ACT ONE - PART ONE

in reading homestuck again im going to try my best to analyse it to my fullest potential ; while i definitely like to enjoy homestuck Casually i think that doesnt necessarily mean i need to abandon fullblown analysis . i can acknowledge Hard Canon and The Implications in the same way i can acknowledge silly stuff + how im usually going to write characters . something something you have to know the rules to break them . thisll be half rambling half ( poor ) attempts at analysis and a bit of me going Hehe joke funny also i will use the characterses canon names and pronouns for simplicity + i feel its most suited . the exception is tavros because i have tried to not she/her tavros before and it was difficult and Painful i would never do that to her ... anyway .

i wont point out every case of 413 occurring but i will point out cases i find particularly interesting or fun :o) the suit of cards thing isnt something i picked up on at first but thats interesting to know ! on page two john is incorrectly named ' zoosmell pooplord ' . zoosmell being a reference to an older comic ( series of comics ? ) of hussies . i read it to see if theres anything of value i can find in there ; even in the silliest and least plot driven media you can find some sort of significance to an authors later work . maybe an idea , a character archetype , or just the plot structure . zoosmells holds no value at all and is stupid though so

im not sure if i talk about it much but i do really like how each main characterses room is in homestuck . not only are they typically really good at getting across a characters basic interests but early on with the beta kids they really sold the whole ' webcomic pretending to be a game ( that is actually a game pretending to be a webcomic ) ' thing . the simplicity of it all , the items of interest scattered around in sometimes nonsensical places , even shit like how the walls are drawn just gives the impression of a guy who you can walk around and play as . and you can ! eventually .

(page 4) time for analysing interests . while characterses interests definitely dont mean NOTHING in the greater scheme of things theyre probably not as important as most other shit . i find them fun to look into , though :o3

really terrible movies - i need to actually watch these , and i plan to ! im not much of a movie guy unfortunately . i dont think theyll be the end all be all of john analysis but i doubt theyll hold NO value . apparently theyre quite shit but i willing watch the big bang theory so i think ill be fine programming computers - john is the ' player character ' in a story that is currently quite programming-joke-heavy . the fact that hes kind of dogshit at it adds to this . guy doesnt know what hes doing yet and neither do you ! simple enough . paranormal lore - johns interest in ghosts is relatively significant but id consider it more ' iconic ' . the guy likes ghostbusters , his tshirt is a knockoff slimer , etc. i think all of the kids have one of these . it doesnt matter much in the greater scheme of things but i think its cool to see what interest a character is sort of built off of even if it gets overshadowed by other shit quickly ameteur magician - im a little lost on this one honestly . it can kind of go hand in hand with pranks i guess ? maybe theres something worth looking into with regards to characters and their relationship with magic . john seems to specifically focus on magic tricks which is opposed to roses interest in Real Fucking Magic . probably not though thats stupid

on page six is a rare appearence of the cursor . its a remnant from the homestuck beta where every panel was going to be a flash panel . it was ditched for good reason

its also one of the most blatant parts of the video game feel of early homestuck . thats a reader input interacting with a fictional world ! thats all there really is to say on it though i just thought it was neat

i love sylladexes . johns is obviously based off a stack data structure . john rose and dave all have data structure inspsired moduses which i appreciate but i kind of like the silly ones that come into play later on too !!! like all of jades . unfortunate that they get dropped almost entirely eventually :o(

i should give characters that dont get one them . theyre pretty awesome i think

snrk . anyway , since it reminded me : regarding analysis that strongly take timelines into consideration when i look at a lot of homestuck character analysis i see a lot of people try and make a point of ' oh the homestuck characters dont actually HAVE these specific character traits because in ANOTHER TIMELINE they did so and so ' and while i get that , timelines are interesting as a concept and its fun to think about , it doesnt exactly have a place in character analysis . homestuck is ultimately a story and the characters are less like people and moreso tools to tell that story . this is simple shit i am well aware i am not acting like what i am saying is revolutionary but it does lead to people losing the plot a little ( literally lol ) but like .. character a doing something instead of character b or character c sparing character d or whatever blah blah blah . did these all happen ? yeah sure probably . hell you can explore that in an au and ill probably go ' woah , cool ! ' because again its fun to think about . but it doesnt matter .. homestuck tells a story and while it focuses on multiple timelines . just because john took a shit on his desk in one timeline doesnt mean i need to be factoring in ' probably took a shit on his desk at least once ' to how i write him as a character . he would not fucking do that because he does not do that in homestuck . go and write your shit-on-desk-taker!john au but it has no place in canon analysis and you dont really need to think about it all that much

typheus is a wind god etc etc basic observation . i would really like to read more on the denizens and what gods theyre inspired by but the sources i find are really long and hard to parse .. ill have to look at other peopleses analysis if i want to understand anything i will be honest

on page 25 is the first pesterlog to appear in homestuck , between john and some loser nobody cares about . in a post i unfortunately dont have the link to , said loser is compared to a sort of tutorial character for early homestuck , similarly to johns status as the player character . obviously as homestuck goes on more characters become ' playable ' , as in you see the story through their perspective . but its a pretty neat observation for the early comic !

THANK YOU SO MUCH also holy shit the idea of anyone making ocs in the world of my silly game is SO wild.... i would be extremely happy about this i think :) the world and species are very much still being worked on though so much is subject to change but here's all i have so far for the species:

the main species currently on hyperspace reverie are Wizards and Starborne, though Fiend is a Drake. Jester is a Wizard and Captain is a Starborne, so the party will be all different species. (the image shows Fiend, Jester and Captain left to right)

Wizards are essentially just humans who have been mutated by magical orbs that fell on earth thousands of years ago, giving them very wacky alien appearances and magical powers. the earth is now known as Wizard Planet.

the starborne then show up to clean up the mess before the wizards become a threat to the galaxy. the starborne empire are a powerful space-faring humanoid race that modified their bodies with advanced technology to allow them to harness magical powers from the stars, and theyre definitely the good guys.

