After The Glitter Fades

description: After Kyle broke Misty’s radio, he finds a way to make it up to her

Title is inspired by Stevie Nicks song ‘After The Glitter Fades’ which I highly recommend listening to while reading this to get the full effect.

With a little suggestion and some light coaxing from Zoe, who had been the one to buy the new radio, Kyle was to apologize and give Misty her new gift from him. It wasn’t entirely Zoe’s idea. Kyle had looked upset, claiming he wanted to “Fix. Fix music. Make better.”  And Zoe understood what it meant from there.

Once she came back with the radio, Kyle’s eyes lit up as he carefully took it, looking it over. “G-give. G-give frienddd” He had said, gesturing down the hall to the room in which Misty was begrudgingly staying in at the academy. 

Zoe let Kyle go off, figuring it’d be best if he did this himself. Despite how confused and foggy his brain and memories were, he still had a sense of guilt and he did feel bad in his own zombified way for destroying the thing Misty loved the most. He just hoped that she’d forgive him.

He lifted a clumsy hand and knocked on the closed door, waiting a bit nervously with the radio in a small gift bag that Zoe had given him to put it in. In the bag was also a handwritten and drawn card that Kyle had clumsily made with a little help from Zoe. It read:

When Misty answered the door, her eyes showed hints of sadness and dislike towards the zombie boy. He could sense it and he carefully handed over the gift bag with shaky hands. “G-give.” He spoke, stumbling over his words per usual as he looked up to meet her eyes.

Misty stayed silent until she peeked into the bag and saw the radio, eyes widening a bit before she glanced back at Kyle.

“Oh you sweet thing-“ she cooed, smiling softly “I’m sorry for what I said. You’re not a big old monster, just a little confused, yeah? Aww c’mere you” She carefully set the bag at her feet before pulling Kyle into a hug.

Kyle blinked a few times before it clicked in his brain and he hugged back, his arms wrapping around her in a tight embrace as he inhaled deeply, smelling the shampoo she used as well as some sort of flowery lotion. He smiled against her shoulder, satisfied and happy. 

After a moment Misty pulled away from the hug, a huge smile still covering her entire face as she picked up the bag and gently took the radio out, walking over and setting it on her bedside table. She set it all up and pressed play, a familiar sweet melody filling the room. She turned back to Kyle and offered a hand out to him, which he carefully took, making sure not to squeeze her hand too tight in his own. 

Misty swayed around Kyle, her flowy clothing completely grasping Kyle’s attention as he looked at her in awe. She took both of his hands then and began to slowly lead him in a dance. It was free, and despite how clumsy Kyle was on his feet, it felt nice. They stayed like that for a while, just swaying along with the quiet melody, enjoying each other’s company and for the first time since both arrived there, they felt real true peace.

yellowjackets as taylor swift albums (I'm bored). this became deeper than I meant for it to go OMG. whoops, anyways, enjoy:

1. tai: reputation. oh my god this girl is soooo in love with van, and at the end of the day, that's what reputation is. a love album. yeah it's got a little revenge in it, but overall, it's about being in love with someone who was there for you at your most vulnerable. and who's always been there for tai, adult AND teen timeline? VAN!

2. van: 1989! it's nostalgic, fun, iconic but still has the emotional rawness that flows throughout all of taylor's albums. everyone thinks 1989 is just heaps of fun, but it has this emotional intensity to it that once you look closer to it, you realise how much of a masterpiece it is. also, it just gives me van vibes tbh.

3. jackie: lover. she's so insecure about being in a relationship with who she thinks is the love of her life (shauna) in case she fucks it up (spoiler alert, she does). taylor also wrote this album as a last hurrah, to prove she had more stories to tell, and I think that ties in nicely to jackie's character. her insecurity forces her to try and prove herself to shauna, and show her best friend how much she loves her.

4. shauna: she's a red girlie. taylor's most emotionally raw album (besides ttpd) and she just gives the vibes. this is taylor's first heartbreak album (like how jackie's death was shauna's first heartbreak), and it's so intense that it takes a few listens to understand, but once you do, you realise it's an album about a girl with big heart learning how to recover from the devastation of losing someone she loves deeply.

5. lottie: folklore!! I love my little baby. this album was written in isolation, and you can definitely hear it in some of taylor's lyrics, and I just feel like that's lottie's character. the isolated girl who's held up to a higher standard than everyone else.

