The way Way/leska shippers see Bruce and Miah as these tragic fated best friends when they only knew each other for a few days is so funny to me
not to be a critic of other people's perspective because i'm a firm believer that different interpretations of characters are what make fandom fun, but i personally will never understand the idea that Jeremiah is in any sort of way redeemable or good. which is a big part of Wayleska, from what i gathered, though there's darker versions out there.
it IS funny indeed, i mean they meet in That's Entertainment and 'click' right then(for Jeremiah at least), then we get it somewhat hinted that after Jerome's death they start working on building a respectable amount of Jeremiah's generators and the second they're ready to go he starts his debut performance as Joker. thing is that Xander('good') only ever interacts with Bruce in That's Entertainment— aside from then, the Laughing-Toxin's already poisoning his mind and making him Jeremiah('bad') through and through... assuming that the Toxin is the 'tragedy' of it all?
so, that potential friendship had the duration of ONE day which makes it even fucking funnier.

A random headcanon: Aerith loved cooking with Elmyra when she was little. She smiles innocently while everyone grimaces. Cloud gets an extra helping of ghost pepper every single time.
General Opinion over said character: A+ character with an A+ Story arc. I'm also REALLY glad that Remake remembered to bring back her chaotic gremlin energy from OG. Aerith's mischievousness is one of her most endearing qualities to me and I was over her being Pure Flower Girl for so long lmao. That's only HALF of who she is. The other half is a huge troll. I hope she gets to drop an F-bomb in the next game I really do.

Sexuality Headcanon: obviously syo presents herself as a boy-liker and boy-killer, feels like she might be bi after her experiences with komaru, eventually settles on pan. toko insists that she's straight, but she's prob more bi than anything (once again, after the komaru thing).
Gender Headcanon: toko rings off as cis female to me, syo probably doesn't give a shit especially when she goes by so many gendered names/nicknames in true crime circles that sticking to one is just too much effort. so agender/genderfluid on syo's part, probably?
A ship I have with said character: syomaru and tokomaru, obviously. :'D admittedly i do enjoy syomaru a lil more than tokomaru, if mostly because i feel like they could've been showcased a bit more in UDG. that, and the shenanigan potential with syo and komaru is endless, i want silly casual antics with these two!!
A BROTP I have with said character: i feel like syo and kotoko would be good friends, given the proper opportunity? i think she'd be a good guardian for kotoko! as for toko, i'm kinda growing to have a fondness for her and either aoi or sakura, if only toko would give either of them a chance, dangit!!
A NOTP I have with said character: for the sake of both syo and toko, keep byakuya several leagues away from them. that being said, i do like syo fucking around with him just to piss him off. also people shipping syo and toko romantically is kinda weird, i don't like it
A random headcanon: syo knows how to work with sheet metal and refuses to elaborate how or why. post-UDG, toko and komaru are attempting to collab on a novel together. key word being attempting.
General Opinion over said character: even during the somethingawful LP days, i loved toko and syo and that love still holds strong even now. syo's a very fun character, but even beyond that, she adds some interesting facets to toko's character even if she wasn't exactly handled the best in her inception. as for toko, i'm probably one of the few people who did like her even before UDG; comedic assholes are my weakness. i do agree toko felt like she wasn't really fully utilized in DR1's main story though, so it's nice she got some expansion in UDG, as well as a genuine friend. ;o;
obviously there's people more qualified than i am in talking about them (esp in regards to their histories, their arc in UDG, and the whole DID thing), but i can still appreciate syo and toko as characters even if i can't articulate all the more complicated stuff regarding them.
also i REALLY enjoy seeing fun and fluffy stuff with syo, and your animations are a fantastic example of that! yandere/yangire stuff is kinda overplayed, so it's really nice seeing silly stuff with the silly serial killer!