drakes wont have a big presence on the game but theyre also gonna be a big deal on the galaxy as a whole, i described them a little on the post for Fiend, not sure what theyll be up to at this point. im sure ill introduce more species in the future, especially if i decide to add a fourth party member at some point if i make a bigger game in this series after this one, but thats what i have for now. thanks for letting me be autistic :)

re; my prev reblogged post. I think it makes some really great points and has solid advice about improving your diet because its much easier and healthier (physically AND mentally!!) in the long run to add things like fresh produce and proteins to your diet to balance the foods and drinks that are low in necessary nutrients

HOWEVER

id be rly interested to know how folks with health anxiety around things like latent allergies/health problems can handle adding new foods to their diet? for example, someone who previously ate nuts and nut products but now has a fear that theyve developed a severe nut allergy since they last ate any, or someone who is healthy on paper and in tests but is afraid of eating sugary foods in case they become diabetic. im not even sure if this type of disordered eating has a name (i thought it might come under orthorexia but idk) but i think especially since covid has made many many many folks more aware of their health and more anxious about taking care of themselves, that anxiety can easily turn into one that restricts your eating habits in ways that prevent you from adding new foods even when you know theyll be good for you. is any of this making sense lmao

yknow what im not even going to pretend to resist the allure of a New Au this time. already changed the blog title we're on 28.6 baybeee

anyway, have you seen ride the cyclone cause i fucking have. found it a couple days ago on holiday and ough that shit SLAPS. and then inevitably i put beetlejuice in it because theyre both musicals about dead people and i like them so im duct taping them together.

so, concept: beetlejuice and rtc happened in the same area now. dunno if its america or canada or what, but theyre near. post-cannon for beetlejuice, and lydia and beetlejuice are hanging out again, though im unsure of the exact circumstances of that. so theyre hanging out, watching shit on tv, and see a news report on the cyclone accident. news reader says there was one jane doe, and beetlejuice says the name rings a bell. lydia explains that it means an unidentified body and he says oh yeah, i remember the name because i heard something about how being declared a jane/john doe before being fully processed can fuck with netherworld systems and strike you off the records. he says it rather casually, but lydia is horrified at the implications of that and practically throws him into the netherworld to go check. and sure enough, the kid's record is fucked. lydia insists they have to do something to help. cue lydia and beetlejuice breaking into a condemned fairground on a ghost hunt.

now i dont want to write the chior out of this entirely, but it does mostly focus on jane because i love her. so at this point, the other five have either gone to the netherworld or are still firmly in their 'jane is terrifying' phase and are avoiding the situation. lydia and beej show up, and after a bit of exploration manage to find a rather lost-looking headless ghost. lydia starts trying to ask questions but given the headless situation she cant really answer, and she barely responds with body language either. beetlejuice tells them to hang on a minute, dissapears, and comes back with a mannequin head that he promptly shoves onto jane's neck. lydia protests, since that seems a bit rude, but to her suprise - and jane's apparently - it works. but even though she can talk now she doesnt remember anything. lydia asks beej if anyone in the netherworld could help her, he says theyd likely just stick her in the waiting room and forget about her. so lydia promptly declares theyll take her home. with her corrupted record jane isnt stuck in the place she died like the maitlands are, and seems happy about the idea, so they bring her home.

that premisce is pretty much all i have, apart from the vague idea that i want to bring back the rest of the choir at some point. but lydia adds more of a face onto the mannequin head with makeup and finds her a wig, and since jane can leave the house and lydia is nice to her she tends to just follow her around, and as i have said many times before, shennanigans ensue

hi im a stanley (tsp) fictionkin. heres my memories from my tl since i wanted one place to compile them all. theyll also be in different categories!

this'll update every time i get new mems :]

general mems

i wasnt living in a game, i think. im still unsure about that. there was no other player entity as far as i can remember, though. and it was real life to me, it could have been a game to the narrator or anyone else though

i can remember a basic outline of where some of the endings took place- the true ending happened near the start but wasnt the first one, the zending happened around the end, and the skip button was the last button and the epilogue happened just after it i think. i know game-wise that timeline is weird but i remember the skip button happening last and i was wandering around that desert for a long time

the zending lasted a long time. i was in the lights room for a long time and it was really nice but i just couldnt stay there forever.

there were hundreds of resets and probably different endings that did not occur in the game

the true ending still resulted in a reset no matter how many times i went that route.

some of the endings were very, VERY long. like the zending, the bucket apartment ending, and the skip button ending to mention a few.

in general sometimes these resets could be months, even upwards to a year apart, or only a few minutes. it was frustrating sometimes

i remember the escape pod ending- i remember shooting into the sky and into space and looking at the stars, but after only a while id reset. maybe narrator WAS there and it played out right? i dunno man its kinda hard to remember there was so many resets in my canon

i wore silly ties every day to work, they all had different patterns. this also happened during the resets, i think i had a different one each reset

i think i had anxiety too

i almost never talked- part of it was i was just too stubborn to talk, the other part was that i was nonverbal a good chunk of the time. i also just found it hard to speak

i remembered every reset, but im unsure if narrator did

i was super self destructive at one point- before i had fully given into the fact that these resets were just gonna happen for the rest of my life.

i had a life before the events of the game- i cant remember my childhood or life outside work, but i remember loving my job and i remember my chats with the other employees and stuff like that!

narrator mems

i had an on and off relationship with narrator- one moment i hated him and the next he was my entire world. our relationship fluctuated like that a lot but no matter what we needed eachother

i think our relationship was at least vaugely homosexual ahahah. i dont think we ever officially dated but we had a really really close bond. i dunno how to explain it. we acted like we were an old married couple but we never . like . had an official relationship

i cannot stress how on and off our relationship was.

he could have had a physical form, he mentioned that he was able to manifest one once, but he never quite liked the idea and he preferred just being a voice. unsure if he ever showed a form or not

he could however like . without a form he could still touch? i remember him brushing the hair out of my face or putting his hand on my shoulder, but i never saw him

unsure if he created the world or caused the resets but he sure did have a hand in both those things even if he didnt outright do all of those things

i dont think he created the world but he could control it and add little things to it.

