt good, until eventually, he got better at it.
the same went for you and randy.
"holy fuck!" you moaned out as you came all over randy's face, your breathing unsteady.
"you like it that much?" he asked, a cocky grin on his face.
"i do," you admitted tiredly, a smirk on your face.
"mind if i do it again?" he asked, teasingly rubbing your thighs.
"please do," you replied eagerly, and he wasted no time diving back in, eliciting moans from you once more.
and you did like it that much. in fact, it was all you could think about.
🥅
"really?" jackie asked, making a grimace in response to your words as she packed her regular clothes into her gym bag and zipped it up.
"i love it," you admitted, a silly smile spreading across your face as you leaned against your locker.
"yeah, i don't know," she began, "i like men, but... you couldn't pay me to let jeff eat me out," she asserted with a deadpan expression, walking past you with her bag slung over her shoulder as she headed towards the field.
once again, the two boys sat on the benches, eagerly awaiting the arrival of jackie and you to the field. they were ready to watch you train before their own football practice commenced. however, this time, unlike before, jackie didn't share a smile. instead, she gazed at randy's joyful face with a cold expression, causing him to narrow his eyes in confusion.
a whistle reverberated through the air, signaling the beginning of practice. from the moment it started, jackie displayed an unusually aggressive demeanor. she maintained her deadpan expression, relentlessly chasing after the ball, stealing it from others, and subtly pushing her opponents—not enough to annoy your teammates, but enough for all of you to take notice of her sudden change.
towards the end of the 7v7 scrimmage, she managed to score the winning goal, securing victory for her team against yours. however, just as she was about to score, you attempted to intercept the ball by placing your feet in her path, which ultimately resulted in both of you tripping. as the ball flew into the net, jackie fell on top of you.
"i win, pussy. i win," she whispered aggressively over your breathless form before standing up and heading towards the locker room.
you remained there for a few moments, catching your breath, thoroughly amused by jackie's transformed demeanor. yet, for some reason, you couldn't help but let a smirk spread across your face as you watched her walk away.
🏆
loud cheers and screams echoed throughout the school's parking lot, celebrating the victory of your soccer team at nationals, held right at your own university. jackie repeatedly honked the car horn as you stood up, feeling the wind rushing past in the open-roofed vehicle. with exuberance, you exclaimed, "we won, motherfuckers!" while playfully extending your middle finger towards your cheering teammates, who waved back at both of you as you drove away.
summer had just started, and jackie had planned to return to the same university, while you had made the decision to transfer out of the country once the summer came to an end.
Tumblr media
you quickly leaped out of your first-floor window and cautiously made your way through the yard, trying not to disturb your sleeping parents who were likely stirred by the loud barking of the neighbor's dog, which had caught sight of your departure.
jackie insisted you go celebrate… just the two of you.
as you hopped into her car in your customary fashion, you began speaking. "alright, i know a place that will serve us. van told me about it," you informed her, settling into the seat as she started the car. "just go up 27," you instructed, and she began driving.
as jackie sped down the freeway, the sound of lenny kravitz's "it ain't over til it's over" filled the car. suddenly, raindrops started falling against your skin, rapidly intensifying into a heavy downpour.
"woo!" you exclaimed with a beaming smile, raising your hands in the air. both of you burst into laughter, stealing cute glances at each other, unable to contain the joy on your faces. completely drenched, you embraced the rain, knowing you still had a few minutes to go before reaching your destination.
large red neon letters spelling "beer pool dancing" came into view, signaling your arrival at the desired spot. jackie swiftly parked the car, and you both quickly scrambled out, running as fast as you could to seek shelter inside the bar.
"fuckin' shit," you mumbled under your breath as you entered the bar, turning back to look at jackie, who was shaking off the wetness from her hands. you hugged yourself, trying to ward off the cold that had settled in.
jackie glanced around the bar with a puzzled expression, busying herself with the napkins you handed her as she attempted to dry off as much as possible.
"oh, how you doin', man?" you greeted the bartender warmly as he noticed your entrance.
"hey, how are you girls?" he responded with a welcoming smile.
"could we get, uh," you pondered for a moment, "two tequila shots, please?" you requested.
"let's do it," the bartender replied before turning around to retrieve the bottle.
it didn't take long for jackie to realize where the two of you were. as you dried off the ends of your hair with a small towel provided by the bartender, jackie's gaze fixated on a lesbian couple sitting in the corner, their flirtatious exchange evident. she wore a puzzled expression, not yet accustomed to the atmosphere.
"straight down for you girls," the bartender said, handing you the shots. you and jackie thanked him before swiftly downing the tequila.
"can we get two more?" you requested.
"absolutely," the bartender replied.
"actually… can we get four?" you added, and the bartender simply nodded. "thank you," you said.
jackie continued to scan the surroundings with a serious expression, but as the next round of shots arrived, the alcohol began to take effect on the both of you.
you tipsily walked towards the jukebox and inserted a coin, selecting a song that you knew jackie adored. with a sly grin, you pushed the start button, and as "never tear us apart" by INXS began to play, you turned to look at her.
the two of you made your way to the dance floor, exchanging silly smiles as you started jumping around, matching the energy of the first few seconds of the song.
♫ don't ask me, what you know is true,
both you and jackie sang along to the lyrics, pointing at each other when the 'you' part came up. as the song played, you slowly walked in circles, never breaking eye contact.
♫ don't have to tell you, i love your precious heart, i... i was standing, you were there, two words collided,
you continued singing, exaggerating your movements to match the song's lyrics perfectly. all eyes in the bar turned towards you and jackie, captivated by your performance.
♫ and they could never, tear us apart.
drawing closer to each other, your breaths mingling, you abruptly moved apart as the guitar riff of the song began to play. both of you playfully mimicked playing the guitar, exchanging smiles and losing yourselves in the moment, oblivious to everyone else around you.
♫ we could live, for a thousand years, but if i hurt you, i'd make wine from your tears,
the two of you held hands and started dancing together, bodies pressed against each other. you twirled each other around, pulling each other back in. the chemistry between you was undeniable as you moved in sync to the rhythm of the song.
♫ i told you, that we could fly, 'cause we all have wings,
as you continued spinning around, laughter filled the air. but suddenly, the laughter faded into a profound silence as you and jackie held each other even closer, bringing your dance to a halt as you embraced tightly into a hug, slowly swaying in circles. the intensity of your breaths grew as soft smiles graced your faces. jackie held you by the shoulders while you draped your arms around her waist.
♫ but some of us don't know why,
slowly, you separated, maintaining your embrace as you locked eyes without letting go. the soft smiles turned into puzzled expressions as you peered at each other through hooded eyes, resting your foreheads together, feeling each other's tequila-scented breaths intermingling.
♫ i (don't ask me), i was standing (you know it's true)
reluctantly and with hesitation, you subtly rubbed your nose against jackie's, yearning to get even closer but afraid of her reaction. however, jackie seemed unfazed, unbothered by your proximity. with newfound confidence, you both slightly turned your heads to the right, drawing closer to each other's lips, and in that instant, your lips met in a gentle kiss. the surprise of the moment caused you to separate momentarily, staring at each other in equal astonishment.
♫ you were there (worlds collided), two worlds collided (we're shining through)
that was until jackie took hold of your face, pulling you towards her in a single, decisive motion, pressing your lips together in a bruising and passionate kiss. your hands cradled her face as you fervently kissed her back, breaking the kiss after a few moments to look at each other once more. proud smiles adorned your faces, as if you had achieved the greatest of triumphs.
♫ and they could never tear us apart.
as you gazed into jackie's eyes, you noticed her eyebrows furrow and tears welling up. she was looking at you with such love, that you couldn't help but get emotional as well, a tear cascading down your cheek. both of your gazes spoke volumes, conveying emotions that words could never capture. in that moment, you pulled each other into another passionate kiss, one that lasted for hours until exhaustion eventually caught up with both of you.
📞
your slumber was abruptly interrupted by the ringing of your telephone, causing you to groggily reach for it.
"hey," you answered, a sheepish smile lingering on your face as you heard jackie's voice, memories of the previous night flooding your mind. "what's wrong?" you asked, your expression turning to one of concern, "what? are you sure?" your heart sank as you absorbed the news. "are you sure the test is accurate? take another one," you urged anxiously, "three? you took three?" you questioned, feeling perplexed. "what are we gonna do? are you keeping it?" you questioned, your voice trembling. "okay, i'll be there in a minute," you reassured her. "i… i love you too," you said softly before ending the call, tears streaming down your face.
that was the last time you ever saw jackie taylor.

jackie taylor x reader
how have I not written about her yet??? anyways, doing the lord's work (aka what shauna should have done).
everyone stood in shock, watching as jackie stormed out of the room after her explosive argument with shauna. you glanced at the door and back at shauna, unsure whether or not to chase after her or stay and comfort your friend.
tai was by shauna's side immediately, comforting her as the girl sobbed into her chest. still, none of the girls made a move to follow jackie outside.
you weren't stupid. it was hard not to notice how it was getting colder recently, or how all the animals were stocking up and going into hibernation. you knew winter was just around the corner, and feared that jackie could fall prey to it.
you didn't want to be that girl who followed after her, since shauna was a good friend to you and you didn't want to show her you were picking sides. however, you knew that if you didn't do something, no one else would; jackie was one of the most stubborn people you'd ever met, she wasn't going to come inside on her own volition. no, she'd have to be convinced.
at first, you found yourself standing above coach ben, who was still shocked from watching the argument unfold. "coach, you need to do something about that. jackie can't sleep outside," you whisper, glancing back to see if anyone was watching you.
he shook his head, "sorry, but I don't want to get involved in you girls' arguments," he replies, groaning softly as he moves to readjust himself into a better position.
"you're an adult. jackie will listen to you," you beg, but to no avail. ben shakes his head and refuses again, forcing you to look elsewhere. your eyes land on nat, who—granted held a bit of disdain for your captain—would surely see the consequences of leaving jackie outside to freeze.
however, you were no longer sure when travis pulls her in and whispers something in her ear; they both glance towards the door and you knew they'd be no help.
you stared out the window, watching jackie's pathetic attempt at starting a fire with pity. she really wasn't made for the wilderness, that was obvious. it was clear from day one she wouldn't contribute much, since all she'd done was complain, whinge and refuse to help with the chores. but you still remember the sweet and inspiring team captain on your soccer team; you can't help wonder what went wrong.
finally having enough, you quickly slipped outside, going unnoticed by no one. you'd take the dirty glares and rude comments if it meant coercing jackie back inside. you always listened to your gut rather than what people had to say, and right now, your gut was yelling at you to go talk to her.
jackie's gaze lingers on you as you sit beside her. after a beat of silence, she crosses her arms over her and chest and says, "if shauna sent you out here—"
"no one sent me out here," you reply, watching the flickering flames about to go out. it's silent again as you work up the nerve to beg her to come inside and she tried to work out why you were talking to her.
jackie sniffles, trying to hide the fact she'd been crying; it doesn't matter, since you can tell from her red eyes. "she's my best friend and she hates me," jackie mumbles, resting her arms against her legs and her chin on her lap. you're silent, happy to listen to jackie vent—it was for the best, because you weren't going to pretend to know anything about her relationship with shauna. "and you know what's the stupidest part? I don't even love jeff. . . I don't know if I even like him. she broke my heart and I don't know why."