A ship I have with said character: (Sparta Remix voice) TSU-MI-O-DA. I'm so fond of bandaid for honestly too many reasons to list in one paragraph. I actually had a whole thing written out for this ... but I'm saving that for something more ambitious. Suffice to say for now that they were high school besties in a group with another wlw couple, they'd support each other and give so much of themselves without asking or being asked, and they just seem real cute together. As for the whole "one killed the other" thing, well, that's the kind of spicy drama that turns regular ships into epic romance. Again, saving my thoughts for later.
A BROTP I have with said character: I'm surprised at how little exploration I've seen of Mikan’s relationship with Mukuro Ikusaba. None were closer, more enthralled with, and more completely under the thumb of Junko Enoshima than her twin and her girlfriend. None know her more intimately, and none were more directly abused. Imagine Mikan treating Mukuro for wounds sustained while carrying out Junko's orders, the two growing closer over time, Mukuro standing up for Mikan after Junko takes things too far, the two realizing how much the other suffers and in turn realizing how toxic this whole thing is for themselves, and changing their canon fates by escaping together ... Damn, are there any fanfics like this? (This is also an awesome romantic ship, obvi)
A NOTP I have with said character: There's plenty of merit to Mikan/Nagito (Florence Nightingale syndrome, anyone?), but I'm too amused by the idea of them as "worsties" to consider any other relationship. Nagito has a bitchy side waiting to be unleashed against an embodiment of pure despair, and Mikan will go for the fucking jugular if confronted with a total asshole who's also a socially acceptable punching bag. Cut them loose and let them fight!!
A random headcanon: someone on Reddit once asked, in a context I can't begin to recall, whether Mikan would prefer AVGN or Nostalgia Critic. I said the latter would trigger her because Doug Walker always stares straight at the viewer and often addresses his insults to movies and their makers in second-person. Mikan would not like a man yelling "FUCK YOU FUCK YOU" right into her face. James Rolfe's comparably dynamic cinematography and directed critiques would be more to her liking. So if I just ignore how unlikely a Japanese teen might be (or might not be?) to watch English-speaking American content creators, sure, headcanon
General Opinion over said character: SDR2 Chapter 3 was so hard because I lost both my fave chars from the game. I loved Mikan right from the jump. Maybe because I have a tendency to apologize more than I oughta, and I'm familiar with the feeling (thankfully less frequent now) that no one in a given room wants me around. That aside, she's interesting, funny, sympathetic, capable of great courage that saves the day (piping up about puncture wounds in the first trial), so troubled but not beyond saving ... well, until, ya know. But even then, she wasn't herself, and that's what makes it so much more tragic.

How do I explain this but basically this notion that whatever traumas/hidden reasonings he has needs to be broken down and he's actually, like, nice? I don't vibe with it. but okay. I'll take it seriously. I've liked them both on occasion, although my familiarity with them, especially dickory, is very limited and took place several years ago.
I've also disliked them both on occasion. recently I reread jason's canon team up with the titans from back in the 80s, and during that time dick (who had left the team) reaaaaaally channeled his inner bruce, aka was a HUGE asshole, when he got his feelings hurt lmfao.
otoh, the most recent dick/babs I've seen (barring the last two issues of nightwing, where I didn't like their vibes either tbqh), is the version from young justice. I decided to rewatch so I could watch s4 with everything recent, and I decided hey, I might as well read the tie-in comics.
said tie-in comics turned yj!dickbabs from "meh" to "get that NOTP out of my sight" xD
(and I got my wish in season 4! at the very least I didn't have to see them awkwardly pushed forward or really interact at all lol, but I also like to take what jason bard said in 4x06 as confirmation of a breakup xDD)

mmmm this is probably a more #controversial answer but... i used to enjoy the various gate theories but i'm hella burnt out on all of them now. they were fun concepts for fic or whatever but they're pretty much worn into the ground and i don't /srs believe in any of them. they stopped being fun to me months ago so i just ignore them now, i might block the tags tbh.

