hey girly. i know this might be a bit different to what you’re asked, but i’m desperate to fix my posture. i already sit and stand straight but my shoulders are always hunched no matter what i do. my back also hurts if i put my shoulders completely straight. any advice or tips?
thank you so much. hope you’re doing well in the new position xoxo
Hi love! Thank you so much. I appreciate the well wishes xx
I would say focus on keeping your back, not shoulders, straight. In practice, this means:
Trying not to hit the back of your chair/sitting on a chair/couch with a backing behind you
Ensuring your laptop/book/devise is raised to eye level (adjust your desk, chair, or use a stand)
I cross my legs for straighter posture but that can be one of those "do as I say, not as I do" types of tips
Focus on keeping your head up (this is a more effective method than you initially realize, in my experience)
Hope this helps xx

I like to make fun of Zog for him being short, but it's likely due to age. He's old, you know? Now it would be funny if after his resurrection he regained his height, but it doesn't make much of a difference. He's still short.

WHY YOGA IS IMPORTANT NOW DAYS
Yoga is like a special place in our hectic world, where taking care of ourselves can be difficult. It's not only about getting in shape; it also makes us feel better mentally. Yoga may feel exhausting at first, but if we stick with it, good things begin to happen. Yoga is about linking our bodies and thoughts for complete health, not simply workouts. It's an ancient exercise that involves meticulous movements and attentive breathing to care for our inner selves. The peace we receive during yoga follows us outside of it. When life gets tough, it helps us stay strong and calm. So, don't forget about yoga. It acts as a guide, leading us to feel happy and be genuine to ourselves.
Stress Reduction - High levels of stress and anxiety are common in modern life. Yoga offers helpful approaches for stress management, relaxation, and total mental well-being. Regular practice can boost mental toughness and create a sense of inner serenity.
Posture Correction - Sitting at a desk for long periods of time and using electronic gadgets can lead to bad posture and other health issues. Yoga positions can help realign the spine, improve posture, and alleviate musculoskeletal pain.
Concentration and focus have improved - Yoga cultivates attention and concentration in a world full of distractions. Yoga increases mental clarity, cognitive function, and productivity through various asanas (poses) and breathing techniques.
Physical Fitness - Yoga incorporates a wide range of positions and motions that develop flexibility, strength, and balance. It provides a comprehensive approach to physical fitness for people of all ages and fitness levels.

STRETCH STRETCH STRETCH!
Tumblr media
Stretching keeps the muscles flexible, strong, and healthy, and we need that flexibility to maintain a range of motion in the joints. Without it, the muscles shorten and become tight. Then, when you call on the muscles for activity, they are weak and unable to extend all the way. -> HARVARD HEALTH
Tumblr media
INNER BENEFITS:
Improved Flexibility: Stretching helps increase the range of motion in your joints and muscles, promoting flexibility. This can enhance your ability to perform everyday activities and maintain proper posture.
Reduced Muscle Tension and Stiffness: Stretching helps release tension in the muscles, reducing stiffness. This is especially beneficial for individuals who may experience muscle tightness due to prolonged periods of sitting or physical inactivity.
Enhanced Circulation: Stretching increases blood flow to the muscles, which helps deliver oxygen and nutrients. Improved circulation contributes to better overall cardiovascular health.
Better Posture: Regular stretching can improve posture by correcting muscle imbalances and reducing the strain on specific areas, such as the neck, shoulders, and lower back.
Prevention of Injuries: Stretching before physical activity can prepare your muscles and joints, reducing the risk of injuries. It promotes better flexibility and helps your body adapt to various movements.
Increased Relaxation: Stretching, particularly when combined with deep breathing, can induce a sense of relaxation and reduce stress. It helps calm the mind and promotes mental well-being.
Enhanced Athletic Performance: Athletes often include stretching as part of their training routine to improve performance. Flexible muscles and joints contribute to better agility, balance, and coordination.
Alleviation of Aches and Pains: Stretching can be beneficial for individuals experiencing muscle discomfort or mild aches. It helps alleviate tension and can provide relief from certain types of pain.
Improved Range of Motion: Regular stretching helps maintain or increase your range of motion, allowing you to move more freely and comfortably.
Mind-Body Connection: Engaging in stretching exercises promotes a mind-body connection. Focusing on your body's movements and sensations can enhance mindfulness and reduce mental stress.
Better Circulation to Joints: Stretching helps improve blood flow to the joints, promoting joint health and flexibility. This can be especially important as you age to maintain mobility.
AESTHETIC BENEFITS:
Improved Posture: Regular stretching can help correct muscular imbalances and promote better posture. As you stand taller and align your body more effectively, your overall appearance may be enhanced.
Longer and Leaner Appearance: Stretching can create a longer and leaner appearance by elongating muscles. This may contribute to a more streamlined and graceful physique.
Reduced Muscle Tension: Stretching helps alleviate muscle tension, which can make your body look and feel more relaxed. Relaxed muscles often contribute to a smoother and more aesthetically pleasing physique.
Enhanced Muscle Definition: By increasing flexibility and range of motion, stretching may enhance muscle definition. Well-stretched muscles can appear more sculpted, especially when combined with strength training exercises.
Improved Circulation and Skin Tone: Stretching promotes better blood circulation, delivering oxygen and nutrients to your skin. This improved blood flow can contribute to a healthier complexion and skin tone.
Prevention of Muscular Imbalances: Stretching can help prevent and address muscular imbalances, ensuring that your body develops proportionally. Balanced muscle development contributes to a more aesthetically pleasing physique.
Reduced Appearance of Cellulite: While not a direct solution, regular stretching may help improve blood circulation and reduce the appearance of cellulite in some individuals.
Enhanced Flexibility for Functional Movements: Improved flexibility from stretching can make functional movements more graceful. This increased ease of movement can contribute to an overall more aesthetically pleasing appearance.
Relaxed Facial Expressions: Stretching, especially when combined with relaxation techniques, can contribute to a more relaxed facial expression. This can positively impact how others perceive your overall demeanour.
Elongated Muscles: Consistent stretching can give your muscles an elongated appearance, contributing to a more elegant and refined look.

