Randomly visited reddit and saw this:

My first thought: it's an incel pretending to be a woman, because what modern woman thinks she's spoiled milk a 30??? (Aside from also trashing her girl friends - girl, get better friends!) But their profile doesn't seem weird in any way, so, I guess there are some people out there who really somehow believe youth ends at 29. Even some who have aged past it.

It's not even true that all 30 year olds are less beautiful than they were at 20. People age in different ways at at different rates: yeah, your likelihood of getting wrinkles and gray hairs is only ever going to go up. But some people don't have their style figured out in their twenties - some people turn thirty and freaking bloom. And you can't call that a late bloomer. 40 isn't a late bloomer either! 20 is nice but it's not the heaven on earth it's cracked up to be, and 30 is just getting started.

Idk about the rest of you but you know those posts about how embarrassing it is to look back on 14? Yeah, related to those when I was 20. Now I've passed the big 3-0, and guess what - I think 20 year old me was so silly lol. So insecure, so afraid to make mistakes, so resistant to change. I enjoyed my twenties, but my early thirties have so far been way better: I'm more confident, less self-involved, and I find happiness so much more easily than I did back when I thought everything I did had to matter So Damn Much. And if you think that doesn't relate to being attractive: confidence is 90% of it. Just walk up and smile. A confident, happy person always attracts others even if they're just average-looking.

Also for people who like men, don't forget: men in their 30s usually aren't quite the energizer bunnies they were in their 20s when it comes to ~sexy times~ The 20-year-old stud who insisted he could go for a roll multiple times a day, every day, is probably much less gung ho at 30. And also more forward-thinking, and less amaaaaazed by omg boobies!!! When you're young, half the excitement is just how new everything is. It gets less intense, thank goodness. (But it's still hot!)

This post just totally rubbed me the wrong way. It read as a still young woman anxiously wringing her hands in apology for having the audacity to be single at... 30?? And apparently not trusting women to have good advice about dating at 30 (so no point in me responding to her, lol), but perfectly comfortable kissing up to incel mindsets such as "women past 25 should accept that they're sloppy seconds" etc. "Value as a partner" do you have intrinsic worth as a human being?? Yes??? Then your value does NOT degrade. Yeah, you might have gray hair, the horror, so unsexy (I've had very visible grays since I was 23 and been dyeing since 26 lmao). Doesn't mean you're less hot than some 20 year old who doesn't know what she's doing. Doesn't mean it'll be at all hard to find a partner who will love you warts and all. Do you have this same expectation of men? Are you gonna start dating a 30 year old dude and then complain that he gets tired more quickly than a 20 year old would?? Is he less sexy just because he doesn't party all night and drink twice his weight without effect? Overrated overrated overrated!

My parents divorced in their 60s. My mom's got a new boyfriend who takes her dancing under the full moon. They're living their best lives way past their so-called "prime" and no, that is not rare - it's just a choice. If you view yourself as having some expiration date, you're not gonna do anything to improve your happiness once you're past it. Don't let incels or misogyny or whatever convince you your perfectly wholesome milk has gone bad, because that is a self-fulfilling prophecy.

ETA: Well, while I was working this got 150 notes, and although that's barely a drop in the bucket, it's still a lot more than my rants usually get (about 2 lol). So I just want to clarify a couple things so I stop getting comments about them.

This post was from the askmen subreddit. I left that out, feeling "reddit" was context enough, but I guess the implications may not have been obvious, especially to tumblr users who don't also use reddit. Askmen isn't a horrible place (a number of the responders pointed out why they prefer older women to younger ones), but many of its members have a pretty incel-adjacent vibe. Plus there are a number of women (real or not) who post there, many of whom have a similar brown-nosey "unlike those radical feminists, I'm a woman who knows her place" attitude.

It's fine to suggest the OP may have internalized misogyny from being abused - but it's not a given, as nothing in the post is a definite indication of abuse by itself. Big kudos for the compassion - just keep in mind that my response was about general attitudes towards dating post-twenties and not about abuse victims.

To the person who thinks a relationship of six years makes a difference somehow?: You seem to have interpreted my post as an attack on people who feel insecure about returning to dating after a breakup. But I think it's clearly nothing to do with that. Of course it is natural to have anxieties about being single after so long, but nowhere in this post was that denied or mocked. Whether you've been together one year or six, this post would always be weird - those natural anxieties don't make misogynistic mindsets about decrepit 30-year-old women any less gross. If you had decided to write a reaction to the OP's post, perhaps you would have chosen to center it on the effects of coming off a long term relationship, and I'm sure it'd be insightful. However, I am not you, and I chose to react to the attitudes around aging in relationships reflected in the post.