"talk to her about it—and I mean talk, not argue," you reply earnestly, not sure how else someone was supposed to react to this situation. "you feel betrayed, and she feels overshadowed. you still have time to sort this out. fuck! we're in the woods and no one's coming to find us. you have plenty of time to tell her how you feel," jackie looks up at you with tears in her eyes. she's lost for words, and you smile at her gently, assuring yourself that she'd listen.
she shakes her head and sits up, however, making your smile fade. "no, she doesn't want to talk to me right now," jackie mumbles, kicking at one of the stones and accidentally sending it flying into the fire. "and I don't want to talk to her," she adds hastily, making you raise your eyebrow questioningly, "she's in the wrong, I shouldn't have to apologise to her," you roll you eyes at her stubbornness.
"fine, but I'm not leaving until you're inside with me," you snap. you watch her rub her arms up and down, and notice how chill the weather had gotten. was it always like this at night? how did jackie expect to survive through the night. "come on, jackie. I don't want to wake up in the morning to you looking like a smurf."
jackie burst into laughter, making you join too. "god, I'll be fine. don't worry. no frosty the snowman here," she promises. but you're no stranger to the cold. to snow. "I'll be alright, I just can't stand to look at her right now."
it falls quiet again, as you both mull over what she said. you can't help yourself, fearing the worst, you blurt out, "dying isn't worth it, y'know," she raises her eyebrows, "jackie taylor, you're the pettiest person I know. . . but to freeze out here because you're mad at shauna? that's a lot, even for you," you softly explain.
jackie scoffs, rolling her eyes before shivering again, "oh my god, I'm not going to die out here. I have a blanket, I'm wearing a jacket and a roaring. . . well, not roaring, but I have a fire," she points out. "it's not just gonna randomly snow in the middle of the night," you sigh, realising that she was convinced. there was no bringing her inside—and it was getting cold, even for you.
you bite your bottom lip, getting up to kiss her on the forehead. "I love you, okay? I don't want anything bad to happen to you," she looks up at you in shock, "come inside when you're ready, but please, don't stay out here all night. if not because of the weather, then because the wolves that attacked van are close by," she nods, and turns to face the weak fire again as you walk off.
"wait!" she calls out, standing up and chasing after you. your body fills with warmth as you silently rejoice at convincing her to come inside. "what do you mean you love me?"
you froze in your spot, feeling your heart race and your cheeks fill with heat. "I think you know," you reply, hoping that if she didn't feel the same way, she'd assume you were talking platonically.
jackie stares at you, breathing heavily, before she pulls you into a hug. "thank you, for caring enough to come out here," she whispers. you smile softly in return; she leans into you, kissing you gently on the lips. you were in shock for a moment, in complete disbelief that jackie liked you that way—that she liked girls that way. soon, you realised that the kiss was real, and that she wanted you; savouring the sweet moment, you mourned the loss of her lips on your own. "wow, your lips are so warm," you laugh at her, glancing back at the cabin ready to grab her hand when she flinched out of your grasp. "I'm not ready yet. . . stay out here with me?"
you nod, joining her to sit on the log again. you added some kindling to the fire as she snuggled up close to you. it was nice to feel her this close, and know she liked you back—even if it seemed like it was because she was lonely. it didn't matter to you, however, as you focused instead on the way she relied on you for warmth, and the way the flames danced.
after what felt like half an hour (but was closer to two hours) you notice the lights turning off, "it's cold, I'm going back inside," you announce.
jackie nods, "okay. I'll just be a little longer," she replies, shooting you a reassuring smile. you kiss her forehead again, and take sullen steps towards the cabin.
you glance at her once again, tempted to drag her inside, kicking and screaming, but you decide to leave her be. you receive dirty glares when you come back inside. you feel even smaller knowing you'd failed to bring her back in, so it was for nothing.
you accidentally lock eyes with mari, before glancing back at the ground. once you reached the fireplace to warm up, that's when the comments began. "of course you'd chase after jackie," mari snipes, shaking her head.
"it's so cold outside! I was worried she'd actually sleep out there and freeze," you reply, defending yourself.
you heard tai scoff, and looked for shauna, only to find her missing. "she chose to go outside," van mumbles, staring at the floor to avoid your gaze. you stare at her in disbelief.
you glance around the room, seeing no one agree with you—not even misty. nat and travis stared at the ground, also avoiding your eyes. "guys, now is not the time to be petty, she could've been in serious danger," you cry. no one responds, and you can't help but groan and roll your eyes.
"we saw you kiss her," misty announces. you look taken aback, but don't say anything. "three times," she adds, and you bite back the retort you were ready to sling at her.
instead you walk towards your bed, slipping under the sheets and pretending like you didn't notice everyone's gaze on you. eventually, tai heads upstairs and you hear everyone shuffle into their beds—but still no jackie.
your eyelids grow heavy, and as they do, you could swear you hear a door creak open. you smile in your dreamy state, knowing that jackie had finally come back inside. . .
"no, no, no, no, no!" shauna screams, jumping over you and racing outside. you jolt awake, your heart racing as you look around at all the confused faces of the girls. suddenly, it occurs to you, jackie's not one of them.
scrambling to your feet, you and tai are the first ones out the door after shauna. you have no idea why she's carrying on when you finally realise the ground had changed from green to white overnight. shauna was hunched over something in the snow, which at first glance, looked like a log.
it takes you a minute to process the scene in front of you; when it does, it feels like you've been hit by a train. your stomach drops and you feel your heart shatter into a million pieces.
shauna was on her hands and knees, screaming and crying while shaking her best friend. "jackie, wake up!" she wails. tai is by her side immediately, holding onto her and trying to comfort her.
your hand flies to your mouth as you begin to sob as well. no, no! this isn't right! jackie came inside last night! I heard her! you can't help but think. you could've sworn the door was opened. . . but here jackie was, covered in a blanket of snow, as you fell to your knees and mourned the girl you'd had a crush on since middle school.
you feel a pair of arms on your shoulders, as you lean into them for comfort, letting your tears run freely. you couldn't stand to look at the sight anymore without feeling guilty. you'd done everything you could, but was that truly enough? you should've done more! you should've dragged her inside! slapped some sense into shauna or the coach! you should have stayed by her side! tried harder to convince her! or at least kept her warm all night!
but you didn't, and you knew that would haunt you til your dying breath.

Warnings: smut xoxo, a little almost angst
Description: prompt was "there's only one bed" "fuck"
If the plane never crashed and they made it to nationals and where happy little lesbians they deserve to be! (+getting caught kinda)
Words: 2000
Requested by: @imnotjesscossen
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I feel my eyes start to open as the intercom crackles on "please re-buckle you're seat belts, we will be starting our descent in around five minutes" the voice of the captain announces. I rub my eyes, trying to wake myself up whilst Nat, next to me, begins buckling her seatbelt and taking her headphones off her head. "Morning sunshine"  she chirped,sarcastically yet still far too happy for someone who just sat through a six hour flight. "Hey" I grumble, much less enthusiastically, not feeling the same joy as the twinge in my back makes itself known from sitting too long.
The plane slowly tips forward as we begin to land, and coach Martinez goes over what we need to do when we land, usual teacher stuff collect our bags and follow him to the bus that'll take us to our hotel, a plan we follow well after landing, each making our way to the large bus, graciously paid for by mr.Mathews, whilst he's a shit father (from what Lotties told me) at least he doesn't mind spending his money on us. Once everyone's boarded the bus, me sitting next to Nat with Lottie infront and Jackie and Shauna on the two seats across, over the aisle, coach begins to tell us what's happening when we arrive at our hotel. "You will be sharing rooms with DESIGNATED room partners unfortunately you won't get too choose who you share with as we needed to give a list to the headmaster for safeguarding reasons" he announces, voices of objection rise, clearly no one's happy. Great. Now I need to share a room with someone I might not even be close with and won't get to sit and drink with Natalie tonight, perfect. His voice cuts through the air again "I know I know it's not ideal but it was necessary. Ok so Lottie and Nat you're sharing,  jackie and Shauna you're sharing, mari and Laura Lee, gen and Melissa, Allie and Sarah, Misty and crystal, tai and Akilah, and  y/n and Van". My eyes find vans as we look for each other in the crowded bus, we're friends, we both live in the trailer park so we know each other quite well. As our eyes meet she gives me a smile and I smile back, at least it's not someone I don't like.
After a while longer, the bus pulls up outside our hotel and we begin to file out, gathering our bags and meeting in the lobby. Coach Martinez tells us to find our room mates, me and Van drift together through the crowd of rowdy teens. "Hey" she speaks "hiya" I speak back smiling, "I'm quite glad I got you I was afraid I was gonna get someone random when coach said we don't get to choose, she commented. "I know I didn't wanna get out with one of the sophomores or anything" I joke back. Coach hands out the room keys and informs us what time to wake up tomorrow, what room he's in incase of emergency and where all the fire escapes and vending machines are incase we get hungry later in the night. He concludes his speech by telling us to find our rooms and try not to be too loud or stay up to late to prepare for the game tomorrow. The group splits up, each pair going to find their room and set up for the night. Me and Van start walking towards the elevator, making light conversation as we go. Eventually we find our room, between Lottie and Nat's, and Taissa and Akilahs rooms, "well that's good, at least they’re near by", I say nonchalantly and Van nods, fiddling with the key as she opens the door. Revealing a large room with a window on the far side and a bathroom on the left wall, however what room my attention is the double bed sat in the middle, pillows neatly stacked on the crisp white bedding. " there's only one bed" Van utters, clearly just as shocked as I am, "fuck" I blurt out. "Hey I'm not that bad you know, if this is about me liking girls-" "no no no no no, it's not sorry, I just expected there to be two beds, it's definitely not about you liking girls I promise, sorry it sounded like that" I cut her off quickly, the last thing I want her to think is that I'm homophobic, I mean I'd literally hate myself, literally. "Ok good, I thought I'd have to fight you all John McClain style for a minute" she laughs, referencing die hard in the process. "Oh no trust me you don't have to worry about that with me" I ramble, not really thinking about how obvious I made it that I wasn't straight. She looks back at me quizzically for a moment before stepping into the room with her bags. "Which side would you prefer?" She asks, it's nice of her to let me choose, not everyone would do that. "Oh I'll take the side nearest the window if that's ok with you?" I reply, and she nods in response as we begin to unpack our pyjamas and I go to get a shower to get all the grime from the day off. After cleaning off I hop out the shower, brushing my teeth and go to leave, only to realise I left my pyjamas in the bedroom and now need to head into the room with only me and van in,with nothing but a towel covering me. Perfect. After a while of debating I pluck up the courage to just go, I mean it's not big deal we're both girls right? I head into the room and start to change when I feel Vans eyes on me, as I pull my shirt over my head, "take a picture it’ll last longer" i utter giggling, secretly hoping she's not judging me for how I look. Her cheeks flush a pink colour under her freckles, her eyes moving across the room at light speed away from me, realising she's been caught. "S-sorry" she mutters. Weird, vans the most outgoing person I know, I mean in sex Ed she literally shoved a condom on her hand to prove to Randy he's not 'too big' for it, I've never known her to be reserved or quiet like this, maybe she's just tired from the flight? "Okay weirdo" I reply jokingly and she just nods before going to the bathroom.
