painting and drawing! lately I fell back in love in traditional art and I picked up acrylic painting, and I'm watching a lot of videos and learning a lot - by my own trial and error too, but it's fun!

miguel o'hara x reader/oc fic recs

really wanted to put together a list of my fav miguel x reader/oc fics, these updates have been keeping me going and i enjoy them so much...will include the tags that i think are important but do check them out to view all tags and warnings!

For the Archives by alkhale tags: disaggreeable coworkers to lovers, fluff & angst, slow burn, spider-man typical humor, pining, pre-canon, oblivious reader, unrequited love (for now) remarks: i would be lying if i said this wasn't my absolute favorite. i think someone said this in the comments, but it's unstoppable force meets immovable object dynamic excellence. this is a miguel x reader fic, but i kinda view them as an oc bc they're so well written and i love them so much. like they're so endearingly written and i want the best for them dhfjksdhfjk....idk if that makes sense but this is just how my reading experience has turned out. the slow burn and pining is so so good, albeit the feelings one-sided and still subtle at the moment. but make no mistake, the subtle actions that show those feelings are written so so well it could kill a person (me, it killed me). the foreshadowing is also so interesting. each chapter just leaves you wanting for more. and lyla is also very fun in this!

put down that gravestone by danysclouds tags: mutual pining, canon divergence, married but not really married, grief/mourning, angst and hurt/comfort, parallel universes, really smart idiots in love remarks: if you're looking for a chaptered miguel x original character fic with plot, look no further. this fic explores love and grief across parallel universes, and how a miguel and xiomara from different earths find each other in a less than ideal situation. how do you even begin to process meeting a variant of your other half from another universe? there's a lot of sorrow in their story, and the writing leaves no details out in describing what loss feels like. but ultimately they're together again, so somehow, they'll be okay again. the story leaves you with hopes like this. i can't sufficiently express just how good this fic, is so please read it.

Every You Every Me by Astroboots tags: slow burn, parallel universes, mutual pining, forced proximity remarks: this fic has drove me insane in the best ways possible. a miguel x reader fic that's an absolute joy to read, but also hits you with sadness when you least expect it. reader is written so well and when paired up with miguel, creates a great dynamic that is so fun to read. i really love the slow reveal of the story in the first few chapters, i was slow to piece it together but when you realize what their circumstances actually are and why miguel is the way that he is in this, it's kinda thrilling! but also sad so watch out.

One Bad Day by puppyteeth tags: enemies to friends to lovers (the enemies part is brief), reader as a spider-person, slow burn, angst, fluff, hurt/comfort, gender-neutral pronouns remarks: i love reading miguel x reader/oc fics where MC is a spider-person, there are so many interesting origin stories out there and this is one of them. and it's not just the MC, but also the peter parker of their earth. it has a writing style that i would describe as fun and a joy to read. i really like the dynamic between miguel and reader and their developing relationship has been so satisfying to read.

Weedkiller by brotherblaze tags: mutual pining, friends to lovers, emotional hurt/comfort, blood and gore, sexual tension remarks: it's not tagged but reader is an anti-venom symbiote, after looking it up it gave more context to their abilities! i loved that miguel and reader are already friends in this, and lyla also has a lot of dialogue + is close to MC. i have to mention a part i really enjoyed though, like i actually yelled and felt happiness bloom in my heart at this character's appearance. they appear in chapter 3 and i was honestly so surprised that they were a part of the story too. i didn't read the character tags so i had no idea! it was a pleasant surprise, and i'm so happy the writer included them in this bc it's so rare. it's not even that i love this character, i actually don't know much about them besides their relation to an existing character, but their dynamic is lovely and wholesome, so i love them in this haha...please read this!!

MAC MY FRIEND MAC GHOSTIEZONE!!! my top fav passages i've written this year.... this is gonna take a while to answer i have so so many to choose from omg.... i'm gonna put this under a cut bc it is going 2 be Long (also i am going 2 tag u because idk if u have seen it yet and i v much want u to see the dstuck passage i'm posting it's got wilbur in it :3 @stuck-in-the-ghost-zone )

3: this one is from my ctubbo oneshot titled Harlequin that i wrote on impulse in early september. mac idk if u have read it but u should i think u would like it :3 the style of it is v experimental in a lot of places but i had SOOOOO MUCH FUN writing it and it's kinda angsty but the ending is sweet and i reread it and was like ;-; this fic was very much me projecting onto ctubbo OK HERE'S A QUICK PASSAGE :3

Tommy is your brother, you think, but not in the way he and Wilbur are brothers. They’re brothers in general, two different souls who experienced such different walks of life and stick together regardless, who follow each other to the ends of the earth no matter how wrong or bad one of them thinks the other is.

You and Tommy are more like... kindred spirits. Brothers in war, allies in politics, victims of abuse who pull each other up by your boot straps and lean on each other so you can keep going side by side.

It’s never just Tommy, or just Tubbo. It’s always Tommy and Tubbo.

2: MY VASHWOOD FIC Just As Beautiful As The Day I Lost You MY BELOVED <3 ughhhh writing this was so sad i genuinely cried doing it. the moment wolfwood remembers vash is what gets me. ik you've read it already but here's that one little passage here for u just for funzies <3 NOW CRY!!!!!!

The video stops.

Vash snaps his gaze to Rosewood. He’s trembling like a wet cat, hand poised over the spacebar. His breath hitches once, twice. He turns to Vash, slowly, just as tears begin to spill down his cheeks.

“What the hell, Needle Noggin,” he whispers. “What the fuck are you doing to me?”

Uncertainty is the only thing Vash can respond with. He steps closer, hand hovering over Rosewood’s shoulder. “I... don’t...”

Rosewood pushes the chair back, wooden legs scraping across the floor, doubles over, and buries his face in his hands. Vash takes that as a signal to do something, so he rests his hand on Rosewood’s back. After the comfort Rosewood gave him last night, it’s the least he can do, really.

