One day you're young and doing tequila shots til sunrise and waking up in alleys and the next thing you know you're extolling the virtues of having a wagon every time you take yours to the supermarket because people in their 40s fuckin love a wagon and keep asking you about it and then you go home and clock an exciting bird at the window and wonder how this is what you're doing with your twenties

In their paired ending Constance and Jeritza settled down in Nuvelle and we’d in their rosegarden
In their paired ending Petra and Hubert settle down in Nuvelle, do you think they also wed in the rose garden?
I like to think that all of the black eagles wed in the rose garden, in fact they all had their weddings at the same time!

Note
Imagine being in a relationship with a yandere and not knowing that they're yandere but you think that they're unhappy in the relationship so you break up with them
Sure, you didn't specify a fandom or characters so I'll mix it up a bit if that's okay
Hope you'll enjoy😄
Trigger Warning: Yandere, Obsessive behaviour, Possessive behaviour, Kidnapping
Alhaitham: It isn't a surprise that you don't know he's a yandere, he is perfect in hiding his darker thoughts, it isn't a surprise either that you think he doesn't like you, even as a yandere he will be distant most of the time, he just doesn't know how to deal with his strong feelings.
The break up doesn't happen, Alhaitham's studies you so well that he can predict anything you do before you do it, he is like an akasha terminal with only information about you. He will admit that knowing that you think he hates you actually hurt him a bit, but it's all okay, all missunderstandings are cleared now, and you wont leave him again.
"Why would you think I'm unhappy, I'm never happier than when I am with you, remove such silly thoughts from your mind, dear"
Signora: It's not hard to imagine why you would think she is unhappy, she views herself as above you, that you should feel honored to be with her. No matter what she does or what she says, she never feels unhappy being with you.
Signora's reaction to you trying to break up is rage, how dare you leave her, it will take a while for her to calm down and hear you out. After hearing you think she is unhappy, she will start to be softer towards you, she doesn't want this to happen again. You will recieve more compliments even if she isn't the best at them.
"You aren't allowed to leave me, how could you ever think that I'm unhappy after all I've done for you"
Jingliu: She acts cold even to you, sure she may keep an arm around you at all time but it wouldn't be a surprise if you think she is forcing it for you, her face barely ever changes even to you and her blindfold always stay on, she gives a lot of mixed signals.
A break up with Jingliu would never end well, she wouldn't hesitate to remove a few limbs to make you stay, even if you explain it to her that she seems unhappy with the relationship she will still remove the limbs, she loves you so much, she can't risk you ever leaving her, you can't leave her if you don't have any legs now can you.
"Stop crying, you brought this upon yourself... did you really think I didn't like you, I guess I need to show you just how much you mean to me"
Hubert: He places his loyalty to Edelgard above even you, even as a yandere that wont change, Edelgard has been his whole life and sure he may love you but to put you above the empress is something he would find hard to do.
But it hurts Hubert however much he tries to hide it when you tell him he looks unhappy in the relationship, it hurts him even more when you tell him you wanna break up. He isn't unhappy, far from it, you are someone he wishes to spend the rest of his life with. You will feel a cloth over your mouth and nose as you start to black out, the last thing you see before waking up the next time is Hubert's eerie smile.
"Did you sleep well, my apologies if you feel any side effects, that wouldn't be my intention, now lay down again, I'll be back in a short while, have to make sure there isn't any way out"

Random observations on this season (updating)
(SPOILERS, OBVIOUSLY)
Episode 1
I don't think we've ever seen Assane do a genuine fourth-wall break before
OK so Claire has a last name now
Assane really expected that he could just show up and Claire would just fall at his feet
I'm surprised Benjamin is just allowed to continue working at his shop
This feels better-edited than Parts 1 & 2
Name a more iconic duo than Belkacem and failing constantly (she really doesn't listen, does she)
Episode 2
Philippe Courbet sighting
NEVER invite Guédira to a funeral lmaooo
Hang on I'm just now realizing that Juliette is at this funeral, too (she's standing in the second row behind Benjamin and Claire and honestly doesn't seem too upset about Assane's "death")
I like how in the flashback Babakar tells Assane that he reminds him of his mother and then it turns out she was a criminal
This seems to be around the time of Raoul's birthday again; he really can't catch a break on that
Episode 3
New shipping war just dropped: Guédira/Belkacem vs Guédira/Fleur
That bit where Claire was outright begging Benjamin to tell her Assane was alive and he couldn't...that was sad
But then it was followed by Benjamin doing the "uhh my FRIEND just died" act with Belkacem which was funny
This gang of thugs is trying a little too hard tbh
Assane's disguise in this episode is fucking terrible lol
The basketball coach disguise, on the other hand, is the only time I've genuinely thought he wasn't recognizable
Episode 4
Ironically that coach persona is probably the best parenting Assane has ever done
Claire? Doing things that are vaguely cool?? That feels illegal. Also, she looked so proud of herself for swiping that book, lol
Betraying Benjamin was certainly...a choice on Assane's part ("everyone disliked that")
This episode is going to devastate the show's Tumblr fandom
Episode 5
Assane trolling the shit out of Guédira will never not be funny
These 1998 flashbacks are pretty dark actually
Honestly the way Claire got that reveal out of Benjamin was very well-played on her part
Guédira out here looking like present-day Ringo Starr with that disguise
Aww look at Assane playing the matchmaker for Guédira and Belkacem, heh heh
This is easily one of the funniest episodes
Except Benjamin is straight up not having a good time -- it looks like he got beaten up in prison
Episode 6
Actually, now that I'm thinking about it, I'm not totally sure Benjamin knows that Assane betrayed him. It's possible he just thinks that he fucked up with the bracelet and then missed a cue in the maze
"Pasta with ketchup" jesus fucking christ Claire that sounds horrendous (although I'm guessing the only reason they did that was because of the ketchup-bottle reveal)
Assane really has Claire's number because he's now seduced her twice under two different identities
IDK whether or not Raoul has figured out that the coach is his dad but it's funny that he still seemed to be shipping it either way
It's nice that we get to see Claire's more playful side in this season, like her messing with Assane by acting really flirty with "Alex" after she realizes they're the same person
INCREDIBLE casting for the younger and older versions of Keller tbh; they easily look like they could be the same person
Episode 7
What a nice family reunion...it would be a shame if something happened to it...
The flashbacks are significantly darker than the present timeline this time around
Guédira finally got to arrest Assane, good for him!
The scene at the train station with the letter from Assane to Claire sort of reminds me of the ending to A Tale of Two Cities, which I had to read for AP prep a while back
Oh look, Hubert Pellegrini is back
So they're CLEARLY setting up another season with this ending
The choice of people to show on the montage there was interesting, lol
I could see a Juliette antagonist arc happening tbh
Maybe Assane's mom isn't all she seems either
And what about Benjamin? If he turns against Assane the viewers are going to lose their minds

q!BBH's Desert Lore is eerily similar to a scene in Salad Fingers Episode 10 "Birthday" ─ and other coincidences
WARNING: Salad Fingers is a gore web series. Therefore, All pictures here are going to be censored as to not havily disturb anyone. The links for the original pictures will be listed at the end for whoever wants to see them in full.
While reading this, its good to keep in mind that cc!Bad has made references to gorey underground web series before, such as "Llamas With Hats". Therefore, it wouldn't be a big stretch for him to have used Salad Fingers as inspiration for his character's lore, or as reference.
Also huge huge huge thanks to @demodraws0606 for listening to my insane thoughts and helping me w this go give them some love !!
Tumblr media
On the day 26/nov/2023, Badboyhalo opened stream in the desert for the last time. Most people started comparing this scene to the Pinkie Pie birthday scene. But i could not help but think "huh, this reminds me of that salad fingers scene. I might be insane". so i went to look and.....:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
U can't say they arent similar. An immense desert with a clouded sky and a wooden table with 6 places, which are taken by copies of the main character. The only difference is, besides the obvious gore, that one of the chairs is empty for q!BBH, while all are taken in Salad Fingers.
Another simmilarity is that Salad Fingers tries to interact with the clones, but just as q!BBH's, they neither aknowlege him nor respond.
Demo noticed how the scenery is really similar between the two:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Despite all this, the episode has no narrative connection to q!BBH's lore. It revolves around Hubert Cumberdale's (a finger puppet created by Salad) and, later on, Salad Finger's birthdays. Generally, i understood it is about the passage of time, together with childbirth/motherhood.
But, right before this scene, still on episode 10, Salad Fingers goes to the doctor. Eventually the focus changes, and the doctor is now examinating a horse while Salad Fingers watches. The horse seems to represent Salad Finger's child. When q!BBH lost his memory, he kept talking obsessively about taking Dapper to the doctor.
Another curious coincidence is that, on the same episode and same scene as the table, "Birthday", Salad Fingers is gifted a tophat as his birthday gift:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Demo pointed out, aswell, how on epidsode 13, named "Harvest" salad fingers is walking through the deserted wasteland towards a glowing circle in the sky (the Sun). During the first desert stream, q!BBH is seen walking towards the Sun aswell. Here are some screencaps from said Salad Fingers episode:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The "Edge of Forever" name is also funny considering q!Forever's and q!Bad's close friendship. But i personally think the usage of the word "forever" is only a coincidence. Or it could be related to q!Bad's immortality, the Edge of Forever, than, being where bbh goes to be reincarnated.
On the end of this same episode, "Harvest", Salad Fingers dies and is substituted by Boy Fingers, who is essentially a clone of Salad. This might be relevant, regarding q!BBH possibly dying, but i dont really know how to fit this into a complete theory. Although, since Salad dies from being boiled in a soup and consumed by Boy Fingers, there might be some connection to q!Bad's theme of gluttony.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The way both Salad Fingers and amnesiac Q!Badboyhalo behave also overlaps a bit. The constant jumping from subject to subject, a certain level of innocence and naiveness, a detachment from reality and unacknowledgement of death and violence.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Overall, the themes that Salad Fingers explores ─ birth, motherhood, fatherhood, conflituous familial relationships, some may say xenofobia or racism, and the 1st World War ─ arent at all related to q!Bad's story. I don't believe cc!Bad used Salad Fingers for anything other than inspiration ─ if it was even used. But, i still found all of this curious and interesting, and i wanted to share with all of you.
If u have any thoughts, feel free to share them! I personally am not a fan of gore, so i haven't seen all of Salad Fingers. This is another reason i'm writing this, so ppl that know more than me can share what they think.
Ty sm for taking ur time and reading this !!!