I get into bed, Van joins me when she comes back from I assume brushing her teeth, turning the lamp of on her way.A silence fills the air, not awkward but almost expecting as I wait for one of us to say something. "Are you ok?" I ask, concern lacing my voice. "Fucking fabulous" she verbalises through gritted teeth, "ok woah, what’s going on?" I ask getting a little concerned, is it me? maybe she’s stressed about the game? "Nothing just go to sleep" she says sharply, clearly annoyed. "This is ridiculous, have I done something? How can I fix it if I don't know what I've done?", my voice annoyed, concerned maybe even upset with the last question. Vans bright blue eyes meet mine, softening a little when she sees how her words effect me. "It's nothing y/n, please let's just sleep" she asks almost pleadingly now, I sit up and turn the light on before moving closer to her. "Van I want to help, if you want to sleep I'll respect that but you don't seem ok" she sits up to the same level as me " I don't think you'll understand, you'll hate me", hate her how could I hate her? "Try me" I respond. She nods a little before shuffling closer to me, our noses nearly touching. "Is this ok?" She whispers, i nod in response, the air in my lugs seemingly caught. Her lips connect with mine so gently, a wave of electricity going through me as i realise what she meant previously. She pulls away an anxious look on her face, "are you mad?". I pull her in, my hand on the back of her neck, "does that answer your question?" We both giggle as our lips reconnect, the kiss growing more intense every second, the ache between my legs growing.
I climb into vans lap, the kiss never breaking as both of my hands find their way to her hair, I feel hers grip my waist, palming at the skin, moving to my thighs and ass, resting there. The sensitivity in my pussy growing too much, my hips begin to roll, craving for attention. I feel vans lips curve into a smile on mine, " is this ok?"Its my turn to ask through heavy breaths, afraid I'm taking things too far. "It's perfect..." Van utters, her hands encouraging my actions. My legs twitch a little, the pleasures incredible but I need something more.
As if she can read my mind Van kisses down my jaw before, reaching between us to my heat and rubbing gentle circles over my panties, feeling how wet I am through the fabric. "All this and I haven't even touched you yet?" Van questions seductively, my face goes hot and I bury my head in the crook of her neck. She moves my panties to the side, playing with my clit. I let out a long breathy moan at the sensation, Van kissing me harshly to muffle the noise, smiling into it; god she's so proud of herself. Her hand continues to move two fingers easily thrusting up into me, the sound filling the room accompanied by both of our heavy breaths and moans. Vans free hand comes up under my shirt to pull at my nipple before massaging the tissue there, sending a shiver through me. "Van, I'm gonna-" I utter, before cutting myself off with a loud moan, feeling my pleasure build. "It's ok princess, just come" with that I let myself fall over the edge, my breaths deepening as my legs started to shake, an electric feeling coursing through my veins. She continued her movements, fingers guiding me through my orgasm until i couldn't take it anymore . "mhph- van please" I almost begged as she slowed her movements, removing her fingers from my pussy, sucking them clean them in her mouth, curved in a smirk, holding eye contact with me.
As soon as she removes her fingers, I pull her in for a long, deep kiss, tasting myself on her tongue. The kiss continues for a while, it's passionate but also gentle and sweet, filled with unspoken feelings. Van flips us over, straddling one of my legs and reigniting the kiss. A harsh knock broke through the sound of our kisses and breathing, making us pull apart before looking at each other to see if the other heard it. Van got up, quickly combing her hands through her hair and making herself look presentable before answering the door. As she swung it open Taissas and Nats shadows filled the door frame, “Could you two PLEASE keep it down, we’ve got a big game tomorrow we need to rest” tai communicated, “I know, the boning was unexpected anyway, but for this long, really!?!” Nat pushed. Van turned round to face me both our cheeks a cherry red. “Sorry” we both said in unison. Van exchanges a few more words with the girls before closing and locking the door and rejoining me in bed, silence filling the room before we both broke out in laughter. “ I can’t believe they all just heard that” she speaks in a hushed voice trying to calm down, “ I know I didn’t think we where THAT loud” I whisper back. We both take some deep breaths as our laughter dies down and we sink into bed a little. “I’m glad tonight happened and I don’t really want it to be a one time thing if you don’t” Van looks into my eyes as she speaks. “ me neither” I confirm and we share a short gentle kiss, one that represents the start of our relationship. We sink down into bed, turning the lamp off and cuddle into each other; getting the best nights sleep ever before the game tomorrow.
Your eyes flutter as the blurry and smoky surrounding air hits your eyes. Your oculus is burning and dry. You couldn’t see straight, and you felt yourself move against the plastic surface against your chest and face. You groan and start to pull against it again with more strength, now with a hand on it flush against the hot plastic, but you still can’t move. You’re nose hurts so bad, your chest feels light and frantic, and your neck sores as you inch your face against your displaced seat. Lips letting out a pained whimper as you push again.
No. No. No.
The crash was real. You were really amid a nightmarish disaster unfolding around you, cut into you like a knife with the sounds of screams piercing through your ear after a few seconds of regaining your consciousness. Your cheek limply pressed against the navy plastic of the back of a seat that once was infront of you, and your back arched extremely uncomfortably as your plush chair was broken forward. “Thank god my neck didn’t break,” You think darkly as you fight against your seat again. Your chair was still on your back, but you slowly evaluated what was happening.
Misty rushed past you down the walkway, the others screaming and crying loudly, and Taissa was close behind her. The two of them get to the plane's door and pry it open, some girls beg for them to open it, and others scream nonstop. Agony across everybody at this moment, and you look up to the others, paralyzed in your seat that has broken from the floor but stuck in the front that trapped you against the back of the seat in front of you.
You start to blink faster when Misty pops the door with the summer breeze flowing into the plane, and you try again to move, this time with a foot kicking against the seat. You felt tears and panic come over you as you realized you were trapped in your chair. You were going to die in your seat.
“Help! Help, please!” You cry out to the others, but you keep trying to push them away. “Lottie!?”
You sob you sniffle in smoke as the dryness causes you to choke. You frantically push your shoulders back to your seat and use your face and hand to thrust yourself off the backing. You cry pathetically as some t with others, some with metal popping out of their body and others dressed in blood.
“(Y/n)!! Stop! Stop moving!” Lottie says to you as she comes over, her hand next to yours on the back of the seat, helping you move.
“Lottie, I can’t! I have-“
“You’re going to impale yourself!” Lottie snaps at you as she moves a hand to your lap to undo your belt. Your hips limply fell due to gravity and freed your other hand; you didn’t realize how pinned you were. Lottie then started to push the back of your seat away from you with all her strength, her biceps bulging and her face twisting with pressure. You meekly move out of the way with your limp hands and numb feet, your entire body trembling as you stumble into the plane aisle.
You look behind you to see that the plane had a massive opening from the wing being ripped off by force, and just behind your seat was a sophomore impaled by a metal beam that supported the walls of the aircraft. The sharp metal stapled the girl through her heart. You only survived the metal beam by your seat breaking forward, missing the edge that attached the back of your chair.
Your eyes wide with tears flowing out, your breath pulsing in your throat, you push yourself off the walkway. Adrenaline is pumping through you more than blood. You stood up, and you felt you would run a marathon. Lottie tugs you with her to the door before you can find solid ground with your numb feet; Lottie lets go as she goes outside. You follow behind her closely before you hear Van.
Van pleaded for help as she could get out of her seat. A fire started behind her in the flight attendant area, spreading and was horrific.
It doesn’t feel real. It doesn’t feel like your body as your legs rush to the ginger. You quickly start helping her. Shauna comes from behind you and begins frantically pulling Van’s seat belt. Van was crying and frantically helping us with the belt, and it wouldn’t come off. All three of you fight the locked strap, Jackie pulls Shauna away with a fight, and you don’t even seem to be fazed by Jackie’s skinny hands trying to grip your shoulder.
You don’t know what came over you as you shrug her hand away and fight even harder to save Van—Shauna cries out to you two when she is pulled with Jackie out of the plane.
“Come on! God, please, come on, you fucking cocksucking slut!” You cry to the belt, feeling the heat of the fire near you, and Van smashes her hips and breaks it.
Finally, it broke. You grab Van’s hand and quickly run out of the plane. The fire touching your arm, the smell of the tiny hairs burning, you yelp as both of you are pushed by the force of an explosion from the area you were just in.
You stumbled further away from the plane with small steps, the tall pine trees and dirt under your feet. You thought, “I am not supposed to be here.”
 Your eyes rain on the scene of the girls scurrying to try to help each other and find people alive. You see Travis yelling for Javi, Taissa yelling for Van as she rushes past you, and Misty holding a balled-up shirt to one girl bleeding eye. Your body freezes as you feel your knees buckle; you could get out of this tranced panic, breathing deeply. Your breath is quick as it comes in and out, and you feel lightheaded when you finally come to the truth that you were stranded where you were with them. They had no idea what to do, and you didn’t know either.
 “You were supposed to be the smartest one here.” You remind yourself as you swallow the sobs begging to come out. You felt a wall go over you. It clicked and grounded you at the moment.
You spring out of your trance, your legs marching quickly over to Misty. She looked up at you with her big brown eyes, she looked just as scared as you, and you helped the young girl sit on the rock below her.
“It’s okay; everything will be okay. Just keep this on your eye, okay!” You say to the girl with a forced smile. You cringe at the feeling of your lips turning upwards on your face, and shame dances around your body. “Misty, what can I do?” You ask Misty. You start wrapping a scrap of fabric around the balled-up shirt to hold it into place.
“(Y-y/n), i-i don’t know-“
“It’s okay. Just do your best.” You say quickly, the girls still swarming around and loudly trying to find people.
“I need you to rip these into strips so I can bandage three other girls,” Misty says quickly, handing you a shirt that you quickly start ripping with your bare hands. You felt strong with Arderaline.