while i knew timekeeper & curator existed, i dont think the narrator did. he may have known about the curator and just never mentioned her to me, but he never knew about timekeeper and i just never told him my experiences with either of them, i kinda kept it a secret

in relation to what i was saying with the narrator showing his physical form, he said something along the lines of 'im too grand to be contained in one physical form!' or 'its too restricting, id rather just be a voice!' (both quotes ive gotten from other narrators ive spoken to)

i really miss him. i know i hated him a lot near the start and even middle of the timeline, but i really really grew fond of him even though we had our arguments. i really miss him. a lot.

timekeeper/settings/432 mems

we were both 'friends' (acquaintances?) before the events of the game

i think during the time before the events of the game he had ginger hair and glasses but i am unsure about this memory

they would talk to me through my computer inbetween resets, however i didnt know it was 432, my old friend, until the events of the epilouge

never saw him face-to-face during the events of the game, the last time i saw them face-to-face was when we were both at work and things were still normal

it was really comforting to talk to them inbetween resets.

bucket mems

the bucket was a comfort item to me <3 i loved it

for the first while it was just a comfort item, just that, but eventually as the resets kept happening and my mental state deteriorated i began to hear it talk to me and stuff like that.

i put a lot of stickers on it . i think more than in canon

i also held things in it sometimes

she made the museums. they were very very pretty.

picking an outfit is like: "okay so its freezing tomorrow, i have to wear my trenchcoat. the trenchcoat is my baseline. around this, i can either wear something decently warm under it or i can show some skin. i want to show skin because im spending the day with my beloved and i have an intense need to be sexy. however. i am still not sure if we're gonna be inside or not. if we arent at his house theres not really any point to dressing sexy because ill just be freezing my ass off and i dont like romance in public. also i have to walk home. for the walk home i can button my coat but while im around my beloved i want my outfit to be visible. i absolutely cannot wear overalls because theyll just get so in the way. ill wear jeans because my corderoy pants look frumpy and the colorful ones are too clowny to pair with the tan trenchcoat. so i just have to decide whether im going to wear a sweater or one of my new cute tanktops. but im bringing him my nightgown to adjust and he's probably going to want the peach top as a reference, and the white one squeezes my boobs a lot which ordinarily wouldnt be an issue but I dont want them to shift out of place and have to be adjusted in front of him because then he might notice my right boob is smaller and thats a secret. but also. its sexier than a plain old sweater. but if I add the collar piece to the sweater then the whole outfit is very academic..."

very curious to see how you'd approach fixing the bard's college questline!

heres just off the top of my head. im thinking it has a somewhat comedic (but not outright 100% silly) tone and be really focused on the role of story and song as a chronicle of history.

the dragonborn joins the college, only to find theyre mostly there to be hired muscle and to help train a more promising bard apprentice by being a muse for their songs- you do the college’s busywork, and they try to write inspiring music about it.

the apprentice bard is deeply enamored with skyrim’s bardic history and the roles of bards in battle and politics. and they dont like you very much and make scathing passive aggressive songs about you, just bc that would be funny. depending on your choices they might eventually grow more friendly with you but should never give you the hero treatment.

the fetch quests for instruments can still be there, but the intent is to play up the humor of the situation (youre hired muscle and this bard who thinks you suck is writing scathing songs about your performance) and diversify the situations a bit

finn’s lute: the lute was stolen by some bandits, one of whom is making bank going from town to town with it as a bard. theyre a charming thief and have a way with words, and no ones gonna side with you over him. he’s very weak and not much of a fight, but hangs out in busy taverns and it will be VERY hard to kil or steal from him and get away with it. you have options as to how to deal with this, including murder, theft, doing him a “favor” (stealing something else for him of greater value as a trade or maybe resolving a conflict with the other bandits), etc. none of the options are particularly glorious and your partner writes a song about the mighty hero begrudgingly making shady deals with a twinkish thief in a tavern.

panteas flute: a necromancer stole a flute, and now theres whispers of strange music and sounds of revelry in the marshes at night... this is bc the necromancer HAS actually enchanted it to ‘make the dead dance’. you find them in a grove, at the remains of what looks to be some wild bacchic revelry where all the people are dead except for the necromancer. they play the flute, which reanimates the corpses in waves, with some of them attacking you and some just dancing. your partner watches from a safe vantage point and commentates on your performance.

rjorn’s drum: i dont really remember doing this one ingame. basic summary is ‘find lost drum of a 2nd era battle drummer (who turns out to have been lured to his death in this cairn by a powerful draugr lord) which i think could be interesting.. i guess it would be cool if it could bring the historical element into it more , like we learn about what a battle drummer was. might be corny but it also might be fun if during the boss battle, the ghost of rjorn manifests and plays a warsong that gives you advantage in the battle. your partner joins in

the “tending the flames” quest comes AFTERWORDS and is the grand culmination of events. id want it to be very much steeped in history and kind of exploring the role of the bard in nordic culture. we NEED to be able to read more of the poetic edda since its like, the bardic history of skyrim.

i think it would be interesting if the ghost of the bard svaknir (who accompanies you) uses the Voice in song form, which im not sure if thats technically just a headcanon or not but it would be really interesting. he definitely should be singing AND fighting (instead of just fighting and yelling) but you cant actually talk to him or get him to tell you the verses.

once you recover the verse, viarmo is like “god damnit this is barely intact. UGH. come see me later” as-is ingame and the quest is on hold. and this bit might be stupid but here me out:

at this point, you can wait a few days and get a summons to return to the college and complete the quest as normal. but youll hear rumors like “theyre saying that something happened at dragonsreach.. that big dragon skull is gone!!” it adds a miscellaneous quest.

you go investigate, and theres a big fucking hole in the walls where numinex’s skull used to be. a guard was like “damndest thing. it just went FLYING!”, its implied that this was numinex being resurrected by alduin.