Why Edelgard's "Cute" Moments are Important
Something I see brought up repeatedly as a criticism of Edelgard/Crimson Flower is that Edelgard doesn't have an arc and/or is undermined by the writers adding scenes of her being cute to make her marketable as a "waifu". Both of these criticisms seem to stem from an inability to recognize Edelgard's arc for what it is and how those "cute" moments factor into it. Now, I'm not suggesting that Edelgard isn't intended to appeal to people who are attracted to women, of course she is, all the lords are intended to appeal to people of compatible orientations, but simply dismissing Edelgard "gap-moe waifu bait" is reductive and does as much of a disservice to her character and the themes of her route as dismissing Dimitri and Claude as "'troubled-but-I-can-fix-him'/Lovable Rogue husbando bait" would to theirs.
An essential component of Edelgard's character is that she has nobody to provide her with emotional support (Hubert is, by his own admission, not equipped for such a role) so she coped with her trauma and her need to make sacrifices for a better future by suppressing her feelings and adopting the persona of a haughty princess/ruthless emperor as a defense mechanism. She admits as much to Byleth in their A-Support:
Edelgard: I can't deny [I'm 'rather detached' too]. Ever since I underwent those... procedures, I've certainly distanced myself from the ordinary world.
The whole conceit of "The Edge of Dawn" is that Edelgard cherishes her academy days because they make her feel normal again and wishes they could last forever, but she still has to put up a false front because she is not innocent to the horrors of the world and feels compelled to correct them even at the cost of her own happiness.
If Byleth and the Black Eagles choose to side with her at the Holy Tomb she finally able to close the distance she had to maintain during the school year and start processing her emotions instead of simply shoving them aside. She tells Byleth in their B-Support how their influence has enabled her overcome her loneliness, step out from behind the mask, and be her true self again:
Edelgard: I want to thank you. Because of you, I feel I can walk my fated path without losing myself. If I were alone, I might have lost perspective and become a harsh leader with a heart of ice. But I'm not alone. With you by my side, I'm somehow free to be not only a leader but... simply Edelgard. Until now, no one has been able to surpass me— much less command me. I have always been seen as an untouchable princess or emperor. No one spoke to me as an equal or met my gaze without flinching.
That is what her "cute" moments represent. Unlike other routes, Crimson Flower features an Edelgard who didn't allow herself to be consumed by her mask and her mission. Instead of burying her true self she is able to open up again and start reconnecting with the normal girl she used to be. It's no coincidence that despite her insistence that "the Edelgard who shed tears died many years ago", the final scene of her route (closing narration and S-Support notwithstanding) ends with her openly weeping. Thanks to Byleth "the Edelgard who shed tears" came back to life.

Eagle under the lions paw pt 3
Tumblr media
You and Dimitri did end up spending more time outside of training, having meals at the dinner hall, and doing errands together. It was nice to finally know the one you were so desperate to meet all those years ago.
"So what's up with you and Dimitri? I knew you guys sparred together but you two have been noticeably closer as of late" Dorathea brought up before sipping her tea.
"We've just hit it off" you replied. You noticed her eyebrow raised.
"Just as friends of course" you blurted out.
"(Y/n) You know you can trust me to keep a secret" she assured you.
"I swear we're just friends" you replied.
"Ok, it's just I've noticed the way he's been looking at you since you arrived at the academy," she said.
"What do you mean by that?" You asked.
"You haven't noticed? He looks at you the same way a lost little puppy would. He looks at you with absolute adoration, honestly, I'm a little jealous" she sighed.
Was Dorathea right? Did Dimitri like you romantically? You didn't know how to feel about it. Yes, he was strong, handsome and kind. All qualities that a spouse should have but you didn't really see him as a romantic partner.
"I don't really see him in a romantic way" you replied.
"Then you should probably tell him, it's better to let him know soon than lead him on" she advised.
"But what if he doesn't have a romantic interest? Then it'd be embarrassing" you asked.
"Trust me, even if it's all platonic it's better to draw that line before things get messy" she explained.
That conversation has been playing on loop in your mind since then. You felt a wood tap on your hip that shook you out of your trance.
"Are you alright?" Dimitri asked you.
"Yes, sorry I was just thinking about class this morning" you lied.
"Finding it overwhelming? If you want we can cut the training short today" he offered.
"No, I can continue. After all the battle of the eagle and the lion is only a few weeks away, there's no way I can slack off now" you replied.
"You're not confident in your abilities?" He asked.
"I'm confident but I have no idea about everyone else's skills, and if I am unfortunate enough to get pitted against you then there's no way I'd win" you replied.
"You shouldn't be hard on yourself, all you can do is try your best, it is a mock battle after all," he told you. You could see why Dorathea said what she did about how he looks at you. A soft and kind expression was always plastered on his face when you were around him but it wasn't enough to be evident that he did have feelings for you.
🦅🦅🦅
"Edelgard and I have discussed the plan for the upcoming battle of the eagle and the lion" Manuela addressed the class as she crudely drew a map of gronder field.
"This battle will be against both the blue lions and the golden deer so we must effectively fight both teams.
"So we must separate to take on both teams," she said before drawing three arrows from the left side, one to the top, one to the right, and one to the center.
"Caspar and Ferdinand will advance north to the lions, Linhardt and Hubert will follow behind to provide support" she addressed the three.
"Edelgard and Petra will advance to the east and take on the deers with Dorathea providing support"
"This central fort is an advantage for archers so try to stop the other teams from capturing it and allow Bernadetta to claim it" she was explaining before a shriek was heard.
"No I don't want to be in the center, I wouldn't last a minute there!" Bernadetta retorted.
"That is why (Y/n) will cover for you" Manuela reassured.
"Don't worry, it should be a piece of cake Bernie. With everyone else, it makes it easier to pick off anyone who gets too close" you tried to reassure Bernadetta who was obviously stressed.
"If things get too tough I'll cover you," you said.
🦅🦅🦅
You signaled Bernadetta to take the position at the fort while there was a clearing.
"I hope this ends soon…" she muttered as she got into her position after hopping off her horse.
"So do I" you replied as you looked out. The golden deer had suffered a significant loss. Not that the Eagles were doing much better. You could see that both Casper and Ferdinand were walking off the field, while Hubert and Linhardt retreated to the east to form up with Edelgard and Petra.
"Bernie, you might want to start firing now" you advised, earning a shriek from her.
"Where?!" She struggled to make out.
"North, Sylvain, and Dedue are coming. You take out Sylvain and I'll stop Dedue" you suggested.
"Ok…" she replied before you moved forward to stop them getting through.
"Dedue you fall back to cover Ashe, I'll try capturing the fort" Sylvain told Dedue.
This wasn't good, Sylvain was now in a blind spot for Bernie and Dedue was leaving range.
"Hey you're the girl I've seen Dimitri hanging around recently" he commented.
"So what of it?" You asked him as you approached him.
"Nothing just realized it was you," he said as he tried to strike you and you dodged.
"You're pretty cute, maybe after this is over we could get something to eat?" he proposed. You could feel the heat in your cheeks rise. You swung your lance towards him with enough force to knock it out of his hands.
"Whoa, you're feisty!" He exclaimed.
"I'm sorry, I didn't hurt you did I" you asked, shocked that you'd managed to knock it straight out of his grip.
"I'm fine, just didn't have a good grip… I guess I'll have to forfeit" he told you as he picked up his lance.
"My offer's still open by the way," he told you before he walked off the field.
You had very little time to relax before you saw Dimitri's approach.
"Bernie fall back!" You shouted earning another shriek from her. The Blue Loins were overwhelming in comparison to your house. You readied yourself knowing you'd certainly fail but still like Dimitri told you, you'd have to give it your best shot. You charged toward him and tried to strike him overhead, however, he blocked and pushed you back. He then tried to counter but you barely avoided him as you tried to center yourself.
You tried desperately to best him but he always manages to block your attacks. You can barely keep a good grip on your lance with the force that he strikes back with. Then you hear a crack and feel his lance hit your ribs. The air in your lungs was knocked out of you as you hit the ground, unable to comprehend what happened til you tried to get up, realizing that your lance was snapped in half and feeling a horrible pain in your side causing you to yelp in pain.
"(Y/n) I'm so sorry!" He exclaimed as he kneeled to you. He looked at you with horror.
"Are you alright? Do you need help getting up? I swear I didn't mean to hurt you" he asked, panic evident in his voice. He hadn't realized how hard he was hitting with the adrenalin pumping in his blood.
"I know you didn't mean it…" you replied between labored breaths as you tried to stand.
Dimitri took notice of your pain and helped you up. "Do you want me to help you get back to camp?" He offered. But you shook your head and declined.
"I should be fine. Besides, you have to support your team" you told him. In honesty, you did need help but you didn't want to burden him, as helping you would also count him as retreating. You walked forward a bit before flagging Bernadetta to come over and support you.
"Oh goddess, he nearly killed you…" she stuttered as she let you lean on her for support.
"No, he didn't, I'm sure it'll just be a bruise" you tried to calm her as she took you to the infirmary tent.
Manuela inspected your injury for a while before giving you some medicine.
"You've got a bruised ribcage, I can't really do much except give you some pain relief and suggest you take it easy for the next month," she told you before handing you a glass of water.
"I can't believe how quickly the blue lions managed to advance. They barely gave you guys breathing space, that new professor really is something" she sighed.
You swallowed the bitter medicine she had offered and drank your water before noticing Edelgard in the corner of your eye.
"Did you get injured too?" You asked.
"No, I wanted to check up on you. I heard from Bernadetta that you were hurt" she replied with a hint of worry in her voice.
"Manuela told me I've got a bruised ribcage, I've just got to take it easy for a month" you replied trying to play it off as something minor.
"How did you manage to bruise your rib?" She asked as she grabbed a nearby ice pack and gently pressed it against your ribs.
"My lance ended up snapping in half while fighting Dimitri and his lance ended up hitting my ribs" you explained.
"(Y/n) You need to be more careful… I don't want anything happening to you" she said to you in an almost sorrowful tone, yet you still could feel her reservation.
"Edel, I'll be fine for now. But I promise you I'll be more careful, as long as you promise me the same.
A small smile formed on her lips yet her eyes showed that she was upset.
"I promise," she said as she held out her pinkie finger.
"I'll hold you to it" you replied before wrapping your finger around hers.
"And so will I," she told you.
"You should rest now, I don't want you getting hurt again," she told you before leaving.
So you lay staring at the top of the tent for what seemed like forever. A few more students entered suffering from far less than you had. From what you could hear amongst them the blue lions had a firm lead, now only Claude, Hilda, Petra, and Linhardt remained compared to the nearly unscathed blue lions.
Then you heard the sound of a horn. It was over. You wished you had just given up your position and avoided Dimitri, maybe that would have given your team more of a chance. Everyone was beginning to pack up. You sat up and surprisingly your ribs didn't hurt as much, now more of a dull pain thanks to the medicine.
"(Y/n) are you alright?" Dimitri asked as he entered the tent.
"I am, I just have to take it easy for a bit," you told him.
"I'm sorry" he kneeled beside you.
"It's fine, I know you didn't mean it. Obviously, my lance wasn't that well crafted" you told him.
"I still feel awful for it, tomorrow I'll get you a replacement," he said.
"No, you don't have to" you retorted.
"No it's the least I could do to apologize," he told you.
You stood up, trying to not express the pain you still felt.
"We should probably get going now, it'll be a long walk back to the monastery," you said as you gathered up the armor you had removed when you'd arrived.
🦅🦅🦅
"Thank the goddess that was a mock battle" was something you'd hear for the rest of the day. Even during dinner, you hear more of it.
"The blue lions were leagues ahead of us, they barely gave us a chance" Caspar sighed. You could tell he wasn't too satisfied with his performance.
"(Y/n) you haven't had a bite of your food yet, are you alright?" Dorathea asked you. You hadn't even realized you had just been staring at your food blankly.
"No I'm alright, I've just been thinking about today" you replied.
"Yeah… today's results have left a bitter taste in my mouth" she replied.
You ate in silence. What the others kept saying was on your mind, what if it hadn't been a mock, what if it had been an actual war? It was terrifying to imagine. All these people sitting with you would have been dead. That blow Dimitri had dealt to you could have killed you if it hadn't been a training weapon but he wouldn't do that, he cared about you deeply.
Honestly thinking about it made a knot form in your stomach. You stood up and picked up your half-eaten plate of food.
"(Y/n) are you sure you're alright?" Dorathea asked you again.
"I'm fine," you told her before leaving the table and returning your plate to the front.
You walked out of the dining hall and were on your way back to your dorm when you felt a hand on your shoulder.
"(Y/n) Is something wrong?" Dimitri's voice asked.
"Dimitri, why aren't you inside? You and your class should be celebrating" you asked him.
"I saw you leave your table after barely eating, I was worried about you" he explained.
"I'm fine, just tired," you told him. You tried to leave but he reached out and grabbed your wrist, his grip was firm, like his life depended on it.
"Tell me (Y/n), I know there's something on your mind," he said. You remained silent.
"Do you not trust me?" He asked.
"I do" you replied.
"Then tell me, I promise you it'll only be between us if you wish," he told you. You sighed before finally responding.
"I've been thinking about today… What if it hadn't been a mock battle, I know it sound stupid but the thought terrifies me" you explained.
"I think almost all of us have thought about it today, but just think what reason would we have to start a war?" He replied.
You thought long and hard on what he said. There really wasn't a reason as far as you could tell.
"The isn't" you replied.
"See, so there's no reason to worry" he told you.

