The concept of Damian growing up with a Muslim shower(bidet) as he grew up in a Arabic country and just talia packing him an empty bottle(if yanno , yanno) and telling him to use this to go to the bathroom in his European tour or however he really to the Manor, with a separate Muslim shower attachment (for when he get to the manor for installment) as well and like poor bby dami confused and asks his mother if it is a training exercise and Talia just freaking longs sighs and says that the west doesn't have Muslim showers like us and they u paper to clean there butt and
DAMI JUST HORRIFEID LIKE NO WATER ???
AND LIKE HES WILLING TO BEG UMMI NOT TO SEND HIM. And then he's like but my FATHER(baba) would not be stupid enough right he must be rich enough to use water to "do the stuff right " and once again he is disappointed
And like in the background Jason had his dip already sneaks into the league to like steal a Muslim shower for himself (he grew up on the street he has to feel clean or ptsd yanno) and Ra's is so proud that ATLEST SOMEONE from the west cherises cleanliness and doesn't even care abt hurting Jason (he's like a scientist showing of his discovery) like HERE U WANT ONE TAKE IT,I HAVE A GOLD PLATED ONE TO TAKE THAT TO. Like just Muslim shower appreciation bro and Eastern culture to but mostly Muslim shower
Also the food don't get me started on that bby used to having whole a** chilies but like he's comes to USA and EVERYTHING IS SO BLAND W H Y. He has to call his mother and ask her with increasing desperation if he can come back and to at least send him a cook he is a prince after all.
Everybody at the Manor is confused abt him not eating food and putting hot sauce on everything because that's what he has been led to THE HORROR. Alfreds British and even after all that colonization BY TRADING FREAKING SPICE through the subcontinent their food is still pretty bland and Dami is so salty abt this to Alfred
Dami: Ummi these people don't even know what seasoning is, Ummi. Plz is this punishment for the time my tiger ate your dress mother. Father(baba) doesn't even know how to install a Muslim shower Ummi
And talia amused on the inside and telling to preservere and think of it as training
And just yeah a biracial person guide to THE WEST
I would like LOVEEEE to read a comic written by a Eastern writer about Damian having to adapt to the west and that being harder then any training cus he like are these people senile or poor to wipe ther butt with paper and to think that mandi (pretty sure there might be veggie options in this to) is just orange friend rice to them like where is the FLAVOUR 🤌

im happy my post is garnering discussion but honestly i wasnt around for 2018-2021 fandom on tumblr and i was mainly talking about how its kind of silly to get mad at people for portraying colonizer countries as mean, or calling it demonization and stuff. like its okay not to like personally portraying ur fav characters as mean or part of the state, but getting irritated at the fact that it exists or is popular imo kind of misses the fact that this… is the state and nation personification fandom. and its hard to say its not canon when canon did once portray the characters in uniform and at times involved in their state activities… like the early strips discussing western imperialism in china is literally ‘china being bullied by the allies’ ‘france wanting to grope china’ ‘china being treated like a maid’ etc etc like they were very much. the state LOL also china and japan’s canon relationship, as much as I have my issues with it, has an entire thing about china being stabbed by japan… i do feel like hetalia started out as a history nerd’s history exploration that blended humour with ‘what i find cute’ with satire etc etc, which inevitably involves illustrating the personifications as vessels of state and culture, and although the modern strips have deviated quite a bit… well, different people will approach this series for different reasons, right? Whether its serious or comedic content showing the characters as mean or imperialist or unpleasant, it’s not something that deviates too far from canon (if we take all canon eras into consideration) nor is it surprising given how history laden the topic is.

I love love love new vegas its my fav game EVER but I gotta say that like the way fandom behaves about the honest hearts dlc really does show me how the nuance and subtext themes of this game really fly over ppls heads, maybe its cause im hyper aware of all things mormon but at the heart of the dlc its about a war mongering racist who thinks its his divine purpose to deal with “savage” tribal natives.
Youre not supposed to think he’s based just because he’s an enemy to the legion, the POINT of introducing him to the overall narrative is to reiterate the point that war never changes. Joshua Graham is SUCH a cool character, hes got a lot you can dive into and think about but i’m kinda sick of his fanonized portrayal of “im a good person, who has to do bad things” hes more like “i was a terrible person, I’m still a terrible person” Theres much to discuss when it comes to the mormon themes and like church beginnings, my god can I go off about like mormons and their stupid fucking tribes omg. This DLC kinda has a jokey message once its boiled down to its basics, its poking fun at stupid white mormons in a meta way. Just because Graham spits out some baller lines doesnt mean he’s cool and good. Hes… racist with deeply racist beliefs and ideals, hes MORMON lol.

what series do you think examined motherhood as a role well? im super interested
It is Moral Orel (which is a claymated series from 2006 that I find intriguing for… a number of reasons), and though it did not actually do anything unique with the IDEA of a Mother, within the framework of it being a parody and examination of the staunchly religious white middle class of the era, it affords its female characters the same depth as the male ones and manages to depict how the ideal of Maternity in that culture is intertwined with ruinous expectations of femininity. Bloberta worst wife ever . She places all of her self-worth on wanting to be a traditional domestic servant because of a whole slew of reasons related to alcoholism, growing up in a dysfunctional family, to lacking a sense of self-worth, and the horrible environment she’s enmeshed in. It’s actually really poignant to see her role in her own downfall while the writing maintains how she still cares about her children.