Both you and Misty start helping around, giving bandages, and trying to stop some girls from bleeding. You lost track of Misty as you comforted a first-year student with a deep cut on their arm, you closed it up and cleaned it, and your shaking hands tied the fabric to her arm. You grab a blanket to give to the girl for comfort, but you are stopped before you hand it over.
“Guys! Coach Ben!” Misty yells from the other side of the plane. You quickly rush over to her voice. You gasp as you find Coach Ben lying on the ground with a part of the broken-off wing on top of, crushed, his left leg. You feel the other senior girls come behind you, and they react similarly, “Help me move this!” Misty pleaded. She started to try lifting the heavy part off of the coach's leg.
You and the others rush over to help her, the coach screaming his head off as you all lift with all your collective strength to move the wing. After a minute of struggling, you all carry the wing as you look down, Ben’s leg hanging on by a thread. The portion was ripped off from the knee, muscles and fat exposed with the sharp edges of the crushed bones of his lower leg. Blood leaked out of him rapidly when the wing was lifted, without the pressure to stop the bleeding from oozing out of the wound.
You gasp and feel at a loss for words. You don’t know what to do, but you must do something. You drop to your knees as the others back off, scared and disgusted, and grab the blanket.
As you lay out the makeshift gurney, you felt a sharp breeze with a thud beside you to the wounded leg. You snap up to see that Misty cut just above the eviscerated knee. You quickly wrap some of the blanket around the wound.
“Help us move him!” Misty commanded, taking her belt off to tie it around Ben’s leg.
“Misty, what the fu-“
“Everyone shut the fuck up and listen to me,” you snapped at them as you tried to help Misty with the leg. They froze at the sound of your voice. It was commanding and strong, sounding like your fathers when you camped and traveled. It startled you as you tightened the fabric on the meaty wound. The sticky blood leaks between your fingers and slides down your plush hand.
“We don’t need to question Misty right now, so shut the fuck up. She did the right thing. He would have bled out if she didn’t cut it off because we can’t fucking save a shattered bone with what we have.” As you looked at the other seniors, Misty was quiet beside you as she helped get the blanket under Ben. You look at the seniors and realize that as of right now, with  Ben passed out, the seniors were the only authority out here. And right now, you were thinking and decided it was best to try and control everything as best you could. Your fathers' advice about the wilderness comes to your head quickly as you say, “Shauna, Jackie, go get firewood; we need a fire before it is dark. Sticks are fine, but big ones the size of your legs would be wins, okay? We need a lot tonight.”
Shauna nodded to you, and Jackie stared at you with disturbed eyes. She meekly nodded to you with Shauna.
You snap your head to the next girl, Lottie’s warm and affectionate eyes on you, Lottie’s eyebrows drawn together, and a wrinkled folded skin between the eyes. “Lottie, I need you to find me something to light a fire. I will even take two fucking rocks. Please hurry!” You say sternly, pulling the edges under Ben, tugging it under his back and head, “Tai, you need to clear the way and get the other girls out of the injured. We will need to have a clear way to move him.”
“Got it!” Tai says and rushes out of the scene, and she doesn’t think twice once you finish your order to her.
“Natalie,” you say as you make eye contact with the panicked girl, “can you go find Travis? We’ll need him! Van, help us with him.” You say as you and Misty struggle to lift the adult man with the thin blanket, now soaked in his blood. Natalie doesn’t say a word before she runs off to find Travis, you didn’t even know why you asked for him, but you wanted to give everyone something to do.
“Come on!” You groaned to the other two girls as you tightly held the blanket. The other two shuffle with you and struggle with Ben’s dead weight.
You hear screams from the other girls as you three lay Ben down on the ground softly. You softly start wiping the sweat on his forehead and neck as he still lies in shock.
You feel almost lost in a dream after Misty told you to sit down; everyone was running around now with the jobs you gave them. You slowly sit down against a tree, your hands caress every crevice of the bark, and you feel the cold air slowly flow inside your nostrils. You didn’t feel like you matched your reality, as you couldn’t understand why you were standing here. You were heading to Seattle for the weekend? You were meant to be there at 12:45, and you would call your mom before Jerry Springer came on and talked to her. How were you going to call your mom? You said you were going to call.
“Hey…” Lottie rushed over to you and touched your back, and she sighed as she held two rocks in her hands. The wrinkle on her brown was deeper than before, and her eyes looked dilated wide, “I couldn’t find a lighter. I couldn’t find Natalie, and I found these stupid rocks, but-”
You silenced and looked down at the rocks in her hands as she self-depractiatonly rambled and gently took them from her soft hands like a gift. You felt empty, and you felt scared and confused. But you smiled and nodded your head to make her quiet. “Lottie, this is perfect. Thank you, this is exactly what I asked for.” You listlessly say to her and hold her hand for a second as you get the rocks.
Lottie looks into your eyes for a moment and seems to be stuck in their gaze. Her diluted eyes look into yours, and for a moment, it seems like some kind of language is shared between her brown eyes to yours.
sighed at Jackie, and she placed her wood down gently. She forced a smile on you as she did it.
“Here!” Jackie said as she dumped the pile of firewood onto the ground beside you.
“Thank you, great job!” You animated. You knew Jackie needed positive reinforcement to keep morale up. You then kneel near the woodpile and move the kindling to the more cleared land to control the fire. You curl the small twigs and leaves and line up thicker sticks near you. You take the two undemanding rocks together, making a loud clang.
“What are you even doing?” Jackie whined behind you, watching over your actions. She is out of the three watching you alerting you of their eyes on you and sticking onto you.
You flick the rocks together again against their edges for friction. You quickly smash the rocks together and don’t ignore the gray stones in your hands. You flick them faster together, and tiny friction sparks come off them after your 10th strike. You lean the rocks lower to the dead leaves on the ground that quickly set alight. You drop the stones, blow smoothly onto the leaves, and feed them small sticks until a stable fire starts. You provide one of the sticks Jackie dropped for you.
“That. I was doing that, Jackie.” You decree as you put another piece of wood on the fire, forming a smile.
 All the girls sat around the burning fire; you stared at the stones you formed around it to protect the fire. You sit with your knees to your chest, your hands rubbing your numb legs up and down. A low tremble came over you a few hours ago. The dark comes closer as the girls are quiet.
You sat by the fire and fed it the branches to keep the light alive for everyone. The sun that simmered along the gaps in the leaves dulled slowly until it was completely black in the wilderness. There was a calm with the injured, and most had fallen asleep. The girls seemed to quiet under the weight of reality. You bit your lip to keep yourself from saying anything to them, you didn’t even know what to say. The feeling of pulsing pain rests on the base of your neck, you feel a tingling and dull but sharp when you move too quickly. You hope it will go away soon.
Shauna breaks the silence gently and smoothly. She was reassuring, “I am sure that the plan has an emergency transmitter or something that is sending a Distress signal and they’ll be here in the morning.”
“Still…” Jackie hesitates as she looks over at Van eating corn nuts. “Maybe we should conserve some food? In case they don’t get here till later in the day?”
Van nods, her lips pursed as a look of hurt enters her face. “You want to save the CornNuts?”
“Jackie, let’s not worry about food for a moment. We will be okay.” You say, a little sternness to it as you poke at the fire, “We should worry about shelter first. We need to build or find something before we start worrying about food. We are fine.”
The words that come out of your mouth don’t really sound like you. They sound like the words and tone your father used out camping. Sternly leading and correcting. You hated it. But you couldn’t find the strength to mask that up. “We’re just in the woods, you guys. We are built to live in all-natural conditions, and we have conquered it before. But this time, we know what we are doing. We’re in Canada, and the forest is fertile and green. We’ll be okay until tomorrow, when they will probably find us. Shauna was right; every plane since Vienmme has a distress box. We can eat the CornNuts.” You say to them to calm them down a little bit.
“But what about bears?” Jackie asked to you, nervousness in her eyes. Everyone’s eyes look to you as you speak. You feel a weight on your chest but but you compose yourself.
You smoothly fake a chuckle as you say, “The plane was very loud. And for a forest like this, that would scare off everything in a 15-mile radius away from the sound. Even Grizzley bear would run away from that. They will stay away from here for a day, We’ll be okay.”
Jackie and everyone grows silent again. You look over to Van and see the soft sadness. You stop working on the fire and move beside Vanessa with a smile. You gently push the hair out of Van’s face, and ask her quietly, “Are you okay? The burns are looking better.”
“Yeah, I’m fine.” She utters back to you with her eyes glued to your hand that touched her face so tenderly. Van has never felt that kind of softness from someone, she looks up with puppy eyes. “Does it look bad?”
“No. You look like you still, just a little crispy from the fire.” You mumbled and rubbed Van’s back.
“You okay, Laura Lee?” Tai asked the girl next to her by us. You look over to the two and see the blonde worryingly pensive. A fat tear welled on the bottom of her waterline as she looked down to the dirt.
“This is all my fault.” Laura Lee confessed, sincere with every vowel. “I did something really bad.”
Tai looks over at the two of us, I shake my head, and Van shrugs her shoulders. Confused and worried.
 “I kept screwing up in my piano lesson last week. Mrs. Brophy kept yelling at me.” She continued, tears falling down to the ground. “Sharp. F sharp. F sharp.” She whispered in memory. “I just… I couldn’t take it anymore. So I called her a bad word. Just in my head, but… God heard me. Now we’re all being punished.” She mournfully nods in disgust in herself. Van shakes a little beside you as she tries to hold in a laugh. You grip her arm to hold it in.
“What did you call her?”
“A cunt.” She whispers. A muffled laughter breaks out in the group as we all laugh at the innocence of her words. Even Laura Lee breaks out into a laugh.
“I steal shitty clothes from TJ Maxx.” Lottie blurted out.
“What?” Van giggled.
“I return them, and I get the credit that I never use, and I have thousands of dollars in T.J. bucks.” She explains, and we all laugh again louder. You feel a sharp pain in your neck as your head rolls back, your ribs yell at you to stop, but you can’t, a cut on your lip opens, and a little taste of blood comes to your tongue.
Sometimes you think people laugh as hard as they want to cry. And these are one of those times.
“What? Really?” Jackie agust, giggling to Lottie.
“I, uh… I used to sneak downstairs after everybody had gone to bed and watch The Color of Night. So, I could pause it on Bruce Willis’s wang.”
Giggles and cackles.
“Definitely why we crashed,” Tai added.
“Jeff’s not bad, but damn. Right?”
You don’t notice Misty slipping away from the group as you exclaim, “I was the one that spray painted that Mr. Madden was a Pervert!”
Everyone roared with laughter, and tears came to their eyes, shock and disbelief.
“No fucking way!” Natalie chimed.