Scarlet Blaze Ch 14
So close to completing this.
MAIN STORY
How many chapters is this game? 15, right?
Typical Caspar excited to murder. God, he's awful in this route.
Dorothea breaking the 4th wall. She says she can't deal with any more doubling back lol.
I love how they dress up "kill everyone who resists until the Empire Imperializes Fodlan" as "unite Fodlan" lamo.
Felix, Sylvain, and Dimitri discussing strategy. Seteth and Rhea joining it.
They suggest retaking the monastery. Not a bad idea. Rhea also thinks this could flip some Alliance lords.
Haha, the "bad guys" are going to kill Bernadetta's awful father.
They think by doing this, it'll inspire the faithful to unite against Edelgard's war.
Dimitri says to keep quiet to keep Empire defenses down. Dimitri suggests tricking the enemy. It's funny how the only lord that doesn't use tricks and strategy is . . . Edelgard.
Ugh, so many side battles again.
MAP/SIDE QUESTS
See, this is what's so annoying. I talked to Raphael who wants to fight Dimitri because he's so legendarily strong (this game hypes Dimitri so hard, and I am here for it). Anyways, that's not my problem. My problem is that Raphael can't wait to ask Dimitri about his training routine after the war is over. Like, I get it's Rapaheal who isn't the deepest thinker, but this attitude is everywhere - like war is no different than play fighting and like, after going to war against someone, not only will they definitely survive, but will get chatty with you about training - not.
Dorothea, Ashe, and Yuri are the only characters who seem to realize they're about to go kill innocent people, lamo.
Hubert just insulted me. Seems the right time to declare my love for him with the merc whistle, lol. He earned it doing almost all the work this playthrough. (it's even funnier bc an NPC just asked if I had a special person, and Shez picked Hubert).
Add more to Caspar being a complete psychopath in this route - he's happy his brothe failed because now he could potentially rule his family's territory and make Edelgard's vision come to life (oh, yes, how amazing, passing it from one noble male to . . . the male noble's brother, viva la revolution! /s)
Shoutout to the NPC who's pissing himself over the idea of having to fight Dimitri, Dedue, and Felix.
Add Mercedes to the list of people who realize they're going to kill other people.
Claude talking to Byleth and being like, if I had you around, I'd probably be a decent person!
I had to fight Cyril :(
SHEZ & FERDINAND A
Ferdinand is pulling a Dimitri and working until tired. Unlike Dimitri, though, Ferdinand listens.
This support is shipping Ferdibert because it's Hubert who sent Shez, and apparently worried about Ferdinand.
It was kind of short.
EDELGARD & HUBERT A
God, I hope this is better than their final Houses support.
Haha, she's asking about Byleth. Wishing she could've recruited Byleth, lamo. I bet this goes differently if you're a better gamer.
It sucks that, once again, Hubert and Edelgard's relationship is reduced to Edeleth bait rather than being about Hubert.
And so, once again, Hubert's not going to be any credit for being the Eagles' single braincell.
Wait....... did they just confirm the Crest connection between Edelgard and Byleth?
God, I would HATE it if they did that to Dimileth. Idk, there's something about magic influencing people to like each other that takes away from the romance of the relationship.
How did Edeleth fans react to this?
Oh, we're actually talking about Hubert now.
Hubert is happy with the role groomed into him. To Edelgard's credit, she wishes things would reverse sometimes.
I love how different all the lord-retainer relationships are in this game. They made 3 distinct, interesting ones. No points if you guess my favorite of them.
LINHARDT & PETRA B
These two have so little in common. Also, I'm going to need to grind to get their A.
They know what diaphragms are in Fodlan.
Petra needs help with a letter. It's written in archaic language. I forget that poor Petra only gets a language teacher ones, and it's Blue Lions locked. Dedue for the win.
It's a love letter, lamo.
I headcannon it's from Dorothea.
Welp, headcannon squashed. She says she has no knowledge of the writer, and is rife with mistakes.
Linhardt finds the letter sacrilegious, but Petra's impressed.
PETRA & HUBERT A
One of the worst pairings in Houses.
An assassin goes after Hubert, but Petra shoots her.
Hubert's annoyed bc he can't question her, but grateful.
Hubert critiques the tactics that Petra uses to save him. Only Hubert.
He's more surprised that a queen would use a tactic than thinking it's a bad one.
Hubert's hating on chivalry and knights.
Petra doesn't understand their thoughts, and Hubert tries to explain it.
"It's peace we are wishing for." Uh, no. People who start wars don't wish for peace.
Hubert admits it has its uses though. But dislikes it.
Hey, at least this wasn't a support revolving around Hubert gurdingly accepting Petra as an "inferior" Edelgard.
HUBERT & FERDINAND A
Hubert calls Ferdinand the ultimate noble, not sure if that's a compliment or not.
Ferdinand's like don't sneak up on me while I'm training, dumbass.
But then Hubert's like you could just kill me right now if you wanted too! Which, is kind of weird. And Ferdinand's like, stop being weird. agreed.
Ferdinand doesn't see his father as the man who raised him.
Hubert admits that Ferdinand's matured. Ferdinand admires Hubert's obsession with Edelgard.
Ferdinand asks to stand alongside both of them as Edelgard's two jewels of the Empire.
And Hubert laughs at him.
And then it ends.
Ok, so why is this such a big ship again?
DOROTHEA & PETRA A
Bummed they only have 1 support. This is my favorite ship for both of them.
They go on a date in the marketplace and are happy to get away from all the death they're causing.
Petra is surprised to see it so upbeat, considering the war. Dorothea says life goes on for commoners regardless of what nobles are doing, but get upset when family dies.
Petra claims in Brigid, everyone is family. Dorothea says Fodlan's not like that.
In Brigid, they fight over thrones and lovers, but not land, like in Fodlan (like in Scarlet Blaze, lamo). Dorothea wants the tea.
They get accosted by random dudes, but Petra fights them off. Dorothea helps, I think.
Does this mean women get accosted in the market in broad daylight in the Empire???
Hahaha, Dorothea tells Petra that her skin is silky smooth and asks her to feel. Sadly, Dorothea doesn't act on that.
Petra calls Dorothea important to her, and to watch out, that she'll keep Dorothea safe. Dorothea promises the same.
My shipping heart is happy with this, though the random attack was a bit odd.
PETRA & RAPHAEL A
I could have seen this already in GW, though it's unlikely?
Raphael is howling to catch a wolf, but it keeps getting louder, so he's upset. Petra disagrees that he's not getting better.
They've made a team up, where Raphael scares the animals, and Petra hides and kills them all. So they make a good team.
Raphael is acting as a hound, he's upset that he isn't a wolf.
Petra thinks Raphael would fit in in Brigid. He agrees and plans to visit.
I honestly have no idea if I've seen this before.
DOROTHEA & BERNADETTA B
This is their highest support.
Dorothea sees her talking to someone. And the little bit on screen looked a lot like Yuri? Dorothea confirms that it's a man.
Don't Bernadetta and Yuri have a history? Dorothea thinks it's romantic.
Yep, it's Yuri. Bernadetta talks about the commoner friend she had once, which is Yuri.
Dorothea thinks this is the makings of a good opera. Bernie insists it's not love; Dorothea says that's how an opera would work.
Honestly, though, Yuri and Bernie may be one of the least compatible pairings possible in this game.
I've heard about this. Yuri's support retcons Bernie's father's abuse into "protecting." Which is such bullshit. Imagine excusing abuse as "I'm protecting you." It's really gross.
Bernie thankfully gets to set it straight in this game. Saying her father didn't love or protect her, but just a valuable item that he owns. SOOOOO glad Hopes took the opportunity to fix that awful implication the Yuri-Bernie support added.
Dorothea says her father treated her mother like an item too.
So more Empire men treating women like possessions.
Even in the Kingdom and Alliance when characters feels pressured to perform (Slyvain, Ingrid, Hilda, Lorenz, etc . . .) - no one talks about it being so bad they're dehumanized. This really seems like an Empire-exclusive, sexism thing. (also notice that, without thinking, I came up with male and female examples of both the Kingdom and the Alliance).
LINHARDT & BERNADETTA C
I feel like I did a much better job unlocking Blue Lions supports than the other houses and I don't know why since I paid close attention to all of them.
Bernie is messing around and the weeds, and Linhardt asks why.
It's to avoid a man and a woman going on a secret date, according to Bernie at least. She thinks they'll get mad at her for interrupting their date. Linhardt says she's no more significant than a pebble on the road to them.
Honestly, Bernie thinking everyone will blow up at her is a self-centered, isn't it?
Lin's like, they're lost in their own little world. And gets a bit romantic for appreciating them for sharing love when they could die on the battlefield tomorrow. Bernie argues that in fiction, they'd get together. Then Lin's like, that's fiction, not reality. Then Bernie argues fiction that's more realistic. And Lin's like, yeah, those stories exist bc people relate to it. And they go a bit in a circle.
Then Lin just falls asleep right there.
FERDINAND & EDELGARD A
Ferdinand asks for some compassion from Edelgard about killing his father, but then says that's just pity and tells Edelgard to just give him the order she wants.
Edelgard says she's not here bc she wants something, she just wants his typical effort.
Ferdinand can't die here or history won't remember him well.
Edelgard then says imagine what history will say about me if I lose?
Then Ferdinand says he'll gladly die to further Edelgard's goals because her life matters more.
And because he's not from Faerghus, that's a good thing because dying for Edelgard = good, dying for Dimitri = bad. Or Edelgard can't recognize her own hypocrisy (Claude, at least, thinks "dying for Claude = bad" per his "wtf, Hilda" in CF).
I know Edelgard approves of Ferdinand's attitude (which is the EXACT SAME as Sylvain, Ingrid, etc . . .) because she says he's such a great noble she wouldn't have to get rid of them if they were like him.
So, unlike Dimitri, who hates it whenever Ashe or Ingrid or whoever says "I'll die for you in battle bc your life means more!" and tells them not too, Edelgard is like "wow, that's such a great attitude that I wouldn't even need to start a war if they all thought like you." Yet, somehow, this game wants me to think the Faerghus fighting back against this idea is worse than the Empire glorifying it, lamo (since Monica has the same attitude in her Edelgard support, which isn't portrayed as a negative).
Ferdinand argues for the existence of the nobility and the structure they build, that she can't throw it away. She says that's not her plan. (so, has she like, not even told him her plans??? What happens if she dies?? Would anyone have a single clue what her plan was???)
Then it goes back to their CF support, where he argues for education. And this game makes it obvious that it never occurred to her that poor people can't just automatically compete with nobles. That this dodo bird has killed hundreds of thousands without considering the gap between the poor and rich, lamo. Hopes is gold for confirming she never thought of this, only Ferdinand did.
I know Yuri does the same for Dimitri, but Dimitri already had the right idea of knowing the poor needed their basic needs meant before they can advance (and familiarizing himself with how they live unlike her staying in her ivory tower), and he also, you know, didn't go killing everyone who won't bow their heads to him bc he thinks his plans are so brilliant.
SHAMIR & HAPI C
Shamir is in a church. Hapi is confused, until Shamir says she's looking for some peace and quiet.
Hapi's "not the praying type" either. But she also just wanted quiet.
Shamir doesn't seem annoyed with Hapi's nickname, which is why Shamir is never annoying. She's edgy, yeah, but not in an annoying way.
She's talking about some pagan statue in the abyss. I honestly don't remember that.
Ohh, Shamir wound up in the abyss after the war. Then ran into trouble with the church. And Rhea hired her.
That pagan is actually from Dagda. One of their deities. Cool lore. It's apparently their god of fate.
They both wonder why it's there. Good question.
SHEZ & DOROTHEA A
Dorothea is singing for Shez. Who's like, yeah, it's good.
She's disappointed with the lack of response, because Shez isn't very cultural lol.
He says it made him warm, like his mother growing up. So he actually does get it because Dorothea was singing a lullaby.
It's a lost song though, and Dorothea doesn't know the words (only sang lalala, you cowards, give us lyrics like Annette gets!) But the song got researched and her melody is a guess.
Shez tells Dorothea that her voice touches people even if they don't understand high-art, like himself.
Dorothea lost her passion while working while singing, but she's getting her passion back now, thanks in part to Shez.
Shez thinks Dorothea speaks beautifully and can reach people's hearts, and credits her training, so it wasn't worthless. Unlike Shez who can't string a sentence together.
Dorothea says that Shez isn't back with words. And that he was actually pretty smooth and flirty.
Honestly, super cute support at the end.
EDELGARD & BERNADETTA A
Edelgard lists her worries at night; Bernie walks in on her. It's one of the places Bernie goes to be alone.
Bernie asks if Edelgard is alright after hearing the list, and offers to listen, which seems a bit OOC for Bernie.
Edelgard appreciates it, but says Bernie would get tired of it.
Bernie thinks the curse eating away at her is the same as the one eating away at Edelgard. Edelgard is impressed with Bernie's insight because she guesses right.
Edelgard is upset that TWSITD is still around after thinking she's already beaten him.
Edelgard says being kind to people doesn't help people recover from pain. Consistent with her characterization, but I HATE "feminine" things like compassion are weak instead you gotta just man your way through it (bc it's toxic to your mental health) and the game mostly proves her wrong though.
HUBERT & CASPAR B
This is their only support.
Hubert gets a report that Caspar located enemies scouting the base. He attacked, no enemies survived, and he got hurt.
Hubert's questions were all hopeful that at least one survived, but because Caspar's an idiot no one should trust with command of an army, of course they're missing intel now.
Caspar brags about it to Hubert, lamo. What an idiot. Caspar's inability to read people is also not a good thing for a commander.
Hubert is unimpressed. Actually sees it as bad.
Caspar counters that Hubert is impressed with Berligtz does it, but Hubert's like "those were reinforcements, also, he's competent."
This is why Hubert is best boy in the Black Eagles. (he or Dorothea are by far my favorite Eagles)
Caspar is like well my gut said attack, so I went, not caring at all like the smartest guy in the army thinks his plot was stupid.
Hubert keeps lecturing him. Saying he'll get people killed.
Caspar's like "if you wanna make a name for yourself, you gotta risk death!"
So . . . Caspar doesn't care that he hurt the Empire's war efforts by killing spies rather than capturing them, nor that he got his men hurt by his rash actions, because he "proved himself in battle to gain status."
Caspar is just really awful in this game. Hubert, though, is gold in this support, as usual. Even when he's a dick, he's an entertaining dick (and usually supposed to be seen as wrong lol)
Caspar learned exactly 0 things in that support.
LINHARDT & CASPAR A
Caspar wakes Linhardt up, who's slept into midday.
Caspar claims he found something amazing. Linhardt is like usually you're wrong about that.
Caspar wants to show off a huge bear someone took down. Linhardt is grossed out by the gore. Caspar really has 0 ability to see any POV but his own and understand who he's talking too.
Caspar wants to hunt it. Linhardt's like, ok, then go. Lamo.
Caspar wants to fight a bare bare-handed.
Linhardt bring up when Caspar's dad took down a bare when he was younger than Caspar. Caspar still insists he'll do it, and used to drag Lin along while bear hunting. This is how he learned healing.
I think Caspar got really dumbed down in Hopes.
Lin's like, let's focus on the war, not bears, ok? Caspar at least agrees to this.
LINHARDT & EDELGARD B
Their only support.
Edelgard plays with a cat, only after making sure no one can see her. Then Linhardt walks in, and she's thrown off.
Edelgard pretends she doesn't know the cat. Lin calls her out.
Lin likes cats. I don't know why Edelgard is surprised. Lin is basically a human cat.
Edelgard likes cats because of how they help humans (get rid of rodents, etc . . .)
Lin keeps arguing that cats are awesome because they trick people into waiting on them hand and foot.
Edelgard asks if he's owned a cat. Lin's like, seriously, that's too much work.
She's being so difficult because she didn't want Lin to own the cat.
Edelgard made a funny, accusing Lin of aspiring to be a cat.
This gap moe Edelgard stuff works wayyyy better than the stuff in Houses, imo.
SHEZ & CASPAR A
Haha, Shez is like, "Oh Caspar, there you are," and Caspar assumes that he wants to practice, Shez is like, yeah, but with your dad.
This game really dunks on Caspar, everyone just talks about how much better his dad is lamo.
Caspar is like, you're too ordinary to spare with my dad.
Apparently Count Bersraser whatever his name is really hurts people when they train, and Caspar tells Shez to cancel his plans.
After the sparing, Shez is exhausted, but Shez did better than anyone else ever did.
MAIN BATTLE
I don't remember who I'm fighting this chapter.
Why does Claude get a picture in SB? Will I see it in GW too?
Waaaaiiiitttt, is Claude . . . turning against the Empire?
He's like, we only agreed to pair with Edelgard under duress and bc the other option is the Kingdom protecting Rhea - who invented racism, who is the only reason hierarchies exist, and who made Claude stub his toe this morning.
Ok, so siding with the Empire is stupid, but thinking the Alliance can fight the Empire, Kingdom, and Church is maybe the stupidest move yet, lamo.
He thinks Dimitri will "shackle us to their outdated customs" because, you know, Dimitri is all about ruling the Empire and Alliance and not improving the Kingdom at all or anything. Projection much?
This is so funny, and dumb. Not like the writing has ever cared about making Claude look like he has the intelligence to surpass a toddler in this game.
Yep, Claude turned against the Empire, lamo.
Cut scene time! They're just marching and talking about the battle.
Dimitri's here too. And Dedue's right beside him. Of course.
Claude too, and he's like "too bad we can't do something more civilized" - like, my dude, you are part of the problem.
Seteth coming in on a dragon looking badass. He's begging Flayn to retreat. But she won't. Please don't make me kill her :(
Edelgard's like "time to prove the Empire's supremacy!" and "anyone who stands in our way must be cut down!" But see, this is why I like her so much better in SB. It's just more honest and tries less to twist things around to make her into a typical princess type, instead of owning (at least a little more) the red emperor type she is.
Fuck, I have to defeat Flayn. She's healing people, not attacking, but I still have to take her out. If it was a side mission, I'd ignore it. Hubert mocks her like "is this the second coming of Saint Cethleann" - well, about that . . . .
Now Felix appeared :( It's also a main mission I can't ignore. At least it looks like he's retreating.
Only for Sylvain to show up, which isn't any better :( Fuck, he's claiming he's avenging Ingrid :(
OH FUCK. He actually died. Begging for forgiveness from Dimitri. SB is really the most bloody path :(
Dimitri sounded so upset. I really feel the like the villain. It's by far the route with the highest named character count killed (Rodrigue, Ingrid, Annette, Gilbert, Sylvain) AND my main goal is to kill Flayn because she's . . . healing people.
At least Flayn retreats. She makes Seteth promise to do the same :( (If I have to kill Seteth too, I swear to GOD).
Please let Dedue retreat :((((((
I also have to defeat Hilda :( Sad, but not big sad.
THANK FUCK. Dedue retreated. Dimitri sounded near tears.
Now I have to defeat Seteth too :( Thank God, he retreated. I think Hilda did too?
Now I have to defeat Dimitri and Claude. I am considerably more upset about the former. I wonder if they live or die.
I'm letting the other units fight Dimitri. I'm tired of killing him. I'll go kill Claude, which doesn't upset me much.
Lamo, Edelgard was like, go back to your people! Stop protecting the church - like, as if her plan isn't to take over Faerghus regardless? Dimitri smelled her bullshit at least.
If Claude retreated, does that mean Dimitri does too?
Ok, he retreated at least. Still Sylvain :(((
Ohhhhh, Byleth the final boss? Sothis has possessed Byleth though. But he seems along for the ride bc Byleth's pissed we killed Jeralt.
Shez vs Byleth cut scene again, except unlike in AG, Byleth is Sothis possessed and Shez is Shez, but then Shez goes demon mode too.
Shez is worn down, but wins bc Byleth stops glowing, so I think Byleth dies?
NARRATION
Yep, we killed Byleth. Shez feels empty about it though. And talks about this being a horrible mistake and wishes there was another way to solve this.
Funny how he only cares about Byleth and not all the other people who died (Sylvain, and tons and tons of people).
Arval feels freed though, from an old quest, and major relief, and starts crying.
So you have to either choose between Byleth dies, but Shez and Arval are on good terms, or Byleth lives and Arval and Shez aren't happy (I think, since he took Shez over in the special chapter, but I haven't played that in AG yet).
Ok, so this battle took me 26 minutes. AG took me 4, because Dimitri is just that absurd. He kills bosses so fast. Like before the dialogue finishes. It's just so absurd.
Edelgard is worried because Rhea and the knights weren't seen (or most of them), she's also under the impression Rhea would love a battle like this, but Rhea's never seen bloodthirsty? Vengeful, but not battle loving.
The main force will proceed with occupying Galatea :((((( That small bit of dialogue - knife to my heart.
No one even mentioned Sylvain :(