We know Papyrus, and all of us would absolutely give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he was innocent. But Seam and Jevil don't know the Papyrus we know.

All Seam sees is an absolute mountain of bodies and an state of utter decay all around him.. with suspiciously the last man standing being a very clearly mentally unstable skeleton.. would you assume he was innocent?

Add onto that all the stress Seam was under, how unstable he was as well. Seam couldn't see the situation any other way and he was not taking any chances.

Its the people who say things like "When are you gonna finish this" "Why did you stop drawing this" "How long until you draw this again" "I don't like what you're drawing, now go back to this it was better" comments like THOSE, suck. And its always about the same comics/subjects that I stopped drawing months ago. Looking at you Octonauts crab comic

As for my AUs, its not too hard for me to remember all of them. I never have more than 5-6 per fandom. I can usually list them off by memory! :0

Tbh the animatronics would probably just register that as a mess/hazard and would notify an employee about the issue. In which the employee would dispatch a mop bot to go clean it up. I imagine it unfortunately happens often enough that the bots aren't really fazed. Kids amirite-

Blog hiatus

Alright fellas, it's that time of the semester where I'm getting my ass kicked by school 20 times per hour, and this semester it seems to be worst than usual, so I'm taking the incredibly stupid decision to just log out of tumblr both on my phone and my computer, here's a rundown of this fiasco while I'm gone

I should be back in 2 weeks and a half/ 3 weeks

My mental health will be deteriorating cuz I'll have 0 distraction, but at least assignments are gonna get done and exams are going to get prepared for

The queue is still going, I've reduced it to 30 posts a day, and I have new gifsets (like 3 maybe idk) that I made like forever ago that should publish too at some point during the first 2 weeks

I'm gonna queue this post to reblog itself twice a week, so y'all know why I'm not reblogging the posts I was tagged in or answering messages (keep tagging me and sending me stuff tho, I'll rebblog and answer when I get back)

jt (finally) watches warrior nun - s2 e1 - Avatrice fight thoughts pt 2

Guess who finally finished the episode! I’m gonna do a post on the dance of romance and the aftermath of the fight in a separate post because I want to go out of order and talk about the fight scene since I’d already started talking about it here.

For such a short scene it does a lot - my notes ended up quite long lol. It was a great scene to highlight how much better Ava’s gotten - but what was also interesting was how it showed how much better Beatrice is compared to Ava. So I figured I’d do a bit of a comparison of the following:

Fight styles (plus a little bit more on each of their opening moves)

Success against multiple attackers / situational awareness (and hits taken)

Vibe in general

First, can we applaud the fact that Ava doesn’t run? Like, even faced with two dudes initially she immediately - and a little cockily - squares up. And yeah she seems a little worried when the number ups to five, but she stands her ground, doesn’t make any moves to run. And these dudes are like, twice her weight and a full head taller than her! Pretty darn badass.

Okay so let’s start with fight styles: So despite Ava being taught by Beatrice, Ava has more of a brawler feel. Makes me wonder if Beatrice leaned into it when she was training her. As in: she must of have noticed Ava’s tendencies, would have definitely taken Ava’s personality into account, yknow? And yes, there’s fundamentals and safety but the best teachers and coaches nurture what’s already there. And idk, I feel like Beatrice isn’t the type to stifle (not when she herself has been, not when Ava has such a passion for living).

Ava tends to swings wide, has extra movement compared to Bea, who’s the epitome of precision and fluidity. Also interesting is that Bea stays grounded the whole time, whilst Ava goes airborne three times: her opening takedown (0:11), a jumping front kick (0:47), and while caught in a rear bear hug (0:50). She literally launches herself into every move, which is very much in character for Ava.

Also, speaking of opening moves: Beatrice’s opening move (0:33) is a simple one that takes advantage of her surprise entrance: it looks like she grabs one dude’s shoulder from behind and somehow gets him to his knees. Feels in character to Beatrice, not getting attention even from the camera lol. But though it’s not as flashy as Ava’s entrance, it’s effective, which is all that matters.

What’s lovely to watch about Bea’s fight is just how fluid it is - similar to the Arq-tech fight, everything flows together. For example, take the moment after that nasty wrist lock strike (0:41): she not only blocks that second dude’s punch but is is already transitioning to a shoulder lock (which, again kudos to KTY for her physicality, the way she uses her whole body, stretching up then twisting to torque the dude’s shoulder - again, very important to use one’s whole body when performing joint locks against a bigger opponent), which flows into crashing the dudes together, and that beautiful spinning back kick.

