I had the chance to commission Kahl'ryn from @psychededoodle. I have no words for how much I love this. Everything, all the details, the expression, the scar, the cybernetics, everything is so well done!!
And with this amazing portrait - I'm gonna talk a bit about Kahl and what he is up to in my Arclight AU. So... some rambling thoughts under the cut. :)
For reference: The Arclight AU is a melting pot of various sci-fi franchises. Star Wars, Farscape, WildStar, Star Trek, to just name a few. However, the core of it is Star Wars. A lot of the universe rules are Star Wars rules - such as how space travel works and the Force.
The major players from Star Wars include: the Galactic Empire, the Mandalorians, the Sith Empire, the Chiss Ascendancy, the High Republic, and the Grysk Hegemony.
Much like swtor!Kahl, arclight!Kahl was born in the Sith Empire. His father is the (now former) Sith Lord Xhai'tan. He was trapped in a burning building when he was a child, which is how he got the burn scars. He joined the Imperial Academy and joined Imperial Intelligence upon graduating. Some of his first missions included hunting down terrorists and stopping Darth Jadus. For his double agent arc however, he didn't infiltrate the SIS.
In Arclight the Sith Empire is mostly at odds with the Dominion from WildStar. So, Kahl is tasked with infiltrating the Dominion and carrying out his mission there. The Star Cabal is still a threat and Kahl eventually dismantles it.
Now things really start to diverge. You see, most everything from Shadow of Revan onward doesn't happen. So how does my boy meet Theron?
I made the executive decision that since the Republic isn't the same Republic as in swtor and isn't the power in direct conflict with the Sith Empire, that Theron would instead be from the Dominion. ((I know, I know, not the best allegory if you know anything about the Dominion - like they live up to their name. Does make it way easier for Theron to defect though.))
Then I needed the catalyzing event. Enter the Dread Masters. They were imprisoned by the Dominion, but they escape but with Emperor Vitiate dead (did I mention that? no? So, yeah Emperor Vitiate does die, and after a short war between the Sith, Acina comes out on top and takes the Throne - this is also the time of Malgus's first betrayal,) they go rogue.
Kahl is called in to help with the situation by Lana and she eventually wrangles the help of Theron in tracking and defeating the Dread Masters. Much like in Shadow of Revan, Kahl and Theron grow close.
Then the tradegy of Grismara happens. For those unfamiliar with WildStar. Grismara was home to the Mordesh. A elf-like species who were masters of science, alchemy, and art. They were arrogant and proud, sure of their own superiority. That was until the Everlife Elixir, developed by their most lauded scientist became their curse. The Everlife was meant to give immortality, and they trusted Dr. Lazarin so much that it was distributed worldwide. Then the Everlife became the Contagion. Everyone (and the lore implies everyone) slowly turned into super aggressive mindless cannibals (basically zombies).
Grismara was a neutral world on the edge of Sith and Dominion borders. Both sides were trying to ally with them, but when the Contagion broke out - the Sith turned their back on the world and the Dominion set up a blockade and quarantined it.
Kahl and Theron disobeyed orders to try and help the Mordesh. During that terrible year long attempt at saving the Mordesh, Dr. Lazarin made a small break through. He created the Vitalis Serum, which delayed the effects of the Contagion, but also required frequent injections. The remaining Mordesh were trapped in a half-life. They no longer age (they got their immortality) but they also are unable to have children unless a cure can be found.
Kahl and Theron organized for the last of the Mordesh, to escape. Taking them to the Odessen Coalition. A small and new coalition of planets that came together with the help of Xhai'tan (Kahl's father) and Thrass (who is alive and rescued by Xhai'tan - That is another books of thoughts so if you are curious about how Thrass fits in here feel free to ask.)
With the fall of Grismara, Kahl and Theron defect and join the Coalition. Kahl eventually commanding a heavy cruiser as part of the Maarasu Nighthunters - the Odessen Defense Force division in charge of covert operations and missions that take place beyond the borders of the Coalition. It is Kahl who finds Thrawn and Ezra where they have been stranded for 7 years (again another book of thoughts that I can talk about later). Kahl then goes on to support Thrawn, Thrass, Eli, and the others Chiss fighting to save the Ascendancy.
I'll stop there but....yeah so lots of thoughts.....enjoy!

Movie Nights and Pillow Forts. (Hournite)
Tumblr media
Summary: The team has a movie night and Beth and Rick share a pillow fort.
Warning: None
Categorie: Fluff
Read notes at the end.
The week had been hectic for the new JSA, fourteen tests collectively, a fitness gram in Beth's gym class, six late assignments for Rick, and sleep deprived Courtney and Yolanda were not having any good times. And that's not even mentioning the ISA and their mysterious plans.
Pat tried to take it easy on them during training, his parental instincts telling him something was wrong.
As they walked into Pit Stop for their training session on Friday, they found the training room to be void of equipment. No half made puppets of the ISA, no punching bags or targets to aim at.
The team gave Pat a questioning look and he explained himself.
"We're gonna try something different. You guys have had a hard week and over exerting yourselves isn't helping anyone out in the long run. So you're gonna take it easy for today."
"Thanks dad," Yolanda and Rick joked.
"So what are we going to do?" Courtney questioned.
"Just some easy team building excercises. You all have to feel just as comfortable being together as you do being apart."
"We do," Beth defended brightly, but shrunk at how everyone stared at her. "at least, I do."
"Yeah, no thanks. Team building excercises? This isn't summer camp and I'm not three." Rick stated.