“Yeah! I saw he looked up Susie’s skirt when she was getting books, and the time he called that only whores wear slipped skirts! I just fucking had it!”
“Seriously?”
“Yeah, I was just trying-”
The screaming of couch Ben cut you off. You all run over to find that Misty has cauterized his wound.  Immediately Taissa and the others start to ridicule Misty, and you quickly tell them that it is what is best for an open wound. You feel yourself start to space out for a moment, running on autopilot.
Your fingers type onto the keyboard as you blankly stare at the computer screen. You were trying to finish the 17th chapter of your book, trying to add as much smut as possible. You groan as you roll your aching shoulders. You slowly and declicly roll your head not to upset the temperamental wound that never healed. Over the years, the base of your neck always seemed to be annoyed and caused you to have intense migraines. It sometimes felt like a little devil stabbing you in the back. You take a long breath, feeling it slide down your throat, and you look down at the screen again.
You reread out loud as you light yourself a cigarette, “She slid her hands under the strap of Anna’s belt, touching and twitching the soft bulb- clit that made Anna sigh out for her lover.” You corrected and typed.
Brring! Brring! Brring!
You look down at your phone next to you to see it vibrating and a name that makes your heart fall to your stomach. You answer it quickly.
“Hello, Misty, what going on?”
“Oh! I’m doing good, I just got off a shift with my least favorite co-worker, and it was super unprofessional; I mean, who calls off 20 minutes before a shift?”
You felt a smile come to your cheeks as you hear Misty talk on the other end. “Someone who is a jag off, girl.”
“Yeah, sorry for calling you so late.” It’s 5 pm. “I was calling to let you know that I spoke with that Jessica person, and you were right, super shady. The publisher isn’t real, and I couldn’t find her anywhere.”
“Did she ask you anything?”
“Nothing more than what you said she would. She was weird.”
You chuckle at this and hear her on the other end giggling hysterically. You knew she was just laughing to copy you, but it didn’t stop the warmth coming into your heart. “Yeah, she is weird. Anything else I should know?”
“Well, did you get the postcard?”
“What, no? What postcard?”
“I got this postcard, and it, uh, it had It on it. I think someone is trying to blackmail us.”
You felt your heart drop to your stomach, and you turned away from your outside desk and went inside. You felt tense from learning that. “Well, haven’t got a postcard, and I know we all wouldn’t peep about it-“
“I don’t know; someone could have spoken.”
“Well, if they did, we would find them, and they know what we do to traitors.” You snapped firmly, tense with a familiar feeling of needing to protect the hive. You take a deep breath, trying to shake the reflective sharpness of your words. “I’m sorry, Misty, didn’t mean to get that way-“
“I get it.” Misty proudly says on the other end; you could imagine her putting her hand on her chest and her smile trying to win you over. “I was like that when I first saw it. But don’t worry; I don’t think it’s too much because it only has the single and nothing else. The postcard was bought online, so I couldn’t find where they bought it, and there is no way to trace it, but it most likely is nothing but someone trying to stir stuff up. “
“Oh.” You sighed out of relief. You put your hand to your forehead.
“I have another thing to tell you.” Misty chimed happily, “Natalie is back in town. I know. I was shocked too.”
“Holy shit?! Natalie is back?” You say with a little bit of your air knocking out of you. You and Natalie had a very close relationship. Once you were rescued, Natalie went off and did her own thing. You saw her periodically throughout the last 24 years since she left Wiskayok. The last time you saw or heard from Natalie was in 2013 when she was in New York, and she went to the old flat you had had for the entirety of your time in the city for your career. She came over, you cooked for her and caught up, and you two made love. She left in the middle of the night to never speak to you again. You heard she was in rehab, getting better a few times, then released, and the cycle continues.  She always returned to you like an old samurai movie where the husband had left the wife for years only to go again because of duty. That duty was running away from what happened like a fool.
“Yeah, She came back in town last night. We caught up last night. Funny enough, I was on a date, and when I got home-“
“Let me guess. Nat broke into your house?”
“How did you know?!” Misty was astonished, and a giggle came out of her mouth like an uncontrollable tick. “Yeah, she came in and thought I was the one that sent the postcards because she got one.”
“Now I feel left out.” You joke as you smoke the end of your cigarette that you mainly had forgotten about from the stampede of intense memories. “Was she doing good?” You asked, your eyebrow furrowed slightly. You had always worried about your team; even after you cut off most of them, it didn’t mean you didn’t want them to be happy.
“Yeah, she looked great…” Misty said on the other end, and she got quiet. You did, too, just wanting to hold the air that connects you two for a moment longer.
“I have-“ you start and get cut off from Misty.
“You still live on Applepine, right?”
You still, and a breath comes through you, your voice says before you can stop. “Yeah, I moved back in.”
“Great! I’ll see you later!”
“What?”
“I’m going to pick you up later, and we can see Natalie together!” Misty chimed happily. A little bit of panic comes over you as you feel the unease of leaving the safety of your home. “I think it would be good for us to catch up and talk together.”
You pause, and your eyes linger on the window in your kitchen; you stare into the treeline of the oak trees that lingered on your land. You stare into the darkness collected by the trees as if it was pulling you into the shade from your home's kitchen. “I-I need a little bit more time before that. I need to prepare to go out and-” You stop rambling and say with a crease on your brow. “You know what, If Natalie is still here in a few days, I would be more than willing to meet up.”
“Really?” She amazed.
“Yeah.” you jerk as a cold sweat collects on your brow. You locked into a trace with the shaded side of the yard. “I would love to see you two and see how you have been up to.”
“Great! We’ll get coffee! I’ll come around Monday morning?”
You felt a forced smile come over your lips as if she was in front of you, a deeply founded habit you couldn’t let go of, always acting without wanting to make someone else happy. “Yeah, that sounds great! I’ll talk to you then?”
Misty giggled on the other end, chirping, “See you Monday! I’ll text you the details!”
She hangs up the phone, but you stand in your kitchen and see the tree in the distance start to shift under your intense stare. You don’t know if you imagined it; the tree branches don’t seem right. Trees typically had random sticks and edges to the extensions, not horns proudly pointing toward your home.
You gulp and close your eyes. Opening them again to only find the tree back to how it should be, you blink a few times before you text the closest person to tell about this.
You: HEY! Something is happening with Misty and Natalie. I’m going on a trip so that is where I am if I go MIA Shauna: Misty? You are talking to Misty again?  You: Girl, She called me, and I’m not going to say no to her.  Shauna: K good luck  🙏
You finally find a good moment to leave, and everyone in the injured group is calm after Misty cauterizes Ben’s leg. Tai, Van, Mari, Natalie, and you all decided to stay up in shifts to look over the team while they slept because they were still scared of animals. You told them to look around for anything and call you if they found anything edible. You then kind of walked off; you shooed away Mari and Tai because you “needed to pee.”
You walk straight for 10 minutes; you turn around to see the small fire about 2½ miles off. The woods sang loudly and unashamed all around you, the sounds of the trees moving, squirrels running, the sounds of bees in hives humming in the air. You felt that seed that was laid in your chest, and it danced around with every step. Your mind was clear, complete and suppressed as you finally sat down again. Body tingling and squeaking as your plush back leans on the bark of the old oak tree, soreness rests sternly on your eyes and neck. Every blink hurts, every turn of your head insults your neck, and every word out of your mouth opens a scab on your lower lip from a cut you have assumed came from your teeth from the force of the plane hitting your face.
And like a bomb whining down, you exploded.
A sob escaped before you even realized it, and your body convulsed to cup your mouth shut. You couldn’t stop it this time. Your face twists, and you sob helplessly into your hands, your knees protecting your chest. You lean harder onto the tree and try to hide in it. You just wanted to be strong and smart. “No crying at camp”, are the words your father said to you when you were a kid and when you grew hysteric when he skinned a rabbit. You felt a hollowing in your chest, like a child for a moment in the woods, and you never felt so lost in your life.
“Where the fuck am I? In Canada, the plane crashed in the woods in the mountains. But pilots have to tell someone they are going to another country, right? Why wouldn’t they? Do they think we are in Seattle? Oh my god, mom and dad!” You thought and started feeling trapped in a small box that grew tighter around you. Your throat closed like a Barracuda sprang up and twisted around your neck, waiting to eat you when you die. You are going to die alone without your mom or dad. They were never going to find you. “Oh my god, I was going to call my mom! How am I going to talk to her? What is going to happen? FUCK! What time is it? Isn’t it 10:30? She needs her medication! Fuck, fuck, fuck! I want my mom! I want my mommy!” You helplessly thought, your breath moving fast in and out, wrapping your arms around yourself to hug yourself to find comfort in this crashing moment.
“Hey! (Y/n), you over there?”
Your head snaps up, and sees Misty walking towards you with a blanket. She is almost running to you. You try and fail to wipe your tears away, and you try to hide the panicked shaking in your body.
“Yeah.” you croak.
Misty gets closer and slows down, her eyes on your face. Her face pinches, and her eyebrows furrowed. She looks a little angry at the tears on your face. “What happened? Are you okay?”
You chuckle a little and wipe the still-falling tears. You shake your head and look at her with a smile creaking, and you start to feel delirious. “Outside of surviving a plane crash, worrying about my old as fuck parents, and trying to keep it cool. You know, nothing big.” You lightly joke, lightly lament, but a crack in your voice wins the fight to suppress it from showing how hurt you are under the surface. You don’t even know how you came across to others, and it worried you deeply, hoping you were not being a bitch and trying to keep everything calm before it got real.
“(Y/n)…” Misty sighs; she pushes up her glasses in her way. She smiles, comes closer to you, crouching before you, and puts the blanket around you. “You are the smartest girl here. You are freaking valedictorian, and you started a fire! We would be so lost without you.” she compliments. It wasn’t what you wanted to hear. You wanted her to confide in you as you did, but you think she doesn’t understand that she can do that.
You smiled at her, not accepting her words but acting like you did. “You are very sweet, Misty, thank you. You’re right. And the same can be said about you; you fucking took charge today Misty. I am very proud of you.” You said, honey dripping through the words. You wanted her to feel comfort, too; it was kind that she still tried to do the emotional labor even out here. Misty’s eyes were wide as plates when you spoke, and she was silent. She nodded her head; her cheeks were deeply red. You don’t understand why she got so flustered by a mirrored compliment. Misty’s eyes were a little watery, and you didn’t know what came over you, but you leaned over and hugged your blanketed arms around her shoulders.
Misty’s cheek nestles to yours, and you rub her back. Misty’s hand awkwardly hovered your skin, and her breath hitches audibly.
It made you feel sad for her. A simple hug was enough to make her breath stop. She was touch starved and had no friends, but she was kind and sweet. Yes, Misty is the weirdest person you have ever met, that sometimes gets under your skin, but she never was cruel.
“T-thank you, (y/n).”