6. nat: ttpd. okay, i was tossing up between giving this to nat or travis, but then I remembered the adult timeline and went with nat. when I first heard this album, it reminded me of her purposeless speech. it's also an album where taylor was going through a manic phase, and if that isn't nat, I don't know what is. she's just lost the love of her life, and then she's kidnapped by lottie's cult and promised so many wonderful things, that she believes it—only for it to end in tragedy.

7. misty: she gives off such speak now vibes. she has so much she wants to prove, and she's reeling from being in love with a man much older than her.

8. travis: evermore. he's such a tragic little guy, that the album suits him. I really just think of happiness, marjorie and right where you left me because he's stuck in the past. he literally kills himself (accidentally I know, I know) because he's so trapped in the wilderness despite being free from it. this album has always given me: depressed sad, compared to its sister albume: folklore, which gives me angry sad. and while he's definitely more angry then lottie, he's got this deep sadness in him that echoes evermore.

9. mari: midnights. okay I don't know how to explain it better than this is how I interpret mari. she's the first to throw herself into believing lottie because she's scared and when I think of midnights, I think of how scared taylor was at losing her relationship and joe that she ignores her feelings. and mari ignores her feelings because if she really thinks about it, I don't think she'd be able to handle herself, i.e. being trapped in the woods, eating jackie.

10. javi: taylor swift (debut). just the innocence and naïvety of the album. it's her first album, she wrote and released at 15/16 so there's a lot of childish beliefs and hopes, which I think javi has—but there's still an underlying feeling of heartbreak. he tries to be a kid, but is still traumatised.

11. laura lee: fearless!! this is purely based on the album title. I mean, learning to fly a plane just to save her friends? this album is probably my least favourite, so you're not going to get a lot of analysis, but the few times I've listened to it, I understand it's about having faith things will work out (this might be wrong, but that's what I'm choosing to believe about it). and her faith makes her believe she can do anything, including save her friends. omg I love her so much <333

Took me like a month, but I finally finished my Tears of the Kingdom Zelda piece. Also, this was by far the biggest drawing I've ever made (and the biggest file size also).

Also, I gotta say, I love that every single Zelda artist has their own piece and interpretation of Zelda and the Light Dragon, it speak volumes of how iconic and good it was.

Lyrics are from Bruce Dickinson's "Tears of the Dragon", I think they fit nicely with the theme.

Do Misty's kits make it to Starclan in BB?? Like word of God they're there? I know you probably have to be vague with Reed since ASC isn't finished, but Pike, Perch and Prim have their full names and are in Starclan right?

They have their full names, and depending on how I have her ceremony go, several may end up giving her a life. Still trying to think of how I'd format it based on how I'd rework Mistystar's Omen, plus what each life is for.

Primrosepaw's Warrior name is a bit odd in Clanmew, it's Prraponma, which translates to "early-flower," or just 'primrose.' Since her name's iconic, I'm going to translate it as Primroseflower.

Perchkit is Perchfoot.

Pikepaw is Pikeheart.

Other cats who want to give her a life;

Bluestar, absolutely. Mistyfoot has complicated feelings about her, but she still watches over her. Mosslight is also here to congratulate her, but there's plenty of others who are lined up.

Crookedstar... since Leopardstar was weakening him, way back when. Quite frankly Mistystar has unknowingly avenged his death.

Oakheart. He was always gonna give a life to his baby

Graypool. Same as Oakheart.

Stonefur, naturally.

Deerfoot, who died helping her escape. NO regrets, he'd do it again in a heartbeat and tell her he's giving her a life on behalf of everyone else who was there that day. Not all of them walk among the stars as he does.

Mudfur, though he's distraught that Leopardstar was sent to the Dark Forest. He's here to soothe her guilt, he understands why she did what she did, and there is still a seed of evil in the heart of RiverClan. He should probably give a life for mercy, though, knowing that she will burn with righteous anger. "Just remember that even the worst cat you must crush has someone who loves them."

Silverstream, her old bestie. Probably tries to give her a life for love across borders, "remember that it wasn't loving Graystripe that killed me, it was the stress of not being able to love him openly."

Feathertail would also want to get in here but like, look at this line. There are so many cats who want to back her up lmao
