#it was also supposed to draw a more obvious difference between Izuku and the other boys of his class and more specifically ALLMIGHT.

Mha fandom when you say that Izuku’s biggest fic mischaracterization isn’t making him twinky:
Tumblr media
WHEN DID BEING A TWINK BECOME A BAD THING CAN I JUST ASK THAT
Like yes, twinkifying one male character in a ship can be annoying—it can perpetuate heterosexual roles onto same sex relationships (“who’s the woman in the relationship/who wears the pants in the relationship?”), BUT LET US BE CLEAR:
TWINKS ARE A PART OF THE QUEER COMMUNITY. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH BEING A TWINK, MAKING A CHARACTER A TWINK, OR SEEING A CHARACTER AS A TWINK.
WHEN in the ever loving FUCK did that somehow translate into “the twink has to be the stereotypically aggressive one so it doesn’t abide by queer stereotypes”. HOW DID WE GET HERE.

I kinda wonder, what could bakugou do (hori write bakugou to do) to make him less popular with the "anti" crowd. Like He was a horrid child no doubt and people who try to put blame on Deku or lessen the terrible shit bakugou did aren't great. But as we don't rly see it, we have to assume bakugous behaviour wasn't stopped, we only ever saw his mum "punishing" him when he was being rude after getting kiddnapped. Nothing will excuse what bakugou did, but he has stopped? He's overall a harsh person but he's not harrassing and bullying people anymore, specifically not deku, he's trying to attone for what he did to deku and has now apologised for it. His behaviour was never viewed as justified or good in the series, he's a scary figure in middle school, we're not meant to like his behaviour, so the series itself hasn't justified his actions.
As someone who relate to both bakugou and deku more than I'd like to admit (never told someone to jump tho, that's fucked lol) so I can 100% understand not liking or even hating bakugou but as someone who's not 15 anymore, looking back I also made a lot of really shitty decisions and like bakugou have tried to make up for it, and like deku I was 'friends' with people who hurt me.
Is there anything he can do for the "antis" to just dislike him rather that be "anti"?
(I'm very sorry if you've talked about this somewhere, you can just tell me to look for it if you have, I'll continue to look for your posts on the subject)
Hey there, anon! I think I’ve spoken about this only tangentially and/or in my main Bakugo meta, which is too big for anyone sane to read. So yeah, let’s chat here!
For me personally—and that’s all I can ever do: speak personally. I think it’s important to keep in mind that there is no single solution to please the “anti” crowd. Each fan will be looking for something slightly different in Bakugo’s character, much of which might contradict what a “stan” is currently enjoying. Given how charged a character he is, I'm not sure it's possible to get the entire fandom to like him—what I’m looking for hinges on having a different reading of the story than you seem to. Meaning, I think the series does justify his behavior. Not in any overt, super obvious way like having all the characters go, “Wow, Bakugo! I sure do love how you threaten people all the time. That’s super cool and heroic!” Things are rarely that straightforward. Rather, it’s in a more subtle, but consistent manner that paints a rather conclusive picture across hundreds of chapters.
Simply put, Bakugo is continually rewarded for his actions. Or, if not outright rewarded, his actions are ignored in a way that implies silent acceptance. Characters may not always like what he does... but they're willing to let it slide because Bakugo's heroism was always treated as a given, not something he had to earn and prove.
With the ever necessary disclaimer that I’m not fully caught up yet, here’s a list of some of the things that stood out to me in the first half of the series:
Bakugo’s bullying made him the most popular kid in school.
Bakugo’s bullying was ignored by/outright supported by the teachers.
Bakugo’s bullying did not hinder him from getting into U.A., one of the most prestigious hero schools around.
Despite acting horribly throughout his time at U.A. too, this behavior was continually ignored by the teachers and other authority figures around him.
Bakugo’s struggle to realize that other people aren’t “trash” doesn’t hurt his achievements in any way. He still gets top scores, still wins the tournament, etc.
Bakugo’s behavior gets him special attention from All Might, the greatest hero and Bakugo’s personal idol.
His behavior doesn’t make others dislike him in any manner that’s taken seriously. Everybody is still willing to not just put up with Bakugo, but—in time—start treating his behavior as a quirk (no pun intended lol) that they’re secretly fond of, rather than something he should legitimately be striving to change. Kirishima is the most overt example of this.
This is compounded by his behavior constantly being framed as humorous. Much like with Mineta’s perverted actions, characters might superficially go, “No, that’s bad!” but the story never demands any significant development because then we’d lose the “joke” of Bakugo screaming in rage at the slightest inconvenience, threatening to murder someone over nothing, constantly belittling everyone around him in a “funny” manner, etc. When fans talk about development of a manga character as archetypal and extreme as Bakugo, most don’t really want to see significant change to his base personality. Because then that would result in someone who doesn’t look like the “real” Bakugo: someone nicer, more even-tempered, more mature, etc. But for those of us who were never drawn to that personality in the first place, the continued acceptance of his rude, egotistical, and violent behavior is discomforting. The easiest comparison I can draw is between this and Bakugo’s mother slapping him. That slap is meant to be another “joke”—we see it constantly in shonen anime, something "humorous" you shouldn’t take too seriously because haha, it's just an overprotective mother—but many fans do take it seriously, using it as the basis for a whole “Bakugo was abused and this explains his behavior” reading. Well, I take the “joke” of Bakugo’s threats and insults seriously, especially in a story that starts with something like telling Izuku to jump off the roof. In the same way that many fans want others to treat Bakugo’s mother as a serious topic that has had a negative influence on his development, I want the series to take Bakugo’s everyday actions seriously as a negative influence on… well, everyone around him. But it doesn’t. His base personality is grudgingly adored.
The above two points are seen most overtly in Izuku, who never wavers in his respect for Bakugo despite how Bakugo treats him. Not just prior to U.A., but during their training too. Izuku, as the protagonist, is the emotional heart of this tale, so when he talks about how inspiring Bakugo is, it encourages the reader to see his behavior as inspiring too. Rather than, as said, something that needs to change. Izuku's continued friendship with Bakugo, his adoration of him, and his acceptance of the way he's treated has severely warped how the entire story sees Bakugo's actions. After all, if #pure Izuku can see the good in Bakugo, why can't everyone else? He must not be that bad after all.
I could get into detailed analyses of all the above—like how Bakugo was the one comforted after attacking Izuku outside the dorms at night and how the messed up relationship he has with Izuku is upheld as something to nurture; how the remedial courses he had to take were made to be rather silly, thereby undermining their supposed importance to his development; how Bakugo’s kidnapping had nothing to do with his flaws, but much of the fandom uses it as a way to dismiss any appropriate consequences because, “Hasn’t he suffered enough?” etc.—but in the interest of keeping this within a readable length, I’ll leave it at that. The point is that Bakugo has always been privileged when it comes to his behavior, resulting in others either outright praising it, ignoring it, or demanding that he change a miniscule bit, which always keeps him far below the standards of both his peers and the expectations of a hero. Everyone in 1-A must learn to be even better than the good people they already are... Bakugo needs to learn that other people aren't dirt at the bottom of his shoes. It's never been a particularly impressive development when pit against the rest of the class. All of which can make something like an apology feel pretty hollow. Yes, he’s apologized and I say with all seriousness that that’s great! But how does that apology stack up against 300+ chapters of content? As Bakugo’s words highlight, he's been a really awful person up "until now": he was consumed by Izuku being “miles ahead of [him],” he “looked down on [him]” because he didn’t have a quirk, he “didn’t want to recognize that,” he “hated that,” “grew distant,” “tried to beat you down,” “opposed you and tried to show my superiority over you,” and ends it all with, “it probably doesn’t mean anything telling you all this” before finally getting to the “I’m sorry.” This is basically a laundry list of how horrible a person Bakugo has been for the entire series, with an acknowledgement that this apology is coming really, really late. This is the moment where I could START to like Bakugo, depending on how he acts form here on out, but that pivotal moment arrived after six years of content and in the final arc of the story. It’s too late. Bakugo needed this kind of self-reflection and positive action 250+ chapters ago so he could (hopefully) grow into a better person across the story, not at the story's end. What we got instead is 322 chapters of him being a really horrible person, but the story going out of its way to excuse or even praise that behavior the majority of the time.
As a quick comparison to end on, I think what Bakugo needed was what Soo Jin got in True Beauty. You don’t need to have seen the drama to follow along. The tl;dr is that she has a lot of the core qualities of Bakugo: an all-consuming drive to win that was created due to abusive parents with high expectations, resulting in her bullying a peer to a pretty horrific extent. The difference between them is how the story frames their actions. When Soo Jin becomes the bully she loses everything. Rather than succeeding academically, her grades plummet, making it clear that this anxiety and self-doubt (things the fandom keeps insisting Bakugo is struggling with, but that rarely ever show up in the text) is actually impacting her day-to-day life. Her best friend drops her because she’s not going to support her choices. The boy she likes rejects her. She’s eventually forced to start over somewhere new - which importantly separates her from the girl she was bullying - and get some distance from her parents, resulting in the growth needed to become a healthier, happier, good person again. So when Soo Jin apologizes to the girl she hurt, it feels earned. The story continually recognized how horrific her actions were and put her into a place where she either had to change, or continue losing at everything else that was important to her. Bakugo? Bakugo doesn’t lose. Oh, he claims he does because he’s comparing himself to Izuku constantly, but that’s just him thinking in extremes. He still wins academically. Still wins many battles. Still wins at having friends. Still wins by maintaining the prestige of being a U.A. student. Still wins by getting All Might’s attention. Still wins by receiving Izuku’s respect and an agreement to maintain this rivalry that Bakugo is so obsessed with. Bakugo comes out well 99% of the time, he just thinks he's "lost" because he can't stand not being the absolute best.
For me, the story needed to have Bakugo face consequences for his behavior, not receive rewards and/or have others ignore it, and that revelation/apology needed to come way, way sooner. For me the issue is not a specific action that Horikoshi can have Bakugo do in the next chapter and them bam, I like him now. The problem is Bakugo’s entire concept, how he’s received by the entire cast, and his run across this entire series. "Entire" is the key word there. Which is why the “But he’s apologized. What more do you antis want?” reactions don’t sit well. What we wanted is a better written redemption arc across those 300+ chapters, not a single scene that’s meant to have us forget all the other problems inherent in the story. At this point it’s a far more complicated situation than, “Bakugo just needs to do X, Y, and Z and then we’re golden.” At the end of the day, Horikoshi failed to make me like him as a person and I’m pretty sure he isn’t going to change Bakugo enough to make him likable to me. Bakugo was never the sort of character I’d be inclined towards without a serious, nuanced redemption arc, but sadly, a core, crucial part of that redemption arc took six years to arrive. At this point there’s no way to change the problems in Bakugo’s writing for that huge chunk of the series and not enough time left in the series, it seems, to do the work we should have seen across the entire run. Honestly, idk if the Bakugo we'll get going forward is someone I can just dislike as opposed to being really uncomfortable with, but my money is on there being too little story left and too much investment in upholding Bakugo's base personality for that to happen. I could absolutely be proven wrong! But I think the problems are structural and needed to be better dealt with from page one, not hastily patched over in the final hour.