Everything about Bea’s fight screams professional. I mean, there’s that straight punch she does at 0:54 where it’s precise and powerful - and look how she retracts just as quickly, already loaded for a follow up. And if we’re going to talk about precision: freaking performing a wrist lock is already finicky enough, but to keep that pressure while moving?? Geez.

Also the whole flipping the dude behind her with that shoulder shrug (0:58): yeah, I don’t understand how that’s possible, there was no momentum or leverage, but if we’re going to suspend disbelief and look at it in terms of story, I can see what they were trying to do in painting Beatrice as an aikido master.

Speaking of mastery, let’s move to the second point about multiple attackers. One of my first thoughts as I was watching this scene was, “How did Ava learn to fight multiple opponents if she’s only been training with Beatrice?” If this is the first time she’s been in that kind of situation, she does a good job! She makes smart choices and divides her attention well (good example is the very first exchange at 0:32, she does a great job getting the first dude off-line with that parry that turns him and starts to expose his back - I bet if it’d been 1 v 1, she’d have likely followed up on that, but she makes a good decision to tend to the second dude; also at 0:36, she takes a hit but is smart about getting that dude out of the way so she can do that fun push kick on the other dude).

All in all, yeah, Ava takes a few hits but she shows incredible situational awareness for the level she’s at (and likely for her first 1 v many fight).

Then we have Beatrice. Whereas Ava was constantly reacting, Beatrice was in complete control of her fight. It’s an interesting contrast to the Arq-tech fight: there, she took on each guard one at a time, but here, she is almost always is engaged with both dudes at the same time. Plus, she’s unarmed here. (Which now makes me wonder if Beatrice also “leveled up” while in the Alps. Huh.)

The ultimate example of Beatrice’s superior situational awareness is of course that no-look dodge at 0:55 - probably the closest she ever gets to getting hit during this fight. Note that Beatrice takes no hits during this whole fight, compared to Ava taking three hits (plus a grab; also not counting the crowbar strike she phased through).

Lastly, we’ve got their general vibe. Ava, just like in freaking everything, is just so in the moment and loving it. Now that she’s overcome her flight tendency and has confidence in her fighting abilities, she relishes being in the action. Yeah, there’s that scary moment when she’s caught in the rear bear hug, but she thinks quickly (bases out, seems to also go for the dude’s grip - all textbook moves to execute when in that situation) and gets out of it safely.

Also, I mentioned she took three hits: Did you notice that she just kept going? Yeah, she has the halo to help her heal, but that doesn’t shield her from the pain and the shock of getting hit. It takes a heck of a lot of conditioning to take a blow and just keep going, and Ava does a fantastic job keeping focused.

But if we’re gonna talk about focus, good god, Beatrice’s focus is on another level. This is Beatrice in kill-mode 0 I mean, that look she gives the dude when she wrist locks him at 0:57?

How did that dude not die on the spot? Seriously. Beatrice is cold as ice here, and she doesn’t drop her guard until the very end. (I still think it’s so interesting, the way she steps feet together at 1:03 - it’s very reminiscent of ending a kata, of formally ending a match; though she’s very much still on her guard, almost resigned even, her body has acknowledged that the fight is over).

Oh, I also forgot to mention two things: First, Beatrice again chose not to step in when it comes to Ava interacting with Michael. What’s the saying? Third time is a habit? But she does what she always does, which is watch. Which leads to my second thing: Beatrice must not have been far to have come in so quickly. I wonder if she started heading home then turned back around (maybe she saw Ava’s opening move and felt a little bit of pride?) or kept close the whole time (only stepping in when the odds turned decidedly not in Ava’s favor).

I guess it also explains Beatrice’s vibe in this fight. At Arq-tech, she was fighting only for herself, but my thoughts then are ones I still believe now: that Beatrice sees herself as expendable. But here, she’s not alone - she’s fighting not just for herself, but for Ava as well. She has to win, because to lose means Ava getting hurt.