Rosewood chokes back a sob. “I shouldn’t know these people,” he says, voice thick with tears. “How... do I know them? How do I know you?”

Vash’s heart leaps into his throat. He kneels in front of the chair so he’s level with Rosewood. “Do... Do you...”

Rosewood looks up, an angry furrow in his brow, even he wipes tears from his eyes. The expression is so incredibly Wolfwood that Vash doesn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

“This past week has been fucking torture, Spikey. You—I saw you leave church last Sunday, and I didn’t even see any of this,” he gestures to Vash in general, the spikey hair, the glasses, the scars, “but you just—you stuck in my head and I couldn’t explain why. I... I still can’t.” He gives a wet laugh. “Humanoid Typhoon my ass. You’re more like a parasite.”

A lump forms in Vash’s throat, alongside something so bright and hopeful he feels dizzy with it. Hands shaking, unsteady like they’ve never been before, he reaches out, fingers brushing over Rosewood’s jaw. He wipes away a stray tear, stubble sharp beneath his thumb.

Rosewood sniffles, shakes his head. “Don’t look at me like that, Needle Noggin. I can’t take it when you smile like that.”

Vash swallows. As quiet as can be, barely any breath behind his voice, he says

“Wolfwood?”

A sob rips itself from the throat of the man in front of him. Vash catches him as he lunges from his chair and into Vash’s arms, heaving cries pressed into his shirt. Vash holds him tight, hands clenched in his jacket. The black poncho remains on Vash’s lap, pressed between them. A stray tear soaks into the fabric. It takes Vash a moment to realize it fell from his own face.

He's never been so uncertain in his life.

But whatever this is, whatever he’s awakened in the priest in his arms, whether it’s real or a delusion, he wants to keep it.

He tucks his face into the crook between a neck and a shoulder, and he cries.

1: i think my fav thing i've written this year would be the tntduo chapter of dstuck that i sent you a while ago BUT since u have already read that and it's wayyyy too long to put in one post i am going to choose a different dstuck thing. most of the passages i wanna put here would involve MAJOR SPOILERS but i have one chatlog between wilbur and one of the cherubs i'm putting in there to kind of sort of replace cdream (i don't like ccdrm but his character is Important so i basically split him in two as a cherub and changed his name). honestly it was kind of a hard decision to change his name bc he's such an iconic villain but i think i did ok with still capturing his Evilness and his shitty asshole vibes ANYWAY this is one of my fav parts of this chapter i love writing chatlogs <3 tw for ummm some brief suicidal ideation bc it's cwilbur that's how it goes

hi wilbur! IO: Ah fuck, what do you want? can’t i just say hi and see how you’re doing? IO: I mean, I can’t stop you, I guess. you’re getting closer and closer to entering this game. isn’t that exciting? IO: Sure. you don’t sound excited. :( IO: What do you mean? This is the picture of excitement. IO: Look at me, I’m jumping up and down with joy at the prospect. liar. IO: Fuck you. hey, now don’t be rude! we’re friends, aren’t we wilbur? IO: We were, yeah. IO: When I was like, twelve. IO: But you started bad mouthing my bro and the rebellion and being all shitty and manipulative, and I literally tried to kms whben I was fourteen because of the shit you’ve said so like IO: No I wouldn’t say we;re friends. but we’re past that! i’ve changed, wilbur. IO: Yeah yeah so you keep fucking saying. if we’re not friends, why do you keep responding? IO: Because you’ll keep fucking bothering me until I do it's just because i want to talk to you. is that really so wrong? IO: Yeah IO: I know the shit that you did to my bro and I don’t fucking much appreciate it that was ages ago! come on, wilbur. you’ll get me out of here, won’t you? IO: If I could kill you I would. man, tough crowd. i think you’ll come around eventually. and even when i do get out of here without your help, your bro is the first one i’ll go for. i’m sure you know this, because it happened in your past. and then i’ll go for the little one. your pen pal. :) he is your bro, after all, and yeah, maybe the older one will slip through my fingers, but your pen pal? he's still young. your bro will get away from me when we’re both older, but your pen pal won’t defeat me while he’s just a kid, and i’m a GOD. :)

He used to be nice, but you think it’s just because he wanted to be your friend. Or, at least, pretend to be your friend. He filled you in on a lot of information about your future and the game, about your upcoming journey as a Bard of Heart, how destructive the class is, how you’re fated to destroy everything you’ve ever held dear and harm the people you love, the nuances of your aspect, the role you’re meant to play in this game.

He called you a supernova in the making, a nuclear bomb waiting to go off, a personified Chernobyl in your own right. It sounded kind of cool at the time, but it placed this heavy weight on your shoulders, this expectation for destruction.

You’re pretty sure he lied about most of the stuff he’s told you, but you can never be sure. You’re set on relying on Phil’s foresight to tell you your role now, although he doesn’t have all the answers. Still, it’s better than running in blind with your only guidance being the ravings of a madman from the distant future. He used to be so kind, it was hard not to believe him.

He wasn’t so kind when you had a sword at your own chest.

Tag Game for Historical Simblrs!

1. What has been your favorite time period to play in or which one are you most excited for?

The 20s because it’s so soon, but mostly the 50s-70s.

2. Do you have a favorite piece of historical cc? (CAS or BB)

Very very hard to choose but these two hairs have to be at the top of my list

3. Who is your favorite sim currently?

Edmund! you wouldn’t think so bc I’m putting him through a lot rn but I truly adore him and I’m excited for what’s to come in his future 🤞🏽🤞🏽... Rosalyn is a very close second

4. What is your favorite world?

Windenburg at the moment.. so many lots ❤❤ Even though she’s irritating me bc I’ve been stuck there so long I can’t wait to get out Otherwise, I’d choose San Myshuno or Brindleton Bay.