BakuDeku Winter Week 1 - Reparations
"I'm home."
There's no reply to Katsuki's words. Granted, they were quiet enough that they might have gotten lost under the music playing softly in the living room. It's been a long day and he's too tired to even speak at his usual volume. The 'heroing' part of the day went fine; it's filling out forms afterward that completely fries his brain. He thought he was done with useless paperwork when he graduated from U.A.. No such luck. And to top it all, the unseasonable spring heat has been horrendous. It's helpful for his quirk, sure, but after a point it's just oppressive.
He's late enough that he'd have expected dinner to be waiting for him, or to have received a request from his nerd to pick up takeout on the way home. But there are no yummy smells to greet him--not even burnt ones as sometimes happen--and it looks like if he wants food he'll have to work on that himself. Any other night it'd be fine, but he's tired enough that the prospect isn't all that appealing.
Although...
That deep-seated tiredness seems to melt away when he walks into the living room to find Deku reclining on the couch with his back to the armrest and one of his notebooks propped up on his raised knees. He's wearing that too big, slightly misshapen wool sweater in All Might's costume colors, the one Katsuki always teases him about. How he can bear to wear that warm thing in this weather, Katsuki has no idea.
"Used to be, you'd be all over me when I walked in the door," Katsuki says with a mock-wounded look as he approaches the couch. "I guess the honeymoon phase is over, huh?"
Deku blinks those big eyes up at him a couple of times.
"Oh, hi Kacchan," he says with a small smile. "I didn't hear you come in."
Katsuki snorts. That much was obvious. Climbing over the end of the couch, he crawls up to Deku, pushing his knees apart to settle between them, unceremoniously dropping the notebook and pen he takes from Deku to the floor.
"Hey, wait, I was--"
Katsuki silences what was coming next by pressing his mouth to Deku's. He suddenly feels a lot better, but there's still room for improvement.
He lifts his mouth and body off Deku's just enough that he has room to tug at the sweater to get to the delicious, warm skin beneath.
"Kacchan, please be careful," Deku mumbles.
"Careful about what? You're not as breakable as you used to be."
Even with Deku helpfully lifting his hips to free the bit of sweater stuck under his ass, Katsuki has to work hard to get it off him. It's caught underneath him, but one last tug--
"What... What was that?”
Deku sits up properly now, dislodging Katsuki from his lap even as he reclaims the sweater from him with shaky hands, a steady stream of "No, no, please no" rising from his lips.
"What's gotten into you?" Katsuki asks, frowning.
"It felt like..."
He falls silent as his fingers find the large rip on the back, longer than Katsuki's hand, multiple strands of frayed wool hanging loose. His expression is one of pure grief; Katsuki's stomach twists unpleasantly.
"I asked you to be careful," Deku murmurs, and Katsuki knows that tone of voice. Years ago, it'd have been accompanied by tears. Deku doesn't cry so much anymore... But it doesn't make things any better when he's really upset. He just clams up, and fuck knows what Katsuki can do to fix it when it happens.
"It's just a cheesy old sweater, " he mutters. "I'll get you one from my merch line. Better quality and better colors."
His pointed look dares Deku to protest that--they once spent a very pleasant night arguing about costume colors in between rounds of fucking, and Katsuki wouldn't mind a repeat. But when he crawls back up Deku's body again, when he slides a hand over Deku's ridiculously tight abs, Deku slaps his hand away and shimmies out from under Katsuki until he can stand, still clutching the mangled sweater.
"It was Toshinori's," he says in a cold voice, glaring at Katsuki.
It's so rare to see Deku direct actual anger toward him that Katsuki's old defenses go back up instantly. Stinging words fall from his lips before he even knows he's speaking.
"Stealing from other people's closets? And here I thought you only stole my clothes. I guess I'm not that special, huh?"
Deku's gaze hardens just a little more, and Katsuki almost expects lightning to start coursing over his body. His voice is cold enough that it could put IcyHot's quirk to shame.
"He gave it to me. It was sample merch that never got mass produced because it was handmade and too complicated to bring to market. He kept it because he said it fit him in both his forms. He thought I'd get a kick out of having it in my collection, so when he was cleaning up his things before ... He gave it to me. And you just ruined it when I asked you to be careful. But it's not like you've ever cared about my stuff anyway, is it?"
It hurts.
It hurts because it's true--or was true. Watching Deku walk away, listening to his heavy feet and the banging of their bedroom door, Katsuki can't help but remember other instances when he broke or destroyed Deku's things just because he could. The fact that today it was an accident doesn't make it any less his fault.
Katsuki groans and runs a hand over his face. He really fucked up.
He'd like nothing more than to follow Deku and not let him walk away from him--how things have changed… But then what? 'Sorry' doesn't feel like it'd be nearly enough, and Katsuki doesn't know what else he's supposed to say.
Tired steps take him to the kitchen. He stands in front of the open fridge for a while before pulling out the ingredients for katsudon. He's really not in the mood to cook, but he doesn't know what else to do.
He's just about done frying the pork and already filling up two bowls when slow steps come up behind him. He glances back at Deku, who stands there in a t-shirt inscribed with the words 'boyfriend shirt', his hands in his pockets.
"I'm so--" he starts, but Katsuki doesn't let him finish.
"Swear to god, Deku, if you try to apologize I'm shoving my foot up your ass."
Deku frowns at him.
"That's what grow-ups do, Kacchan. When they say something ugly or something they don't mean, or when they do something they shouldn't, they apologize."
"And what good does that do?" Katsuki mutters as he tops the bowls of food with the pork cutlets and places both on their small kitchen table. "Words won't knit your sweater back together. Sit down."
Taking his own advice, he draws a chair and sits. He fiddles with his chopsticks until Deku sighs and sits across from him.
"Itadakimasu," he says quietly, his eyes on his food.
Katsuki grunts in reply and watches him take a couple of bites before he asks, his voice tight and low, "Can it be repaired?"
Deku shrugs a little, and briefly looks up.
"I doubt it. It's a big rip. It's my fault, I noticed a loose bit of wool before and I didn't do anything about it. I should have fixed it then."
And it's just so completely <i>Deku</i> to take the blame for something that wasn't his fault that Katsuki doesn't know whether he wants to kick him or kiss him. In the end, he lightly kicks his shin under the table, and when Deku glares up at him, he mumbles, not quite meeting Deku's eyes even as his cheeks heat up, "'M sorry. For ripping your sweater and for what I said."
Deku's foot finds his again for something that feels more like a caress than a kick.
"The food's delicious," he says softly. "Thank you."
And Katsuki knows he's forgiven--just as well as he knows he doesn't deserve to be. Not yet.
*
Seven months later
This year again, they set up a Christmas tree.
All right, so Izuku sets up a Christmas tree while Kacchan sits there and watches. At least this time he doesn't say it's a silly tradition, though he did insist that Izuku only set it up the night before Christmas. Seeing how busy they've both been lately, Izuku doesn't think he'd have found the time to set it up sooner regardless.
And besides, Kacchan never said when it's got to come down...
Izuku just likes the lights twinkling when the room is dark at night. And he likes finding hero-themed ornaments to hang from the branches. He has four All Might ones on there, each in a different costume. He doesn't despair of finding one for EraserHead someday. He has a Froppy one and a Uravity one--they're not licensed merch, just handmade figures created by a fan he found online. He's got an official Shouto ornament--well, really it's a collectible figure meant to sit on a shelf, Izuku just looped a bit of string around Shouto's outstretched hand... and he makes sure to hang it way in the back, so Kacchan won't roll his eyes and pout every time he looks at the tree.
There's also a licensed Dynamight ornament on there, and Izuku makes sure to put it front and center. Kacchan absolutely loathes it, because whoever sculpted it gave him a smile--a nice, soft smile, the kind of smile Izuku is the only one lucky enough to receive. Which is why Izuku loves it. And why he bought seven of them, the replacements stashed in a secure place just in case this one 'mysteriously' disappears.
After hanging up another handful of ornaments--they're minor heroes, but Izuku has had the chance to work with each of them--he stands back to admire his work. A little behind him, Kacchan grabs a fistful of his t-shirt and pulls until Izuku, laughing, stumbles back and into his lap. Kacchan's arms immediately wrap around him, holding him where he is--not that Izuku has any other place to be.
"What do you think?" he asks happily, watching the multicolor lights blink on and off randomly.
Kacchan grunts. "Don't think I didn't notice you hiding Candycane in the back. You should put a real candy cane on there, it'd look nicer."
Clucking his tongue, Izuku taps the thigh underneath his own.
"Be nice," he admonishes. "Or I'll put two of yours on there."
A huff against the base of his neck sends shivers down Izuku's spine.
"It doesn't need another one of me on there," Kacchan mutters. "But it could use one of you."
Izuku wouldn't mind, but his agency isn't like Kacchan's. They don't really do merch there--which Izuku is fine with, he agrees with his boss that the important part is to be a hero, not to sell stuff, and he's about to remind Kacchan of that when something small and green dangles in his peripheral vision. With some difficulty, he lifts his eyes from the tree and looks at...
Himself.
Or, well, a version of himself.
The figure dangling from Kacchan's fingers on a silver string is just three or four inches tall, but the details on it, from the costume to the pose to the expression on the face, are all exquisite. Whoever sculpted this--is it clay? It looks like glazed clay--did an awesome job.
And gave Izuku an absolutely feral expression.
Izuku doesn't know whether to laugh or squeal or just turn around and kiss Kacchan.
"It's a little Deku!" he exclaims, then laughs as he takes the figure in his hands. "A really angry little Deku!"
"Bet he's angry because Dynamight has been hanging in that tree with all these extras without him. You should put him up there."
Izuku is happy to do so, but not before turning In Kacchan's lap and stealing a kiss... or maybe even two.
Then he practically bounces to the tree and carefully hangs up his figure next to Kacchan's. They're the same size and fit perfectly together. It makes Izuku wish they'd get to fight side by side more often. Maybe some day, he thinks wistfully, they'll open an agency together. They've talked about it a few times, but they're still rookies, barely out of school, and while they technically <i>could</i>, they both agreed it was too soon.
"I love my present, Kacchan," Izuku says as he turns back to his boyfriend. "Thank you."
"You're welcome," Kacchan says, "but it's not your present. This is."
His fingers drum on the top of the plain white box that definitely wasn't next to him on the couch just a second ago. Izuku tilts his head, wishing one of his quirk was X-ray vision or something. His fingers itch and he doesn't dare take a step forward.
"Do you want to put it under the tree with yours?" he says softly.
Kacchan shakes his head.
"Come here," he says. "Open it."
Izuku doesn't move.
"But Christmas is only tomorrow," he protests, his voice sounding weak even to his own ears.
Kacchan's lips stretch on a wicked grin. "Have it your way. I'll open it, then, and keep it for my--"
Before he can finish or slide his fingers under the edge of the box, Izuku plops himself back down on his lap and draws the box onto his knees. Laughing, Kacchan encircles his waist with his arms again and rests his chin on Izuku's shoulder, watching as he lifts the top of the box and reveals a familiar pattern and colors: All Might's costume.
It takes a good two or three seconds before Izuku recognizes the equally familiar ridges of knitted wool. His breath catches in his throat and he very slowly, very carefully lifts what he knows is a sweater out of the box.