"Be nice, Pat's just trying to help." Beth chided.
Rick rolled his eyes but complied.
"So what did you have in mind?" Yolanda requested.
"Well, just something easy, hopefully that you'll find fun. Get you guys a little de-stressd."
"Pillow forts!" Beth exclaimed.
"I'm sorry, what?" Rick turned to her.
"Pillow Forts. I never had any friends to make pillow forts or have sleepovers with, but they always seemed super fun to make." she explained brightly, not even realizing the sadness in that statement.
Rick's heart hurt at the underlying weight of the words she didn't even realize was there. He understood what it was like to feel alone. He wanted to reach out and hold her hand but he didn't.
Courtney smiled at the girl and said, "I think that's a great idea, we could build them together as a team-"
"And Chuck could project a movie while we're inside. We could totally have a sleepover." Beth proposed.
"And where are going to get pillows to make the forts, this is a car shop not a mattress firm." Yolanda brought up.
"Pat can go home and get stuff." Courtney offered.
The team looked to Pat, the girls had pleading eyes and Rick looked plain uninterested.
"I don't see why not." Pat said.
Smiles took over the girls' faces and Courtney highfived her friends.
"Ooh, and I could get snacks from my house. Just get on comms and tell me what you guys want." Beth offered. "Of course, if you're willing to drop me off, Mr. Dugan." she said sheepishly.
"Sure, kiddo."
"Yay!"
"Okay, well, let's get going. Court, I'll tell your mom you're staying over at a friend's house, the rest of you call your parents and let them know you'll be out."
"It's fine, my parents probably won't even notice I'm gone." Yolanda grumbled bitterly.
"Same here," Beth chided. "They work at night a lot now that I'm older."
Rick stayed silent, wondering if his uncle would come home at all that night. Not that he'd bother to check on the boy.
"Okay, well be back soon," Beth smiled, grabbing her goggles our of her bag and running out the door to catch up with Pat who had already gone outside.
The three teens stood in silence for a bit before Courtney and Yolanda started looking for good spots to set up their fort.
"Don't forget comms," Courtney reminded before turning hers on.
Yolanda and Rick followed her example and were met with Beth's voice.
"Alright, we're almost at my house, what movie were you guys thinking of watching?"
"Umm, we're not really sure, what can Chuck play?" Courtney replied.
"He can do anything really, oh wait, okay, anything but badly done historical drama or science fiction. He prefers something more accurate."
"But isn't the entire point of both those genes the fact that they're dramatic and fictional?" Rick queried.
"Chuck says some stuff just goes too off the charts. It's more the inaccuracy that irks him. What about something from the 80's, that's always fun. Maybe something like The Breakfast Club, or Heathers." she proposed.
"Nah, not Heathers. That Kurt guy was a real asshole." Rick chided.
Courtney and Yolanda turned to him in confusion, surprised he knew anything about the dark teen drama.
Rick simply shrugged his shoulders.
"Okay, we're at my house, gimme a minute while I look for my keys. Be right back." Beth said before their connection cut out.
"Kurt was an asshole?" Yolanda prodded
"What?" Rick defended. "Beth told me a bit about the movie."
Courtney snickered.
"You shouldn't say profanities around Beth. It would be a shame if her Prince Charming was a bad influence."
"What's that supposed to mean?" Rick interrogated
"Nothing," Courtney shrugged before giving Yolanda a knowing look.
"What?" Rick pushed.
The girls only shook their heads. He was about to say something else when Beth came back online.
"Hey guys, sorry, I kept dropping my keys. What do you guys feel like. There's a ton of chips. And some chocolates. Ooh, I found a huge bag of candy from Halloween. It's still closed!"
"Uh-" Courtney was interrupted.
"Popcorn is a must." Beth added before the sound of something being placed in a bag took over the coms.
"Are you just taking everything?" Yolanda asked.
"Pretty much, yeah." Beth confirmed. "And Pat shouldn't be back for another fifteen minutes so I should have time to grab some pajamas."
"Oh, that's smart. We're just going to be sleeping in our school clothes." Courtney stated.
"Actually, I have some clean gym clothes in my bag, a few shirts and a couple pairs of shorts. You can borrow some." Yolanda supplied.
"What about you, Rick?" Beth spoke.
"It's fine."
"No, come on, we're all gonna have something to wear. I'm sure I can find something, or maybe Pat can get you some clothes."
"It's okay, really."
"Nope, too late, I already have clothes for us."
"How are you so fast?" Courtney wondered aloud.
"I'm magical." Beth joked.
Rick almost said 'yes, you are.' But pushed that thought down to the furthest reaches of his soul.
"Maybe something scary?" Yolanda said.
"I'm not a huge fan of scary movies." Beth replied.
"What about a rom-com?" Courtney offered
"No way." Rick opposed.
"How about Twilight." Courtney said.
"No!" Rick and Yolanda exclaimed in unison.
"Harry Potter?"
"We don't stan JK these days." Beth expressed, earning a nod from Yolanda.
"How about a mystery movie?" Rick proposed for the first time.
"I'm unopposed." Yolanda declared.
"Me too," Courtney agreed.
"Okay, I'll if there's any mysteries Chuck reccomends. He says he likes Clue." Beth provided.
"Sounds good." Courtney replied
"Yeah, sure." Yolanda answered.
" M'kay," Rick added.
"I'll be back, I need to get the rest of my stuff."
"Rest of your stuff," Courtney began. "I thought you had everything, what else are you-"
"Bye guys!"