"cultural analysis" youtubers read something that isn't a medium/vouge/vox op-ed as research challange
#creating a new aesthetic called echo chamber core#edit. started thinking about it and actually i think my head died during the aesthetics vs subculture vid why did i watch that.#the bizzare way it ostensibly sets out to critique subcultures reduction to “fashion” or whatever while entirely reducing the concept of#subculture to fashion throughout the video. the seemingly willful misunderstanding of subculture studies origins to make a cheap crack#about 1920s cultural studies “not being interested in women” (also: not true).#the fact that its a 40 minute long video on aesthetics that never once mentions nazism but has a shout out to cottagecore being a positive#new subcultural group.#the annoyance at calling light blue nails “blueberry milk nails” as a “trendy signifier” when that type of naming is exactly like whats#on an actual nail polish bottle. just. the level of internet brain that is unble to fathom subcultures still existing outside the internet#or the idea that fashion isn't always the primary expression of subculture.#the circular fashion brained argument that “how you dress can no longer be counter cultural or revolutionary because everyone can buy a#shein dupe miu miu skirt now"#while acknowledging that working class brittish people's participation in subculture (for instance)#did not improve their financial or social situation#but at the same time not mentioning the arguably inherent fashion marketing origins of punk fashion.#the insistence on constantly citing one single person of origin for internet trends.#the reoccurring narrative of claimed “deeper capitalist critiquing“ fashion movements being ”co-opted“ and appropriated as#”less deep“ fashion marketing trends by big fashion inc. as if that kind of#posture of anticapitalist agenda and confusing pseudo intellectualism (health goth manifesto) isn't commonly occuring in fashion marketing.#like people dont walk down fashion week runways wearing tulle maxi dresses spelling “fuck capitalism”.#or žižek didn't write copy for an a&f mag#recuperation 101

How do I fix my posture?
Pull your shoulders back, so you have a straight back and your shoulder blades aren't rounded like when you're hunched over
Keep your head held high without gazing upward (when the bottom of your chin would be visible from a front-facing profile)
Allow yourself to expand your chest, so you're not hunched over. Become comfortable with taking up space
Keep your hands at your sides or let your hands touch in the front (the latter while sitting or standing)
Don't cross your legs – keep them side-by-side when standing or sitting. Cross your ankles for some discretion or comfort if you're sitting
Remember to keep your back straight (standing or while in a chair) and maintain an eye-level gaze to hold better posture throughout a conversation or during a day
Hope this helps