It's his sweater. He knows it is, because there's a small, black spot of indelible ink near the collar; it was already there when Izuku got it.
It's the sweater he's kept in the bottom drawer of his dresser for the past few months, unable to wear it anymore without aggravating the rip but unwilling to put it away for good.
But when he turns it around, the rip is gone. And if Izuku didn't know exactly where to look, he probably wouldn't notice the repaired area. Everything matches, from the color of the wool to the pattern of the knitting. The only thing is that the wool seems a little newer in that area, less fuzzy than the rest, but that's only because Izuku knows what he's looking at.
"Kacchan," he breathes, but doesn't know what else to say.
"Is that all right?" Kacchan asks, his voice tight. "I mean, I know I should have asked first before touching your stuff, but then it'd have ruined the surprise."
"It's..." Izuku's throat feels too tight. He clutches the sweater to his chest. "It's perfect. Thank you."
After Kacchan kisses the back of his head, he manages to ask, "But... how? I looked for shops that repair knitted things but I didn't find anything."
Kacchan mumbles something; Izuku isn't quite sure he hears right. "You... what?"
"I learned to knit," Kacchan repeats a little louder, sounding embarrassed of all things. "My parents work with this old woman sometimes, she knits samples of their designs for them and then they have factories recreate the stuff. I asked her if it was fixable, and when she said yes I asked if she'd teach me how. I wanted to have it ready for your birthday but that shit took longer than I expected. I just finished last week."
Izuku understands all the words individually but he struggles to make sense of them all together. Shifting on Kacchan's lap, he turns to look at him, and is surprised to find him red-faced.
"You learned to knit?" he asks, unable to keep an edge of awe from his voice.
"I messed up your sweater," Kacchan mutters. "Wanted to fix the damn thing." Rather than looking at Izuku, he rests his forehead against Izuku's collarbone and talks against his t-shirt. "There's a lot of stuff I can't fix, but that, at least--"
Izuku has heard enough. Holding the sweater close with one hand, he cups Kacchan's face with the other and kisses him within an inch of his life. Soon, Izuku is wearing his sweater again. The lights of the tree keep twinkling, but Izuku only has eyes for Kacchan.

Support Student Katsuki AU pt. 13
(pt. 1) (pt. 2) (pt. 3) (pt. 4) (pt. 5) (pt. 6)(pt. 7) (pt. 8) (pt. 9) (pt. 10) (pt. 11) (pt. 12) (pt. 13) (pt. 14)
So after all that drama, Shouto is doing his remedial courses while getting help from Aizawa & the teachers to get away from his father. He’s also a hopeless mess of pining carefully hidden under a facade of calm. Now, everyone in Class 1-A has figured out that he has crushes. Most of them knew before he did. Everyone but Izuku and Katsuki themselves, who are both obvious and wrapped up in other things. Izuku is just delighted that Shouto has started opening up with them. Katsuki’s happy that Icyhot has calmed down and seems to be doing better.
Then the hideout raid happens.
Not too much changes from canon here. Izuku helps save Eri, and Mirio loses his quirk. The real difference comes after.
Afterwards, All-Might approaches Izuku and asks him one last time if he’s sure, he’s sure he wants to be a quirkless hero. Really he should’ve picked a different successor by now, but something had been drawing him back to Izuku, telling him that he was the one. Izuku smiles and nods. He’s sure. Maybe in another lifetime, but honestly he’s glad he said no now. Mirio’s going to be way better at learning to control it anyways.
So All-Might approaches Mirio afterwards and explains everything. Even the parts about having offered the quirk to Izuku first, since Mirio asks him why he didn’t give it to him instead. Mirio has to think it over, and he ends up seeking Izuku out.
“Should I take it?” He asks him plainly, and they both know what he’s talking about. Izuku considers him for a long moment.
“If you want to, yeah.” His voice is careful, not trying to sway Mirio one way or another.
“Why didn’t you? I mean, I know it’s not what you wanted, but why isn’t it what you wanted?” It’s a fair question, even if Mirio kinda knew the answer already.
Several seconds pass by as Izuku struggles for a way to explain it.
“I think I might’ve, if I’d thought there was no other way for me to be a hero. If I’d grown up with everyone telling me I couldn’t be a hero without a quirk, I’d probably have taken it. I didn’t though, I had Kacchan. He told me that I could be a hero without a quirk. More than that, he made it a good thing. No particular strength means no particular weaknesses. I could be flexible with my weapons. Immune to metaquirk effects too. Villains would never know what to expect.”
Izuku paused for a long moment, still thinking through his words. They’re firmer now. More confident.
“Kacchan made being quirkless my superpower, and I don’t want to trade my superpower for a different one. Even if it might be a stronger one, I like mine more. I’ve spent my whole life training to use it too, seemed like a waste to throw it away.”
For awhile, Mirio considered that answer.
“Guess that makes sense. I would’ve wanted to keep my superpower too, if I could’ve.” He was trying to keep his tone light, but the pain showed through. Still he pressed on. Mirio always did. “Now it’s a choice between two new superpowers, and I’m not sure what I want.” A pause before he gave a half-hearted smile. “Maybe I should go talk to Katsuki too, huh? He seems to have this stuff figured out.”
That got Izuku to laugh, making Mirio stumble before fixing him with a betrayed look. The green-haired boy didn’t falter though, he just smiled brightly.
“Close, but not quite. You don’t need to talk to my Kacchan, you need to go talk to your Kacchan. I’m sure he’ll be able to help you a lot more than mine can.”
The confusion flicked across Mirio’s face for only a second or two before the implications hit him. He considered it before nodded.
“Yeah, that sounds like a good plan. Tamaki’s always been way better with this stuff.”
They part ways after that. Izuku goes back to the dorms where all his friends are, to curl up on the couch in his boyfriend’s arms. Mirio goes to his childhood friend’s room to ask for advice. Both teenagers stay up all night talking, sharing secrets and having discussions that shape not only their own future but the future of the world.
That night, Mirio kisses Tamaki for the first time. He’s wanted to do it for so long, but the courage hadn’t come to him until then.
Where he found it, he’s still not exactly sure. Maybe it was in that knowing glint in Izuku’s eye. Maybe it was in the face of an uncertain future. Maybe it was that when his quirk left him, courage filled the hole it left.
Or maybe it was in Tamaki himself. How he looked at Mirio like Mirio was the sun in the sky, and told him to accept All-Might’s offer. Already Mirio had determined he wanted to, but then had come a quiet expression of doubt. Was he really the most worthy? Izuku didn’t want it, but maybe that was some sort of sign that he should have it. Weren’t you not supposed to want power?
Tamaki had taken Mirio’s face in his hands, and looked at him with disbelieving, revenant eyes.
“Take it. Mirio, there’s no one on this earth who could deserve it more than you do. You’ll make it something amazing, I know you will. You’ve already done it once.”
Those sure words from his normally anxious childhood friend scrubbed away any doubt Mirio had.
“Okay.”
He’d said, and then he’d kissed him.
The next day, he accepted All-Mights offer. By the evening, he had a new quirk and a boyfriend. Not to mention his new adoptive little sister. He’s lost his mentor, and that hurts, but he’s pushing forward. No matter what, he’s going to make Sir Nighteye proud. He’ll make that future come true.
In some far off jail cell, both arms now gone, Kai Chisaki eventually received a report that his quirk-destroying bullet hadn’t worked. Somehow, it had just mutated Mirio’s quirk instead. Already beaten down and defeated, Kai stews in his fury knowing he had completely failed in his mission.

A lot to talk about this chapter!
Tumblr media
What draws near? Blood-loss? Death? Fainting? I’m probably reading into this too much and Toga’s just talking about passing out.
Edit: In the mangastream translation, she said, “I’ve gotten closer to you”. So it’s her feeling closer to Izuku.
Tumblr media
1) I agree with the IT guy. Fighting at the front lines when you have a remote detonation quirk is such a bad idea, but I do understand that Curious wanted an interview so badly that she risked her life for it.
2) Yeah, yeah. Re-Destro crying. Doesn’t mean anything if you just keep tossing fodders to their death. Brings me back to when the League lost Magne and how far they went for someone who fought alongside them.
From the Heroes who celebrated Kouta’s parent’s acts of heroism that lead to their deaths and endangering Hawks to act as a spy, to Overhaul who actively sacrificed his own subordinates to buy himself time and fuse to grant him power, and now this group... The League of Villains are the ones that embody the power of friendship the most. Wow.
3) Was there any surprise that everything is on camera? I love how they’re like, “No matter what we do, they are the ones who look like the good guys here.” Idk why not think about why you guys seem like the villains when you’re up against a group of actual villains? Hmmm?
Tumblr media
Give this man a break. He’s been through grueling torture and he’s still sane. He’s not at his best, ok?
I wonder if this IT guy has a quirk that has something to do with brains waves and neurons. That would be pretty cool. My second guess is something technology based.
Tumblr media
Poor Spinner hasn’t defeated anyone. Strangely enough, I never saw Dabi attack anyone this and the previous chapters.
He even talks about this later on in the chapter:
Tumblr media
He waited for Shigaraki’s cue to start actively fighting! (Some food for thought for you ShigaDabi fans). I’m still trying to put together what Dabi thinks about the league: On one hand, he’s very distant from the rest of them, in a lone-wolf kind of way, almost like he’s picked apart by the author exclusively to be separated from the rest of the group. Dabi even said he didn’t care about Shigaraki’s past, and won’t help them with Giganto, and he was annoyed when they dragged him into the Liberation Army fight.
But on the other hand, you get him calling Shigaraki Leader, participating in certain operations like the attack on Overhaul’s ambulance and the Training Camp attack. He’s the one in the League trying the hardest to recruit people...
Dabi is still someone very difficult to puzzle out.
Edit: Mangastream translation what he said was “I was never cut out for sparing people”, and that he could start doing so after Shigaraki started killing these people. So less of following orders, and more of finally being free to kill people like he wanted to. It brings out more debate on just what the League is to Dabi, and what it does to his morality.
Tumblr media
We’ve seen many examples of fanatical beliefs in the series. Different ideologies that people believe in and fight for. All For One had a cult-like following. People believed in All Might so much that his retirement is marked as an end of an era. Stain’s last stand rallied up people who share his desire for a true hero society. Overhaul’s underlings would throw their lives away for him because he took them in.
Currently Deku’s “Saving everyone” is a goal the heroes all gather under, while Shigaraki’s “Destroy Everything” is something we see ambiguous reactions to among the League. Is it a strong motive that he can rally people under? Personally, I think he needs to continue developing that creed, but Toga does seem to agree with it.
Tumblr media
Sleepy Shigaraki ~<3! He barely slept in a month, plus his supposed break time was interrupted by the Liberation Army. Honestly surprised he’s still standing and fighting. He can hardly register the mob in front of him.
“It always gets like that when I’m sleepy. Does that mean he’s experienced this in the past? When fighting Gigantomachia maybe? Will we get a flashback to him developing this domino-effect-dusting during the past month?
Edit: Just a generalizing statement I guess. I still want to see if this is a quirk evolution or something he could always do.