So yeah, lots of rambling lol - I didn’t expect to be so fascinated with this fight until I started taking notes. I guess the last thing I’ll say is how analyzing this fight made me more sympathetic to Beatrice - when she tells Ava she’s not ready, she truly believes that, and we see evidence here. Ava loves being in the fight, does a pretty bang up job, but Beatrice knows it’s not enough, not when it comes to Adriel.

hey, that’s a really rude thing to say about medical transitioning. you have a say in what happens to your body, but you don’t get to call it gross when someone makes a different decision. how would you feel if someone called you gross for NOT having certain surgeries? asking for people to stop making art of it is beyond insulting, art depicts people as they exist. real people exist with top surgery scars. not only is it mean, it also recycles rhetoric that prevents ALL trans people from existing. nobody is glorifying medical transition, it’s only getting harder. if you want more representation of non-medically transitioning trans people, you can say that without dragging down your peers

thats not rly what i mean and it was more off a personal vent than anything so sorry it came off as some kind of attack, thats my fault i was gonna delete it cuz i know i worded it bad but i forgor but whatever ill share my thoughts

i don't like that medical transition is held on this pedestal to be "the only way" and those who don't want it are just an afterthought. It makes me feel alienated by not feeling comfortable with it, i don't like people who treat it like some intrinsic part of being trans, treating it like it's not something thats hard to get!!!!!

just because it's far from glorified in the wider world, doesn't mean it can't be glorified within smaller communities IE online transgender spaces

im not calling people gross for wanting it, idk rly what i was thinking but i think i meant more like, its gross and weird to me when people act like surgeries and medication are the only way to go. + i can think something is gross but that doesn't mean other people can't want it

im not rly asking people to stop drawing it, i know my opinion on it means dogshit nothing, more just an annoyance in that i dislike when people put surgery scars on a character with 0 consideration for what that means and how it affects them, like treating it like its just an accessory to mark a character as "trans"

im not telling people what to do, im telling people to stop telling/pressuring others what to do, even if its subconscious it holds weight, every meme and drawing that implies all trans men get top surgery or use testosterone has an effect

i can have my own opinion and feelings and it's not "preventing trans people from existing", it's about it making people think they should feel bad if it's difficult for them to get and makes them feel bad for not fitting the rest of their group instead of being free to do what they want.

I think it just causes unnecessary grief when you don't encourage people to think twice about what they really want for their transition.

+ i have irl legit trauma with this topic and it makes me feel kinda sick and disgusted so sorry bout not disclosing my trauma when i went to make a personal vent post at 3am

sry i wrote an essay i had a lot to say and didn't want to leave too much room for misinterpretation but there probably still will be cuz im shit at words, just try to look on the surface and not be too pedantic cuz im stupid and don't have the time or brain power to think of a counter argument based on every word in this right now.

Of the main characters? Yennefer. Mainly because of how some in the fandom treat her character, refusing to see any flaws, calling her perfect, acting like any slight to her character in canon or fanon is toxic. She is inherently flawed like all good characters should be and people acting like that makes me want nothing to do with her.

If it weren't for that, she'd be fine, even if her and Geralt are truly awful for each other.

3. What's your favourite episode of 4?

...I'm taking this opportunity to rant about TLOU cause it's my post and I can THE FIRST EPISODE IS AMAZING OKAY. The character introductions, the reintroduction to Joel, the world building, the slogan of the fireflies matching Joel's journey, Joel searching for Tommy because protecting his people has become his whole purpose, just. Someday I'd like to write an essay.

I wasn't really a fan of most of the canon ships honestly, but since it's Relationship and not Ship then Iroh and Zuko. I love that Iroh shows Zuko how he can be a non-toxic man in a world where they were both taught just toxic, power hungry and angry masculinity.

My stressful experience with eBay International Shipping.

I'm gonna write this down just in case someone like me end up with this situation and, at the very least, I can help to erase fears. I rarely buy to US besides Amazon.com because I can just forget about random customs and double VAT applied by my -lovely- local post office. But well, this little thing was only affordable (despite $55 in shipping) on eBay, yes. When you pay attention to tracking movements there's moments when you can be really afraid of the package being lost, stolen, etc. if there's not a single update. That was my case, TWICE. The first stuck happened during August 11th. It got stuck in Glendale Heights, IL 60139. That is basically eBay International Hub. And it was there, suck, without moving until the 21st. Then eBay updated the tracking to a new one that went fine until the package left Elk Grove Village, Illinois, US. Idk if it is due to lack of scans or what but from 27th to 6th I got 0 updates. I will suppose it was an ocean cargo and not air one.

At least the package arrived in time, only 4 days before the end of the last day eBay calculated to be delivered. And thankfully Correos didn't took the last mile so I didn't have to pay double VAT :D

It is funny how the new eBay system for international shipping now works worse than Aliexpress...