5. Are you more gameplay or story focused?

Once upon a time it was both but recently I haven’t had much time to play :(( so story driven it is

6. Do you like to play with pets in your historical saves?

Yes and no. They’re cute but forgettable. This gen was actually supposed to have three dogs bc they had the vibe of a three dog family, but it felt like a hastle with how many babies they keep birthing

7. What’s your biggest immersion breaking pet peeve with the game?

The constant phones, checking on toddlers/infants, and the endless townies i have to delete -- although I’m sure there are mods out there

8. What’s your favorite in-game historical item? (CAS or BB)

From the frames to the paintings I love em all

9. What would you like to see as a new pack or asset to the game?

Not too historic but bands. Playable saxaphones, flutes, drums I need it

10. What pack do you think is invaluable as a historical simmer?

Idk what I’d do without Cottage Living or Get Together/Cats and Dogs (for the worlds)

11. Do you have a favorite mod to enhance historical gameplay?

No fireplace fires!! bc the 1890s was hell omflgjf The timeless mod is also mwah

12. What’s your ideal family size for playing?

However many members the story insists :’)) I really enjoyed gen 1 with only 5 family members. I was forced to play with 9 up until the lung came around - which is the biggest it will ever be bc never again

13. Do you use poses?

Heinously.

14. Do you use any overrides in your game?

Yess, a few for homework, brooms, vaccums, books (my fav), mops etc etc

15. Do you, or did you, play off-the-grid during your game?

Never.

16. What lifespan do you play on?

Long with a few fixes.

17. What inspired you to start playing a historically?

My sister and I were talking about how much we wanted a good black period drama and that led into us into talking about the lack of black history shows/series set before the 80s. I was also watching some older movies at the time while going through one of my sims phases, leading me to historical cc, simblr, and thus the decades challenge. it’s now consumed a year of my life 👩🏽‍💻

if you don't or / and would love to watch some, then, he would do it with you <3 and he would make you understand the story if you don't really understand and which characters are villains or heroes

he would drive with his car (or ty's car lol... JUST KIDDING.. or not) and put anime opening music in the background

ratan would probably talk about animes all along the drive

he love how he can truly be himself at that place and that he can live this amazing moment at one of his fav place with one of his fav person in the world <3 (thats you babe)

2022 End of the Year Fic Review

The wonderful @underragingwaves tagged me, thank you love! (I put the longest part under a cut)

1. What is your AO3 account? for the vikings fandom it's my pseud vikingstrash.

2. How many words did you write total in 2022? 117.233 *whistles* not too bad if one considers what a year it's been.

3. How many fics did you publish in 2022? How many multichapters vs oneshots? 39 one shots and 2 multichapter. All Hail the One-shots!

4. What was your longest fic? Your shortest fic? Longest was Kings of Kattegat with 39,878 words and the shortest Story as old as Time with 119 words.

5. What was your most popular fic? Your least popular fic? Most popular (going by subscriptions, hits, comments, kudos and bookmarks) has to be my VBB entry Kings of Kattegat. Personally, the most self-indulgent fic I ever wrote.

Least popular is Sweat. I guess it would be a lot more popular if it wasn't hidden behind the AO3 log in. And also if it had full on smut and not just teasing, but oh well, I like it and in the end, that's all that matters xD

6. What fic didn’t perform as well as you thought it would? Huh, that's a weird thing to think of, I never really give it much thought if my writing is going to be popular or not so that thought of a fic not "perfoming well" is kinda...absurd to me. Anyway, if I had to take a guess, I'd say Greedy Gods? While it does have a lot of hits and a couple kudos, it's weird to me that for a fandom with so many people claiming they want more fic about the female characters and how much they love Aslaug, there was not as much love for it as I would assume. Must be a me-problem.

7. What fic performed way better than you thought it would? Basically anything I wrote for D. P. - Deserter Pursuit. I didn't think there would be enough people in said fandom to read, kudo and comment, but was positively surprised.

8. What was your favorite fic you wrote from 2022? For Vikings: Valhalla, Daughter of the Fearless. I loved giving Altöra more background story and this glimpse of her relationship to Freydis. It was fun to write.

For Vikings, Strung up, Tongue-Tied. I mean....sub!Hvitserk restrained and dom!Amma playing with him? Ubbe observing, just being present without doing anything besides kissing Amma? Yeah, I loved that one. It's full of tension.

For D. P. - Deserter Pursuit, Pity. My dumb ass actually made it a published WIP because there was more to tell and I liked it a lot. Only the Gods know if I will actually write more though xD

9. What was your favorite fic that somebody else wrote in 2022? Well, for someone who couldn't be paid to read other people's fics, I managed to read quite a lot in 2022 for free. Mind boggling, I know. But here go my favs:

Gotta start with Not A Fairytale by underragingwaves, because...have you read that fic? It's really a fun read (for those who like crime stuff which is basically exactly what I love) and promising a bigger universe underneath that small treat she wrote.

Will totally never stop making hearteyes at Twice Now by ritual-unions. Love how Kara (heh) is so clumsy and unable to function in the real world and the way Ubbe basically just watches and smiles to himself, before his eye-roll moment that will make him intervene. I also love myself some good hurt and gosh, this is gonna hurt so damn bad at the end and I will love every second of it.

There were a couple to pick from and it was hard to choose, but when someone can make me read an Ivar fic, then it says a lot about that persons writing skill. The Mental Tyrant by grimeundglow deserves so much more love than it has been given.

Reactions Of Your Kind by Ulfrsmal was my fav of him in 2022, but only because I didn't really get to read the rest of his fics xD I'm sure there are more gems in his list, but this one stood out to me because...Hvitty and Ubbe 🥺

A Prize of Battle by Mercurygray, is absolute Emma/Canute goodness and Idk what else to say, because this womans writing skills are beyond anything I could muster, so hearteyes from afar will have to do for now.

For Mince Pie by emma-ofnormandy, another author that captures Emma and Canute's relationship so well and it's so fluffy, I wanna hold it really tightly against my chest.