your partner, a devoted bard very interested in the college’s history, is like “HOLY SHIT LETS GO FIND NUMINEX TO HEAR THE STORY STRAIGHT FROM HIM!!!” theyre really enthusiastic about this as a way to both learn this mysterious segment of history and as a more dignified way to save the verses than “making shit up”. you can choose to accept this or to go “no way lol” and just complete the quest as normal by making up new verses. (choosing to visit numinex will gain your partners approval, choosing not to will make them think youre lame)

if you accept, your partner is like “hmmm well all the stories say numinex roosted on mount anthor. lets check there”. you go there, he’s there, but not quite himself. he’ll be willing to talk with you, though very rude. he doesnt care that much about the silly little human festival, but he’s really quite lonely, lamenting about his imprisonment and eager to tarnish the reputation of the foul nord that captured him. one way or the other, you can get his side of the story in order to truly restore the poetic edda. you can go through this without him becoming hostile, and afterwords he can be found here or at the throat of the world, chatting with paarthurnax

either way, the ending is similar- you can tell the story as numinex told it, or you can make shit up like you do ingame. the festival is a success, and the bards college starts treating you like an actual bard. you can now actually play instruments, and earn money in little sidequests to perform at inns and at events and stuff, help write songs, etc.

maybe as a final little thing.. your partner asks you to accompany them to bard’s leap. if you do that, and you jump alongside them, theyll finally respect you . (just a bit) and they can be a permanent companion

i was going thru ur blog and u have good posts about ableist aus and i was wondering - what if in the aus the requirements for warriors were different? Like instead of having to fight jay only hunts? Would the muddling of roles still be ableist? In a Tree-like situation?If its not presented in a "work super hard to get what you want" and more in a "yeah they can decide what he wants to do". This is mostly for jay (and cinder) specifically because they had desires to be warriors yet were forced to be medicine cats because of ableism (ig this can apply to briar but i just truly cant remember oots that well and i havent read her death). I am asking because i am still trying to unlearn the ableist mindset that i grew up with. Feel free to ignore this ask and thnx!

hey yeah thank you for asking! took the opportunity to write up more general thoughts on rewrites as a whole and i went over why exactly theyre ableist hopefully that provides a better perspective

i think the major thing to keep in mind is that the structure of the clans is very abled centric and overly ignorant of inner community work (for example dens are only solidified or altered when either the area takes damage/the clans grows wrt population) theres a fixation on marking territory and starting fights and whatever with other clans which is whats expected of most warriors to partake in. to fix those implications in any fanwork youve really gotta knead into them and understand the nature of their ableism....its not just a problem with cats being barred from being warriors its the whole occupation and the standard its held to, so to speak (+ that fits into general clan society being flawed but eh thats another thing and also its easy to branch out into thought about)

going to stress other disabled people might have other solutions to how disabled cats are received this is just how i like to think of things

first i think its kind of interesting to examine discrepancies between disabled cats in canon as somewhat of an indicator of clan attitudes and leaders and whatnot. like i think you could get something interesting by regarding lets say deadfoot in windclan and cinderpelt in thunderclan who both have bad legs yet had different experiences with them in clan life. if you wanna go a step further comparing generations like lilywhisker and deadfoot or cinderpelt and jayfeather (+ the consideration of how congenital disabilities are regarded) can also make things interesting and just give you an idea of what to do. having the clan systems stray from a clear-cut common attitude both gives you more freedom for different approaches + adds to worldbuilding anyway. imo boiling down clan society to perfect utopia just gets boring but you can have imperfections in the system that depict the disabled experience just fine. just be careful with them and the way they come across yeah?

(real quick as an in between. god just dont refer to cats/their injuries as crippled. it still happens somehow)

im a little ambivalent on the idea of creating a ‘special role’ for disabled cats to be thrown into. cause then thats a repeat of canon medicine den really. its like ‘oh youre disabled youre instantly discarded into the x role pit’ i think just adding substantial in-universe changes to the warrior rank itself (vagueness is fun actually) or expanding on ‘warrior types’ rectifies the othering angle. ‘othering’ as a whole is just as bad as the ‘exception’ archetype people run for most warrior aus i want to state that clearly. effectively if youre gonna introduce roles that dont depend on fighting or hunting or both make sure theres abled cats who have them too. like say you want a camp-based role where a cats job is to fix dens or one where they help in the nursery, its far easier for a cat who cant run to manage those but also have some cats who are physically capable of doing other ‘tasks’ do the same thing for personal reasons

the tree comparison is interesting honestly cause i guess you could just give a cat a particular thing to do as a nonfixed position. and roles accordingly being made for a cat to fill until they cant and the positions done away with afterward. but youve gotta do it carefully so you dont fall into othering as ive said. id avoid something like that personally i just dont like the quality of ‘well theyre not a warrior (the most noble/useful concept in cat society) theyre actually some other thing’

in general giving disabled cats agency and choice is the best thing you can do. whether this means them deciding on tasks they can do themselves or picking a certain kind of warrior to be or asking for an assistant to help them out when they do stuff. the way you wanna pull it off again depends on my first question of “how does the relevant part of your warrior cat world treat disabled cats already”

very important point, the majority of the ableism also comes in the form of character narratives and not just the structure of the world itself. like think for a bit why the writers decided jayfeather shouldve been forced to be a medic or why briarlight got killed off early etc etc. characters ‘wanting’ to be like the abled ideal and still being bitter about not fulfilling that years down the line are just part of the ableist storylines. if youre abled id literally say just do away with those sadstuck ‘i wanted to be a warrior!’ moments. if you really want to id say pull a cinderpelt or a shadowsight where a cats time in the medicine den started their fascination with medicine and they switched to that path due to personal intrigue. id say a more interesting and realistic angle to it is having a disabled cat who found fulfilment in doing something else besides being a warrior becoming bitter about their entire clan ‘mourning’ how theyll never fight again or giving them the pretence of being a warrior being the best thing you can do.... it depends on the character really

this is just a very basic disability thing but stray from the whole ‘useless/dead weight’ way of regarding disabled characters. like dont place their worth on how well they service a clan or not theyre still deserving of shelter and whatnot. you dont need to justify a cats existence or usefulness by going ‘well they may be blind but their sense of smell is excellent so we keep them around’ or whatever its just no good

last thing i can think of is like. dont disregard how a cats disability affects them. like its fine that briarlight cant fight (or even hunt major types of prey) she doesnt need some convoluted method that lets her do that. there are like a dozen other warriors hunting and fighting and theres present value and enjoyment in the stuff she does around camp. she doesnt have to be brightheart 2 its ok

1/3 Ive yet to come across 1 Rina who actually takes into account Ninis role in a potential romantic rela b/t Gina and Ricky. I was a Rina stan in S1 and believed they could have worked then however given the end of S2 and how much closer Nini and Gina have gotten, I dont see how Gina would ever consider dating Ricky in the future. Rini broke up but not because they stopped loving e/o. There were o/ factors in the way. I think its highly likely theyll get back together at some point in...