Tumblr media
Interesting that Tenko’s face is blacked out. We won’t know if his face is wrinkled, whether he had black hair, and any facial scars. His features are being hidden and I think there’s a reason for that.
“Hana-chan”... Daww his sister has a mole on her right cheek! That’s so adorable (rest in peace ;_;)
“Even though Dad said all that.” Their dad disapproves of something. The leaks say that Tenko wanted to be a hero, and this dialogue is hinting to that. Their dad keeps a photo of Nana and himself in his childhood in his drawer that he kept secret. Hana knows Nana is a hero, and wants to encourage Tenko. What must have happened was that their dad felt bitter for Nana being a hero results in abandoning him, and he doesn’t want Tenko to be a hero.
“It feels so warm and tender. Aah, just why is it...?” 😭  The feeling of love and care is so foreign to Shigaraki now that he just don’t understand why he feels that way. And then the memory just cuts short, depriving him of that feeling, leaving him with the hollowness and rage again.
Tumblr media
Of course he’s in a bad mood now.
Shigaraki’s speed keeps getting brought up by various people, and it’s still unclear if there’s a correlation between that and his decay quirk, like whether his speed increased alongside the strength of the quirk? Just speculation.
At first I was confused since the wall didn’t disintegrate after he grabbed it to flip himself up, but in the next page it was shown disintegrated.
Also, he vomited after having a flashback again. I don’t know if it’s the flashback or throwing up that caused his sudden quirk-chain-reaction, and what he needs to do to use it again. We also don’t know if it’s something new or just something he’s always able to do, since the previous people he killed are not in contact with anybody else so there’s no way of telling if their decaying would spread to anybody else.
I can’t believe how many people thought Shigaraki was drooling rather than vomiting in the leaks XD. You guys are so thirsty over Shiggy fanservice.
Next time! Dabi vs Ice guy! Even though fire obviously melts ice, the rules of Shounen dictates that something’s gonna make this fight more interesting than Dabi curbstoming. The obvious connection between Dabi and Endeavor also proves that this time we’re going to dive into Dabi characterization and possible backstory.

"Do the horizontal contra dance, yes," Darcy answered. "Well kind of, I mean there's only three of us and a contra dance is four to a group, but tango is just for two and I had to think of something fast. Come on, Stevie, this isn't the first time we've hooked up. "[X]lol
"He wanted something just for him again, even though he felt like a selfish asshole for even thinking it. So he would do whatever he could to chase after that feeling. Even if it was stupid. Even if it was silly. "[ch2]advice, remember "Tony must never read these, Steve thought. Bucky’s arm would never be safe. "[ch3]Steve Discovers FanFiction "Steve stayed focused on the screen, sticking out his tongue a little while he concentrated. It was unfairly adorable. "[ch4]Jarvis knows how to motivate Steve: a Bucky themed typing game "Good things would happen. Funny, clever jokes would be told. Sexy adventures were always available, no matter what was happening in the real world. "[X]relatable "There was even a page of ‘Bucky Approved Sex Words and Phrases’. The name alone never failed to make Steve smile "[ch7]lol "He wasn’t really writing this stuff for the money anyways; mostly he just wanted to see that other people liked and enjoyed what he was doing. "This is why you should always read end-user agreements on friendships. "[X]not the fic but the start notes, lol. Also, Maria's entry is adorable, and Pepper potts!! "(“So what you’re telling me is you spent a week building a glorified roomba,” Rhodey says the first time he sees it, and Tony lets out an undignified huff and makes JUNK-E destroy and clean a grand piano.) "[Same]hahha
"And it’s better to be an asset, which at least sounds like something you value, than a glorified action figure. "[ch3]comment "Steve’s friendship is stronger than even Steve’s shield, and protects them both just as much "[Same ch9]awww
"Bucky actually is, but she knows well enough not to ask. Instead, she has started braiding flowers into Natasha's hair while the other girl of the group is busy making a flower crown for Thor. This is what it must be like to have real friends, Bucky thinks, lounging in his camping chair, trying to eat with one hand while Steve is holding his arm, drawing on the inside of his forearm with a black pen. "[ch2]flower crowns "I heard a lot of things I kind of projected on myself. It's probably stupid, but… it's always crazy to hear things that apply to oneself somehow." "It's the magic of music. Sam once told me about the Mr. Brightside effect–" "[ch4]yes "Bruce is on his own so much that he probably doesn't even notice that he has friends "[ch5]relatable, high school me
"The most beautiful thing however was the wall right next to the bed-- while all the other walls were the same off-white color, this one sported stripes of different colors down. Blue, red, green, purple, black, another shade of lighter blue. In the middle of these stripes, the Avenger signs were painted by a meticulous hand; Cap’s shield, Tony’s arc reactor, Mew Mew, and so on-- Darcy didn’t notice she was crying into Mara started wailing in solidarity "[ch1]draw?
"He knows it, like Steve and Bucky know that Tony needs praises and affection, not commands. "[ch8]...
"She thanked Sif (a habit she had started lately, thanking the Asgardian warrior instead of some non-present God, because really, if there was a god she wanted to follow, it would totally be Sif) "[X]nice Darcy "Even if she wasn’t an Avenger per say, she got to be on the team, both super and nonsuper alike. "[ch2]awww
"Elizabeth is going to make coffee happen, and in Darcy’s eyes that makes her a goddess. "[X]comment "By the end, Steve had been right in the thick of it, using a frypan as a shield and hurling pasta like nobody’s business. "[same]comment "Agent Hill’s bad ass levels are through the roof, but put her in front of a powerpoint and the result is coma-inducing. "[Ch3]lol "JARVIS, my man, I need some fat beats up in here. Help a sister out?” "[ch3]comment
"She knew now that it was almost certainly to do with her personal level of comfort and how hard both Steve and Barnes had worked to make her feel good. "[middle chapter]comment
"A video clip of the Asgardian scientist Tadeas and Neil Degrasse Tyson singing a scientific ballad of their own composition was one of the most viewed Youtube videos of all time "[X]lol "He grabbed [a muffin] and shoved it into his mouth, belatedly peeling the paper off. "[Same]haha! :D "Darcy put a box of Sour Patch Kids on top, “Those are for Heimdall.” "[X]comment "“No. Damnit, Darcy. You’re stubborn. Of course you’re stubborn! Jesus Christ, I can’t even imagine what it must like to be in the same room as the two of you.” "[X]best friend sass "But Clint is a human with a bow on a team of superheroes. "[X]Darcy's favorite avenger and why Ch4 music note "Apparently Thor is back on Earth. He showed up in New York right after we left and basically deafened all of Brooklyn with his displeased shouting about his missing Shield Sister. So now everyone knows I’m gone and my disappearance is trending on Twitter as #MissingAsgardianPrincess. How is this my life?! I can’t even with this shit.” "[X]mild spoiler? HAHAHA "Try having a conversation with one of them [asgardians]-- 4 to 1 odds it turns into some sort of ballad recitation. "[X]...
"The next day, Izuku Midoriya delivered his eleven page elaborate essay on how ordering sex toys inspired him to be more honest with himself and his boyfriend about what he wanted in life and in bed. "[X]lol
"“Fire for stop, ice for slow, and smash for go.” "[X]comment

Can I ask, why do you love Shinsou so much? I'm curious abt why ppl love him a lot, because I never really thought much of him other than a temporary opponent of Izuku's during the Sports Festival. I'm waiting for more appearances (still at ep 54) so I can determine whether or not I'm a fan of him, since I feel like that appearance wasn't nearly enough of an intro to his character (I can see how interesting he could be, if explored). I wanna join the Shinsou fan train cause he seems interesting
Oh, man, this is an interesting question!  Well, part of it is that–like you said, he’s only briefly been in the anime so far.  He’s playing what seems to be a pretty significant part in the most recent arc of the anime.
That said, Shinsou’s popularity in the fandom (and my own personal fondness for him) does pre-date his re-appearance in the manga, and in my personal opinion it has a lot to do with how he is positioned in relation to two other characters that are very popular.
(Under the cut because boy did this get long)
The first, and most obvious, is probably Midoriya.  Midoriya and Shinsou have a lot of similarities.  Both are disadvantaged in a society dominated by quirks and heroes.  Midoriya because he is quirkless, and Shinsou because he has a quirk that other people consider ‘villainous.’  Despite this, and despite how people treat them because of it, they both want to become heroes, even though the odds seem insurmountable.  They even share a key personality trait, with both of them compensating for physical deficiencies through intelligence and work ethic.  Of course, as we know, Midoriya gets OfA, and Shinsou…doesn’t.  And that’s part of Shinsou’s appeal, I think.  His struggles are not at all dissimilar to Midoriya’s pre-OfA, and since Midoriya is the protagonist and the audience is supposed to sympathize with him, we sympathize with Shinsou by extension!  We look at Shinsou and we a trajectory that is not unlike the one Midoriya might have taken if he hadn’t met All Might, and that’s a path that’s fun and appealing to explore!
The second, and also pretty obvious, character is Aizawa!  There are a lot of similarities between Aizawa and Shinsou, and BNHA deliberately draws a lot of lines connecting them.  There’s the physical resemblance: dark messy hair, under-eye circles, bored/tired appearance, and the similarities between their quirks: both ‘mental’ quirks with no physical application that would have been useless in UA’s entrance exam.  The Sports Festival even has Aizawa comment irritably on the irrationality of UA’s entrance exam during Shinsou’s fight, suggesting that on some level Aizawa thinks Shinsou should be in the hero course, or at the very least that he should have had a better shot at getting in than he actually did.  This gave rise to the ‘Aizawa is training Shinsou’ theory a while back, a theory which the manga has solidified a lot since then.
So, already, there are major connections between Shinsou and two fandom faves.  And this is helpful not just because it helps the reader/viewer connect to a character that has only briefly been on in the story, but because it’s also a particularly interesting characterization trick.  We know not just that Shinsou is stoic (and also kind of a smartass) as demonstrated.  We also know that, like Midoriya, he is dead clever, a hard-worker, and that he desperately wants to be a hero.  We know that Aizawa seems to see some of himself in Shinsou, though the precise traits are (as of now) currently up for interpretation.  But these things combined mean that Shinsou actually comes out of his brief appearance feeling fairly fleshed out.
Another reason is that Shinsou’s quirk, and people’s perception of it, is a really interesting commentary on the hero world.  It’s similar to Midoriya’s situation pre-OfA, but it isn’t quite the same.  There’s a difference between how quirkless people are perceived and how people with villainous quirks are perceived.  People didn’t think that Midoriya could become a hero because they didn’t think someone without a quirk had the physical capability to be a hero.  People don’t think Shinsou can be a hero not because they think his quirk has no utility, but because his quirk leads them to expect the worst from him.  His character is quite possible the only one that I can think of right now–even more than Midoriya–that allows for complex exploration of how society in BNHA treats quirks, and how they let that influence perceptions of other people, sometimes in ways that are very damaging.
And lastly, I love Shinsou because I love characters who keep trying to do the right thing even when everyone else doesn’t believe they can do it, and I love characters who have had rough lives find places where they feel safe and people who love and value them and want to support them.  He’s a character with so much potential, and a lot of really interesting groundwork laid, and that makes him fun to read and write about!