“Not a problem. What are friends for?” You say to lighten your mood and her. You felt yourself wall up again and forget why you were crying as you hugged Misty. Her hair moves to look at you and pull from the hug, smelling like marshmallows and raspberry.
“We’re friends!? Are you sure?” Misty asked; she seemed a little shocked to hear you say that.
You laugh and nod, “Yeah, we’re friends, girl. Why do you think I went to you first?” You say, not wholly truthful but honest, that she was the first person you went to when you exited the plane. She knows that too. She blushes and stares at you a few inches from your face, not backing off the hug. You smile and hug her again, feeling comfort from her body on yours. You rub your hands on her shoulder up and down, showing her how much you care at that moment.
“Hey! I think I found some berries or something.” Natalie calls out for you a few feet away, probably not seeing you in the dark. You pull away from Misty and stand up with her; you take the blanket and wrap it around your shoulders.
“I will catch up with you later, Misty; try to go get some rest because you rocked it today.” You reassure and turn to find Natalie, Misty doesn’t look away from you. She nods and hesitates before she walks out to the camp. You don’t notice her walk out into the forest.
You start to walk towards where Natalie’s voice was. Sticks and leaves crunch under your feet. You call her name once before feeling a hand coming to your arm.
“Hey-“
“FUCKING CHRIST!” you shriek, falling back to Natalie’s chest. You turn to find her face inches away from yours. Her hand seems to tighten on your flesh when you look at her, trying to hold onto you longer.
“Shit-I’m sorry!”
“Nat, your all good!” You laugh, feeling the fear leave you quickly. You pull your arm away from her touch. Natalie’s eyebrows furrowed at the movement, and looked harder at you. “You found something?”
“Yeah. Come with me,” Natalie said, crossing her arms over her chest, and she walked a few feet with you to a bush with little blue and red berries on the branches. “Here, I almost tripped over it when I took a leak.”
You chuckle and look closer, even in the darkness, you can tell what they are in a second. They are super common in Northern America and are primarily for deer, which means that deer and doe will be around the area with time of year. You smile and exclaim, “You did good! These are yummy!”
“Wait? They are not poisonous?” Natalie asked with wide eyes, shocked she found something of importance.
You smile and shake your head, “yeah, you did. Good eye, I wouldn’t have found them in the dark.” You say, looking for something to collect them in. Natalie is silent as she watches your face, she is almost studying the curve of your face in the darkness, and she snaps out of it and pulls out a scarf from her leather jacket pocket.
You thank her and take the cloth to start collecting the red and blue berries, Natalie does the same, and you smile at her. “Okay, so remember, White and Yellow, kill a fellow. Purple blue is good for you. Red is something for you. Like it’s 50/50, these berries come in two colors, so I know they are okay. They are called Bilberries, they’re kinda like, um, currents and cherries.” You teach her. You softly touch her arm to show her the berries. You take one into your mouth and the juices of the natural small berry pop in your mouth with a tart sweetness that is so luscious on your hungry tongue. A small moan comes from your mouth, and you hand one over to Natalie’s mouth.
Natalie’s big blue eyes look deep into your eyes as her mouth opens, welcoming the berry in your hand. Your hand gently puts the berry into her lip, and the skin of your palm glides on her lower lip softly as you move your hand back. It felt like it was in slow motion. You pull yourself away to pull more berries, with heat coming to your neck and spreading up your cheeks.
“Cool.” Natalie smiled. She picked some more and put them in the palm of your hand. She looks at you and says, “I never knew you knew all this stuff. Woodsy and shit.”
You shake your head and laugh, a little embarrassed, and pick more berries into your palm. “I’m not really. My dad is this Teddy Roosevelt kind of guy. He tries to take us to all the national parks each summer.” You explained, the marble ball of dread rattling as you spoke. You miss your dad. You wanted to hear his voice. “I just like to know a little bit about everything.” You continued. You look over to Natalie and see this softness on her face. Her eyes were on you, her blue eyes were a little sad as she took your words in. She never knew what it was like for a father to want to spend time with their kids or do things that didn’t involve screaming. She knew that if anyone should have a good family, it was you. Natalie always saw you as this sweet light for her, one of the only good things that she has going on and had going on for years. You were a good influence and taught her math and English outside the club. You were patient and never made Natalie feel small for not getting something. You just accepted people in Natalie’s eyes, which she longed for.
Natalie smiled at you and handed you some more, “You are really smart, you know that. Seriously, you are the only person I copied on and still got an A.”
Laughing, “Oh whatever, you know if you applied yourself, you would get A’s too.” You say back, remembering the years of letting Natalie look over your shoulder to cheat on almost every math test since freshmen year.
“Nah, I don’t know. I do know that you are smart as fuck.”
“Oh please, your smart too! You are the only person I know that can read a map correctly, and you know how to talk to people-“
“(Y/n), that doesn’t take smarts to talk to people.”
You shake your head with a soft smile, “No, but it takes a different kind of intelligence just to meet people and talk to them. You are smart, and I will not let you shut yourself down in my presence.” You said with a stern ending. You take the last of the berries and let Natalie finish up.
“Fine, but know that I disagree.” Natalie joked and handed me the last of the berries. Her hand stopped on top of the berries. Like she wanted to hold your hand under the mountain of berries, she looked at your face and said, “How are you holding up?”
You look at her face and feel the weight of her blue eyes on your face. You felt like blushing. A small ping of guilt comes over you when you remember she doesn’t know you are gay. “Honestly, I am not doing better than anyone else. I am freaking a little bit on the inside right now.”
Natalie nods and purses her lips, “I get it. I am still shaking from everything…”
“Same. My legs feel like jello, but happy to still be standing.” You smile and chuckle a bit to make it lighter than you feel. The bruising around your eyes hurts when your cheeks pull up in your smile. You just push it away. You and Natalie start walking back to the camp. You keep bumping your shoulder with hers. “Okay, I don’t want to sound insecure-“
“Then don’t.”
“Does my face look bad? I look a little messed up, but I don’t know. And I know you will be honest with me.” You asked, you touched your eye to the soreness under it. You haven’t looked at yourself well yet because of how busy you were with everything, but you knew you looked as bad as you felt.
“You're still sexy you.” She said and put a hand on your shoulder, her blue eyes burned into the side of your face. “You’ll still have a modeling career after all this, don’t worry.”
You laugh and act out relief with a dramatic hand wiping sweat from your brow. “Oh, thank god, I don’t know what to do if Victoria's Secret cut me from the summer collection.”
You and Natalie laugh as you come to the circle of sleeping girls; you shh her, and you hold in your giggles. She tries to as well but fails a little bit. You quietly go to the fire and put the berries near it for tomorrow.
Lottie sits up from her makeshift sleeping bag, “Your guys still up? Did you find anything?” She whispered to us. You give her a quick look of apology for waking her with your giggles. You nod toward the pile of berries in the cloth and say, “Yeah, don’t worry about it. Go back to bed.”
You missed the sharp look Natalie sent Lottie that told her to back off and stop talking to you. Lottie doesn’t bad down as she says, “Okay… but you sleep next to me. I am scared.”
“Oh, Lottie.” You melted a little bit at the small voice she had coming out of her mouth. You smile and move to her, letting Natalie stand by the fire alone.
“Hey, no, (Y/n), come sleep next to us. Shauna and I have your bag next to us.” Jackie says, cutting through the air sharply. She stops you from moving, and you look over to her like a deer in the headlights.
“Well, she was going to sleep with me-“
“No, (y/n) come over here,” Jackie commanded softly.
“Uhm, how about I sleep with Jackie and Lottie you can come sleep by me too. Win-win.” You say to Lottie and come over to Jackie and Shauna. You smile at both and see your bags still together and not super damaged. You almost cry when you see your bag. You open it up and look through the contents. You see your clothes, underwear, makeup, notebook and pens, your Walkman and cassettes, and most importantly, you find the ½ bag of your mom's medical marijuana that you had hidden in your room but took with you out of paranoia that your parents would find it while your away. Your purse connected with the small chain, your dad insisted on giving you the old chain to secure luggage, and that inside your pack of cigarettes were still all together. You didn’t engage with the soft bickering of Lottie and Jackie. Natalie seemed to just sit down by the fire with a gloomy aura about her now.
“Jackie, why did you always to have it your way-”
“I do not! Her stuff was here because she put it here; Shauna found her purse and stuff, so shut up and go to bed.” Jackie whispered hiss at Lottie as you stood back up from your purse, slipping your pack into the back of your jeans.
“Yeah, Lottie, relax. Don’t get on Jackie’s case about it for no reason.” Shauna added in, hyping Jackie up.
You steal the pack and smile at the girls that were still bickering about where you were going to sleep. You look at them and say, “Actually, I think me and Natalie are going to look out for some more berries.”
Natalie’s eyes widen, and she comes back behind you, her eyes that were angry that the girls took your attention away. She looked slightly smug as she reached behind you. Jackie and Lottie whine slightly, asking you to just sleep with them and saying that it’s not safe if you leave them.
“Everything is okay. I will be back in a few. Don’t worry so much. I will come right back.” Your day, and you pull Natalie with you again to the woods. You don’t miss the displeased faces of Jackie and Lottie. “I just wanna see if we can find more. Come on, Nat.” You say and tug her with you.
You both walk back into the woods and to the bush, “I thought we were looking for more berries.”
“Fuck that.” You said, and you pulled out your pack of cigarettes and lighter. You smirk at her and say, “Would you like one?”
Natalie smirked at you, took one from the pack, and leaned forward toward your face. The end of the cigarette meets the end of yours. Your eyes look into her blue eyes as they look down. You start to wonder if all the flirting you two have done was real for her as it was for you and how it would be just to lean forward.
“You know you smell good?” Natalie rasped as she pulled back, her now-lit cigarette glowing at the end. She smiles and puffs the stick with her fingers decorated in chipped black lacquer. She nods, “You feel like a girly girl. All fruity and shit.”
You laugh; you are aghast, “I don’t know how! I just smell like sweat and blood.”
Natalie chuckled and shook her head, and she continued to flirt with you lightly. The two of you not noticing or caring about the pressure from the trees.
Fingers gripping the bark hard enough to scratch lines on the weak bark. Watching the two of them talking and laughing. The eyes of the girl glued onto the two figures around the bilberry bush; they feel a growl hum in their throat. How fucking dare they make you smile like that. How dare you share a cigarette with her. Natalie is a fucking burnout and doesn’t have anything going for her. How is she going to protect you, take care of you? They would not take this at all, now that they have spent their whole life loving you. They back off the tree, stalking closer, leaning on the curve of the tree to be hidden in the moonlight. They watch and listen; if Natalie would learn and experience you, so were they.