masterlist | heartbreak anniversary
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i miss you too.
he read the words again and again. pierre remembers the feeling of waking up to that text from you, the slither of hope that he felt extinguished all the pain in his chest. he remembers picking up his phone to call you, and it rings once before going straight to voicemail.
"hi, you've reached my voicemail! i'm probably taking a nap so... i'll call you back?"
that was a month ago.
now he was here, in spa, the last stop of the triple header this year. he walks into the red bull hospitality building, greeting the team members as he passes them. valencia spots him first, and she makes a beeline towards the frenchman.
"i've got your flowers, they're in the room."
"grazie," pierre thanks her, making his way up to his drivers room. when he opens the door, the first thing he spots is the bouquet laying on the table - brown paper encasing the white and pink chrysanthemums. his heart drops, knowing that the triple thread twine holding the flowers together was your signature.
"mon ange, we could really just go to a florist for this." pierre tells you as he watches from behind.
"tonio would appreciate this." you say, placing the flowers gently on top of each other.
you had the privilege of meeting anthione when you first started dating pierre, and you immediately hit it off with his childhood friend. the three of you had grown close over the course of a couple of months, and the accident had hit you and pierre equally hard. it was the first year without him, the first race back in spa, and you wanted to make something special for him; and you know flowers were the only way to show your love for the boy now.
pierre continues to watch as you arrange the flowers with care, wrapping them in brown paper, cutting up the three strands of twine to finish the bouquet. you put it in a jug of water to keep the flowers fresh, taking a step back to admire it.
pierre hugs you from behind, resting his head on your shoulder. he sighs softly, "yeah, he would."
his fingers touch the flowers gently, and pierre is almost sure that you were the one who put this together. but were you really here, in spa? he shakes the thought out of his head, he knows he can't be hanging on to that slither of hope this weekend. after the last two races that he underperformed in, he needed to focus.
there's a soft knock on the door just as pierre picks up the bouquet, and pyry sticks his head in the room.
"time for the track walk." pierre nods.
his friend looks at him sympathetically after recognising the bouquet. he holds the door open for him and pierre walks out, holding the bunch of flowers in his hand.
he walks quietly with the team, bouquet in one hand as they make their way down to the garage. he was clutching on to the stalks of flowers so tightly, trying his best to push all thoughts behind as he made his way down to the track. but he couldn't help it, he scanned the garage, the places you would usually stand while waiting for him; and you were no where to be found.
its as if suddenly pierre realised that you were really not there anymore.
his team decides to do the track walk on foot, and they make their way down - chatting about the previous race and following up with the new one. they come up right before eau rouge, and whatever strategy spoken before that long forgotten when pierre sees a silhouette he's all too familiar with, walking next to a tall frame that he knew was esteban.
"so coming right up here there aren't too many changes, just a couple-"
"sorry hang on-" pierre jogs forward but doesn't get too close as they arrive at the top of eau rouge. he watches from a distance as the girl in the blue dress squats down to place the flowers on the ground.
pink and white chrysanthemums.
"y/n?" pierre almost did not want to call out your name, in fear that he was just seeing things, hoping things. but the silhouette turns at the sound of his voice, and it was indeed you.
he jogs up the rest of the distance between the both of you, and there's a gentle smile on your face.
"hi there," you say softly. pierre doesn't speak, but he just watches you, his eyes fixated on yours. esteban looks between you and him, and he wants to say something, but decided against it, letting the pair take in the moment.
pierre scoffs, "hi? after all this time all you can manage is hi?"
esteban's eyes widen, and so do yours. you take a step back from him, eyeing the man up and down. esteban steps closer to you but you turn to him, letting him know it was okay.
"tu me manques aussi. i miss you too. you forgot about that?" he says flatly, completely ignoring the stares he's getting. you sigh, breaking eye contact with him as your eyes trail to some of the flowers that were already laid on the ground.
"let me talk to tonio first, we can talk about that later." you say, pushing past him as you knelt on the ground. and it's suddenly when pierre remembers that he's here to pay respects to anthione, so he steps back, knowing the importance of this moment to you. he laid his bouquet down, and he steps back before walking off. you look at both bouquets - almost identical to one another, and tears start to form in your eyes.
"grazie mille, y/n. i know this was very last minute. the boy didn't even tell me he hadn't gotten flowers until yesterday." valenica hugs you, holding the bouquet you just handed to her.
you knew in the moment that pierre would recognise your work immediately, but you still handed it to her, "its no big deal. least i could do after all these years."
esteban squeezes your shoulder, "i'm going to wait up front, join us when you're ready."
you nod, turning your attention back to the flowers.
"hi tonio," you sigh, bowing your head, "you've got two bouquets this year, lucky you huh?"
you laugh humourlessly, "i know, i know, if you were here, you would've nagged my ear off already. but i had to let him go, and i think you would've agreed with me," you run your fingers along the petals of the flowers, "hopefully."
"you know, there was a part of me that thought i could work it out. there was a small part of my heart that wanted to crawl back to him, to tell him i love him, that i forgive everything he did. but there's another part - a bigger part of me that knows i could never forget it." you sigh again, blowing a kiss to the flowers, "i love you and miss you tonio."
you stood up from the ground, joining esteban as you both made your way back to the pitlane. he shows you one of his tiktoks that he just curated while waiting, and you couldn't help but giggle. pierre hears your laughter fill the air first, before spotting you as you walked into the pits. he makes his way towards you, and your heart sinks.
"i'll see you later. call me if you need me." esteban whispers in your ear. when esteban leaves, pierre comes closer to you, his eyes never leaving yours.
"come to my room." he said in a low voice.
you tug at the lanyard around your neck, "i'm with alpine this weekend."
"then i'll come to yours." he said nonchalantly.
"arrête ça s'il te plait." stop this, please
"alors ne dis pas des choses que tu ne penses pas" then don't say things you don't mean.
"comment savez-vous que je ne le pensais pas?" how do you know i didn't mean it? you clap back, folding your arms in front of your chest. there's a pause, and you take it as your cue to walk off, but you hear him shout from behind,
"est-ce que tu m'aimes encore?" do you still love me?
you spin around, walking towards him furiously. he looks at you, his eyes empty and void of any more emotion. but the attention that you've gathered from the multiple teams around you made your blood boil.
you poke his chest, speaking through gritted teeth, "you don't get to say that when you're the one who cheated on me."
"but you miss me, no?"
you scoff, pulling him into the alpha tauri garage, away from prying eyes.
"yes pierre, i miss you. is that what you want to hear? is that what will make you happy?" you pretty much exploded in front of his team, but you couldn't care less. pierre is still staring at you and he wants to say something, but a person emerges in the corner of your eye, and for a moment you couldn't believe it.
the same fucking brunette.
you snap your head in her direction, and she's like a deer caught in headlights. pierre turns in the same direction, and the look in his eyes changes - was it fear? or disappointment? you couldn't really tell. but you knew you had to leave. you turn to him, for the last time.
"don't- don't fucking call me, text me or even attempt to talk to me anymore, pierre gasly."
"s'il te plait, mon ange." please, my angel. he grabs on to your arm, pulling you towards him. you try to squirm out of it, but he wouldn't let go.
"s'il te plait? you brought her here, mon amour. after all that we went through, it only took you three weeks before you brought a new girl to a race. and it's her, pierre. i know it's her."
"i- i couldn't- you didn't pick up the phone so-"
"so you brought her here? to the one race you know was of importance to the both of us? you ruined us, pierre. with your own bare hands, you ruined us. the poor girl didn't even do anything wrong and now you're parading her around like some arm candy, something to fill the void in your heart." every word you said was laced with venom, used as ammunition against the person you still loved.
"when did we get so bad pierre? what happened to us?"
pierre looks down on the floor, "i'm sorry, mon ange."
you sigh, knowing that going on isn't going to bring either of you anywhere.
"yeah pierre, i'm sorry too." your eyes meet the brunette's as you speak to pierre for the last time,
"i hope you treat her better, because god knows she deserves more than you ever gave me."