Fandom noTPs: The Mandalorian
Okay, this might sound a bit weird but Din/Luke.
It's funny because Luke has been my favorite character in the franchise since I was eleven years old. And Din Djarin supplants him now on the basis of clearly having been created in a lab to hit every one of my kinks. So I should love the idea.
But...no. Sorry.
And honestly, it's primarily because of the fanon tropes. DinLuke fans seem like lovely people but I find the commonly accepted interpretation of the characters completely unrecognizable.
Like, I'm not sure who the feral disaster twink is in these stories. He kind of reminds me of fanon!Jaskier or fanon!Stiles before him. But that's not the Luke Skywalker I know.
And don't get me started on the sheer absurdity of sexually aggressive Din Djarin.
Or love martyr!Luke/asshole!Din. (I saw one fic recently that promised to be about their religious differences, but I was fortunate that I decided to read the comments first and everyone was commiserating about how Luke was trying so hard to accept Din's religious restrictions while he was just scornful and mocking of Luke's. And maybe it's just because I JUST watched the poor man go through the ringer trying to see the baby that he literally lost or willingly sacrificed every other aspect of his life, only to leave heartbroken, after being told that it would be harmful to him if they met again. But I've rarely been so quick to hit the backbutton.)
No offense intended, folks, but we're not on the page when it comes to these characters. And that's cool! You do you, and I'll go enjoy the pairings that fit my particular interpretations better.

Roronoa Zoro the actual love of my life. Sanji was a very close immediate second (that I dragged my feet about forever bc I have to be like tsuntsun and obnoxious about everything) and then like 18 subsequent people, but Zoro was my first and my dearest. <3
a character that i used to love/like, but now do not:
I don't really have anything for this, or at least not that I can think of beyond like. Kaku from Galley-La, who seemed like a really chill dude until he wasn't lmfao. Maybe like. Usopp's gf from waaaaay way back in the beginning, though it's not even that I liked her and don't anymore and more that I just do not. Ever think about her lmfao. Usually my instincts aren't super wrong in this series, everyone I've loved I love still.
a ship that i used to love/like, but now do not:
Again I don't really have anything for this, its less that I liked a ship and don't anymore and more that I've cycled through things I liked earlier that just don't really have my attention now bc the story has been off of them for so long. Usopp and his East Blue GF are like this, I used to be pretty hardcore Nami/Vivi, and I still really love the pairing!!! but I haven't seen Vivi in like. 400ish episodes? and so my attention has sort of cycled off into more recent/immediate things.
my ultimate favorite character™:
At the end of the day it's Luffy, isn't it? No matter how dearly I love anyone else, my heart always comes back to the best boy, oh captain my captain, I'd literally sail into hell for him. I think there's just something so beautifully, tenderly, viciously human about him, no matter where the story takes him, and I can't give the top spot to anyone else. There are lots of facets and contexts to which love and interest can be attributed and in other contexts the list might look different, but in terms of overall, objective favorites? It's Luffy forever. <3
prettiest character:
Genuinely not sure how to choose between Ace and Sanji and Law for this one. There are TON of like really really gorgeous people in this series by like varying metrics of attractiveness, but these three are like. The prettiest people I've ever seen, like. Got me on the actual floor every day, they're just breathtaking.
my most hated character:
I've got a couple of different answers for this bc it feels like I need to. Blackbeard, for literally everything he's done. Garp, for not being able to summon enough fucking humanity to tell a 10 year old that it's okay for him to exist, and that he isn't guilty of the sins of his father. Doflamingo, although this one is complicated by how interesting and necessary to the story I feel he is (juxtaposed with Blackbeard, who is v necessary to the story but is a spineless little cowardly worm that I'd like to squish with my shoe. 0/10 not interesting also killing him with beams).
Squard. Whitebeard may have forgiven you but I fucking don't.
Vander Decken. Pedophile. Arlong. Piece of shit asshole. Caesar Clown. There's a bunch of people in this series I'd like to hit with a rock forever lmfao.