You sat at your kitchen table, dressed in your black slip nightgown. You scroll over your emails, seeing the publisher's demands for you to finish quicker but also giving you “creative control”, and your manager asking you to tweet something about the upcoming book. You yawn as you start your day with a longish awkwardness and slowness.
Knock! Knock!
You sit up straight as you wrap the red blanket on your lap around your shoulder, you cover your thin legs as you walk to the front door. You rub the crust from your eye as you lazily open the door, greeted by the crisp spring morning air and freezing at the people that stood in front of you.
Big blue eyes lined thickly with eyeliner and black strands of hair over the matured face of Natalie Scat. Bouncing ashy blonde curls danced as Misty animatedly waved to you, greeting, “Good afternoon, (Y/n)! Sorry for stopping by unannounced, but we were in the neighborhood, and We needed to stop to a restroom, but we couldn’t find anywhere to go, so we came here.”
Your eyes hadn’t moved from Natalie’s since you opened the door; the past lingered, and who we once were to each other is always implied when we see each other. There was a ping from something deeper within you calling for you to say everything and nothing to her, your souls singing to each other privately.
You take a breath and look at Misty. It felt like moving a ton of weight off your chest to disconnect with the baby blues, but you knew better than to fall into them. You see how happy she was to see you and how her smile seemed to be wider than the ones on her social media. You smile back and quickly hug her, “Hey! Oh my god, Welcome in!” You say quickly and let them into your house.
Misty confidently strides into your home and looks around, commenting on how she remembered everything back in the day. The times after you all were rescued when Misty would come over after nursing school to chat comes to your mind, the moments of letting her into your only safe space and how kind she was to you. You couldn’t leave your family home after you came back home, you refused to step foot outside, and your dad didn’t fight you on it. You didn’t leave the house until you were 26, after years of slowly coming outside to parks and stores until you could live a “normal” life again. Misty was right there. She never wanted to be anywhere else it seemed, and you couldn’t get away from the deep loyalty you felt for her in some ways.
Natalie slowly comes into the house, she hesitates and looks around. She stands by the door as you point to the bathroom for Misty.
Natalie looks to the ground, almost unable to look up into your eyes again. She felt it too. She always felt that pull from your eyes, from your presence, and she knew that she had fucked it up in so many ways. And there you were, beautiful and safe, standing before her. You watch her eyes scan your floors and baseboards, “You look good, Nat.” You utter in the silence.
Natalie chuckled lowly, looking at you quickly and looking away. She was getting nervous being her, and she played it off in her way of being cagey. “Thanks.”
“Seriously. You’re not so pale. I never liked it when you were pale.” you confess, you push a hair behind your ear. Even after all these years, tenderness never died for her. You could never not love Natalie. “How are you doing?”
“I’m fine.”
“Okay.” You mutter and nod softly, a pain rings throughout your body at the base of your neck. You pull a little away from her and look down, feeling like a teenager again being rejected.
Natalie sighs softly, knowing how she is acting is unfair to you as it has always been. She looks at you with soft eyes. “I-I’m going to see Travis. Misty found where he lives, and we will go check on him.”
A marble rattles in your chest.
“Is it okay if I come?” You ask, not really knowing why you are asking her this. You don’t know why you want to come along. You shouldn’t. You need to finish your book. But you need this. “I’m free today, Misty asked about coffee. I’d love to get a coffee with you two.”
“Really? You want to come with me and Misty Quigley?” She teased, a rise from her eyebrow.
Yeah, why wouldn’t I? Wait a second!” You say and throw the blanket to the couch, wearing the slip and moving to your stairs quickly. “I’ll go get dressed. Don’t leave without me!”
You felt a rush of something you haven’t had in a long time. You felt the need to do this. To spend time with them and make up for something. Anything. You quickly dress in something comfy, you comb your hair. You hear a squeal from Misty downstairs and Natalie groaning back to her, you feel a smile coming to your face.
You look down at your phone before you leave your bedroom, and you see a simple text from Shauna that makes you chuckle.
Shauna: Jeff and Callie think I was joking about the rabbit and it’s still making me crack up  You: LOL! But does rabbit even taste good in chili? Shauna: Yes Shauna: You should try it sometime Shauna: still coming over next week?  You: Where else would I be? Love ❤️️
Misty’s feet carried her deeper into the woods to go to the bathroom. A grin on her face, tears coming down quickly down her round cheeks. She did it. She made a friend. A friend that loves her and hugs her.
Misty happily sits down and readies herself to go to the bathroom. The sound of a few girls pacing catches her ears.
It was Van and Mari praising Misty for taking control of the wounded and how they would be “lost without her”. Misty felt a rush of love pulse over her as she thinks about how this is the most love she has felt in such a long time.
Misty hasn’t been hugged in 130 days since today. It was Christmas day when her grandmother gave her a loving hug that she had wanted more than the VHS player and the newest The World Book Encyclopedia volume 11. She just wanted to relieve the itch on her skin that stained her and called her unwanted. She never felt loved. But she could at least be held, right?
Misty hadn’t felt that anyone had ever really seen her. When people see small things about her, they act like she is an outcast. Misty was scared to show herself, but she didn’t know how to hide it.
But you.
 You’ve seen her. You listened. You talked. You smiled. You loved.
So, when the blinking red light of the distress box lights the leaves of a bush that caught Misty’s eye. She knew what she had to do.
You finally were her friend. People finally seen her as important. She was needed.
Misty smashes the box with passion and rage. Like it was the thing that kept rejecting her all her life, not her mom, not her dad, not the yellowjackets, this fucking box.
Misty uses all her weight with a rock on the metal box, wiring exposed for her. She pulls it and kills the light. Pulling with the whining of old wires. Killing everyone’s chance to be rescued.
Misty did this for you. She knows you would leave her when high school ended. She knew everyone would treat her like nothing again. You were all that was important. Nothing. Just you.
Just you.
I'll take care of you! I'll love you. You'll want for nothing.
There was no return after befriending Misty Quigley.
No Return |chapter 1|
Paring- Lottie Matthews x reader
Word count-2k
notes- very excited to post this since i've been in a yellowjackets brainrot for two weeks
summary- You never make it to nationals.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Who the hell drinks Miller light?
You gagged at the taste. Not your beer of choice, obviously. You walk away from the keg and take in your surroundings. A bunch of horny and drunk assholes all trying to outdo one another. A couple of people eye you, wanting to snatch you away from the crowd. You don't care to. None of them are her.
None of them compared to Lottie Matthews.
Lottie. The girl who you have secretly been seeing for 2 months. The rich girl of Wiskayok. The two of you immediately clicked when you first joined the Yellowjackets as a halfback. Both of you playfully flirted and toed the line of friendship for months until Lottie got jealous when a baseball boy asked you out.
She pampers you, buying you lunch, paying to get your nails done, or even just little dates that she plans. She begs you to spend the night at her house every day, wanting to take full advantage of her parents' absence. She tried to pick you up for school, but you convinced her to let you do that. It gave you a reason to flaunt your dingy Mustang.
Like all teams, you are closer with some girls and not as close with others. You enjoy spending time with them all though, especially Shauna and Natalie. You loved every single one of your teammates, even Misty. Sure, you all have bumps in the road, like earlier tonight when everyone started fighting with each other until Jackie stepped in and forced everyone to talk it out. Taissa didn’t mean to cripple Allie. Accidents happen. Nationals is what matters.
“Hey pretty girl. Ready to head out?”
You smile at the sweet voice, turning to see Lottie beaming at you. Brown hair still perfectly styled, even after getting in between a group of fighting girls, “The other girls already left?”
She nodded, grabbing you by the hand, which to outsiders, seems like a normal platonic gesture between two teenagers. You let Lottie drag you to your car, which was tucked away in a secluded part of the area. You always tried to park away from everyone else whenever you heard your ex was going to be at the same event as you, he always tried to fuck with your car, as if he wasn't the one who cheated.
As soon as you tried opening the driver's side door, Lottie stopped you, blushing as she moved the passenger seat up, revealing the backrow of your Mustang. She silently slipped in the car, outstretching her hand to you.
“Are you sure? My Mustang isn’t exactly the most comfortable car to have a make out sesh in.” You said, giggling. Nevertheless, you took her hand, settling next to the taller girl. “Yeah, but it’s romantic.” She whined.
“Anything with you is romantic.”
You felt your heart quicken. Ah, Lottie. The sweet talker. The cramped space had the two of you squished together. The tinted windows ensured that no one would see inside the car. Lottie smiles slyly, eyes staring at your lips. The scent of her expensive perfume and cigarettes filled the air. Nothing can ever measure up to Lottie Matthews, she is perfect.
Lottie moves, her lips on yours. Her hand encasing your face. Both of you move in synch, mouths opening for one another, hot breaths fog the window as you push Lottie against the door. She grabs you by your shirt, desperately trying to bring you closer to her. Your mind is racing, you can’t get enough of her. She moves towards your neck, slightly biting. Wanting to claim you as hers. Her hands gripping every inch of your body. You gasp as slim fingers inch your shirt up, slowly creeping up towards your chest.
Lottie Lottie Lottie.
“I want more, (y/n).”
You pause, eyes opening to see Lottie bright red, heavily breathing. Her usual pristine hair messily framed her face.
Your chest tightened, knowing that you didn’t want your first time with Lottie to be in the backseat of your shitbox of a car, “Lotts...maybe..not here.” Her face falls, the usual smile replaced by quivering lips, her brown eyes avoid you.
“What did I do?” Her voice breaks your heart, she sounds so small.
“No! No, it’s not you, baby. I just don’t want us to-”
“Can we go?”
Before you could answer, she climbs to the front seat, smoothing out her skirt. You climb to the driver's side, starting the ignition. You glance at her, noticing her mascara smudge on her pink sweater. “Lottie, I didn’t mean to stop like that.”
She doesn’t respond, instead, she stares out the window, her body angled away from you.
Sighing, you shift the gear and take off, opting not to turn on the radio in case Lottie wants to speak to you. 10 minutes into driving you notice little sniffles coming from your girlfriend, “Lottie, seriously. Please talk to me,” No luck. “I’m sorry.”
You pull up to the driveway of her house, her parents aren’t home. Again. “Do you want me to stay with you?” She shakes her head, turning towards you, “I need to be alone.”
Ouch.
“Okay.” You say, ignoring the way your eyes burn with embarrassment for ruining the moment.
Lottie hesitantly kisses your cheek, “I’m not mad, you didn’t want to. It’s me, I'm being stupid. I didn’t mean to act like that, I’m sorry.” She grabs your hand, voice small, yet still soothing. “I know what you mean, though. We shouldn’t have sex in your car.”
You giggle, “Poor car can only handle so much. Go inside, Lottie. We still have to wake up early for the plane ride.”
She smiles, tears still flowing, she quickly kisses you, “Goodnight, (y/n).”