I miss my lover

But when i saw him for the last time i knew he wasn’t the one i fell in love with. My lover was sweet to me.. cared about my feelings… but now he was just indifferent. His ego got him and he didn’t think twice to abandon me…honestly i knew that but i wanted to test him. I wanted him to prove me wrong.. yet…guess what..saw tinder in his phone and that also explains so many things.. i miss him being nice to me… making me feel wanted, loved… i miss our happy moments but i knw for sure he was not the one when i was deleting all the pics I honestly was doing him a favour. Remembering sad and not so great memories would help us get over each other but the happy ones? They’ll make us feel miserable. I dont have those pics but i have the memories. Which honestly led me to writing this.…*You*.. if you ever read this… trust me i loved you and a part of me idk still misses you..But you pushed me away. You are not mine anymore. A huge part of me wants to forgive you.. wants to see you happy wants to forget everything you did to me but i’d be betraying my self. Moving on isn’t easy especially when ik that my love meant nothing to you..

A Huge Post about Wild Fun Facts

I write Ask-LU-Wild, so I look up a lot of stuff about BotW in particular. So I thought it’d be fun to put some things I’ve learned about this game during my time in the fandom. I put some links so you can see what I’m talking about. By the way, if you see me switching from Wild to Link, it’s probably because I’m leaning more into the game than talking about LU.

1. Starting off with a not-necessarily-wild fact. Kass’s instrument is most similar to a bandoneon, which is a type of concertina, not an accordion. That’s why I thought it’d be nice to give Wild an anglo concertina (I have a 20 key anglo concertina because of this...).

2. Apparently the ancient Sheikah technology takes heavy inspiration from art made in the Jomon period (14500-300 BCE)

3. Some of the food in Breath of the Wild caught my eye, based on their descriptions and their game sprites.

-Goron spice starts off as spicy, but then gets sweet. It reminds me of what I’ve learned about Japanese curry, which is sweet. I’ve only had Guyanese curry so I wouldn’t know first hand. But it’s possible that the curries made in BotW are based on Japanese curry.

-Egg Tarts are pasteis de natas, which are from Portugal. They’re popular in Japan and other Asian countries.

-Fish Pies are similar to Taiyaki in appearance. Taiyaki is actually a sweet cake, not made with actual fish. These are actually street food and are made with a certain type of pan (it reminds me of a waffle pan). Even though BotW fish pies are probably... dough wrapped around the fish to get its shape (idk I don’t cook), what if Wild did get his hands on one of these pans and made actual Taiyaki?

4. Paya, in Creating a Champion, is stated to be around Link’s age. Specifically 18-20. It’s possible that Wild is Nintendo-canonically around 17-21. This is gonna be one of the only images I put in this post just so you can see the dev notes from CaC

5. After spending enough time looking at HEMA videos for reference, I’ve come here to say, either the swords in Breath of the Wild are WAY too heavy, or Link really doesn’t know how to handle a zweihander. I know it’s pretty much the same animation used for certain weapon classes and that it’s a game so things are gonna be a little slow, and he does have amnesia, but god damn. I personally think the swords are just too heavy or something. Maybe Hyrule is ass at making swords.

-Eightfolod longblades look like Odachi

6. The outfit Link wears in the BotW 2 Trailer reminds me of a Greek chiton and chlamys. The sword also gave off gladius or xiphos vibes. I’d like to say xiphos, that way it matches more with the Ancient Hellenic vibes. Gladius swords are Roman.

7. Idk how much LoZ people care about Xenoblade, but I do. I hear a total number of 0 people talk about the fact that Link/Wild has Rex’s salvager outfit (DLC) and it’s a disservice.

8. Again, not necessarily Wild, but Mipha's jewelry has a Minish Cap Water Element on it.

9. According to Zeltik, Link can parrey whole Lynels and Taluses (Tali?). I’m aware it’s a video just for fun but he can still do it! Link also, and I can not stress this enough, pushes boulders twice-three times his height. He lifts big rocks and barrels above his head! What I’m saying is he’s STRONG.

10. The earrings you get from the Gerudo jeweler are all clip-ons.

11. Nintendo... on the same page... noted that Link was born from a line of knights, very well trained and experienced... but is not nobility.

I call bullshit every day of the week but I'll leave that for another day.

12. This is specifically LU point. Just a little food for thought, IDK if anybody else has talked about it or used it. I usually see people blaming Wild’s amnesia on the shrine, which is possible. I also saw a post saying that maybe Wild has dissociative amnesia, which is also possible! I never saw anybody bring up the concept art for Wild though.