I'm loving this fantasy bakugou story! Do you think you could do the same concept, but with todoroki? Thank you!
A/N: I SURE CAN MY FRIEND AND OH BOY DO I HAVE A STORY FOR YOU IT MIGHT SEEM A LITTLE DRAB AT FIRST BUT YOU’LL WANNA STAY TUNED
and just in case someone hasn’t read the Fantasy!Bakugo ones that were mentioned, there’s ONE, TWO and THREE! ^^
FANTASY!TODOROKI
Slowly, his eyelids rolled back, exposing his eyes to the ray of light laying upon his face. He blinked- once, twice, three times- focusing on the figures leaning above him, he was thankful one of them blocked the light so he could see. His instincts told him something was wrong, and that he shouldn’t lay there motionless as these forms could be potentially dangerous- he had to think and be cautious, moving incorrectly could potentially cause harm. He could lay there and pretend to be dead- no, that was ridiculous. He could fight back- yes! If he were to just simply twist his hips in this fashion, his legs could-
“Uh… Todoroki? Are you alright?” a voice he recognized spoke and jogged him from his thoughts.
Once his eyes readjusted and the figures became clear, he saw the familiar green hair of his adventurer friend he had met along his travels.
“Ah, the squire- I was afraid you were someone else.” He didn’t notice the confused look on his face as he sat up, eyes rolling over the other two faces, “The mage and tavern girl as well. I thought the two of you had left for supplies.”
“Todoroki, what are you talking about?” Ochaco had asked, concern laced in her voice.
“Do you suppose he’s delirious due to a heat stroke? That costume can’t be very insulated,” Tsuyu insinuated.
Costume? What was she talking about? He looked down- no, he was wearing the clothes he had previously been wearing. He started to hyper focus on the gold-plated buttons on his shirt, eyebrows drawing together as he gathered his thoughts. Calmly, he stood up and unsheathed his sword, letting the handle roll in his hand a bit before swinging it so the tip sat mere inches away from Izuku’s throat.
“Who are you.” He demanded an answer rather than asking, his voice going cold.
“W-wait! What are you talking about? We’re your friends!” Izuku swallowed hard, “It’s me, Midoriya!”
“Where did he get an actual sword?” Tsuyu wondered aloud, causing Shoto to turn his blade onto her instead.
“Where I acquired my weapon is none of your business, imposter. Now answer my question and we can attempt to make peace,” If his gaze hadn’t come off icy before, it definitely did now as his eyes narrowed.
Shoto took a few steps back, hoping to gain distance between them in the event that he needs to escape rather than take the fight head on. Assessing the situation, they didn’t seem to be hostile- in fact, their expressions seemed laced with concern rather than hints of any ill intentions; But who were they? It was fairly obvious they weren’t who he first thought of- Black magic, maybe?  Some sort of duplicate spell? He thought back to the books within the castles study- nothing he remembered reading spoke of this level of witchcraft… did this land have a stronger magic source than his did? He let his eyes wander to his surroundings again- just what was this land anyway?
“…roki?” the apparently Izuku snapped him from his thoughts once again, “Todoroki? Are you alright?” he asked again.
Shoto sighed and sheathed his sword once again, pinching the bridge of his nose a moment before muttering to himself about getting in such a situation. In an attempt to seem unthreatening, he held out his palms in front of him and moved them slowly.
“I’m not looking for trouble,” he started, “Now if you allow me to look for my steed, I have something I’m trying to find.”
“Steed?” Ochaco whispered, “Is Todoroki in some sort of improv group?”
Izuku studied him a moment, noticing just how nicely made his clothes were. Shoto felt the gaze run over his clothing, but he paid no mind and allowed himself to scan his surroundings for any sign of his horse. He found no prints and frowned- he heard rustling in the leaves behind him, but he couldn’t risk his life by turning his back to this trio. In moments like this, he had to think- what would they do? His adventurer friend, the heroes of the land- his knight. Think, Shoto, think- keep calm. He closed his eyes a moment, hoping the answer would wash over him by doing so. He should run- it was the safest option in an unknown land against what could potentially be deadly warlocks. But could he do it? Would he be able to run fast enough to avoid-
“Were you calling for me?”
His eyes shot open at the realization that his voice rang out- but he had not opened his own mouth.
With his hand on the handle of his blade he turned quickly, ready to draw his weapon, but found his feet encased in a patch of ice. Following the trail of ice, his eyes locked with an identical pair- both seemed to widen at the scene as confused screams echoed behind him.
Everything about him seemed the same- well, aside from the drab clothing and (newly? Possibly? There was no other way to word it to himself) found ice powers. Had he gotten blessed by the Goddess of Ice in this world? Their movements were alike in nature- soft and easy going, never making a move unless needed.
It finally dawned on him- this was him. Maybe not… him, but him of this world. His doppelganger, as one might call it. He glanced at the trio to his side now- they must be the mirrored images of his friends as well. He sighed, chipping away at the ice with the tip of his sword to free himself; He made a soft gesture before putting his sword back where it belonged.
“It seems as though I’m no longer in my own world.”
“Own world, what do you mean?” this worlds Shoto had asked. When he looked back at him, it seemed as though his mirrored image had started to grasp the situation- he had to admit, this version of him was much quicker on the uptake than he was.
“I thought perhaps I found myself in an unknown land outside of my kingdom- but it’s obvious now that I’ve found myself in some sort of… what did the headmaster call it… ‘Alternate Universe’,” turning to Izuku and company, he gestured, “And by your faces, my assumption that you were a group Dark Mages was incorrect.”
“Dark Mages?!” both Izuku and Ochaco had called out in disbelief. Tsuyu seemed to nod at the information and offer her forgiveness without him even needing to ask.
“So if you’re from some ‘Alternate Universe’…” the other Shoto started.
“You’re just going to disregard that?!” Izuku interjected.
“…How did you get here? It’s hard to believe that there really is such a thing,” he finished, “So if you’re an alternate version of me, how is your life there?”
Shoto could tell his double seemed on edge with his last question- apparently his life in this world wasn’t as glamourous as it appeared either. He didn’t know whether to feel relieved he wasn’t the only one having to deal with a troublesome life or to feel bad that misery will find him everywhere. Running a hand through his hair before turning to address the groups as a whole, he straightened out his back to appear more like his proper self.
“So are there alternate versions of us too?” Tsuyu asked, finger tapping on her chin.
Shoto extended his arm to point at each corresponding person.
“Tavern girl. Mage. Adventurer, as well as the squire to the hero All Might himself.” Shoto watched the boy tense up and diffuse the action by waving his hands.
“As for us,” he turned to his double, “I’m Prince Shoto of the Todoroki family. With all disregard to previous kingdom rules, my father has designated me the heir to the throne.” Looking to the ground, his voice grew quiet, “Despite my wishes, of course.”
He sighed and looked to the sky, then to the far off brush between the trees before speaking again.
“As for how I got here… I don’t know. There was this large wave of… energy, and I found myself slowly blacking out.” His eyes closed as he recalled the scene.
He had been walking along side his horse through the woods, seeing no need to ride him at the given moment. The sunlight peeked through the leaves- his mind was full of thoughts. Where should he head next? Did he have enough supplies? How was he going to feel if he accomplished his mission? His horse started to get rowdy, thrashing its head all around in an attempt to get out of its reigns. Before Shoto could even ask what was wrong, it stood on its back legs, neighing in fear as it started to run on the opposite direction; Shoto called after it when he felt the odd burst of energy hit his back. He turned towards it, taking one, two, three steps as the corners of his eyes started to fade to black; Eventually, his head started to feel light as he noticed the ground get closer- before he knew what hit him, quite literally, he was knocked out cold.
“I can see why you weren’t as panicked when you woke up then…” Izuku started after his story, “Since you were already in a forest, it probably didn’t register that it wasn’t the same.”
“Yes, exactly. It’s also why I didn’t question the three of you- until Asui called my attire a ‘costume’, then I noticed your own clothing was different. Like I said, I was searching for something, but now, I’m here.” Shoto answered, opening his eyes to look at them. “Where is… here, exactly?”
“This is UA, a hero academy!” Ochaco lit up, clapping her hands together, “We’re students here, training to be the next pro heroes!”
“A hero academy?” he looked perplexed, “Do your heroes not pick one student and appoint them as their squire?”
“No, a handful of us are in a class together and get taught by many different heroes,” Tsuyu answered, “So back home it’s more of a one on one type of schooling?”
“I suppose so,” he nodded in understanding. He turned from them again, looking amongst the trees- he could hear something off in the distance, but couldn’t quite place what it was.
“You said you were looking for something. What was it?” the hero-in-training Shoto interjected into the conversation- the prince answered without looking back at him.
“A person.”
The sounds Shoto heard a minute ago came closer- it sounded like two people arguing but only one set of running footsteps. He thought it was odd- maybe one of their friends?
“A person? Like who?” Izuku asked carefully, hoping not to step on any of the prince’s boundaries.
“My knight.”
Closer. Those voices are becoming clearer with each passing second- should he hide? Would the doppelgangers of this world be as accepting as the mirror images of his friends have been? Should he prepare for a fight, in case it’s a foe rather than a friend? His hand brushed the handle of his sword as he let his ears drown out any sound but the approaching one.
Suddenly, the brush in front of him practically exploded as a heavy body ran through it. After shielding his eyes from the oncoming leaves, he caught a glimpse of them as the couple continued rushing by with no intentions of stopping any time soon. He whipped around, pointing to the barbarians back as an angry (S/o)’s hands beat on his chest.
“Them.”

It had been two years since Katsuki had claimed Deku. The omega had gotten better. So much better that Bakugou was almost regretting having ever bitten him. The little shit had not only been accepted into UA, but he was also in his class. He wore a collar, specially designed to make sure no alpha claimed him, even if he’d already been claimed by the best alpha there was.
Izuku was strangely screwed up for life. He’d have to live with the fact that no other alpha could touch him if it wasn’t Bakugou, but if Katsuki hadn’t done what he’d done when he’d done it, Midoriya wouldn’t have been able to get into UA, to follow his dream. So, even if he couldn’t mate with another alpha, and even if his love life was now totally ruined for everyone else, Deku owed everything to Bakugou. And Katuski loved it.
Luckily, Midoriya took his medicine diligently and Bakugou never felt the pull of his heat call him in. He was sure he’d make himself physically sick if he were to ever touch that omega in any type of sexual context.
He’d always been a strange alpha when it came to omegas. All his life, Katsuki had felt that omegas wouldn’t do anything to him. He’d never been interested in them, and rarely felt the attraction caused by their pheromones. That’s until he met a certain redheaded someone. Bakugou didn’t want to admit it but he felt things when Kirishima was around.
And it seemed like it was mutual for the omega. Which made everything very easy. Katsuki started slow. He scented the other and was even bold enough to mark him with his own scent in front of his friends. Eijirou had almost lost it and had reacted extremely well to the touches, his excitement showing in his trousers as he gasped, moaning about how Bakugou was really manly.
And Kirishima wasn’t even a normal omega, which definitely pleased Bakugou. He was strong and determined, like he’d been made for him. He respected Katsuki but took no shit from him, which was incredibly admirable.