And last but not least The Queen of Kattegat by northernxstories! I will remain deeply impressed by how effortlessly she managed to pull me into her story and made me read it in one go, even though it's 12k of words xD It was such a new way of approaching the characters and it's brilliantly written. An absolute treat in 2022.

Hii I want to read more poetry but I don't really know where to start bc I don't really know much about poetry or really like how to read it (like in order to /really/ read it and like get all the meaning and stuff akdnsjks if that makes sense) so I was wondering if you could tell me like your favorite poems or maybe like some you like that are more accessible to ppl who are less acquainted w poetry? Idk sorry if this is a big ask idk I also just wanna know your favorite poems haha

wah !! ok so some of those i found in anthologies in my school library and others i've found online. uh poetryfoundation.org is a wonderful website and they have a poem of the day! so when i remember i'll go and read that, and there's pieces of writing and essays on there too. but the poetry is so fun gjkfjfgk

i think a lot of school-type poetry is old and can be super interesting if you have the right teacher! idk do americans study poetry..... i guess u wouldn't do english poets anyway. uh .sidetracked. !! my english teachers rn are so fabulous and the poems we're studying are so so fun like.. currently looking at robert browning. if u looked him up u wouldn't think its fun but genuinely. his poems are amazing. BUT i wouldn't recommend getting into poetry w old poets. like shakespeare/browning etc. the language can be tricky so i'll rec poets that are more ,, recent? so mary oliver is a classic fave. ocean vyong, richard siken and rupi kaur have really distinct styles and from that u can see what kind of poetry u like reading + what themes make ur brain get excited gjkfjfgkdfj.

(i also have a literature folder on my phone to keep poems i don't class as faves. but they're just fun 2 keep)

about meaning!! bc i don't think ive covered that. some poems are easy to unpick meaning. u don't need to know abt rhyme rhythm and stuff for understanding but it can be fun. as like an oh moment of "this war poem is a sonnet, a traditional love poem. what could this mean !!" and other fun stuff like that. some poems say it like it is. wild geese by mary oliver is like that, the patience of ordinary things as well. but not all poems are easy to understand at first read ! or u understand it at first but realise there's more layers after a while. also sometimes i just google stuff if i dont know whats goin on im gna be honest

✏️—The first fan fiction you ever wrote? (doesn’t have to be a posted fic)

Honestly this one’s hard to pin down. There’s stuff that counts as fanfic from when I was in like preschool kindergarten era with like Winnie the Pooh and superhero stories, but when it comes to like… actually consciously writing fanfic that I knew was fic, it was probably two instances. One was a Danganronpa semi self insert that I wrote in my notes app n have now deleted (which I wish I didn’t bc it was terrible n I wanna look back on it now), and a similar ish Tiger n Bunny one w a hero insert (tho that one didn’t get as far). Both were very bad but good for me for starting somewhere, you’ve grown baby me!!

👽—Strangest fic you’ve ever written?

Idk if it counts as fic bc it was technically original but I typed something out to a friend over Instagram when red velvets Zimzalabim came out n Area 51 memes were happening, n it was ab a guard on duty witnessing a huge crowd naruto running and singing that as they approached the base. If that’s counted as more original, thennn hmmmm Well my first published work is a collection of (once again) danganronpa poems so probably that. (Also sry DR fans if this is in ur tag I can’t control tumblr)

🌈—Your favorite tropes to write about?

I love angst and hurt/comfort, and characters finding the small details to love ab each other. Tropes I haven’t written often that I want to do more are time travel/loops, mistaken identity, fake dating or being a couple for cover, and monsters (in general).

📬—The best comment you’ve ever received?

This is so hard bc I’ve gotten some rlly sweet ones over the years, but any that like… have the person talking ab how a fic hit for them rlly hard personally and that they reread it, or just rlly going in depth on details they noticed and loved. I got a really cool person who went chapter by chapter on my commander fic and left lovely comments on each one, n I got a REALLLYYYY nice one on my recent wwbn fic I still have to respond to that pointed out a ton of things I rlly wanted ppl to notice n just aghHh!! I love comments sm, they mean a lot to me n I couldn’t choose a fav bc ppl r so often so sweet. Those instances come to mind tho :-)

🥚—Any Easter eggs you put on a fic that you hoped people would notice?

Yeah! N usually in more snapshotty ones. In somewhere over the sun there’s a moment mentioned where Crawley pats Steven’s shoulder n leaves a smear of paint, which was meant to represent the passing of love and comradery onto him with the color themes I’d been keeping up throughout the story, and also to show the way Jake was separate from that, not carrying the physical mark himself.

In 10k Lightyears the entire plot of the 5th chapter was meant to b a ref to the multiverse colliding/collapsing in other MCU movies like no way home and multiverse of madness, though it wasn’t on a solid timeline as that verse was blended with comic lore as well, it was a cool way to incorporate a big in world event from a point of view of a character who doesn’t understand what’s happening but is still experiencing it.

And in my recent fic Third Time, in the scene where Jack takes a cab ride with Jake, I was trying to leave not just Jake as an Easter egg (even tho he’s tagged), but Khonshu as well, implying that being close to a moon god was the reason Jack turned prematurely, the energy messing with his brain and physiology.

Easter eggs or lil details like that r always so fun to include even if ppl don’t notice n I love talking ab my thoughts behind them aFGhhhHg!!!

Soooo for starters.. this year was a pretty intense year for me (if I can put it that way kk) but I went trough a lot of hiatus and creation hiatus, I changed blogs, created a new blog.... so this was a rollercoaster for me haha! also I did unite my both blogs creations here because there were some months were I didn’t create nothing here but did there so this was easier for me ^^

enough from talking and here we go!

→ January: This year I decided to really transform this blog into a multi blog and this set was my first creation for ateez and one of my first gif sets and I never thought it would get this many notes hahah. To end the month too I started one of my fav mb series and this cheol mb was really a good star for it! I’m still very proud of it!