Not counting “must you continue to conquer in retaliation?”, what's your favorite Supreme Reply from Edelgard?
:)
I swear if I have the time, before the end of the year, I'll make a poll about it!
Anyways!
Supreme Replies are replies that demonstrate a several lack of awareness and thus, are utterly ridiculous (like the "no u" you've mentionned) and ultimately don't make any sense.
I found some in SB !
From SB's last chapter we have those :
Thales: Foolish harridan! This land you seek dominion over is drenched in the blood of beasts! Supreme Leader : Fool I may be, but I have plenty of company— my allies and I stand ready to trample you into the dust!
"wuzzat? Beasts ? Nah, I'll come back with a witty one-liner. "
Thales just revealed the plot/the secrets of Fodlan, but she dgaf.
Rhea You boast blood of the Hresvelgs and the heart of a traitor. Your sins run deeper than all others. Supreme Leader: I wear my sins proudly, for they are the reason I fight to free Fódlan from the goddess's so- called "judgment"!
"why is she always talking about Willy damn it. Let's give another witty comeback : I wear my sins proudly (wait does it means I'm proud to have slaughtered people to come here? Oh, I'll let Hubert deal with those details) for they are the reason i fight to free Fodlan from the Goddess's so called jugdment (wait does it make sense? I slaughter people because this slaughter is the reason why I fight? to free Fodlan from your ilk? Couldn't I have said I kill people to free Fodlan from you kin? Oh! I know, I could have said I kill people to liberate Fodlan, like my idol Nemesis! I'll have Hubert give a revamped script to Dorothea to add this line in the opera she's going to play in depicting this scene.)"
SB's chapter 4 :
Rhea : Explain yourself! Why do you betray the teachings of the goddess and seek to shatter Fódlan's fragile peace? Supreme Leader : Seeing as I have no idea what you speak of, this is going to be a short discussion. Now either stand aside or face me!
"Peace? What is that? Can I let Labrunda do the talking instead?"
(That's all for Nopes, but if you found some other replies, let me know!)
From FE16:
So you're another of the goddess's vanguard. You don't have even a shred of self-awareness, do you?
Okay, in itself, this isn't a Supreme Reply - but you realise that in the same map Petra calls herself "the will of the Emperor" forgetting her allegiance to Brigid and the current situation... who lacks self-awareness?
A special one that doesn't come from a Battle :
Claude There's only one goal for grave robbers like these. Right, Flame Emperor? You're here to steal the treasure that rests within the Holy Tomb. Flamey For a fool, you catch on quickly. Those Crest Stones will be ours. That infernal power, which is masquerading as a medicine but is truly a poison, will plague this world no longer.
She insults Claude who only asks a question, and the mumbo-jumbo about medicine and poison - but I want to disqualify it, because the mumbo-jumbo that would qualify as a Supreme Reply is a lolcalisation goof to avoid sheding more light as how Flamey actually wants to use those stones laying uselessly there "neither medicine or poison" aka who could either be used to do good things, or bad things.
of course when we know what they are, we know they are not "uselessly" laying there :)
-
Edit thanks to @ezralahm!
The barbarian : Do you not believe in the power of the people to join together and rise up? Humans are weak creatures. But they are also creatures who help each other, support each other, and together, find the right path. I have learned that humans are capable of all that from the professor...and from everyone in my life. Supreme Leader : I doubt a highborn person like yourself could know how the poor feel or what motivates them.
"Do you believe in the power of friendship? If everyone works together, we're able to support each other and find a path to happiness!"
"As if highborn person like you can know what the illiterate masses - I mean, the poor, feel. But I obviously know what they feel and want, because I am not a highbor- wait let me rephrase that - Oh, alright, shut it, agree to disagree and etc etc, let me get away with my dignity intact, thank you".
And :
Random Peon : Here...you can have this! Just please don't attack the city! Supreme Leader : I never planned to touch the city. Our target is the Alliance and their leader, Claude.
"Hubert, why can't they understand? I don't want to raze their city, I want to destroy their country and get rid of their Leader! It's not the same!
"Maybe that lowlife thinks we are going to destroy Derdriu just like we destroyed Garreg Mach when we invaded it?"
"Silly Hubert, why would that useless man think so?"
-
But we all know CF is where the majority of the Supreme Replies come from !
Here :
Rhea : You must know what a fool you are. The greatest of sins is to make an enemy of the goddess herself! Supreme Leader : I have only made an enemy of the church, not of the faith.
"Wait- did she call me a fool?"
Besides, we all know what Supreme Leader thinks of the faith (she even apparently changes her pov only after talking to Manu), so this is basically... talking to say nothing.
I prefer the SB version, tbh!
Then this (it doesn't really count though, since it's not a "reply"!)
Lysithea. How unfortunate that a talented woman like you should throw her life away on a pointless battle.
"I hope she won't hold it against me when I tell her defending her home and country is pointless."
That chapter we all know and love (i know, no "no u"!)
Rhea : An ancestor of the Hresvelgs, who became Adrestia's first emperor… He saved me. Supported me. Gave his all to the cause of defeating Nemesis. That I should find myself here at Tailtean, striking down his scion… Supreme Leader : I don't advise presumptions, Rhea. I will not die by your hand.
"Why the fuck is she still raving about Willy. I know, he was stupid and dumb and saved it instead of letting it die. I know all of that! Stupid Willy. Anyways, I'll just cut her saying something cool."
In itself, that line isn't material prime to be a Supreme Reply. However, by the time you reach this penultimate chapter, Supreme Leader's feelings about Nabateans have been made clear (either in her sekrit history talk, or in both of her and Hubert's supports), they are creatures incapable of having human feelings, and later on, she textually says they are beasts who don't give a fig about human lives.
So here, Rhea angsting about Willy contradicts what she thinks, a Nabatean can have "human" feelings like sadness and regrets. But instead on focusing on those, or even saying some stuff like "yeah sure you miss my stupid ancestor because he was a pawn you manipulated, beast!", she only focuses on the witty "i will not die here" part.
Supreme Leader : So it's true. You don't value human life at all. Isn't that right, Immaculate One? Rhea : Nonsense! Fools who do not accept their own sins are undeserving of salvation! You humans are the ones who betrayed! You betrayed me, and you betrayed my mother! Supreme Leader : I did not betray you or her. I never believed in you from the beginning.
(the never believed in "you" is a lolcalisation change? In the JP version, it feels like she is more general, and says she never believed in the beginning)
"Rhea : you betrayed me and my mother the goddess"
"Supreme Leader : your mother isn't real"
Again, when the opportunity presents itself to discover more about Fodlan and what Rhea means by betrayal - but more important is Supreme Leader's "I never believed from the beginning", like, what is even the link with the betrayal Rhea's raving about? When you betray someone, it's because that someone put their trust in you, right? So Rhea is saying she trusted humanity - Supreme Leader says in reply that she never believed in Rhea, but that's like trying to fit a circle in a square - where's the link?
"You betrayed me" "I never trusted you" "uh.. yes but I did? This is why I'm calling you a traitor? Because you spat on my trust?"
----
To be honest, I'd say I prefer the last one !
She centers the conversation on herself, dodges the implications of what her foe is saying, the line is nonsensical and wants to feel cool and we have the bonus "retcon" : she never believed in the CoS and its faith to begin with (when apparently she did in her support, she prayed when she was Solon'd?).
So I'd say, for the podium :
1 "Your mother isn't real"
2 "What is peace?"
3 "No U" / "I'm stupid but I have allies!"
What are yours anon?

