I posted this update in regards to my AO3 account on chapter seven of Missing today but for the folks not reading that story, please read below (paraphrased slightly).
AO3 seems to have made the choice for me as to my future on the AO3 site as we are going on nearly six weeks now since they initially suspended my account and they have not re-instated my hidden story, To Become the Nightmare, nor have they responded to any of my emails (of which I have sent three, nothing crazy, over these almost six weeks) asking for a response.
According to their own words, there would be a 1 week review period for a staff member to confirm the "offending" paragraph was removed (it was) and they would either re-instate or delete the story accordingly. That deadline of their review was April 5 and clearly nothing has yet been done or addressed. And at this point, I don't think AO3 ever plans to respond to me or re-instate my story and with that decided I can no longer support this platform and continue to post my works here. Unless something changes very, very soon, I am done with AO3.
I will finish up Missing and Touch of Fire but after much thought I will be deleting Worth(less) given that story is not even 25% posted on this platform and I don't want to linger here for months trying to finish it up.
If anything changes I will post an update here, on Tumblr. I had planned actually a writing event on Tumblr once To Become a Nightmare was re-instated to turn this awful situation into a positive one and (hopefully) bring in some donations to support RAINN's mission and help sexual abuse victims, but this storm doesn't seem to be abating and I won't be able to do as I'd hoped. But thank you to all who have stuck with me these many years and especially to whose who engaged with my works and left such kind words about my writing on my stories ♥ It truly meant the world.

hello and welcome to fic rec friday! where, on friday, i rec five of my favourite fics.

Lance must have seen something in Keith’s face, because his expression crumpled in anguish.
“You… You love me back.” He put his head in his hands. “Oh my god. You loved me. You love me. This—This is so fucked up.”
“Lance, I—”
“Tell me I’m wrong.” There were tears in his eyes. “Tell me we didn’t just waste all those years being cowards.”
Keith clenched his fists at his sides, still reeling from the whiplash of what he had just heard earlier. This can’t be happening.
“Say it!” Lance pressed. “Say you don’t love me.” Please, his eyes begged.
Keith and Lance finally figure out that they’re absolutely, undeniably, embarrassingly in love with each other, just not exactly in the best of circumstances.
okay so. this is. technically. one of the meaner fics im reccing. HOWEVER. it is gaspingly unbelievably beautifully and painfully written. even the summary kills me -- say you dont love me. im begging you. im begging you to lie to me right now. as we lay dying im begging you to have mercy on me and let me believe i didnt have a chance for beauty with you. im begging you to let me die with one regret instead of millions. please. please dont let me die being loved by you. LIKE WHAT
2. Toast to Freedom by @icypantherwrites
Keith is used to more than his fair share of dark looks. What he’s not used to is seeing those looks directed at Lance for no reason that he can determine and it’s making something uneasy settle in his stomach and the heavy press of the mantle of leader weigh even heavier as he should be doing something about it but he doesn’t know what. But causing a scene will upset the alliance they need and so Keith chooses to wait it out, to address it after the feast.
He should never have waited.

3. Disjointed Soul by @icypantherwrites
Lance falls victim to a Soul Leecher, a dark spirit that is drawn to disjointed souls to steal them for itself. The Paladins must go into Lance's very soul to save him, uncovering truths about themselves and Lance in the process. Time is of the essence before Lance is lost forever. Good thing they have such helpful, adorable soul guides.
"Hi there baby Lance," Hunk greeted.
"Ohwah," Lance burbled back. "¡Ohwah!"
"Ohwah?" Pidge repeated.
"I think he's saying "hola,'" Hunk grinned. "You know, "hello" in Spanish. Hola, baby Lance."
"¡Ohwah! ¡Ohwah!"
this is one of THEEEE original insecure lance fics fr like it was the BLUEPRINT. 2018 there wasnt a langst loving soul who hadnt read this at least twice. its not too long for my dears w shoddy attention spans but its long enough to have quite a bit of substance!! team as family with communication and lance at the centre of it. what more do u want
4. Sleep Well, My Son by @icypantherwrites
A tiny accident becomes literal when Lance is turned into a child with no recollection from his older self. Coran has hopes the effects will be relatively short-term, but in the meantime he has a scared child that needs both reassurance and care. And while Coran might not have had the chance to be a father… he feels like one now.
look i love a good de aged lance fic and obviously when i was making these bookmarks i was scrolling my way thru the tag. and this one is especially amazing bc it is coran centred! this is a coran fic! this is a fic about quiet grief in the life you never got to live and acceptance for the life you have now and love for the people life has brought you!! it is about coran finding family through people who so desperately need it!! it is everything!!
5. Amigos by @icypantherwrites
A dangerous mission becomes even moreso when Lance is turned into a child with no recollection of his older self in the middle of it. Keith has never been good with kids and that certainly isn’t going to change now. Somehow though he’s got to convince Lance — who doesn’t speak a word of English and is staring at Keith with too wide, too scared of eyes — to come with him, get them both out of the Galran base now crawling with sentries alive, and then, assuming they get that far, figure out how to change Lance back.
shut up about the repeated author shut up about the same trope shut up about the. okay. i am a simple creature. i am annoying. i like to sit on my little armchair and open my little phone and read the same thing a million times. there is a Way to read fic and that way is to click on and scroll through a tag until you find a fic you like then scroll through that author and then go back to the tag and rinse and repeat. besides this fic is amazing okay i love klance but we rarely get platonic klance and its GOOD okay

Summary: This diplomatic mission is not going the way Lance had hoped. The diplomacy part on behalf of Voltron is going fantastic and Lance doesn’t think he’d be remiss in saying he had a large hand in that. But the whole impress Shiro bit is an epic fail as Shiro doesn’t seem to notice his efforts at all and it’s only worse with Keith showing him up at nearly every turn. The aliens they’re working on the alliance though have noticed his efforts. But as Lance stands here now, Shiro and Keith’s lives along with a vial of poison in his hands, he isn’t so certain that was a good thing.
My thoughts: We love and appreciate Lance in this household. And Shiro needs to learn how to as well. This is so wholesome at the end. We love to see it.