2/3 the series. The writers clearly want whats best for these characters, esp the girls, and I trust them to do that. I dont see why Gina would ever risk her friendship w/ Nini by crushing on Ricky again. Now that G and Ni trust e/o why would she then date an/o 1 of her exes? EJs diff cuz Nini never loved him and is completely supportive of them. Ricky will always be a sore spot and I dont think G would ever hurt Nini in that way. I wish Rinas would keep in mind Gs growing friendship w/Nini. 3/3 and how that outweighs any potential romantic relationship w/ Ricky. I doubt the writers would want s/o like Gina who works so hard to open up her heart betray that trust she gained from Nini by regressing as a chara to fall for Ricky, again. Im sure Gina values her rela w/ Nini more than her past feelings for Ricky. Any thoughts you wanna share? It just angers me Rinas dont consider Ginis rela in all this ship war mess. And this is coming from someone who used to stan Rina. LOL. I forgot to add this to my ask about Gina and Nini. I definitely think the writers are holding off on a talk about the flashback scene between Ricky and Gina for S3. I have no doubt that both will get real closure about that night at some point next season. And then maybe they can start repairing their friendship back to how it was in S1 when it was mutually beneficial. Gotta leave something for their stories next season. Otherwise the shippers will throw a fit. 🤷🏽‍♀️

You make a lot of good points, anon. I agree that Ricky and Nini are still very much in love and that Ricky dating someone else will always be a sore spot for Nini, regardless of who it is. And I also 100% agree that Rini will get back together at some point in the series. In fact, I'm confident Rini will be endgame.

Gina ever dating Ricky would be a very delicate situation. I don't necessarily think she shouldn't be allowed to do so just because Nini still loves him. Hypothetically, if Ricky and Gina had mutual romantic feelings, I do think Nini would want the best for them and step aside. But it'd be a very difficult situation for all three of them and they'd all have to be very open and honest about how they're feeling in order to preserve their friendship, because trying to hide their feelings or relationship from Nini would be a huge breach of trust. We already saw how hurt Nini was when she found out Gina hadn't told her about the chocolates incident, because to her it felt like Gina didn't trust her. And in the hypothetical situation I'm describing, it would be important for Gina to get a sense of how Nini feels about her potentially dating Ricky, because she wouldn't want to do anything that ruins their friendship. As you said, anon, she'd value the friendship she already has with Nini more than something she could potentially have with Ricky.

The thing is: Ricky doesn't have romantic feelings for Gina and never did. He tried moving on from Nini with her, but he never actually got to the point where he was actually moving on and developing feelings for Gina. In Ricky's own words: he was pretending to move on. But he couldn't pretend anymore once he realised that Nini still love him. And Gina has moved on from the feelings she had for him and doesn't feel that way anymore. So the hypothetical I talked about above is moot.

We already know how much Nini's friendship means to Gina. Gina values Nini's honesty, trust, and support, and she'd never want to do anything that undermines their friendship. That's why she said she'd never step on what Ricky has with Nini in 2x04. But the thing with most R*na shippers that I've come across is that they don't like the actual person Gina is. They want her to be this fanon version of herself, who is snarky, ambitious, achievement-driven, and only cares about Ricky. Gina making other friends doesn't fit with their fanon image of her, and especially not when one of those friends is Nini, who most R*nas seem to hate and who is an active threat to their ship. They project a lot onto Gina, so they want Gina to want Nini gone as much as they do, and that's why they fully dismiss Gina and Nini's friendship. It's a similar situation with Ricky and EJ: they project their hatred for EJ onto Ricky and want Ricky to be antagonistic towards EJ again because Ricky in a way represents them in the show. It's a lot like how some fanfics show that the author has a clear dislike for a character, because that character acts in awful and OOC ways and is constantly punished by the narrative.

A lot of fandoms I've come across look at their favourite characters through the lens of their own projections, instead of looking at them as individual people separate from them. They see something in their favourite that reminds them of themselves, and suddenly that favourite must be like them in every other way too. I can't relate to feeling a need to project onto characters, so this way of looking at them has always baffled me. Especially cause it only makes stories less enjoyable for those people. But this attitude doesn't anger me, because it doesn't change canon and it ultimately only negatively affects the people who have that attitude. If they want to create unrealistic expectations for themselves, that's their problem, not mine.

Onto the last ask you sent me: I 100% agree that the writers deliberately held off on giving Ricky and Gina a talk that would allow them to mend their friendship. However, I don't think that has anything to do with the fandom/audience. I highly doubt those are kept in mind for writing choices like this. I think it's more about where both of them are in their arcs. Ricky is still struggling with really seeing the people around him, aside from Nini and Big Red, so he's not fully seeing how hurt Gina was by him just not giving her a straight rejection. And Gina pretended to not be hurt for so long because she's terrified of being so vulnerable. But she learned to be vulnerable throughout season 2 and most importantly: she learned that being vulnerable and voicing your feelings pays off. Sometimes it only gets you closure ("We aren't dating." "Obviously." gave her the rejection she needed to move on), and sometimes it gets you exactly what you wanted ("Can I kiss you? Will you be my first kiss?"). She needed to experience both to get to a point where she may be ready to talk more openly to Ricky about how he made her feel, and Ricky still isn't at a point yet, imo, where he's ready to talk about why he did what he did and make amends for his behaviour so he and Gina can be friends again. But I'm hoping that season 3 will get him there and that we'll see Ricky and Gina as true friends by the end of the season.

