Revelations and Heartbreaks by Xavierurban (@atasteforsuicidal) - okay yeah it's jaytim smut BUT it's also incredibly beautiful in the way that it's written and the exploration of trust in their relationship and also the two of them and their devotion to each other is just *mwah* literally perfect, it makes me auruhahruahrgargagrgarhaurarhuahruahr I think about this fic so often. 14. how do you write emotional scenes? Do you ever feel what the characters feel? Do you draw from personal experiences?

I start with a clear idea of the conversation at the beginning and where the conversation is going to progress the story, and where each character is at emotionally. Then I have a few moments of inspiration on dialogue that I know I need somewhere in the scene, and then I start moving through the scene in order. I start working through the emotional shifts, I let the feelings grow or shrink or snap into place, and I usually am guided by what each character wants. It's always important to me that I know what each character feels at the start of the scene, what they want, and what they're afraid of.

I wouldn't say I feel what they feel exactly. I put myself in their shoes and think about what they're feeling, and I feel for them, but I don't actually feel upset if they're upset, etc. I definitely draw from personal experience sometimes, but not always. I do it the most with Tim for sure!

55. Of the characters you write for, which is your favorite? Has that choice been swayed at all by your followers/readers’ reactions to certain ones?

Okay, for the last two years I definitely would have said Tim because he just comes so naturally to me and people really respond so kindly to the way I write him, but currently my favorite is definitely Damian. There is something about writing him specifically for me that lets me access a very poetic voice that I just wouldn't use when it comes to Tim or Jason, and I really love the way his voice comes out when I write it.

Also maybe I just need a little break from writing Tim since I've posted over 200k words from his perspective in the last yearish okay

67. Do you prefer prompts and challenges, or completely independent ideas?

I actually don't really have a preference!! I preferred prompts when I didn't have any ideas and was worried I would never have anything to write ever again after Rooftops & Bookshops, and then. well. you saw the ask where I listed my wips the other day right? lol yeah now I don't prefer one over the other!

I feel like we as a society have somewhat moved past the pressure on women to have to wear makeup and look dressed up. Feminism and the body positivity movement have got us here. I've come to a realization though. The internet has replaced it with skin care and grooming. It's the same pressure on women (sometimes men, but mainly women) to look perfect, but the popular way to go about it is no longer to cover it up with makeup or to just in general look dressed a certain way. Now it's like every imperfection has to be fixed at its core. More things about our natural bodies are becoming seen as imperfections to fix. Shrink your pores here, remove this hair here, try to grow more hair here, remove this dead skin here, remove this natural smell here, make your hair more curly, make your hair more straight, remove your cuticles this way, use this nail oil here, use these seven body products in the shower, use these five hair products in the shower, etc etc etc. Most, or just some, of these things may in and of themselves be good for your body, but I just noticed that from influencers and brands it's just a nonstop flood of this stuff over and over again. Every day there's a new thing I didn't know I should do that involves products they're trying to sell me. It's the same pressure and expectation on women to be perfect, just masked as skin/body/hair care. I don't want another influencer to convince me to spend money in some way to fix myself again.

I bought some records (it's 12 I bought 12 I have a problem) almost a month ago on ebay but the seller got covid and couldn't go to the post office. he's finally negative and shipped them today! those were the last records I let myself buy for now* so I'm excited to finally get them!

I also bought an adapter for my turntable so I can finally play my 7 inch records (they're all Toto singles and I only bought them because of the covers but I might as well listen to them) but they sent me the wrong colour so they're refunding me the money, which is great. today is a nice day 😌

*I bought more after that anyway 😔 we went to two record stores and I bought seven there. and two more online that I've wanted for a while (those were new, so I have three that aren't from before the 90s now. they're also my first coloured records and they look delicious and I want to eat them.)