Look sometimes you overflow with feelings and inflict them on your favorite characters so you don't have to feel everything by yourself.
--
Dorothea had just finished readying for bed when there came a knock at her door. She had been expecting this particular knock all evening, and so was not surprised to find Ferdinand looking sheepish in the hallway. Putting on a banal smile, Dorothea said, “Why, Ferdie! To what do I owe the pleasure?”
“Good evening, Dorothea. Um, could we speak?”
Dorothea stepped aside to let him through. Though she still didn’t feel quite settled into her rooms here in the Enbarr Palace just yet, she at least had a tea table and two chairs set by the bay windows. Said windows were dark now, with only a few scattered dots of torchlight outside, but Ferdinand still took a seat there expectantly. Dorothea sat across from him.
Without any preamble whatsoever, Ferdinand said, “How did you know I am— that I had feelings— that I felt that way about Hubert?”
“Oh my, how red your cheeks are! You’re just adorable, Ferdie.”
“Dorothea, please.” He looked away, pulling at his collar. “You said you had known for two years. Exactly what is it you noticed?”
Ever since their chat this morning during their usual garden walk, Dorothea had known this conversation was coming. Still— she made a show of running her fingers through her hair, trying to select a handful of incidents from the two or three dozen she had cataloged over the years that Ferdinand would find indisputable. Though a skilled fighter and an exemplary advisor to Emperor Edie, he did wear his heart on his sleeve a fair bit.
“Well,” she began after she felt her silence had tortured him long enough, “you treat him differently than the rest of the Eagles.”
“In what way?” He sounded almost offended.
“You talk about different things. You have private rituals together. Have you ever thought to invite me to one of your coffee and tea dates under the oak tree?”
Ferdinand shifted in his seat. “Those are not dates.” He countered. “And anyway, aside from Edelgard I have known Hubert the longest out of all of you. We share the task of keeping the Empire from ruin—it makes sense that we talk about ‘different things’ than I do with the other Eagles.”
“How about when you gave him that expensive coffee?”
“I give people gifts all the time. I recall making you cookies before we were even properly friends!”
“Yeah, but you weren’t half as nervous to give me the cookies as you were to give him the coffee.” When Ferdinand didn’t deny that, Dorothea chuckled. “How did it take you so long to figure this out for yourself? If you could see the way you look at him, Ferdie, it would have been obvious to you too.”
Ferdinand set his elbows on the table and covered his face with both hands, letting out a truly helpless-sounding groan. It was adorable to see him so flustered. Dorothea almost told him so again but held back. Instead she let her grin widen as Ferdinand peeked at her between his fingers.
“Do you think he knows? If I have been that obvious…”
“I don’t think so. When it comes to love, Hubie can be pretty clueless.”
“Thank the Goddess.” Ferdinand sat back in his chair. His face was impossibly redder. “The Horsebow Moon ball is in less than a month.”
Dorothea’s eyes narrowed. “Don’t try and change the subject.”
“That is not my intention. I only mean that the ball is the next social event Hubert and I are both required to attend. There is every chance that I will slip and reveal myself.” Ferdinand stood, a determination taking over his expression with the abruptness of cold water. “I shall have to redouble my efforts to move past my affections.”
“Redouble? Ferdie— Ferdinand!”
For he had started marching away towards the door. Jumping to her feet, Dorothea grabbed his arm. “What makes you think you have to get over Hubert?”
Ferdinand looked back, tone stiff as he stated, “It is not worth the risk. We work closely together. If I upset that balance—”
“You might not!” Dorothea put a hand to Ferdinand’s cheek, willing his face to soften again. “He might feel the same way! Or, at worse, you’ll have a few awkward conversations and be done with it. It’s not healthy to bury something like this. The Empire won’t collapse if Hubie finds out!”
“Perhaps not but…” Ferdinand turned his gaze from hers. “Knowing how I feel will put him in an awkward position. It has taken so long for us to get this comfortable with one another— suppose knowing how I feel puts distance between us? I cannot risk our friendship. I cannot put him through such unnecessary turmoil. I… I care about him too much to do that.”
Dorothea cupped his cheeks with both hands now, forcing Ferdinand’s eyes back to her own, prepared to make every argument against that. But she stopped when those copper eyes met hers. “Oh, Ferdie… You look heartbroken already.” Ferdinand stepped out of her grasp. Dorothea let him, chest tight in sympathy. “You know, you can’t put him through worse than anything that happened during the war,” Dorothea tried one last time.
Ferdinand shook his head. “These things pass. It’s not worth troubling him over. Good night, Dorothea. Thank you for the talk.”
Then Ferdinand stepped through the door, and disappeared into the palace hallways.
Frustration bubbled up alongside pity inside Dorothea. She strode forward to close and locked the door, far less amused than when she had first opened it. Flopping down on her bed, Dorothea let out a too-long sigh, letting her eyes slip shut. “He’s usually such a brave little bee,” she muttered into the stillness of her room.