How on earth could I possibly lmfaooooo I. Here I'm gonna cheat, there's one called the Episode of East Blue that's like a little movie of the beginning of the series. That is what I will choose. There are bits and pieces of other episodes that I like to go back and rewatch, but bc the story is told the way it is, everything gets spread out and so mostly individual episodes just have pieces parts of what I love. I could do favorite arc though, like. Water7/Enies Lobby I wish there was some way to scrub it outta my brain so I could watch it for the first time again, it's so fucking incredible I'll scream.

Hysterically, as much as I love it and am very pro Skypiea, I think in the scheme of everything I've watched up until now it's the lowest on the list? I wanna be clear, I fucking LOVED Skypiea, but like. If you pit it against like, Alabasta, or Water7, or Marineford, or 3D2Y, or Punk Hazard My Beloved, it just doesn't quite stand as tall.

Usopp. For the most part it's because I find him incredibly frustrating, even now in the post-time skip era where he's undergone all his New World Training and Preparation I just. My BROTP for them
ok i have a few answers for this like a copout but first of all i think that alpha dave/john crocker is a friendship that should last the ages. second of all alpha dave/beta bro can be a really interesting dynamic however you slice it. the run and go has one of my favorite depictions of them together.
My OTP for them
alpha dave and alpha rose... the alpha universe gives me so many fucking feelings wrt them. i've read so many good fics about them and their relationship--the fics aren't always romantic, but i strongly feel that out of any version of dave and rose these two would have the closest thing to a fullblown romantic relationship, as tragic as it may be.
also even in a non-tragic non-canon timeline they're just kind of perfect, like. laura's written not just one but two fluffy/funny alpha rose/alpha dave fics that i have reread quite a few times.
My second choice pairing for them
what would my life be without alphacest. alpha dave/dirk is just my particular brand of... so usually i write it as 'guilty older dave worried about fucking up his teenage brother/son while dirk is just ALL the way in'.
i also enjoy asshole alpha dave, tho, or a dave who thinks he's doing right by dirk but is definitely not?? just. oh my god. i could link so many fics right now. i love good writing. i love alphacest. i love these two fuckers. here's a regency era asshole davedirk series (read all of that author's fics plz they're so good) and a good older brother dave fic (ditto)

i feel i ought to mentioned davekat somewhere on this list, so i might as well do it here!! i like it as two goofy idiots where dave drives karkat up the wall. so you know, like all of davekat? there's a currently ongoing fic about karkat as a movie critic that i like a lot and need to catch up with.

so i got a buddy who infected my brain with noncon davecest and their aus feed a certain brutal itch.
(also, daverose again. i love it as a tragedy. you know that post going around that's like "the love was there. it didn't change anything, but it matters that it was there." you know that one? oof.)

Hm .. I'd have to say Arata and Nimue for the OTP, like obviously I have other ships I like for her but that was her very first ship + ic crush I had her written up with in her original verse. As for Negaduck, gonna have to be Morgana. But that's just me.

I haven't found anything for Nimue yet that I don't like. Well .. Hm .. actually yeah I do let me correct myself. Nikolai & Fyodor in a polyship w. her. Why? Because she basically was about to be pushed to forgive the asshole for trying to kill her and actively pushing her buttons and she was practically called childish for rightfully being hateful / angry towards Fyodor for it. Because of this I now refuse to ship her w. Nikolai or Fyodor if another one comes around. As for Negaduck, due to my disinterest in selfcest, I'm not really too interested in drake x negaduck / darkwing x negaduck. Also no thanks @ nega launchpad x negaduck because it might as well be a splitoff of drakepad and thanks to anons I have an extreme hate for that ship.