Explosive damage from a guardian, probably, directly to the head? It’s a surprise that it’s still on at all.

I don’t wanna go into too much detail, because what I’m thinking is quite gruesome. If you’d like me to elaborate on this, or any other note feel free to ask. And if there is anything you noticed that you would like to add, then please do. As you can see, I like this funky little dude!

some follow-up thoughts on BnHA 285

1. “at that moment...”

you guys. I still can’t get over this. just -- guys. this is Kacchan telling the story.

he’s not the first character to narrate, mind you. characters like Twice, Tomura, Ochako, and Kirishima have all narrated in the past. but it’s always been past-tense narration of their own flashbacks, or else present-tense narration explaining their thoughts (e.g. Twice in chapter 115). Kacchan himself has done present-tense POV narration before. but this isn’t that. this is past-tense narration of an event that’s happening now. this is the future Kacchan narrating the present day Kacchan’s story.

has any other character done that, aside from Deku himself?? am I just crazy overreacting here, lol. idk but either way it’s cool.

2. “...there were no thoughts in my head.”

there was a post yesterday talking about Kacchan’s big moment at the end of this chapter being a little disappointing because of it being an automatic “my body moved on its own” save on Kacchan’s part. the argument was basically that it made the moment less meaningful because of it being a subconscious thing rather than a conscious decision on Katsuki’s part.

but I disagree! for me the “my body moved on its own” is actually way more impactful. and rather than describing it as “subconscious”, I think the word that fits better in this case is instinct. first of all, even though he says there were no thoughts in his head, we know that’s not exactly true, as we can see for ourselves the images that were flashing through his mind. I’m just gonna list them out:

“I’ll even surpass All Might and become the best hero out there.”

“why was it me who put an end to All Might?”

“I made a pledge! I will achieve absolute victory, every time! we’re taking this 4-0, no casualties! the strong don’t settle for anything less!”

“I’m not gonna lose... I can’t afford to stay a loser!”

“you... you looked like you needed saving.”

thoughts about what it means to be a hero. what it used to mean to him, and what it means to him now. thoughts about rescuing others. about saving to win. thoughts about his failures. thoughts about him and Deku. and last but certainly not least, vivid memories of a moment when he needed someone to save him, and Deku was there.

he has these thoughts, but he’s not aware of himself having them. it happens too fast for him to be able to process. but all the same, his body isn’t just moving here of its own accord. it’s simply that in this instance, it’s not thought that’s driving him, but emotion. at the risk of sounding INCREDIBLY CORNY, it’s not his head that makes the decision, but his heart.

and that’s why it’s so meaningful to me. in this moment, it’s not conscious thought that’s driving him, but emotion, instinct, will. he sees the attack, sees that it will hit Deku, and he just reacts. something at the core of him screams that he can’t let it happen, and he just moves. and to me that’s even more powerful than him consciously doing the math and making the sacrifice play (though I’m not saying I wouldn’t have enjoyed that as well). specifically because it’s a moment where he doesn’t have a chance to think or analyze or panic or doubt. it’s a moment that shows us who he is when you strip all that away from him. he doesn’t have time to get in his own head; he doesn’t have time to feel any fear; he doesn’t have time to think about himself at all. he takes himself out of the equation. he sees that Deku needs saving. and the rest is pure instinct. it’s the most heroic he has ever been.

3. “even if One for All is a cursed power... at the same time, it’s...”

I was wondering what was up with this part, lol. Caleb’s translation makes it much clearer; to Katsuki, OFA is both a blessing and a curse right now. the “cursed” part is becoming more and more obvious with each new chapter. it’s putting Deku in danger; it’s made him a target; it’s destroying his body; and there are other, darker and more dangerous factors also at play that Katsuki doesn’t even know about but fears nonetheless. I honestly feel like he’s been anxious about all of this ever since he learned Deku and All Might’s secret. it’s been on the back of his mind for months now.

but at the same time, OFA is what brought him and Deku back together. sorry, am I getting cheesy again lol. BUT IT’S TRUE THOUGH. All Might’s quirk gave Deku the chance to compete with Katsuki on equal footing for the first time. it forced Katsuki to acknowledge him. and both he and Deku have grown so much on so many levels over the course of this past year, and all of it stems back to Deku receiving this quirk.

and just... fucking look at these flashbacks, though.

unless I’m reading this completely wrong, the gist of this scene is that Katsuki is grateful for OFA because it’s what lifted Deku up and allowed him to try and achieve his dream. the scenes of Katsuki bullying Deku and burning his notebook are contrasted with the scenes of Deku standing up to him and vowing that he won’t be his punching bag anymore. Deku before OFA, contrasted with Deku after. I get the sense that Katsuki feels a lot of gratitude for fate stepping in and working to undo his mistakes before he himself could finally get his act together and start atoning for them as well.

and then that last page is really interesting, because it’s like the “blessing” and “curse” parts of OFA all together in a single image. Deku is going all out against Tomura, giving everything he has, ready to sacrifice himself if that’s what it takes. there’s so much strength there (even though he looks completely insane lmao), but at the same time it’s literally killing him. mixed feelings, for sure.