"-getting?"
Courtney quickly shrugged it off before guiding Yolanda to once again look for a place to set up their pillow fort.
Rick leaned against the table behind him until Pat and Beth got back a bit later.
The short girl came in wheeling a suitcase behind her.
"What do you have in there?" Yolanda was first to question.
"Food, clothes, nail polish, some toiletries, pillows, blankets. Just the basics."
"Isn't Pat already bringing blankets? That might be too many."
"We're making pillow forts, is there ever such a thing as too many blankets?"
"That's fair." Courtney input.
Pat came in, sliding a cardboard box against the floor.
"These are some covers we never unpacked and I have pillows in the car." The man announced.
"This is going to be so much fun." Beth proclaimed, opening her suitcase and pulling out five blankets. Two pillows that had been shoved inside sprung out and we're grabbed by the girl. "So, where are we making these?"
"Court and I decided we'd have a place over here," Yolanda pointed to a corner below the stairs. "And we would tie some of the blankets up and let them hang down and then we could space the sides out with the stools."
"Nice," Beth complimented. "How about you Rick?"
"Umm...I don't really know how to make a pillow fort." He stated plainly.
"Oh, that's okay, I can help you. I read up on it during the ride back."
Rick nodded his head curtly before standing up straight and allowing the girl in front of him to lead the way.
With arms crossed over his chest, the boy listened intently to Beth as she rattled on about all the different ways and places they could put up the fort. He felt strangely giddy at the amount of excitement in the girls voice.
The two settled on a spot next to Courtney and Yolanda, choosing a similar approach to the construction of the fort. Beth ran up the metal stairs and instructed Rick to toss up a blanket. She tied two of the ends around the rails of the walkway and repeated the steps until the fort had four 'walls'.
Beth ran down to Rick, who was tossing pillows inside the fort, taking an excited look at their creation.
"And for some added structure," the girl grabbed two foldable chairs from across the room, dragging them to the fort, placing them inside. She moved one back until it, and the fabric covering it, met Courtney and Yolanda's stool. She then moved the other side approximately the same distance on the side parallel.
Beth emerged from the fort all smiles. Rick embraced the slight smile that made it's way onto his face when he saw her ecstatic expression. She raised her hand to highfive him which he awkwardly returned.
Pat had sat watching the kids build their forts, happy that they were having fun, but stood when he realized it was getting dark.
"Okay, I'm gonna head home. Please, keep everything in one piece. And Court," Pat gave the blonde a pointed look, " the staff comes home with me."
"What?" Courtney, who had built her fort with the help of the staff, asked caught off guard
"Yes. I'm going home and it needs to come with me. It had to go back in its box for the night. I'm glad the two of you..." he struggled to find a word," bonded. But it needs to go back home."
"But Pat," Courtney groaned.
"No 'but pat's, it needs to go back home." he stated softly.
Courtney looked at the glowing stick that levitates next to her. She pouted, but moved her head in Pat's direction, signaling the staff to go with him.
"See you tomorrow," she told it.
"There's a mini fridge and a microwave in my office. Remember, one piece. Night kids, have fun." Pat chided as he walked out the door.
"Goodnight Mr. Dugan." Beth called.
When he drove off, the teens sat in silence before Beth spoke up.
"I'm gonna go heat up some popcorn. There's snacks in my bag and Rick, I brought some clothes for you to change into."
"Thanks." he said as she tossed a large t-shirt and pair of pajama pants in his direction.
Beth went into Pat's office to make to popcorn as Courtney and Yolanda settled into their pillow filled heaven, wrapping themselves in blankets and waiting for Beth to get the movie started.
Rick went in his fort and decided he might as well change into the clothes he was given.
He had just reached for the t-shirt when he heard the fabric pulled back.
"Sorry, sorry, sorry." Beth cried and turned away when she saw Rick was shirtless.
"It's, fine, what's up?" he asked masking his blush by pulling the shirt over his head.
"Um," Beth flushed. "I was just wondering if you wanted any popcorn. She said shaking the bag in her hand.
"No, I'm good, thanks though."
She simply nodded before uttering,
"Chuck's gonna start the movie soon."
"Kay."
Beth shuffled off to give the girls popcorn. Entering the tent she was greeted by Courtney and Yolanda saying, "Hey," in unison.
"I have popcorn." Beth sang.
"Ooh, yay." Courtney praised.
"Give," Yolanda said, making a grabbing motion with her hand and smiling happily.
Beth gladly complied, handing the bag over to the girls.
"I'm gonna get Chuck to start up the movie. Don't eat all the popcorn without me, I'll be right back."
The two girls nodded, grinning, and opened the popcorn.
Beth left the fort and got her goggles, placing them over her eyes.
"Ready Chuck?"
"Indeed."
"This is going to be great!"
Beth took off the goggles and pointed them at the wall across from her, gently placing the goggles on the floor as the opening credits began projecting on the wall.
She rushed back to the girls' fort and stepped inside to see Courtney trying to throw popcorn into Yolanda's mouth.
"Okay, it's on." Beth announced, loud enough for Rick to hear as well.
The girls moved closer to the opening of the fort and peeled back the opening to watch the movie.
They watched lazily, sometimes shifting to find a better way of sitting. Courtney and Yolanda carried on their own conversation as Beth painted Courtney's nails listening to the movie in the background.
As the girls waited for their nails to dry spoke to eachother lowly as to not disturb Rick next to them.
Beth lightly tapped her nails to see if they were dry and Courtney and Yolanda shared a teasing look.