ive made a few of these bingo sheets and theyre fun so i decided to make one not just for e3 but also JUST for splatoon 3 (not just for e3 but for like the whole lifetime of the game). also heres my updated list of characters id like to see in smash, ordered generally by which id like more and/or think are the most realistic

since min min got in i took out helix, and since i couldnt decide whether to add in waluigi or madeline i added another row (realistically i dont think any indies are getting in but i threw some in anyway). also i was like “oh yeah maybe theyd put in a gen viii pokemon” so i threw in hatterene since thats one of my favorites.

also as for waluigi (and shovel knight for that matter) i think it would be nice to see an assist trophy get in just to break that rule. also i remember being super surprised he wasnt in brawl (back then i thought he and wario were equally important) and even though that was based on a wrong impression ive still felt like he should be in there ever since

- i actually liked drew. im so sorry to everyone who hates her but full offence, why. think about it this way ok, first of all drew became hc because silena died. silena was the traitor, the one who betrayed chb, yet after she died campers celebrated her as a hero? and then drew suddenly has to replace her and live up to idk that legacy she left behind,, when all of a sudden this girl named piper swoops in and takes her place. idk abt u but i wld be salty abt that too. not only that, but as an asian, the chances of drew having faced racism/bullying as a child is pretty high (she studies at brooklyn academy). which means that when she finds out shes a demigod, and arrives at chb where most of the campers are white (this is an assumption btw), she’d obviously be scared of being bullied for her skin color right?? so the first thing she wld do before the campers get to bully her is to bully them before they can do so. (sentence structure here is wack i apologize) ofc this might not even have happened, drew could have had a perfect childhood && was a b1tch for no reason, BUT EVEN THEN HER ROLE AS A BULLY WAS PRETTY VITAL BECAUSE THAT FURTHER SHOWED THE CONTRAST BETWEEN HER AND PIPER,, HIGHLIGHTING PIPER AS A HERO//GOOD CHARACTER,, AND THEREFORE MAKING READERS LIKE PIPER MORE. anyway stop hating on drew please. - luke didnt go to elysium

- travis and connor stoll r way too underrated. the two have been head counselors of the hermes cabin since luke was revealed as a traitor, can u imagine the stress? luke, the person they probably looked up to as a brother, betrayed them. and they didnt even have time to process this when they were thrown the roles of being hcs. that would have been so stressful and i would probably have broken down if i were them. the stoll brothers taking turns to wake up at ungodly hours because a new camper is crying and homesick and terrified, the stoll brothers having to comfort and take care of new campers, having to deal with the amount of people in that cramped space because not enough campers are being claimed fast enough. having to resolve issues between campers in the hermes cabin all the time. the stolls arent just comedic relief, and we need to stop treating them as such

- demigods of the demeter cabin arent talked about enough and i love the fact that meg was demeters kid. like she isnt the child of one of the big three yet shes so powerful.

- the floor 19 crew of mcga is srsly underrated. like do u even remember halfborn gunderson, mallory keen, tj, etc??? bc i feel like we only remember samirah, magnus, alex, and sometimes blitz and hearthstone

- sadie (tkc) was kinda annoying at first. i like her more now tho but i rmb not liking her for a phat while

- tkc and mcga need more love

- annabeth isnt smarter than leo but neither is leo smarter than annabeth. ive seen a lot of discussions about who is smarter and heres my hot take on it: neither. theyre equally smart, just in different ways. leos a genius mathematically speaking. he has no issues solving math problems meant for people much, much older than him. annabeth on the otherhand, is great at strategies etc. she can make an army of 1000 more powerful than the enemy, even if theyre outnumbered. so in my opinion, both are equally as smart//u cant compare their intelligence, because their talents lie in two different areas.

- while i do agree rick riordan isnt a god and that hes bound to make mistakes,, AND that hes given us a lot of representation,, if the representation offends the people its sposed to represent, then theres a problem. im talking about piper as a poc and wearing feathers in her hair. im not a poc, so i cant speak for them on whether or not its wrong, because i dont know either. HOWEVER, i have seen multiple posts BY pocs talking about how they didnt really like rick’s representation of piper, and thats an issue. pocs have been and are still oppressed and discriminated against by many. as a white cis man, we cant really blame him for not knowing (tho he could have done a research,, asked some pocs,, idk), but by representing pocs in that manner, hes influencing impressionable kids/teens into thinking “oh pocs wear feathers in their hair all the time” etc, which isnt true. the pjo/hoo series is extremely successful, and kids who read the books will probably start forming inaccurate opinions on pocs. the amount of fan art that depicts piper with feathers in her hair dont help either. “but rick said so in the books, so its canon” yeah well rick isnt a god and he can get some things wrong at times. im not saying we should cancel him, im saying we should start educating ourselves and not spread false info like pocs wearing feathers in their hair all the time. also that snake song shit where she sang Summertime was just- yeah. bc heres the thing you can be racist, and still include minorities, but portray them in a racist way. And even then, ignorance isn't a thing to admire. Getting those facts wrong still has a major impact. It continues to perpetuate racist stereotypes.

- the fact that most of the strong female characters in the series refuse to be “girly”, and ngl i dont really like that. just because ure girly doesnt mean u cant be strong.

- piper would have been a great way for him to start making the strong characters act girlier, but instead he went with the “I’m not like other girls” trope which is quite obnoxious to hear constantly, and I don’t think it’s necessarily great for younger girls to read that idea growing up. the closest we've ever had to a strong female character who was also into "girly" things was Silena. when I was younger I admired Piper's "I'm not like other girls" thing, but then I got older and realized that the whole mentality of "not like other girls" is super obnoxious, and a little bit toxic

Have they ever dyed their hair? 👖 What type of clothing does your OC generally wear? Why? Do they have any “signature” accessories?

since its the only ask i have so far, im gonna answer each of these for all three of my current ocs :D hope thats okay!

cedric: fallout 4 || alistair: fallout 4 || emil: fallout new vegas

eyes—

-cedric: blue-green eyes! however he actually only has one, in a sense, because a bomb once blew up close enough to his face that it burned the skin, and damaged his left eye enough that he went blind in it. he tried to take care of the injury, but the commonwealth doesnt exactly have many medicine or skincare products. it ended up getting a pretty gnarly infection, which only made it worse after scarring. so now, he wears an eyepatch over it! he regularly wears a gas mask out in the wasteland, mostly for radiation protection but partially because he is somewhat insecure about his eye, and the look of the skin around it. when he isnt wearing one though, people do definitely notice his eyes for that reason, more than anything else. he doesnt have any particular habits, other than consistently wearing an eye covering.