4. “Katsuki Bakugou: Rising”

last but not least! so there’s quite a bit of discussion going on about what exactly a “rising” chapter actually consists of, lol. Momo is the only other character who’s had one before (at least if you don’t count the movies, and the movie spin-offs). so it’s hard to say for sure with such a small sample size, but if I had to guess, I’d say the “rising” chapters are about characters coming into their own as heroes. Momo’s chapter was all about her letting go of her insecurities and starting to believe in herself. and this chapter was all about Katsuki letting go of both his fear and his pride, and just getting the job done.

in the span of a single chapter, he lets go of every single thing that’s ever held him back. I felt like we really got a glimpse of the hero he can -- and hopefully will, if future!Kacchan the Narrator is anything to go by -- become. he was amazing. he took charge; he came up with a plan that absolutely would have worked if Tomura wasn’t LITERALLY FUCKING UNKILLABLE LULZ; and when that failed, he didn’t hesitate to make the sacrifice play. Bakugou fucking Katsuki, He of Zero Rescue Points, made the fucking sacrifice play. do you even know how much I love that you guys. I love it so, so much.

but of course, when you make the sacrifice play it tends to have the not-so-surprising side effect of getting you ALL FUCKED UP afterwards. so perhaps a less ideal outcome than he would have hoped. but he still did good. and he stopped Deku from getting murdered, and so now hopefully Deku and Shouto can mount some sort of aggrieved revenge counterattack to do their fallen friend justice. time for my other two sons to get to work! maybe Shouto can make Deku some new arms out of ice.

There won’t be. I’m sorry if you were hoping for that! The Patreon moment is meant to be entirely optional, it’s not something that gets you extra content in the main game.

Is the new CG artist the main one now? :0 I’ve noticed theres been a difference in the art style recently. Is the old CG artist still going to make art for the game? :0

The original artist still makes CGs for the game sometimes, but he mainly focuses on character sprites.

Are you going to put the NSFW our life moment on a website other than patreon? I would love to get it but I can't use patreon atm.

I don’t know. I'm afraid we can't release the Patreon Moment on a normal game storefront because we can't mix 18+ content with our family friendly game. If there's some other place similar to Patreon where it's not the normal type of full-scale public content releases we'd consider using that, but I’m not sure if there is another site that’s better than Patreon in that regard. I'm sorry.

Out of curiosity, in all of your games so far, which characters in each were the most fun to write? They obviously don't have to be your favorite characters!

Buffalo Seer in AFA, really everyone in XOD/XOBD is pretty equally entertaining to write, The Guide in LoV, and Cove in OL!

I don’t know, ahah. I didn’t have any numbers in mind for that. So it’s whatever you imagine it is!

I noticed a bug with the Patreon moment when it comes to what your character wears. When Jamie and Cove are kissing while my character only had dresses selected, I had both the option to remove the dress or to remove the shirt... Picking one of the options to interact with Cove, after he removed his shirt, it had Jamie remove their shirt followed by ther pants despite only having dresses picked.

I’m afraid things haven’t been changed or removed, so I think you might’ve accidentally picked the wrong things somewhere along the way and locked yourself out of being able to propose by mistake. Sometimes you meant to say you want to get married but instead you mis-click and have it so the MC isn’t thinking about marriage or something. All I can suggest is starting from the beginning of Step 3 and making sure to follow the steps listed in the FAQ. I’m sorry for that.

Did yall remove some of the options for when youre making out with Cove in the charity moment? I could've sworn you could grab his bonkadonk and its not there anymore

This is the same situation as the above. We didn’t remove things and you’re not wrong that there are sometimes those options. But there are various choices you have to make to get those options and it sounds like you accidentally missed something. If your relationship isn’t long-term, you can’t do it for example.

Hi! I just wrapped up my second playthrough of Our Life, and I absolutely adore it, but I had a question. I went to the gallery and found I was missing 2 CGS (specifically Step 1-3 and 2-3) and I had no clue where they would've shown up. Which moments are those found in?