"Do you think he's lonely over there?" Yolanda asked Courtney, just loud enough for Beth to hear.
"I'm sure he's fine." Courtney continued
"I don't know, maybe someone should check on him?"
The two turned to Beth with a knowing look.
"I'll do it," she offered immediately. "Yeah, it's not right for him to be all alone."
She rose from her position and stepped over pillows to leave the fort. She quietly walked over to his fort, hearing Courtney and Yolanda's quiet giggles behind her.
The front Rick's fort was a little open. Beth walked to the side and pulled the blanket back.
"Knock, knock." Beth spoke
"Hey," he greeted.
"I thought you may be lonely. Well, Court and Yolanda thought, but I wanted to see if you needed company. So I can stay. Only if you want me to of course." she rambled.
"Yeah, sure." Rick responded softly, scooting over and patting the spot next to him. She gladly entered and took her place next to him.
Her legs were crisscrossed and she twiddled her fingers, appreciating the glittery polish on her nails.
Rick turned to her, a smirk on his face.
"Thanks for making this with me," he gestured to the fort around them. "It was...surprisingly fun."
"Told you." Beth gloated, bumping her shoulder to his.
"Yeah, you did." Rick said under his breath as he gazed at her. He admired her eyes, the way the light reflected off of them. Rick inhaled sharply before taking a leap of faith.
He draped his arm across her shoulders to test the waters.
She quickly moved closer and laid her head on his chest. A wide smile graced his face, she didn't notice though, focusing all her energy to prevent the blood rushing to her face. She failed.
They stayed in that position until the movie ended.
Rick was half asleep by the time the credits finished rolling. He was snapped awake by Beth moving from her position and making a move to leave the fort.
"Where are you going?" He whispered.
"I'm gonna change then go to sleep in the girls' tent. And of course say goodnight to Chuck."
"Oh," he responded, trying not to let his disappointment peek through. "Okay. Goodnight."
"Night." she smiled and left the fort.
Rick frowned but perked up just a bit when her heard Beth's sweet voice say goodnight to the goggles. He thought it was adorable how much she cared about the AI in those goggles.
He layed back and tried to fall asleep but soon realized it was much more difficult when Beth wasn't in close proximity. He ran his fingers through his hair frustratedly and tried to build up enough courage to just ask Beth to stay with him that night.
But he quickly found he didn't have to. As if the universe heard him, he saw Beth cautiously lift up the opening of his fort.
She looked sheepish as she met his eyes.
"Courtney and Yolanda are hogging all the space inside. Would it be alright if I could, maybe, stay here. It's up to you." she questioned quickly.
Rick nodded his head as apathetically as he could, when on the inside he was absolutely thrilled.
Beth slowly stepped into their fort. Rick made note of the oversized black t-shirt she wore that fell over her light green pajama pants.
She layed down facing the opposite direction as he did, but bot could still feel the body heat radiating off the back of the other.
"You know the reason Court and Yolanda sent you over here was probably so they could have the tent all to themselves." Rick stated.
Beth thought about it for a minute before letting out a sigh of relief.
"Oh, thank goodness. I was worried they were getting tired of me. Phew."
"Why would they get tired of you?"
"Everyone does at some point. Even if it's just for a little bit."
"Hey," Rick said darkly. "I'm never gonna get tired of you. Ever. Not even for a little bit. You understand?" He asked with a seriousness yet softness she didn't see often.
She nodded her head, hoping he could understand the gesture even if he wasn't looking at her.
Beth moved back until she made contact with Rick. Their backs were pressed up against eachother and they both found comfort in the warmth of the other.
Beth lay frozen, worried about if Rick was okay with the contact, but her worries were soon relieved when she felt Rick's hand reach for hers.
They interlocked their fingers, still not looking at one another, before they both fell into a peaceful sleep.
...
Rick woke up to light streaming through the covers of the fort and the sound of giggling.
He looked to the source of the noise to see Beth and Yolanda holding the blankets open.
"What?" He asked groggily.
They only giggled more.
That's when he registered the weight that covered half his body. Beth was practically on top of him, her face snuggled in his chest.
Rick's eyes widened and his system was shocked awake. He heard Courtney smack her hand over her mouth to muffled her laugh at the sight of the boy.
"Pat's going to be here in half an hour. We need to take everything down." Yolanda supplied.
Rick nodded his head tiredly and the girls walked away, letting the blankets drop behind them.
Rick gazed down at Beth, angry with himself for liking their position so much. He groaned internally as he tried figuring out how to wake Beth up.
He gently tried to move her off of him, laying her just beside him.
"Beth, you have to wake up." He tried softly, lightly shaking her shoulder.
She groaned, but complied, blinking several times.
"Pat's gonna be here soon, we have to start taking everything down."
Beth frowned.
"But it's Saturday, can't we just stay here for a few more...hours?" She proposed.
Rick chuckled softly at her question but shook his head.
"It's already light out, my uncle probably knows I'm gone." the boy grimaced.
"I wish you could just live with one of us."
"Yeah me too," he whispered.
Beth propped herself up before crawling out of their fort.
Rick followed and saw she was heading up the stairs to untie to blankets. He saw the pout on her face as she undid the knots and watched the sheets fall to the floor.
"You know, maybe we can do this again sometime?" Rick called up, smiling when he saw Beth perk up.
The team worked together to undo everything and neatly organize their pillows and blankets. They all decided to change back into their clothes from the day before, Courtney and Rick returned their borrowed clothes.