Hey, so...
Does anyone remember this post I made recently?
.
.
.
I made some art for it...
If you wanna see it...
Here it is:
Tumblr media
I'M SO MAD AT MYSELF IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE SURVIVING THE MANSION BUT I DIDN'T REALIZE UNTIL AFTER I FINISHED IT AAAGGH
...Aside from that little oopsie, though, I'm actually really proud of how the logo came out? I based the font off a style called "Micro 5 Charted". Thank goodness I was using graph paper!
I'm not sure if that Kanji is correct; Google Translate doesn't seem to like the word "oni" or "stick", especially together, so I spelled out the Romanji in the English box and then tried to copy the characters Google offered me as closely as possible. I think I'd be more surprised if I got the Kanji correct, honestly.
Henry Stickmin title screens usually have two different fonts for the verb and the noun, and I thought about trying to make "Mansion" look like an actual house, but that made my brain hurt to much to conceptualize, so I stuck with different colored fonts. Hmm, that clock sure is there. I wonder what it means gets hit by a bus
-----
Anyway, here's some theoretical scenarios of what the main gameplay would look like! This one stars General Hubert Galeforce and some other guy:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Option 1: Shoot
Result: The monster hears you move as soon as you pull your gun from its holster. No time to defend yourself.
FAILURE (DiE!)
Option 2: Backup
Result: Your radio refuses to work, even though it was just fine before you entered the mansion. The monster waits until you've realized this, then goes for your throat.
FAILURE (No one will hear your screams...)
Option 3: Time Out
Result: The monster does not hear you and goes into a separate room, out of sight and out of mind. Galeforce survives... for now. But what was that thing...?
-----
I don't know how feasible it would be, but I imagine this would be a cross between typical RPG Maker-styled games (pixels, speech boxes with pictures of the characters, moving around a set floor plan, puzzle solving, etc) and typical Henry Stickmin-styled game play (cutscenes, choices, possible interactivity [grabbing items/bios], the occasional quick time event, etc) (voice acting would be a stretch). Most of the gameplay, like exploring the mansion, puzzle solving, and running/fighting the monster, would be RPG style, and then occasionally switch into a cutscene that requires you to make a choice; usually with just one correct answer but possibly others that could result in diverging dialogue/interaction/paths/endings? Something to think about.
Anyway, Galeforce! Poor man has no idea what he almost walked into, haha. I experimented with perspective and limb placement here, which was exhausting but also a lot of fun! Dynamics are hard with stick figures, but considering that they're they only character medium I've ever been decent at, I made it work.
And the Oni... I tried to give it some sort of anatomy, but quickly realized that I do not have the skills to pay those bills. I opted for a more of a shadowy figure looking thing with a big smile instead (you can see some of the lines where I tried to make it have arms, I think). I opted for Ao Oni's purple-y blue color scheme verses HetaOni's gray alien look. Back in the day of fan made Ao Oni games, people would usually try to put their own unique spin on the Oni sprite, with HetaOni's being the most unique I ever saw (keep in mind, it was one of the few designs I ever saw, so there might be cooler ones out there, who knows). In theory, a game called Sutikku Oni would use a stick figure shaped monster, but with my current art skills, that would just look like a normal stick person with a big head (look! Geoffrey Plumb's cousin!). I think the less we see, the better; all good horror games know when to leave things to the imagination!
-----
I also made a second one, featuring my boy Dave Panpa!
...Dave, I'm so sorry... *MAKES HIM PEEP THE HORROR*
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Option 1: Call for Help
Result: You call for help...
FAILURE (...but nobody came.)
Option 2: Run
Result: You tense your muscles in preparation to run. The monster is faster.
FAILURE (YoU... wOn'T... eScApE...!)
Option 3: Pretend to be a Piano
Result: Frozen with fear in front of the piano, it's all you can do to hope the monster thinks you're also a piano (a sopping wet piano, but still). It's deadly quiet. You can hardly breathe, and you're afraid to. The monster stares at you for an uncomfortably long time, before walking away, out of sight and out of mind. You stay still a little longer before collapsing to the ground. Dave Panpa survives... for now. How on Earth did that work? Or... did that thing let you live out of pity...?
-----
UGH the piano! Pianos are so hard to draw! Luckily, I had an almost head on reference that I was able to use for the first picture. For the above view shot, I had to do some wild guessing. The red stuff near Dave's head in the second picture is the red stuff he was referring to. Is it blood? Paint? Something else? Who knows! But as we all know, any self respecting Ao Oni fan game needs a piano puzzle!
I imagine Dave was dragged along for the ride when the Toppats decided to find the treasure of the mansion (or something to that degree), fully intending to leave him there to die if there was, in fact, a monster inside. Poor Dave... Maybe there could be an ending where amends are made? Or maybe not...
I mostly put the smile on the monster's shadow as a means of showing that, indeed, it is the monster, but now I'm wondering if the monster's mouth glows or something? Hot fires of Hell, delivered right to you! Can you beat the heat?
-----
Thank you all for coming to my fixation ramble that absolutely no one else except me finds interesting! Any thoughts before you go?
(A cricket chirps, then leaves because it's in the wrong conference room)
...Yeah, I figured.

How Will All This End?
Stephen Jay Morris
5/4/2024
©Scientific Morality
Ever hear of the expression, “a self-fulfilling prophecy?” What does that mean?  You can convince yourself that something negative will happen in the future; you can convince yourself by repeating it repeatedly. Does it usually happen? Well, if you believe in a supernatural belief system, you can make something happen by chanting for it. If you believe in logic, there’s a 50-50 chance that something you predict may happen by coincidence.
I know, I know—in the past I promised not to make any predictions. But America in the year 2024, is too juicy to pass up. Let’s just say, I’m only theorizing. Is that Kosher? OK! Let’s get to it.
Many self-created prophets want that Nostradamus statue on their living room mantel, above the fireplace. But most predictions fall flat on their face. What is America’s number one concern as it is shoved down our collective throats? The presidential election in November 2024. Let’s see. Before the primaries, both political parties declared their candidates for president.
That didn’t happen in 1968. The Democrats had three candidates running for president. RFK, Eugene McCarthy, and Hubert Humphrey. So did the Republican Party. Nelson Rockefeller, Ronny Reagan, and Dick Nixon. (Can you believe that Dick Nixon beat Ronny Reagan?) So, this not like 1968 at all.
Second of all, will there be riots at the Democratic convention in Chicago this summer? Same as in 1968—yes. Will there be any trouble? Not really. In 1968, there were dozens of protest groups, from the Civil Rights movement to the Black Panther Party. Also, from SDS to the Yippies. The City government consisted of Blue Dog Democrats. What are Blue Dog Democrats? Right wing Democrats. Yeah, there was such a thing! After all, Rockefeller was a Liberal Republican. The Mayor, Richard J. Daley, was a Red Neck conservative, and he loved the police force and the military.  Now, in 2024, the Chicago city council are mostly left-of-center Democrats. Nothing will happen on the streets of Chicago because the Liberals will negotiate with the protest leaders. And make deals with them. Unless police provocateurs or Israeli agents start some shit. But I highly doubt it.
So, what about the Republican Convention? In 1968, they had theirs in Miami Beach Florida. It’s funny; the Democrats had theirs at the same place in ‘72. There were riots there. Looking back, the so-called media always focused on the Democratic Convention. They loved it when the Left fought Liberals. People forget when the Republicans had a riot near their convention in ’68, Blacks rioted at Liberty City and the media blacked it out. (Pun intended.) In 1970, when White students at Kent State got shot, it was front page news. However, when Black students got shot by cops at Jackson State, that appeared on page 18 in the newspaper. So, when the GOP have their convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin this year, the media will downplay any demonstrations. If you still think the media is liberal, maybe you should go to your primary care provider and get tested for early-stage dementia.
Now, between Biden and Trump, who will win? Biden is senile and Trump is demented. A lot can happen before November. Biden could drop out of the race for an elderly illness. Or he could die of natural causes. Keep your eye on Kamala Harris. She might be our first female president. If Biden does survive, he will lose the race.
What about Trump? He could win, but he’d be very ineffectual sitting in a prison cell. Keep your eye on his vice-presidential choice. They might be our next president if Trump wins. It cracks me up how some of his sycophant followers portray him as some type of superhero. He must wear a girdle to keep that fat belly from falling on his dick! His arteries are so clogged with junk food, he might have a massive heart attack while sitting in the prison cafeteria. Plus, he has obvious signs of dementia; just listen to how he talks. I love how supporters of both candidates deny that their candidate has any illness. If Trump survives, he will barely win. The outcome may depend on which candidate dies first.
Now, about this talk over losing our democracy. We never had it! For decades, the Chuds have claimed that we are a Constitutional Republic. The Liberals say we are a Liberal Democracy. Who’s right? Who cares?! This two-party system will always be a two-party system. If we were a true Democracy, we would have 17 political parties—just like Israel. But no, we have this fake rivalry between left and right. “Democrats are for the working man.” No, they’re not. “The Republicans are for individualism and Jesus.” Really?
So, as for this ultimatum of either we elect Biden or we get fascism versus if you vote for Trump, you’ll be raptured and float up to heaven…Fuck off, please! Nothing is going to happen in November. Even if Trump is elected, America will survive. If Biden wins, America will survive.
It’s time for a new constitution! It’s time for a one world anarchy!
Whatever!

[Azure Moon-adjacent AU; multi-chapter; sad and also fluff; more characters/tags to be added as they appear]
This AU slapped me in the face yesterday and I have been able to think of nothing else until I started writing it, so I hope you all enjoy it!
Eventually, this fic will be ferdibert-heavy. It will also be sad sometimes, so be warned!
Link to the fic on AO3 will be in a reblog, or you can read it below!