-alistair: his eyes arent anything particularly special, really. just a plain dark brown, dark enough to look black from a distance. he doesnt have any specific habits, per se, as he is a synth and thats not necessarily in his program. however, if hes close enough with someone, he will make a fair amount of (bad) jokes or comments and accentuate them with a wink or an eyebrow raise. also, when hes frustrated he sometimes will rub his eyes with his palms, or do long drawn out blinks and eyerolls. his eyes arent all that notable though, so people dont take much notice of them often, outside of their expressiveness.

-emil: a sort of grey, green, hazel, blue, combination? really, they dont seem to have much of a set eye-color. its hard to determine. so on the occasion that someone asks, theyll give a different answer every time, sometimes answering with a color that is definitely not even close to the actual color. furthermore, theyre quite the mischievous and flirtatious type in some cases, so winking is something they do quite often, and are able to do with either eye. other times, theyll look someone up and down when facing them, but with an absent expression that makes it hard to tell whether theyre checking the person out or sizing them up. their eyes dont get noticed often because again, they arent anything particularly special, but when in a relationship, they do find that partners seem to take a particular interest toward the confusing matter of their eyes, specifically the color.

hair—

c: pre-war, he kept his hair relatively well-managed, a tidy crop with maybe a bit more length than the "average" mens cut. post-war, however, he frankly sees getting his hair done as too much effort, only occasionally stopping for a trim and otherwise letting it grow out, and tying it up if it gets in the way. his boyfriends quite fancy this, liking to play with it when they spend time together. maccready, on occasion, will even braid it if hes stressed or in a bad mood, as a way of calming himself down. (when he does this, cedric tries to keep the braid in as long as possible.) washing hair isnt necessarily easy, in a world where even just clean water itself is in short supply, let alone soap. however, he does try his best to clean it when he can, because he doesnt like the feeling of dirty hair. he also has never dyed his hair, because hes always been content with his natural brown color, even if its a bit "plain."

a: he keeps his hair close to a stubble, consistently. his hair doesnt grow very rapidly, but still, he will likely be seen getting his hair cut every couple weeks to keep it from growing out. he likes looking put together, and will rarely ever be caught genuinely dirty. any chance he gets to clean himself, he will, and any time he needs a haircut, you can bet he'll be on his way to the nearest place that offers it. he refuses to dye his hair, saying that it creates a look of unprofessionalism, (and hair dye doesnt go well over black usually.) nobody really understands why hes so insistent on looking put-together and professional all the time, but they accept it, even if he sometimes takes more time to get ready in the mornings than anyone else.

e: shaved on one side, long on the other. its also naturally got a bit of curl, which adds volume so it doesnt get too flat and stringy when it goes unwashed. they dont wash their hair as obsessively as alistair, though they will do a quick clean if they get the time. they dont particularly like the idea of using irradiated water to clean off, but its that or use purified water which is in relatively short supply. however, foraging is a bit of a strong point for them, so they will use natural supplies for cleaning off if possible, from plants and such. keeping hair maintained is hard in a relatively desolate area like the mojave, but whenever they find scissors and some free time theyll do a trim. scissors arent exactly a match for a nice set of clippers, but you learn to make do. they have dyed their hair with some temporary colors before, but never anything permanent—they actually quite like their natural gingery-blond color.

clothes—

c: whatever will protect him while also being comfortable enough that he can tolerate him with his sensory issues. however, in situations where he needs to looks somewhat "official," he will wear his minutemen-issued jacket over a decent shirt and pants set. however, he will rarely ever be seen without some sort of mask, unless the situation happens to be one where a gasmask or something similar would be improper. even then, the eyepatch stays on. so id say the eyepatch is somewhat a "staple" of his wardrobe, though its less of a fashion choice and more of what he deems a necessity.

a: if possible, he would regularly wear a button-down and pants that match. however, in an irradiated post-war wasteland, with hostiles around every corner, thats not a particularly feasible option; thus, he wears whatever is available that is in good condition but also effective. effectiveness is his priority, of course, but it does frustrate him if his clothing doesnt at least look decent. people see him as a bit of a pansy for it, but when he was in the institute, he was used to wearing a uniform that was focused on looking clean rather than being highly functional. so after escaping, that stuck with him a bit. he does, however, have an accessory he refuses to be without, and thats his and noras wedding ring. even after forming new relationships and finding a new purpose in the world, its impossible to move on from someone who was his whole world, what feels like only a few months ago.

e: emil most definitely prioritizes function over fashion. appearance is important, sure, but they recognize that it definitely is not the most important, when youre traveling across a hot desert full of giant scorpions and gang members. however, one thing that they always have, whether theyre wearing it or just has it in their pack, is this one puffy jacket, with a fur-lined hood. they found it in the dresser of a destroyed house they were scavenging through, and it somehow was in near-mint condition. the reason it was so special to them, though, is because it had a note in the pocket, from a girl to her older sibling. the girl being emils sister, who moved away with their father after their parents got divorced. the letter was addressed from her to them, but was never sent. and sure, while they knew that this almost definitely confirmed she had died, they were just happy enough having something from her. so they never go without the jacket, even though its warm (and a bit heavy.) impractical, but sentimental.

Summary: the iida family wants to meet the partner of their youngest kid, but said partner is not ready for It.

Jerico paced around the room with her hands behind her back, mina stops her grabbing her shoulders-- its gonna be fine!-- adds the student.

--But what if they dont like me?! What if they want him to date someone else?

Uraraka softly pats her Friends back-- dont worry ! Theyll love you! Theyll see that youre a perfect match for their son!

-- but just-- I got nothing to wear! What if they go formal and I just-- jeri sits on her bed clutching a pillow-- what if I have nothing to wear!