Rick helped Beth stuff everything back into her suitcase and they finished just as Pat arrived.
"Hey guys, how was your night, good I hope?" he questioned.
"We had a really great time," Courtney confirmed. "Thanks for coming up with the idea, Beth."
"No problem, I always wanted to do something like this." the girl smiled.
"You guys ready to go?" Pat asked.
"Yeah, we're all set." Yolanda said.
Beth just nodded happily.
"Help me get everything in the back." the man directed.
Once everything was done, the girls began piling into the car.
"Rick, you coming?" Courtney asked.
"Oh, nah, I'm just going to walk home."
"You sure kid," Pat verified.
"Yeah, I'm sure."
"Aw, okay, talk to you later Rick," Beth came over and gave him a quick hug before retreating into the car.
Pat drove off and Rick waved goodbye to the girls.
The boy turned and made his way home. As he walked, he thought of his interactions with Beth. He couldn't explain the flutter in his stomach when he saw her excited, or how naturally comfortable he felt by her side.
One thing he did know though, was that Beth made him happy. They could do anything from sitting in silence at lunch, to fighting crime, to sleeping in a pillow fort.
One thing was certain, Beth Chapel was a wonder, and Rick was all there for it.
The End.
Okay, that was my second hournite fic, i hope you liked it. I'm super lazy so i didn't edit it, so if there are any errors please let me know. I'm not sure if anyone picked up on the reference I made when Rick said Kurt Kelly was and a-hole. For those who didn't know, Cameron Gellman played Kurt Kelly in a television adaptation of Heather. I just thought it was something funny to throw in there. If you have and comments or criticisms, let me know in the comments. I sound like a YouTuber, lol. I hope everyone has a great day and if anyone has any prompts they'd like to see, let me know. That's all for today💕💕
Sincerely, Tessa.

I don’t have a particularly deep devotion to Blizz or any of their games, but I will never stop being thankful to them for creating Sombra. Sombra sounds exactly like that first and almost charmingly blatant self-insert Exactly Like Me, But More Awesome character of someone who loves that glowy pinkish purple more than herself, routinely cultural-appropriates Draken cause she thinks their style is The Hottest Shit, and who has once heard that her best friend is a hacker and thought that was Very Cool, I Wish I Could Do That but has no idea how hacking actually works so she just extrapolated “magical spellslinger, but on the computer”

A long and controversial fandom analysis:
I have *~thoughts~* about Stargirl and shipping and stuff but it’s gonna look like I’m trying to start beef with a certain 1 or 2 people here (one of which I follow oof) so if you’re reading this (you know who you are), I just want to say that I’m not. Though it’d be best if you didn’t read this because my opinion is very different from yours. I’m sorry, block me if you want, it’s nothing personal, I won’t be offended, but I just wanted to post this.
Okay, if you aren’t one of the people I implied, take a deep breath and remind yourself that this is my personal opinion and I am not attacking anyone. And please read the tags.
I am open to (respectful!) debating, so here we go. Here’s the hot takes that could possibly start a ship war, though I pray that we are all mature enough to prevent it:
My opinions on who I ship and also Courtney’s orientation, the short answer:
I ship her with both Yolanda and Cameron. Sorta. And my personal headcanon is that she’s attracted to both boys and girls (idk about specific labels tho) but she doesn’t know this until later.
And here’s the long answer:
I know that Camney will be canon at some point (sorry that’s just the truth), though a cast member that I can’t recall exactly who but I know is a cast member, said that their relationship will be “complicated”. Now, I have no idea how to interpret this, as said cast member was pretty vague about it.
I know that Cameron finding out about his father’s death and (possibly?) turning evil will most likely be the reason, but I feel like there’s more.
Now, after some digging, I found out about his character in the comics. (Comic fans will probably know where this is going.) If they do bring this in, this gives another layer to the complicated-ness that the ship will be in season 2.
In my ideal season 2, he and Courtney will date for a few episodes, then he’ll realize that he isn’t attracted to her (or not, according to what the writers decide to do with him) and break up. After this, Courtney will go to Yolanda for comfort which leads to them catching feelings for each other and then they date and Wildstar will be endgame. The end. If it doesn’t then I’m also chill with that but that’s just my favorite speculation.
Of course, this isn’t likely (but then again, I’m sure the writers won’t erase his identity for fear of backlash). Here are several other scenarios, which I’m also chill with:
1. He still turns evil but Courtney doesn’t know this until later. When she finds out, there is angst and a breakup, which either leads to them getting back together by the end of the season or Courtney ending up with someone else, whether it’s a new character or an existing one.
2. If they don’t get back together, Courtney can still end up getting with Yolanda like in my ideal scenario. The same thing happens.
3. Or Cameron doesn’t turn evil and the complicated-ness is all from finding out who his dad is (was) and there is less angst but he and Courtney stay together.
Now, I might be saying this because I just dislike Camney a lot less than everyone else here, or I genuinely ship it,  which brings me to my next point:
I don’t know how I feel about the ship, or the other one. Like, at all.
Am I just shipping it because it’s gonna be canon at some point?
Do I actually like Camney more than Wildstar but I’m repressing that part of me for fear of being an outcast in the Tumblr fandom?
Do I not even like Wildstar and only ship them (and write a fic about  them) because everyone practically peer pressured me into it?
Do I secretly only ship Wildstar, and is my brain just tricking me into thinking I ship Camney because I ship the canon ships in other fandoms and is preparing me for when they become canon?
This gets even crazier when I factor in another one of Courtney’s potential (or just popular?) love interests, Cindy.