→ February: continuing with the mb series.. this mb of hoshi was one of my ut favs and also credit to my sistah for editing the tiger patterns on hoshi’s face and making this mb even better! Birthdays sets are always pretty popular but this dino set was my first set to get that many notes and I was really proud of it!

→ March: another one of my mb series (yeah as I said before I love this series hahah) this minghao mb was really challenging for me.. it was the first time I was exploring that many colors in one mb and seeing the feedback I got made me really happy! ofc I couldn’t let this set out! my fav moments of my angel and my forever ult bias!

→ April: I want to thank the anon who requested this set kk because this was one of the cutest sets I ever made and I don’t think I’ll ever get over this haha

→ May: Sooo after my first hiatus I was finally back and hitorijanai was just released and I thought I would change my way of doing my moodboards and this set of jun was created and it was the first time a mb got so many notes I was actually pretty shook hahah also this birthday set for svt has my heart it was a really last minute idea I had and I just thought it came out really cute!

→ June: Another birthday set hehe was really surprised by this set too! It did better that I thought it would haha

→ July: Arthurkyeom was back and I had to make something! so this set was created haha I love how similar it was to my last arthurkyeom set but at the same time it was different? idk how to explain but I do love this set! and of course 17daysofwonu started and I made one of my fav sets of him ^^

→ August: and we got to august and made the birthday set of my fav leo boy ^^ Also this set of my beautiful boys being playful with each other! and last but not least this was the first month were I started creating things for skz too and this set was created!

→ September: This was another month were I went on hiatus here but actually was the month I start to create for my skz blog more ^^ This set was and still is one of my favs and I love the colors of the set. Also this was tht month I started my felix gifs series all because of this set!

→ October: this was an eventual month kk jeonghan’s birthday, bang chan’s birthday, hyunjin’s aotm! this was the month were I created my biggest set... never thought chan’s birthday set was gonna blow up like this and it was also the first set I did with my new way of making gifs so I was really proud of it!

→ November: another month were I didn’t create much on this blog but made this set of felix and its one of my favs hehe

→ December: After months I was finally back at making moodboard and made this one that I was really insecure about but now I do really love it! Also december is the month of end of the year performances and i had to make something for hyunjin’s mama intro because that look was really something else

June - this is my most popular which was the biggest surprise but also how cute are they??? but the dtm liam ones are my fav bc his first win and the start of one hell of a journey 🥰 and also this one because start of the euros and a very special summer ⚽️

July - dans birthday post is my most popular, and im very proud of this, even though the first gif doesn't gif anymore which is annoying and I can't fix it 😕 but this is my fav because its funny to me

December - emotions were high in all sorts of ways but this post really just made me feel warm inside, as well as the love it got! uh yeah, this one, no words really..merry christmas to us all I guess 💕 side note for the donuts, I didn’t realise how motion sick this made me at the time but whenever I see it on my dash or my blog I feel ill so, truly sorry about that one lads..

MatsuHana fanfic recs

HI LOVES :D MatsuHana is one of my FAVORITE ships and I always love reading their fics! I’m procrastinating my other wips rn, so that do be why this is coming out rn LOL. Also that ask really made me get onto writing this, so anon thank you for sending it in LOL. There are some with VERY sensitive topics and they’re very BOLD, but I hope you all are safe while going through this list <3 (also matsuhana leans more to lots of drinking, spicy smut scenes, and teenage boy humor (like d*ck jokes and sexual innuendos) and sometimes I don’t remember to warn for that, so again CAUTION)

When will I get to share a heart shaped bed with someone :( But I really love it when they just go with the flow of things, and other people are like,,, aren’t you already dating? This gets annoying fast, Makki by Ink_stained_quills (G) 2.3k // IM IN LOVE WITH THIS FIC PLS I COULD NOT STOP CRYING TEARS OF LAUGHTER. This AU needs more fics PLEASE. It was SO freakin’ funny and the other teams KILLED ME. Like how they all approached the problem differently and how some of them (KUROO) asked for help LOL. Please this is so freaking funny go read it.

quidditch gloves, parchment, and custard cream by h_lovely (T) 12.4k // THIS IS SO GOOD, I love this fic. It really takes you through the emotions, and I love all the development in it!!!! Their relationship with one another (but only as homies right? ofc ofc), and even their families loving the other, this fic is so good! Read it even if you don’t like slow burn, you won’t even notice <3333

call me maybe by totooru (T) 33.6k // okay yea another (semi) chat fic,,, fight me. MatsuHana are just funny in general but throw some other characters (like Kuroo) into it and it turns into a comedy show. But the main point of this fic was like the near miss meetings and I think that the misunderstanding were hilarious (as much as I hate misunderstandings LOL).

Magical Mishaps and How to Deal by plumtrees (M) 10.9k // I lost this fic once and I searched for it FOR THE LONGEST TIME. But that’s cause I wanted to reread this masterpiece. IT’S SO FUNNY AND CUTE AND DOMESTIC AND UGH. Also the small angst made me SO SAD. But the ENDING? THE KISSES AHHHHHHH. (I’m yelling a lot BUT that’s cause I really love this fic <3333)

hang out fall in love by carafin (T) 8.6k // I love the Makki hates Mattsun initially but then falls for the irresistible charm he posses trope. It might be my favorite trope for MatsuHana specifically LOL. Like I really love this fic and it has MAGIC. It’s like a magical version of the VA one LOL. But like no radio shows or reunited best friends in this one :(

THESE ARE VERY ANGST!!!!!!!

boiled frogs by reginagalaxia (E) 91.5k // is it possible to hate a character this much? I never realized how much hate/rage I had in me. Really. Like. Imma boutta fight this MF LIKE SQUARE UP. The way I tried to manifest a fake characters death like,,,, Anyway. If my RAGE doesn’t explain how good of a freakin writer they are, then idk what will. PLEASE READ THE TAGS AND WARNINGS, THERE ARE VERY SENSITIVE TOPICS!!!!