They hear a soft knock before anyone can answer-- jerico? Is everything alright in there? Midoriya told me that youre not feeling well..-- said iida.

-- coming!-- she says opening the door peeking her head through it-- tenya...babe..I think we should cancel...-- she says looking away sighing-- I dont think im the right one to meet your family-- she said leaning on the doorframe crossing her arms.

-- whyd you say that jerico? Youre perfect!

--Im not! First of all im from another country!-- she says with tears in her eyes looking away-- im so loud I cant control my volume, I have nothing to wear and to top it all off I dont even get the same grades as you do --She looks at him and sniffs drying her tears with her sleeve-- I think we should call it off

Tenya hugs her tightly and buries his head on her hair-- please dont say that...-- he says with a strained tone-- youre perfect jerico, my family wont care if youre not from here-- he cups her cheek with a flushed face-- youre funny, Smart, youre absolutely beautiful-- he cups her other cheek squishing them-- grades dont define you, you, me or anyone! Grades are just numbers, they are a grading system, but outside? They dont matter-- he adds lowering his hands to her jaw caressing her cheekbones with his thumbs.-- its going to be fine, but I wont accept you talking yourself down--he puts a strand of hair behind her ear-- its okay if youre loud because I love you this way-- he kisses her softly and after some seconds he pulls away-- I wont let my family talk bad about you, in fact they know the best of you!-- he says hapilly-- howd you saved me with stain, howd you won against me in the festival, they see you as I see you, for the amazing woman you are

The silence is short before jerico sobs even harder hugging him-- youre so sweet!

He hugs her tightly with a soft smile, bending down a little-- I wont let anyone be mean to you, theyll deal with me first

She dries off her tears and presses a kiss to his cheek-- thank you

Tenyas cheek turn red, and he fixes his tie, before he says anything his reciproburst goes haywire and he runs past her mumbling nonsense. Making her laugh.

-- anyways... I gotta go now, midnight said shed take me to see some stuff to we-- she turns around to her Friends finding her in tears too.

-- you two are so sweet! -- adds mina.

-- so cute!-- adds uraraka.

Jiro nodds -- so cute!

She chuckled and grabbed her jacket-- gotta go!

As she walks with midnight and recovery girl, who decided to join them to go outfit hunting her teacher softy elbows her-- we'll find you something nice to wear! Youll see!

Jeri scratches the back of her neck knowing what midnight could get up to.

They searched all the stores they could and the dinner was fast approaching.

Jerico is feeling anxious now, recovery girl softly pats her back-- we can try there!-- she points at a suit store.

Midnight nodds-- yes, that could work!

Jeri trusting her teachers judgment follows them.

Iida Is tapping his foot waiting for jerico at the entrance of the UA. He looks around.

--where is she?-- he mutters scratching tbe back of his neck. He was fine with arriving late. His family wouldnt mind.

--Sorry! We couldnt find anything!!-- jerico comes in his field of view, his breath is taken away when he sees her in a suit, her hair tied up.

--oh...-- he mutters and both uraraka and midoriya hold him back, jiro and mina roll up his pants so recirpoburst doesnt rip them.

Jerico giggles and hugs him-- lets go yeah?

Tenya nodds and fixes his pants saying goodbye and getting in the car.

As they drive he hugs her tightly-- you look so beautiful -- he says caressing her arm.

--If I could help you pull out your tubes I can do this!

--Come on it wasnt that hard!

She raises a brow.

Even though tenya was ready to make such change he was an absolute baby.

--come on ten!-- she said.

--Its gonna hurt jerico!

-- thats why im here, come on

He sighs pulling out the first tube, Before he can scream she sits on his lap and kisses him.

He turns red and hugs her waist with one hand.

-- see? Not that hard!

He starts to giggle meekly-- well..if I get a kiss for each one...ill get twelve kisses

-- let me desinfect that for you

-- as I was saying, not that hard!-- tenya protested-- besides! ...oh hey we're here

He gets out first and helps her, he takes her hand, and walk into their home.

Taking off their shoes they walk in and are greeted with iidas mom, dad and his brother.

--tensei!--says iida hugging his brother-- I cant Belive youre here!

The ex hero smiles-- I I couldnt pass up the opportunity to meet my brothers partner, hi, im tensei

Jerico nodds-- im jerico, nice to met you tensei-- she bows.

Dinner arrives and as they eat, jerico is struggling with the chopsticks..

She scratches the back of her neck and tenya just hands her a fork and a Knife.

-- th thanks-- she adds embarassed eating her food.

-- dont be embarassed!!-- says tenyas mom-- he told us you arent fully used to chopsticks so we put a set for you!

Tenya also pulls out a fork and a Knife smiling.

Her cheeks turn Pink and she smiles softly eating with a content giggle.

--so-- starts tenyas dad-- our son has told us plenty about you but id rather hear about you from your own mouth

Jerico drinks water and looks at her father in law-- well, im originally from Argentina!, Im the oldest from four kids-- she says-- Im more into art than anything, I also play the guitar, what else would you like to know mr. Iida

Tenyas dad smiles-- well, I can only say that my son scored a winner

Jericos cheek flush red and tenya chokes on his drink blushing red-- dAD!

After dinner jeri helps pick up the table and wash the dishes.

--youre a very lovely girl, but I must ask-- says tenyas mother-- who confessed first?

Sighing in relief that it was only a simple question and not a "whats your intentions with my son" question she giggled-- I did

Tenya flushes even redder than before and grabs jerico walking outside saying --GOODBYE!

his family laughs, and tensei says something before they leave.-- jerico, take care of him for me-- he says patting her arm-- and please show him how to relax

She laughs hugging tensei-- I Will, dont worry!

She says her goodbyes and both go back to the UA.

jerico crashes ontop of tenya both in their comfy pjs.

He hugs her waist pulling her closer and smiling.

-- my family really loved you back there-- he says leaving down the formality.

--im glad--she answers-- maybe one day youll meet mine!

Tenya smiles-- dyou think theyll like me?

She nodds and holds his hand-- im sure theyll do

He smiles and kisses her forehead.

As they fall asleep, tenya humms "just the two of us "by Grover Washington.