Unlike most people in the fandom, I’m not a huge fan of her, especially because of what she did to Yolanda. It seems like everyone put the blame on Henry for that. Yes, he did have a part in it, but let’s not forget that it was 90% Cindy.
I’ve seen claims that she’s coded to have feelings for Courtney, especially because of the tension (?) in their fight scenes. It was also confirmed by a cast member. People are also saying that the writers are trying to send the message that “straight good everything else bad”, but to be honest, I don’t see it.
There are straight villains. (assuming that all those ISA pairings floating around are just crackships)
Also, Wildstar still has a chance of happening.
Maybe I don’t like Starshiv as much as other people do because it reminds me of another ship. (Supergirl fans who follow me will know) Or maybe because I think Cindy is perfect as a villain and the only way the ship would work is if she had a redemption arc? Or because of the above reasons. Don’t get me wrong, I think she’s a good character, but just not a good person.
I feel like in another world, if that Supergirl ship that it reminds me of didn’t exist, maybe I might’ve ended up a Starshiv shipper. But that’s not the world we live in.
There are claims that the writers (one in particular) are homophobic. I don’t know enough about that one writer to say anything, but given that he’s an older straight man and Tumblr hates him, he probably is. But let’s not drop the H-word on everyone else.
Which brings me to how disturbingly familiar this situation is to me. For those of you who aren’t in the Supergirl fandom, let me explain.
Kara is the main character.  (Parallel to Courtney)
Lena (wow I didn’t censor her name for once) is a villain who is popularly shipped with her. (Parallel to Cindy but I genuinely hate Lena, and there is no confirmation that Lena is coded to have feelings for Kara)
William is supposedly Kara’s love interest. He has asked her out only once. (Parallel to Cameron but he’s 100% straight)
(I can’t find a character that’s the equivalent of Yolanda, so let’s just ignore her for this part.)
The resemblance is that I dislike Kara and Lena as a couple, but am partial to Kara and William, despite them not being my first choice as a ship. And the people who ship Kara with Lena tend to dislike William very, very much, claiming that he’s too boring.
Of course, with Supergirl being a much older show than Stargirl, this problem is 23894793847 times worse. We have people harassing the actors and sending  them death threats, and real person shipping is big, and they claim William to be abusive.
I’m not saying that Starshiv shippers are as bad as that (obviously) but I’m scared they will be someday. Luckily, Wildstar is still more popular.
Go ahead, hate Cameron if you want. He’s not real, so no feelings will be hurt. I am not implying that you will do this, so don’t take this the wrong way, but remember that his actor is real, has feelings, and is not the same as his character, so keep fiction and reality separate.
And please do the same with the other characters.
Anyways, to end this, let’s go back to where I started.
I feel like too many people think that Courtney can only like one gender. There’s the “fanon says it’s girls and canon says it’s boys” but like I said, she can like both so that’s what I think.
The writers will most likely make her straight, and this is gonna make people really mad at them, causing a backlash that could potentially become like the Supergirl fandom’s. I hope not.
So, that’s my thoughts on Stargirl. Thank you for reading. I am fully prepared for a flood of anon hate coming after me. The second I get a hate ask, I’m closing my ask box for the next few days.
I’m gonna lose friends for this, aren’t I?

“Are you ready Wildfang?”
The tom paused, and took a deep breath, turning to face the toms that he brought with him.
“Not like I have much of a choice Rabbitsong,” he sighed, not at all ready. Smallrunner pressed his nose into his shoulder, giving his mate comfort before the ceremony.
“You’ll do just fine Tiger, I know you will.”
With that, Wildfang approached the Star Spire, and pressed his nose to the cold surface.
When he opened his eyes again, he was in a dark, yet also somewhat glowing area. He got up and started to wander, having no clue what he was supposed to do past the spire. He let out a very manly scream that was totally not from fear when he was tackled to the ground by something not bigger than he. He swiped at his attacker, but stopped when he heard that voice he missed so much.
“I know it’s been years Wildfang, but I would have hoped you would still recognize my scent,” purred Icegaze. The warrior released him, and let out a hearty laugh that one wouldn’t expect from such a scrawny tom.
“In my defense you don’t exactly have a scent, it reeks of monster fumes near the spire…” Wildfang paused, lurching towards the tom, “I missed you dad,” he mewed.
“I’m always keeping my eye on you boy, but you know why I’m here. I believe your clanmates would rather have you before sunrise,”
Wildfang straightened up, and let go of the breath he wasn’t holding. He held his head down to level with Icegaze, and gained the first life of many to come.
“With this life, I grant you compassion, use this wisely, I shouldn’t have to explain this to the badger I call a son,” chuckled the older tabby, who promptly received a playful swat from the younger.
Wildfang shivered, he wishes his coat was thicker. It got warmer with his mother taking a seat under his chin. Not wanting to keep him waiting, she held her nose towards her son, waiting for him to meet her halfway. Wildfang held back a snort, and complied.
“With this life I grant you friendship, use it to make great a closeknit clan and keep the bonds holding it together stronger than ever before,” Specklefall purred, and kissed her son’s nose. Wildfang returned the favor by smooching her head, hoping he looked groomed so she wouldn’t fuss about it.
He missed the warmth, but knew Acornkit was in his tail, trying to find a warm spot. The little kit bit him and he had to refrain from jumping, she was no bigger than a mouse compared to her much larger brother. “I thought I scented mischief, what do ya got sis?” The tortiseshell stuck her tounge out, but pressed her nose to the elder.