Even Though it All Went Wrong by plumtrees (T) 9.2k // THIS IS THE REASON THIS POST CAME TO BE. I love this fic with all my heart (or what’s left of it). Like LOVE as in, this fic really broke me beyond just breaking me. Like. When Oikawa says what he says to Mattsun after the thing (you’re sorry __ _____ __ ____) and the Iwa right after (we know __’__ ___ ______ to make you ____ __ ____) (if you’re wondering wtf I’m putting here, just ctrl F you’re sorry and you’ll see), you cannot believe how hard that hit. GOD. (I am okay if you’re wondering :’)) This is my #1 favorite angst fic of all time and if you are okay mentally and have read the tags and warnings and are fine with them, then please read it. PLEASE READ THE TAGS AND WARNINGS, THERE ARE VERY SENSITIVE TOPICS!!!!

The Truth Comes Out by Your_Friendly_Neighborhood_Pigeon (T) 10.2k // this made me so sad and empty after I read it. Like I just sat there being like wtf did I just read I’m sad now. Again read the tags, there is a suicide attempt but there’s also some cheating in this one. This one also ends happy. PLEASE READ THE TAGS AND WARNINGS, THERE ARE VERY SENSITIVE TOPICS!!!!

New:

kiyala // this writer has a LOT of fluffy MatsuHana and I really love their works! It’s just all (for the most part) really cute and there’s a lotta blurred lines and boundaries that get cleared up (they define what their relationship is but with ~love~) in their fics :) My fav? Making Sense by kiyala (T) 1.5k // it’s very cute and I am one who loves when things just fall into place :D

tookumade // this writer has some of MY FAVORITE MatsuHana fics in it and I’m kinda really sad I don’t get to ramble on about them here :( (dw I will elsewhere LOL) If I had to choose, I would say Remind Me by tookumade (T) 28.6k and Zenith, Nadir by tookumade (T) 10.7k were my absolute favorites, but I cannot choose between them so don’t make me.

plumtrees // I LOVE THIS WRITER OMG. Again, someone who has written my all time FAVORITE fics (did I mention OF ALL TIME?) and I’ve obsessively read some of them too many times :’) Because I already recommended my other faves above, Captured Light by plumtrees (T) 3.5k will be my acting favorite rn. It’s really cute and depicts some really sweet moments between MatsuHana too!

h_lovely // this writer has SO MANY GOOD FICS! I really love their series and their getting together fics are all SO GOOD UGH. I recommended my favorite teen one above, but the other ones I loved are explicit so just check out this writer in general LOL. (I REALLY love mirror flower, water moon, it’s my favorite but it’s E cause some smexy scene happen, but it’s really SO good omfg. Also the roses series IS AMAZING as well!!!!)

cream puffs and carnations; by crossbelladonna (series) 11.6k // AU SERIES!!! I love the AU’s in this series and I really liked the prompts they chose for this MatsuHana week :D My favorite from this series might’ve been there he is again by crossbelladonna (T) 1.6k cause a) I love the mattsun hc in this (for his appearance) and b) IT’S CUTE :D I definitely related to Makki and his not very subtle crushing, and also I like the IwaOi + Makki as friends trope (and then they meet Mattsun), if you couldn’t tell yet LOL.

on the anatomy of crushes by carafin (T) 2.3k // (kinda cp but not LOL) it’s very short and cute and I love it a lot LOL. I love medical AU’s (even though it’s very back burner LOL), but also, like Mattsun saves the day is the move. Like the dedication he has even going on the bus? Especially for a guy? Amazing. I could never :’)

Parallel Lines by orphan_account (T) 16.3k // IN LOVE WITH THIS FIC LIVES IN MY MIND RENT FREE CONSTANTLY. I hate math. Just putting that out here. And while it’s a math fic, IT? IS? SO? GOOD???? And like I love it when characters are smart, like I love intelligent characters so like this was just ajndf. (also same Mattsun, I am allergic to normal math.)

live it up, drink it in by punybastard (T) 2.1k // GAH this one! This is a pretty iconic fic in MatsuHana hell (in my personal opinion) and if I didn’t have that two fic limit on my staple fics, this would be there. I really loved the ending of it (v cute and v well done), but also the small side stories that were inserted made it all the more entertaining :D (aka the volleyball) But they are drinking underage, so if you’re not about that BE WARNED.

it's cold out here by bishounen_curious (M) 8.6k // PLEASE I LOVE THIS FIC. YES READ YESYESYES READ. OKAY FIRST check tags and warnings, there’s a lot going on in this fic. Like don’t be stupid like them, drinking underage, and don’t do drugs not a good idea very very bad. Aside from that, I am in love with sad sad sad Makki (along with stupid IwaOi) and him being a sad drunk made me ajhkjdfs. Just read it and feel the akfnakjs with me LMFAO.

poolside by tothemoon (T) 4.1k // I’m starting this out with I LOVE the ending and I REALLY LOVE the way this confession panned out. It’s such a great concept and it made me ajhfldshf inside!!! Also, recursive endings are some of my favorites (if you couldn’t already tell LOL), and I think it really makes something so nostalgic and adds depth to a fic.

The Courage of Stars by FairyLights101 (T) 7.1k // AHHHHHHHHHHHHH I LOVE THIS FIC YES!!!! OKAY TW CANCER THERE’S CANCER IN THIS NO DEATH JUST PAIN and chemo (which basically is pain). Some controversy, but the angst part of me wanted him to die DONT GET ME WRONG, I’m glad he lived, but like imagine. I really love this fic, and his efforts in the bucket list were admirable :’)

we could be the greatest team by anyadisee (T) 5.7k // it’s my crack fic :D Yes, this is just Seijoh messing around, boys being boys, relationships being compared with other relationships. No pining, just me with my established relationships (and Iwa fanclubs cause those are a thing. ALWAYS).