You get it by telling Cove about his dad offering you money to be his friend in Step 1 and Step 2. You can’t get both in one playthrough, since you can only tell Cove the truth once. I’m really glad you liked it!

If you save the save folder/persistent data of the game from your desktop and put it into the game folder on your other device, that could work.

Unfortunately, it’s not really something we have a plan for. We couldn’t finish the game if we tried to include every disability and have it be meaningful. It’d just be too much content to create. But if we decide to only include a few, how would we choose which disabilities get to be represented and which are left out? I don’t know. It’ll probably have to be something we don’t include as an option again, sadly. I’m sorry.

Honestly, I would like to thank Our Life for helping me come to terms with my sexuality. Before, I never would've actually thought that it was possible to like boys romantically and still be asexual. Almost all of the BL visual novels I've read had unskippable sexual content in them and it honestly just didn't click with what I feel. I'm glad I found Our Life. I love the game, the developers, and this fandom so much. Now, I can safely come out as homoromantic AND asexual (at least anonymously here anyway; my parents are still huge homophobes 😂).

Yeah, you can avoid the confession in Step 3 and then get it in Step 4.

Hi, my Cove wears bracelets through step 2 and 3 but I still don't get an option to give him a bracelet? I didn't even know that was possible until I seen someone else ask about it lol

Hm, did you use the Cove creator? Maybe there’s a bug where using the creator to add bracelets doesn’t fulfill the requirement to give Cove a bracelet in Step 3.

Wait, I'm dense, when does Baxter appear in step 2? Is it from big park firework? I feel so bad since i really love Baxter and waiting to buy his dlc.

It’s in the Soiree Moment. You have to be just friends with Cove, indifferent, or crushing but not ask Cove to the dance at all. Then while there you can find someone new to dance with. But if you bring Cove to the dance while crushing, the MC won’t wanna dance with anyone else so you can’t get the scene.

In step 2 when we go to the soiree I made my mc go alone and baxter chooses the mc to dance, i'm curious, why did he pick the mc? sorry if this has been asked before!

Because the MC looked to be around his age, seemed to also be searching for a partner, and had nice legs. A perfect option for him.

I read some of the FAQs, and I saw that we could tell Baxter about the condo that he rented there was previously the mean old grandparents. how do we get the mc to tell him that?

It happens in the DLC Moment “Late Shift”. If you don’t have a job you instead get a longer scene with Baxter.

I’m afraid I’m not sure what you mean. Are you asking how we programmed the screen or something script related? Adding Moments like that is pretty straightforward, though. You just have buttons that open to different labels and then the scripts are essentially individual short stories/vignettes. Good luck with your VN!

Since Autumn becomes gender fluid later in the game, will there be a character who remains as he/him to romance in game?

OL1 has the he/him LIs, OL2 is all about other genders.

I don't want to impose on your creative plans, but a parrot could possibly make a good pet in an OL-type game? They're pretty long-lived and likely to still be thriving by the end even if the MC got them back in step 1.

I do appreciate the suggestion, but I’m afraid it’s not likely going to happen. I understand there are technically some animals that could theoretically live long enough to last the whole game that or we could have the MC only get a pet after some years have already passed. But the many things that would have to be considered/accommodated for makes it just something we probably can’t manage adding. I’m sorry.

Can you date Cove and still have your family comfort you in the car?

You can’t get Cove’s Step 3 confession scene if you have the family comfort you in the car. But that’s not the only way to date him. You can get together with him earlier in the game or later on in Step 4.

Is Mc always going to be the one walking down the aisle or could Cove do it? Also could you choose to have one of your moms walk you?

No. Cove wouldn’t want to walk down the aisle like that and the MC automatically respects that. And the MC also gets to have their preferences respected, so it’s up to you whether they want to do an aisle walk or not. You also can pick who, if anyone, walks with you.

Once step 4 is out, will you be able to go the whole game on crush/love without either of you confessing?

Yes, as long as you tell the game you don’t want to progress the relationship. Even in Step 4 it won’t force you to officially get together.

He’s only a friend unless you get his romance story.

Step 4 is just an epilogue in both games.

Nope. Cliff has a very small interest in sex. If he’s not in a real relationship with a partner he’s crazy about it simply isn’t something he feels a need for, so one night stands wouldn’t even cross his mind.

Maybe! There are side characters who could be given romance stories, but whether or not it will happen depends on funding and how long everything else takes to finish.