He stood where he had been unmoving throughout the past hour: behind the casket, hands tightly gripping his arms behind his back, eyes fixed on the silent and unmoving body before him. He’d done his part, given a eulogy with stoic resolve and provided a false sense of normalcy to his friends as they wrestled with their own grief. But now, finally alone, he could let down his tough exterior and try to process Ferdinand’s passing.
He shifted forward, leaning over the casket. Someone had done their best to make the fallen general look as refined as possible in death, dressing him in fine armor and hiding his fatal wounds in the process. Great care had been taken with his hair, and it looked almost as radiant as always, if not for the way it had dulled over the last few days. The casket was otherwise filled with flowers, and heartfelt letters, and a small horse figurine—and none of it felt real.
Hubert touched Ferdinand’s graying face, letting his gloved fingers trace the spray of freckles across his cheeks. A week ago, those cheeks had flushed with laughter and that face had been bright with smiles. A week ago, Ferdinand had been full of life, sipping tea outdoors and finding obvious excuses to touch Hubert’s arm more than necessary as they chatted together.
Dozens of tired old cliches ran through his head—you’re gone too soon, this isn’t fair, why was it you and not me, please come back—and yet he didn’t have the energy to say any of it. Instead, he shut his eyes as tightly as he could and whispered, “I miss you.”
The stone room yawned cold and silent around him.
--
Hubert remained at his lonely vigil until long after night fell, and he only left Ferdinand’s side when he felt sure most of his well-meaning friends would be asleep. Any stragglers still awake would know better than to bother him as he slunk back toward his chambers, hiding his bloodshot eyes under cover of darkness.
On his way back to his room, he stopped briefly to look in on Edelgard. Even in the midst of the ache of grief, he would be unable to rest until he knew she was alright—but she was sleeping, soundly and safely, and a small part of him wished she was awake so he wouldn’t have to be alone with his feelings. Even so, he left her sleeping and returned to his chambers to get what rest he could.
Everything in his room was the same as he had left it that morning—books stacked neatly, letters and sealing wax tucked out of the way, bed carefully made. A tidy room was some small comfort to him, and the less clutter that surrounded him, the less likely he was to encounter memories when he didn’t expect them. He wasn’t a stranger to grief; he also knew some of the little ways he could help himself get through it.
And so everything was as tidy as he had left it this morning.
Everything was the same, except now Ferdinand was there.
Hubert drew in a slow, deep breath, then closed his eyes for a few moments. When he opened them again, Ferdinand was still there, perched on top of his desk as if he belonged nowhere else, and certainly not gently rotting in a casket on the other side of the castle. Although this apparition looked like Ferdinand, it also sported four massive, white, feathery wings and a faint yellow-orange glow that seemed to emanate from somewhere within its body. It was wearing nothing more than what looked like a long, white skirt, and its hair floated ethereally around it.
“I need to go to sleep,” said Hubert, shaking his head and turning away from the Ferdinand-shaped thing on his desk.
“You are not seeing things,” said the Ferdinand-creature with a laugh, and the voice jolted Hubert back to attention once again.
“I don’t know what you are,” he snarled, moving closer and drawing himself up to his tallest and most threatening height, “but using the voice and form of a dead person to get to the living is wildly cruel, even by my standards.”
The creature tilted its head and gave a sad smile. “I am not trying to hurt you,” it said. “I am really Ferdinand. I suppose I died—”
“You suppose?” Hubert snorted. “Ferdinand fell in battle at Myrddin four days ago. His body is over in the visitation room right now, dead and cold. You are not him.”
“Oh, yes, that makes sense,” said the creature, hopping down off the desk and turning to look over one shoulder. “I have a large wound, you see? I was wondering what it had come from.”
Hubert—against his better judgment—craned his neck to look at the supposed wound. There it was, bright red against the glowing warmth of the creature’s exposed freckled skin, positioned just in the middle of where the four wings sprouted from its back.
Just where Ferdinand’s fatal wound had been located.
Hubert frowned. “What are you, really?” he said.
The creature looked sidelong up at one of its wings and said, “I am an angel, I think.”
“Ridiculous.”
“I thought so too!” A laugh; then, “I was unsure where I was or what was happening, but I was surrounded by sparks of light. They danced around me and told me that I was going to become a guardian angel. Of course, I thought I was simply having a dream, but then I awoke and I was here—like this!”
“In my bedroom.”
“Yes! And Hubie—”
“Don’t call me that.”
“—I believe that I am in fact your guardian angel.” The creature—Ferdinand—grabbed Hubert’s hand happily and added, “If I must be dead, I suppose this is not so bad!”
None of this made any sense, and Hubert wasn’t about to believe it. He didn’t even believe in angels, and certainly not guardian angels. Nor did he believe that a man four days dead was suddenly alive (more or less) and standing in his room with him. But the warmth of Ferdinand’s physical contact was real, and it was as electrifying as every stray touch they had shared over coffee and tea in the garden. Tears sprang to Hubert’s eyes before he could stop them. “You feel like him,” he said, low and drained.
“Please do not cry, Hubie,” said Ferdinand, giving his hand a squeeze. “Oh, I am so sorry.”
Hubert met Ferdinand’s gaze. All the life and energy and merriment that made up Ferdinand von Aegir still settled behind those big brown eyes, and it was impossible not to believe what he was saying.
But grief could be powerful, and it could do strange things to a person. Exhaustion, on top of it, was even worse. Hubert removed his hand from Ferdinand’s grip (and oh, how he didn’t want to do it) before stepping toward his bed. “I am very tired,” he said, “and my heart is broken besides. I need to rest, and I believe you will be long gone in the morning, although I am grateful to have seen you tonight.”
“I will be here,” said Ferdinand, throwing himself—massive wings and all—into an armchair on the far side of the room. “This is where I am meant to be, and I am not going to leave.”
Hubert shook his head, ignored the creature’s words, and got ready for bed.

I’m going to be real with y’all. I don’t know shit about what goes on F1 Twitter these days because I decided to peace out of that awhile ago.
But I just now fucking learned of the fucking audacity of these pitstop podcast mf’ers.
And you must be fucking joking me.
I am so fucking tired of men getting a free pass to be ignorant and misogynist about sports and women are always tested as fans of sport. Women constantly made to prove they “know” the sport.
The fact that THESE are the people that get attention and invites to F1 things while people think women watch their sport for looks.
Who insult F2 IN FRONT OF A DRIVER THAT NEARLY DIED IN F2 AND LOST A FRIEND IN THE SAME INCIDENT? They’re garbage, trash, no one should pay any attention to them. The blatant disrespect to Juan Manuel Correa to his face? Absolutely fucking not. And Antoine Hubert’s F2 teammate was Tatiana Calderon.
Anyone who bothered to do TWO SECONDS of research would know what happened to Juan and Antoine and have some semblance of human decency. They should be ashamed.
How stupid are they that they think women would watch hours of content for hot men in HELMETS.
I am so fucking tired of men thinking women only watch sports for hot guys. I’m sorry no man is that attractive that I’m going to learn a whole damn sport for him.
Women control so much buying and viewing power on sports these days, that if collectively we all decided to stop giving them views and money? Let’s see how long it would last.
Male sports, but in this case specifically F1, are so fucking ignorant of things that could actually grow and expand their sport that they will drive their sports into the ground.
If you don’t think I would drop F1 for a female pro series that was given equal funding and coverage? You’re absolutely wrong.
Stop giving garbage white men a platform. And don’t give them a second chance.

An Analysis on my Favorite Ship of all time. (It's Edelclaude. Duh.)
Let's think a little about this relationship, shall we? But first, we need to establish who the two of them are before we can go deeper into what they could have been.
Let's start with Edelgard. Here's what I think of Edelgard: She's an impossibly determined individual. Think about it- No matter what choice Byleth/Shez makes, nothing can make her leave her ideals behind. It would take nothing more than death to stop her, and I suspect that would hold true even if she lost everything- She would build up her own army, without the support of the empire, seeking like-minded individuals across Fodlan. However, despite how dedicated she seems to waging war, she's still an incredibly caring and even trusting person, which is what leads to her so often disagreeing with Hubert's murder attempts. For example: Despite all the red flags that Shez shows, she continually lets them keep their high-standing rank. This is a decision Hubert majorly disagrees with, yet she repeatedly reaffirms her trust in them, and, fortunately for her, Shez is The Protagonist, and therefore does not betray her. She's also quite the excellent judge of character. She's able to peg Claude for being smarter than he acts pretty quickly. But she is quick to judge if somebody is too dedicated to the Church or the Noblility system. She appreciates hard work, and people who are willing to choose an ideal and stick by it. Edelgard is very sure in her identity, except for how she's an optimist trying to be a pessimist. Now, here's something that I think some people may disagree with- Edelgard is terrible at seeing consequences. That's a pretty wild thing to say, but hear me out- While all her talk of permanently removing the crest system is big, and she does have plans to do it, she doesn't seem to realize that: A. Waging a war won't make her very popular, and will thus make people- Even smart and understanding ones- less likely to listen to her; B. Forcefully imposing her changes won't last very long, as the moment somebody who doesn't agree with them comes into power, they'll just change them to fit their ideals in such a way that they can't be changed back; C. Destroying the Church of Seiros cuts off a massive source of supplies for a massive chunk of the continent, and alienates all of the believers who may have potentially supported her; D. Denouncing the Church of Seiros also counts as denouncing all the good they do, meaning orphanages, refugees, and much more. She actively sabotages her own war and ideals without realizing, and doesn't realize because the full scope of the consequences never cross her mind. Her whole spiel about 'the deaths will be worth it in the end' is a perfect example of that- What if she fails? What happens then?
Now for Claude. Here's what I think of Claude: Paranoid. Incredibly paranoid. But people already know that- It's a pretty obvious fact about him, and one of the first things we learn about him. So, let's go a bit more in-depth. Claude is ambitious. He sees powerful opponents and society's views as obstacles to overcome, but his morals can be offset by seeing people as obstacles as well. Speaking of Morals, Claude isn't as steadfast in his morals than most people think. While he sees killing as something that should only really be done when necessary, that idea is worn down over the course of the war, but only if Byleth isn't present. Do remember, Shez isn't quite the beacon of morality and perfect support that Byleth is. Claude is also a fantastic judge of character- Even better than Edelgard, in my opinion. For example, he sees the potential in Hilda despite her rampant racism, though he does sometimes make assumptions based on preconceptions, like when he assumes Cyril knows his true identity. Claude, unlike Edelgard, is uncomfortable in his identity, and similarly enough, is a pessimist trying to be a realist.
All that to say this: Claude and Edelgard go very well together, encourage each other's positive traits, and help to reduce their negative traits. Edelgard is a trusting individual. Claude is not. She would either allow him- or force him- to open up to more people than he normally would. Claude, meanwhile, would help to keep Edelgard's morals in check. In all of the routes Byleth is not present to keep her in check, Edelgard's morals degrade- But none as much as Azure Moon, where Edelgard's greatest rival, aka Dimitri, claims Byleth for his class. In the long-term, she ends up allowing more Agarthan assistance into her army and the Empire, and doing more morally-dubious things. Essentially, without the help of a steady hand, she'll slowly degrade in morality. Now, before, I mentioned that Claude's morality would degrade similarly- However, that wasn't all of it. In Golden Wildfire, when everyone tells him off for letting Randolph die, he immediately thanks them all for letting him know, and tries to correct his behavior. So long as he has somebody to let him know, he'll try his hardest to keep hold of his morals- And Edelgard is the perfect benchmark. Any time she'd make a morally dubious action, he'd be there to correct her. As for ambitions and ideals- Both of them are surprisingly similar in that regard! Claude is much more focused on the specifics, while on the other hand, Edelgard is a much more wide thinker. He sees the trees, she sees the forest. He helps her see the consequences in every act. Also they understand and help each other heal from their traumas :) I have more to say but this is already long enough, and I think I got most of my point across: Edelclaude is great.