Wet Your Whistle by darkmagicalgirl (E) 5.4k // SMUT ALERT okay but like while it’s a major plot point (lmfao I can’t believe myself), the storyline itself is good. Also, I’m all here for bartender Makki and tattoo Makki and not subtle at all Makki and basically everything Makki. I like banter and stupidity okay?

that's what you get (for waking up in vegas) by skittidyne (T) 4.2k // THIS IS SO FUNNY. I love Elvis cause he’s always officiating marriages in my fics LMFAO. But also IwaOi in this added some real nice comedy, and overall another crack fic but I really liked this one (AGAIN LMFAO).

A Bouquet of Flours by guyfierimpreg (G) 5.2k // first I want to know how they got the flour to scream, I just can’t figure it out so if anyone would like to send me pictures that’d be great. Second, they would do this bs and this is all canon. I said what I said, and I don’t take criticism. Like, matsuhana best parents proven by the magical mishaps fic (LMAO).

texting (with a capital S) by parenthetic (renaissance) (M) 2.1k // okay I just wanted to say that the accuracy in the math stuff being mentioned makes me feel like this writer was in calc ab or something and that’s trauma right there. Anyways, it’s a texting fic kinda sorta getting together kinda sorta not? Idk how to explain it, but it was funny and then smut LMFOAJIAHFSJS (the derail was just like IwaOi in gay chicken, someone call the police LMFAO).

nebulas by tothemoon (T) 10.8k // I like the casualness of it. Like the confession was just so casual (smooth Mattsun) and like the progression was GOOD. Like, it’s a very poetic fic and there’s lots of thinking of deeper meaning, but its still got some comedy sprinkled throughout. I really loved the flow of it!!!!

my heart beats for contract law by orphan_account (T) 4.4k // I too would have a breakdown over school (me pretending like I haven’t already done that ahaha), but I really love so many things about this fic! Everything was just so ajsdfljdsn and I really love the 3 part plan Mattsun comes up with :DDDD (esp pt 3). Also, to propose while having an emotional breakdown at 3am in a McDonalds drive through. A mf dream.

Reflex by hiuythn (T) 2.3k // PLEASE IF THEY DIDN’T MEET AT HS THIS WOULD BE CANON ASF. You cannot tell me you don’t think this would not be cannon asf. They would meet like this. Also poor Teuchi stuck in the middle of all of this. I haven’t watched naruto, but it doesn’t really matter. What matters is random emotional sexual bonding over something. That is important. (THE ENDING AJKFHKJ)

You're in Pink (and I'm in blue) by Hyeyu (T) 4.4k // whooooo Hanahaki whooo anyway, despite how it seems, I like the hanahaki trope. I don’t fully understand it sometimes (most of the time tbh), but it adds some nice angst and desperate confessions, and I do appreciate those :D Honestly, I really liked the way this fic panned out, and I felt really bad for Iwa LOL.

stranger things by tinypersonhotel (G) 10.2k // I really like this one :D:D:D I love Makki + Oikawa friendship and they’re really the best to each other :’) The ending was satisfying, and the PLOT omg. It was SO good. I feel like I say this a lot though LOL, but I’m just really into fics with good plot progression (or else I don’t read them OOPS).

something of a disaster by latenights (T) 1.4k // chaos ahahhaha. Another crack fic? I hope no one is surprised LOL. It’s just a really short and simple, cute getting together fic with a LOT of insults LOL. I love this one in particular, “Tooru’s dinner special”.

snakes, meth labs and something like love by orphan_account (G) 3.6k // THE ROOMMATE AD PLEASE. I honestly would never think Oikawa would get a snake, but that doesn’t matter LOL. This was me indulging myself in the makki IwaOi best friends and mattsun stranger agenda but it’s a great agenda okay? It’s a good fic and there’s a microwaved fish :D

Lemonade by carriecmoney (T) 4.1k // okay once again, responsible drinking and don’t drink underage bad idea smh. But MatsuHana just making out where they want? I could see that. Yeah. Anyway, as much as public make out seshes make me *gag* feel embarrassed, what made me feel more *gag* embarrassed was the fact that the girls? just? stood? there? Like why are you watching this. Is that just me? I feel like they should’ve left smh.

surprise, surprise by airblends (T) 7.6k // some more pining and dancing around the issue whoooo. As much as I hate them not getting to the point (almost as much as I hate misunderstandings), it was a great fic. This is nosebleed c*ck block (idk if I needed to censor that but I did fight me).

A God for Every Season by timkons (T) 18.4k // I love the Hades and Persephone trope! Okay, I just love mythology leave me be, but anyway I really love a lot of this fic. Like how Mattsun thinks it’s a little brighter with Makki? CUTE I LOVE. But also, the fish funeral is ridiculous but also very on brand for Oikawa. And some BokuKuroo (idk is that their ship) in here as well :DDD

The Best/Worst Places to Cry in the City by AngryKitten (T) 4.4k // literally it is the title. Just you know, looking for the best place to cry in the city,,,, I’d like to say, don’t cat call people cause we’re not about that here. Even if it worked out for them, just don’t do it :/ Also don’t follow strangers. I feel like that’s a given but jic ya know?

this isn't exactly how i thought i'd be spending my adult years by jadedpearl (NR) 7.5k // okay petty Makki is yes and so is my Makki + IwaOi agenda LOL. (I’m thriving here can’t you tell? Yes regular skype/phone calls constantly) Anyway, blackouts and sickness really be here getting people together. (I’m asking nicely, nike.) And Makki is smooth with his words. (SHORTER MEN MADE ME LAUGH)

chocolate by tellalie (T) 3.6k // the dedication in this fic was amazing. Like making a whole a cake? Someone go do that for me. (For mankind.) Fake dating is really something else, but fake dating to out gag your best friends? Seems like I need to step up my game (but no seriously, my best friends are PDA monsters I hate it here). Also practice confessions are wack.