It was more complicated than a simple crush, the blond noted. It was more of needing him around to feel safe, to feel well. The scent Kirishima radiated made him feel better, soothed his troubled soul and his wrinkled brow. And he was sure he had a similar effect on the omega.
It turned out it wasn’t as easy as Bakugou had anticipated. Mainly because he was prideful and didn’t know how to deal with his feelings or use words to express things he thought were obvious. But Kirishima was still always by his side, even when they didn’t go past slight teasing and rubbing their scent over the other. It was still a good way to claim him, Katsuki tried to reason with himself.
And then he’d gone and got himself kidnapped, and when he was close to losing hope, Eijirou’s hand was in the sky, waiting only for the perfect grip that would match his. Bakugou didn’t want to admit he’d been saved, but he had. And thanks to that incident, things got a little weird. They held hands now, and it wasn’t strange at all for them to go places together, their hands intertwined.
Sero, a measly beta, was the first one to get tired of it out of the Bakusquad, which come as a surprise to Katsuki. He was sure the first one to voice his awkwardness would have been Pikachu, given the amount of glares he sent their way every day.
“Well, are you official or not?” Plain Face whined after watching them go hand in hand to the cafeteria.
Baugou just answered with a low growl, which was a warning to stay away from the subject.
“I wanna know too!” Mina shrieked, shoving herself in between Katsuki and Kirishima, breaking their hands apart. She was an alpha, too, which obviously didn’t sit well with the explosive blond. She was far too close to something that wasn’t technically his but had been made to be, sooner or later.
Eijirou blushed, almost the colour of his hair. Bakugou didn’t fail to notice how his lips quivered as he tried to come up with an answer. His stupid heart was pounding with emotions he was better off without, thank you very much.
“I don’t know, Bakugou, are we?” Kirishima almost whispered, his voice low. The blond frowned, his eyes narrowing. Was this some sort of game? A test? Was he supposed to just say they were? Maybe it was an alpha thirst that the omega had and he had to prove it. But he honestly didn’t know what to do.
“Whatever.” He growled, as if that was answer enough, and he left, hoping no one had noticed the panic in his voice.
A few steps ahead he was met with Eijirou’s hand in his and they shared a warm look that could only mean one thing.
It had happened by accident. They were studying in Bakugou’s room and Kirishima was squirming around in his chair, looking uncomfortable. His smell was stronger than usual and Katsuki couldn’t help himself, having caught himself leaning in towards the omega, getting closer to his neck than he should be.
Dangerous.
But good.
So good.
Eijirou moved suddenly. Like a twitch. And with the sudden spasm of his body, he let out a moan. One that resonated inside of the alpha, snapping him away from reality. His senses sharpened immediately and he could tell the other boy was hard and leaking.
Was this the effect Bakugou had on Kirishima? Or was the omega simply close to his heat? It didn’t matter, Katsuki had to do something, anything, to get him out of those clothes and into his bed.
A closer look at the redhead disclosed that he was panting, his breathing troubled, his mouth open to facilitate the intake of air. His face was nearly the colour of his hair and he was emanating such a sweet smell and a lot of warmth.
The image alone was enough to push the blonde over the edge, and, resting his hands on either side of the other’s cheeks, he dove into a kiss.
As their lips crashed together, he felt something he’d never felt before. Sure, he hadn’t kissed anyone before, but he was sure this wasn’t just a regular kiss. He was sure this went beyond, that this topped everything. The omega’s mouth fitted so perfectly into his he was sure he’d been created surely to make him happy. His sharp teeth prodded at his lips and Bakugou let out a moan before opening his entrance and letting Kirishima’s tongue inside of him.
It hadn’t crossed Katsuki’s mind that not only was Eijirou going along with it, but he was also very keen, initiating the movements himself.
Fuck, he’d found the perfect omega.
He didn’t need one of those wishy-washy, submissive little shits. He didn’t want that. He wanted a strong partner, strong in mind and in will, capable of doing things for themselves, not afraid of going against Bakugou if they had to.
And Kirishima was the one.
He’d gone as far as to save him, what more proof did he need to know this omega was his soul mate.
His fated pair.
Katsuki just had to sink his teeth in and make sure the rest of the world knew that this one was his.
The redhead was not afraid of him, unlike everyone else. He wasn’t afraid of telling Bakugou what he was doing wrong or telling him what he wanted. And Katsuki really admired that. He pretended he hated it, but it sat well with him on a level he couldn’t understand.
The fact that he’d found an omega to match him made him feel different.
Special.
And they were sharing such an intimate kiss that he was melting into his cute omega. He couldn’t let him go, not now, not ever.
The tongue in his mouth grew bolder and Bakugou felt hands on his shoulders, wrapping around his neck and pulling him closer.
He had initiative and was willing to do things to get what he wanted. And right now it seemed that what Kirishima wanted was Katuski. And the blond would kill to give him everything he desired.
He led him to his bed and gently pulled him onto it, not wasting time on pressing himself against him.
Finally they’d gotten somewhere, and it was Heaven. The omega beneath him was panting and moaning, his little touches were like fire, but in a good kind of way. In a way he now knew he couldn’t live without.
His kisses were dangerous but good. His sharp teeth posed a threat he was all too glad to assume and he let Kirishima nibble on his sensitive lips, maybe even let him draw blood. In all honesty it felt too good to stop, the heat increasing between them.
Bakugou felt the omega rut against him, his clothed cock hungrily searching for pleasure, blindly following instincts. Oh god. The blond almost felt his brain melt. It was all nearly too much. The smell the other was emanating, which he was rubbing all over the alpha, to make sure other omegas knew who this one belonged to, plus his sharp teeth marking his skin, leaving bite marks and blood as his lips travelled Katsuki’s neck were all making the blond feel elated, like never before.
It was time the alpha took over and he pressed his mouth against the redhead’s neck, forcing the other to throw his head back, gasps and moans spilling out of his cute lips, his whole body thrashing with the urge to keep Bakugou’s head pressed against him. He acted on the impulse, burying his hands in blond hair, hardening them slightly as he pressed on the locks, forcing them down. The male hissed at the feeling, but was secretly loving it.
And all the while they’d been playing this pseudo dominating game, their cocks had been rubbing tightly against each other, their trousers interfering with their pleasure, the smell leaking from Kirishima’s tip enough to make Katsuki’s head spin. He smelt so good, so edible, so fuckable. Which was exactly what the blond was planning. He wanted to dig his fingers up the other’s arse and leave them there, make sure everyone knew he was not available to mate anyone else. Because he was Bakugou Katsuki’s precious omega and fuck anyone else who decided to lay eyes on him.
Maybe he should do something about it.
Maybe he should claim what was rightfully his.
He licked the neck, covering as much skin in saliva as he could, trying to assess where the bite mark would look better. He wanted somewhere visible, and maybe he’d bite more than once, make sure the message was well received by everyone who glanced at Kirishima’s neck. Bakugou Katsuki’s. Don’t touch. Don’t look. Leaving a lot of angry red marks would definitely make everyone know who the alpha behind the damage was.
And Kirishima could leave one on his skin as well. Those scary shark teeth of his would definitely be good at marking, at showing the world that he had his mate and his choice had been made.
More licking, followed by slowly inhaling the deep, rich scent that was so obviously Kirishima. It was making him roll his eyes back in pleasure, goose bumps appearing all over his body, and small shivers nearly making him loose his concentration.
A new scent filled his nose as he realised that being this close to being mated was making Eijirou wet. The image in his brain made his heart skip a beat. He had such an influence over the omega he could hardly believe it.
Bakugou needed to make sure his realizations were true and he quickly stuffed his hand into the other’s underwear, pulling them down slightly. His fingers started tracing soft, warm skin as they searched for his entrance. Finding the slick hole nearly made Katsuki cum in his pants. With the boxers down he could now properly smell the divine liquid oozing out of the omega and it was making him want to knot him very, very badly.
The boy underneath him was obviously enjoying himself as the blond toyed with his entrance. He was slowly rubbing a finger over the ring of muscle and that was enough to make Kirishima groan and moan.
It made Bakugou want to bite him.
Claim him.
Take him.
Make him his.
No one else could hear him like this.
No one could see him like this.
No one should smell him.
He had to be his.
His.
Forever.
Katsuki’s mouth was back on his neck and his teeth pressed lightly against the skin, applying mock bites as he stuck a finger into Kirishima.
A long whine came from the redhead, which made the alpha want to claim him with more force. He’d never felt this before, never understood all the things he’d been told about normal alpha behaviour, but it all suddenly made sense.
This omega had to be his. He had to make him his or he would regret it eternally. He opened his mouth wider, preparing himself for the claiming bite as he stuffed his finger in to the second knuckle.
“Uh… I don’t know if you should bite me, Bakugou.” Kirishima panted underneath him. The blond had been so engrossed in his fantasy that the voice of the other shook him slightly, but wasn’t enough to ease him out of his dream-like state.
“Hmmmmnn, why not?” He hummed, barely noticing what was said between them.
“I mean, I really like you, but I think it’s kinda early and it’s a big deal and…”
“S’not a big deal, though.” Katsuki was pressing his tongue against the redhead’s jawline, moving his finger in deeper into the omega’s arse, which forced a loud moan from the other.
“What do you mean, it’s not a big deal, it’s forever, you know!?” The blond could feel Kirishima’s discomfort in between his pants and groans. He could tell he was uneasy and something inside of him warned him to calm him down. His mind seemed to be somewhere else, however, and he was finding it hard to think. Whatever could he say to make it better?
“I’ve done it before, it’s easy.” He managed to say, opening his mouth wide and pressing his teeth against soft skin, gleaming thanks to the amount of saliva he’d added. He couldn’t continue what he was about to do since he noticed Eijirou tense underneath him and he registered what he’d said. He pulled out of him, noticing the change in the omega.
“You’ve done it before!?”
Fuck. Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck! Bakugou’s mind raced, hoping there was something he could do to save the moment. He felt hardened hands push him away from the neck he’d been trying to dig his teeth into, and suddenly the situation was more real than before. He’d been brought back down abruptly, and he knew he was in a very delicate situation.
“You’ve bitten an omega, Bakugou? You’ve claimed someone? You are someone’s mate?”
All the things he was saying were true but Katsuki didn’t want to admit them. It wasn’t what it seemed and he had to make it right somehow.
“Yes, but…”
“So you’re someone else’s alpha?”
“Yeah but no, look…”
“There’s another omega? There’s someone fucking else? I knew this couldn’t be true! I knew this was too good for me! I knew something would happen!”
“Can you listen to me?” Bakugou was close to loosing his cool, to boiling over.
“You’ve got a pair!?”
“It was just a bite, Kirishima. It meant nothing!”
“AND YOU WERE GOING TO DO IT TO ME TOO! AND IT WOULD MEAN NOTHING AGAIN!”
“No! It’s not what you think!”
“HOW IS IT NOT WHAT I THINK? YOU MARKED ANOTHER OMEGA. YOU CLAIMED SOMEONE ELSE AND YOU WANTED TO DO THE SAME TO ME!”
“Kirishima, It’s-”
“WHAT? IT’S WHAT? What are you going to say exactly? You bit Midoriya when you were small when you were playing alphas and omegas and you think it meant nothing!? Because news flash for you, Bakugou, that still fucking counts!”