Vi or Gideon for the character ask game! :)
gonna do gideon because all my opinons on vi boil down to "i just think she's neat" (and also i like the way u portray her in ur fics). my two opinions
(ask meme. send me blorboi)
favorite thing about them: i love how gideon is good at some things and bad at others. like, she's perceptive and understands a lot about stuff that makes sense to her (swords), but she's also totally oblivious and short-sighted and doesn't pay close attention to things that bore her. and that's just a great trait to have in a protagonist, you see her shine, you see where she doesn't. makes her rounded and likeable.
least favorite thing about them: nothing she's perfect. the only two points in her narration when i disagreed with her was when she called abigail and cytherea's conversation boring (noo gideon historical trivia is actually very interesting) and when she condemmned ianthe's decision to throw augustine into the stoma (ianthe sucks but if she hadn't done that the Sun Would Have Gone Out.) but those aren't bad moments or anything they're in character and work well. i love her. #girl
favorite line: ok this is a tough one. i think it might be "This is Gideon Nav Talking Time". like. the assertiveness. the 'i am not taking this bullshit anymore of it'. it's glorious
brOTP: okay this is a weird one but hear me out. ianthe. i just thikn the brief dynamic they have at the end of Ht9 of Gideon being like 'you're a horrible creep and very evil please stop making such funny jokes' is really endearing. but also palamedes as like the first genuine real friend she has is also a heartwarming classic. my brOTP is gideon/any friends at all honestly
OTP: i mean her and harrow obviously. are they unhealthy and insane and codependent? yeah. so what. let the #girls have a fucked up relationship in media for once i say. its feminism
nOTP: ok its not so much a nOTP but i do think everyone who thinks that gideon/coronabeth would be healthy or even functional has a HUGE misreading of coronabeth. they're attracted to each other, for sure, but as an actual relationship they'd be awful for each other and it'd end in disaster.
random headcanon: adhd gideon isn't a hot take but adhd gideon.
unpopular opinion: every time i see a post arguing that gideon is 'actually smart' i'm like, idk, nonplussed. just feels like takes like that devalue the actual strengths and forms of intelligence she shows in order to frame them in a more, like, traditional way? lame.

BITCH BOY. KEN DOLL. anyway. this one's a little (a lot) longer than the soap one so under a read more it goes.
favorite thing about them: how fucking insane he is when it comes to playing the game of being a clandestine cia agent. like. this man plays people like violins and then sets them up to play in the orchestra. it's terrifying! and incredibly satisfying on some horrific way. AND the fact that he's doing all this while looking like The Guy's Guy of the late 70's early 80's- i've said to (well... you) before about the fact that adler looks like what a lot of (white) men of that era wished they could be. bitchin' scars action hero and all.
least favorite thing about them: ...........the way that the fandom writes him 8 times out of 10........................ sorry y'all SDFHKSHDFS....... i can only withstand so much woobification and uwuifying.... but also the way he holds his fucking cigarette i KNOW there's some fun psychology behind it but. why does he hold it like that it's aNNOYING
favorite line: "you ever been attacked by a tiger, bell? .......ok." ITS SO FUNNY WHY DOES HE SAY OK LIKE THAT

nOTP: WELL. this is. specific. bc i could probably be convinced of most ships if they're written well enough or in an interesting way but i have to say most bell/der squicks me out considering the tendencies toward immediate forgiveness of the whole. metaphorically scraping bell's brain out, putting it in a blender, and shoving it back in with all new stats attached for personal gain bit. ALSO park / adler. aside from any kind of fling they might have which could be fun it's just not for me!
random headcanon: adler has two brothers (which i think is?? almost canon?? idek i'll have to double check), of which he's the youngest of the three of them- kurt, arno, and russell. (i have wholeheartedly accepted @samatedeansbroccoli's headcanon of adler being born in germany (and all that those headcanons entail as well!!), hence the german-heavy names). adler being the youngest also adds to the fact that literally everything he does has some personal undertones (or overtones) to it, almost like he has to prove himself and continue proving himself even with his fairly successful overall time as a clandestine officer in the cia.
ADDITION TO RANDOM HEADCANON: i also could see how brad pitt kind of embodies adler but like TRULY i can only see robert redford.
unpopular opinion: i can see the appeal to adler having some kind of insecurities and regrets below his surface but TRULY. GENUINELY. i think this man is good at most of what he does and he knows it. he's hot, he's intelligent, he plays the game and plays it well, he's got some of the most skilled individuals pulling for him at all times, adler would not function as he does in the games if he wasn't through and through confident as hell and more than kind of an asshole about it.