FINALLY I MADE IT. You don’t know how many times I almost gave up on finishing LMFAO. Is this my longest list? Idk. But I just know that I would’ve finished faster if I didn’t end up rereading almost every fic on this list LMFAO. Like no seriously I almost had to make a post saying this wouldn’t be coming out cause I got distracted by one of the longer fics (I’m blaming Mirror Flower, Water Moon specifically). The results pt 2 ~ “What about it makes you cringe?” Category 1

( - prologue. - part 1 - category 2 - category 3)

Okay so this is the results to the question in the quiz, What about it makes you cringe. In reference to the questionnaires core subject about smut fanfics.

Also quick psa there will be a part for the results for the other question - “In kpop fics, Korean words i.e. jagiya, seem to be a no no, would you like to elaborate why?”

Now note these particular results are going to be split into 3 posts because I decided to split the results into 3 categories. 1 - Writing Aspects. 2 - Personal Preferences. 3 - Genuine Problems.

DISCLAIMER BELOW. (please read that before continuing)

This is going to be a long post. The responses were very enlightening but please don’t take this as an attack. Consider this more as constructive cheat sheet to good smut writing or just ignore it if you don’t agree with it. Some of this did get a bit deep appropriate trigger warnings will be put on the appropriate posts but I’m not sorry it got deep fics can also affect real life as much as we wish it were something that didn’t mix in with real life, it does. I’m no official like sex guru or big-time writer, or what ever BUT I did add little advice underneath each answer, which are just a reflection of the people’s answers. Again if you don’t like the sounds of this don’t take it personal and click off.

Writing aspects.

Poorly written/typos – Nearly all of the people said that, poorly written, bad grammar and lots of typos made them cringe. Answers said that sometimes works are so poorly written it comes across as though the person writing doesn’t know how sex works. Now by poorly written they talked about, the plot being non sensical, choppy or lacking decent grammar, too many typos, using words in the wrong context, repetitive language. They also specified they understand not everyone’s first language is English but the least that can be done is proofreading of the works by them or someone else. And many people cried over the use of first person, they felt it brings them out of imagining the fic.

Language used – So they we’re talking about strange words for body parts especially genitals, and just weird terms and phrases in general. Regarding body parts, everyone mentioned that childish or full-on scientific names for genitals was the worst. Feedback suggests calling it a dick, cock – although some commented that cock sounded too vulgar, and pussy. Also referring to female’s arousal as juices was a common answer, to quote one of my fav answers “so none of that her juices coated my fingers’ Like bitch it aint orange juice.” Then for weird terms and phrases, no specific example was given but I’m certain they meant things that literally every man and their dog would not say, ever! Personal opinion here but, “you like what you see?” and “Your wish is my command.”, and “tongues fighting for dominance.” should die off. It’s overused and I’m sick of seeing it – pretty sure no one says that during sex in real life anyway.

So, to avoid it alls you need to do is use second or third person, proofread, and learn how sex works if you don’t know. Also, best way to proofread it to leave it a few days then come back and read it again – also there are apps like Grammarly that help with your writing too. (PSA I personally love proofreading work, because I’m weird like that, so if you ever want me to proofread drop me a message/anon.)

So, take a moment to consider what you are writing, again proofreading is very helpful, and just stick to the mature ways to say dick/pussy. Suggestion here if you can’t write it the mature way, stop writing smut fics because clearly you’re either not mature enough or uncomfortable (to be) writing smut.

Dialogue – Too much dialogue and not enough action cropped up a number of times. Also that the dialogue written is cringy essentially, Then there was too much dirty talk, and dirty talk that shouldn’t even be considered dirty talk which commented a lot in regards to dialogue. And although I think I wrote about this answer previously but weird words, exaggeration, and choppiness in the dialogue. (someone commented over use of buzzword but idk what buzzwords are.) May I also personally add that written fake stutters irritate the living day lights out of me just stop.

---- I actually did another questionnaire about this, it didn’t garner same amount as this one but it gained a good few responses. The answers should be available to see, if you want you can take a look at that to see more about people thoughts when it comes to dirty talk in fics. ----

Advice is, keep in mind when writing dirty talk what sounds good, to plausible, to terrible. Just think about what sounds realistic as well, draw on your own experiences or what you want to be said to you. Also, if you don’t find it sexy don’t write it for everyone else’s sake or to fit in with the trend, stay true to yourself but try to vary it up for each fic you write.

No build up – They talked about how some fics go straight to the dicking down, to action, with no build up or a bit of sensical plot, and it doesn’t work. Or if the characters haven’t even talked and suddenly, they’re down to fuck. They expressed it doesn’t make sense and doesn’t feel like the characters are even that interested, as though they’re fucking for the sake of fucking. This also ties in with some comments that said sometimes people fail to remember smut isn’t just about being railed, it is also about connections with people and making love so going straight to the fucking, fails to make the reader want to continue reading.

The solution to this is to reference history/tension or build up the tension between characters, or just set the scene a little bit before getting straight into it. Also remember no one is having sex without some foreplay and if they are it isn’t very good, so don’t let it be like that in your writing.

Lack of realism/inaccuracies – Okay so this was mainly in regard to sex, the way the body works and some scenarios. To elaborate, people said that there are just some sex positions and places to have sex that just don’t work. In example one person wrote how sex in a gaming/office chair doesn’t work well and they know through personal experience. So, for the readers it’s just super unrealistic that it happens, and it leaves the reader either fixated on figuring out how that is possible or cringing because they know it’s not possible rather than reading the rest of the fic. There’re also just some ways the body doesn’t work I’m not going to go through examples there are so many, but we all know what is meant. Also, I’ll mention that kinks also were apart of the lack of realism, I’ll talk more about that in the next post.

So, based on this the only thing I can say is keep it real and keep it accurate as possible. Like we know its fiction but consider how ridiculous some of the stuff you’re writing may be, how impossible it is. Just don’t be afraid to google things – you can actually freeze and delete your search history – to double check or educate yourself about. Or ask for advice, draw from experience, or maybe try it out yourself with or without your partner then reflect that in your writing.