Katsuki stayed quiet, dumbfounded. He’d heard of cases like that, were kids screwed each other over by playing adult and biting other’s necks. It fucked kids over completely. Some entered premature heats, others ended up, strangely enough, infertile for life. They all paired, except if they’d been bitten or had bitten betas, and had had to live with the consequences of their actions.
Kirishima understood what the silence meant completely.
“You…bit… Midoriya. That’s why he’s so… different. You… claimed him… He’s your omega!”
Well, they weren’t lies, but they weren’t truths either, but Bakugou could feel the pain in the redhead’s voice as he spoke.
The blond sighed, getting ready to start telling the story which he was so ashamed about. Yeah, he’d been smug about it up until now, but now, now he just felt bad. He felt like he’d screwed over more than just Midoriya.
He’d screwed himself up.
He’d fucked up whatever he had with Kirishima. And if he wasnt careful, he’d fuck Kirishima up too.
“I can’t believe you!” Eijirou spat at him, his face contorting in disgust. His eyes were oozing hatred and betrayal and he was shacking as he was trying to get the alpha off of him. Bakugou tried to stop him from doing so but he eventually decided that struggling with him would make matters worse.
So he let the omega push him away and watched as the redhead left his room without even trying to dress himself properly.
How was Katsuki going to get himself out of this one?
It didn’t help that the Bakusquad prevented Bakugou from actually interacting with Kirishima. At least they didn’t seem to know what was going on, but they knew the omega was upset with him.
He’d tried to talk to him in class, but Sero got in his way and smirked at him while pointing at his elbows. Bakugou got the message.
He tried to get close to him at the canteen but Kaminari threatened to electrify his water and while the threat in itself wasn’t a big deal and the beta didn’t frighten him in the slightest, he could see Kirishima watching, and he was not in a position to scare the omega away further. So instead of getting angry he just walked away.
He tried to get into his dorm but Mina opened the door to Eijirou’s room and just shook her head before closing it in his face.
But Bakugou was prepared to fight acid, tape and electricity if it got Kirishima to listen to him.
Kirishima was trembling in his bed. He’d managed to stop the tears from flowing for a day now and his friends had been extremely supportive. None of them knew what was going on, and even if they did, they wouldn’t understand. Betas had it easy, they didn’t have to deal with mated pairs and shit like that. And Mina was an alpha, but the omega couldn’t be sure she wouldn’t immediately back Bakugou up, taking his side.
He wasn’t exactly alone but he felt very lonely. Like no one could understand him. The idea that maybe Midoriya did crossed his mind, but he didn’t want to think about him. Whenever he did he just imagined Katsuki balls deep into another omega, one who was more of an omega than him. One who was soft and warm, and nice and brave, and confident, and smart and everything any alpha would ever want.
It wasn’t just jealousy. It wasn’t just that Bakugou had chosen what nature intended him to choose. There was hurt, since he’d been interested in him. He’d been stringing him along, making him believe he was wanted by alphas. And not just any alpha, but the best in class. But no, he’d been lied to, used. He was mated to an actual, real omega. Not one that was just a miserable mess, not strong enough to even get over his own past.
Fuck, it hurt. Kirishima hadn’t expected rejection to hurt so much. But then again, it wasn’t just rejection. It was self-doubt and jealousy, and a little bit of heart break.
He’d had a crush on Bakugou for so long and now all he could do about it was cry! And he still had so many things he wasn’t sure about. When had Midoriya been claimed? Was it before Katsuki met him?
A small ray of hope opened up for Kirishima. Maybe the blond hadn’t been lying. Maybe he’d regretted pairing up with Izuku. He didn’t seem to like him at all and didn’t even interact with him aside from snarling and looking down at him.
But maybe it was an act.
Maybe they had agreed to keep it like that, to pretend. Or maybe it went beyond that, maybe it was some kind of roleplay that got Bakugou off. Or maybe he was just into hate-sex so he had to claim someone he really despised?
And maybe they’d been fucking for months, every time Midoriya got his heat. None of them were absent during his heats, and Kirishima hated how he hadn’t noticed before. Of course there was a reason Izuku the omega wasn’t suffering during his heat week. Because he’d been claimed. Nature knew he had a partner, and only his alpha would be affected by his pheromones.
Eijirou, instead, along with all the unmated omegas, had to stay in his room every time his heat came. That or it could end up disastrously for them.
Kirishima cursed himself. Cursed his luck. Cursed how oblivious he’d been. Cursed how he still felt that Bakugou was the one for him.
Of course they’d been going too fast. Maybe that was Katsuki’s intention from the beginning. Maybe he was one of those omega hoarders. He needed to claim as many omegas as he could to feel superior. Kirishima was a lot of things, but he wasn’t just an omega that would be used to be claimed uselessly. Maybe Midoriya might have let him do whatever he wanted with him, but he wasn’t about to let Bakugou do as he pleased.
The redhead bit hard, his sharp teeth clenching tightly as new tears fell down his face. A new determination swept him away from his misery and forced him to look ahead, unashamed.
Bakugou could be the biggest shit he wanted to be, but he would never fuck with Kirishima.
The omega hardened his body as he let out a frustrated whine, throwing his head back. These pathetic feelings he had for the disgusting alpha could not last. Would not last.
Eijirou raised his head and decided he loathed Bakugou Katsuki.

Continuing my collaboration with @paraniva-art for BakuDeku Winter Week...
We did Sweaters on day 1, Sick on day 2, and now Ice Skates for day 3...
_____
"Never?"
"Never."
Katsuki frowns. He's pretty sure he remembers a couple of school trips to the ice rink in their elementary school days, so what the hell?
"I didn't go to those," Deku says in a strangely blank voice when Katsuki reminds him of that. He gestures at the mat between them. "Are we going again? Aizawa-sensei is starting to give us the stink eye."
Katsuki glances toward their teacher, and sure enough he's staring in their direction. They're the only ones not actively engaged in sparring, so of course they stand out. He nods and gestures for Deku to come at him. Sparring with no quirks is no fun if you ask him. He understands the reasoning behind the activity, understands that there'll be times when he won't be able to use his quirk, either because the setting doesn't allow it or because a villain neutralizes him in a similar way Aizawa can do, but that doesn't mean he has to like it.
At least he gets to spar with Deku. These days, he doesn't mind so much being paired with him.
All right, he doesn't mind at all. He actually looks forward to it.
Not that Deku seems to realize as much. He's as oblivious as ever, and Katsuki is not exactly subtle to begin with. Just about all the class has caught on by now, if he's to believe the amused looks he gets from his band of idiots... and the rather alarmed ones Deku's friends give him on the regular. A couple of weeks ago, IcyHot even warned him that a toe out of line would get him a fist in the face.
Of course Katsuki replied with a fist of his own in the idiot's face. Which turned into an all out brawl. Which is how Katsuki ended up paired with Deku today, much to IcyHot's chagrin. Why he thinks it's up to him to 'protect' Deku, Katsuki has no idea. It's not like he has his sights set on Deku--Katsuki knows; he asked, point blank, and IcyHot was startled enough that he actually replied. And then immediately turned the question back on Katsuki, and took his lack of reply as an answer. He didn't look all that surprised, which annoyed the hell out of Katsuki.
By now, Katsuki is sort of despairing Deku will ever get a clue. Maybe it's time to up the ante.
"Why didn't you go to the ice rink outings, then?" he asks in between not-so-easily parried punches, going back to the topic at hand. He's not even sure how they started talking about ice skating, but now he really wants an answer.
"My mom didn't think it'd be a great idea," Deku mumbles. "You know, sharp blades, slippery surfaces, classmates who sort of pushed me around..."
Katsuki's stomach twists unpleasantly in a way he's learned to recognize as guilt.
"She didn't let you come because of me," he says blankly. "Because she thought I'd get you hurt."
Deku shrugs a bit and opens his mouth--to defend his mother or Katsuki, it's hard to tell--but just then Aizawa calls out the end of class. They follow the rest of their peers to the changing rooms, and Katsuki watches, a little annoyed, as IcyHot gets Deku's attention and makes him smile.
Katsuki wants to punch the idiot again, but he does not follow through. For one thing, it'd annoy Deku, which at this point is counter-productive. And for the other...
The beginning of a plan is forming in his mind, and, sadly enough, he'll need IcyHot's cooperation to make it work. Not his <i>help</i>, he doesn't need anyone's help, just... an assist. Or maybe even two.
Much to the general shock of the class, he volunteers to make food for everyone that night. The look IcyHot gives him when he sees the cold soba is somewhere between appreciation and suspicion, like he thinks Katsuki poisoned the food or something. It's almost entertaining.
Katsuki talks to Yaoyorozu first. He knows everyone in the class has asked something from her at one point or another in the past couple of years, and he was sort of proud that he'd never used the girl in that way, but apparently he's no better than everyone else. The thought displeases him, and he's probably grumpier than he should be when he asks his favor, but she doesn't bat an eyelash and merely smiles.
"Of course," she says. "What sizes do you need?"
She ends up making the ones for Deku bright red; Katsuki's are black with an orange X on the back.
Next, Katsuki has to talk to IcyHot. Which involves explaining to him why he wants this favor. Which means admitting he was an asshole when he was younger--but that's nothing new he supposes. Which also means owing the idiot a favor in return... and he collects right away.
"I want a promise," IcyHot says, arms crossed and looking much too serious for comfort.
"What?" Katsuki grunts.
He expects a ridiculous request, because even if they're--mostly--friends these days, or at the very least friendly, riling each other up is too much fun to forego altogether. Instead, he gets a very quiet, "Promise this isn't just a game for you."
Katsuki feels his cheeks turning bright red. He glares that much harder. "What the fuck kind of games do you think I play?"
"The kind that could get my friends hurt," IcyHot says coolly. "Both of them."
Katsuki sputters. Could the idiot be even more embarrassing?
"I'm not playing," he answers in the end, a barely audible mutter, because IcyHot is still waiting for an answer.
IcyHot just nods.
"All right, then. Is six o'clock early enough?"
Katsuki would have preferred earlier, but it'll have to do. He nods. And, very quietly, very grudgingly, mumbles. "Thanks, Todoroki."
The idiot nods again, and smiles a bit when he says, "Good luck."
*
Six o'clock.
In the morning.
On a Sunday.
Izuku groans and glares in the direction of his door.
His door on which someone, some very inconsiderate someone, is currently knocking insistently.
The glare doesn't stop the knocking, so he ends up getting up and going to open, so he can glare at--
"Kacchan?" falls from his lips when he sees who's standing there. He's not sure he isn't still dreaming. "Is something wrong?"
Kacchan looks at him as he opens his mouth, then hurriedly looks away.
"Clothes," he mutters. "I mean, get dressed. Warm clothes. Then come downstairs."
"Huh?" Izuku says, because he's still half asleep and none of this makes a lot of sense.
"Just do it already, Deku," Kacchan scowls at him, but just for the time of a blink before looking away again. "I'll be waiting."
He grabs the door and closes it, leaving Izuku so confused that, for a moment, he just stares at the closed door. Curiosity soon pushes him into action.
"Clothes," he says, remembering what Kacchan said, then looks at himself.
Oh.