New Fic: Last Breath
Warning: Major Character Death
Summary: Keith knows. Lance knows. The wound — metal punctured through Lance’s entire right side and emerging in jagged shards through his chest and stomach — is fatal. There’s nothing Keith can do. Nothing except be there and listen to Lance’s last words and his last breaths.
Story snippet:
“Lance,” Keith reached a hand up, pounding it against the door and straining to hear any return thunk, any moan or whimper or a word.
Nothing.
Keith pushed off and went around to the back of the shuttle where the cargo door was as he didn’t dare risk jamming his luxite in in the event Lance was slumped against the door.
The cargo door, just as dented, gave easily beneath his knife and Keith elongated it into a sword, slicing out a hole.
Darkness greeted him inside, the emergency lights out.
“Lance!” Keith shouted into the opening.
Lance! Lance! Lance! echoed back at him as his words reverberated around the storage hold.
Lance still didn’t answer.
Keith swallowed.
It was fine.
Lance was fine.
Just, just knocked unconscious.
He hauled himself up and into the cargo hold, hissing as his leg caught against the rough-hewn metal opening.
Keith ignored it and pushed forward, feet bumping into scattered boxes and crates that had escaped their holdings.
A loose bundle of oranges almost sent him flat on his face when he stepped atop one and Keith let out a sound between a sob and a laugh as he regained his feet he wondered what Lance would think when he heard that Keith had been taken out by fruit.

welcome to the thirty-fourth fic rec friday! where, on friday, i rec five of my favourite fics.
1. Red Poppies by @icypantherwrites
Hanahaki (with a twist) AU — Lance has never experienced a case of Hanahaki this bad. He wishes he could say it’s just the amount of flowers he’s coughing up and desperately trying to hide from the team, just as he’s trying to hide the fact that he technically died at Omega Shield from them, but it’s not just that. It’s the fact he keeps choking out red poppies. And red poppies...
They symbolize death.
the most interesting take on hanahaki ive ever seen tbh. i know icy panther is known for her edgier storytelling, but this is one of my faves of hers! i like the originality of it, and of course i adore the addressing of the omega shield disaster
2. Voltron: Last Dialogue by @uncouth-peasant [IMPLIED CHARACTER DEATH]
After the events of Omega Shield, the Astral Plane has a visitor.
okay look i know everyone freaks about major character death but im asking u to read this anyway. for one its only IMPLIED, technically lance could still be alive, and also it’s just a really well-written fic. lance and shiro have so so so much potential with how similar their characters and arcs are, so i loved how this one explored that in its heartbreak

Lance knows something’s wrong.
Keith turns his gaze on him, dark eyes latching onto him like an anchor.
Normally this is when Lance can think of something stupid to say to make Keith smile. Bonus points if he can get a laugh. Usually it isn’t hard — smiles come easy when it’s them. But something is wrong, and Lance knows that Keith’s smile will be the farthest thing from him if he says it.

Kink Meme FIll: "In the first episode, Lance says that Shiro is his hero. But Shiro is still just a guy in his mid twenties, and we've seen him join in on silly stuff ("Blam blam blam!").
So what I want is five times Lance sees Shiro do dorky, ridiculous things, and one time he realizes he'd still follow this dork to Hell and back."
C'mon, as if I could pass that up.
five plus one? check. lance learning to know his idol as a human? check. gentle and careful and clumsy relationships? check. and dorky loser goober shiro, my love and light? CHECK CHECK CHECK. this fic is so so fun. shiro should get the right to be a dorky goober at all times and anyone who writes that is my hero

If you're still doing the director's cut... In "Through Hell and Back Again" what were your thoughts and approach to writing Lance's "death" as I know it was a bit... gorier than normal for you ;p

WHY IS TUMBLR EATING MY NOTIFS WTF
Anyway! So the inspiration for Lance’s “death” came from the gameplay trailer for “The Last of Us 2,″ particularly the section where Ellie is creeping through the woods (the video I linked to shows it starting at the 3:47 timestamp). Trying to avoid spoilers for those who haven’t read “Through Hell and Back Again,” but if you watch the video, you’ll see exactly what I had in mind for the beginning scene of that fic. I had to include that impalement just for you, Icy!
I’ve been challenging myself to write things that are more outside my comfort zone a lot lately, trying to get back into the swing of writing. “All the King’s Horses” is another good example of this. I love my characters, I love writing angst, and I’m not afraid to go down the character death when I feel the work calls for it; but actually writing out fleshed out scenes of gore and brutality and not shying away from them is incredibly difficult for me. It’s always my hope that in writing these things, it doesn’t come across as romanticized or glorified for the sake of shock factor–that’s a huge concern for me. I want the writing to be as realistic as possible within the worlds that I write, if that makes sense.

An amazing fic author
I just want to give a shoutout to one of my favorite authors, @icypantherwrites! She is an extremely skilled author and has been writing amazing fics as commissions to help a friend out! I have literally cried over so many of her fics! Her long boi, As Color Fades Away, is one of my favorite fics of all time! But so many of the new commissioned fics are wonderful! There is so much love you can see in her writing and I wish I was a writer so I could articulate how amazing her stuff is and how deeply some of it has touched me. Definitely, if you enjoy some high quality gen angst content, her stories are for you!