You wait for her to get inside before you drive off, you speed home, double checking your luggage for the trip. You start doing your bed routine, shower, skin, vitamins. You slip in bed, drifting to sleep.
——-
Late. Of course. You are late.
Your mom drove you to the airport, weaving in and out of traffic, dropping you off at the private part of the airport. She gave you a kiss goodbye before you ran into the terminal where the rest of your teammates laughed as you entered.
“Way to be on time, (Y/n)” Taissa joked, “What? Lottie didn’t feel like giving you a ride?”
“Your mom.”
“That doesn’t even make sense.”
Lottie slipped next to you, rolling her eyes, “I offered.” She nudged you slightly, “Want to sit with me?”
“Sure-”
“Hey Lottie, sorry to wisk (Y/n) away. She was supposed to help me with my Anthropology homework,” Natalie said as she punched your arm, “Don’t worry, I can only stand her for so long. You can have her on the ride back.”
You and Nat laughed, pushing one another. Failing to realize the way Lottie glared at the two of you. “That’s fine.”
You grabbed Lottie by the shoulders, maneuvering her towards the plane's entrance. Obviously, you can’t kiss her. No, you can’t tell her how beautiful she looks in her jacket right now, but you can touch, playfully. No one would look twice at you two.
Everyone enters the plane, thanking Lottie’s family for providing the private plane, she shrugs at that. Bitterly saying that this is the closest thing they’ll do for parenting. You squeeze her shoulder, loading up your bags in the overhead bin. “I’ll sit in the row next to you so we can still be close.”
She smiles, “I love that.”
You let Nat take the window seat, you sit next to her, fighting for the shared arm rest.
“Girls.”
“Sorry coach.” Natalie Snickers.
You shoot a small smile at Lottie, who looks around to make sure no one is watching as she blows a kiss towards you.
“Dude. Why is Anthropology a thing? It’s dumb.” Nat says. The plane has only been in the air for an hour. Laughing echos around the cabin, you can hear Van throwing paper balls at Mari. Misty sits by herself. Shauna and Jackie are already asleep. The other girls on the plane chat with one another, excitedly talking about Nationals.
You roll your eyes at the shorter girl, “It’s easy, idiot.”
“No, it’s-”
A sudden jolt shuts the two of you up. At first you think it’s turbulence. You lean over Natalie, lifting the shade of the window up. Your breath hitches, fear engulfs you. The wing of the plane is on fire.
The wing of the fucking plane is on fire.
The plane jolts again, this time, the lights go out, oxygen masks drop from overhead, screams fill the cabin. You fearfully look at Nat, she stares back at you, eyes filled with terror. You help her put on her oxygen mask, neglecting your own. You quickly unfasten your seatbelt, thrashing as you stand up against the shaking of the plane. You grab onto the seat in front of you, slowly moving towards the row in front of you.
“(Y/n), what are you doing? Sit the fuck down!” Natalie yells, trying to grab you, “Fuck, Stop!”
You avoid her hand, leaning behind Lottie’s seat, forcing the oxygen mask on her.
“(Y/n)! Oh my god. What the hell? Sit down, please!” Lottie tries to pull you in the row, her grip tight as she uses all her strength to hold you upright against the violent tremble. You try to hold yourself up, hopelessly letting go of Lottie’s hand, falling to the floor of the plane.
“(Y/n)!”
Screams are becoming louder; you can see Lottie fighting with her seatbelt, never taking her eyes off you. Coach Martinez forces her to sit down, she fights him, pointing at you. He darts towards you, picking you up by your arm and tossing you in a seat, forcing the oxygen mask on you. He makes rounds again, checking on his sons.
You panic, looking at the scared faces of your friends as you feel the plane descending wildly into a wooded area. You make desperate eye contact with Misty before a piece of metal slams into your head.
Darkness engulfs you.
———
“Wake up!”
Everything hurts.
“Please, wake up (Y/n)!”
You feel hands gripping you, throwing you around. The pain coming from your head is unbearable. The smell of smoke fills the air, you force your eyes open, staring straight at a panicked, but uninjured Lottie.
“Oh my god, oh my god. Babe, we got to go, now!” She uses her height to lift you up, she's saying words that you can’t make out. Blood gushes from your head, obscuring your vision. She lets you go for a moment, helping the other girls get the door of the plane open, fire is spreading all around you. You can hear Shauna and Natalie shout as the door opens, all the girls tumbling out of it. Lottie pulls you with her, until you hear Van screaming for help.
You and Shauna both look back. Shauna rushes towards Van, Jackie begging her to stop. You look at Lottie, quickly pushing her out the door.
You shut the door on Lottie, tuning out her screams for you.
You sprint towards Van, ignoring the pain that flares up every time you move. Shauna fights with Vans seatbelt, you join her, tugging on it with all the strength you have. The fire is moving closer to all of you. Vans cries intensify, panicking at the thought of dying. You barely notice Jackie pulling Shauna away, she tries to pull you away too, begging you to come. You can’t, no, you won’t leave Van to die. You brush off her hand, Shauna screams fade as Jackie drags her out the plane.
“Please, help!”
You grip her seatbelt tighter, forcefully ripping it from the connection. You grab Van, feeling fire already engulfing the sleeve of your blouse. The Both of you tumble out of the plane, barely avoiding getting blown up in the process. Your back meets the ground with a hard thud.
You gasp, eyes adjusting to the sunlight. You lay in the dirt, the screaming is around you again. You can’t see the scene, only the blue sky. You want to sleep. You’re tired.
Your hearing is muffled, but you can make out her voice anywhere. She’s looking for you.
Lottie, I'm okay.
“(Y/n), where are you!?”
You want to respond, but you can’t.
The world goes dark again.
“You have got to do pink lipstick – and then layer with some sort of shimmering lipgloss.” Jackie mumbled, her breath hitting your face while she plucked your eyebrows with alarming precision.
The music was lulling softly out of the speakers of her old radio, a pop tune by an artist you couldn’t quite identify despite the name being at the tip of your tongue and the room was warm, embedded in soft golden lighting and smelling like the vanilla and apple caramel candles that Jackie had lit.
You frowned at Jackie’s words, moving your head slightly out of her grasp - her hands followed, cupping your cheeks and smoshing them together.
“C’mon do not give me that pouty face! Tonight might be the night, aren’t you excited?” - she exclaimed, getting back to her proficient (albeit painful) work.
“I guess,” you replied “it’s just that… I mean, I’m nervous that’s all - what if like, I do something wrong?” the last words were whispered leaving your mouth with uncertainty.
“Whatever could you do wrong? You are a pretty girl and any guy would be very lucky to kiss you – there is no “wrong”, – she stepped away, making air quotes with her fingers – in this kind of thing, it’s very natural and trust me, by what Jeff said the guy isn’t even all that experienced, he will probably just leave the party feeling pretty lucky to have kissed a cute girl and brag about it to his friends for like, a week, and that’s it.”
“Jesus, I don’t want him to talk to his friends! Probably gonna tell them how I can’t french kiss and make disgusting comments – oh man I really don’t feel like doing this.” You groaned felling your face warming up with embarrassment.
Jackie stared at you, her brown eyes twinkling in confusing, “I thought you liked the guy, you were so excited at school, talking about getting you first kiss and all that;” - she breathed in, tucking some strands of hair behind your ear and continued - “look the entire team is gonna be there and you don’t have to feel pressured to do anything, besides, if you are that desperate, I can show you some stuff.”
“Some stuff?” you inquired, tilting your head, lips parting slightly.
“Yeah, some stuff,” she laughed “I can kiss you, tell you what to do and not do, it won’t even count as a first kiss because were both girls see? So you can still have you first with Jeff’s guy – what has his name again? Andrew? Something with an A for sure…”
She was lost in thought, trying to recall whatever’s name as you stared at her, at her black floral dress, her heart pendent, her rosy cheeks – and soft pink lips.
“Sure, that would be nice,” you ended up saying, snapping her out of her thoughts, her brown eyes melting at your words “besides, it’s what you said, it won’t even count cuz we are both girls, right?”
“Yeah,” she said, pursing her lips. She sat up straight “alright, close your eyes, get ready,” she whispered has you did just that, letting your lashes flutter shut “so, he is probably gonna lean in fast – he is gonna be nervous the first time, so you got to be ready, its crucial for his ego – and brush his lips against yours.”
Jackie closed the gap, your lips touching, ghosting, softly brushing against eachother – then without warning she pressed her lips against yours in a long peck, her gloss sticking on to your mouth.
You could feel her warmth and your hands were hitching to grab her and pull her closer, to tangle themselfs in her auburn hair, destroying the curls she had spent so much time perfecting.
She moved away, frazzled, and got closer to you on the pink duvet cover of the bed, grabbing you by the neck and mumbling lowly, “Now I’m gonna use some tongue,” another mumble “so follow my lead.”
Your lips joined, once more, but now she was moving them, velvety and slow, on instinct (I guess after all kissing was truly natural) you opened your mouth, letting her tongue slip inside meeting yours - both meshing in wanton need.
You could feel her body pressing down on yours so, ever so slowly, you lowered yourself on to the bed, her lips never leaving yours – she has on top of you, holding your cheeks, your legs were tangled together and one of your hands rested on her back, the other in her head.
She pulled back, both of you breathing heavy, her hand brushing through your face and your eyes meeting eachother in an deep understanding you couldn’t quite get – and then she has on you again, her lips, her hands, her heat, her smell, the artificial taste of her lipgloss that you could feel on tip of your tongue along with the brush of her long eyelashes on your cheeks, when she drew in closer.
The two of you did not stop, both in a warm rosy bubble of softness and despair until the honk of Shauna’s car sounded outside, the noise slipping through the window and awakening you out of your drunken stupor.
Quickly and muffled you heard the steps of Mr. Taylor on the first flight of the stairs calling for you and Jackie to get down – the room has cold now, evolved in blue light and the smell of the candles has beginning to be too much; breathing heavily Jackie rolled of the top of you, you watched her has she got up, shaking her curls, now messy with hairs standing up, and breathed in a laugh.
“Oh my God, we haven’t even finish your makeup.” she seemed frazzled looking around her room for something, anything “Shauna is here so early! Jesus, what time even his it?” turning around she grabbed her dainty alarm clock, checking the time.
“10:38? Ok, I can work with that, I’m gonna tell Shauna to come up, there’s is still time to fix your hair and do the eyeshadow.” she steeped closer passing her hands through your head – they were shaking, you tried to catch her eyes but she turned grabbing her jacket and heading for the bedroom door.
“I’m gonna go downstairs,” her hand was curled tightly around the doorknob and she gave you a tilted smile “please curl your lashes and start painting you nails, that way it’s going to be much quicker, and we can get there on time.”
With that she left, leaving you on the bed, watching the shadows of the room and staring at the snuffed-out candles, burnt all the way out.