He's just wearing boxers, and nothing else. And they're his loose sleeping boxers, so they're riding pretty low on his hips.
He got too hot last night, an effect of his new quirk, and he stripped out of his t-shirt. And apparently opened the door practically naked. No wonder Kacchan wouldn't look at him, he thinks, blushing in delayed embarrassment.
He's still a little flustered when he comes down, but Kacchan doesn't say anything other than a quick, "Come on," before he leads the way outside. Izuku follows, and is taken by such a feeling of deja vu that he has to ask, "We're not going to Ground Beta, are we?"
He knows they're not, because they're headed toward the woods, but it sounds better than asking if Kacchan plans to beat him up again.
Kacchan just rolls his eyes at him and doesn't actually answer.
Five minutes later, they get to a clearing in the woods where they stop to spar, sometimes, when they're out running. To be honest, Izuku loves those morning runs, when he gets to have Kacchan for himself for a little while.
There'll be no sparring today, though. The entire clearing glimmers in the early sunlight, and when Izuku lets out a quiet, "Oh," his breath mists up in front of his face. A sheet of ice covers the clearing, as smooth as--
Realization hits like a blast from Kacchan's quirk.
As smooth as an ice rink.
"Here," Kacchan says, pulling a pair of bright red ice skates from the backpack Izuku wondered about earlier. "Put these on."
When Izuku takes them, he draws a second pair from the bag, black, those ones, and sits on a fallen log to put them on.
"Kacchan?" Izuku murmurs, holding the skates to his chest. "What's going on?"
"Isn't it obvious? I'm gonna teach you to ice skate."
Izuku blinks repeatedly and just stares at him.
"You... why?"
"It's my fault you never learned, isn't it?" Kacchan mutters. "So, I'm correcting that."
He's done putting his skates on but Izuku still hasn't moved. Rolling his eyes, Kacchan stands and makes Izuku sit on the log he just vacated. Crouching in front of him, he pulls his shoes off and takes the skates from him, sliding them on his feet. Izuku has a flashback to years and years and years ago, when they were small, when Izuku didn't know how to tie his shoes yet--when he didn't know he didn't have a quirk--and Kacchan sometimes helped him. That was one reason out of many why Kacchan became Izuku's favorite person then.
And now...
Now...
"Kacchan," he says again, even more quietly, and waits for crimson eyes to lock with his before he swallows the lump in his throat and goes on. "Is this a date?"
There's a part of him, a teeny, tiny part of him that expects to get punched in the nose for daring to ask such a silly question.
But there's a not so tiny part of him that's filled with hope, because Kacchan has been... different, lately. And while Izuku didn't want to make too much out of it, he's wondering if maybe, just maybe...
"God, do you have to be so clueless?" Kacchan mutters; his cheeks are scarlet.
"That's not a 'no,'" Izuku points out, unable to suppress a smile.
"So?" Kacchan tries to scowl at him, but mostly he looks worried. "What are you gonna do if it is?"
Rather than answering, Izuku grabs Kacchan's collar in one hand and draws him forward even as he leans down. Their mouths meet halfway for something that's barely a kiss at all, just lips on lips, and yet when they pull back after a few seconds, they're both blushing brightly. A moment passes in silence, their eyes still locked, their lips slowly curling into smiles.
"Come on," Kacchan says as he stands. "The ice won't last all day."
He offers his hand to Izuku, palm up. Izuku takes it and holds on tight.

Alright, chapter 8! And man is there a lot to talk about here. I don’t really have any pre-content things to say, so we’ll just hop right into it today!
[No. 8 - Rage, You Damned Nerd]
I swear, this first page has a LOT to talk about on it, so I’ll go from panel to panel and do some rambling thoughts on each segment.
Tumblr media
First off, UA doesn’t actually handle the costumes the kids get! It’s support companies affiliated with the school that does - which makes sense, since the school has to focus on teaching their support students before letting them get their hands on actual costumes that these kids might be fighting in.
I mean, they seem to be allowed to practice on like, minor support stuff (read: Mei making Izuku his new gloves post-Nighteye or somewhere around there) but not full costuming, which is… actually a bit reassuring? But also explains some of the lag time in getting costume repairs / upgrades since they’re probably busy companies. It also explains why there probably aren’t major alterations to any costumes besides between the summer and winter variants, since it would be time-consuming to remake these costumes so regularly.
(It still doesn’t excuse some of the costumes the kids got, but that’s more on the whole ‘eye candy’ thing for readers than actual practicality, so whatever.)
(Also, I can’t get over the fact that Snipe has a support company. Fucking Snipe. Guess we know another canon or likely-canon Support teacher.)
Next we get a preview of what the kids sent in for specifications for their costumes:
Tumblr media
We get a bit of insight into a few of the characters - as background stuff, we get Shouji, Mineta, Aoyama, and Sato. Mineta got pretty dunked on for char design and costuming, and Aoyama’s costume almost looks like a magical girl outfit like this, which honest to god would have been fantastic to see him in. More interesting (at least to me) are the other three: Ochako, Tenya, and Katsuki.
Ochako first, because that pressure point thing is interesting, and I dunno how often those actually come up in fics besides a passing mention, like. What if her support bracelets / neck piece broke during training / a mission / whatever? Would she suddenly have to fight through the nausea? By the point of current canon (War Arc) she’s probably trained enough that she doesn’t need them as much, but man, it could be an interesting little thing to explore, like, post-Kamino.
Tenya is a bit surprising, since we know he comes from a well-off hero family. Logically, this was before the whole Hosu / Ingenium plotline was really developed, so Tenya didn’t have that to fall back on, or it could be argued that the support company that Ingenium is associated with also works with UA. Alternatively, it could be that either Tenya didn’t want to rely on his family (which seems silly when they’d know how to work with his quirk best) or UA is very firm on ALL costume stuff going through them…
Tumblr media
But then again, Katsuki. Oh god, Katsuki. What fucking support company looked at this kid and went ‘yeah we should give him a way to store more explosives AND give him bombs’ and just. Did so. Why did UA not vet that. Maybe the support company didn’t realize how strong his explosions were without the gear, but UA, man, I just. I suppose they had no way of knowing how reckless he’d be with them, but honestly, after the battle trials, they should have been fucking yoinked from him so damned fast.
Anyways, onto other parts of Katsuki’s costume, we see he’s a fucking dork. Possibly what lowered their guard. ‘Something scary’ and ‘Dynamighte all over’. What the hell, kid. At least your designer stuck close to your design… including the huge-ass clunky gauntlets. Man, the Musketeer Trio movie poster ones are so much better looking and so, so streamlined. Works of art, they are.
Tumblr media
Moving on, we get a bit of a flashback to ~three weeks ago, which by the calendar would be around March 20th? So a few weeks after the Entrance Exam. And Izuku is only NOW getting around to updating the quirk registry? Izuku baby seriously, how the FUCK did none of the UA staff notice the ‘quirkless’ on your application form at any point before this?
But yeah, he’s worried about his registry, so he calls Toshinori, who explains the update process. It gives the example of someone who might alter their stuff with updated information, with one or two allowed - though major ones aren’t accepted. Toshinori then says it’ll probably be okay since he started with nothing, then tries to correct himself to ‘definitely’, only to get cut off because Izuku accidentally hangs up in a panic when Inko calls out that she’s home. Haha poor Toshinori, and poor Izuku, the two anxious dumbasses.
Anyways, moving on from that is Inko showing off the jumpsuit she made, with Izuku surprised. She admits it’s not the coolest, but she based it off of the design in his notebook (the one we saw back in chapter 1). She tells him she regrets giving up on him back then, and how he never quit regardless of her faith. She apologizes and says from there on she’ll be cheering him on with all she’s got.
Izuku’s narration notes that it’s a symbol of his mom’s love, and that he couldn’t wear anything else, even if it’s not ‘efficient’ or ‘cutting edge’. (Or even at all decent looking.) And it’s also hinted through the present thoughts on it that it’s meant to be an homage to All Might (the smile and the hair pieces) which is just such a dorky thing.
Tumblr media
We get to the wide-spread of hero costumes, which- wait a second.
Tumblr media
That’s Momo’s initial hero costume design???? Why did Hori not stay with that??? It’s a LOT better than the stuff we’ve seen her in later! Like, sure, it’d still be improved with the main opening being her stomach and not her chest, but this still looks like actual human clothing and not a sexy Halloween costume variant of her hero uniform. Fucking hell, now I’m even more mad.
Tumblr media
Tsuyu’s costume meets the approval of the discord server as basically ‘no changes needed’ asides from maybe the goggles being a bit bulky.
Tumblr media
Tenya’s costume, I’m sorry, I know it’s an homage to your brother / family, but were the additional pipes really needed? Also, the helmet isn’t a bad idea since he goes fast, and bugs in the mouth/teeth have to suck, but it just looks so damned Gundam-y I can’t help but laugh a little.
Tumblr media
Shouto… nah, too easy a target.
Tumblr media
Aoyama is Aoyama. I’m actually a bit disappointed now that it’s not a magical girl costume, but alas, I suppose even Hori couldn’t be that brave.
Tumblr media
Kaminari… I forgot he had that headset thingy.
Don’t really have much else to say about anyone else, so let’s move on.
Izuku bugs out a bit about Ochako’s costume/appearance, while she compliments his more practical looks and laments not being specific, saying it’s a bit too puffy and curvy for her. Which means it’s more the accessories which seem to be her issue with it over the main costume itself? Huh.
Anyways, after All Might confirms they’re all there, he notices Izuku’s headpieces, which are a match to his costume, and has to turn to muffle a laugh for how obvious a reference it is. Tenya steps up, asking whether they’ll be doing cityscape maneuvers again since it’s the same field used in the entrance exam. Izuku thinks to himself how cool Tenya’s costume is, while All Might explains that they’re moving onto step two - indoor anti-personnel battle training!
He explains what while villain battles are most commonly seen outdoors, statistically the worst crimes and villains are more likely to be found indoors. Confinement, house arrest, black market deals… the clever villains luck indoors to avoid heroes. Which is why the class will be split into teams of two and pit against each other, heroes versus villains style!
Tumblr media
Ah, Tsuyu. Calling him right the heck out, as expected. All Might then notes that in this scenario, the fight won’t be against disposable robots.
Tumblr media
This entire page is just fucking hilarious. The class and all their questions while All Might is shaking with nerves. The fucking cheat sheet he uses to try to get back on track. Him being questioned on the lot drawing, and shaking while Izuku accidentally ends up covering for him. I just. All Might was not prepared for this mess and it shows. He was doing so much better when it was the one on one stuff with Izuku.
But yeah, Izuku notes the scenario is like from a western comic plot, and he’s also the one who ‘realizes’ the lots are like when heroes from different agencies have to team up for emergencies without prior warning.
Lots are drawn, and we have our teams:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Izuku’s so stressed out because he still can’t really talk to her, while she’s excited to be teamed up and calls it ‘fate’ that it happened. All Might draws the first two teams to participate, and… team Izuku and Ochako (as the heroes) versus team Katsuki and Tenya (as the villains). Both Izuku and Katsuki are alert from this development…
Which makes this a good point to cut off, since it’s halfway through and we got a lot of information to chew on already. Second part should be out this weekend (hopefully).