“With this wife, I gwant you pwotection. Use it to fight to defend youw cwanmates as if they wewe youw own chiwdwen, Siwvewpewt knyows they'ww nyeed it.” Wildfang felt a much more intense warmth, and now finally understood what the other leaders meant when they mentioned burning. He felt like shredding ears.
With the kit fading out to who knows where, Paledream enters, and looked almost too happy to be near Wildfang again. “I’m so happy to finally see you,” purred the grey tabby. Then it hit him, he could finally see what he looks like now, he forgot he could only see him when he was a kitten planning to be his apprentice. Paledream suddenly pulled away and touched his nose.
“With this life, I give you healing, use it to bring a new kind of knowledge to your clan, poor Rabbitsong would thank you for it.”
Wildfang was about to comment, but was hushed by a sudden Littlemist pressing his nose to his. Wildfang pushed him away quickly, needing to recover from being startled. Paledream, who hasn’t left yet, chatised the tom for doing that. Wildfang recovered, and met him again, on his own terms.
“With this life, I grant you leadership, use it to, well, lead. I have so much faith in you, I believe in your strength Fangface.”
Littlemist and his mate faded away, leaving Cloudstar in their place. He was about to say something but Wildfang cut him off with a tackle hug, which was happily returned. Cloudstar backed away, stretching, before continuing with the ceremony.
“With this life I grant you the gift of mentoring, use this to both teach others and learn from those you inspire.” The living cottonball named Cloudstar rested his chin on his old apprentice’s head, remembering what he was going to say. I should have named another warrior to mentor you, Rainstar was a mis-“
"You were dead, it’s not like you could’ve done anything about it, and Stormstar pretty much took me from him so it’s not all bad…” Wildfang trailed off, wishing that Rainstar was never brought up, but recollected himself to prepare for the next cat.
Cloudstar left with an apology, but the IslandClan cat arrived with another. “Wildfang I’m so sorry to have dragged you into that mess it was my fault you-” Wildfang stopped him from speaking with his paw, his pale blue eyes soft with worry. “Flamepoppy, you have been forgiven, I never blamed you for what happened and besides, why would I leave my best friend to rot in a cave?” Flamepoppy started to cry, and pulled the much bigger warrior into a hug. Wildfang pet his head while this occured. The black and ginger tom was soon joined by his mate, a Queen if memory serves. Wildfang nodded to the she-cat who left too soon. “You look even stronger than I remember,” purred Daisyskip, her nearly white eyes shining with starlight. “Come closer child, we don’t have the entire night to waste time with idle chatter,” Flamepoppy let an amused meow escape his muzzle, but quickly corrected himself when he seen the pair watching him. The couple approached, and pressed their noses to his cheeks.
“With this life we grant you Justice and Loyalty, try to both find it and grant it to others, and to show your clan that you aren’t what they may fear you to be,”
The mates left, leaving Wildfang alone once more. He counted the cats who came to see him, but something was wrong… there were only eight cats that gave him a life, and two gave him one life… that added to only seven lives from the Stars.
“You always were the smart one,”
His eyes shot up to meet the ones he hasn’t seen since he was an apprentice. He let his walls down, and started sobbing at the sight of his old denmate. He hasn’t told anyone but Stormstar the truth of what happened, he thought Smallpaw was mad at his mistake. His legs gave out, and he fell forward, spared from the ground by an oddly warm body catching him. Smallpaw knew that Wildfang would’ve been upset after the cave-in, but it looks like he never actually accepted that he was actually gone.
Wildfang shuddered, wrapping his forelegs around the shorter tom. Time was of no concern to him. He wanted to stay and keep Smallpaw in the embrace, but the other pulled away, tears threatening to fall from his eyes. Those damned eyes, they looked so lifeless yet showed so much life behind them.
“You know we can’t stay,” Wildfang nodded.
“You know why I’m here,” He nodded again, ears tilting back slightly.
“Did you know that I’m not mad at you?” He didn’t.
“Did you know that I was never mad at you?” No.
“Did you know that he loves you?” He paused, not responding.
“You know,” He does.
“You love him too,” He has to admit that he’s right.
Smallpaw pulled Wildfang in for a quick hug, and they met in the middle.
“With this life I grant you Strength. Not for combat, but for being the leader of a Clan who may not want you to be theirs. For being a shoulder to cry on, and to listen to the voice others may not hear. To have the ability to cry when you need to, and to admit when you are weak. May the Stars grant you safe passage home, my sweet,”
One voice faded to many, as if every star was cheering to him.
“Wildstar!”

Za Warudo needs some work!
So as of recently my friend managed to convince me to actually watch through the rest of the Sword Art Online series to try and convince to me to change my opinion on the show (it’s alright but not any better then that) so that I’m caught up when he takes me to the new movie coming out. Originally I had thought that some of the plot elements were a little stale but after giving it a second look through I realize what I didn’t like about it, the way they build their worlds or their “games”.
One of the things that’s been constantly thrown around after SAO was released is that all these newer anime about blank being trapped in some gaming world is just a clone of SAO. They may be right but where SAO managed to make appealing characters for every different person, they didn’t as hard on the world. When SAO was released gaming was becoming ever more popular and a show about an MMORPG seemed like an easy thing to do, however the creators of SAO didn’t create an MMORPG they simply created a single player game with restrictions of how your character should play. The key thing in any MMORPG such as WoW, Wildstar, or The Secret World is that the player can put themselves in the world with little to no restrictions. You can cast spells, command nature, shoot a bow and arrow. This is where the appeal of an MMORPG lies, in it’s world and how the player can shape that world to fit their needs. No if we go back to season 1 of SAO, we get no proper variation. Yeah you are you but what if you wanted to use a crossbow or fling some fireballs, you’re stuck with some crappy sword. This is probably why I consider season 1 to be really bad, the story was pretty good but the focus they put into building a world was nearly non-existent. Season 2 did kind of fix this with the introduction of flight and magic, and season 3 did a fairly decent job at building a proper game. Plus there were hundreds of floors and all we got was a lot of skipping between floors and backtracking to previously explored floors when it was implied that each floor is different.
Now let’s look at the opposite side of this coin, Log Horizon. In my personal opinion it tells a much better story of gamers trapped in game because rather then telling a story about the main character and him traversing through this world, it’s a story about how a bunch of players interact with the world they are now stuck in. We get to see how these players actively shape and interact with the world so they can understand their situation, get out if they can, or live a life in this world if they can’t get out. Now before saying that gamers wouldn’t do this, let’s look back at 2005 a moment that would become prominent in gaming history. The corrupted blood plague incident, if you don’t know about this long story short a bug in WoW caused a debuff that was only supposed to happen in a raid carry over to the overworld and infected everything. Rather then gamers just throwing up their hands and waiting for the devs to fix this, players actively worked to heal and quarantine people until the bug was fixed. The players treated the whole thing like it was an actual plague and took the steps to ensure that it didn’t get even more out of hand. This is another reason why SAO does a poor job at showing people trapped in a game, we see many players commit suicide at the very beginning and only small handfuls of players talk the situation out. This is why building a world is just as important as making appealing and relatable characters. Both can downplay your story to the point where people like me are just disappointed, and by world I don’t just mean the land and the trees I mean the characters as well.

Comics: Wildstar #1
You know, I was going into Wildstar hoping it would be better than the usual comics that Image was putting out in the 90's, but apparently in that period there was no hope for them at all. When I saw Al Gordon was credited as writer I was really hoping that more effort would go into the writing of Wildstar, but apparently even someone as well-known and well-respected as Al Gordon is free to put out a bad comic now and then.
Wildstar is Symbiote-suit Spider-man. I'm not kidding, his suit is literally a Symbiote and acts just like the symbiotes from the Marvel Universe. I mean, this is near copyright infringement levels of bullshit. But let's ignore that and talk about the actual problems plaguing the comic that don't involve ripping off better comics.
First off, the cover. The cover is boring. It's a too close shot of Wildstar's face with blood dripping off of it. That's it. That hardly even counts as a cover. It hardly counts as art. This isn't something you should be doing if you are drawing a cover for a comic book. This isn't something you should be doing if you are drawing a cover for anything.
The art in the comic itself is fine, the issue I have with it is not in the quality of the art, but in the design of two of the characters. I find most of the character designs to be stupid, but the design for two of the villains is so stupid that it physically hurts to look at them. The first one is Freezone, which is a stupid name to begin with. Most of her costume is nothing new, but her chest piece sure as hell is, and boy is it stupid looking. It's two straps covering her breasts that also have pouches in the front. I don't get what about that seemed like a good idea, I honestly don't. It looks stupid, serves no purpose, and is clearly just there because boobs. The other super villain with a stupid design, Jumpstart, has a piece of leather covering her vagina. Thing is, she is also wearing pants. Even if she wasn't it would still be stupid looking, but at least it would make sense. They could have easily just colored in pants that didn't have a giant plunging "V" in the front. That's right, instead of a "V-neck" shirt, she has "V-groin" pants. not to mention that there is a chain wrapped around her waist that she never once uses as a weapon, meaning there is no point to it even being there.
The writing to be honest, isn't near as bad as the art, though there are 3 or 4 typos throughout the book, the narrative does make sense and does so from beginning to end. One major problem that I do have is that a kid in the story, named Mickey, seems to get access to what appears to be a military operation investigating mysterious earthquakes. It's not like he was hired or anything, he just gets to go along for the ride because his dad is on it and because he is going to Cal-Tech. I don't care how smart you are, the U.S. military is not going to let you in on one of their operations because of who your father is or because of how smart you are. Also, Wildstar manages to almost get himself killed by stupidly blasting a parasite with his powers and draining them instead of doing the smart thing and just freaking squishing it under his heel.
Then there is the ending, which is the most nonsensical thing I have read even amongst the worst comics I have reviewed so far. He uses a time-travel device to go back in time...I think. It's a bit confusing because although he goes back in time, the ruins of the building are still there, implying that he didn't go that far back. But the villains he killed are still dead...but then appear at the end again. I know time-travel has multiple theories on how going back to the past would work, but if he was the only one to go back in time, the bodies shouldn't have followed. IF they followed however, that should mean that the villains are still dead. It just creates this weird paradox that serves no real purpose outside of being confusing. Also, he then convinces this kid, who is probably already illegally on this military operation, to steal a truck from the military and drive him to rest somewhere. Which leaves Micky's father and the rest of the crew, to die at the hands of the idiotic-looking group of villains. Our hero, folks. He wastes his powers and almost gets himself killed and then due to that must leave innocent people to die instead of staying and fighting.
This comic sucks. The coloring is fine but the designs for everyone are garbage. the cover is terrible and the writing is okay at best. Honestly, I was hoping for more from someone like Al Gordon and Jerry Ordway, who both are talented in their own rights.
